Faun society should be a hedonistic elite culture supported by a large enslaved non-faun population.
>>
>>46083582
It got so overplayed that the world itself doesn't matter, it's always the same drill.Use the forest worse than elves, mine caverns worse than dwarves to craft lower quality metals, then wage war on other races that need to be seriously toned down to not crush your special human settlement in a week.

We usually have Humans, Plains as common neighbors so we can trade for basic shit and conquer a weak race, but that's about all a human is worth in this kind of world.

The soft notes of several pan flutes float through the air, a happy tune with a dragging weight of melancholy. Your people have been through much in the past season of Summer, the plague that rots through the lands of your former home of Sumyrhall, now known as "Dead Island" to the four dozen or so remaining fauns in your troop, fresh on your people's minds, images of beautiful fauns reduced to incoherent lunatics of rotting flesh dancing at the edge.

You've had little interaction with the surrounding world, the hedonistic paradise of Sumyrhall providing all of the stimulation needed by your kind, but now after the week long journey across the passage of the fork you've landed in the southern plains. You've set camp here for now in what seems to be a rather fertile area of coastland.

Morale is abysmally low, many of the nursing mothers and children you managed to rescue are simply too depressed to function, sitting silently while your soothsayers desperatly attempt to cheer them up with their usual riddles, songs, and jovial attitudes.

You, Ri'Ti, chieftain of the remaining Fauns of Sumyrhall, have a long journey ahead of you to restore the glory of your fabled race.

As the sun begins to rise over the horizon, you stare over the tents and open fields. Your people need food and water soon if they;re to survive.

(Mind you this is just an intro post, the choices get more complex for here, but water and food will be the dominating need for the moment)

This is your situation currently -

POPULATION:
Adult Males - 20
Adult Females - 24
Children - 10 (Children are hermaphroditic until their coming of age ritual)

Status - Most people are starving, morale is low, and your people are naked as most non-combatant fauns are. Currently you are sheltered in basic tents.

Armory:
Slings - 20

Mystics -

4 Soothsayers (Shamanistic bards of the Fauns, access to a small variety of nature based spells, primarily to manipulate plants and animals)

You approach the soothsayers' tent, the smell of aromatic herbs drift from the entrance. Inside, a faun sits playing a tune as small butterflies circle his pan-flute. You inquire about their ability to use their magics to start growing food for your people.

"Yes sire, we can start the farms, but the energies of our people won't sustain much growth. They are simply too sad to provide us with any substantial amount of energy. Come with me." He grabs you by the hand and you plan on where the fields shall grow. The soothsayers form a circle with you, interlocking hands in the tall grasses. Quickly you begin spinning while they bleat a beautiful tune that reinvigorates you at the core, and the grasses begin swaying frantically to the beat.

Quickly the grasses start flattening, shifting into a bunch of strawberry plants, with a small spring gurgling into a pool at their center. It won't provide a lot of sustenance, but it is a start and will sustain your people.

You see a small faun child, the androgynous figure running up to the bush and biting into a strawberry, you see a smile that breaks your heart.

The sun now sits high in the sky, the heat is somehow much greater than your island home, probably from the lack of foliage around you.

>>46083914
Yes, all fauns to some extent have access to bardic powers, but only a few can practice the actual magics with it, theoretically with training from the soothsayers he could wield them.

>>>>>>

Your people are visibly happier from the ritual the soothsayers performed, but they inform you that they will need to rest, as the lack of ambient happiness required them to drain their own mana far greater than normal.

>Soothsayer magics are temporarily disabled.

What's your next course of action?

A.) Begin to work on shelter
B.) Find a better source of food
C.) Scout to the (insert location)
D.) Other

Forests.
>>
>>46084186
Certainly forests. We could even use some wood now, collect some branches if we don't find anything heavy to bring home.
>>
>>46084217

Gathering a few of the stronger men and women, you head towards the north-eastern forests in search of greater resources, and hopefully food.

