News Report:

Peace talks over the Great Interior Desert have broken down. The nations of Qadrus, Droerus and the Principality of Beskaosia have recalled their ambassadors after Anuncia, Droiqubar and N.O.R.D refused to move their land claims further back from the borders the former. With the I.F. deadline approaching the Security Council has demanded that all non-taskforce military units withdraw from the region in preparation for occupation. In a shocking turn of events Anuncia, Droiqubar and N.O.R.D have formed an alliance and delivered the following ultimatum to the I.F.

>Video Feed

Anuncian Ambassador: “We of the Alliance reject the authority of the International Forum Security Council and formally withdraw ourselves from the Assembly of Nations. The Great Interior Desert is now the sovereign territory of Anuncia, Droiqubar and N.O.R.D. Any attempt to seize the territory by the I.F. is unlawful and will be repelled.”

As of 6 am this morning the combined Peacekeeper task force crossed the borders of Landum and Molvania.

>Video Feed

I.F Spokesman: The desert alliance are nothing more than a bunch of rogue nations who would leverage their military might to expand their territory. This antagonistic behaviour is the kind that led to the Great War. It is the mandate of the Security Council to maintain order and supress any nation that would carve out an empire at the expense of it’s neighbours. The task force will secure the desert and these antagonistic governments will be brought to heel.

((Welcome to the Mecha Mercs Skirmish Campaign.

This is a tactical turn based collective game where each player takes on the role of a mech pilot. As the campaign progresses the players will accumulate a supply of resources which can be used to build up a persistent pool of mechs and equipment, but watch out! If your pilot dies you could lose it all and be forced to start again with an inferior mech.

Right now we are currently in a Hanger thread where the players can talk shop, ask the QM questions and take time to upgrade their mechs before the game progresses.

We are currently not accepting any new players.

A few little patches:

Increased the sensor range on the Squire because there's really no reason for it not to have it at 10.

The penetration the squire's electro pike has been decreased to 16, so as to make it more distinct from the Batman's electro bat.

Decoy drones now have mobility 5 so that they can actually emulate Knight Lite mechs properly.

The last mission made me think a lot about Decoy Drones and how they interacted with other aspects of the game, so I'm putting forth the following clarifications:

Decoy Drones do not trigger mines.

Hacking a Decoy's hightech systems will cause it not to act that turn. All other hack actions will do nothing but the hacking effect will still appear over the drone.

Decoys can perform fake attacks. These attacks are completely convincing but they always miss.

Enemy decoy drones do not necessarily appear as the same unit as their controller.

>buy ambush for elite commando training

"Well guys, personally I'm for the IF continuing their orbital weapons system. It'll mean more work for us, not less. War won't go away, but nations will want to avoid deploying full scale armies. It'll be cheaper, less bloody, to deploy mercenaries like us. Let's just sit on the whole orbital weapons thing."
>>
>>46165862
"Besides, it's not the BIG armies hiring mercs in this desert war, we've only been hired by the little guys because we're more cost effective to bulk out their numbers. Do we really want to remove the deterrent for -big- armies? Mercenary work has only increased, not decreased, as the IF has consolidated power."
>>
>>46165918
"Long story short. Let the IF launch their orbital weapons program, and let's make sure to hire onto any IF occupation contracts for a niiiice, easy, morally sound victory where the invading bullies get the shit pounded out of them from high orbit."
>>
>>46165918

Cable Guy: "I guess that makes sense, but your assuming that the IF will just try to maintain the status quo, a job it was doing fine without orbital weapons... until now that is. Ugh this is way above my pay grade. There's some serious shit going down now and I just hope it doesn't land on us."

--------------------

>>46165827

Cable Guy: "Uh Spare, remember when you were asking me about getting Irving's number? Well uh... I could actually arrange that if you were being serious."

Sergei: "I also happen to know some people who know some people. If you're interested to see how deep the rabbit hole goes... or you could just continue taking money and pulling triggers, no questions asked. Up to you. By the way how long do you plan on keeping me here?"

*nods in solemn agreement*
"Whatever happens, happens.
We are just smallfry bunch of hardasses, its hardly like we can change the actions of a multinational council."
*his eyes get visibly glazed, lost, until he blinks hard, himself again*
"Be the water, formless, calm, cool, peaceful, adaptive and responsive to the whirling tides of the world, taking the path of least resistance, yea, and you may ask, 'what, then, if there is no path?'
*knuck crack*
Make one, with overwhelming, unrelenting force"

I see several paths, none are the easy way, but why make life harder for unjustified causes?
>>46166192
Ah, I have a few more question, Sergei.

Why are you telling us this, what do you seek to gain from telling us?

Why should we believe you?
A cornered and therefore desperate man?
A cornered rat, if you'll pardon the comparison, will do anything to save its tail
>>
>>46166228
Unless Sparebits overules me, I'm buying the Black Market Contract. It's too incredibly useful.

