Recently: You're training for your second Elite 4 match, you watched Robin's own battle and got insight into her fighting style. The Professer announced news about Porygon.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear vote winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just three 1d100s. Sometimes you can get a modifier from circumstances, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever! This is not a video game.

Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

“News about Porygon?”

“That’s right.” Professor Fir takes out your Pokedex and inputs a code. Porygon, or rather, Porygon Z, appears in a flash of light.

“Woah!”

The odd looking Pokemon takes in it’s surroundings, then shyly hides behind you.

“Hey, shy guy,” you bend down and reach out your hand. It cautiously pokes you with it’s nose. This is a lot different than what you expected, given the mouthiness of your Pokedex.

“It turns out when I tried upgrading my old Pokedex, I may have miswrote a few lines of code.” He pops out a disc from a drive you didn’t even know the Pokedex had.

Porygon seems tense. The professor lays down your Pokedex, Porygon nudges it and returns inside. You notice that the professor made a few modifications to it.

He hands you the Pokedex. “Porygon likes to be around technology or inside, otherwise he gets overwhelmed and goes back into the dex,” he explains. “We spent the whole day catching up. He’s built a life in there.”

“I thought he was only in there for a few minutes, from his perspective.”

He shakes his head. “No. He’s been in there for years. He just depended on the internal clock to know what time it was. He’s smart, but Porygon think in a very alien way. They have trouble telling the passage of time by themselves. I believe it’s due to the digital nature of-” He stops himself. “Sorry, I don’t want to keep you all night. You have your match tomorrow.”

You look at the Pokedex. “Aren’t you going to, y’know, keep him?”

He gives you a sweet smile. “Well, I was actually wondering if you’d want to hold onto him, at least until your journey is complete.”

>>
>>46145869
Wait, is it Porygon 2 or Z?
>>
>>46145869
You’re surprised. “How come?”

“Well, I wouldn’t feel right taking your Pokedex away. Especially when you’ve had it for the whole journey. And I think he’s enjoyed his time. I understand you’ve shown him all sorts of Pokemon, and he feels like you’re friends. In the mean time, I’ll have my team creating a virtual machine to emulate what’s inside of the dex. Then we can transfer him over, and you can keep the real Pokedex.”

“What about the six Pokemon limit?”

“Oh, don’t worry about that. I’ve already put in the paperwork for Porygon to be registered as a scientific study Pokemon. As long as you don’t use Porygon for battle, he won’t count against the limit. The only thing is I’d have to register you as one of my assistants.”

"But, are you okay with that? I mean, it's been a long time."

He puts a hand on your shoulder. "Porygon and I are in a good place. Mostly. But it's clear to me that he's grown, too. I miss him. I miss him a lot. But the best thing I can do to make up for lost time is make sure he's comfortable and well taken care of. I want to give him a better environment that that old Pokedex, but I don't want to rip him out of his home, either. A virtual machine is the perfect way to do that."

>Okay. You’ll look after Porygon for now. All you have to do is hold onto the Pokedex, right?
>That’s alright. He should just take the dex.

Now I can only hope that Porygon Z will want to join us as a full team member at some later point.
Maybe it will jump out and save us while we are fighting Team Imperium and enjoy battling with us or something.

As much as I want Best Duck on the team this doesn't feel like a good time to ask.
It would be better if Porygon wanted to join us on it's own.
>>
“Sure, I can take care of Porygon for now,” You examine your modified Pokedex. “After all, he’s been giving me helpful information,” you polish the truth, “in his own way.”

He laughs. “Thank you, Kat. I’m hoping I can set up an environment to make the transition easy for him. It’s the least I can do.” You can hear the slight pang of guilt in his voice. “It’ll be good.”

“So, is there anything I need to know?”

He goes over what he did to the Pokedex. It should work just like normal, but you can summon Porygon Z out by inputting a codeword. He warns you that you don’t want to plug him into any other computers, or initiate radio contact with other devices, as he’ll be able to freely move between them.

