Previously, we met back up with Eva and she introduced her to her new friend. We then introduced said friend to a traumatic experience.

>Give her the antidote
>Give her a Mindbalm

Blue has walked out the door, leaving you alone with Elle. You can’t help but feel at least a little bad for what you and Hiss have done here. Even Elle finds it within herself to look troubled.
“That’s my fault isn’t it?” she asks. “I hurt her feelings somehow.”
She holds you tighter.

“Don’t you remember her at all?”

Elle looks lost.
“No? But I don’t remember a lot from the bad times. I was a different type of person back then, you know? A bad person.”

You sigh and gently push her away as you look around. Her room is completely bare save for a crumpled-up rug on the ground where you suspect she sleeps. She doesn’t have anything else and as far as you can tell, she just sits there and stares at the wall all day when neither you nor Hiss have need of her.
“You...really are. Do you ever miss who you used to be?”

“No. Why would I? I was a very bad person, I tried to hurt you. YOU! Every day I am thankful that the Queen had the mercy in her heart to remake me instead of killing me. I...I probably deserve to die.”

“It wasn’t mercy,” you mutter as you start searching through your pack. Hiss did it out of spite.

“You’ll tell her I said that, right?”

“Pardon?”

“Every day I am thankful. I am thankful and I am always praising her and thanking her for how she spared me. I’m doing my best so please tell her that.”

“I will. Now drink this.”
You hand her the antidote to the love potion and she drinks it without a second thought. She grimaces just a moment later.

“What is this? Not that I don’t trust you Cennen, I trust you more than anything! But...this potion feels bad.”

“How so?”

She steps away from you.
“I can’t explain it. But now I feel cold and ugly and empty and you know I love you right? I really do. I really do. But it doesn’t feel the same.”

She looks at you with new eyes, desperate to still see the alchemy-induced spark but unable to do so.

“You’ll understand soon enough.”
You pass her the Mindbalm.

Elle drinks it and sinks back down onto the floor, clutching the blanket to her chest.
“This isn’t good,” she mumbles. “Something’s wrong. There’s a problem with me.”

You pat her on the head and she doesn’t even seem to notice it. She’s practically staring right through you now.
“I’m very small,” she whispers.

“Pardon?”
She looks the same size as ever to you.

“Small and broken and I didn’t even know! Why did you have to show me?”
She curls up and hides underneath the blanket like a child.
“I’m sorry. Leave me alone please.”

>Pet snake.

You pat her on the head again. She might as well be a sack of potatoes for all she responds but it makes you feel better anyway.
"I'm going to lie, you are all of those things. But you don't have to stay like that forever."

You do your best to embrace her for a moment before standing back up. Hiss probably won't be happy about this but she did tell you that Elle was yours now. So you can heal her if you want.

"We'll talk later, alright?"

She grunts softly in response and looks away. You leave the room and shut the door softly as you go.
And almost run right into Orange as you do so.

He dances back just a little to avoid you, still wearing the same clothes he did when his human form was female. Really, no man has any business looking that feminine.
"Visiting the prisoner, eh Cennen?"

"How much of that did you see?"

"All of it."
At least Orange sounds apologetic.
"I'm not sure if you should be treating her so kindly. She's like she is now for a reason you know. Her Majesty won't look too kindly on it."

"She's my prisoner," you grumble. "Surely I can do what I want with her. How is Hiss anyway? You're still her errand-boy?"

Orange sniffs in disapproval.
"I'm her Personal Assistant, she gave me a new rank and title and everything."

If you've learned anything from Hiss' brief stint as Queen so far it's that she absolutely loves handing out titles.
"Yeah, you're her regular right hand man alright."

"She doesn't keep me in her hand, more around her-...Never mind. Cennen, I can't help but feel that you're not taking my new title seriously."

"I'm more surprised you actually are taking it seriously. Don't you ever get tired of doing all her busywork?"

"Only a little. Sometimes. Maybe a lot of times."
Orange deflates a little.
"I'm tired nearly all of the time actually."

It might not look like it but you wouldn't believe the uh, amount of personal satisfaction and fulfilment I get out of being the Queen's Personal Assistant. It is absolutely a non-zero amount."
Orange is starting to look a little frazzled.

"Okay, okay. What are you here for? Does Hiss want to see me?"

"Not exactly. She's sent me down to tell everyone that we have another headquarters now. She has a list of essential personnel that she wants to be moved and you...you..."
Orange rustles through the stack of papers that have become omnipresent around him before nearly dropping them all.
"You are one of them. She wants you to pack up and move."

"Sounds reasonable enough. I think I'd be insulted if I wasn't on that list actually. Now here, let me fix something up for you."
You set your pack down and settle into an alchemist's squat as you start to mix up a basic Restoration brew.

"Of course you're on the list Cennen, the Queen thinks very highly of you. You're her favourite human and an extremely useful asset. A-and her lover."
Orange does his best to look distasteful at that last part.

"Oh don't tell me you're still hung up on that."

