It's been a while. Let's have an evogame. For those who don't know what that is, the rules are simple.

• Open an image of a species in MS Paint, or your editor of choice
• Make one evolutionary change to that species. Please use pencil or binary tools.
• Save as .PNG!
• Post your new species in the thread with a description of the change you've made.
• Adding size increments or new names is optional, but would be appreciated.

This game is taking place in the ocean waters surrounding a small chain of volcanic islands. Now lets get onto the starting species.

First up, the Neoro. This fish-like creature is an omnivore. They typically feed on plants and algae, but will opportunistically go after larvae and other smaller organisms. The nubs alongside its head are external gills, like those of salamander larvae.

More to come.

Now the Bulbous Flouz. It is a major predator in the region. This hermaphroditic species is semi-social, and communicate via light pulses from the red patches. Despite appearances, they are amphibious; living on land and hunting in the sea.

They're blocked off in the picture, but it has four eyes.

And the Foldworem. They are highly mobile muck-feeders, capable of crawling in any contorted position it can find itself in, as well as swimming by undulating its body. They sense the world through their two long feelers and the row of simple eyes running along their backs. They live on both dry land and in the sea.

A distinct offshoot of the Neuro appears, with a highly sensative neck beard that is used to detect small movements along the sea floor which helps it find prey. This neuro is more susceptible to diseases and parasites than its contemporaries, and is markedly more lethargic, and prone to obesity and great difficulty mating. If they mate, the male will tend to die from exhaustion shortly after.

Males who manage to not mate for roughly 30 years become sterile, but also benefit from being significantly larger and more powerful than any other organism in the current seas. A true tyrant, almost magical in their bloated glory, eating all in their path, serving almost no biological function.

The fins eventually became reinforced with strong spines. They also grew a pointed nose for more streamlined swimming. They have an aggresive behavior, devouring toxic prey which led to a larger and more complex digestive system with rocks to grind up food in their stomach due to being unable to chew food. Adults can grow up to 4.9 ft. They suffer from resorting to cannibalism due to previous prey being harder to catch. In addition, they have hairlike extensions to feel the water around them better.
>>
A tectonic shift causes a vent of hot, toxic gases to begin to flood the deep areas. Only toxin resistant helkreubs are able to survive there, forcing a population shift further up of other non resistant helkreubs. The water on this side of the island is inhospitable to plant life, only extremely hardy species can survive here.

Ambush Bzalgae - Thorny Algae attached to Plate Bzols in a symbiotic relationship, toxins protecting them from predators in exchange for feeding upon their host, and they evolved together. The Bzol became rooted, shifting to a Omnivore from the algae developing attractive colors to lure creatures. The algae began growing tentacles to further lure in creatures as hiding spots, some tentacles are eaten by the host Bzol, while others fertilize nearby plant material via waste products. The algae created a space for Bzol young to mature to a stage where algal growths can take hold. Eventually, the two organisms merged on a ceullular level, causing the chitinous shell to be composed highly of plant material, and cells produce chlorophyll. With abundance of energy, its mouth has become semi-vestigial, and the beak made of softer tissue used to inhale small organisms grazing upon its back. It eventually became mobile once more, aided by sensing antennae, and evolved its wiggly legs to become long and spindly, by spreading its algae-chitin shell into a basic exoskeleton around limbs, allowing carrying of its body with ease. And what once were algae-feeding Cerar became colonies of nesting parasites in its algae shells, feeding the dead and dying parts of its bodies, and attacking any who come near its host, and can be expelled from the Bzalgae's body if needed, some seek out creatures in a state of weakness, attack them, and lay almost-mature egg sacks within their remains, protected by remaining Cerars in the hatching Bzalgae.
>>
>>46262842
They became amphibious, and grazed plentiful lichen, and began to show signs of a pack mentality, leaving egg sacks behind in a safe place and began to give live birth to dozen of baby Bzalgae at once, and evolved to eat in packs, moving in marshy wetlands, and laying young underwater, they develop mandibles helping to catch and hold prey, or to tear apart already dead ones. They lie partially submerged in soft earth or underwater, so only tendrils are visible, when an animal comes to close, they leap out and impale them with their legs or expel a swarm of venomous Cerars. These creatures are incredibly aggressive.

They are the 19th generation of Bzols.

