Kuru was kind enough to direct you to a giant monster you can kill and give to your Mom as an apology for breaking your house. She even said it has the bonus of being poisonous. Or venomous. You really can't keep the two straight.

She sent you out to the western side of the mountains by your house, and you quickly located the "big sandy spot" Kuru mentioned. You dropped a deer on it to lure the monster out, again as Kuru suggested.

You dropped a whole deer.

Most of a deer...

At least half of a deer. Look, there is some deer on the sandy pit and it lured the monster out. It will never know that it could've gotten a whole deer out of the deal. Also you got hungry mid-flight.

MASTERED [IN-FLIGHT SNACK]

Still, you might have a problem. This monster is significantly larger than expected. Like three times your size, larger than expected. It's closer to Mom sized than you like in your meals. Okay, that's a lie you'd totally eat something that big.

The beast that came rushing out of the sand to snatch up your half deer is also pretty crab like. If crabs were longer, and had whippy tails that dripped something nasty from a huge stinger. You're not sure to approach this.

Settling onto a rocky outcropping overlooking the sand pit you make your decision. You're going to lay waste to this not-crab and everything it's ever loved.

Hopefully it's a serious narcissist though, because you really don't intend to track down the things it loves.

You try to back, while keeping you attention on the not-crab. It appears to be distracted by swallowing the deer whole, so you've got a moment to get solidly into the bask before you try to mix in non-basking things.

The sun fills you, the morning light charges every scale on our body and then sinks deeper as you draw it in. You condense it, then you put it under great pressure. Your skin alights with gathering energy.

As the long seconds of charge time tick by the not-crab hastily puts away the deer. Half a deer isn't much of a meal to this thing, and it's gone after a few moments. It starts to burrow back into the sand but stops as one of its eyes, and you notice it has a lot, spot the glowing lizard nearby. It turns and starts shuffling toward you curiously, its tail twitching and dripping more of the corrosive stuff as it approaches.

A few seconds later you feel like you've got enough of a charge. You suddenly increase the pressure and make an opening to release the energy. A shard of energy straight from the sun issues forth from in front of your mouth, forming into a spear of light almost as big around as your shoulders.

The beam digs into the not-crab and you it let's out a monsterous screech and whips its tail in your direction, a torrent of yellowish white fluid spraying from its stinger. The attack misses, splashing harmlessly onto the cliff below you, but still manages to disrupt your attack as the ground suddenly falls out from under your feet. You're forced to take flight to avoid falling, and a good portion of your attack is dissipated harmlessly into the sky.

Far away, in space, an asteroid that wouldn't destroy the planet, but would definitely make a big hole, is struck by a beam of light. Its course redirected it misses the planet entirely.

It looks like the crab managed ot mess your footing up before you got a good shot off, the beast's greyish black carapace is shiny in the spot where you shot it but only bleeds from a very small hole in its back, which appears to be sealing over quickly. You weave around in your flight as the not-crab sprays more of its melty venom at you, and you get some distance to consider your next move. It certainly won't be another beam. You're incredibly tired and will need a couple minutes to catch your breath before you do anything sun related again. Your scales, a dull burnt black, agree that you could have handled that shot better.

You climb a bit higher, and feel the gorge in your throat rise as you begin your attack.

Balls of rolling burning flame fly from your mouth as you spit them out over and over. You figured out this trick the other night when you accidentally blasted Mom out of the house. The flames aren't quite as burny but the balls possess a good amount of concussive force when the hit something and explode. They go off just as you expect them too, except either too late or too soon.

The tail of the snot-crab, you're not above juvenile insults you're only a month or so old, is a hard target to begin with, but the not-crab iself moving seems patently unfair. Half your shots miss entirely, and the ones that can't be evaded by skittering out of the way are shot out of the sky by concentrated bursts of acid stuff.

You growl and fire again, only to be interrupted as a long shot from the not-crab sets your fireball off in your face just as you fire it!

It takes all your new-found flying skill to keep from tumbling straight into the ground as the blast knocks you silly. The damage largely mitigated by a combination of your own sturdiness and your fire resistance, but the ground would be less forgiving had you just fallen uncontrolled into it. You claw to your feet and see a not-crab three times your size bearing down on you.

