Black Tides Quest
****
So far in life, you've had good days.
Yesterday was not one of them. After six days of lounging your ass off on a cruise ship, the zombie apocalypse that had been breaking out in major cities (and a large part of why you decided a cruise was a good idea) decided that your ship was a wonderful place to break out. Four hours of Half Life 2: Shitty Beach Chair Edition, and you had managed to batter, brain, and butcher the zombie cruise goers into a pulp that had tried to get between you and the lifebot deck. After stealing one and turning one of the many, many bars on the ship into a Helsinki Breadbasket, you launched off the side of the ship with a smile and a wave.

Now you were loose on the open sea, the old cruise ship had been burning, and you were fairly certain that rescue was a forgone conclusion. That left only one recourse. Piracy on the open seas, in the midst of a zombie apocalypse that was driving civilization to it's knees.

Somewhere deep inside your soul, you plan on having fun with this.

It was a rather short decision to get moving for you- once the whole "rescue" option was taken out of the game, that meant you needed to get to a-vikinging yourself, pronto.

Which apparently meant sit on your ass for a week. Surprise surprise, the luxury lifeboat has NO FUCKING ENGINES. You started life out as a mechanic's kid, so this bone-numbing decision hurts you physicly on a number of levels. Still, you're game, and so you then start to do the next bet thing, which is grab oars and get to all the other lonely lifeboats and scavenge them for supplies and people.

This lasted for all of about a day when you realized that Joe Schmoe was about as genre-savvy as a boot Marine who had forgotten to read his Heinlien, and as such didn't immidiantly scram for the lifeboats when the auto-launched. Thankfully, though, on the eighth day you saw a boat on the horizon.

On the fourteenth day, you reached it. God DAMN, were these cruise ship lifeboats designed to just fucking sit till and wait patiently for Coasties? Either way, you managed to scramble of the side of the ship, and smile.

In a fit of divine comedy, that smile alerted a malnourished zombie that there were customers on deck.

And you still had no crowbar.

Depends entirely on the type of zombie, so we should really find out, instead of running on assumptions.

I mean, what if these are the rare ones that can also wield weapons?
Or the L4D types that have special abilities?
>>
>>46190465

They shamble until they are alerted, at which point the "run" at about 4mph.

And nevermind! Writing!
>>
>Roll: 30

Scrambling around, you see the zombie crawling towards you with fire in it's acursed eyes, wishing to eat you amd your brains...

Waitaminute. It was crawling. On four- no, make that three limbs. Scrabling aroumd, you found a bigass handle for something, some rope, and some four-pound weights. After applying a little Boy Scout injuity to the problem, you proceded to apply your makeshift flail to the zombie's everything. One theraputic beatimg later, you proceded to scrape the now-dead corpse-y thing off the deck and into the drink. Muttering a brief prayer for the poor bastard to sink deep amd not draw the shark from Jaws, you went around the rest of the boat. Small cabin, small forward engine compartment, "flying" bridge, small aft and fore decks.

What a piece of junk. Dear god, it even smelled like herring! Shaking your head, you just sat on a crate and sighed. Descions time...

Sitting down, you stopped to take a breath and let the adrenalyne high wear off. Breath in, breathe out. Breath in-

OH SWEET MERCIFUL HEAVY METAL JESUS FUCKING MARY MAGDALINE IN THE INN, WHAT ON GOD'S ZOMBIE-INFESTED EARTH WAS THAT STENCH!?

After promptly gagging, you tried to pick apart the odur de retch. It was not fun- there was human shit, zombie slime, food waste, fish, more shit, dead seagull the zombie had been snacking on, rotten fruit, and general boat smells. Grabbing a five gallon bucket, you gritted your teeth and got ready to do the thing you hated most.

Cleaning.

The start was with washing off all the shit by dumping water and then ramming it off with a crusty old mop. Next came the ooze and goo the zombie had donated when you splattered him, followed by another run to get the caked-on shit out. That stuff had formed goddammmned layers, geologic in scale. Afterwords, a wash down of the fishing deck and removal of all the bad food ws acomplished, you got into the cabin. The half-dead previous resident hadn't liked it here very much, aparently, as there was less shit-staim to remove. The matress on the bed, however, was fucked.

Once you had things cleaned (read, stripped to sheet metal and scrubbed, you started getting ready for what you needed to do next. There was a lot of things on the list- one would come to you.