"I'm not, I'm starting to understand the attraction to humans a little. After all, he Queen's human form is very attractive and soft. Uh. I mean, it's just a little weird to say."

You fix Orange with your stare as you hand him the restoration brew.
"And how would you know just how soft Hiss is, huh?"

Orange is beginning to panic on the inside.
"Well she fee-, I mean she looks...not scaled? Yes. She is not scaly in her human form. That's what I meant. And even if I understand her tastes I don't share them. No offence Cennen but the idea of intercourse with a human is very strange to say the least!"

That's not really what you asked at all but Orange is much too busy jamming both feet into their mouth.

>"Really? If I recall correctly you were the one practically begging for it back when we first met."

"It's strange, is it? Big words for someone who was practically begging for it back when we first met."

Orange crosses their arms and glares at you.
"That was different. I was desperate and I was trying to make you use up your wishes after you wishbound me for virtually NO reason I might add."

"Yeah but think, if I had just left you alone you would never have arisen to the glorious heights of Her Majesty's Pet Assistant."

"Personal Assistant."

"Same thing right?"

Orangle grumbles almost inaudibly.
"It's an important job."

"I never said it wasn't. And one more thing, don't push your luck with Hiss. I don't know what you've got going on there but it isn't going to work out."

"I don't choose where she puts me!"
Orange blushes bright red and stomps away before you can reply or ask just what the hell he's talking about.

That leaves you with the task of rounding up all of your equipment and your companions for the big move. Neither Zigzag nor Aashenpreet are on the list but you want them to come anyway. And naturally you have to bring Eva and Hom. And you can't leave Elle behind either, not after that.

You have no trouble locating the first three, Eva having apparently activated the water of the shared bath out of curiosity. You find Zigzag and Aash sprawled out over the bar giggling their heads off from a massive dose of Snake Oil while Eva just stares at them in confusion.
Once again you do your best not to look at Aashenpreet while Eva helps her get dressed and you help Zigzag with the same.

Hom loads himself up on the cart without any complaints but that's only to be expected isn't it? How the hell is he going to complain about anything? At least he's stopped deforming back to his original shape most of the time.

It's harder to get Elle out of her room but you eventually coax her back into her natural form and let her slide into your pack.

>>
The journey to your new headquarters goes by uneventfully and what headquarters they are! It's a mansion, one fully stocked with human staff at that and with guards supplemented by Hiss' own walking dead.
The staff and the servants all appear very deferential and you get the sneaking suspicion that some snakes have already had a very long talk with all of them.

And once you settle down and night begins to fall, you have free reign of the place.

"aaaaaaa."

"Fine."
Eva stares at Hom's human form for a little bit.
"We've been getting along just fine."

"Good. Now, Hiss is likely going to make some pretty absurd demands of us soon so we should really work on your brewing skills. Who's up for some lessons?"

>Teach them potions.

You spend the rest of the night instructing them on how to brew certain potions. You choose the most immediately useful brews to teach, specifically Heal-all, Soulsight, Antimagic, Weakening Cloud, Shapeshifting Brew, Spiritbane, Champion Elixir, Souldrift, Potence and Regen.
Now that's a hefty selection! Eva and Hom should be able to take on damn near anything with those capabilities.

What's curious is that the homunculi don't seem to distinguish between Journeyman and Master level brews, they create them with the exact same amount of effort. You suppose that makes sense.

They're quick learners as well but not THAT quick so by the time you've finished teaching and demonstrating it's been hours and you're starting to feel very tired. You could fix that with a Restoration brew but it's getting late and you need to sleep some time after all.

You inspect their potions one last time. Eva's are of a significantly higher quality than Hom's. The poor mute just doesn't seem to match up to her in that area. But he's serviceable nonetheless.

"That's enough of that, you two go get some sleep or whatever. We can revisit this tomorrow."

"Of course."
"aaaaa"

Be silent, wretch. I will never allow you to be alone with him again.

You cock your head.
"Is something wrong Eva?"

"No, it's just easier to talk to him like that. Sorry."
The two homunculi take their leave.

Time for you to get some sleep as well. But where?

>Find Hiss.

It's not particularly difficult to find Hiss. You just corner a cowering servant and ask them where the master bedroom is.
You open the doors and stride in to find Hiss lounging on the gigantic double-bed as if she owned the place. Which you guess she does.

She's reading through a sheath of papers but she sets them down when she sees you. She puts her hand to her mouth in mock astonishment.
"You know what, I was just about to send Orange to get you Cennen. You read my mind."

You don't see Orange anywhere.

"Oh? And what would you have had in mind?"

Hiss rolls her eyes.
"Let's not be coy about this, you know exactly what I want."
She beckons you over to the bed.
"Unless you have something else in mind?"

"Uh yeah actually, I was wondering about your plans for the near future. What's the next step from here?"