With careful anticipation you juke out of the way of the not-crabs charge, only for it to turn to continue toward you with barely any loss of speed, apparently more legs can help with stopping and turning. You end up having to do a backward leap to get space as a not-crab pincer slams into the ground where you were standing.

Letting out a fiery growl that sets your scales to burning magically, you try to close with the monster again. Despite it's size it's still very agile though. You utterly fail to get behind it, but manage to avoid getting grabbed as you keep diving in and out of its range trying to tempt the tail out. The not-crab obstinately refuses to use the tail though, in favor of trying to grab or crush you with its pincers.

You get one shot at the tail when the crab manages to snake a pincer around behind a slower dodge and grabs you own precious tail. As soon as its grip was solid the tail slammed down try and inject that acid poison stuff into you. It took a quick move to get out of the way and when the stinger returned to its original position the flames of your mantle had apparently caught the tip of its tail on fire. Little drops of fire leaking out with the small splashes of poison.

Sadly, the not-crab seems largely fire proof. It attacks you uncaring of the flames covering you. The only evidence the fire affects the beast at all is a slight shine on spots the held you directly. The monsters carapace is ridiculously sturdy too, rebuffing your claws with impunity

Alright, this isn't going super well. You decide to take some distance, and manage to get ahead of the not-crab a bit by spraying flame in its face as you leap back. An eye glazes over as flames lick it and you take to the sky ahead of snapping pincers.

It occurs to you that even if you kill this thing, which you could do, somehow... probably... you still don't have a way to move something this big easily. If you move it somewhere closer to home you at least have slightly more favorable terrain. The open sandy area is great for you, but even better for the not-crab. You can move in the swamp better than it, you're sure, and then you have the options of reinforcements from siblings, or just taking it straight to Kasha.

You float back toward the mountains between you and the swamp, the not-crab in fast pursuit. Harrying it with fireballs hurries it along enough, and you notice its legs carry it up the cliffside as easily as anywhere else, if somewhat more slowly.

The not-crab's progress is good as you fly in close to keep tempting it toward you as you spray fire and fireballs at it to keep its attention. Thoroughly enraged the beast doesn't even seem to notice when it transfers from the loose mountain scrub and forest into proper swamp.

It's still moving pretty well in the swamp, though it's pincers are doing more logging just to chase you than any lizard has probably done in the past hundred years. As it gets into areas of deeper water you have to actually land to keep its attention and forward momentum. It has to hold itself up higher to keep its body out of the water and refuses to sink even its belly into the swampwater.

>>
>>46066667

You're just debating whether it's far enough into the swamp to fight now when you feel warmth start creeping into your body again. Your scales are no longer the dull black from burning out and take on a healthy gleam as the sun's light gives you a dose of vigor. Your sun abilities are back.

Well, Mom might like fighting this thing herself, but you can't help feeling like you can take it. Maybe if you were to just... fight a little more while taking it to her. If it were to die because it was too slow, that wouldn't be your fault.

Tapping your dagger to life long enough to switch your cloak of fire for a water one you become a little more aggressive with the not-crab. Your fireballs light up the darker swamp and with the trees in the way the not-crab can't shoot them down nearly as easily. Fire and explosions rock the crab, forcing it to shield itself with its pincers as it continues to plow through trees and undergrowth to try and catch you. The flipside of course is that you have to get closer to the not-crab to have straight lines of fire on it. As its sprays of acidic poison start falling too close you take to retreating into the water, then flying out to resume your attacks.

As you slowly work your way back through the swamp you notice the not-crab is having a harder time getting through the trees. Its claws, shiny and wet from a combination of the water and your fire scorching them, are having to gnaw through the trees instead of cutting clean through. Apparently dulled by the damage you've done. Looking closer you can see the beginning of cracks spreading inbetween sections of warped carapace.

Then you are surprised when suddenly spears thrust up from the water into the joints of the not-crab, the lizards that own them following them up to try and jam them in harder.

