You are trudging through the snow as the wind howls all around you. All around you is a white landscape. The terrain itself is treacherous: the snow hides crevasses and pitfalls in the ice beneath. You've lost count of the number of times one of your party has almost fallen into one.

“How much further is it?” Ebonsongs voice floats up to you from further back.

“Are we nearly there yet?” Nicolvren adds in a sing-song voice, followed by an outraged yell from Ebonsong.

“At least they're in high spirits!” comments your double, yelling over the screaming wind. Walking at your side, the Azure Empress looking more like the white empress with all the snow sticking to her.

“That won't last” you say soberly, as you look up at the vast mountains of ice above you.

“Don't let it get you down” says the Azure Empress “We're going to win this.”

“But how many won't be coming back?” you ask, looking back at the force following you: mostly dragons in human form but also succubi, angels, and marching at the back: elementals. The Fire Elementals look particularly out of place: leaving trails of melted snow all around them. And of course, your companions: Ebonsong, Nicolvren, Shahulzer, Sofia ind Isla.

“If they die we can just resurrect them.” points out your double.

“Can we?” you say “the last time the gods fought the lords of life they lost many of their own number: will anyone killed today even have a soul to bring back to life.”

“Wow, you're maudlin” says your twin. You both trudge through the snow for several minutes and she asks “so seriously, how much farther?”

XXX

Eventually you get undercover into a series of caves. At first they appear natural but as you go deeper they start to look more and more like something has clawed or chewed them out of the ice.

“These look like Remorhaz tunnels” Isla explains “long scaled ice creatures with lots of legs.”
>>
After a time you start to hear echoing noises in the tunnels ahead. A Succubus scouts ahead and returns to tell you there is a nest of dozens of the monsters ahead.

“As soon as we start killing its minions the Killing Frost will probably notice” comments the Azure Empress “well, we're lucky to get this close without being, might as well go in loud and fast.”

“Or we could sneak past” counters Sofia “without killing a bunch of ice snakes.”

“They're not snakes” says Isla “many believe that they are a type of dragon.”

Then she notices all the unhappy dragons around her “Of course who really knows what they are...”

So you're expecting us to just be able to use a spell on someone who also has deific power and unknown capabilities and it'll just work the second the fight starts?
>>
>>46095267
The Frost isn't immune to our spells and his capabilities aren't unknown to us.
>>
>>46095267
>and unknown capabilities
We already fought a lengthy battle against it. Its not unknown to us, and we have Deific Power too.
If its somehow completly immune against our magic we can't beat it anyway, so assuming that is kinda silly.
>>
>>46095267
If it wouldn't work at the start it would never work. We can't hope to exhaust its deific power, so overwhelming it with plane shift and dimensional anchor is our only chance.
>>
>>46095335
Then this isn't a fight and bringing the army was completely nonsensical, we should've just come alone. It's the bastard child of Zeus and the T-1000 about to liquefy a small child that can't defend itself.

>That if it doesn't have some way to resist or negate our magical powers

Anon, the question was never if we can kill the Frost.
We always could. The issue is killing it without massive collateral damage.
>>
>>46095403
>we're just going to hit it with approximately five billion damage and win instantly
The lantern laser array takes some turns to set up, and thats assuming the lanterns can actually hurt it, I expect any used spell to take DP to hurt it.
Which is exactly why we need to use as few as possible, which is exactly why we can't fight it anywhere but the Elemental Plane of Fire, because here the fight would take ages, and he has more DP than we do.
>>
>>46095403
Okay anon, then share with us, how do YOU think we are going to beat him? What your plan?
>>
“We were lucky to get this far without being seen” you say “the intelligence provided by our scouts was invaluable. It might be pushing our luck to keep hidden but I want to get as close as we can to the Killing Frost before we have to fight.”

“Everyone who can make themselves or others invisible please do so” you tell the force you've bought with you. “Isla link as many as you can via a telepathy spell, we don't want anyone getting lost.”

Around you people start fading from view, well to normal sight at least – you can still see them.

Proceeding through the tunnels you actually find several passages that bypass their main lair: but there are enough wandering around that even this doesn't present complete concealment. One even wanders through your group – you all split apart to let it pass. It pauses in the midst of you: sniffing the air and waving its antennae around...but eventually moves on.

Once you're past the nest you let the spells fade – no point in everyone wasting their power.

It's several hours before you encounter any other problems: as you ascend to the top of the mountain you can feel the Killing Frosts presence high above you. You are hiding your deific powers but it most definitely is not – it is flaunting them. You estimate that it is actually weaker than you in terms of raw godly might but it no doubt has other tricks up its frozen sleeve.