I'd also like to buy the the Advanced Warfare Training if we got the spare credits after the Black Market Contacts.
>>
>>46166313
>Ah, I have a few more question, Sergei.
>Why are you telling us this, what do you seek to gain from telling us?
>Why should we believe you?
>A cornered and therefore desperate man?
>A cornered rat, if you'll pardon the comparison, will do anything to save its tail
"Who cares? What he's telling us is great. The IF securing more control? Forcing the nations of the world to play nice or play dirty by hiring deniable assets like us instead? Fuck. Yes let's have that. An end to large scale warfare just means us contractors get waaaaay more money."
>>
>>46166313
Sergei shrugs

Sergei:"Let's turn that around. What do I have to gain from not telling you this? I have no real loyalty to Zanvra. I'm not gonna endure torture for them. They probably don't care much that I got left behind. As for believing me, well you believe what you want but you guys just took down a giant satellite shooting mech that doesn't need cloud computing. Is the IF having orbital weapons that much of a stretch? As for desperation, well being your prisoner is actually a step up from being stranded in the Protectorate."
>>
>>46166507
"I believe him, I just don't agree with him that the IF should be stopped. Putting an end to large scare warfare just means less colatoral damage to civilians, it doesn't mean warfare will disappear entirely... and I doubt the IF will want to deploy that weapon particularly often, nor on civilian targets, it's not their way with the powers backing them. They'll do something INCREDIBLY flash like drop their orbital ordinance on this desert alliance army concentrations to make their point. So we should just hire onto contracts with them that are unlikely to put us in any major combat zone... you know, defending civilians from raids, helping out with the IF's own lines. No major offenses."
>>
>>46166357
[spoilers]its Sergei and an obvious plot hook but I want to know what he has to benefit from it also[/spoilers]
I can't think of anythingvto do with him but let him go (with a few advil for the pain) myself.

>>46166507

>>
>>46166688

>>
>>46166769
"He'd probably be from one of the nations bordering on north-western Zanvra I think?
>>
>>46166688

Sergei: "I never said the IF needed to be stopped. Hell when I stole the Cognis the I.F. was one of the organisations I considered selling it to. Like you I was just out to make some money."

>>46166724

Sergei: "Multi-national secrets, please. All the big players know most of what I've told you and many others have their suspicions. You guys are just pawns in some big game... like me. So one pawn to another; I guess I just think you deserve know more about who moves you and why."
>>
>>46166769
He could be from Surden Nevik or Neromius, though with his kind of attitude he sound's like he'd be more Neromian. Staoyae if you want to be an islander or like Hetros said: one of the nations around north-western Zanvra.
>>
>>46167192
>Neromius
That's more india/china isn't it? With Zanvra being africa?
>>
>>46165453

I'm afraid I'll have to ask for an inactive spot in here. I think it's an awesome game, and you're doing a great job running it, Cognis, but work will have me out of contact for a few weeks.
>>
>>46167211
There's a difference between a nation's racial, cultural and political inspirations.

Politically Zanvra is based on China, but racially it's people look more like the Malay/Chinese and also African depending on how close to the equator they are. Zanvra is huge so there's room for diversity.

Neromian culture could have some Italian in it since it's a nation of city states. Racially they're meant to be Mongolians on Mega Fauna. Neromius is also a big place.
>>
>>46167434
That's all right. We all have lives. I'll put you as inactive now and make it so all your stuff doesn't get repossessed by the company. It's people that just disappear without warning that annoy me.
>>
Hey bud mind putting quest in the subject next time? Thanks.
>>
>>46167525

Alright. Thanks, Cog. I was gonna buy Suppression Veteran Gunner: Suppression, another Smoke Grenade and an HK Missile with this paycheck. The other 10 can go to the company coffers, or for drinks.
>>
>>46167525
Do you run regularly, and does this mean you might have room?
>>
>>46168058
Missions are on a weekly or bi-weekly basis depending on how busy my life gets.

Hmm... I really can't handle more than 15 active players, but Eisensturm looks like they're gonna go AWOL, Tem hasn't said anything since his first deployment and Bludhawk will be gone for a long while soooo....

Yeah go ahead and join up if you want. Just keep an eye on this thread in case the Commander buys a company asset that makes the starter gear better.
>>
>>46168248
Ok. I'm just kinda poking around a bit at the things.

I'm eyeing some of the mechs - am I reading this right, and there is chassis-specific equipment?

Like, say, could the Errant grab the electro-pike from the Squire, since it has the arm points for it and its made by the same people?
>>
>>46168397
>Like, say, could the Errant grab the electro-pike from the Squire, since it has the arm points for it and its made by the same people?
No, it's broken down as chassis specific, company specific, and universal equipment. There are ways around it, but we've not bought it yet.
>>
>>46166192
>>46166228
>Wait on blackmarket developments, there was talk of getting a program to get new mechs to pilots who lose one

>Sergei
Oh... Are you still here? I was kinda assuming you'd have left by now. You want me to arrange a taxi?
Heh - Look, you're free to go.We'll even throw in some painkillers and get you transport to wherever.

Or you stick around for a bit. I'd like to know the people you know. I'd like to see where this all ends up. Not because I'm desperate to wage war against the entire world, but on the other hand, being a tiny little pawn to some shadow orgnanization doesn't sit too well with me.