"Haven't I already explained the whole plan to you? You don't really need to know much more. You should really just leave it to me because, to be quite perfectly honest, I'm bette-"

She shuts up when you shove a hand up her tunic and get to work. Hiss is hopelessly sensitive.
"What was that? Better at what?"

"Better a..."
She stops again as your other hand gets into her pants.

"Pardon?"
You can feel her already starting to buck beneath you.

"Better at thinking," Hiss eventually pants.

"Really? You don't look very good at thinking right now."

"Screw you."
She really wants to.

"So what's the plan?"

Hiss moans incoherently and is unable to provide an immediate answer.

"Yeah, I guess you're not actually that much smarter than I am."

"...Idiot. I am your Queen!"
And yet she isn't exactly pushing you away like she easily could.

"Take your tunic off already."

You're feeling a little bit unsteady, unused to playing a dominant role with her like this but she wastes no time in doing exactly as you ask.

"Hold on Cennen, I think you're misunderstanding just who is supposed to be in charrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...stop that!"

"Sure."
You stop, leaving her trembling on the bed beside you.

It takes maybe five seconds before she cracks.
"I uh, I didn't mean STOP."

"Maybe when you tell me about your short-term plans."

It takes about five minutes for Hiss to drop the details on you, extended as she seems to regularly forget the exact details or gets them wrong. It's nothing that you didn't already expect. She's funnelling money into solving the public unrest that she caused and is already the ruler of Melire in all but name.
Ruler of all Melire save this bedroom apparently.

"There's nothing else," Hiss says. "Now get back to work."

"Just a moment."
You walk back over to your pack and start to unpack your cauldron. You don't have any Potences left so you're going to have to brew another one.

"Excuse me? What do you think you're doing?"

"Sssh."
Amazingly Hiss actually stops talking, mostly out of pure surprise. That gives you enough time to complete and down the brew.

By the time you've finished drinking it Hiss' anger and frustrations have been well and truly roused. She gets up and strides over to you, any haughty impression ruined by the fact that she's still topless.
"Didn't you hear me? I said get back here an-"

You put your hand over her mouth. She makes a yelp that is as astonished as it is muffled before she raises her hand to strike you.
You easily catch it by the wrist. She presses harder and harder but you don't budge. With your already-enhanced strength combined with the Potence you feel like you could probably give Aashenpreet a run for her money. And Hiss feels incredibly weak. You push her arm back to her side with minimum effort.
There are no other snakes around either so she can't use Royal Blood to gain a boost, it's just you and her.

"As you wish, your highness."

After a few seconds she gives up on trying to struggle and surrenders herself entirely to you. After all, isn't this what she wanted? Granted, she wanted to be in control while you did it but in the heat of the moment those concerns tend to melt away and before long she's outright begging you for more and doing exactly as you tell her.

A few times during the act you can feel her scales flare up beneath your grasp but you don't feel bad. She's not hurt. Hiss is completely immune to harm so there's no need to hold anything back.

Some time later the two of you are lying back on the broken double-bed, both of you completely exhausted. Hiss is having a hard time looking at you.
"What's wrong Hiss?"

"I thought we talked about this last time."

"Oh come on, it's nothing compared to what you do to me."

"That's different."

"But you liked it, didn't you?"
You supplement this question with a little tactile aid.

"Hey hey hey...yes! Yes, I liked it! It's awful and horrible and I liked it."

"It's not a bad thing to surrender control once in a while Hiss. I do it virtually all the time when we're together."

"But that's you. It's different for me because I'm the Queen. I have to be in control at all times."

"So all the better to be able to drop that burden every now and then right? To stop being the responsible one and let someone else make the decisions."

Hiss groans.
"It was...fun. But don't you dare expect this to be a regular occurrence."

"We'll see."

Hiss grumbles before turning on her side, clearly intent on getting some sleep. You do the same.

"Uh, Cennen?"
Hiss' voice is very quiet. Ashamed, even.

"Yes?"

"Do you remember when we were wishbound together?"

"How could I not?"

"You were a perfect gentleman and servant the entire time, you always used your wishes politely and with consent no matter how much I provoked you."

"Mmm. And?"

"Back then every now and then I almost wanted you to use them for something different."

Silence.

"Not that I want you to or anything."

Silence.

"But it might have been exciting."

Silence.

"Goodnight Cennen."

To be fair Hiss could do the same if she wanted to but she normally has to worry about not breaking Cennen in half. But with the Potence up Cennen is even stronger and Hiss is invulnerable so there's not much reason not to.

We should make a serpentbane that only breaks wishbonds. Then let hiss keep them and keep her wishbound. That way nobody else can ever wishbond her but she can break it at any time if necessary.

The bed isn't particularly comfortable now that it's at a distinct tilt so you let yourself roll down towards Hiss, wrapping your arms around her. She sighs happily in her sleep and bites at the air.

.......

"Cennen..."

"Wake up Cennen."

"Wake up."

"Wake up!"

You open your eyes blearily to find sunlight peeking in through the window. Hiss is still in your arms, whether she likes it or not. She wriggles and writhes against you in a way that is most pleasing but for some reason is incapable of breaking free or getting up.