Around you the clawed tunnels have given ways to ones carved out with precision and skill and several times you have to backtrack and fight other routes due to massive gates made out of ice: the writing on them is clear: a tribe of Frost Giants inhabit this part of the mountain – though not one you're familiar with.

You call a halt to discuss it with your companions.

“Stealth worked once” says Isla “we convince the guards to let us in through the gates, wipe their memories and then proceed through invisible once again.”
>>
“But Isla won't they have their own shamans and stuff?” Ebonsong asks “They'll see us.”

“Not necessarily” says Isla “these gates open onto the Remorhaz tunnels after all – they might not guard these as carefully.”

“We could also try talk to them” suggests Nicolvren “No doubt its call has bought them here but they are still intelligent beings – they might be persuaded to look the other way.”

“Or they might raise the alarm” counters Sofia “if we want to maintain the element of surprise I say we take the long route and go around – an extra day or so won't cost us much.”

“Or we go direct” Shahulzer “break the gates and fight any that try to stop us.”

By being generally more powerful and forcing him to burn deific power at a faster rate until he starts to run dry and we can actually finish him off. Hopefully being able to plane shift about 30-40% of the way into the fight when the loss of DP from blocking us would be worse for him than just having to fight on the plane of fire. There is no logical reason why he won't be able to block a plane shift as soon as the fight starts.

We have no way to kill him instantly

I'm not about to bet on his HP pool total and if we can make a dent into it with hitting him with the Scythe.

> I just think that being able to get off a spell on it the instant the fight starts is a retarded thing to base your plan around
You have yet to come up with a reason why we couldn't, if we have enough DP to make him deplete his, we just spend more than he does on the contest and get the plane shift off without wasting time fighting him on his home territory.

>By being generally more powerful
A dangerous assumption to make.

> and forcing him to burn deific power at a faster rate
He has far more allies than we do, very likely it is US who will have to burn through more to avoid their effects, Sireyi is not as invincible as you have chosen to believe.

>Hopefully being able to plane shift about 30-40% of the way into the fight when the loss of DP from blocking us would be worse for him than just having to fight on the plane of fire.
I'm not seeing how forcing him to expend it later is somehow better than forcing him to do it earlier, except that the former risks US losing too much DP having to fend off the magic of his allies and protecting our allies from the enviromental effect that last time nearly killed even Sireyi.

> There is no logical reason why he won't be able to block a plane shift as soon as the fight starts.
Us expending more DP than he does.

Sorry if your apparent plan of "Lets hit him aimlessly and hope he doesn't kill us all in the meantime with his massive army of dragons and powerful elementals", doesn't inspire much confidence in me.
>>
>>46095725
He could get more, but he's probably been burning it, what with the constant fucking storm of death across the entire plane, and we have nothing solidly indicating he's been receiving more when he's doing his job just fine so far.

Running out of DP means you burn less DP, it would work if he judges the DP loss to be worse than the effects of the plane of fire on his existence, which could happen if he knows we're going to keep hurling instant-death-bolts he can't block without it.

>>46095824
Because they're all frost-reliant and even the fucking god-frost-monster will eat shit on the plane of fire? Also because there is no way they'll have enough casters to plane shift all of them, and gates would cause traffic problems.

We totally do. Assuming you are ignoring the Reaper's Scythe being capable of causing instant death, enough overcharge on lightning and he's just fucking gone.

We can enhance the scythe's damage without using spells.

>You have yet to come up with a reason why we couldn't, if we have enough DP to make him deplete his, we just spend more than he does on the contest and get the plane shift off without wasting time fighting him on his home territory.
>Gods can make paladins
>The deific level of a paladin ability is "the spell fails gg no re"

>>46095852
Except that's literally what your plan is and something the Lord of Life is doing?

>>46095861
It may as fucking well be with the numbers Sireyi can throw around.

>>46095947
>Last time we fought him he nearly killed Sireyi in addition to all her allies on his own.
If you mean the arcane contest to try and end his storms, that was because we didn't spend any DP on fighting back. The actual fight we had with him didn't really mention the environmental effect as being dangerous. Also didn't have Deific sanctuary.
>>
>>46096034
>and we have nothing solidly indicating he's been receiving more when he's doing his job just fine so far
Except for the fact that the LoL has nothing else to do with all the DP he gets from eating gods in the last, five years?

>if he knows we're going to keep hurling instant-death-bolts he can't block without it
Except we can't do that because instant-death bolt cost us resources too.

>Because they're all frost-reliant and even the fucking god-frost-monster will eat shit on the plane of fire?
We know even his deaththrows would cause serious cooling even on the plane of fire, his aura can very well allow them to exist there. Many of them are dragons, and you kinda forget the outerplanar fire aligned Genasi he allied with.

