Stage 117: Thicker than water, but it still runs, even if it's not blood.

You're not entirely certain why Matagama Kiku, your priestess, has asked you to meet Ryuu Nabiki, the mysterious mediation-addicted dragonette who is the third of the potential demigods that comprise her, yourself, and your cousin Hauko; yet here she is. And what's more, is that she is not merely a clan member: she is, in some way, a direct relative of yours. That makes your priestess' reaction to doing this all the more strange, because she seemed certain this meeting was going to cause you immense pain.

You're kind of hoping it's only physical.

There are a lot of disturbing things about this meeting aside from poor Kiku-chan's feelings about it. First, the barrier Ryuu Nabiki has around you both formed more like that of a kami or a youkai, slowly encroaching upon the real world and swallowing the piece of it that you stand with her on. It feels and tastes of Yomi, but it isn't (you have been there, so you would freakin' know). The second is that she has the same blue eyes as you used to, before yours became draconic after Amaterasu-Omikami fixed them. Except that hers aren't particularly reflective, even in the glow of your lightning-filled mouth and scarred chest, or the blue and red glow of your mismatched eyes. Dead eyes, soulless eyes that gaze at you with questions in them. Polished blue slate, beautiful and lifeless. Third, is that she also bears a more than passing resemblance to Ryuu Wakaba, which doesn't seem as coincidental as you'd prefer.

“....it IS you, isn't it, Yorihokura?”

And that's the part that really bothers you. She knows the name given to you by your real mother and father, and uses it in the manner of an older sibling. Her voice is soft and carries some emotion to it, though not nearly as much as you'd expect having met her younger relative for the first time.

Though you suspect that might have something to do with the fact that this place, her barrier, is absolutely crawling with restless spirits. The cat youkai you possess are being driven nuts by the presence of so many ghosts, and you can see them wandering, lost and aimless, save for one at your sister's side, a true ghost, strong enough to manifest a sword and clothing. The same ghost, you suspect, that carried your request to meet Ryuu Nabiki to her. A bodyguard as well, certainly; she or he is ready to attack if you so much as twitch wrong. You think it's a she, but you're not sure; you can't exactly smell them.

But it's Nabiki herself that is the most potentially destructive thing in this Barrier – she crawls with the golden light of destructive potential in your ruby right eye's gaze. Every breath she takes brings a faint golden mist with it, both inhaling and exhaling, as though to approach to close was to risk destruction. Which isn't really surprising – she could be a demigod one day. She might be one already, but you don't think so. She has a simple-seeming katana at her side, turned down and ready to draw.

[] How do you know that name, Nabiki-sama?
[] You can call me Ryukusa, but yes, that's my name.
[] I'm not here for a fight, Ryuu Nabiki – my priestess said I should talk to you.
[] ….are you related to Ryuu Wakaba? Because if so, I have some bad news....
[] There's no need for a Barrier. This isn't really what I look like in person.

Important.

>[] I'm not here for a fight, Ryuu Nabiki – my priestess said I should talk to you.

>[] How do you know that name, Nabiki-sama?

I think Nabiki is related directly to us. Heck, she could be our mother. Or she could be related to one of the other potential reincarnations of Horobi who didn't pass Er Yin's trial.
>>
>>46351442
Nabiki is wood, so she probably isn't our mother, unless there are special circumstances that allow that.

I see no reason why we wouldn't try if given the chance - yet. But I got a feeling this conversation will introduce some obstacles, in one way or another...
>>
[x] I'm not here for a fight, Ryuu Nabiki – my priestess said I should talk to you.
[X] There's no need for a Barrier. This isn't really what I look like in person.
[XX] You can call me Ryukusa, but yes, that's my name.
[XXX] How do you know that name, Nabiki-sama?

You control your urge to lash your tail in agitation – so many questions, so many issues here – and bow politely and slowly. Mostly so that you don't alarm the ghost standing near Nabiki. You'd have a hard time hurting Nabiki herself in any case; Wood dragonettes are incredibly difficult to hurt more than superficially. “I'm not interested in a fight or challenge, Ryuu Nabiki; you really don't need the Barrier up for me.”

“It isn't for you,” she says calmly, though she does slowly turn the katana back over. She leaves her left hand on it though, willing to listen at the very least. She doesn't speak very loudly, but the unnatural silence of the Barrier makes hearing her all too easy.