“Well,” he pats you on the back. “I really appreciate this.” He walks away. “Good luck tomorrow.”

“Wait. I have a confession.”

“Gah! You’re no fun,” Dark Kat says, suddenly appearing behind you. You pretend you don’t see her, like you’re a sane person.

He pauses, then turns around. “Oh?”

You take out a small sum from your pocket. It’s well over double the amount you stole, but since you’ve come into money, it seems like a such a tiny sum. It weighs a lot on you, though. “I...,” you swallow. He just entrusted you with something dear to him a second ago. “I stole your wallet when I first came to your lab.”

“W-what?” He’s genuinely shocked. You just assumed he somehow knew.

“I’m sorry. It was a dumb mistake.”

He puts his hand on his wallet pocket without thinking about it. “Oh. I remember now. I found it in my mailbox. So that was you...”

His voice is so disappointed. It hurts. “Yeah. Again. I’m really sorry. Here,” you shove the money in his hands. “I don’t remember exactly how much was in there.”

He looks at it awkwardly. “Well, it was a long time ago, I suppose.”

You don’t know what else to say. The wind blows. His eyes fall on the Pokedex, like he’s rethinking his decision. No, that’s just your imagination, right? He’s an easy going guy. Right? Dark Kat just stands behind him. She doesn’t need to say anything.

He forces a laugh. “Well, like I said. That was a long time ago. I obviously didn’t even miss it, so no harm done, right?” He’s obviously trying not to make you feel bad. “Don’t worry about it.” He walks away.

You go back up into the hotel. You thought that’d be like lifting a weight off your shoulders, but instead it’s like reopening a wound.

You plop onto your bed. After Robin prods you enough, you tell her what happened. She tries to reassure you and cuddles you to sleep.

The next morning you put your mind to the task at hand. You have a battle to win against Emma, the Elite 4 Ice master. You know the route to the arena and the process by heart. You and your friends get there, just like every time before, and you stand outside the battlers-only area. You get your usual good luck remarks. You give your usual responses.

You walk out. The crowd erupts and cheers. There are a few fan signs with different pictures of you and your Pokemon on them. You look at the clock and see you have a few minutes before the match starts. Emma is on the other side of the arena, waving to the crowd.

Hmmm.
Well obviously we have to refund him at some point.
>>
You smile and wave. You don’t want to give too much away about your Pokemon. Sure, Emma probably knows a lot, but you shouldn’t get cocky.

Before the time runs completely out, you head over and say hi.

Emma shakes your hand. “I knew you’d make it here,” she tells you. “I’m psyched for this match.”

“Thanks!” Her passion is infectious. “I’m starting to feel it too.”

“Starting to?” She teases, clearly knowing what you meant. “I’m going to tell you now though, this won’t be as easy as when we fought before.”

You don’t remember it being exactly easy, despite you winning. Then again, Devon was against her Abomasnow in a one-on-one battle.

She puts a hand around your shoulder and waves to the crowd. You wave with her.

“Thanks for Robin’s eye.”

She shakes you a bit a rubs your arm. “Come on. That was no big deal. I'm a doctor, it’s what we do.”

“Well, it was a big deal to me.”

She just shakes you some more and waves. You wave with her. Then she takes her arm from off your shoulder. “Regardless of how this match goes, let’s have some drinks together after. My treat.”

“Sounds good,” you crush the urge to point out that you’re underage. You’re not sure if she doesn’t care or doesn’t know. “Good luck.”

“You too!”

You both take your places. Emma is the coolest adult you know. This’ll be fun.

You put your head in the game as the timer starts ticking down. She’s got a hand on a Pokeball. You figure from her body language that she’ll throw at the last second. Her battle style is to hold back and decide what to do in reaction to her opponents.

You reach for your first Pokeball

“Nibbles, let’s go!”

On the other side, Emma has chosen Mamoswine. It looks massive. Larger than your average Mamoswine. It stomps its feet and leaps left to right to warm up.

Nibbles stomps and lowers his head. If there’s one thing he likes, it’s fighting a larger opponent.