After a few hours of walking, your troop reaches the forest edge. The growth on the outer reaches of the woods seems to be very damaged, stumps line the ground, and the younger foliage you'd expect this far from the deepwood seems to be sparse if existing at all. Signs of the simple races evident, you sneak deeper into the woods, the branches overhead create a nice cooling shade, and the sound of a near-by brook brings a feeling of hope. You approach the water, kneeling down and drinking, it tastes fresh, and in the deeper waters you see numerous small fish and some odd crustaceans.

Your ears perk up as a voice reaches your ears, your second in command taps you on the shoulder, motioning silently upstream. In the waters, several humans are bathing and washing their strange cloth garments.

What do you do?

Your whisper your plan to your fellows, and begin walking up the path. Your female followers begin singing in soft tones, and you and the other males play your pan pipes in a jovial tune. Quickly the humans realize your presence, and look apprehensive, but clearly enjoy the happy tones. You ask if you can join the, as your group has not had a good bath or company in many days.

The men look at eachother, and agree, quickly your fauns pair up with different groups of the humans. The air is filled with excited conversations and happy laughter, their defenses drop quickly, especially the man and woman you personally speak to.

In his harsh human accent, the man introduces himself as Leon Trasti, mayor of a small town nearby to the north.

You, Leon, and his wife sit in the shallower end of the river, chatting about your reasons for being in the woods, you avoid directly answering, simpy saying you were exploring the scenery. "A mayor!" You bleat out with an exaggerated tone of excitement, "How impressive Leon, how many people elected you?!" You can almost see the man's ego grow before your eyes. "Ahh, yes I was elected, though it was hard to get there, a lot of outside intervention on the part of the empire, apparently my stances are too far from imperial decree to make the damned bureaucrats happy..."

"And how far away would you say your town is Leon?" You quickly ask, "We'd love to visit!" He smiles, genuinely happy with the idea of your people visiting his city. "Ahh, a mile's walk to the north, about an hour or so by foot."

>>46084543
"How many live there?" you ask, shifting in the water and scooting inbetween him and his wife, laying an arm over each of their shoulders. The wife giggles, and Leon smiles, this is really too easy. "Around 300 or so, nothing compared to the bigger cities like Rune though, they get into the tens of thousands!"

The woman leans her head on your shoulder, Leon doesn't even seem to mind how close his naked wife is getting to you. "And where, might I ask, would some aerable land be? My people are mostly nomadic, but we need some land to set a few roots down, it's been quite the struggle lately." Leon scratches his chin, "Well, most of the farmland is occupied in this peninsula, but we would be happy to share the outer edges of the land with you."

That offer seems tempting, but you'll have to consult your people when you go back home.

Your little trio continues to talk, discussing what the coexistence would look like, what rights your people would have over the land. You subtly keep asking for more and more, and the man who according to his own words is the final authority on land distribution in the areas north of the woods, and eventually you've negotiated full access to the outer fields should you choose to go out there.

Looking around you observe the other groups of fauns and humans, those that had been clothed on the shore quickly had shed their garments and joined the rest in the water. "Would you by chance have any wine my friends? We are quite parched!" You raise your voice, and the fauns all agree, and quickly the wagons parked on the shore are emptied of the many jugs of the mediocre wine and foul tasting ale that humans are so fond of. The alcohol is simply too weak to numb the senses of your hedonistic peoples, but the humans quickly become sloppy.

{NOTE, SPOILED SCENES ARE SEXUAL BY NATURE, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED}

Leon and his wife are suitably trashed, drunk enough to slur their words but thankfully sober enough to function. They lean on you for support as you lead them back into the water, and as you settle, your hand dip beneath the water and grip the firm arse of the woman, and the quickly growing shaft of the man. The wife simply moans, Leon grunts in shock but is silenced when his wife kisses him. Your own organ grows, far bigger than the man's, and as he and his wife become lost in eachothers mouths, you slide deeply into the folds of his wife.

The sounds of pleasure shake through the river as your fellow fauns do the same with many other humans. Eventually their forms are indistinguishable in the massive orgy that begins in the river. A faun woman joins you, pressing one of her teets to your lips while you pleasure Leon and his wife for a long hour, before finishing your coupling with both.

