You are a newly hatched Manticore barely 4 hours old, currently being scrubbed clean of eggwhites, blood and guts by squires of the so called peasant knights, Wide Arch. Your current demeanor is that of a sulky little girl which really doesn't suit you due to the fact that really are a mid twenties student, a male one at that, having been summoned to another world, the cliche is completed by the fact that you are inside a large and sprawling fantasy town with all manner of demi-humans running around and magic seemingly commonplace.

As two female squires keep dousing you in alternatively hot and cold water to rinse your skin, hair and fur, between intense scrubbing action, you briefly wonder if you'll revert to your old form if hit by the water..

After a good scrubbing you are assisted into a large heated wooden tub with hot water, normally you would have climbed up on your own, but your right arm is still hurts quite badly after being hit by an iceball the size of a football. You are pretty certain you could jump up and into the water, you seem to have gained extra ordinary physical abilities with your new form, and seemingly the instincts to use them properly too. Or fly for that matter, looking over each shoulder as you get assisted into the water you can't help but get exited by the idea of flying under your own power. But that does not matter right now, the water is as hot as you can tak ite and with a little time you are able to sit down and just soak, the fatigue of your first few minutes as a hatchling is setting in.

Barely a minute has passed since you finally found a comfortable position in the tub, your rear appendages makes it a bit awkward to sit against the edges, Gerwine the vice captain of the knights enters the small secluded outerlying area of the courtyard where you are taking a bath. Acting like a child might have been a good defence for protecting the fact that you are an outsider, but these knights seems to be fully aware of this and you figure it might be better to drop the act and start figuring out where you are and whats going on.

Gerwine approaches the bath and looks down on you
"Oh, your much cuter when you aren't drenched in blood, well.." she drags out and touches the fat leathery tail that is currently bobbing in the water.
"I dont think I have ever seen one of those outside a book before, Manticores are not a naturally occurring species"
"Then again those who summon outsiders illegally often try to find strong bodies to host the souls, tend to make more valuable slaves if they possess magick rather than knowledge. It's not unheard of creating artificial species for a summoning"

"Before we continue this little chat, first hold out your right hand for me, and secondly, are you ready to give me your name yet?"
"Alex.." you mutter slowly, slowly dropping the pouting face Genderbender friendly name got chosen from last thread

As you hold out your arm you once again feel mana being manipulated, it flows from Gerwine into a small orb she is holding and out into your arm.

"Ahh, that feels nice"
"It does doesn't it, this is an state of the art fully contained healing device complete with bone setting, suturing, disinfection, accelerated healing and so on. The guild responsible for crafting these only make one every 6th year. And I am the only one trained in it's use amongst our knights" She seems awfully proud of herself, her nose is for some reason pointing upwards
"That's impressive, does that make you a priest? Or maybe a paladin considering you guys are knights?"
"No, i'm just a regular mage just like everyone else"
"Everyone else? Like all the knights?" That's awesome, you might be in the company of battlemages
"No, like everyone else, literally everyone else. Mana flows trough every living being and everyone who put their mind to it can use it, we are all mages"

>[FREAK OUT] "You are telling me there are reality bending psychopaths all around me!?"
>How difficult is it to learn?

Your face warping into a disturbed and shocked look only found on bad late night tv shows.
"You are telling me there are reality bending psychopaths all around me!?"

Gerwine puts a hand on your should and looks at you a bit quizzical.

It doesn't calm you down at all, you twist out of her grip and grab her instead.

"Are you telling me that at any given anyone on the streets might decide to inject his fetish into reality? Turn kids into tadpoles or raise the dead to do gardening work?"

"It seems like you either come from a place where mages are quite powerful, or you might suffer from quite the case of misinformation"
"Magic isn't all powerful, and only a small part of the population possess the mental capacity to control and cast grade spells"

You eye a glimmer of hope, this world might not be mad after all
"So only a few select people are mages"

"Roughly 15% of the population have strong enough magic to be considered soldiers, another 5% would be considered strong enough to become knights"

Only 20%..
20%..
How big is this city, just how many people can't tell right from wrong in just your close vicinity, let alone this world
You adopt a resigned look and stare down into the tub, wondering if you just shouldn't jam your head into the water recycle pipe and get it over with.