>Irving
Thank your, Mr. Kerry. I imagine it is easier to capture an arms dealer over the phone. If you could get us Irvings number, that would be good.
>>
>>46168716
"Why don't we kick this up the chain of command to our bosses in Knight Lite? I'm sure they'd like to hire Sergi and they could use the information about what the IF is planning to use the Desert War resistance to make an example of right?"
>>
>>46168716
>>46168779

Sergei:"Thanks but no thanks. If you're letting me go I've got my own places to be."

Cable Guy: "Well when I said I could get his phone number didn't mean we could just call him up. To contact him we'd have to gain access to the Black Market and that will require a few palms to be greased. I should also warn you that using the Black Market is illegal. Just having the contacts and using it to gain intel won't attract much heat, but if we actually buy anything it could incriminate us down the line."

((Heading off to bed now guys. See tomo... ugh later today and I'll make the relevant updates if you've bought anything.))
>>
>>46169002
"Buy it, better to have the option than not."

"And Sergi, if you're sure that's great. We never saw you, but I still think we should tell our bosses what's going down so they know what to expect. And recommend that we back the IF by not taking on any missions that might endanger their project."
>>
>>46169002
Well, Sergei, I'm not going to shoot you in the kneecaps to stop you. You've been helpful and polite, and there's little reason we cannot part ways amicably.

But I'd like to know who you know. There's blocks of power moving in the night and I'd like to get crushed by brushing up against them.

>Then I think we're in agreement to get the Black Market Connections set up, which is useful.
>This leaves 45 Company Credit available which we could use to acquire a single modernization package to benefit new and old pilots alike
>You know I want nothing but cruise missiles, but if you have a preference for Doctrines, please discuss.

"I'd prefer to buy the defense system for the pioneer team so we can deploy them more often."
>>
>>46169115
as a potential new player, i am most interested in the exo-terra line, and appreciate you guys buying the free-class-choice upgrade. I"m thinking EW specialist!

Why no exo-terra license tree? Black market seems hella useful, and i'm excited to see what random loot falls out of the bag!
>>
>>46169332
We have exoterra, if you're considering a cirrus I recommend the commando class, the speed is VERY handy
>>
>>46166228
Hey, CG, is there a reason we can't keep the older models around? I like the Lord, and the Batman, but these Gavial mechs do have some useful features. None of our current licenses can really replace the role of the artillery mortar, for instance.
>Doctrines presently replace, can we make them add instead?
>>46169115
We could also add the drone reserves and defense grid to our pioneer team. I think at least one of those was earmarked as a desired option a while back.
>>
>>46169582
The chief's assault training is also well suited to cirrus pillots. All depends on how you want to focus your efforts.
>>
>>46169582
Its a tossup between the Stratus and Nimbus, actually.

Stratus has cool synergy, but the nimbus to potential to make enemies not get turns at all.
>>
>>46169653
I think the lack of hardpoints hurts its gun-tottery, I'll take the 5% chance to be hit and there ruling that an artfuldodger cirrus with Def22 ignores crits
>tie that in with the acrabler that forces lockons to roll against def and you can't be hit on a run by anything but a crit20

>>46169689
I asked, two nimbus with overlapping fields do not stack effects

Stratus with a load of swarmers has wrecked our only kia
>>
>>46169948

Nimbus with emp missiles, actually.

For missile based munitions, how does the $$$ situation work? Pay for the system, reloads are free?
>>
>>46169002
Any chance we can get a GP rifle in a similar vein to the mech pistol? Also, are there any plans for ammunition options for slug throwers?
>>
>>46169948
Also, I'm not sure if you noticed, but you can put mechpistols in the torsos. You can fit 2, or 1 with the mobility system.
>>
>>46169994
> reloads for limited ammo weapons are covered under the repair and rearming costs.
>>
>>46170108
Yes, but with the option i'd take a smartgun

>>46169994
That exactly, since they cost more, and the sum of rearm and repair is a flat fraction rate of mech net worth having a lot of missiles will up your rearm cost notably
>>
So any idea how automated aggression and the run action interact with each other? I am having dreams of strafing runs in the Cirrus. Barring that what sort of asset do you think the company needs most right now?
>>
>>46170665
Free actions are free so yes, it's possible to use [Ag] and run in the same turn, just remeber that you'd need to fire before, after, or between your two actions. Oh, and I think you would need a lock on the target, as dumb-firing makes the weapon lose the guided tag.
By assets, do you mean the Company Support Assets? In that case, an Apex license. Which we can't get yet.
Or did you mean in terms of pilots/mechs? Do what seems fun to you, we work with who we have.
>>
>>46170865
Assets as in pilot/mechs combos. I personally would want the LHI license but that like Apex that one is around yet. I'll wait and see what the black market contract gives us before I settle on anything though.
>>
>>46171053

Cluster Rockets. Pioneer team. Vigilance. The enemy cannot advance.
>>
>>46171053

Alright, question for my potential stratus or nimbus - how do I go about acquiring/buying/purchasing my starting mech?

Is there an allottment of cash, or is it literally 'pick a starting 3 and sell it?' or how does it work?
>>
>>46173611
Pick from the starter mechs. You can sell it out at a percentage of the list price. I forget how much.
You also get your first skill advance free.
>>
>>46173669
I was afraid of that. the starter packages are 14-16 depending on mech/combo. Not that great, even at 100% exchange.
>>
>>46173717
It's not too bad. Once you pull off a mission, it should get you pretty close to a new mech. Two missions, tops, unless you get really fancy. Then it's three. Just don't get wrecked and don't invest immediately in expensive rearming like drones.
>>
>>46173669
Speaking of starter mechs, I agree with buying the Black Market Contacts, it's only fair, especially for only 15 creds.