You scan over the arena. It’s got a shallow pond in the center, and two earth paths on either side. The pond itself is dotted with a few large rock formations just barely large enough for cover Nibbles, but also sparse enough to be able to fight between them without having his movement be restricted. There’s a lot that you can do here.

“Nibbles! Use Stealth Rock!”

Nibbles looks up and around at the crowd. He’s never seen this many people before. Cameras and advertisements flash their lights. He opens his mouth and eyes widely.

Mamoswine uses Stone Edge on one of the earth paths. It collapses into the pond. It’s not too deep, but anyone running across it would be slowed a lot.

With the noise and the crowd and the lights, Nibbles ends up using Stealth Rock on your own side. He immediately knows he messed up, and shakes his head. He’s here at the Elite four and he’s blowing it.

“In an odd move, Kat’s Tyrantrum has used Stealth Rock on her own side.”

“Indeed Chip. I believe what we’re seeing here is some sort of advanced strategy.”

Crap. This is bad.

Nibbles is especially trained to be able to tank entry hazards, though. If you order it, he can spend some time stomping out the majority of those. It’d give Emma time to do something else, though.

>Have Nibbles stomp out the Stealth Rocks, he’ll take minimal damage
>Dragon Dance!
>Use Rock Slide to create a new path
>Charge over the remain path and use Crunch
>Charge over the remain path and use Fire Fang

“Mamoswine! Icicle Spear!”

Two ice spears sail across the distance of the arena. The first grazes Nibbles. Th second hits, but not particularly hard. It is Super Effective, though.

“Nibbles, Stealth Rock again! You can do it!”

Nibbles is bolstered by your show of faith. He launches a series of Stealth Rocks onto the opponent’s side.

“Now the entire arena is covered in Stealth Rock.”

“That’s right Chip. Is this all part of Kat’s strategy, or was the first time just a mistake?”

“Only time will tell. Speaking of strategies, it looks like Emma is keeping her distance.”

They’re right. She’s staying back and pecking at you. Could she be trying to lure you over the one remaining path as a trap?

You think about your options. Nibbles can still tank most of the Stealth Rocks on your side, clearing it for your other Pokemon. He could also use Rock Slide to make a new path over the water to close the distance without taking the path. The other option is to just rush over the path anyway, and use a move like Crunch on Mamoswine.

Or, maybe you can turn her strategy against her. If Nibbles hides behind one of the larger rocks and uses Earthquake, she’ll have to come after him. It’s not like Mamoswine can fly. Plus there are enough stray Stealth Rocks that she might trigger one of the oddly placed ones on your side, since those were set correctly.

>Tank Stealth Rock out on your side

Emma has her Pokemon use Ice Beam. It strikes Nibbles. It’s Super effective, just like her last ice attack, but it somehow ended up doing less damage. Nibble’s has especially strong Special Defense. Emma had to have noticed the difference in power, too. If she wants to do damage, she’ll probably focus on physical attacks from now on.

“Nibbles, take cover over there and use Earthquake!”

Nibbles dashes to the rock formation with the most overhead cover. It’s not complete, but it’ll take the edge off of anything cover from above. He makes the arena floor shake and a shock wave washes over her Mamoswine. It takes the damage in surprise.

The pond between your side and hers now has a rolling wave. It goes towards her, splashes over a little bit, and comes rolling back to your side. It’s not that big, but with a well timed earthquake, you could send a wave over to one side if you wanted to.

Emma doesn’t seem to like that one bit. She had plans that involved you cross her trapped position. You see a sudden glint of inspiration in her eyes, though. She has her Mamoswine starting going forward. Looks like she’s coming for you.

>Get in another safe Earthquake. Make her pay for every inch
>Get ready and use Crunch when she’s close
>Dive out a little and use Charm to lower it’s attack power

“Nibbles, back a little and to the left. Get ready.”

Nibbles glances back at you and nods. The mature, knowing expression contrasts with his young face and eager eyes.

Here comes Mamoswine. Just as planned. Once he comes around that corner you’ll-

The cover that Nibbles was using comes crashing down on top of him.