1/4
>>
>>46119184
Gerwine let's out a big sigh

"Look, magick isn't such a scary thing. Sure it can conjure big fireballs out of thin air, make you strong enough to toss armored horses into the air, or cut a man in half with a water jet.. But that's all it can do, the effects of magic is limited to your mental capacity and control, you can't do fantastical things of fairy tales."

"Besides there's a limit to how many spells a mage can cast, most only master a single signature spell, and they need to reserve mental capacity for scrolls, wands, enchantments or other magical items."

"There are a few exceptions, beastkin like you are notable for being able to instinctively increase their physical ability in addition to any other spells they might know, elementally attuned creates almost always are able to cast multiple spells of their aligned element"

2/4
>>
>>46119209
Calming down from your previous outburst you ask "If anyone can do magick, can I do it to?"

"Everyone can, as I just said you already instinctively know how to do body enhancing magick"
"To learn other kinds you need to sit down and enter a mental state suitable and just focus, it's different for everyone and there's no right way, and it takes weeks even when you know what you are doing. Your only clue of your progress is by reading your mana flow in your body"
"Personally I do it by gardening, somehow it calms me down and it's easier for me to think of and visualize how to shape my spell, my husband has an easier time, he says all he has to do is to visit a tavern and have a good talk with friends over a beer"

"Gardening? Really?"

"It's different for everyone. The only guarantee is that it's definitely something you enjoy doing and focuses your mind"
"There's also the possibility that your god will bestow you instant knowledge of a spell of their domain, but thats rare"

3/4
>>
>>46119262
"Apart from those exceptions, there are some very skilled mages out there that can cast two spells or possibly more, but in my 56 years in the order interacting with societies strongest I have yet to meet anyone"

Your eyes widen, once again something ridiculous has been mentioned, raising your head to look over at Gerwine you can't help but think that she looks young, late teens or early adult young, younger than you were in your previous world.

Sensing that she might have upset you again with some new disturbing information she quickly starts explaining, probably hoping to avoid another freaking out episode
"Mana slows down your rate of aging and keeps you healthy, see magic isn't so bad"

"So... So how long is the life expectancy of, uhh, a human?" You can't really compare that of a Manticore with the life expectancy back in your old world

"That depends on the person and their mana, but by knight rank you are expected to be immortal for all intents and purposes"

...

What's the point, you are trapped in fantasy world that get's stupider by the minute. Common sense does not apply anymore. If you hide away then the world can't touch you, or hurt you, or turn you into a frog or whatever. You stay like that for a short while but the ride seems never ending at this point.

As you raise your head again your eyes meet Gerwine's, she seems a bit concerned about you freaking out like this. Her spare hand finds its way to your head and she places it right between your ears, fingers slowly finding their way to your newly found sensitive flesh at the base of the ears. The stimulation might not be appropiate to your current situation, but it does slowly lure you out of your pretend cave.

A few moments pass until you sit right up again, you need to think positive thoughts, if there's a silver lining you haven't seen any magical piss shower trees yet, and the demi-humans you saw earlier were all of the cat ears and tails type, no furries spotted.

"But doesn't that mean that your society is ossified and stagnant, old men and women keeping progress at a standstill because they can't handle change?"

"You would think so, but with age usually ambition and arrogance follows. Hardly anyone pass the five hundred year mark and there's only one man in the entire alliance that passed a thousand"

"Hardly anyone as in hardly anyone or as in a fifth of the population?"

"The increasingly ambitious and arrogant old men and women tend to instigate conflicts and wars all the time tends to cull even the most experienced knights."

"Which is why capital punishment is often used as immortals tend to carry grudges for a long time, so it's almost always easier to deal with a problem permanently"

Deadpanning her you wonder just how that was supposed to reassure you. Your life of modern creature comforts seems increasingly more distant.

"I'm almost afraid of asking at this point, but who is this oldest person who's over a thousand years old?"