>enough overcharge on lightning
Lightning is divine magic. Y'know, the kind the Lord of Life is most adept at fucking up?

>It may as fucking well be with the numbers Sireyi can throw around.
Every single of which she needs to throw DP behind. Thats not sustainable, overcoming his defenses twice is significantly better strategy than hoping to do it dozens of times as you are planning.

>If you mean the arcane contest to try and end his storms
No I mean when we actually fought him and he fucked our shit up.
>>
>>46096034
>Because they're all frost-reliant
Except not, such as the Genasi renegades he allies with, but not actually remembering much about the Frost and his assets explains why your strategy is so terrible.
>>
>>46096034
Okay explain to me this. You think we can somehow not overcome his defense by throwing enough DP behind it two times...then how do you want to deplete is resources?
If you think we can never ever hurt him?
>>
>>46096034
Since he will spend DP to no-sell our attacks anyway, how does it make a difference for him to throw DP against LightningBolt compared to throwing them against Plane Shift? Its the same thing to us, just with the difference if he can't throw enough DP at it with Plane Shift we don't fuck ourselves over.
I don't understand why you think wasting his DP with DP boosted Lightningbolts is somehow better.
>>
>>46096181
>Except for the fact that the LoL has nothing else to do with all the DP he gets from eating gods in the last, five years?
Awakening the other Sorrows.

>Except we can't do that because death bolt cost us resources
Not a whole lot, it's damage is kind of insane. Like, we might, *might* have to burn 1 DP for every four or five death bolts. Especially because all we have to do is get it into "you really want to block this" range, not quite "BLOCK OR DIE" range.

>his deaththrows would cause cooling on the plane of fire
Yeah, but he still eats shit there, like Sireyi's lightning powers would on the plane of earth.

>his aura allow them to exist
It's range can be expected to be diminished there, at least, and we'll most likely be pushing each other around a lot because it's a pair of gods trying to murder each other.

>dragons...forget the fire Genasi
Dragons would get nuked by a lightning storm, Genasi would get raped by his own aura.

I did forget about them though.

>Lightning is divine magic...the Lord of Life is most adept at fucking up?
Lightning is technically an elemental ability, and the Lord of Life does that through utter mastery of arcane power.

>Every single...she needs to throw DP behind
Wrong.

> when we actually fought him and he fucked our shit up.
You mean when he had to run like a bitch and our Sanctuary made all the flowers bloom?

>>46096227

>Ever
>To anything
>But especially a god battle
>A battle between literal deities

>>46096253
Because if he doesn't throw DP behind blocking all of our attacks, he eats shit and dies. He'll run dry extremely fast when he has to (essentially) perfect defend everything.

>>46096299

>>
“They might be willing to let us pass, or at least be bribable” you concede. You call one of the succubi forwards and tell them “get as close to the door as you can and read their minds – see how they'd react.”

“Of course my Queen” the succubi bows and then sets off.

She returns an hour later and says “They would let us pass but would betray us. They have little loyalty to the Killing Frost but are arrogant and greedy. The Killing Frost has both offered a reward to anyone spotting infiltrators as well as threats of punishment to anyone who helps them.”

You look around at your allies “Well in that case...”

You negotiate a promise of gold to the frost giants on the door and as soon as they let you pass their memories are erased using magic, after you have hidden everyone again.

Invisibly you stalk the giants halls: hiding when they come past, just in case they can see you despite your protections. Thanks to you and Isla you also avoid the powerful magical aura's you can sense in some areas: it's clear that they have some skilled mages in their clan, and many of the warriors you see have magical equipment.

You pass unnoticed apart from one frost giant who trips over your party when emerging unexpectedly from a side passage. One of the succubi quickly puts him to sleep though and you pick up the angels who were kicked about and head on as fast as you can.

You repeat your false bribery attempts at the gate out of the frost giants holdings and alter their memories.

“So far so good” murmurs Nicolvren.

“Yeah this can't last” says Shahulzer. Hah, pessimists...

You continue your journey onwards, overcoming various magical traps, alarms and wards, as well as less dangerous foes. The ice caverns here look more naturally formed.

When you're getting towards the top of the peak however, you notice all the dragons in your party starting to tense up.

“What is it?” you ask them.

“Dragons” says Ebby, sniffing the air

“White dragons” clarifies Nicolvren.

“Lots of them” says Shahulzer.

“Fifty, maybe more” clarifies one of the older dragons you've bought with you.

“Very unusual for that many to share a nest” says another “I recognise a couple of those scents – they're old dragons. A group of younger ones might be intimidated into sharing space but to get that many to live close to one another...”