Oh right, you didn't sleep very long before dawn so the Potence might still be active. Even when you're sleeping she's not strong enough to break out of your grip. You let go of her.
"Sorry."

"You will be," she mutters darkly as she gets up.

"Why didn't you just bite me or something?"

Hiss looks a little bashful.
"Uh...you know that's discouraged."

It takes you a few seconds but you get it eventually.
"Oh, oh shit! I accidentally captured you. Sorry."

Hiss stands up, her form framed against the window's light in a way that quickly causes you to stand too, at least in spirit.
"Now hurry up and break the wish-bond already. Where's my Serpentbane?"

>Wish

You interrupt Hiss' searching with your first wish. She stares at you in utter shock. What, did she not expect you to be THAT bold?

She blushes furiously and glares wordlessly at you as she kneels before you.
You've never done this with Hiss before though she's certainly been eager for the other way around. Yet all the same at least one of her human souls was a master because she's very good at it.
To be honest, this all feels really weird to you. Sexy but weird. You're not used to being in control of Hiss of all people, much less...this.

She doesn't do it by half-measures either, you get the feeling that she'd stay on until you were completely finished if you hadn't interrupted her by making your second wish.

What follows is more mutual but, as a distinct difference from nearly anything you've done with Hiss before, is soft and slow and loving. You hold hands a lot and your third and final wish is to disable her venom for the time being so that you can kiss.
And that might not sound like much but it's an extreme novelty when your girlfriend is venomous.

But all good things come to an end and eventually the two of you are parted. Hiss is aglow but also looks faintly disconcerted at the whole thing.

"So, how about that huh?"

She sighs.
"I regret saying that dumb thing about the wish-bonds. But it could have been worse. Just don't think I won't make you pay later."

"I'll expect it."

Hiss quickly whips in and out of transformation, returning herself to a completely fresh and clean clothed state.
"Now if you don't mind, I have an army to run. And you have...potions to make or whatever."
She pats you on the head as she goes to leave.

"So what you're telling me is that it was good?"

"Yes."
She shuts the door behind her.

Nice.

It's a fresh new day and you're tired already. You should probably have a bath. But once you're done with that, what next?

Interlude 23

Gepe shied away as the men in the center of the square roared at each other and shook their fists. Some of them had weapons but none were yet willing to use them. It had been the pub closing down that had done it, Gepe reckoned.
This district had already gone to shit but it wasn’t as bad as the worst of them. But then the local pub, center of fraternity and a hard night’s relaxation for Teln culture everywhere, had closed down due to the increase in prices caused by the unrest and now men were spilling into the streets and pooling about with nowhere to go.

“So what? Those cunts up north want to do nothing while we get all of the trouble AND now they won’t let us even have a fucking drop?”

“I can’t live like this!”

“They still got a pub down by Southersby I reckon. Saw it yesterday.”

“FUCK SOUTHERSBY.”

“Buncha cunts, why don’t we go over there if they want to have a go?”

The rest of the crowd was leaning in and watching closely, many of them already getting incited but Gepe did his best to keep a distance. He knew a forming riot when he saw one and this one was about to burst. There was going to be broken glass and bones by the end of this.

But then the men were parted and the crowd was stilled by a sound most peculiar. It didn’t grip Gepe right so he kept his head and watched as everyone else began to calm. What the fuck?

A man strode into the square, flanked by three of those strange shambling folk that had started to become a common fixture of Melire. They, and the weird lizard-circle crest stamped across the man’s tabard marked him as one of...hers. The witch.
There was something queer about the man too or at least there was to Gepe’s eye. He didn’t move right. Not like the shamblers but kind of the opposite. His steps were too smooth and too precise. He was too clean for someone walking through these streets. Even the nobles got dirty down here.

1/2
>>
>>46024397
“Desist.”
The crowd was already beginning to back away, cowed by that strange rattling noise that seemed to echo around the square everywhere and anywhere. The man nodded.
“Fear not. Her Majesty has heard your cries and you shall not go without relief.”

He snapped his fingers and in from behind him came at least a dozen more of the shambling men and women. They were pulling a cart. A cart stacked high with beer, many of them with stickers saying ‘Property of Lord Branth’ that had only been half torn-off.

Damn, Gepe thought. This witch bint might be a woman but she really gets us.

Hours pass and the day winds on as you toil over your cauldron. Your first subject is one that has weighed on your mind for...well, ever since you first met Zigzag.

You can't make a REAL fake soul, not just yet but you might be able to make something that gives off the same feeling when it's being eaten. In the end you wind up with a bottle of Soul Substitute, brewed mostly out of snake blood and a few drops of your own to simulate humanity.
You look around for Zigzag to test it but you can't find her in the mansion. You can't find Aashenpreet either. Weird.