“Oh! Mamoswine has used Strength to push the heavy rocks on top of her opponent.”

“A clever move, Chip. And it looks like Nibbles is buried.”

Nibbles wastes no time bursting out of the rubble. Despite taking a heavy blow, he manages to get off a steady roar. Mamoswine turns and flees, getting whipped in the butt with Stealth Rock. It’s not terribly impressive damage, but it’s not terrible either.

“And a clever plan from the challenger as well.”

“That’s right! We’re seeing a stark difference from her last battle. Kat’s changed up the overwhelming strength pattern and is focusing on turnabout moves.”

They leave it unsaid that last time, you were doing much better. Still, Nibbles is hanging in there.

On the way back into Emma’s ball-belt, it triggers her next Pokemon.

>5

A large ice-blue bird Pokemon emerges, sparkling and glorious. It’s voice echoes out sharply.

“Is...is that-”

“Articuno, Chip.”

It’s beautiful, stunning entry is brought to an abrupt halt as Stealth Rocks crash into it. There’s a smoke-filled explosion and obscures it for a second. You’ll need to move quick to take advantage of that surprise.

Articuno shrieks out as the dust clears. It swoops overhead, leaving a trail of sparkling ice flakes.

“This was supposed to be my trump card. But you seem intent on messing up my plans,” she smiles slyly. You can tell that she’s loving every second. “Everyone, meet my friend Articuno.”

You don’t waste time being polite. “Rock Slide!”

Nibbles unleashes an avalanche of heavy stones on the legendary Pokemon, causing it to crash to the ground.

The crowd is stunned. But not as stunned as you are as it gets up and fires what youre pretty sure is Freeze-Dry at Nibbles.

Nibbles spins out from the hit. It’s half from the strength of the legendary’s power, and half from the now slippery ground around his feet. The little bit of splashing water from the pond is ice. Nibbles is stompy though, so you don’t think he’ll slip if he rushes over it.

Both Pokemon are feeling hurt. Nibbles, as per his usual style, is able to take a pretty impressive amount of punishment. He’s also more eager, the tougher his opponent. As the young guy, he’s got a lot to prove.

Nibbles gets to his feet as Articuno flaps the pebbles from it’s wings.

“Amazing endurance displayed by both sides.”

“That’s right, Chip. You have to give it to them. These are both Pokemon that have obviously put in a lot of work to be durable.”

Nibbles shakes off his heavy damage and brings down another crash of rocks. They rain down on Articuno before it can fly out of the way. You watch as if in slow motion as stone after stone pummels it into submission. It’s wings try to struggle, but it stays down.

“Articuno is unable to battle,” The ref announces, keeping a professional tone that’s betrayed by his incredulous face.

“Amazing. Simply amazing!”

Emma looks both surprised and pressed. That was her trump card.

Nibbles runs in place in excitement. Left, right, left, right, he dances. His damaged condition is obvious to everyone but himself. You can’t help but feel the same joy radiating off of him. He just took down a legendary Pokemon all by himself. He roars. It’s not a roar of dominance or triumph, but just happiness. It’s like Devon’s barking. He wants everyone to share in the moment.

[That’s all for tonight, folks. I have like a 12 hour day tomorrow and my GF is nagging me to go to bed. Thanks for coming!]

Thanks for running. Are our pokemon really that strong though?
>>
>>46151583
Nibbles is the best and cutest little thing ever.

Thanks for running.

Thanks for running.

Nibbles a cute.

A CUTE!

God damn it, Carlos.
>>
>>46151583
smut when and next thread when?
>>
>>46151598
Nibbles was pretty much a hard counter.
>>
>>46151583
>Emma looks both surprised and pressed.

Was this supposed to be impressed or pissed? This is probably important.
>>
>>46151583
Thanks for running Gobble!