“Sneaking past dragons is going to be incredibly difficult” points out Sofia “even with magic..”

“We're close enough to the top of the peak that the fire elementals could just burn their way up” Isla points out “though it'll exhaust some of them.”

“And we'd still have all those dragons to deal with” points out your twin.

“White Dragons respect power and not much else” says Shahulzer “convince them that you can beat the Killing Frost and they might stand aside.”

“Turning up with all of us on your side will help your argument” points out another dragon.

“Or just kill them and take their hoards” suggests another, grinning.

>>
>>46096877
To be fair, Sireyi has a power she could buy that would let her completely no sell any and all mortal magics for a pittance of divine energy, or even reflect it, so a precedent exists in the system for deific beings that aren't new to the game being able to not give a fuck about mortal magic.

>Pally, since our mom and Sireyi fought against the Frost before, has it displayed such a Immunity against non-divine magic?

Only cold magic; fire magic in its vicinity is reduced in effectiveness but still hurts it.

It is also very resistant to magic in general, but not immune.

If I estimate the time right I assume we won't fight him today anymore anyway, right? So you can give it some time after Mini-Palading to make it a comprehensive list.

>If I estimate the time right I assume we won't fight him today anymore anyway, right?

Correct: today is about getting to him. Next thread will be the actual fight.

Good idea.

“Alright” you say “let's go talk to them: dragons to the fore please, and make yourselves comfortable.”

Around you the dragons step forward and start shedding their humanoid forms: soon you're surrounded by dragons of all sorts of size and colours.

You head onwards and emerge into a massive cavern: all around the walls are ledges with caves in them, the lairs of the white dragons. The lower levels are occupied by the smaller and younger ones, the higher ledges by the older and more powerful ones. Even the youngest and smallest white dragon here is larger than Shahulzer.

Your appearance sends many of them flying into the air, circling around your group. You simply walk to the centre of the cavern, your guard of dragons around you and wait for them to calm down. The younger ones sweep down at your group, pulling up at the last minute, throwing threats, insults and challenges. Your group simply ignores them. High above the elder white dragons watch you.

Eventually the more excitable ones settle down and from the top one old dragon booms down “So, you've come at last little godling, or is it angel, or demon, or queen? You are wearing so many titles for one tiny once-mortal.”

“You are outnumbered” points out another dragon elder “have you come to face your death, or throw yourself upon His mercy?”

“You'll find he has little” comments another.

“Neither” you say plainly “I have come to end him, I know that some will stand with him, and many will die, but still I have come.” Your voice easily carries to the entire chamber.

Many of the dragons chuckle at this, others are silent.

“As you can see” you say “I have many dragon allies: I treat them fairly and welcome their presence in my lands. I have also slain dragons before: including old and powerful ones. Before the Killing Frost is ended I may kill more. I come to you openly to offer you a chance to live.”
>>
“And what do you offer?” asks an old dragon “if we step aside? He offers us dominion over this world – only the silvers can stand the cold as well as we, and once he takes this plane we will wipe them out!”

His boast is met with roars of approval from the whites; by your side Nicolvren growls.

We don't need them to join us, just standing aside is enough for our purpose here and will make the dc much lower.
We can't really offer much, and we definitly don't want more dragons making trouble for us in our land.
>Your lives (threat)
>The spoils of what the Frost leaves behind in servants and land
>Pride (you're dragons: why bow your heads to another when you could be valued allies)
>>
>>46097626
Giving deific power to random asshole dragons that oppose us will just make our nice, relatively well-behaved dragons upset and jealous, and we need as much DP as possible for the upcoming god-fight.
>>
>>46097551
Can't we make two seperate offers?
Like, Join me and you get a gift of Divine Power, and those that don't want to risk fighting the Frost can stand aside and keep their lives?

“If you step aside” you say “then you'll live: oppose me and many of you will die. Whether I defeat the Killing Frost today or not, a lot of you will still die.”

You wait for the roars, threats and insults to die down “Why would you risk your lives for Him? What has he done for you? Does he treat you like dragons?” You turn in a circle, addressing all the white dragons “is this how you choose to live? So close like mortals in their cities? Will you build streets and houses next?”

This time the roars of anger are directed partly at you...and partly at the Killing Frost.

“If I win here today” you say “And I certainly plan to: then I leave you the spoils and territory of this place to do with as you will: this is a place suited to your kind and his army has wealth you could benefit from I'm sure.”

Some of your dragons stir a little at that, but don't interfere.

Above your heads the debate rages for over an hour but finally the elder dragons say “We accept your terms little godling.” And despite some grumbling from the younger dragons, none interfere.