Then, with what remains, there's a few things we can do. First, save up for something cooler next mission. Like the Advanced Warfare Training. Second, buy the Modernization Program, start working up this tree. And third, invest in some Pioneer upgrades. That's pretty situational, however.

>>46165987
Now hang on a second there.

So you really think giving a bunch of guys the power to flatten an army like it's nothing is good idea ?

Once you have that power, it's easy to jump to conclusions, and decide to preemptively fuck the bullies', read : everyone who disagrees with the IF, days. Like, who's going to stop the suits at the IF from doing that once they have a completely autonomous orbital weapon program ?

And it's not like I'm saying this shit because I hate the IF too. But come on, open your eyes, they've become more agressive with their protectorates. Just look how they've resolves the Great Interior Desert conflict.

Also, once they're done with the "bullies", then who's left ? Us, roving bands of heavily armed bands of mercenaries. With no one to need us anymore. Then, all we'll have left to do is disband, or die.

... God, I hate you for forcing to talk politics, I'm going to play on the simulator. I have a cool idea.

>>46165453
>buy the third pilot skill Automated Agression (-30 credits, new balance 24 credits)

>>
>>46169115
As someone who spends their time spitting out lock-ons, the idea of having a cruise missile or two in the wings for a rainy day is rather tempting. But if that's the route we want to go, the Multirole Fighter is a far better long-term investment: you can choose to spend the cred to bring it in after battle has been joined, and it carries 6(!) HK missiles.

As someone who is using Drones and Missiles alot, any investment in the Pinoneer team would be good in my books. These missions are only going to get more involved, and having defensive turrets would go along way to make deploying them aggressively a good idea.

Doctrine wise, I think the Guy-Co CQC Doctrine is best. The Lord's single-shot cannon isn't very rookie-friendly, whereas a giant blast shield goes a long way in helping recruits survive their first battle.

However: I really think we want to be saving some (20?) Cred for the Advanced Training Program. Many of our pilots now have a Veteran skill, and several have already purchased Elite skills as well. A flat bonus to rolls is great, and would help us hit where it counts.

>>46170865
>>46171053
While a lock is necessary for strafing runs, remember both Spare and I have Tac-Net hubs so it need not be you who gets the lock. And I have a sensor range of 16, enough that last time it covered a quarter of the map without moving from my starting location. Basically: Fire at will.

Hey command, how interchangeable are drone controllers? If I own multiple drones but only have room on my mech for two controllers, can I choose which ones I bring at deployment? Or does each drone require more specialized control equipment?

Cable Guy: "Well sir. I've managed to get in contact with Irving, obviously all our communication with him will be remote given past circumstances. He's given us access to a secure website where we can browse his wares."

Irving: "Didn't figure a Commander from Noblesse Oblige would be interested in what I had to offer, or is that why you fought so hard to nab me back in Droerus? No matter. I am a businessman first and foremost. If you're buying I'm selling."

-------------

Irving: "So i hear you've been hankering for some Apex and LHI gear but don't have the license yet, well I can help you a bit there. I just so happened to come into possession of some of their stuff recently.

Feel that your weapons are a bit... inadequate? Well I can get you some specialist ammo that will enhance your guns.

But if you're feeling really naughty I've got some state of the weapons to sell you. You will not find guns like these anywhere on the legal market, the company that makes them sells only to the Peace Keepers... and myself of course. Eh-heh-heh."

Cable Guy: "Those are some sweet guns, but I'd be careful about taking them into battle. If the wrong person recognized what they were..."

Cable Guy: “Well now that we’ve got a full blown war on our hands again there’s no shortage of merc contracts out there. I’ll put up the most relevant ones. First off we’ve got a holding action in the Principality of Beskaosia. Instead of going after their trading partners N.O.R.D has just decided to straight up invade the Principality itself. The Royal Beskaosian military is woefully outnumbered and most strategic projections say they won’t hold out long enough for the I.F. taskforce to push them back.
The second mission is just a straight up clash in the middle of the desert. Molvanian units have gotten bogged down fighting N.O.R.D over an Oasis and need support.

Also before Sergei left he gave me some contact details to certain individuals. He said we could use those contacts to find out more about the Cognis and who made it, but we’ll need to spend some money in order to start gathering info.”

Defend the Principality:
>Fight off multiple waves of conventional enemies. Defend a fortified position, with a higher payout if certain key structures are kept intact. Salvage and mech recovery are possible if the battle is won.

Desert battle around the Oasis.
>Advance on the enemy position and destroy their HQ while protecting your allies. Terrain consists of open paths, the oasis itself and several rock fields. Expect a combined arms force.

Find out more about the Cognis.
>Pay 5 Cred to unlock a special mission. This mission will still be available in the next hanger thread.

Anyway. QUESTIONS about the system.
Does: Automated aggression let you fire any lock-on capable weapon freely, or is it
intended to only let you fire at someone you have an active lock on?