The humans, exhausted from the lust filled drunkenness of the past hour, all go to the shore, many fall asleep in contentedness. A small group of 3 men and 3 women however beg of you that they can come back with you as your troop begins to head back to your camp. They promise to be hard workers, wishing for the life of the Fauns rather than the miserable toil of the farms in the north.

You go to each human and embrace them tightly, whispering in each one's ear "You will be an amazing addition to our tribe, work hard and we shall always reward you." Each one nearly has tears in their eyes when you finish. You're almost disgusted with how weak-willed these people are, a bit of alcohol and mating has made them clay in your hands, you don't doubt that these new workers will willingly do anything asked of them.

...

After several hours of walking through the fields of tallgrass to get back to camp, you are greeted with the soft tunes of singing from the nursing mothers as they put their children to sleep. Your people seem haggard, but quickly you gather them together, telling them of the humans. You explain how easy they were to manipulate, and the resources they have at hand.

A nursing mother stands, you hand her the small totem that indicates she has the floor. "May it please the Chieftain, I understand that these people are willing to share their lands with us, but should we really trust these beings?" She glances side-long at the humans, "Humans have always been rumored to be a war-mongering folk, do we really wish to put ourselves in their warpath should things go wrong?"

She hands the totem to one of the stronger males of the tribe, "May it please the Chieftain," he begins with the usual honorifics in these meetings, " These people are easy to control. They are exactly what we need! We can practice what we wish and enjoy life as our ancestors once did! We pull the strings from the shadows, we control them, and we grow in power." He hands you the totem.

You stand in front of your people, and raise your arms after a short period of contemplation, and lay out your thought process. It simply seems suicidal to take full control over such a large population, especially with the ominous 'empire' being a concern. " We will take the farmlands, bide our time, grow in power and number until we are ready to take such an action. Is this acceptable?" The nursing mother nods her ascent, as does the muscled male. "And so it is decided," you announce, " At dawn we shall move into the woods bordering the town, keep a low profile, and the soothsayers will work alongside our new human tribesmen to cultivate the lands." The crowd disperses to their relevant tents, several grabbing a human male or female and leading them to their tents. The humans have accepted their places a bedslaves and workers for the tribe, and your soothsayers have dubbed them as "Friends of the Faun", by the next day everyone refers to them as such.

---

It's almost funny to you looking at the convoy of fauns as they enter the woods, they carry as little as they can, giving the brunt of the weight to the 'Friends' who happily struggle along, listening to the jovial songs of your people, some of them even attempting to pronounce the complex syllables of your mother tongue. Their attempts draw friendly laughter from the fauns, who help teach them the words.

The next decision has come, where do you set up camp?

Quickly your campsite is established in a deep thicket of brush, many hammocks are strewn between trees all the way from the ground level to the canopy. The soothsayers lead a group of fauns in prayer to the innumerable gods of nature.

The religion of your people ranks highly in cultural importance, split into three distinct practices held by all Fauns. The first is the worship of nature, given by song and dance led by the soothsayers, paying homage to the infinite spirits of the rock, earth and sky. The second, the worship of the sun and the moon, the sister-wives that gave birth to their great son, the Earth. And the final is the worship of pleasure, hedonism is a sacred art to the Fauns, sex, illuminating substances, art, all of these acts are considered holy by nature and highly honored by all.

Several groups are established, and your spread out in each cardinal direction. Quickly the scouts report back, probably near 2 hours, each providing a report of what lies beyond your camps.

To the north lies the village, your scouts say that the farms stretch for a few miles until the clustered homes and stone buildings of Leon's town come into view, placed on the crest of a gentle hill.

To the south - The woods stretch on for many miles, to anyone less at home in the forest than a faun they would easily become lost, the scouts remark that in the center of the forest, a wide open clearing with a small pond in it's middle is shrouded in complete darkness by the thick overlapping branches of the huge trees that border the meadow, making the ground bare except for scraggly plants and fungi, it gave them an uneasy feeling seeing such a strange spot of desolation, even if it is in the middle of the vibrant woods.

To the East - The few fauns who went this way report that rocky crags fill the gap between the edge of the woods and the massive cliffs hanging over the thinner part of the Fork. Many ships were seen traversing this passage.