You consider investigating that but in the end the siren's call of the cauldron works its magic on you and you wander back and spend a few more hours working until you finish up your Advanced Thoughtbrew.
It works in the same way a Thoughtbrew does but allows the modifications to go soul-deep. This lets you, among other things, implant temporary memory by suggestion!
Too bad you can't test it on yourself.

Interlude 50
Zigzag laughed as she was hurled out of the pub and hit the cobblestones rolling. She wasn’t hurt but this was turning out to be a lot of fun! The man that had thrown her loomed through the doorway as the people on the street averted their eyes. This wasn’t a particularly good part of town and it had only gotten worse with recent events so this was a sight they were all used to. But even still, such a small and pretty girl being thrown around by a man made some onlookers twitch and ball their fists.

“Hey shorty! What do you think you’re doing coming down here dressed like that?”

Zigzag inspected her clothes with detached concern. What had she done wrong? Her human manners had been impeccable hadn’t they? And what was wrong with her clothes? They were the same trousers, shirt and suspenders that she always wore. She had the feeling that pants were somewhat uncommon on human woman but it probably wasn’t too bad.

“Some fucking toff’s daughter like you huh? You trying to fit in and slum it down with us or something? While your daddies take all of our money? You know what we do to little noble girls down here?”

He grabbed her by the sleeve and pulled her to her feet, letting Zigzag inspect her own cuffs. Oh. Her clothes and appearance were probably too flawless for these people. But shouldn’t that be a good thing? Humans were dumb!
The man was still hoisting her in the air but Zigzag wasn’t particularly concerned. Over a century of being utterly invulnerable had deadened the usual bite instinct almost completely and replaced it with a sort of...hungry apathy. She could shred the man’s hand or knock him out but Cennen might be annoyed if she does anything like that where people could see it.
Zigzag didn’t like this, having signed up for the Queen’s crusade primarily so that she could finally slither through human lands without having to hide herself or her appetites but...she didn’t want to make Cennen angry.

1/2
>>
>>46025213
...cowering up against the wall, weak and human...he reached over with snake-eyes and fangs for her soul…

Zigzag shuddered.
“Excuse me sir,” she addressed the man holding her in the air with all of the human manners she could muster. “Could you please drag me away somewhere private?”
Then she could eat him without Cennen knowing about it.

Apparently that means something completely different for humans because the man roared as if she was mocking him. Zigzag smiled because that was good. Most humans deserved to be mocked or eaten.

Then he punched her in the face. She barely felt it but pretended she did so Cennen wouldn’t be mad at her later. She landed in a heap in the cobbles and the man started kicking her in the gut repeatedly.

Zigzag just sighed and curled into a ball so that the man would at least feel like his kicks were doing something. Was he going to stop and go away if she just lay here for long enough? Maybe. That was boring though. What else was there to do?
Maybe the cobbles tasted good.

Interlude 51

Zigzag winced when she felt glass breaking against her skin. The man’s kicks had broken open the Warmth Brew that she had taken to requesting almost daily from Cennen. It helped her forget the gunk warmth.
You know what else would help her forget the gunk warmth? Eating this man.

But alas, a third party intervened before she could do anything. Another young man pushed himself between her and her ‘assailant’, the rest of the crowd muttering and booing the man that had attacked her. Some things were just too far and they were finally stepping in.

“Strewth! You wanna go-”
The drunk man was dropped with a single left hook by Zigzag’s would-be rescuer. He knelt down beside her, taking one of her hands in his.
She briefly contemplated shredding him with her scales but kept the urge hidden. Like most other humans in Zigzag’s perception, this new man was something meant for food or other base sensations but was something she was not allowed to eat and so the kind of attention she paid to him was a thoughtless void.
If she had, she would have noticed the red on the man’s cheeks as he lifted her up and carried her to safety and she would have been utterly perplexed by it.

“Here, you’ll be safe here.”
A small home on the second floor of a little stone building. The man’s home apparently.
“Don’t worry about Old Sten, he’s a nut. Do you want me to get some guards or-”

Now certain that they were absolutely alone, Zigzag breathed venom in his face and sent him toppling to the ground. He made a little baffled ‘eeee’ sound, the only power his vocal cords had left as Zigzag clumsily slithered over to his limp hand and began stuffing it into her mouth.

>Mess with Orange.

The window to suggest memories should only be a few seconds to a minute long so you best use that time wisely. You sigh.
"Sorry, must have messed that up. The one I made for you yesterday worked, right?"

Orange nodded.

"Come to think of it, that was when I was talking to Elle. You remember that?"

Orange nods and is about to speak but you stop him.

"How? You only came in after I left. You didn't hear us talk."

Orange's eyes cloud as he briefly witnesses two conflicting events. But the beautiful thing about memory was that if you didn't dwell on it then you just tended to...paper over it. Orange blinks.
"Oh, sorry. Yeah. What were you talking about anyway?"

"Not much."
There. You don't know how long that'll stick. Probably just for a few hours and then however long it is before Orange recalls the situation again. It could be ages before Orange remembers your potentially treasonous conversation with Elle.