Can automated aggression fire four smartguns with its 2 free actions, since smartguns
have twinlinked and can fire 2 per action?

Can I use the hack action on an ally to command their drones for them if they either don't have the actions or want to solicit some remote aid?

Can you clarify the tacnet for me? Specifically, it allows allies nearby to share target locks. Are you still limited to having 1 active lock? Relatedly,If you use 2 recon drones (which can target lock for you) and each mech/entity/whatever can only maintain a single target lock, does that mean one player would still be limited to 1 lock at a time, or would their spotter drones bring that up to 3 target locks in total, (one per drone plus one for the player, assuming 2 drones?)

Can I use automated aggression to fire my drones smartguns? Do I need to take the drone
control action to do this? (i read it as i can fire any 2 of 'mine')

An action gained for free(such as through a class skill) still counts against a 'you can only use this equipment once each turn, right? So if an EW tech wants to hack multiple times in a turn, they need to bring several pieces of equipment instead of button mashing one?
>>
>>46183826

>Can I use the hack action on an ally to command their drones.

>Can you clarify the tacnet for me?

>Can I use automated aggression to fire my drones smartguns?
No

>An action gained for free(such as through a class skill) still counts against a 'you can only use this equipment once each turn, right?
Yes

As for your starter mech, look at the pic in the second post of this thread, specifically the quick start section. Choose a mech, choose a gun, choose another thing and you're done.

Only now that the company has the modernization program you can also choose the Crocodile as your starter, with either the Laser rifle or the Electro Spike as your first weapon.
>>46165617

You can also now pick the Hunter-Killer Missile, EMP-missile, ECM Pod, Tac-Shield, or Sensor pod as your second piece of equipment. Finally you get ablative armour for free.

>>46185471
>GP rifle.

No. GGA already has a GP rifle option, several other companies have their own general purpose weapons but generally you are supposed to work within the style of the company your mech is from.

>>46185471
Give me a moment...
>>
>>46183826
>Advanced War Rifle
...someone taped two Smartguns together. Half the shots, but double the damage on each and not limited to Exo mechs. I can respect the ingenuity, if not the flagrant abuse of duct-tape. With our Tac-Nets, having auto-hit weapons on our frontliners is always good.

>Depleted Uranium rounds
Now this I like. Lots of us use bullet-spam techniques, and running into mechs with high resistances (most Apex, some Asier, and all LHI) is going to give those people alot of anguish.

>Napalm rounds
This is pretty much where I draw the line. Lets not burn people alive, and maybe if any of us get captured they won't repay in kind.

>Active lock only, and only one free attack action.

is this a nerf from the picture-skill tree that hasn't made its way to the edit?
Just checking, conflicting info.
>>
Okay here it is again.

Buying standard equipment of the black market has very little risk. It's regular gear and nobody needs to know where you got it.

Items marked with the squinting skull icon will get you some raised eyebrows.

DU rounds aren't technically illegal but in a world where radioactive materials are even more regulated than our own one starts to wonder where you got them.

Incendiaries, again not illegal, but it really sucks to be on the receiving end of them and you won't make any friends if you use them, it is also down right illegal to fire them directly at infantry,

Items with the glaring skull are things you are simply NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE. Most people will not recognize Peace Keeper guns since they are so rare but if somebody does, there will be trouble...

>>46185700
>DPU Health issues
Mostly DPU just causes nastiness because it's a heavy metal. Radioactivity doesn't come into it at all (that's what the Depleted means).

>>46185289
>Can you clarify the tacnet for me?
I've been using one for a little while now, I'll go over the differences in how normal locking, recon drones, and Tac-nets work.

Basic: A mech/drone/tank can have 1 lock-on at a time. If you lock-on a new target, you lose the old one. Unless you have equipment with the [Radar] tag (such as a sensor pod), you can only lock on to a target you have line of sight to. You or the target breaking LoS will remove the lock.

Tac-net: every friendly inside your sensor range (including drones) can share the benefit of having a target lock. If one friendly in the bubble has a lock on a particular enemy (no matter where the enemy is), everyone in the bubble gets +2 to hit them and can fire [Lock] weapons for automatic hits.

Recon Drones: each one carries a tiny tac-net: they lock-on and you can use it. If you have one, you can effectively benefit from two locks at a time.

I have a Tac-net, and two Combat Drones with Longbow missile pods. If either of the drones or myself gets a lock, all of us can fire missiles at the target.

What I meant is if you look up how real smoke grenades work it turns out they are actually just incendiaries that are made to belch smoke rather than burn stuff.

Good info. Am I reading the laser rifle right in that it does +2 extra damage when it hits? The damage icon is easy to see, but i'm not sure about the other one. Is that the on-hit indicator?

I'm thinking: Crocodile, laser rifle, emp missile? Any suggestions here? I'd like to start with the ability to hack the planet, but the eccm pod is just straight better. Someone feel like loaning me 4$?
>>
>>46190486
Loaning money comes at a cost similar to selling out an item, so it would be a 75% loss in funds both ways. It would end up costing 6 transferring to you, then you'd have to pay 8 back.

The missiles might cost a chunk of change to rearm but I haven't used missiles.