Vomit Algae - A 9th generation of Algae. Algae derived from thick ashes clouding its original world, it is covered in a sticky acid, that digests the tissue of other organisms for extra nourishment, and eventually begin latching onto the insides of larger animals, around areas with dense nerve clusters, and tissue similar to its host, and slowly begin to affect its host's nervous system. Eventually, it evolved into a dangerous parasite, burrowing and bonding to a creature's tissues, attaching itself to the nervous system, often influencing the host to overeat to the point of being bloated, and steer it towards danger in hopes of it getting ingested into a larger animal. While its neurons are not powerful enough to control larger creatures, it can simulate an intuition its host will often trust. It eventually developed noxious chemicals to be released to induce violent digestion purge in its host to flush out other organisms disturbing it that aren't well rooted in its host, this chemical became more complicated, the vomiting reflex to spread young and ward off other parasites and predators by detecting signals from the hosts nervous system.

Mutabraf Ferritor Osseum - From an old strain of the Braf, that had a strange ability to incorporate genetic material from digested tissue, while it did not give them the ability to steal traits from other creatures, it did mean that overtime, similar diets over multiple generations resulted in bizarre mutations such as this one. They initially developed light sensitive cells and rudimentary pectoral fins, and those with longer tails displayed a capacity for digging through soft sand, with longer hairs to improve sensory capabilities. Evolving a thicker tail, with hairs that push food into their mouths. A strain of Mutabraf had developed a gastro-intestinal tract capable of filtering Iron, a strand excreting it into its epidermis, where metal form deposits, further mutations caused them to anchor muscular fibres to the iron structures, articulated and acted as an exoskeleton, resulting in more effective digging and easier movement, and larger Mutabrafs with better skeletal articulation being even better at digging, some even pushing into shores in tunnels filled with water, however, due to living in a low-light environment, their photosensitive pits are sealed over their metallic shell and lost. Bahaflouz really utilizes these fluid to move around, to the point where it evolved it arms to aid it in moving as a paddle. Pictured here is the newly evolved Bahaflouz opening its mouth

>>46262127
Some Bahaflouz really loves jumping,. This result in a creature that use its maneuverable arms as a jumping rope, training the creature to jump higher and higher. They could catch the newly developing flying cherub now! However, do not be fooled. The hands on the arms itself were hardened, which it use as to throw unfortunate cherubs with harder shell far far away, in order to break their armor

>>46252227
With its homes slowly evolving to cull their numbers by developing a lot of weird new chemicals, Gellworem evolved its mouth into a proboscis, enabling it to pinpoint its feeding process. However, this result in the creature becoming smaller due to lessened food intake.

In the other hand, some Gellworem instead choose to live out in the plant's leaves, becoming amphibious in the process. Their body thickened and legs grew longer. They use this new body to 'walk' on water, able to travel freely without the constraint of the plant anymore. However, they are easy prey for fishes from below, and thus unless some of them able to 'walk' into actual land, Jalanor is doomed to extinction

>>46248740
Being the lazy animals they are, some neckos try to eat the floating poisonous plant on the sea urface. This result in mass death, but some elder neckos apparently had develop some unheard immunity due to its moronic lifestyle. This sparks a new species called the Neetu which breed asexually, and currently the only fish that could eat those plants. Their head bloated and thickened to weird shapes as a shield from the dangerous chemicals.

>>46245595
Hunter Flooz slowly, very very slowly, learns to pounce its prey instead of running with its strong flobby legs. This demands its body to become more aerodynamic and precise. It also changes its color to intimidate

A genetic mutation has occured causing the Cloros to stick together. These Cloros work together to convert sunlight into glucose. O2 levels on the planet begin to rise extremely fast.

In response to the increasing efficiency of predatory Flouzes, the hardly land neoros - which by being slow and poorly armoured were vulnerable on land - have, by natural selection and resultant evolution, developed a row of spines along their backs to protect them from predators. They are opportunistic omnivores which will eat most things non-poisonous in the shallow coastal water and the beaches.

Natural selection favours land kerubs which cover their long claws with firehrass poison.

The emergence of his behaviour is accelarated by increased competition by other kerubs and predation by flouzes.