To the west - An abandoned village, nothing much of note here beyond ruined stone buildings in the foothills of the large mountains, whose peaks stretch past the clouds.

>>46086101

We can worry about the cliffs and scary forest later. These buildings are half functional and thus can get our ass' some much needed shelter and food storage.

Its either that or move to the abandoned village, and I would assume its abandoned for a reason.

Have the shaman do a ritual that makes food. Trade the food for goats. Breed with the goats to make more faun.

So I'm not seeing much consensus here, so I'll put up some options from what y;all have been saying

The reports of the stone village intrigue you, should these buildings provide shelter, there is a place where the Friends of the Faunc an reside, as they don't seem to be adapting to the woods as well as you'd hoped. Not to mention a place to hide in inclement weather, the advantages were numerous for your people.

---

Sitting on top of a small hill overlooking the abandoned village at the foot of the mountain you observe the area. Lush brushlands stretch around the town, becoming more barren as it approaches the rocky steep slopes of the massive rock. Your men quietly approach the village, quickly searching through the buildings, quickly they report back, several short squatty skeletons line the floors the buildings. You've heard of the dwarven race before, but their existence is made clear by the ridiculously thick bones. You lift a femur in your hand, the weight is much greater than you expected, and you attach it to the leather belt on your hip, it'll make a great club.

> What do you do next?
>>
>>46086367
Note - The cause of death is unknown, and many skeletons are found. The bones are very weathered from age, clearly being there for years.
>>
>>46086367
Work on clearing out the homes and consulting the soothsayer to determine the cause of these dead dorfs. If any evil, abandon until later. If "clean" begin minor repairs.

You command the soothsayers to examine the area for any residual magics, and to determine why the creatures had died if possible. Quickly the singing began, words of mourning for the dead creatures, questioning pleas sent to the many gods of nature. The four fauns seem pale at the end. "Murder. Genocide. Crude steel cut through their flesh. Monstrous men, the heads of bulls." They all stammer under their breath, you've never seen them so spooked before.

"Are they near?" You ask with concern, and in response they shake their heads in confusion. There was simply no way to sense such a beast they had never seen before, but they could tell the things were dripping with a demonic bloodlust. The town may be safe, but it was ultimately up to you to make the choice.

You collect the bones of the fallen dwarves, they may be dead but they will serve new purpose in their death. The heavy bones could serve a variety of uses, whether that be as weapons to arm yourselves with, the heavy iron-like material making perfect clubs, or as tools to break stone or cut through thick brush, it is a pretty invaluable find.

Entering the village, you see the Friends busily working in the camp, stripped of their clothing , no doubt by the fauns who used them for pleasure, while the rest lazily lounged in their hammocks and tents awaiting your return.

You enter the soothsayer's tent, the four of them fill a wooden tube with a pungent material and after sending a prayer to the Sun-mother, the material quickly begins smoking, they pass the pipe around, and quickly they calm down with the sweet smoke filling the tent.

"We need to grow our numbers, is their any way to increase the rate of reproduction?" You ask them as the tent quickly begins to grow hazy, though you do not partake your head is filled with a fog of vague clarity and calmness. The Soothsayers mutter quickly to each-other before addressing your concerns.

"My liege, yes it is well within our abilities, but to create life as complex as ours will take a grand deal of mana, much more than our population can produce." They explain, your bushy eyebrows rise as you realize their intention.

"The humans?" You mutter, "We need to feed on their desires too then?" The four nod in agreement. They explain the finer details of the ritual, a show of massive hedonic activity will be required to harness enough for the fertility ritual, which would likely impregnate most female humanoids present with Faun seed. Such a ritual would more than double your numbers.

Though, of course, you'd first have to get close to the humans in order to accomplish this.

You gather your greatest speakers and socialites from the tribe and head towards the town. You all play panflutes and sing, jovially walking through the farmlands to reach the city, often times farmers and their families would stop their work to watch as your troop passed, sometimes even joining you along the way. As you reached the streets, people went about their business but did take time to appreciate the sounds as you headed towards the small stone castle at the center of the town.

