"...And that's how Solars are made." You triumphantly end your little explanation.

Sanaya and Ivana stare art you from the sofa on the other side of the room, looking rather unimpressed.

"That conflicts with the Immaculate teachings." Sanaya points out sweeping away your entire piece with a wave of her hand.

"...Well, I AM a Solar, so, you know, shouldn't I count as a trusted source?" You joke. It's clear that, even if they're no longer openly hostilie to you, that doesn't mean they trust you at all.

"Don't get cocky, Anathema." She stabs at you.

"C-can we please quit the A-word already?" You groan. "I have a name, you know. Call me Maka already."

The fire-aspect sighs, sinking deeper into the sofa. "What are we even DOING? Are we really sitting here calmly listen to an Anathema? what is GOING ON?" She asks to her associate.

Nellens Ivana, in response, just shakes her head.

They both stare at you, now. Some awkward silence passes. You've finished explaining, and they're obviously taking it in, but the next step in the conversation, addressing what happens now that the Realm is obviously going to lose their foothold in the Neck to you in one way or another, is one that neither of them wants to take.

As for yourself, you feel in control. You've been friendly, understanding, persuasive, and you think you've nearly won them over by doing so.

These two Immaculates don't seem like bad people, and don't seem particularly loyal to the Order either. Well, if they were exemplary Monks they wouldn't be here in the Neck, after all.

Now, how should you deliver the last kick to their door?

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. Queen of Gem, now ruling the western island of Tianna. You have gathered a vast amount of allies and friends, and defeated every threat to Tianna up to now.
You recently discovered that Tianna is actually an artificial island, built around a First Age Titan: an almighty flying fortress. Your forces have crushed the Bodhisattva Anointed by Dark Water, a Deathlord who tried to usurp its power for himself.
And now, on the day of your wedding, the Unconquered Sun Himself appeared to you and crowned you Princess of Creation, asking you to be an example for others in these dark times.

>Solar? Zenith? I don't know Exalted...
This quest is as newbie-friendly as possible, and I want it to work as a newbie's intro to Exalted. If you have ANY question, ask in thread. For the setting, google "1d4chan exalted".

>Archive?
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Solar%20Quest

>System?
Dicepool-like system. When performing an action, everyone rolls 1d10 when posting. the first X rolls are considered, where X is equal to attribute + ability.

>XP?
Attributes cost [current score x5] xp. Abilities cost [current score x3] xp, except Zenith costing [(current score x3) -1]. Charms cost 10 xp, except for Zenith-based charms (related to charisma and physical/mental fortitude) which cost 8 xp. At the end of every "session" (thread) you will be presented with a list of possible acquisitions.

"So." You make yourself more comfortable. "How did the two of you end up here in the Neck?"

Sanaya glares at you, but before she can say anything, you continue:

"I understand that it's probably a touchy subject, so if I'm making you uncomfortable, just say so. It's just that... well, you said that you intend to stay in the Neck, so I thought I should at least learn a bit more about you."

She sits there, tense, looking like she's about to spring up from the sofa at any second now, but she doesn't move. Instead, Ivana speaks up in her place:

"The Order... has rules against relationships within its ranks. They're seen as distracting from more spiritual pursuit."

"...Ah, yes, I heard." You nod. "So..."

"So we were sent here as punishment and to keep us from being "a bad influence to others" back at home, yes." In a sudden surge of emotion, Sanaya cuts you off, slamming her fist on the couch's arm rest with a soft yet loud thud. For a moment, you wonder if she's about to set fire to the room...

...but you then realize she's perfectly in control, just... angry.

Ivana gives you a look full of disapproval, evidently blaming you for briefly upsetting Sanaya. Talk about overprotective.

"...I'm sorry for what you had to go through." You attempt to defuse the situation. "Love should never be forbidden."

"What do you know, you whore queen." Sanaya growls at you.

"That was uncalled for." You reply, keeping a calm smile on you. "I just believe in the freedom of love."

...You're about to continue your sentence with a "Let me show you", when your eyes suddenly meet Ivana's again. She's still staring at you. Defensively. Angrily. An arm around Sanaya's shoulders in a protective gesture, trying to shield her from you.

