Running a short quest based off anons' suggestions, so I can practice writing. I'll take just about anything within reason.
>>
>>46123011
Let's make something classic. A pious knight on a quest to save a princess/fair maiden from a Dragon.
>>
>>46123116
Sounds good, I'll give other people a chance to suggest stuff before I start.

First vote will probably be a vote for type of knight, assuming nothing else gets suggested.
>>
Giving it a bit more time and then we go for knight quest if nobody else votes for something else.
>>
>>46123116
This, except the dragon is actually a physical manifestation of the knight's fear of his latent homosexuality.
>>
>>46123637
What exactly did you have in mind for that?
>>
>>46123716
What if the saving the dragon quest is all in his head because he has been in a coma for the better part of a decade? What if, after slaying the dragon, he awakes with renewed confidence and fully accepting his own sexuality? Then we go on a quest to save a gay prince from a tribe of amazon musclegirls.
>>
>>46123637
That's not how the Dragon works as a Jungian archetype, anon.
He'd be either a representation of the old fears of mankind, predators and things like that, perhaps a phobia of some sort, or a representation of the challenges the person needs to surpass, and the slaying of the Dragon represents the person's capacity to overcome said challenges.

Another idea, the Princess is a rebellious Action Princess and the Dragon is her friend who only kidnapped her so she could leave the castle and live a life of adventure. Misundertandings happen along the way.

How about a quixotic knight? Pious for sure, but he ain't actually a knight in any way, he's just gonna save a fair maiden from the dragon because that's what knights would do.

Obligatory muh lady knight comment

In all seriousness, knight rescuing a princess from a dragon sounds pretty good.

Make the dragon an essential part of the local fauna, and extend that the problems with predators smaller than the dragon will arise if the knight slays it, and they learn this along the way.

Sure you can, modern classics are a thing they just need a few years to officially gain he title. War and Peace was once a brand new release, but now it's a classic. Same with The Great Gatsby.

Surpass a classic and sooner or later you become a classic yourself.

Godspeed, Ace. We look forward to Lady Isabella the Valiant Knight with a Bastard Sword.
>>
You are knight errant Isabella. One amongst many tasked by the royal stuart sent on a rescue mission to save Princess Jeanne. While you feel indebted to the kingdom and do feel that rescuing an innocent girl is the right thing to do, the reward of your family being elevated to nobility and potentially marrying into royalty, helped you decide that this particular just cause would be the one you pursued. There are a lot of wrongs to right after all and why not spend your time going after one that pays well? Oh and if it got out that the princess was captured, it would lessen the kingdom's standing and hurt the well established order of things. Can't forget that. So like many other knights or untrained peasants looking to make a better life for them and their family, you set off to save the princess. Unlike the others, it seems you have actually found where the dragon took her. The dragon may be many things but stealthy is not one of them. It wasn’t hard to get innkeepers to point you after the dragon’s flight path, and while you were sceptical they were just bullshitting you, in an attempt to make a few coins, the ruin on top of a plateau seem to indicate that they actually did see the dragon pass by.

As you are pulling some rope out of your pack to help with the climb, even if you could probably make the climb without it, you would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. As your hocking it into your belt you hear some falling and muffled yelling. Looking up you see that a figure with less armor than you has crashed into an outcropping part of the way up.

Do you:

Did not even raise questions about the poster's sexual orientation, didn't call them a faggot, could not insult effectivelly, intentionally or not.

0/10, did not rage, would not turn into a meme, only managed to incite vague feelings of disappointment and pity. In the future, consider using more subtlety.

That person is in trouble, you can ask questions later. Your armored boots find purchase in the dirt and gravel, advancing as fast as you dare. Some roots almost send you falling but with your training you manage the right yourself in time to regain your balance without losing too much momentum. Grabbing a withered plant still stuck into the hill and using it to hold yourself before lunging for the outcropping. The dying brambles partially rip out before you left go of it, during the act of yourself up the ledge, parts of the plant that go stuck in your vambraces smack into your helmet. After pulling yourself up high enough to get your leg over the edge, you rip it out before turning to the groaning figure. He is covered in shallow cuts leaving blood sweat and dirt all over him, encrusted into his beard and running over his tattoos. None of the cuts or bruises look life threatening, but you can only see his arms and the part of his face left uncovered by his cracked helmet.