And while you're here, why not mess with him a little bit more? This could be useful. After all, you've just remembered that you left Blue at the inn.
"By the way are you going to fetch Blue?"

"Blue?"

"Yeah. Remember? Hiss told you to make sure she was around to babysit Eva."

Orange pales.
"I forgot! I have to go get her before the Queen notices I haven't!"

"No worries!," you call out as he flees. And then, a few more words.
"And stop coming onto Hiss! She already shot you down and humiliated you in front of everyone."

You watch Orange's retreating back cringe just a little bit more as that temporary memory sets in.
Good times.

With that taken care of, you search the mansion for Eva and Hom. Where have they gone?

If you touch me again you will be my next ingredient.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Hold it steady!

You find them down in the basement, both of them bent over a large iron pot that they must have taken from the kitchen.

You decide to hang back for now. They're not just brewing...they're experimenting. They're trying to make something new. You can't help but feel proud. So why not just watch?

You stay in the shadows and watch...and watch...and watch...and holy shit it's been over an hour. Even an experimental brew should be done by now, especially for these two. What the fuck?
You can't understand them either because they keep gabbling in their nonspeak.

Interlude 52
Zigzag gnawed on the man’s hand to little effect. Human teeth just aren’t very good at this and even when she bares her fangs it didn’t make much of a difference. Fangs aren’t made for chewing. But while she had broken the skin in multiple places and supped on his blood, she had run into her age-old enemy when it came to eating humans.
Size differences.

Even in her human form, much larger than her snake form, she couldn’t force the man into her mouth. She couldn’t even fit his whole arm down there! Maybe she should have stolen some of Cennen’s potions. He used one of them to make a human really small once so that she could eat him in one gulp! Or maybe something that worked the other way round. If she was as big as Aashenpreets true form then she’d be able to eat this man no problem.
But for now all she could do was chew pointlessly and make the paralyzed human whimper in pain. Zigzag wasn’t like the Queen so his whimpers carried no intrinsic value for her.

She could always eat the soul?
Zigzag much preferred to eat meat rather than souls. They didn’t sit right inside of her. She always dissolved them as quickly as she could because of that. But still, better than nothing. Maybe she could take the soul first to tide her over and then get to work slowly biting off his fingers. Sounds like a plan!

And yet as she dragged herself on top of him and looked into his fear-filled eyes...she remembered. She remembered it all. She had once been in this man’s exact position. Oh no. Oh no no no no. She felt sick for some reason. Not the gunk sickness either but a twisting in her stomach. She knew what it felt like now. For the first time in her life she knew how a human felt in the last few moments before the end.
Most snakes handle this rather well. To them empathy is but an obstacle to be overcome. But Zigzag is not most snakes and she had never felt anything so human before.

>>46026365

Something like this. Let them know how much you enjoy being able to have people to work with that you trust and how proud you are they are taking initiative.
>>
>Go along with it, see how far she goes.

You can't stop your grin from spreading. You're pretty sure neither of them can properly read expressions anyway.
"Is that so? That's fantastic! Can I help?"

"What do we do now?"

"aa."

"Yes you can. But...we would like to do most of the work ourselves. To know we can."

You nod.
"That's fair. I know the feeling. It's great to just sit back and work with someone you can trust."

You sit down and watch them continue brewing. Eva keeps taking furtive glances in your direction.
They're also not actually brewing anything right now. They're doing their best to look like they are but they're just in a holding pattern, keeping the brew as it is while they wait for you to leave.

"I'm so proud of you two. Actually taking the initiative and everything."

You wait several more minutes as they chatter with each other in their unvoices.

"I have a new plan. Stay here.

Eva stops stirring.
"I'm sorry. We lied to you."

You can't stop yourself from smiling.
"I know that. So what is it then? And why?"

Eva looks you dead in the eye with her soulless orbs.
"I don't know! Hom's been forcing me to make it! He told me that if I didn't help him he'd kill me!"

Wait. Is that true? Could Hom be forcing Eva to brew homunculi against her will? But why would Hom do that?
But then again, Hom has always been...strange.

Eva circles until you're between her and Hom. Hom remains still and impassive.
"Hom is an out of control beast. He threatens me constantly whenever you're not around. You destroyed him once, you need to do it once more!"

>Fuck, this could be serious. Get Hom away from the brew.

There's a few things in her story here that just aren't right! You hold up your hand.
"Hold on. How did Hom 'tell' you anything? He's a mute."

"We have our ways."

Eva pauses and then shakes her head.
"No. I would have stopped you. It was just a bad lie. I'm sorry."

Interlude 53

“It’s called empathy, Zigzag.”

Zigzag looked up at the familiar voice as part of the plaster wall suddenly differentiated itself from the whole. A woman stepped forward, her skin the same pattern as the world around her for just a brief moment before she returned to her normal self. Aashenpreet.
When did she get so good at camouflage?
“What’s that?”
She had thought that she had dodged the constrictor’s oversight hours ago but apparently not. Had she been following her secretly this entire time?

