Welcome back to WrestleQuest! This is a SOL Quest in which you take the role of young Robin Winters, as he tries to make it big in the crazy world of pro-wrestling under the persona of The Ace.

Last thread, you were reunited with the man who trained you... and he's a lot more depressing than you remember him.

>Player Question
Would you have preferred for this Quest to contain character art? Or do you prefer imagining the characters in your head?

>TUESDAY, MARCH 29th 2016

You enter your apartment to find Kimberly seated on your couch, with her head buried in your hands. She had called you earlier about a situation she was in with her sister, and you texted David telling him to let her inside as you rushed back to the building. Though you did stop into the shop next to your apartment complex for a brief moment. Your relationship with Kimberly is in a strange place at the current moment, but you knew you should grab something for her when she's going through a hard time. The two of you always bought something for the other in these kinds of situations since your friendship began.

For that reason, you made sure to buy;
>A box of handkerchiefs.
>A bouquet of flowers
>Some chocolates
>>
Wooo, I didn't forget to put the archive in the OP this time. Go me!
>>
>>46074468
A dragon dildo.
Nah just joking
>A box of handkerchiefs.

If you want to use character art use it otherwise I'm fine.
>>
>>46074468
>Some chocolates
The ultimate compromise. The vote will probably be close.

>Player Question
If you can find something that actually looks like them. In my process I usually use character art to come up with the character so I know it fits. It's not really a big deal to me whether or not you have art.
>>
>>46074599
Also Hype.
>>
>>46074468
>player question
Doesn't matter either way to me

>A box of hankerchiefs
>>
>>46074468
>>A box of handkerchiefs.
>>
>>46074468
>Player Question
I'm okay with player art if you've got some drawn up. But honestly, I'm okay with the image=place setup you've got going right now. Only really would like to see if if it was drawn, because that shit is neat.

>Box of handkerchiefs
Chocolates are nice and all, but I am doubting that it is the right time for that. She is incredibly distraught.

And now, for a shower thought. Robin is half Japanese. Kevin Omega stated that he had a kid with a Japanese wrestler that just started wrestling. There was no stating of age or gender of said kid, nor when Kevin was in Japan. I'm not saying that there is a blood relation. But this is mighty coincidental.

>Box of handkerchiefs

She sounded like she was crying a lot over the phone, so you decided to grab a box of handkerchiefs for her. Anything else felt too... romantic. This was a time for comfort, not of romance.

"Hey, Princess..." you say, shutting the door the the apartment behind you.

Kimberly jolts up from the couch upon hearing your voice, and runs towards you, embracing you tightly. As she rises, you see that she has a band-aid attached to the upper rights part of her forehead. "What happened?"

Kimberly sniffs as you hand her the box of handkerchiefs and walk with her back to the couch, where she lays her head on your shoulder as she speaks.

"W-well... I've been working with Jenny a lot on the TWA shows... and last night, we decided to have a no holds barred match. It fit the story... anyway, I didn't want to seem soft or weak, so I told Jenny to make sure I got busted open for the match, get some colour. Pretty irresponsible, I know... but it worked out fine. We had a good match. But... but when I got home to my sister and she saw this, she freaked. We've argued before, but not this bad, or this long. By the end of it... she kicked me out! And I don't think she's going to welcome me back anytime soon..."

The tears start streaming down her face as she hugs into you tighter on the couch.

>Kimberly, I think it's time you told me about your family.
>Silently embrace her.
>>
>>46074920
>>Kimberly, I think it's time you told me about your family.

If we can meld the two, if not.

She needs comfort, not confrontation
>>
>>46074920
>>Kimberly, I think it's time you told me about your family.
>>
>Kimberly, I think it's time you told me about your family.

"What?" Kimberly looks up at you, confused.

"Kimberly, you told me about every time you and sister have had a fight, and you seem to have them a lot. What I don't know is why? What's the deal with you and her?"

Kimberly sits up, cross-legged on the couch, pulling out handkerchiefs. "I... I guess since we're together now, I shouldn't hide it from you..."