“Are you alright?”

“I’m fine.”

“You don’t look fine, should let me take a look.”

“Don’t need help.”

“Let me help you down from here.”

He just grunts at you, which you take as approval to pick him up. As much as you would like to carry him like a potato sack, you have no idea what kind of injuries his torso has, so you put an arm under his back and the other under his thigh. You slide down the hill as slowly as you can while you carry him this way. Once you reach the bottom he gets out of your arms and briefly brushes himself off.

I stay mostly on the Quests, filename threads, the less popular systems like Dungeons the Dragoning and AdEva, storytime threads and silly roleplays like "Meanwhile on Dragon /tg/".

Quests are easy mode though. They're either slow and chill, comfy as fuck and full of nice people or fast, furious and full of trolls. And thing is, all those trolls tend to weed out the ones that put less effort or have less skill in their trolling like mister All Caps over there. Rage and Salt are limited resources, and they have to compete for it.

I also tend to skim the threads instead of reading everything.

Yes, many of them and frequently, but that's one of the Fast, Furious and Trolly quests. If you don't put effort, you don't get much salt. Unless you're Fluff or Crix, but they have it easy, just a word amd it's like all those anons turn into pillars of salt like Lot's wife.

“No, these infinitesimal wounds will be gone shortly. I take it you are here for the dragon?”

"What does an elf like you want with a princess from the human kingdom? Marching headlong into death for another kingdom sounds strange."

“I was charging, haven’t marched in my life, and I have no idea what this is about a princess. I am here to murder the dragon.” The meat slab of an elf states as a simple matter of fact as he gestures at the axes strapped to his hips and the daggers on his breast plate.

“Given that our goals align I feel I should point out their is a better path to the left. Shall we work together.”

Goren holds out his hand, and you shake it. Wasting no time the elf proceeds to rush up the route you pointed out, with what your training tells you is reckless. In his haste he trips a few times but never falls more than ten feet before picking himself and running up again. You watch all of this as you scale the hill with far more care. The elf reaches the top well before you and just stands still at the edge while you climb. It is around this time you hear a loud beastial growl followed by a bright light, despite this Goren remains still watching you climb as though nothing had happen. Once you are within reach his gloved hand darts out, grabs your forearm, and pulls you up to the summit. Catching your breath you see the skeletons of various buildings, most nothing more than a few walls, the ones that have roofs seem to have been at least two story buildings before being wrecked. The further in the worse the damage seems to be altho there are exceptions to this with a few buildings being barely damaged or fine. A large keep deeper in, past the building seems to be where the sounds of fighting are coming from.

“Ready?”

“Yes I am, thank you.”

After you answer the elf gestures towards the keep and takes off to it. You see little point in doing anything else so you follow after him. Goren awaits you at a breach in the keep’s wall. Forming up at the side of the breach, you poke your head out and see a person in white armor wielding a spear with your kingdom’s banner tied just below the spearhead. The fighter in white armor raises up the banner before slamming the butt into the ground. The flag radiates with a golden light, before the scaled beast vomits fire at it.

You signal Goren to go in first and that you will follow after him. He nods in agreement before he runs in screaming with a serrated axe in each hand. The dragon regards him shifting the eye on the side of its face nearest to Goren and you before flames pass through the breach. Swearing to yourself as you sprawl away from the flames. Shit! What the hell is is thinking. He seemed to get the need for signaling and nodding. You had hoped to close as much distance as you could before the dragon noticed you, given as you are at a disadvantage without any kind of ranged attack. After the flames stop erupting out of the breach you take your chance to charge through it not knowing when you would get another chance or how much time you had. You see that the white gold knight had taken advantage of Goren’s distraction, stabbing at the dragon’s rips with the spear. None of the punctures were that deep however having suffered them at the hands of a mere human wounded the dragon’s pride worse than the bleeding holes in its side.