Im working this when the image limir is reached, so you can see it here
http://imgur.com/LpgxxOw

On the leftmost, is the evolution of >>46265792 SInce moving tentacles were a huge success for the creature, it began to grow and grow more of them. These tentacles are also now able to slowly photosynthesis on their own, giving it more eating capabilities

Center, is the evolution of >>46265605
Where the creature now learns about the importance of segmentation, enabling it to move even more freely thanbefore. Its spike also grows more rapidly

The last one, the one on the left, is of course the evolution of>>46264673 where it realizes that mimicking something, wont work if you try to imitate some wimp fish. It now have triangle diameter for its body, giving it more speed, and the posture of Aduneros, giving it some more respect.

Should we create a follow-up thread, or let this one die?
>>
>>46266713
I really want to, but I dont know if there are enough people to keep bumping the next one during critical hours.. But if we really were going to do it, then I sugest to start it off with the most updated gen chart akin to this>>46261300

Im not a regular here at /tg/ so to be able to enjoy this one with yall were really fun. Thanks for making this one, and if there's a new one I'll probably hang around too
>>
>>46248845
Shit nig that's looks like a pocket monster, I'll trade you a raichu fo that shis
>>
>>46266838
Well, I'd rather let OP do it. Not so much the bystander syndrome as much as the fact that he his the one who ought to decide for his thread.
>>
Is this continuation to Primordial? A lot of those starter creatures seem awfully familiar.
>>
These are pretty cute. :3
>>
>>46266713
New thread please OP
>>
Remember when evo games were huge and at least one went long enough that its creatures reached sapience and it turned into a weird version of a civ game?
>>
>>46270342
I'm going to make an Evo and Civ General.
>>
>>46270596
Please no
An evo thread where there's nothing to evolve will quickly either become shitposting or die
>>
>>46270679
The Civ General went fine, it'll allow discussion of Civs and Generals.
>>
>>46270709
Okay Anon, if you say so
>>
>>46269524
>>46266713
I'd like a new thread.
>>
>>46270342
This evo game seems to actually take place in the world one of those older ones. Namely, the world of Primordial. The starter creatures of this thread are almost straight up from that game.
>>
>>46271157
Almost anon.. most of these critters were only similar in general shape or name only. You gotta let go of the past.

Maybe this could be, y'know.. Primordial Revisited?
>>
New thread, OP?

You could add some climate events in the OP if you wanted.
>>
>>46270342
yes
>>
Would it be a real dickish move for someone to takeover? But or course, before it we need to set up some ground rules yknow. For starters, the new thread will continue this lax storyline of this nameless planet, where lives are just starting to grow and there wont be another weird universe shift with a bunch of weird animal thrown in.. I mean natural disaster;s good, but not some weird wormhole shenanigans

Not saying that I will, I need some serious sleep over here.. just throwing it out there
>>
Just got back from work. I'll get working on some updated charts.

>>46267271
Yes it is, taking place in the early history of Borgas IV. Yesterday marked Primordial's 4 year anniversary.

>>46270596
>>46270679
>>46270709
>>46270740
Common practice has been to use the currently running evogame as the general discussion.

>>46265353

>>
>>46272939
New thread please OP!!!
>>
>>46272939
I made the Civ General and it's about to die, so I'm going to make a Evo and Civ General, to hopefully make civ and evo threads more popular.
>>46266700
I agree.
>>
>>46272939
Thanks OP, now I can fall asleep in peace. Sorry for asking about the whole takeover thing.. My bad.
For suggestions, maybe the new thread could begin with a disaster? Maybe an asteroid that brings up some new landmass and additional budding plant organism, since I kinda thought we are lacking in variety of plants

also, for convenience sake, can we pretend that planktons already exist in the planet? The Cloro line can be handwaved for an entirely different thing maybe
>>
>>46273066
Unless somebody else wants to start it first, I'm updating charts. Or we could just jack >>46273106's general Not really though. That'd be a bad idea and sort of a dick move.
>>
>>46273349
We'll wait for the chart update!
>>
While we had our little downtine here, what are your favorite organism from this thread? And what do you think is the nost underappreciated organism?

I dont want to take sides, but I love the jumping Bahaflouz, since Im able to think up about Bala Bala thanks to thay

Undrrappreciated would be Shellworem, they could like tunnel their way to underground or take residence in other animal remains for variety
>>
>>46273917

My favourite creature would be >>46246924.

I agree that the most underappreciated creature is indeed the Shellworem.