“Empathy is one of the guiding lights that Aashimid has seen fit to grant our souls. To empathize is to understand others, to know what it’s like to be them.”

Zigzag groaned and clutched her head.
“Just tell me how to make it go away.”

Aashenpreet knelt beside her, one hand on Zigzag’s head as if offering protection.
“I’m sorry but there is no cure for empathy. Nor should there be. Accept it.”

Zigzag settled for just groaning again.
“I don’t want to! It just makes me feel bad all of the time.”

Aashenpreet smiled and smoothed the prone girl’s hair back so she could get a better look at her face. Having the constrictor so close made Zigzag uncomfortable. Like she was about to be attacke. But she was invulnerable, wasn’t she? Unfortunately for Zigzag, there are many different ways to be vulnerable beyond the physical and all of them were beyond the understanding. So she had no comprehension to just how weak she was to Aashenpreet right now. Of course, Aashenpreet herself would not think of it that way.
“If empathy makes a person feel bad then that is not the fault of the emotion but rather that of the person themselves. A truly pure and good person can possess all of the empathy in the world and yet walk with a light heart for they know that what they do is the best they can. Only those who do wrong must run and suffer from empathy’s touch.”

1/?
>>
>>46027423
“So how do I get rid of it?”

Aashenpreet laughed.
“I don’t think you understand Ziggy. The trick is not to get rid of it but to become someone so righteous and good that empathy will not hurt.”

“How do I do that? I want to eat people.”

“Don’t worry. What if I told you you can be a good person and still eat humans?”

Zigzag’s eyes widened.
“How?”

“First, you’re going to have to stop your current eating habits. Prioritizing the flesh over the soul is spiritually unhealthy and destroying those souls you eat is the worst sin of all. Let me ask you something. Have you ever thought about how life must be like as a human?”

Zigzag shrugged.

“I didn’t think so. Another advantage of empathy. The truth is that many humans live short sad lives full of pain and suffering. Suffering is the bedrock of the human existence. And when they die they spin upon the wheel and are reborn as humans again. To suffer again.”

“Wait. Humans get reborn?”
She’d never heard of that but Zigzag knew she didn’t know much about humans. And Aashenpreet was very smart even if she was also very annoying.

“Absolutely. And the Wheel is their prison, to be reborn over and over into a life of pain and...humanity. Only by ascending the Wheel and forever leaving the cycle of rebirth can they be free. And you know the only way that can happen, don’t you?”

Zigzag looked down at herself.

“Correct. Only through being eaten and gently nursed within our gullets can humans enjoy a proper afterlife free of suffering and rebirth. That is why what you do is wrong Zig. You shred their souls and send them to oblivion when you could be granting them paradise.”

“And if I do that I’ll stop feeling bad?”

“Yes but only if you TRULY believe it. You must be certain in the goodness of your actions and strong in the faith. When you know that your deeds are good then empathy will be only boon and never a curse.”

2/3
>>
>>46027423
So, Aash doesn't actually understand empathy. Well, for a snake that isn't too bad.
>>
>>46027445
“But...I really like the bodies.”

“That’s fine Zigzag. Eating the corpses of the dead is one way my people honor great and loyal humans. It is the finest burial there is. Just remember: As long as you take their soul and swallow it whole and never let it go...the human is not suffering. They are enjoying the best fate they could possibly have. There is nothing to feel guilty about.”

“I remember being eaten. I was really scared and I felt really bad.”

“And living along the right path can make all of that go away. You see your actions through a lens of hunger and carnality and so when confronted with empathy, you see only base horror. You must realize that what we do is borne of love and kindness and to act on those. And you can start today.”
Aashenpreet helped Zigzag to her feet.
“Eat this man. Eat his soul but do NOT destroy it. Let it rest within you as a reward for his noble actions in saving you and know that what you do is right and you will find peace from what ails you.”

Zigzag stared up at Aashenpreet, starstruck.
“Is there more of this?”

Zigzag didn’t understand why Aash looked so overyjoyed. The constrictor was almost crying with happiness.
“Oh Zigzag! Finally! Let me tell you about Aashimid.”

The man groaned loudly as the venom began to slowly wear off.

“After you send this fine gentleman to a better place, that is.”

Hmph. You mostly trust your homunculi. And if Hiss needs you for something urgent and you don't come immediately she's going to hold it against you for ages.
"Sure thing. Lead the way."

Orange isn't leading you back towards the master bedroom, you notice. So where's Hiss?
As you walk, you gently nudge Orange in the side with your elbow.
"So how's everything with you and Hiss going? After...you know?"

The fake memory is still holding strong because Orange flushes and looks extremely displeased that you brought it up.
"It's fine. I can't believe I did that. Her Majesty was in the right for how she treated me."

Hehehe. Of course, this could be a problem when Orange inevitable tries to apologize for Hiss for something he didn't do but...you have a feeling that if you let Hiss in on it beforehand she'll gladly keep up the ruse just to fuck with him.