“That went better than expected” says Nicolvren “I was sure at least some of them would attack anyway – whites aren't the most reasonable bunch.”

Well, time to go before they decide to prove her right “It's time we finish this” you say to everyone, heading up through the final set of tunnels. As you near the top you all cast spells to protect and boost yourselves and your allies.

Eventually you emerge from a cave mouth near the top of the mountain.

High above you is a massive snowstorm, and in the middle of it, looking down is a vast figure of snow and ice surrounded by an aura of cold so intense even Nicolvren and those normally immune to cold flinch. It descends: becoming more solid as it does so.

“PITIFUL WARM LIVING THINGS” it booms “PREPARE TO EMBRACE YOUR FATE.”

You are Milerna Jalweyen, angel-blooded and born paladin of Konig. You are 9 years old, and are attending paladin training at a church of Konig school.

http://pastebin.com/RE8br4uf

You're standing together in a large group. One of the senior instructors is yelling at you and its really late at night. This has been going on for some time.

Gilly and Thomas are with the nurse but Chesi, Jenny and Michael are still with you.

Eventually the Instructor, Tarant you think his name is, dismissed most of the other kids and says “Cadet Jalweyen and friends, remain behind.”

Uh Oh....

You're all stood in a line as he walks up and down in front of you. Finally he stops and asks you “so, once you had found out about this little club, why didn't you tell an instructor?”

Looking at him the only virtue of Konig he fails are Kindness and Humility.

“We had to rescue Thomas!” you blurt out.

“So why not tell an instructor?” he demands “why not avail yourself of the help of an adult, of someone in power?”

“Because the instructors are useless and wouldn't have helped: and even if they had the other students would just have kept harassing Thomas!” You almost yell.

You head someone gasp next to you, sounds like Jenny. You stare at the instructor, refusing to break his gaze.

Instructor Tarants face gives nothing away but he asks calmly “are their no Instructors that you trust here?”

“Very few” you say stubbornly. And Aunt Philly has been away a lot...

“And so” he says, just as calmly “you saw an unjust situation and took matters into your own hands, why?”

You pause, this feels like a trick question, like if you say 'because no one else was' he'll tell you that you're arrogant and stuff for thinking you know better than the other instructors and adults.

So my friend is telling me you got two lesbians pregnant through some weird storm magic shit.

Uh, you want to explain the specfics of this to me, friendo?

That's due to the MC being a nephilim with storm heritage in service to a goddess of life. Her arcane powers are linked to all those themes.

I'm fairly sure Pally has never gotten any lesbians pregnant, using storm magic or otherwise.

“Because a Palading stands up for others!” you say, crossing your arms over your chest “Thomas couldn't fight all those bullies himself and so I had to help him, it wasn't fair.”

“Hmm, interesting” says Instructor Tarant “so if you thought Thomas could win on his own you would not have interfered?”

“Er...” you think about that one.

“So you're saying” says Instructor Tarant “that if Thomas could 'win' and escape you would not have stopped them picking another victim?”

“That's not what I said!” you protest.

“So you would stand up for the next victim then? And the next one?” He asks “They claim Thomas joined voluntarily? Does he deserve to be rescued? Would you rescue a thief from justice?”

You scowl at him, it's late and you're tired and still angry from your fight and he's asking difficult questions that all sound like tricks.

Lesbian part is completely true, but it's not quite a harem, not in the way it's commonly portrayed, at least. Polygamous, but love is mutual between all partners, rather than being focused solely on the MC.
>>
>>46100184
>but it's not quite a harem, not in the way it's commonly portrayed
Its not actually a harem at all, since a harem would imply they are all only "attached"/married to Sireyi.
>>

Pretty good. Dungeon Life Quest, huh. Fucking Azrael and shit.

I mean, I know you were complaining about the length of the smutbins not being long enough to masterbate too. But have you tried getting yourself going first and then re-read them when you're near your peak?

>>
>>46100247
>But if we're talking three or more partners, nah man, that's a fucking harem.
Its not, a harem would imply several people in love/married/attached to with a single person. Which isn't the case here.
So its a polygamous marriage between 4 people.
>>
>>46100247
Nah, but I'll figure something else out.

“Why are you asking all these hard questions?” you shoot back at him “I thought you were just going to lecture us and punish us and stuff.”

“Perhaps” he says, still not giving anything away “But I want to understand why you did it.”

“Because Thomas is my friend” you say, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

“So you'd stick up for any of your friends?” He asks.

“Of course” you say.

“Even if they were wrong, or deserved what was happening?” he says.

“I think” you try to get him to understand “that helping Thomas was the right thing, and he's my friend. That other stuff just...just hasn't happened. Maybe if he was doing something wrong I would have done something else or...or...or whatever but he was getting hurt and that was wrong and it wasn't his fault.”