How did that play go, is it a sin to have a heart large enough for the entire world?
We would never steal anyone from anyone, not intentionally, everyone deserves someone.

It's unfair to restrict love like the Order does, love saves people, it saved one Deathlord, it might have saved the Solars before.

At least the realm didn't force them apart.

This is tricky. Feels like helping their relationship will indebt them to us somehow. But maybe it doesn't need helping. Maybe just throw them a life-line. If they ever need help they can come to us. Their relationship with The Realm is already rocky, it might crumble on its own in time.

You smile and avert your eyes, leaving the two dragon-blooded to their moment together.

Ivana is too guarded against a direct attack, it seems. Her stare isn't as angry as it was one second before, but the message is still clear, and is still the same as the very first thing she said to you when you first met her: "don't touch my girlfriend".

You quickly bring the conversation on another track in order to not lose momentum. "So, how does the Satrap of the Neck fit in all this?"

It's a subject they'll have a bit to talk about, and in which you won't have anything to argue or disagree on.

"Sesus Chido? He's just a chump. And I'm not even saying this because he's a mortal. He's just... he's like Fokuf light." Sanaya brushes him off.

"Fokuf light?" You think that must be some sort of Realm figure of speech that you don't quite get.

"He's someone who is incompetent enough to not threaten anyone, just barely competent enough to be trusted to not gouge his eyes out with a brush, and has the ability to keep a chair technically occupied without causing a power vacuum." The fire-aspect explains. "I'm sure you noticed, by now, that the Realm doesn't hold the Neck in particularly high esteem."

You let the conversation go on, saying a few lines to keep it lively, but they get some stuff off their chests without saying anything particularly new or shocking, leaving you time to think.

How should you proceed from here?

We don't need to actually DO anything to seduce people; we just need Be there once they know the option's on the table. The longer we use the hands-off approach, the more they'll want our hands on.

The fact that using it as a go-to has pigeonholed so many people's default course of action to "fuck it" is a pretty damn negative consequence from a roleplaying perspective.

It's still an unfortunate consequence. We should spread love, not monopolize it.
>>
>>46221397

>>

>>

Are we even reading the same quest?
This is exactly the sort of sex-obsessed decision making that led to the shitstorm around the Orgy.
>>

>>46221447
Yes, but we have consistently been a bit flexible with that doctrine in regards to sex.
It's hypocrisy, but it's consistent hypocrisy.
>>
>>46221414
How are we monopolizing love? People are going to fall in love with Maka regardless of what she does, simply from existing.
>>46221447
There is a difference between actively killing or manipulating deaths out of malice or callousness and a mortal deciding to end himself due his own inferiority.

If Maka knew he was going to suicide, she would have stopped him and talked (or fucked) him out of it, would have helped him recover his joy. She didn't want anyone to die, but there was nothing she could do.
>>
>>46221466
I didn't say "tear apart", thank you very much.

Nor is Sammy and flame even a remotely comparable example; given how this one is heavily preestablished and solid, whereas SxF required a whole lot of Maka intervention to bring about in the first place.

>>46221481
>We've been a bit flexible in doctrine

Dignity: the state or quality of being worthy of honor or respect. A composed or serious manner or style. Bearing, conduct, or speech indicative of self-respect or appreciation of the formality or gravity of an occasion or situation.

I can keep looking up definitions on Google for you if you like, but really you could have done that yourself. Dignity, as it applies to us, is found in NOT using our most mighty power at an inappropriate time, and respecting the independence of these two lovers. Ingratiating Maka into their sex life is an asshole, piggish move in my opinion, and it continues the trend of shallowing down her depth as a character.

>>
As the perfectly normal conversation goes on, you allow yourself to relax a bit on the comfortable stuffed couch you're sitting in.

Directly in front of the other sofa, on the opposite side of the small table, where Ivana and Sanaya are.

You stretch and let the first button of your already-tight corset come undone. You lean sideways. You smile. And you wait.

[HUSBAND-SEDUCING DEMON DANCE]
[ROSE-LIPPED SEDUCTION STYLE]
[S+Z=3 8 7 6 1 9 8 3 1 7 9 9 = 7 successes]

After a few minutes of back and forth, the conversation dies down, bit by bit, their eyes lured to you.