Standing at the entrance, your past-lovers Leon and his wife stood, greeting you with large hugs and kisses on the cheeks before leading you up to the large dining chamber. As you discussed the terms of your agreements wine flowed freely, the experience giving you even more leverage over the man who was clearly in love with you. Keeping him on a short leash, you claimed the farmlands closest to the woods, agreeing to integrate the farmers that inhabit that land into the Friends of Faun. The agreement was signed, and a grand feast began, your people politely ignored the meats offered to them, instead dining on the many fruits and vegetables taken from the land.

Claiming you needed to relieve yourself, you and a soothsayer stepped out of the hall to discuss your next actions.

> Organize a festival to celebrate the treaty

>>
>>46086968
Agreed. We don't have to take the entire village yet, fuck the mayor and his children, hell we already cucked him, I want us to become literal gods to this mayor so we have a very powerful pawn
>>
>>46086921
Those dorfs are arguably more useful and productive then our raunchy selves. They must've had some trade agreements with this village before. So logically the mayor should know of their demise.
>>
>>46086968
Reetering the hall, you sit yourself on a cushion next to Leon, running a hand down the side of his face. "My dear Leon, you humble us with your hospitality, please, do tell me about this wondrous town of yours." You grin at the man and he is only too willing to spill his heart out to you.

"Aye! It is a marvelous town! We were formed from the descendants of the former denizens of the Pirate Islands!" He points to an ornate map on the wall near you, at the small islands to the south east. "The people there are a violent lot, they take what they want, fuck who they want, and kill the rest. My great grandfather led a coalition in the islands to become a proper kingdom and fight back against the growing influence of the Imperial creed... needless to say he failed, and instead led the peaceful inhabitants to this land. We make a decent living by trade, both with the empire and" he lowers his voice and leans into your ear, "And the earthen-folk on the side, the empire forbids all trade with their race, but we do so regardless, fabulous creations they have." he falls back on his cushion, "But yes, our people are a very kind bunch, we welcome all to stay in our walls, but do not agree with the damned emperor."

He describes the empire, a sprawling human domain covering most of the continent, vastly xenophobic and with the violence to prove it.

Suddenly you see two young men, and a woman, all looking exactly the same, sit across from you. Leon smiles and raises his arms, "My triplets! John, Seth, and Amanda!" The three nod their heads to you, introducing themselves to you. "Leon, do you mind if I speak to your children privately?" Your hand brushes his inner thigh, "I wish to ask their opinions of the town without fear of their father overhearing.

"Please my friends, tell me of this abandoned dwarven settlement outside my woods." You look at the three apprehensive siblings, Seth speaks up, " It was an old trading post. The empire released their war-animals on it several years back, those disgusting bullmen. They slaughtered them, and forced the dwarves back beneath the surface." You thank him, and sit in quiet contemplation of this news.

"So, John, Seth, Amanda.. How would you like to become Friends of the Faun?" You grin at their confused looks, " it is a place of much honor in my tribe, something your father would greatly love to hear..." Getting their father's favor? What heirs wouldn't wish such a thing? The three agree enthusiastically,

"Yes lord faun, of course we would!" Seth exclaims, John quickly picks it up though by saying "...but what does this entail?"

You explain the duties of a Friend, that they help with the duties of the tribe, live among them most of the time, and join in the pleasure rituals of their kind...

You crook your finger towards John, telling him to shed his clothes and to join you on the bed, clearly reluctant to strip in front of his triplets, you calm his nerves by gripping his hand. Quickly his tunic and linen pants fall, and his excitement is already clear by the staff that stands at attention. Gripping him by his hardness, you kiss him fully on the lips, one hand cupping his arse. You turn your head to look at Amanda, silently commanding her to come to you, equally as nude. Two thick fingers slip into her womanhood, a sharp breath accompanying the blush on her cheeks.

Cont.
>>
>>46087442
Your hand continues to caress her brother's hardness as Seth comes to you without a word and falls to his knees, pleasuring the grand manhood that rises quickly beyond the thick fur of your thighs. Another finger is added to Amanda, and your mouth latches to her tit like a suckling child. Removing the fingers from her, you slide them into John's mouth, pushing both him and his sister down on the bed. You retreat from the confines of Seth's mouth and mount the girl, a sharp yell of pain as her virginity is taken, replaced by moans in mere seconds. You ride the girl as an animal would, viciously but with a gentle strength, the ragged breaths of the two men catches your attention, and likewise you mount the man on the bed, a similar grunt of pain being replaced by gasps of pleasure.