She takes a deep breath. "Okay, here it goes... I come from a wealthy family. My parents were socialites who inherited from their own parents and, well... they obviously didn't want their beautiful little girl to become a wrestler... they forced me to attend ballerina classes. A lot of ballerina classes... I hated it. I hated them for trying to turn me into some perfect little stuck-up... princess! I had it ingrained into me from the moment I was born, and no matter how much I try, that part of me still manages to surface up. I was raised to be stuck-up and prissy and entitled, and that's not what I want to be. I hated them for making me like that, and I hated them for keeping me from my dream, so I secretly enrolled myself in Omega's dojo and started going there when I was supposed to be at my dancing lessons. My sister tried to cover for me... but the lie didn't last long. When they found out, they demanded that I quit the wrestling school, or they would write the both of us out of their will. I couldn't give up my dream, and I couldn't leave that school, not after I got a taste for it, not after meeting a guy who I fell in love with..."

Her hands clasped yours tight.

"My sister knew they were serious about the threat, but she stuck by me. They kicked me out, and I went to live with her... and things were fine, until..."

Kimberly chokes on the last part.

"Last year, my parents died in a car accident."

>Oh god, I'm so sorry. I never knew.
>And you and your sister never got the money?
>>
>>46075347
>>And you and your sister never got the money?
So you've been arguing with her about the bills?
>>
>>46075347
Well then...this was a development I did not expect.

>Oh god, I'm so sorry. I never knew.

Asking about the money is pretty callous right now, and more or less implied anyways...
>>
>>46075347

>>

>>46075347
>Oh god, I'm so sorry. I never knew.
>>
Kinda want to go ask the sister what the fuck ya know?
>>
>Oh god, I'm so sorry. I never knew.

"It's okay, how could you know? I did my best to make sure nobody knew. I just thought that if people knew I was some snooty rich girl who was rebelling against her dead parents, nobody would ever respect me. My sister certainly doesn't..."

"Didn't she stand by you when you went to wrestling school?" you ask.

"Yeah, but all that changed when my parents died and we found out for a fact that they did write us out of the will. My sister always knew the threat was serious, but I don't think she fully realised the consequences. How she had to pay for the funeral for herself, how she has had to support me financially while I go out and get myself beat up at night... I made a huge sacrifice to follow my dream, but she didn't have to make those sacrifices for me too! She was fine with it at first, knowing it made me happy, but as time went on she started to resent me more and more... for costing her all of the inheritance, and for spitting in the face of our family's legacy by doing something as base and low-brow as... this! I've... ruined everything, haven't I? Now even my sister hates me..."

>No, you've been following your dream against all opposition, and you've made huge sacrifices for it. You have nothing to be ashamed about.
>Your sister doesn't hate you. You're having disagreements now, but she's bound to respect your tenacity.
>Just wait Kimberly. One day, you're going to make it big, and you'll be able to repay your sister for the support she's given you.
>Just wait Kimberly. One day, you're going to make it big, and you'll be able to wave that money right in her face.

"You... you really think so?"

"I know it." You hold Kimberly close, comforting her. "She's your sister, and she's stood by you through so much before. She's frustrated now, but it's only a matter of time before she comes to her senses and welcomes you back."

Kimberly pauses, thinking for a moment. "Yeah... I think you might be right. Thanks Ace, I knew I could count on you." She leans in close and plants a kiss on your lips. She pulls away when another thought occurs to her. "But until she does come to her senses... I'm going to need a place to stay."

"Kimberly..."

"Yeah, I know this place is already kinda full with David staying here, but I figured since we were together now... I could maybe share your room? I wouldn't ask like this, it's just... I don't really have anywhere else I can go..."

Maybe we should pool our money together and get a bigger place

That is true.

This relationship is what, a few days old? Sure, living together is gonna go great.

I kinda agree with >>46076169, we should start getting people to pony up for a bigger apartment if this is gonna keep up.
>>
>>46076237
Yeah, we're starting to become a hotel/hostel/halfway house with David, Kevin(don't think he won't try and sneak back in) and now Kimberly.

We should probably emphasize that this is a temporary arrangement until we find a better living situation for all parties involved.
>>
>>46076237
That's why I think it's a bad idea but I'm the minority once again.

Seems a bit ore meditated though. She knows her sister doesn't exactly like her wrestling so imma get hurt and go move in with the guy I've been pinning for awhile now and finally got. I'm hurt paranoid as fuck as she is almost an a match for an ex in personality.
>>
>>46076313

I'm also a little paranoid about the convenient timing here. This quest is going to end with her wrestling us to death as it turns out to have been a really horrible magical realm quest the whole time.
>>
>Of course you can stay here

Kimberly smiles. "That's great... I know it might be little weird, I mean... we've only been together for a very short time... but we've been best friends for two years. That cancels out the weird part, right? And it'll only be for a little while!"