In the silence, after a few seconds that feel as long as minutes, Ivana gently lets go of her arm around Sanaya and stands up from the couch.

She walks around the table...

Leans down on you, her long braid brushing on your skin...

And buttons your corset back up.

"Come outside with me a second." She whispers in your ear.

And then, she walks out of the room. "I'm showing our guest where the bathroom is, Sanaya." The Fire-aspect was so distracted trying to undress you with her eyes that Ivana's voice startles her. She looks left and right with a confused look on her face.

>Follow her outside.
>"I'm alright, thanks."

I meant that while we do indeed overall follow the philosophy of "Don''t be a gigantic cunt like the First Age Solars this time around", sex has continuously grey area for us. Even after the orgy indecent where we cleaned up our act some, it's still been an area where we haven't been perfect in living up to our ideals.
Maka isn't perfect, and she REALLY likes sex. She doesn't use it in every situation, but she has tried to use it whenever possible, even if doing so makes her a "gigantic cunt like the First Age Solars" in certain circumstances.
>>
>>46221558
>"I'm alright, thanks."

>>46221594
Both charms increase social damage, not successes.
They make social influence more effective and powerful if the roll beats the target's mental defense, but don't improve the attack's chance of success itself.

It gives you a bigger social sword that deals more social damage but doesn't make it more accurate.

...And yes I realize how hilariously suggestive "social sword" sounds like.

We can also be a total whore-slut when we want.
Sometimes, when we roll high enough we can even be both at once.

>>
>>46221707
Having good manners and looking regal is not all it takes to have dignity. Dignity requires some self-control and recognizing that what we want is not the most important thing. "We're only slutty when we want to be" is not an achievement worth any credit at all.

As long as the people respect us, we act serious when we need to, and approach situations with the level of gravitas they deserve, we're plenty dignified even if we also act like a slut.

You stand up and follow her outside, while Sanaya is still a bit confused by what's going on.

As soon as you're out of the room, Ivana grabs you and pins you to the wall.

She lets go of you.

"Well, then stop, because I and Sanaya don't like you. We barely tolerate you. Don't overstep it."

You straighten your wrinkled robe and adjust your corset, and Ivana glares at you again.

"...you're pretty damn beautiful, I'll admit." She groans. "And not in the pure, fairy-princess-out-of-a-picture-book way. I want to do things to you. I know Sanaya wants, too. She's... firey. No pun intended."

You giggle politely.

"But we're engaged. And it means a lot to us. I don't have anything against threesomes or casual sex with consenting strangers on principle. And your sex life is none of my business. I'm hardly the sort of person who should dispense advice on morality anyway, considering I chose pursuit of a personal relationship over my religious duties." She continues, clearly taking a load off her chest in the process. "But do you remember what I said to you when we met?"

"...That you'd kill me if I touched Sanaya." You remember all too well.

She forces herself to smile. "Now you'll keep your corset buttoned up, you'll head back in that room, you'll make ten minutes more of small talk with me and Sanaya, you'll forget what happened just now in this corridor, and then we can say goodbye and you'll go back home and we'll call it a night."

You nod.

"Or you can try me and we'll both find out how badly this can end together. I'm a Nellens. I've got nothing to lose."

You nod.

She opens the door.

Well Exalted faeries are pretty.... On the surface at least.
>>
Under Ivana's strict supervision, you head back in and act like you just had to take a bathroom break.

You make ten minutes more of idle conversation with them. Sanaya seems more relaxed and at ease. You talk about the shops downtown, about what you know about Skullstone, about how you met Tia and Amata.

When it's time, you say goodbye, thank them for their hospitality, and bow out.

Sanaya is definitely more talkative and less hostile and guarded against you now than she ever was before. You wouldn't call her friendly just yet, but she seems to be at the point where she'd give you the benefit of the doubt. Where she starts seeing you as a human, rather than as a demon.

From time to time, however, she still gave you odd looks. Odd looks that Ivana gently interrupted, from time to time, by prodding her with an elbow.

As for Ivana, she's the one accompanying you outside the shrine. She doesn't say anything.

>There's nothing to say.
>Thank her for being understanding.
>Thank her, mention that you you'd like to meet again in the future.
>Ask her what she's going to do now.

I'm not going to say that's only a problem for mortals, but we don't have to be constantly walking on eggshells especially around other Exalted.