Half the not-crab collapses into the shallows of the swamp and it begins thrashing, its legs catching lizards seemingly at random.

You're a good lizard. You don't eat people who aren't jerks, and really you don't feel much of a need to eat those who are. When you see someone hunting you don't butt in without an invitation. And you certainly don't try to STEAL THEIR KILL.

So you're very polite, even as your breath turns steamy with water boiling from your internal temperature. You straighten up to your full height on a mossy island and call for attention.

"HEY!"

The lizards stop, some of them in mid-attack. The swamp, always noisy on some level or another goes quiet. Even the not-crab stops struggling, and you feel all attention fall on you.

You can feel the vague striped pattern of your scales begin to oscillate between high and low values as your glow intensifies. Your water cloak becomes rough and choppy, carrying the light away from you and enhancing the effect. You huff and a breath of steam flows out.

"LEAVE!" you roar, fire pouring out with the word to crawl across the water of the swamp and ignite anything sticking up out of the water.

The lizards don't hesitate, they disappear into the water the same they appeared, leaving behind weapons, tools, and the broken bodies of friends.

Then the not-crab starts moving. It apparently feels it's had enough, it'd like to go home now. It starts limping back toward the mountain, spears and ropes popping out or snapping with each successful motion.

You won't have any of it. Rushing forward you dig your claws into the thick armor of the not-crab and pull. Your claws, which before failed to scratch the armor now leave long grooves in the not-crab before penetrating as you hit the shiny spots you've been making. Unfortunately bracing yourself in a swamp doesn't work particularly well. The not-crab continues in its attempts to flee.

You shriek a challenge to the not-crab as you dig in as hard as you can and bite at the base of the not-crab's tail. For a moment the shell stops your teeth, then you see red as you ravage the monster with fire at point blank rage. Your jaw closes and you swallow reflexively. Fluid sprays from the spot you bit into and the not-crab's tail flails erratically. You take another bite, and more fluid sprays you as the tail fails completely. It hangs limply and twitches.

The not-crab shrieks and it tries to to pick up the pace and fails. You release it and move to one side. One of the thrashing legs splashes you so you grab onto it as well as you can with your wing-claws, and you pull. After a long moment the leg comes free, spraying more bodily fluids all over, your water cloak catches them and washes them away from you before the ever touch you. Then you return the leg, pointed end first, back into the scorpion.

You repeat the process with the other legs, stopping only to apply fire so your cumbersome claws can get a better grip, and then like the first jam them into the not-crab's body. When on the last leg a pincer reaches over to try and grab you, you spin around and slam it with your tail, sending a long series of weblike cracks through the already weakened and brutalized appendage. It doesn't reach for you again.

>>46067947
[2/2]
As you climb on top of the crab to get to the legs on the other side, it begins to thrash as wildly as it can. With a glower you do a short stomping jump, forcing the monster into the muck and water. Then you wreathe its head in fire before punching through the weakened carapace and stirring. The not-crab lets out a death wail and tries to thrash again, but instead it only twitches feebly as you finally hit something important. You tear it out and eat it.

Steam mists around you, your cloak fighting to keep you covered in only liquid water as the heat of your temper tries to cook it of. Little lines of angry light you failed to notice pulsing between your scales begin to fade as you notice them. Your breathing becoming heavy and labored as exhaustion sets in. You sit down on top of the not-crabs half floating corpse and try to catch your breath.

Someone is clapping. A slow tail clap. Either mocking or impressed, you can't tell. You're tired now.

Looking around you find your mother sitting on a nearby bank. Her eyes are sharp and you would probably flinch under her gaze if you could work up the energy to. She stops clapping and looks at you expectantly.

You shrug. "I got you breakfast."

Instead we had to endure the loss of our dear tail... Tail-chan I 2015-2015 RIP never forget

Surprisingly I don't get along with hoofed animals and vice versa. Like at all. The best relationship I had with one was a calf who was only using me for the bottle of milk I was forced to feed it as a chore. It stank. Stupid calf.

And now my laptop battery is just about run out. I'm gonna get back to work. G'night you guys. Thanks again for coming