>Rock type.
>Stealth Rocks
>VS Ice/Flying

Yeah throwing stones in glass houses usually causes them to shatter.
>>
>>46151655
Pressed is a word too, you know. As in hard-pressed, stop pressing me, etc.
>>
>>46151655
Pressed as in it feels like she just got put in a bad situation, she is being pressured by this sudden development. Her trump card just got whomped on by a giant toddler.
>>
Man, I can't wait for Destiny to get a chance to shine.

She's going to blow away the competition with that Shell Smash. Too bad we'll have to wait for the next E4.

We really should train Destiny to use the enhanced speed of shell smash to get better at dodging.
>>
>>46151681
I'm just remembering how Meloetta was able to take on like most of our team, though you do have a point that 4X weaknesses are a big deal.
>>
>>46151735
That was before we trained with a former champion for three months.
And doped up.
>>
>>46151598
[Nibbles is very low on HP, now. He's just oblivious to his own damage most of the time so he doesn't act it. It was also a really good match up for him. Articuno had crazy defence and should have been able to stall out your Pokemon, or failing that, instant-KO them with Sheer Cold, adn recovering with Roost]

>>46151634
[I'm for sure for sure doing the smut this week. I don't know exactly when the next thread is because my job laid people off and my workload got crazy. I'm hoping maybe Tuesday or Wednesday, but that's iffy.]

>>46151655
[Impressed, but concerned and stressed about losing Articuno so quickly. She also had plans that you ruined. From now on she'll avoid taking risks and try to wait for her chance to capitalize on you making a mistake.]
>>
>>46151735
The Burds dont have a BST of 600. They also have generally "specialized" stat distributions. Ice Burd DIES to RAWKS every time.
>>
>>46151758
>but concerned and stressed about losing Articuno so quickly

This is why Entry Hazards are amazing.

>Stall Ice Burd

FUCKING WHAT!?!?!?!!?!

>dat crotch gap
Good lord, is that bit of the dress taped to her ass or what.
I didn't know I needed this.
>>
>>46151794
100 defence, and 125 special defence, plus sheer cold, gobble treats legendaries are extra tough, and roost
>>
>>46151794

Stealth Rock does 50% max hp damage to ice/flying. Couple that with STAB double super effective, and you are looking at 6x base damage.

The fact that it took two attacks at 6x damage to down articuno at half health is insanely high defense.
>>
Jesus christ Stealth rock must be the bane of Emmas existence. It does either 25 or 50% hp of almost all of her pokes.
>>
Shit I hope someone can archive this, I think suptg is down.
>>
>>46151758
Whats Emma's opinion on Stealth Rock?
>>
>>46151887
That's some Primeape level hatred right there.

25% max hp to all of her pokes and 50% max hp to her Trump card.
>>
She's gonna lead with Avalugg. We need tey to one shot it with a Spattack move. It has base defense of 186 so it is tanky as all hell

Otherwise it'll clear the Stealth rocks
>>
>>46151969
Never mid, Nibbles doesn't know any Special Attack moves.

Should have taught him Ancient power, it's a Sp Att Rock move.
>>
>>46151969
I wanted to teach Aria low kick for this, but I think we'll have to do something else instead. Clear rocks and swap into Devon maybe?
>>
>>46152087

Have Aria set up all over Avalugg with power-up punch maybe? Stealth rock has kind of done its job, with the way it absolutely wrecked Articuno.
>>
>>46152087
We taught her low kick though
>>
>>46152162
Woops, thought we hadn't. This'll be fun then. Can't wait to see this thing try to right itself when stuck on its back. Unless, of course, it's what she swapped for Articuno.
>>
>>46152232
Why do that though when we can just by-pass it's def with hypervoice or psychic?
>>
>>46152252
Drama. I like low kick. She'll take our whoops rocks pretty well. We can set up fighting forms on a slow pokemon and maybe even set up power-up punches while it gets up. Because she used a legendary and we need to one-up her immediately. Because I didn't think of the bypass thing. Eh, we'll vote in it.
>>
She probably took out either avalug or glaceon for articuno. Probably Glaceon because her comp not having a way to clear stealth rock is suicide.

Unless she forgot.