Goren hacked an axe through the scales in the dragon’s right arm, leaving the axe inside he jumped and landed on axe using it as a springboard to jump higher up the dragon, dislodging the axe in a bloody mess , while the furious dragon used its left claw to backhand the figure in white, launching it into what was left of a stable. At this point Goren had a dagger in each hand, each having a blade with a snake life curve, each chained to his person, with inhuman speed the elven warrior brought down each dagger in turn, cutting into the dragon in a way that you imagined made that part of its back look like a sponge.
>>
>>46134435
With glowing red eyes that burned with such scorn and sadism that you could feel it inside of your bones the beast tore Goren from its back and threw him to the ground with such force that the elf bounced off the ground, or to be more specific the dragon let him bounce be throwing him off somewhere to the left. You have no idea where the elf went because at this point you had reached the dragon, you put all your weight behind your bastard sword, the force of the blow turning your whole body, you feel the impact run up your arms as the blade makes contact with the beast’s leathery wings, your heart jumping in your chest as to your great pride, the bastard sword cleaves all the way through the wing leaving a laceration all the way through the wing, causing the wing to bend at an alternate angle than the side of the wing that was separated by the wound. With triumph the blade stabs into the dirt, as you start to pull your sword out of the ground, the dragon starts to spin around as if mocking how you cut it, by the time you’ve removed it from the ground the dragon has completed its turn impacting you with its tale, you hear a crack as the wind is knocked out of you sending you flying back. Whipping through the air you only think about what that cracking sound was an oblivious to the fact that you are now flying backwards through the air, only coming to realise this fact as you land in some hay.

As you come to you see your princess in the white gold knight’s armor kneeling beside you, her long blonde hair going down her back in what you assume was a neat french braid before becoming that messy. Her spear glowing with a blue aura that surrounds the two of you, fire washing over it in a dome. Your princess undoes the fasteners on the right of your breastplate then flips it open revealing that a puddle of blood had formed in the imprint the dragon’s tail left in your torso. Princess Jeanne lays her hands on your wound muttering something before emitting a light warm light from her hands. Jaw dropping as you watch the most likely fatal wound be reduced to nothing more than a blood stain on your gambeson.

“I am afraid there is nothing I can do to fix the dent in your breast plate.”

“You are Jeanne? I-I mean Princess Jeanne, I mean no disrespect your highness.” You nervously blurt out at your violation of decorum.

“Yes” She says with a smile that seems to be coming more from her eyes than her mouth “But I think we have more important things to worry about than pointless etiquette.”

“I was sent here to rescue you, let’s go.” You say as you scramble to your feet.

“Yes, yes I know, and thanks to that wound you put in that monster’s wing we should be able to escape once I get the rock. Still I hadn’t planned on leaving your friend there.”

“That rock is important isn’t it?”

“Yes, I don’t have time to explain but it is the whole reason I came here, I don’t intend to leave without it”

The fact that she came here willingly rather than being abducted surprises you but you don’t let that stop you. You pick up your sword and say.

“I’ll try to buy you some time to find whatever that thing is, if I don’t make it tell my mother that I tired.”

“Not after I spent all that effort saving you. Besides I don’t even know your name.”

“Its-”

“Ahhhh I can’t hear you. Introduce yourself when we get off that plateau” Jeanne shouts as she runs off into the tower.

Sighing you mentally brace yourself as you move out of the stable to see the elf roll under the dragon’s claws holding a dagger up so that the dragon uses its own strength to cut itself as it swipes at the elf.

Hopefully it'll think we're stealing some, and we don't want to be in a probably stone building with a fire breathing dragon around and platemail on.