"He's not, he was Ludwig of Chadeux, the king of a country and he fought off countless rebellions and over 6 generations of his own offspring aiming for his throne"
"Naturally it was mostly in his mind, age and the stress of leading an unstable country made his mental health continuously deteriorate"
"In the end, after over a millennia on the throne, he was finally dethroned, there were no-one left to back his authority over the domain"

>Ask about the gods
>So now what do I do

Gods she mentioned, you were not much of a church goer in your previous world, but hey this is a fantasy one, maybe he does exist, or a pantheon does?

"You mentioned gods.. is he an old man in the sky? Are there more of him? who are they? are they real? Are there churches or priests or other bothersome organizations? Anything religious I should avoid, like not drawing prophets or refer to the gods by name?"

Gerwine is having trouble getting a word in when you fire off rapid questions like that, and an surprising enthusiuasm, not one you possessed while speaking of religion back home.

"Really now you decide to act like a child again, I'm fairly certain I had you pegged as an adult."
"There are multiple gods, and unlike the insectoids of the southern continent, all humans and demi-humans enjoy a personal connection to their gods, there's no need for an intermediate like a priest or a temple"

"So, how do I chose one, if I can't ask guidance from priests?"

"You dont, they chose you, or maybe you are fated to your relation. A gods demeanor and domain will reflect your inner persona, regardless the god whom will become your deity will always be the best or right choice for you"

"So how do I know how to worship them?"

"There's no one way, but generally you just need to live your life as you seem fit. I'm sure you'll understand once you meet your fated deity, it's common that they speak to you in your sleep."
"My husband's deity, Eikug the Ogre is the god of taverns and drinks, every night he spends his time in his gods domain, drinking with other worshippers and having fun. Honestly I'm a bit envious, I follow Oswun the god of Justice, He is a deity of few words and a stoic demeanor, I rarely meet him unless he has need of me"

"So I have a blind date and a shotgun wedding waiting for me in my dreams"

"I dont know what a shotgun is, but it sounds like it"

1/5
>>
>>46121843
You are starting to understand the world you are going to live in, but now more intermediate concerns are surfacing on your mind. Where do you go from here? Where do you sleep? How do you get food? You don't even own any clothing? Is slavery a thing here?

Your ears fall flat on your head as these thoughts fog your mind. You can't help but feeling a knot tighten in your stomach and you cast your eyes down as you ask Gerwine. You may be an adult, but you have never before experienced a real bad day in your life.
"Now what do I do? I don't have anything of value and I have nowhere to go."

Sensing your anxiety she pulls you into a short hug before assisting you out of the bath. You are starting to get a big sister vibe of her.

"First we will dry you up and get you some clothing. We got some spare clothes meant for the squires, they might not fit well, but it's better than nothing"
"Then you just wait here while I prepare something for you"

2/5
>>
>>46121868
The two female squires who had scrubbed you earlier comes over with some folded clothes.

There's a olive drab looking shirt, you also get handed a grayish looking pair of trousers and a leather belt. They fit absolutely poorly, they are too large and your rear mounted appendages don't fit. With some quick tailoring one of the squires manage to cut out and reinforce holes for your tail and wings. The squire tailor also cuts into the shirt and trousers to expose your furred arms and legs.

Unfortunately there's no underwear, the tail is in the way, they had some with a pre cut hole for cat and dog demi-humans, but your tail is just too thick, you are going to have to get that custom tailored.

It's not exactly the most comfortable clothes you've ever worn, they are stiff compared to modern clothing and slightly itching, but it beats going naked or using the blood soaked sheet you had earlier.

During the fitting you try lifting your arm and it's remarkable how much it has recovered during your bath, it still hurts but this is definitely not an arm who's bones had shattered into multiple fragments, healing magic seems to be very real even tough it didn't heal it completely.

3/5
>>
>>46121899
After a while twiddling your thumbs Gerwine returns, she tosses you a cloth bag.