You pause, trying to think of a way to better explain it. Instructor Tarant nods and you think he smiles a bit, maybe. It was there, and now it's gone.

“So” he says “one last question, before you go to your rooms: What punishment, if any, do you deserve?”

You all exchange glances, is he, is he letting you choose your punishment?

“None” says Chesi clearly “We didn't do anything wrong.”

“Well maybe some token punishment” says Michael “I mean, we did participate in a club which is clearly against the rules, even if it was for a good cause.” Yes the Instructors lecture made that very clear to the others.

“But if we're not punished the same as the others” says Jenny “Won't everyone resent us?”

The others are on stable-cleaning duty for a month, have to write essays on what they did, and their names will be posted publicly on the school message board for all visitors to see, along with a description of their wrongdoing.

Actually by definition you're wrong.

Since lesbian harem actually contradicts the original intent of harem, which was a man with multiple wives.

But obviously, in the quest connotation of the word, it literally means an MC with multiple waifus.

Which is what you fucking have.

I'm not saying you're wrong for having it.

But c'mon man, admit you have a fucking harem.
>>
>>46100329
Two of the "harem" members were in a relationship with each other well before the MC (two or three years, IIRC) and wound up being the ones to pursue her romantically instead of the other way around.
>>
>>46100380

>>
>>46100363
>>Same punishment as the others
>>
>>46100373
>contradicts the original intent of harem, which was a man with multiple wives
Thats not the original intent, harem original describes a secluded space that is prohibited to others, in this case the room in which the ruler had his lovers.
It makes no implication aboutt he rulers gender in any way shape or form, and since they are not exclusive to the protagonist, which is what harem means, its by definition not a harem.
>>
>>46100405
Kek, Jal scored the jackpot of all jackpots
>>
>>46100422
So you admit we've strayed from the original definition of the word then?

Because I'm pretty sure none of the Quest harems consist of >a secluded space that is prohibited to others, in this case the room in which the ruler had his lovers.

And it specifically meant a male ruler, because wives and concubines are what men had in the fucking middle east. And it was forbidden to men.

So, in conclusion.

The original definition doesn't matter.

You have a harem.
>>
>>46100405
>>46100435
Well, since Jal and Isla never really got that warm with eachother, it would be more Sofias harem.
>>
>>46100477
>So you admit we've strayed from the original definition of the word then?
No? I did not?
I said by definition its not a ahrem, and by the original definition its not a harem, where am I straying here?
You are the one straying from the definition by trying to apply it to this situation.

>>46100477
>Because I'm pretty sure none of the Quest harems consist of >a secluded space that is prohibited to others
Man try having any quest waifu have sex with someone else and see how prohibited to others anons see that.
>>
>>46100477
>The original definition doesn't matter.
Even by the modern animu definition of the term it doesn't fit to this situation, because even there the harem is centered around the protag, which isn't the case here.
Hell all the girls had sex with eachother and one was already a pair before the protag entered a relationship with them.

So no, you're just wrong no matter what definition you want to apply.

I have no issue with harems, but this ain't one.
>>
>>46100511

But there is clearly an agreed upon sense of the word harem in the quest community.

MC with multiple lovers. That's it.

You have that. You have a harem.

That, or, as other anons are saying, one of these npcs has a harem and you are a part of it.

I think that's supposed to be that looks-like-an-insult-but-is-actually-praise-and-intended-as-such kind of comment given that it only comes up rarely and even then it's not usually as vocalized opinions or gushing over waifus.

Basically it looks like an insult because it's saying the 'worst part' of the quest is X, but X is so infrequent and mild that it means the vast majority of the quest is good.

It was both insult towards /u/fags and praise towards OP and players desu. Obviously there's an overlap.

But it isn't infrequent.

I mean, since I entered the quest like half an hour ago or something.

I thought, I really hoped, that what my friend was saying is that, as a paladin of fertility, you helped out a nice, quaint lesbian couple have some kids in ancient medieval times.

Weird, magical realmy, but overall sweet.

Instead this was LULZSORANDUMB accidental pregnancy combined with the Main character being a giant slut with a harem.

And you guys defending it with all your might that the three lesbian characters you're fucking are not a harem.

Like, this is some terminal cancer and the chemo is Pally committing quest suicide.

WEIRD 4 WAY ORGIES (most likely)

DAISY CHAINS!!!!!!!!!!

SEX NOT FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROCREATION!

THAT ISN'T PURE AT ALL! THAT IS THE OPPOSITE OF PURE!