Taking some time to fully detach the front of your breastplate you get down on a knee and undo the straps and buckles holding it in place. Holding it in one hand you bang on it like you’ve seen some people do with a shield and shout “Cripple wing!” Before turning tail and running into a dilapidated building. The wall near the front door goes flying to the side, fortunately you far enough in that none of it hits you. Quickly making a turn you run into what you think is a kitchen, moving to the side you run at a window, jumping over a counter and hitting the window knees first. You don’t even feel the impact as you hit the ground and roll, suddenly the building goes skidding across the street, looking back you see that the dragon had thrown its left side into building body slamming the building, demolishing it like a child playing with blocks. You are happy that you remembered to serpentine, tricking the dragon into thinking you only moved in one direction.

Seeing that the dragon is at least somewhat winded from going through a building, you waste no time waiting for it to get to it’s feet and dash for the watchtower. Slamming the door shut you shove an old table against the entryway as a makeshift way to bar the door. Scrambling up the stairs you don’t make it that far before part of the dragon’s snout bashes through the door.

Search for a polearm weapon like a spear or a large banner. If we're going to jump down on it, we might as well have something long enough that pierces the mouth through both sides and makes it hard to open again. If nothing is found, then I suppose we'll just have to

Seeing the dragon use its face as a battering ram spurs you on to rush up the stairs, your feet and heart pounding, you flash back to all the obstacle courses your drill sergeants ran you through. Even though they still haunt your nightmares you are grateful they worked you so hard. After being briefly slowed down by the doorway being temporarily too narrow to fit its head through, it cranes its neck after you, from this angle looking like some kind of demonic snake, its neck slithering after you. While the dragon’s shoulders are injured, they have not been hurt to the point of being dislocated, and make themselves known, preventing it from following you any further. The beastial serpant lets out a snarl before pulling its head out, not long before you ran out of room to keep running as you find part of the stairway to be caved in. Having gained a respite from imminent death, you’re taking a moment to catch your breath in what appears to be a miniature version of a barracks with some playing cards scattered across a table and a few beds in somewhat useable condition despite clearly having seen better days.

Part of the way down the stairs a section of the wall begins to glow red hot. You take cover behind a inner portion of a wall in the barracks with your bastard sword at the ready. Getting ready to fight like a cornered animal which you actually are, you hear the sound of the dragon crashing through the wall. Before the dust has even reached the barracks you are charging, at the hole in the wall where the dragon is surprised to see you coming at it.

>[] Fight it here. Stab it in the fucking face!
>[] Jump out.
>[] Use the dragon itself as an escape route, stabbing your sword into it as you slide down its back.

That's one Lady Knight that gets around. I think she gets posted on almost all character art threads involving knights.

I bet many a young lad of her kingdom joined knightly orders just because of her face, like Uncle Sam recruitment posters, but with a hot chick.

Truth is, she's really sick of this Heroine of the Realm, Symbol of Knighthood bullshit and just wants to retire already. And maybe pick up dancing and singing as a hobby. I'd totally play an Idol Knights quest, by the way.
>>
>>46144365
Taking advantage of the dragon having expected you to be cowering in a corner, you leap onto the dragon’s snout, kick it in the eye as you run up its face. Tripping on the squishy patch that Goren made out of you start to fall, but not before using your momentum and weight to push the bastard sword about two thirds of the way into the meat. Cutting through the plagiopatagium your blade slows your fall until you run out of wing to cut and your blade reaches the dragon’s chest, where the change in density and scales dislodges the bastard sword after your weight slowly pulls the sword out with you, as you are unwilling to part with it. This buys you enough time to see that Gorem has scaled the dragon’s tail, holding on with one hand as the other hand used his one remaining axe which he is attempting to use to sever the dragon’s tail. Off Near the keep you see your princess had left it, holding an emerald large enough to be loaded into a trebuchet and used as its payload in a siege. You notice all this before your weight manages to make your bastard sword unstuck from the dragon, tilting before you fall and your thought go to making sure you don’t kill yourself with your own weapon during the landing.
>>
>>46145784
You do not hear the crack of your breaking bones as the dragon wails in pain, but you sure as hell feel your left ankle bend. Looking on the bright side you handled your bastard sword with a grace that not even the strictest of your drill sergeants would have found fault in. Princess Jeanne rushes over to you as you seem to feel the idea of hate telepathically burned into your mind. A red pentagram appears in front of the screaming dragon as you look at it you see a growling horror not meant to be seen on this plane of existence. Your mortal mind finds the horrific visage to the most beautiful thing you have ever seen, filling you with pain that you want more of, before the more primal part of your subconscious, your will to survive censors the unholy terror from your skull. Intangible mist seers out of the laceration in reality blistering and boiling your wound, your mind shuts down as just stares up in the sky shutting out all your sense expect your hearing to the sound of your cooking skin and muscle. Mind broken you lie like this until the crying face of your princess fills your sight. She has whatever the stone is with her, but her light doesn’t reach your ankle.