As the debauchery winds to a finish, your seed deep within the girl, three fauns enter, and enrapture themselves with the three adult heirs.

This sounds good but we shouldn't take too many. Don't want to cripple the town.
>>
>>46087455
I feel like the seduction happens too easily, like its something we should roll for. Instead its "How you doin'?" and then everyone gets wet. I get we got a silver tongue, but it should take more effort than that to get a town to fall in worship of us.
>>
>>46087455
Ok, so we know we're safe now unless the empire finds out about us. Secrecy must be a top priority. We should definitely not throw a big festival in town. We should also communicate with the outside word primarily through friends of faun go between to limit exposure. We should not let the outside world know that we have set up shop in the town. Also tell the friends of faun that ours is a special relationship and they are not to reveal it to outsiders.

>>46087505

>>
>>46087542
>>46087571
Agreed on the food supply. Which is why we need farmers who worked this land for years. Seduce a few well skilled ones, and we should get enough going for our food production.
>>
We are in literally the exact same position as the previous dwarf town. We should
1. make sure the empire doesn't find us
2. have a place to flee to for when they do

maybe in the future, we can get in with the pirates that were mentioned before. They would surely love our hedonistic lifestyle. Also they would provide wealth, transportation, and some kind of martial power
>>
>>46087485
Returning to the dining hall, you find Leon being entertained by a soothsayer, singing simple prayers causing small flowers to sprout from the stone near his feet. "Leon! I must say your children are quite well spoken, in-fact, they are absolutely entertaining three of my friends, such interesting heirs you have!" You want to laugh internally, little does he suspect you bedded all of them, the man may be nice but his foolishness is just astounding. "I am so glad they were able to tell you what you needed my Lord Faun!"

"My friend Leon, I must ask one final favor of you," you begin as Leon gives you his usual dopey grin, "Who are the artisans of this village? I really must employ their services..."

He primarily mentions that the farmers of the lands are all very experienced in their craft, shy, but amiable folk. Along with those farmers, the stonemason guild of the city is a resource you could definitely make use of, seeing as your people's conception of tools was.. .archaic at best. You will only have time to visit one group before the sun falls.

>>46087552

The kind of idea I'm having about the MC is that he's the silver tongue, along with the alcohol consumption and the general magic of the soothsayers promoting it, the seduction of a few people is quite easy, especially with a group already so infatuated with us.

If say, they were resistant to our presence, the feat would be nearly impossible to pull off without very targeted manipulation. Think of this family as a gullible group of nobles who have just met these fantastical, attractive woodland creatures right outside their home.

>>46087673
Farmers. Unless, we go back to the ruins of course.

Okay guys, I'm way too into this storyline now to make this a one-shot, so I'm archiving this thread and continuing tomorrow. I second farmers. We don't need the stonemasons atm. Basic repairs to the village should be fine.
I think we should construct a cover story for what the villagers go to do when they're helping us. Like that many villagers have taken up hunting and trapping as a way to get more food on the table. Occasionally send them back with a rabbit.

Druid/Shaman/Rogue would probably be the general archetype Fauns fit in, a mix of nature magic and guerrilla warfare.

>>46094403
Fauns are generally considered attractive to all races dependent on their many features. A more humanoidic race will focus on the simple features of a Faun, their looks, hair, etc. That match the characteristics of a beautiful member of whatever species observes the Faun. Whereas in the more animalistic races, say Gnolls, Minotaur, and Skaven will see the more beastial features of the Faun - their powerful lithe musculature, the grace of the stag horns that grow from its head.

Their is definitely a slight magical aura around Fauns that make them appealing to most sentient, and even many non sentient races. Though stronger willed races will probably see through that ruse and judge the Faun on its actual appearance, and in that case it depends on the faun and what that creature considers attractive.

Pic Related - A bit too artsy, but it gets the point across. Animal-like but beautiful.