"Well, I'm certainly not leaving you without a place to stay," you reply. "If it means offering my bed, then that's just what I'm going to do."

Kimberly smirked and ran a finger up your chest. "Speaking of offering your bed... I don't think David will be back from the gym for a while, so why don't we..."

The door slams open and David walks inside.

"Oh, well forget what I just said."

"David! What are you doing back so early?" you ask, slightly annoyed.

"Kassius was at the gym," David replied. "I couldn't guarantee myself that I wouldn't try to tear his head off if he spoke to me, so I decided to leave early. I was thinking we could spend the day watching tapes instead. Don't forget, you're returning to the ring on Friday. Princess, you can join us too, if you're done crying."

>Sure! That sounds like fun!

"Don't be stupid, Princess. Nothing's better than sex." David just isn't taking any hints, is he?

"By the way, David... Kimberly will be staying here for a while too..."

"I'm fine with that." David pulled out the box of wrestling tapes. "I like the Princess. As long as she doesn't touch my food, I have no problem with her staying."

"That's good to hear-"

"-And whatever you do, don't keep me up all night with the sound of you two humping. I don't ever want to hear that."

"...Fantastic, we'll be sure to keep it to a minimum."

"We will?" Kimberly mumbles.

"Now... it's your place, Ace. You get the choice, what tapes are we going to study?

>Technical

The three of you opt to watch a collection of tapes of 70's British Catch-as-catch can wrestling, particularly the work of the legendary St. John, in order to better understand the technical aspect of wrestling. The three of you hang out on the couch, with David sitting to your left and Kimberly curled up on your right, and with Cat Jenny hanging someone behind your head, until it turns late in the night. Kimberly yawns, and you take her by the hand as you make your way off the couch. You wish David a goodnight, before retiring into your own room.

As you enter, Kimberly sits herself down on the edge of your bed, and starts to seductively pat the mattress. "Just you... me... and the bed. Good thing too, because I am very, very... well, actually I'm kinda tired right now." Kimbrly falls back on the bed and begins to doze off.

So are you. You had almost forgotten how early in the morning you were woken by Kevin. In fact, you had completely neglected to mention Kevin to Kimberly. That's definitely something you'll have to bring up sooner or later. Until then, you curl up under the blankets with Kimberly and get some much needed sleep.

>WEDNESDAY, MARCH 30th 2016

You wake with Kimberly still asleep beside you, her arm draped over your chest. She didn't get a chance to bring clothes over from her sister's place, so for now she's sleeping in a old gym shirt and a pair of your boxer shorts. You carefully slide her hand away, rising out of bed without waking her. Your return to the ring is in two days. You're trying hard to prevent your mentor from sinking any lower than he already has. And you're in a relationship with your best friend of two years. All things considered, you have a lot of options on how to spend the day.

>Go to the Gym

You decide to spend the day getting back in shape for your big in-ring return with TWA. You kiss the sleeping princess on the cheek before getting dressed and going out to the gym.

You stretch hard, eyeing down all the gym equipment. You haven't been out of training for very long, but once you fall out of something, it becomes difficult to get back into it right off the bat. But that doesn't stop your determination. You're ready to put on the best damn show possible once you come back on Friday... though first you have to work out exactly what you're going to train today.

You spend the day working on the weight machines, working hard to regain your strength after brief time spent on the shelf. You aim to make sure you have the power you had when you last stepped foot in the ring, and then some.

At the end of the day, as you're packing up, you get a call from Patty.

"Hey Numb-nuts, Sad-sack wanted me to call you to pitch you an idea."

Patty's as pleasant as ever.

"Uhh sure... what is it?" you ask.

"He wants to go out to dinner with you and his other students. Grab a meal with them, catch up, and I'm not bothering to lie on his behalf, he's probably going to try talking them out of being wrestlers. He's literally loading another suitcase full of college money as I'm talking to you right now."

"I don't think he's going to talk any of them out of their dreams," you reply, "but actually having the others meet with the guy doesn't sound that bad an idea. It might cheer him up a little to see his other students. Will it be just him and us, or..."

"Well, I'll be going too, of course. You know, because I'm the most important person in his life and also because I'm amazing so don't complain? What do you think? Good idea? Train-wreck idea? Train-wreck you want to see?"

The thing about fighting Kassius is that, so long as we make a strong showing and don't get brain damaged, it's just going to solidify Ace as a plucky underdog.

I still think we should get Kevin to come out and be Ace's manager for the bout. That way Kevin can turn on Ace and we can get ALL the sympathy while still looking strong. (TWA definitely shouldn't let us fuck over their new franchise like this, but they're probably going bust soon anyway.)