>[] You got what you came for, the dragon is flightless and will not be able to pursue you if you leave with the princess.

I want our Lady Knight to live dammit! And the "give into despair" bit doesn't endear me to the other option.

I have absolutely no problems with heroic last stands if I think the character won't make it, but not despair fueled ones. Righteous rage and hatred, maybe. Duty and honor, certainly. For faith and to save others, definitely. But not despair.
>>
>>46145809
>[] You got what you came for, the dragon is flightless and will not be able to pursue you if you leave with the princess.

Slaying it will be unoptimal. We can no longer manage our own weight succesfuly, taking away from us the advantage in mobility. Another encounter with it will be suicide. Besides, the dragon is bound to succumb to its wounds.

Also bipolar and OCD. In short, I have about another 12 hours before I have a realistic shot at maybe sleeping. I'll probably finish this well before that.

“You got that thing?”

“It is not a thing it is the god of growth’s- Never mind that, it will save lives.”

“Then let's get out of here.” You say as you stab your sword into the ground and use it to lift yourself up. Jeanne slings you arm over her shoulder and says “What about your friend?”

“I don’t even know him, found ‘im on the hill, he just wants to kill the dragon for some reason. Besides if that can save lives we can't afford to risk killing the people that it would ‘av saved.”

“All right all right, fine. We need to get that look at, can you walk?”
“I can if you don’t drop me.”

“I won’t.”

The two of you make your way towards a side of the cliff not daring to look back lest you look upon that which should not be seen. The sound of the fight rings out from behind you, if this was a conventional battle you could have a good idea what if one side was winning or not, just from the sound, but you were trained for killing bandits or enemy soldiers, not this. As you come to the edge you wonder just how you’re getting down, but before you can voice your concern a blue circle has formed around your feet, picking the two of you up and levitating both of you down the cliff. You look to your princess and she gives you a reassuring smile.

“Did you have any horse around, mine seems to have run off.” Jeanne asks you as you land.

“Couldn’t afford it, I walked.”

“There is an inn not too far that way, we can rest and call a carriage there.”

Something like Knight vs dragon: the aftermath/epilogue practice quest.

I am not sure if I should just run this during to week or wait for the weekend.
>>
>>46148940
The ending was a bit abrupt, but I suspect the calls for you to get some sleep had something to do with it.

I honestly enjoyed the quest, but you might want to put a more eye-catching image to open the thread. It might attract more players. Keep in mind all quests have a rough start especially if you're a relatively unknown QM on /tg/, and your player-base will most likely be a fair bit smaller after the first couple threads, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. Smaller quests do tend to be more... comfy, I guess. Less trolls looking to start shit.

Overall, I liked it and look forward to the ending and the actual quest you plan to run.
>>
>>46149434
The parts in which she reminisced of military training and holds it both at a high standard for her physical prowess as well as it being a nightmare. Also the action parts were pretty neat.

I usually like more description in between dialogue, but that's just a preference.

Looking forward to your epilogue and actual quest!

Got some criticism for ya.

The way dialogue is written feels like a script. Just a line, break, another line, break, you get my drift. Breaks the flow of the scene, seems like they ain't talking while doing, but talking and then doing before more talking.

Also, break up the thick paragraphs.

And I'm also seeing a bunch of run-on sentences.