And also, don't confuse damaging people with just rolling dice against them it's more with what we ask them to do. Whether or not that applies to this situation is in the past now that we're moving on though. Please.

"...thank you." You say to her, before parting ways, on the steps of the shrine.

"For what?" She wonders.

"For being so understanding."

"It's not me being understanding, It's you being dumb." She replies, merciless.

"Good one." You grin. "If... if you'll ever want to come to Tianna and visit or stay, you'll be welcome."

"Our job is to stay here in the Neck."

"We could host your wedding."

That takes her by surprise. A few seconds pass by with her struggling for an appropriate reply.

Finally:

"...I- we'll think about it." She turns about and returns inside.

It's late morning by now.You make your way back home.

As you turn the corner and arrive in front of your mansion's gates, you're met with the unexpected sight of Amata and Erman sparring in the garden, cheered on by the soldiers taking a break.
Clad in uncharacteristic leather armor, Amata traded her blue jade daiklave for a simple sword, identical to the one Erman has, and they seem set up to fight in a fencing duel more than an actual spar, actually.

You stand by and watch a couple of exchanges. Erman is giving his best, but it's hard to tell how serious Amata is. She feels like she's not holding back either, despite obviously not using charms, but is she really?

She is suddenly distracted by your appearance, behind Erman (who is fighting with his back to the gate), and takes a hit on the right shoulder as the mercenary strikes at her, lightning-fast.

"Sorry to interrupt you." You walk in, and the soldiers move aside and both contestants lower their weapons.

"Maka! No, not at all." She starts removing her gloves after handing the sword to a soldier. "How did it go?"

You nod at Erman walking by him, just as he turns around and informs the soldiers that their break is over, and walk with Amata into the mansion.

"it went okay, I guess." You reply, noncommittal.

That's when Tia appears from nowhere and does her usual ramming tackle hug of you. Fortunately, you're ready for her and manage to grab her in time.

"Maka!"

"...Hi, Tia."

"...It's okay." She suddenly says, wrapping her arms around you in a hug from behind. "Don't be upset."

Her reaction puzzles Amata as well. "...Tia?"

"...What's up, Tia?" You ask her.

"Are you mad?" She replies with a question.

"...I'm not mad." You sigh. "Or maybe I am." You think about it. "I'm- maybe I'm just a bit frustrated. it didn't go exactly how I was expecting and I can't shake the feeling that it's because I did something wrong, but it didn't go as badly as it could've either. Maybe I'm still upset over Gem and can't focus right."

"Well, I hope you're not too depressed to deal with people." Amata holds up an opened envelope. "Because you got yourself an appointment."

It takes you a few seconds to realize what she's talking about. "Bua Shing?"

"Yep. He said he'll be coming over tonight to "discuss" things with you." She airquotes. "Whatever went wrong this morning, then, you'll have a chance to do right tonight."

To expand on this, the best mortal ever is only going to have 3s in all his stats, so a DicePool of 6 and Social Damage of 3 plus extra successes.

With a Social Soak of 6 he needs to do 7 Damage to get past our soak, that means 3 plus 4 extra successes so he needs 9 Successes on a dicepool of 6.

Good luck with that.

Exalts are coming into play somewhat and they're just going to get more common as we progress, increasing the likelihood of a social juggernaut exalt.

Mortals have never been the reason to buy Charms.

Not him, but I hoped for full nude.

This thread is proof we need more successes

Sure, but at the very least that's still going to be in a little bit longer, for know we have Bua Shing to lewd, then Erman to convince to stay on with us forever, and then we have our trip down to Gem. More than enough time to collect enough XP for THM

Someone used my post as a prompt!
I like it! Good title at the end, too.

But we're going to make her and Tia Heart shaped waffles, she can't bully us for that, right?

Maka finally meets her Social Combat equal

So who else wants Tia to fuck Maka from behind as she cooks waffles? Seems like a good way to relax.

>using a little MA
I kinda like the idea of Maka learning from her mom and Karas learning swording from their Dad
>>

I prefer the idea of mamma's boy Karas and daddy's girl Maka.
But I supose those two ideas aren't incompatible, with swording and punching being how they bonded with the parent they weren't as close to.