"Wow, you're actually going for this?" you hear Patty sigh on the other end of the phone. "You just want to see this train drive right into the station, don't you? Whatever, we'll meet you there."

After you text the others letting them know what's going on, you realise just how bad this dinner could go. Eh, it can't be all that bad...
>>
>LATER THAT DAY

Okay, it's pretty bad. It seems that Kevin hasn't showered since his retirement... or changed his clothes for that matter. He's becoming more of a mess by the day, and a splotch of curry was stuck to his graying beard. When you pointed it out to him, he grunted in acknowledgement, but refused to clean it up. Adding to the awkwardness was the presence of Patty, who seemed determined to throw the rest of the group off.

"So, Patty..." Kimberly nervously get out, while digging in to her rice. "I'm a little confused. You're Kevin's...?"

"Homosexual life partner, yes." Patty answered. "And I'd rather you didn't judge."

Kimberly leaned back in her chair, annoyed.

"So Wildcard, why'd you bring us out here?" Danny asked, an excited smile on his face. Danny made sure to grab the seat next to Kevin, and kept nudging his mentor's elbows whenever her spoke. You're reminded back to your training days, when Danny was so desperate to impress Omega. It's probably what made him the star pupil in the first place. It certainly wasn't his brains. "I bet you brought us out to dinner to tell us how proud you are, right? To keep living the dream? Heh, I knew you had a soft spot for us, you old dog!" He patted Kevin hard on the back.

Kevin placed his fork down on the table and cleared his throat. "Actually Diamond... on Monday I offered Ace a bunch of money to go to college and leave the wrestling business. He turned it down, but I was going to offer the same thing to you other three... until I realised something. I don't need to worry about you, Kingpin or the Princess!"

David grunted. "Really? And why is that?"

"I bet it's because we're so responsible... right, Wildcard? You have utmost faith in us!" Danny beamed a wide smile, which Kevin didn't return.

"Actually, it's because I realised that you three aren't ever going to make it."

"Excuse me?!" Kimberly almost sprung up from her seat, but you're quick to hold her back.

"I'm just stating facts. Princess, you're twelve different shades of insecure, and you're going to keep doubting yourself until you run away, realising that you really aren't the type of person who belongs in this business. Plus, now that you've landed the man of your dreams already, you're not going to fight hard for anything anymore." Kimberly is stunned, glancing at you, before instead opting to stare at the ground.

He then turned his attention to David. "Kingpin, you're a few minutes away from an assualt and battery charge at all times. Do you really think somewhere like UPW would ever be interested in hiring someone with your pre-disposition for violence. Not to mention your criminal record..."

David calmly wipes his face with a napkin, before overturning his chair as he sits up, and storming out of the restaurant.

"And what about me?" Danny asked nervously. "I mean, I was your star pupil..."

Kevin laughed. "Oh, you still believe you were my star pupil? You never were. Ace was always the top, you just needed the validation more, and he needed to have validation withheld from him. You were decent, sure... but you were second to Ace in everything... in heart, in talent, in work ethic... and judging by how many times you've glanced at the Princess since this meal began, in romance, too."

Danny is rendered almost speechless by the tirade. "But... I..." Dejected, he slowly gets up, and walks outside.

The air is filled with silence for a moment, before Patty lets out a whistle. "Wow... didn't realise I was watching a Comedy Central roast. I mean, geez! Nice job approving the pitch, by the way." She smirks and raises a glass to you.

>Go after Danny.

You excuse yourself from your seat and go running out of the restaurant, following Danny. Kimberly yells out after you, "Wait, for the love of god, don't leave me alone with theeeeem!"

You step outside, looking around the street, only to find Danny crouched down and hunkered into a ball against the wall of the building. "Hey... Diamond? You okay, pal?"

Hearing you voice, Danny panics and scrambles to his feet. He leans his hand against the wall, attempting to look cool and casual. His eyes are red. "Were you... crying?"

"Who, me? Crying? No!" Danny puts on a forced smile. "I mean, it's not like the one person who's approval means most to me in the world just told me I suck, and he didn't think as much of me as I thought he did. Besides, even if that were the case, I wouldn't just be crying about it! What am I, some kind of baby! I'm really good at keeping my emotions in check! Better than you, probably!" Danny bites his lower lip and clenches his fist, trying hard to hold back any further tears.

"Hey, Danny..." you begin.