Orange leads you further downstairs to a different basement. How many cellars does a single mansion need?
Hiss is waiting for you down in the darkness, sitting on a comfortable couch that had clearly been dragged down here from someone's living room. You can only hope that the former owners are still alive.
She's resting her feet on something you can't quite make out in the darkness.

She waves as she sees you coming.
"Hey Cennen! How's your day been?"

"Fine. Fine."
It's sort of hard to look at her right now without thinking back to this morning. She had looked very different back then.

"Good to hear. And for what it's worth Cennen, don't worry about this morning. I really don't hold it against you. I like to see a little backbone every now and then you know? Not TOO much. Just some."

Orange is staring at the both of you, clearly unwilling to be privy on your sex lives.

"So what'd you call me down here for Hiss?"

"Check it."
Hiss lifts a shapely leg for just a moment, thumping it down on the huddled shape in front of it. It lets out a muffled groan.

"Remember this guy? I was just going to kill him since he knows way too much but then I remembered, hey, Cennen really likes this guy! I should probably get his opinion on what I do with him."

She kicks the thing forward and it staggers to a crawl with a brief wail of pain. It's a man, an old man in blue robes. He's been beaten rather severely, covered in bruises and cuts and the way he hobbles suggests at least on broken bone.
He looks up at you wildly and with desperate hope.
"Cennen?"

"Yeah!," Hiss says. "Long time no see. It's like a reunion. Personally I think I'm being pretty thoughtful by giving you a chance to see each other again."

It's Master Yolan.

Geez Hiss really likes the living footrest thing.
>>
>>46027656
Yay, Hiss did a good.
>>
>>46027656
Yeah I figured this was coming. You'd think she would just eat his memories of what we told him,
>>
Anyway that's that. The thread's been archived and we're done for today! We ran for a fairly long time and a lot of stuff happened so it's all good for me.
I hope you guys had fun, check the twitter for the next thread etc etc. Thanks for staying up so late!
>>
>>46027710
Thanks for running! That was a really fun thread. Good stuff.
>>
Actually, I do have a question to ask any of you folks still lingering around in regards to Hiss quasi-lewds thing we had going for a short while there since some of you seemed uncomfortable with actually selecting lewd wishes.
Is that sort of stuff fine with you occasionally or would you prefer it to be kept entirely fade to black like it usually is?
>>
>>46027656
We should give him to Zigzag as a pet to make her warmth potions and humanize her, with STRICT instructions to not eat him or let him get hurt.
>>
>>46027748
I AM TOTALLY FINE WITH THIS.

Seriously, though, I feel so long as you aren't going into detail it's cool. Especially since a balance of power with domination and submission is such a large part of both the relationship and Hiss' personality.
>>
>>46027748
That stuff was good, I just wasn't expecting it which is why I felt weird. That level of detail is nice because it's actually relevant to hiss and cennens relationship
>>
>>46027748
It was just my expectation that it is a blue board.
>>
>>46027564
Yes. Please. Aash is kinda nice but is more fucked up than Hiss is someways. At least our girl knows what she is.
>>
>>46027808
I've seen some quests with graphic smut. This is nothing compared to those and they've been running for a long time.
>>
>>46027748
It was good, just don't want it going down too too often, in explicit detail anyway. Every once in a while would be cool though. Might I suggest fading to black in thread then posting the lewds in a pastebin so people can more easily skip it if they choose?
>>
>>46027840
The thing is that then we can't vote on what to do.

It was pretty mild and tasteful too, there's no "her hot, throbbing hemipene burst out and you grip it firmly. No no, not you you whisper as you tighten your grip and she whines beneath you in anticipatory frustration."
>>
>>46027748
So did we wish for Hiss to eat the dick or not? It wasn't very explicit.
>>
>>46027840
>graphic torture and murder is okay
>somewhat vague lewdness isn't
>>
>>46027901
>Trusting moderators
>>
>>46027900
Yes.
>>
>>46027782
Understood.

>>46027840
>>46027901
>>46027905
I'll think about it. I'll admit that I am actually super wary of being banned by a moderator for doing this stuff because god knows I can't predict how or when they do their thing. Feels like running across the rail lines sometimes you know?

>>46027900
Yes anon, she ate the dick. She was outraged but the wish made her do to the best of her ability anyway and she wasn't even that mad afterwards because it catered to her secret desire to occasionally not be the one weighed down by literally all of the power. The way wishes remove all of that by taking away choice appeals to that as long as it's just safe fooling around with someone she completely trusts. And before you get eager or something, she will literally never suck your cock without being forced by a wish.

Cennen was really weirded out because that kind of position of power is uh, something he's never been with Hiss before. To say the least.
>>
>>46027973
Just wanted to agree with >>46027840 in that it should be done sparsely, with fading to black most of the times.
I like this level of detail, but it can be overdone and weight down on the story if it becomes the norm