"So this is how this is going down. We can't keep you here, anyone higher up who read our report might think to try to acquire you for themselves, I mentioned power struggles, ambitions and arrogance amongst old men right? An outsider whom may or may not possess knowledge or magic beyond this world often prove tempting, they would have no quarrels about leaning on us to hand you over. Make sure nobody finds out outside of the knights, there are other less powerful organizations whom would never risk siphoning mana of the city's reserves, but would easily stoop to kidnap a small child"

"Secondly there's some pocket change inside the bag, I know you really aren't a kid, but I'm going to say it anyway, spend it wisely"

"Third, there are letters of introduction in the bag too, they are addressed to mine or captain Druzag's personal friends unaffiliated with the knights whom can, and with these letters should, help you"

"The first letter is addressed to the owners of the Inn The Chilly Snowman, friends of captain Druzag. It's located close by and should help you get a roof over your head and some food for the next few days. There's a road description there as well"

"The second letter is addressed to a friend of mine at the courier service affiliated with the adventurers guild in this city district. As you are a winged demi-human, you can easily earn a living like that"

"The third letter is adressed to my husband who works at the institute of metamagics, at the city university. I'm going to tell him directly, but you'll need that letter to gain access to the university grounds itself. Contact him if you have something to pass on to me, or if you feel the need to share or trade some of that outlander knowledge"

There's a feeling of relief spreading across your body as it remedies the anxiety you had been feeling up until now. You can't help but put on a sincere smile and try as you can to give your thanks you are interrupted by another hug, this one a bit tighter than the ones you had earlier. Oooh your ears are sensitive, it's going to be hard to get used to this, but you can't blame her, had the situation been the revers you would have done the same.

As she lets up she gives you one last piece of advice.

"For your own sake, stay away from this place, you can't risk getting seen here after we deliver our report. As I said, contact my husband if you are in need of help"

Anyways, calling and writing
>>
>>46122507
As you take in the tone of her voice, the one of a knight giving orders of to a subordinate, you are very grateful for everything she has done, but you don't want this to be your separation memory.

You take three steps forward, and realising just a bit to late how embarrassing it is to beg for a headpat. Had it been back in your home world you would easily, but only with alcohol fueled courage, tried to pick her up, but somehow here as a little girl asking for something as innocent as a headpat seems a lot more embarrassing.

You feel your cheeks redden and you suddenly cast your gaze sideways, unable to think of any words you simply bow forwards and present your head. It takes her a while before she gets it, and once again you are rewarded with a light hug and a hand that gently strokes, pokes and massages the base of your ears. It feels great, but they are so sensitive, whenever she are just slightly rougher you can't help but tense your muscles and slightly stretch out from your toes and up.

And, she smells, you currently have your face around her neck and you can't avoid smelling her body scent. After the bath it seems like your nose has become very sensitive to smells, the numerous fragments trough the air has been hard to separate from eachother, but now that you are so close to the source one you can't help but slowly sniff out the scent of her body and her sweat. This isn't good, while you may be in the body of a child you have the mind of an adult, you wanted to leave with a big sister impression, not the lewd version.

1/3
>>
>>46123442
It's not you nor Gerwine who break you up, the two female squires who had been attending you both come over proclaiming "How cute!", and they in turn replace her role of keeping the delicate and sensitive nerve endings at the base of your ears on edge. The cuddly moment has already passed over into pleasure, and it seems like the two girls enjoy keeping you on the edge, it's nothing more than teasing on their part but the moment they see you relax your facial expression or tense your muscles they change it up. They happen to both be some sort of canine demi-humans so they definitely know what you they are doing.

You feel winded by the time they let up, by the looks they are giving you they had a good time teasing you, given your image of how hard a squires training and duties are, you can't hold it against them, they deserve it for looking after you. You definitely are going are taking revenge given the chance.

Breathing to calm down, you put on your warface, yours happen to be a very determined one and it's the best one you can show Gerwine that you will be alright on your own.

While exiting the bath area you make sure to thank, shake hands or give hugs to the other squires and knights you see before leaving the courtyard. Druzag is nowhere to bee seen, you'll have to postpone his hug.

It's still afternoon when you pass the corner of the smaller street leading from the knight's compound and onto the mainstreet of this district, on your way to the inn. The street is bustling with activity, a bit too much actually, you have completely forgotten how it is to be a kid and stare at everyones belly or lower back all day.

It's not like you are going to lose your sense of direction, but getting around is a bit tough. Closer to the edge of the street it's a bit easier, and there are market stalls around.

And the smell! Your sensitive beastkin nose is picking up something that smells amazing. You start salivating long before you actually spot the source, there's a small marketstall where a merchant is cooking what looks like shish kebab spears.