"Yeah bud, what's up? Got something to say to the... star pupil of the Omega dojo?"

>Forget about Omega. He's going through some stuff, and he's always been a huge jerk.

Unfortunately he is still a master class wrestler.

He could literally kill us.

>>46079386
That's a pretty good angle, but we have to build it.

>Explanatory promo says that Ace is squandering his potential in this shitty industry, buries the fans, mega heat
>Ace defends the fans, his co-workers, and wrestling

"Like what?"

You scratch the back of your head. "Like... your character! You're character is way more interesting than mine! I'm just a generic hero!"

"Yeah, but your character is the most popular one in the company? What else have I got on you?"

"Well... uhh..."

Danny shook his head. "It's fine, you don't have to defend me like this. It was my mistake thinking I would have a good time tonight. Look dude, I'm just going to go home... you should probably get back to Kim before those two eat her bones or something."

With that, Danny placed his hands in his pockets and walked away. You've never seen him look so upset. In fact, you've never seen him look upset at all before. You sigh, and step back inside to find Patty and Kevin yelling at each-other while Patty holds a bowl of rice out of Kevin's reach. "Say it!" Patty screeches at the dishevelled veteran.

"No!"

"Say it or I'm not giving you your rice back!"

"FINE!" Kevin turned to Kimberly and in a robotic voice, says to her "Kimberly, I am sorry that I implied you had gained weight since we last met. You are a beautiful young woman who could probably land a semi-decent husband if you tried a little harder."

Patty places the bowl back on the table. "There, you see what happened here? I had to outright withhold food from you in order for you to be a decent human being. How do you even function?" Kevin shrugs, as he digs in to his rice.

You place a hand on Kimberly's shoulder. "Are you ready to leav-"

"Oh dear god, yes." Kimberly quickly rises from her chair and addresses the two still seated. "Kevin... this was a horrible experience. It makes me sad looking at you and it makes me angry listening to you. Please get your shit together. Patty... you don't seem all that bad... just mostly bad. Please don't speak to me the next time we meet."

She grabs her coat, and the two of you leave for your apartment for the night.

>THURSDAY, MARCH 31st 2016

Yet another night spent in the same bed with Kimberly without any lovemaking. Last night's dinner left her in too foul of a mood to do anything. You wake early, silently climbing out of bed, and stretching the exhaustion away. Only one more day until you return to the ring, against... Danny. You can't help but remember how beat up the poor guy looked after last night. As much as you pity Kevin Omega, you're angered by his attempt to bring his students down to his level. The saddest part is he honestly believes he's doing you all a favour.

Best put that out of your mind for now, you've got a full day ahead of you. How do you wish to spend it?

"Hey Diamond! I was thinking that maybe you'd like to come to the gym with me today! We are working a match together tomorrow, so-"

"Eh... I'm not really feeling it today, dude. Maybe some other time..."

"But..."

You head to the gym, and immediately get to work building your toughness. You don't want to run the risk of becoming injured again, so toughening up is the best way to go. Once you finish up your training for the day, you receive a phonecall from Kimberly.

"Hey honey, you coming back to the apartment soon?"

"Yeah, I'm just finishing things up in the gym," you reply, "I'm on my way."

"Good, I have a surprise for you! I made you dinner! I figured we having been eating healthy enough lately, so I made us a nice batch of steamed vegetables! Pretty great, huh?"

"Oh... really? That's pretty gr-"

"Don't worry Ace, I'm kidding! I ordered us some Chinese food!"

You breathe a sigh of relief. Kimberly knows you far too well.

"By the way... Jenny's in the apartment."

"Yeah, I don't like having to take care of David's cat either but... wait, you mean the real Jenny, don't you?"

"Yep."

>LATER

Jenny turns her head towards you and raises an eyebrow. "Yo, Ace. I thought you died or something."

You shake your head. "No, just injured. I suppose you thinking I was dead was good reason not to call," you joke.

"Nah, I just didn't want to."

You sigh, and close the apartment door behind you. "Having fun with Cat Jenny?"

"It's name is Davina whenever the big guy's not around. Get it right."

"She's been very pleasant company for the last three hours!" Kimberly exclaims with a smile, and a shaking of the head.

"The big guy let me in earlier. I had something to tell him, but he took off to do janitor work, so I'm waiting here until he comes back!" Jenny explained, scratching the back of the cat's ears

"Oh? What do you want to talk to David about?" you ask.

"I was going to tell him that I don't want to speak to him anymore."