I mean she'll be a virgin until she gets the dick since lesbian sex doesn't count, but she's still a weirdo, degenerate, fetishist

“We should be punished the same as the others” you say “right or not we broke the rules.”

“Interesting” says Instructor Tarant, raising an eyebrow “Interesting. Now all of you to your rooms – you punishment begins tomorrow.”

XXX

And boy does it ever!

You are subject to the same punishment as the others: working in the stables, writing an essay and having your names published on the school message board.

And yet...not quite.

When cleaning the stables you seem to be assigned to the less messy ones: you do far more sweeping and cleaning of tack whereas the bullies who targeted Thomas are the ones who have the heavy shovelling of manure to do.

Also whilst both groups are regularly assigned to dirty jobs whilst others eat their evening meal, your group is often bought something to eat and drink by servants who set the plates and cups down near you with a knowing wink and a comment like “I've just got a little job to do, be sure to watch this for me would you” and then return later to collect them saying “oh, cats got at it did they? Shame.”

You are also given an afternoon off to do your essay as a group, whilst the others have to work late into the evening to finish theirs.

And finally, whilst the message board lists their crimes quite harshly yours are listed as “Impulsiveness, overzealousness, failure to report rule-breaking”.

You're walking down the corridor one day discussing this apparent bias, Chesi says “It's not that I don't like it but what sort of example is this setting? I mean I'm young and impressionable and could get the wrong idea that it's ok to break the rules if you're doing the right thing after all.”

You giggle “Yeah because you're such a big believer in the rules befo-”
>>
You stop when a group of swordies block your groups path, uh oh.

Thomas bravely steps forward, the bandage still on his head “I'm not scared of you” he says.

One of the older boys in the group gives him tolerant smile “good for you” he says to Thomas.

Then he looks to you “We heard you took on fifty other students – just the six of you?”

“Something like that” you admit.

“How?” he asks. In the corridor other students stop and stare at this conversation.

“Well I have this power” you say “That let's me fight really well.”

“So I've heard” he says “look, we – the swordies – want to learn how we can get better at fighting. Would you show us?”

You give him a sceptical look, but it doesn't seem like a trick.

“Sure, I guess” you say. Maybe things are looking up for you?

And thread ends there. Thank you for playing. Next post will have the Killing Frosts known powers.
>>
The Killing Frost has demonstrated the following abilities in the past:

Cold Elemental: Immune to Cold Damage, vulnerable to fire damage. Has an elementals physiology which renders it immune to many effects that depend upon a living creatures biology. Still has a life force so some necromancy spells can affect it.

Near Immortal: Can physically disperse and 'hide' in any cold places on the plane it is on. In this form it cannot act, but heals. In this form it cannot be affected by any attacks, including deific ones. It cannot do this on some planes (i.e. Plane of Fire).

Deathly Cold Aura: Reduces the effect of any fire spell to one-third. Range of several miles. Deals damage to creatures not immune to cold.

Frozen Replica: It can create icy copies of creatures it has killed.

Magic Resistant: Most mortal magics fail against it. Powerful mages or use of a lot of Arcane Energy can overcome this.

Fell Cold: Its attacks and powers deal cold damage, and half damage to those immune to cold.

Hard to Kill: It can soak up a lot of punishment (lots of HP).

Summon Ice Elementals: Can call up lots of them at once.

Massive: It's sheer size allows it to deal a lot of damage with physical attacks and easily smash through barriers or restraints. It makes it very easy to hit though.

It is also a very powerful sorcerer with an ice theme.

Please ask questions if any of these seem unclear.

>>
>>46101373
>Does this mean mortal as in "normal mages" or mortal as in "not-divine"?

Normal mages.

A regular (non-master) mage could affect it by using most or all of their Arcane Energy.

It'll slow you down to maybe half your maximum speed, but other than that, no.
>>
>>46101341

Is there some pattern to it using that ability?
They imprisoned it on this plane, iirc, so they must have countered it somehow.
>>
>>46101442
>Is there some pattern to it using that ability?
>They imprisoned it on this plane, iirc, so they must have countered it somehow.

It has to be alive and conscious to do so.

Last time they kept it distracted until they could hit it hard enough to knock it out.
>>
>>46101442
They put it in a box, then put that box inside of another box.
>>
>>46101483
If we try to forcibly plane shift him, how will that work mechanically?
Do we spend a fixed amount of DP and hope we spend more than he did?
Or do you ask us "Do you want to spend X to overcome his resistance"?
>>
>>46101341
Cheers for the thread OP
>>
>>46101551
>Deific Spell: When casting a spell you can spend 2 Deific Power. This choice is made when the spell is cast. Any spell enhanced with Deific Power ignores immunities and resistances of the target, though saving throws apply as normal. If used to counter or dispel another spell then an opposed Willpower roll is used, Arcane Energy may be used to enhance this opposed roll.
>>
>>46101592
We had regularly other spell actions that fell out of this mold, especially when interacting with deific or similar powers.