Crap, I wanted to make purchases based on whether or not certain leg mods functioned.

How does the Thruster Array and Juggernaut leg mods affect Stealth?
Is it possible to stealth at the start of the mission with the Thruster Array?
Is it possible to go back into stealth with the mods?
Does the Juggernaut mod reveal you as you traverse difficult terrain?
Any clarification on that would be great.

No answers on the Juggernaut mods, but:
>Using anything with the jump icon breaks stealth, that includes the mobility bonus. Recon Drones are special. They can fly and still be stealthed. That other stuff involves giant honking rockets strapped to a mech's legs. You can't hide those.

So, yes, you can be stealthed while having the thrusters equipped, but not when you use either benefit they offer. And you start stealthed by default, and could reenter stealth if you meet all the requirements. (No jumping or move bonus, no enemies withing 6range that have LoS, not locked by an enemy, and no enhanced systems shutdown hacks on you at the start of your turn)

And that's it, I've got to stop reading the threads while working on the errata doc. I feel like a rulebook right now.

Hum. So the spacebuck reduction is entirely avoidable by using a barter/trade system instead.

Thats pretty exploitable, but it encourages people to trade items around that are within 1-2 points value equally. Interesting, but kinda derpy.

"I have two questions. Firstly: how likely are guye-co to find out it was us and rescind our license? Secondly: can we please be absolutely, positively, 100% sure that Guye himself is not on site at the time? I hear his personal mech got wrecked once, so he got out and punched the guy who did it to death with his bear hands."
>>
>>46201935
The scary part about that report is that the bear hands is not a typo. He put on his boxing gloves first.

They were actually bears.
>>
>>46201935
Cable Guy: "That's not how corporate warfare works. Much like conflict between nations any grudges are held against the people that ordered the attack rather than the people who carry it out. If Guye-co really decides to take it out on us they're more likely to just hire other mercs to wreck our shit rather than rescind our license. And no Haxton Guye himself will not be on site."

>>46202046
Cable Guy: "Oh please that's just an urban legend!"

>>46201926
Cable Guy: "It'll keep for at least another op, but we can't neglect it forever otherwise Dvorak will just find someone else."
>>
>>46202123
"Then I believe doing the defence op first is the better Idea. I mean, we could prepare ourselves with more cash that way, and we need money first if we want to improve our strength (and survive.)
Plus, assaulting appears to be harder than defence for our corps, we should knock out the 'easier' jobs first if possible.
And I would be really cruddy in my current loadout for an assault mission..."

Some roughish background based on the bits I can gather (could use some more fluff before I finalize anything.) The timeline is vague so I don't know if this really works:
Tragedy hails from Norden Nevik and is half Nevikan, quarter Qadrusan, and quarter Anuncian. She was a student in the Zanvaran territories before conflict destroyed the town she was living in at the time. Struggling to survive for two years, she finally repatriated to Norden Nevik where she joined the military and returned to Zanvara as a "military advisor" in support of separatists.

If nothing else, you may take solace in that Horst has begun to care about most of the pilots, beyond mandatory for civility sake, underneath all that cynicism and physical/mental scar tissue there's a heart.
You've grown on him
like a tumor/fungal infection, as he would muse

Wow this is still alive? Didn't think the thread would last the night. Alright, at some point I'm gonna prepare a proper lore document for you guys.
>>
Is it possible to add traits to weapons by spending credits? Say for instance, a twin linkable spike piston.
>>
>>46219939
No. Not unless you use upgrades or pilot skills that are already presented in the stat sheets.
>>
>>46215522
And obviously we care for Horst as well. We jsut refuse to show it because we're worried he'll laugh at us for showing emotion.
>>
>>46221097
He would, while slinging accusations of homoerotiscism and impotence of will
>>
>>46220066
no custom equipment, thats kinda lame
>>
>>46221235
We're a Merc company, not an advanced arms manufacturing group.
>>
>>46221235
We can get "custom" mechs with a company upgrade that lets us combine mecha parts outside of the normal limitations for double the cost and upkeep.

>>46221235
Try out the black market. They have fancy stuff.

So, how do I tag for my Stratus? And what should I do with my Cobra?

[Stratus]
HP - 12/12
Def 12
ECM 16
Sensor 16
Move 5
--
Armor- Adaptive Camo Plating(+2 Def in Cover)
Torso- Active Scanner(Auto Lock-On for -5 ECM next turn), ECCM Pod(Automatically Counter-Hack Enemies)
Right Arm- Longbow Missiles [RNG: 15, RoF: 1, DMG: 6, Crit: 2, Pen: 19]
Left Arm- Longbow Missiles [RNG: 15, RoF: 1, DMG: 6, Crit: 2, Pen: 19]
Legs- Thruster Array(+1 MOV, Jump?)
>>
>>46223567
Tag, if you mean pilot call sign is just an assortment of abbreviations derived from gear
Tag meaning lockons, is done by calling a lock attempt on an enemy within sensor range and rolling for it
You can keep your cobra, to have a sniper bot for a rainy day or you can sell it at 75℅ of buy value for some fast creds to get more stratus gear
>>
>>46221235
I tell you what: how about I let you spend cred in order to place a giant button labeled: "WIN" in your mech's cockpit. Then when you deploy you just push this button and WIN! It'll have roughly the same effect as what you're asking.