The smell is overpowering, the rich smell of wild game sizzling in it's own fat, there are vegetables in between the meat pieces and they look juicy. The kebab is marinated in a thick dark red brownish sauce.

From what you can tell it costs 4 copper pieces for a kebab, you have no idea if that's cheap or expensive.

Oh dear, no pass on the first few rolls

You cannot resist the smell, the flavors, as you consume the kebabs in your meat induced fervor, one of spears sticks in your throat. You are dead, quest end.

You have trouble thinking straight, the smell is overpowering your not so steely will of an adult, you know better but can't help it. Before you have the chance to think it trough your paws are digging inside the bag looking for the money you are supposed to have. Your paws and digits are quite large compared your body and your fine motor skills for picking up small objects seems to be behind that of a human, maybe it is because you are still a child or it might be due to how you are mono focused on the meat right in front of you. Eventually you manage to pick up 4 copper looking coins.

The vendor, a male where-sheep, looks at you as you approach his stall.

"Oh, another cute beastkin child who can't seem to resist my kebabs?" You know he's been sending you looks ever since you started fiddling with your bag, it's a pre practiced script

You decide to play along in order to protect your real identity, the genuine anticipation of sinking your teeth into the meat pieces adds to your acting skills. With an exited face you pick out just the spear you want and hand him the coins.

Spear in hand you consume the kebab pieces on the at a rapid pace. It's just as you had imagined, the tender meat juices mixes with your saliva as you are chewing, the partially decomposed chemicals fire off taste receptors on your tongue, bringing your meat induced fervor ever so higher, your ears couldn't perk taller.

Minutes later you arrive at what has to be the Chilly Snowman, the logo on the outside is a dead giveaway. Shifting trough the letters in the bag, you find the one addressed to the inn.

The inn is surprisingly big, it seems like you could fit 40 patrons in the dinning and drinking area, and it looks like it's 3/4 filled.

As one of the waiters, a young yeti, pass you by, you inform her that you have a letter for the owners and wish to speak with them.

Taking a quick look at the envelope, she starts shouting towards the back of the inn

"Mom, dad, there's someone who wish to speak with you!"

And thread end, it's getting too late for me

We should totally take up message delivery.
That lets you see ALL SORTS of shit. You get to see almost as much shit delivering things as you do in janitorial work, but with much less mess.

>Eeeh... Interest levels above zero but significantly lower.
I had a discussion regarding that in the quest weekend when I started, we boiled it down to that most qm's are straight male and have issues writing interesting male romances since they lack the spark for it

Honestly I hope you guys pick it up, it's one of my pre planning favourite ideas

I'll announce it on twitter, look for the sticky somewhere at top. Hopefully it will be tomorrow, but as with today I had a lot of gardening work that needed done.

I'll also try to run during easter as I got nothing better to do, but I'll make no promises.

>>46125245
Just sucks i can't read it cause of that, it looks like a good quest with potential.
I'll follow on twitter in case you ever do anything else.

Each to ones I suppose. Thanks for the positive feedback, I'm still very very new to this.

Also, I'll be looking into stating Alex over easter to give you guys an idea of character progress. I'm still shit scared for painting myself into a bad spot over that

This may be kind of off topic, but what exactly was Alex majoring in before he became a manticore?

from what I've seen thus far, I doubt the OP is as lewd as he thinks.
I'll be in my normal standby to post for this one.

I've been pretty clear on that I'm at most going to write fade to black lewds, and definitely not smut. I'm not using the Monster Girls setting and the girls are just character templates, aside from the succubi family, they aren't going to be any lewder than any other insert animal ear and tail girls.

Manticore retains her lewd tail only because it's such a defining feature of the design, despite how ridiculous it really is.

Are you suggesting we create a skeleton computer?
>>
>>46127159
fun fact, after finally getting sick and tired of undead invasion every other century, remains are ceremonially broken into tiny pieces, drastically increasing the control and thus magic required to animate skeletons
>>
>>46127312
Yeah, cremation makes a lot of sense in fantasy settings.
But there's bound to be some nigh immortal mage somewhere that's made one like that /tg/ project.