>>
>>46101551
Bit of both, e.g.

He is resisting your effort to planeshift, will you:

>spend no DP
>spend X DP
>Spend enough to overcome him

With the third option explicitely not being a value of 'his points spent +1' but rather 'his points spent + a variable number'.

In other words the third option wins, but could seriously deplete your reserves.

Him spending DP to resist being planeshifted means you could wear him down simply by casting the spell over and over.

He spends how much DP he spends when he chooses to resist the spell, this amount does not change whether you spend none or lots.
>>
>>46101805
>Tuesday
Oh my bad, thanks.
>>
>>46101827
That does sound very useful.
And if we make all our powerful casters do it at the same time, does he resist with one expenditure for the entire turn, or does he need to spend DP for each attempt?
>>
>>46101827
Will there be another timeskip after the Frost?
>>
>>46101827
To keep things transparent I will tell AA how much DP the KIlling Frost is using - he will not participate in the vote for the amount.

He will then tell everyone the amount used after the vote.

>>46101900
>And if we make all our powerful casters do it at the same time, does he resist with one expenditure for the entire turn, or does he need to spend DP for each attempt?

Yes, but only a small amount is needed to resist a non-deific caster

>>46101936
A 1 year skip is planned, yes

>>46103109
>You're a saint of patience putting up with this shit and still enjoy qming.

Thank you. Apologies for the blogging but what almost made me quit isn't the yuri/het dilema or the forcing my waifu's/husbando's.

It was the criticism over the Grey Giants in PoJ and the lack of focus on club activities/dungeons in EGS.

Because those were entirely my fault and I felt very bad over them.

The other stuff is mostly a matter of opinion, but on those two issues I know I fucked up and it still impacts my enjoyment of running Paladin of Joy
>>
>>46103275
Don't let it, I'm new to this quest. I read the whole fucking thing just so I could contribute. I enjoy this story, I also enjoy you as a QM. Everyone stumbles, you just need to not let it consume you.
>>
>>46103275
>It was the criticism over the Grey Giants in PoJ
OUCH

Given i was pretty vocal about that (though not as much as the guy who butthurt posted into your ask.fm), I feel pretty bad about that.
I didn't want to discourage you, just point out problems and how it could impact the player psyche going forward.
Though maybe I could have been nicer about it, I'm afraid english not being my first language makes me sometimes a bit tone deaf for how I bring things across.
I'm glad it didn't make you drop it though and hope you can regain your enthusiasm for this quest, because I really enjoy it since the first thread.

I really really hope it didn't also impact your enjoyment of Egwens.
>>
>>46103377
>I feel pretty bad about that.

You shouldn't.

How should I put this: I need feedback, positive AND negative.

At the end of threads players thank me for running: and that's great, makes me feel happy, makes me want to run.

But it contains no facts that I can use to improve, rarely do people say: Thanks and I particularly liked this scene.

Granted last thread I got a lot of positive feedback over the MIli/Chesi hug. But that was an exception.

What upset me was not the feedback over the Grey Giants (and other stuff) but that I had fucked up.

I wasn't unhappy that you pointed out my mistake: I was upset to have made one.

Now it would be much worse if you hadn't pointed it out - then I would have run with it and made it worse.

So thank you kind anon, for calling me out and helping me improve.
>>
>>46103492
>Granted last thread I got a lot of positive feedback over the MIli/Chesi hug
Yeah, pandering always gets good feedback.

I mean, I enjoyed it that pandering, but yeah.
>>
>>46103492
>But it contains no facts that I can use to improve, rarely do people say: Thanks and I particularly liked this scene.
This is a very common thing for QMs to say I noticed.
It seems proper feedback over scenes really should come more often.
I guess people aren't inclined to particularly point out things they like, since pointing out flaws with things is easier to make a argument out of, but its a notably common issue from QMs.
>>
>>46103584
>I guess people aren't inclined to particularly point out things they like, since pointing out flaws with things is easier to make a argument out of, but its a notably common issue from QMs.

It's a natural thing I suppose.

Ask someone why they like a thing: it's good

Ask them why they dislike a thing: It's bad because of [reasons].
>>
>>46103647
>It's a natural thing I suppose.
It is, probably still frustrating.

I think another part is, if I remark on a particular scene, like for example that Chesi hug, I feel like I'm being pushy to the QM.
Like it could come across as trying to encourage him to pander to me.
Its a weird feeling.
>>
>>46101975