Alright since a number of you have expressed interest in the world setting I have prepared a lore document for those who would like to know more.

It can be found in the player resources google drive, here is the direct link:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1PSLptlTQfT3NtHF2bukXjQ3GuKaMCVdQdUxrYsoEF_0/edit?usp=sharing

While I did prepare a sizable amount of fluff for the setting most of it remains in my head. I will at least finish the section on the major powers and historical timeline before the weekend is over.

I've also enabled comments so feel free to leave some.

Tell me more about Wessen Nevik? I have a feeling that Wechuge and Honeypot are both from there (mostly because of the opinions of the other nations claiming WN to be filled with capitalists and merchants.)
>>
>>46232543
I'm about to go to bed so sorry. I'll finish up the timeline and the fluff on the remaining Neviks by the end of tomor.. ugh today. That should give you all enough information for a general overview of the world.

If this thread is dead. I'll announce the updates on twitter.

>>46233044
I was gonna ask, how do we know when a real mission's gonna take place?

>Horst fits the neromian fold like a glove
>almost like Horst is a template of a neromian.....huh.......
Are the fauna similar to terra or is it more avian/reptilian/amphibian based
I feel like it'd be more common to see lizards basking with cargo on their backs in poor nations given the equatorial climate

>wanna say Horst was a shock commando lizard cavalryman his second tour for the United neromian warcouncil

>When transfering things to company inventory, please write "company inventory" when you fill out the transfer paperwork

Well, then, I will officially join the team before the thread dies!

Thank you for your free pilot subsidy and modernization program! I'll be an EW specialist in a crocodile, and taking a sensor pod for my starting gear.

"Company Inventory - Transfer and install 1 ECM pod"

Here's my mech
==Lo Wang==
[Crocodile]
[CRC-LZ-HP-HP/E]
HP 18/18
Ablative armor
Torso: Sensor Pod, ECM pod(company)
Leftarm: Laser Rifle
Rightarm: Heavy Mech Pistol*2
Legs:

And I believe that makes my callsigninto [CRC-LZ-HP-HP/E]

Happy hunting! Hope I got it all right!
>>
>>46240109
Good news/Bad news time, old boy.
Bad news:Your transfer needs to be signed off by the CO, or 2iC (Sparebits and Hetros, respectively), and also needs to include those two Heavy Pistols
Good News:We like our rooks not to die and to be effective, so one of them will almost certainly sign off on your request.

>Adding to the company inventory is free, taking from requires an ok
>Weapon codes are at pilot discretion, it's the mech and skills that are officially required.
>>
>>46240315
I see! So i guess I'll be starting with the ecm pod if nobody wants to loan me one.

In fact, I should probably do that anyway just in case.
>>
Hey, so I'm back to active status if that's cool. My work decided they weren't going to send me after all.
>>
>>46200927
So wait ? A Guye co combined arms force ? How does that work, are they mounting fists on top of their tanks ?
>>
>>46240624
Don't give me ideas...
>>
>>46240109
Who are you why are you in my cargo bay and why are you trying to steal a crate of highly delicate electronic equipment?
>>
>>46240109
Less joking aside, you did in fact get everything right and you are welcome aboard. I'm also fine with Okaying that transfer.

I do need Mr. Kerry there to finalize your papers, though.
>I can't actually okay the joining of new pilots, it's CognisCommand for that.
>>
>>46241292
>>46240109
Approved

Yen Lo Wang. I see what you did there.

>>46240521
Sure. Eisensturm is still AWOL so I can still handle the current number of players. I'll still let them play if they do come back, but after that I really need to put my foot down.

Also added the entries for the Neviks in the lore document as well as adding a bit more detail to the Neromius entry.

Addition of the timeline will be delayed since I just got put down for work shifts across the weekend.

Quick question. If I tell a drone to do actions on it's own(hack, overwatch, lock-overwatch, ect), do I need to roll for them each turn?

And about the drone control perk, the drone recieves bonuses anything it does as a direct action as long as I ordered it with the drone control action, right? Or do some actions don't recieve the +2 modifier? I need to know.
>>
>>46241794
>do I need to roll for them each turn?
No really. If you do not supply a roll I will roll for you.

> the drone recieves bonuses anything it does as a direct action as long as I ordered it with the drone control action, right?

Yes, as long as it is part of a drone control action. Auto behavior will not get this bonus.
>>
>>46241794
It's like the same bonus for other talents, except the drone gets the +2 to everything that requires a roll I thought?

It's made up for the fact that drones are fragile, instant-gibbed and when they get wrecked you lose your investment+your skill investment+your ability to meaningfully really play.

Which reminds me by the way

>buy Enhanced Drone Control

Teach me Chief.

Teach me to manage this pack of automatons so I may manage my Company.
>>
>>46241902

The Chief hands Spare a pair of grippers.