You let out another deep sigh. You know you shouldn't ask, and yet...

>Why do you not want to speak to David anymore? I thought you were his friend?
>Whatever, it's not my business. Kimberly and I are going to take Chinese food into my room. Don't disturb us, please.

"I tried to give the big guy a chance. Trust me, Ace. I really did. But he's so determined to make this into some kind of... relationship." The words are like venom in Jenny's mouth.

"You know relationship isn't a dirty word, right?" Kimberly asks. "Actually, yes it is, I forgot who I was talking to please don't hurt me."

Jenny picked up the cat and allowed it to curl into her arms, rocking it like a parents would rock a baby. "Yesterday, he sent me flowers. Flowers! I can't handle it!"

"Wow, David bought flowers? That's really romantic of him!" Kimberly smiled as she spoke, until Jenny turned her head and glared. "Yeah, I'm going to shut up now."

"So? You told me yourself you had a soft spot for David!" you reply.

"Yeah... but the closer I got to him, the more it reminded me off... scratch that. It's none of your business. I don't date other wrestlers for a reason. I tried to make an exception for this guy, but... I can't. I'm sorry. So, I want to break things off clean with the big guy, face-to-face... and also maybe take my cat back to it's rightful home."

>What is your problem with dating wrestlers?

Jenny strokes the cat softly. "I don't think I can. I have one rule, and... I just can't break it. Trust me, this is for the best. Now, if you'd be so kind as to leave me alone with my cat and my thoughts, and go plough your girlfriend in the other room, that'd be great."

You realise you aren't going to get through to her anytime soon, so you decide to call it a night. Besides, Kimberly is shaking with fear having to share a room with the hardcore wrestler. You take her into you bedroom and the two of you lie down on your bed.

"You know, I really hope those two can work it out," Kimberly says, hugging into you. "They actually seem like they'd be a great couple, in a very, very weird way."

"Yeah... I'm worried about Jenny. She clearly has problems, but she's just not willing to open up with them yet..."

"It's not something you can force. She'll talk about it when it's time... by the way, I managed to get my sister to answer the phone today."

"That's good! What did she say?"

"I'm still not welcome back, but I talked her into packing a box of my stuff. Not that your boxers don't make me feel very sexy when I put them on, but I do kinda need my own clothes again. Only problem is, I need someone to pick it up for me. Could you, maybe...?"

You and Kimberly share a laugh as you crawl under the blankets. Kimberly cuddles in to you. "I'd talk about sex again tonight, but after someone who I'm deathly afraid of just told us to do it, and is waiting in the next room, I'm not feeling it right now. Tomorrow night, for sure. Goodnight, Ace."

"Goodnight, Princess."

>FRIDAY, APRIL 1st 2016

You awake from your sleep to find your pet tarantula Maslow crawling on your shoulder. Before you even realise she's not in bed next to you, Kimberly burst in through your bedroom, laughing. "HA! APRIL FOOLS! I bet you freaked out, didn't you?"

"Not really?" you say, allowing Maslow to crawl onto your hand as you sit up. "I'm not scared of spiders. It's MY pet tarantula. I wouldn't own one if I was afraid."

Kimberly let out a sigh. "Oh... that's funny, because I'm very afraid of spiders. Getting that thing on your bed was a real struggle for me... you know, I think I'M the April Fool in this scenario. Anyway, what's first on your agenda today, Ace?"

You decide to spend the day working on the heavy bag to improve your striking. At first, you imagine Kassius' face attached to the bag, which soon moves into Kevin Omega's face. By the time the punching bag is wearing the skin of your elementary school bully, you realise you've taken an odd turn in your training, and should probably call it a day.

As you step out of the gym, your phone starts buzzing as Danny is trying to reach you. You ponder for a moment on how your friends managed to get so damn good at timing phone-calls before you answer.

"Hey Diamond! Excited for our match toni-"

"I'm not losing to you."

You're taken aback. "Well Danny, Steinberg hasn't told us the outcome of the match yet, but-"

"Not in the match. I'm not going to lose to you in general! I finally get what Kevin said. I'm not the best anymore, because I haven't been working hard enough! I let myself get used to being the best, and I let you pass me by!"

"Danny, don't let what Omega said get to you. He's just a sad man trying to ruin our lives because he ruined his own. Listen to your friend-"

"You're not my friend, Ace! You're my RIVAL, dude. That's how it's always been, and that's how it always will be. I'm not going to let you show me up tonight! I'm not settling for second best!