The Chief: "Start by clenching these 300 times, then report for a 2 hour meditation session out in the desert. Drone management requires a firm grip and clarity of mind."
>>
>>46241902
>>46241979
Sure sounds hard. I'm glad I just slaved my ECM and targeting systems to a program I made.
>>
>>46241979

I'm glad I just went with the Deflection Angles course instead. I just have to wear a helmet when I ride in my mech and that's about it.
>>
>>46241979
Hey command can you explain on how the hedgehog system upgrade works?
>>
>>46241883
>Auto behavior will not get this bonus.
The superior drone AI still applies, right?
>>
>>46242531
Yes

>>46242254
Every turn, if an enemy unit is adjacent to your mech or moves adjacent to your mech, they take 2 damage. This happens once per turn per enemy.
>>
>>46243573
Useful. Thank you Command.
>>
>>46214601
The Ablative Armor I borrowed was molten down by 2 HK and a Longbow Missile, along with my Mech.
>>
>>46241384
[spoilers] if you need some more inspiration on neromius besides Italy, the Celtic clans that later formed Scotland seems to be another 'split peoples, one country' spot to look into[/spoiler]
What about the fauna?
More lizard based or avian or...?
>>
>>46246234
I see. Thank you for your honesty Gunamn. I will note it down.
>>
So I can I get some discussion about the next mission?

Hitting GuyeCo seems pretty reasonable.
>>
>>46253972
Right now the 3C is set to defend the Principality, as this thread is still alive and I have not prepared the mission yet it is still possible for this to change through voting or executive decision.

The Principality Defense mission will involve fighting a massive onslaught of conventional units. Allied NPCs and the option to deploy pioneers will available.
>>
>>46255061
Do we have any intel on force strength or composition at least in rough numbers?
>>
>>46255061

I'm good for the principality mission. My mech is good on the defensive, and I do love fields of salvage...
>>
>>46256212
More salvage means more assets in the future, and a better time in future missions.

And besides, leaving a whole country to hang isn't the 3C way.
>>
>>46256094
No
Because I have not composed the force yet!
>>
>>46257657
Lost my trip
>>
>>46241384
Well spotted. I see that your schwartz is as big as mine.

>>46241131

Hi! I'm numberwang! and that crate of supplies is for my giant robot, Wang. I was told to keep it in my pants, but its too big.

But hey, for reals,, I'm your new EW specialist and that crate was kinda labeled for company use. I'm glad your company had a spare rasberry pod lying around thoguh, cuz what good is a decker that can't deck?

>>46257737
I'm might want to start with the ecm pod anyway, for two - maybe more veteran players can say something here.

14 sensor range and one hack, vs 10 and maybe 2?
Also, does the 75 percent sell cost round up, down, or what?
>>
>>46258550
As a general rule numbers are rounded down.
>>
>>46258838
*Thumbsup*

What happens if a rookie gets shot out of their ride on a mission?(and survives?)
Do you just pick another starter mech and get back to it, or use whatever payout you have to buy another one - or find another line of work if you can't?
>>
>>46259330
If your mech gets wrecked you have options to refurbish it (usually, on missions where salvage is impossible you may lose it), or sell the scrap and buy a new mech.
If you lack the Cred to get a working mech (a frame and one weapon), you can take out a loan to do so. The loan will be paid immediately following your next mission, and if you somehow accrue a debt of 100+ Cred you will have your mech-pilot license revoked and be forced to retire. Also you'll give us a bad rep, so don't do it.
>>
>>46260525
got it - don't die if its avoidable. How is payout handled? Performance, flat rate, bonuses by veterancy, all of the above?
>>
>>46261666
Varies from job to job on payout, but its always equivalent to other pilots before fees for rearm and repair kick in
Rearm and repair is always a flat percentage of the sum total of the deployed mech
If your sweet mech has grade-A gear that kills everything, cool, but odds are those mech killer rifles and missle pods will leave you will less cash than the others.
>>
>>46261764
Oh. So those bespoke engineers are actually really shitty in terms of maintainance. Makes sense. The sell price doesn't though.

Any idea what the percentage is?
>>
>>46261666
>>46261764
>>46261960

Im actually surprised personal kills don't give some sort of bonus pay.
>>
>>46262094
They kinda do. We can salvage the scrap of the dudes we killed, and it then goes straight to the company funds.
>>
>>46262094
Why would I pay you extra for more murder?

You're not an assassin. You're not a murderer. You're not a killler. You're a mercenary, here to do a job, which is mostly a mission with a defined goal some other force have contacted us that they want to get done.

Some sort of murder-bonus creates a twisted incentive structure that rewards reckless behaviour, lack of team play and the glorification of individual duels rather than the team-based approach. It also means that those who run support or intereference are overlooked when it comes to rewards.

And also just don't want to pay you for individual personal kills. Why are you even tracking those?
>>
>>46263270
Arguably an incentive to inflict loss in enemy ranks and promote attrition as a secondary or tertiary objective. It kind of depends on the mission and employer's goals. Just getting the primary may not always be enough. Say, for example, an aggressor nation invades the employer's nation. Simply repelling them would be good enough but if you inflict heavy casualties, it blunts their ability to push forward militarily and, in some cases, politically.
>>
>>46265183
If they come back we get paid a full sortie fee to beat them down again...

try not to argue over economic issues, cognis is having trouble balancing the economy as it is(paying 6-15 pilots as much as we often get paid tends to make small countries bankrupt)