“Well, you're not seeing what I truly look like while we're in it. That's my only concern really. As for that....yes, that is my name, but please call me Ryukusa. I'm honored to meet you, Ryuu Nabiki.” you bow again, and this time she follows suit. The ghost does not bow, remaining where it is, watchful, a slightly dangerous smile crossing it's white lips. “I am confused though....I only heard that name from my true father very recently. How do you know it, if I may ask?”

Placing her right hand upon her obi, she feels the material of it absently. It's not as much of a nervous habit as it is a thoughtful one. The obi must have been a gift from the person who told her your name. Though Nabiki does relax, that destructiveness of hers doesn't ease in the slightest. “Your mother told me your name, so that if you died, someone could say prayers for you in yomi and they would be heard.”

Well, that's not creepy or anything.
>>
>>46351895
“I can see we're related, somehow. Our....” You stop, because calling Hauko-san 'cousin' doesn't really seem right while you're in front of an actual blood relative. “Our clan-mate Hauko told me about you, but he never mentioned you were related to me.”

“He didn't know. No one alive knows except some of Inari and your mother.” The way she says it is calm, cold almost. She doesn't look you in the eyes either. “I made sure of that.” Her eyes flick around the misty spirits that fill the Barrier. Flick to ~specific~ spirits. “It must be very important for Kiku-sama to have asked you to speak to me.” She lifts her eyes and looks at you directly, and meeting her eyes gives you the urge to shiver and raises the hairs on the back of your neck. There is something very ~wrong~ with Nabiki, something fundamentally flawed in her, and you're not quite sure yet what it is. “Did you need me to kill Oba-san for you?”

….okay, you're not sure yet, but you're pretty damn sure that whatever she is to you, she's also a bit crazy. That ghost of hers is watching you in an awfully careful manner too.

[+] Did you perhaps need to speak to me?
[+] I suspect there may be a trap involved with the kappa....

Her request is more than a little odd. Not just because of the blasé way it was asked, but because she's asking you if you want her to do it. Not as though she were offering her services as an assassin, but more as if she were asking if it was simply something you wanted her to do.

Your nature as a Water dragonette prevents you from giving off the normal cues that someone would give off, but damned if she wouldn't be raising your hackles. It's not just the supernatural elements that are bothering you, it's something about Nabiki herself. “I don't consider it a priority, to be honest. Do you consider it necessary to do so?” She merely shakes her head, seeming no longer concerned by your answer as she lowers her head. You stand several inches taller than she does, but her hair is drawn far back, so she's not hiding her eyes from you per se. “My questions concern a certain kappa, and what it might teach me, what the price it might ask for would be, and maybe whether or not you'd see it as a trap.”

Well, you caught her interest again, at least. Nabiki looks up at you, her expression a little confused. “Does it matter if it might be a trap?” she asks in that soft voice. It bothers you that she phrased the question like that. But you don't let that show on your face. Her bodyguard, on the other hand frowns a little, just enough to let you know she's not responding just to your body language, but to your feelings.
>>
>>46352647
“Well, yes and no. It depends on the kind of trap.” You bow slightly. “Please excuse me, I've been rude. Would you like some tea? To sit down as we speak perhaps?” Nabiki nods absently, and you produce a tatami mat, three cushions, a small table, and the items you would need for tea, except, of course for a fire. The bodyguard ghost does not sit with you, but that isn't to terribly important to you. You can most certainly cope with a ghost using a sword.

Without a sword might be a different matter.

“It also occurs to me....your bodyguard was waiting for me. Were you expecting me to speak to you, or was that something Kiku-chan arranged?” You set a dragon-ball of oolong tea into the pot and superheat the freezing water to boiling instantly. “Also, please calm her, she's really scaring the heaven out of my cats.”

“....Kiku~chan~? Your....cats?” She looks at you curiously, but doesn't seem to see anything unusual or out of the ordinary. Or if she does, she's got better expression control than most Water-dragonettes. She seems at a loss for a moment as you prepare the cups. Finally she pulls the third cushion away from the table and places it almost at the edge of the mat. Her bodyguard 'sniffs' disdainfully, but kneels, though she does not take off her sword. You don't think she could have anyways – it is probably as much a part of her as her robes and hair.
>>
>>46352680
“Kiku-sama has several talismans, as does your adopted sister, that will summon one of my spirits to an appropriate place that I can hear from. They're not something to be used lightly, since there are a finite number of them.” Nabiki accepts the tea you offer her Turning the cup three times before sipping the fresh peach-scented tea. She doesn't comment on it, which is odd, though not particularly rude. Her bodyguard accepts as well, but turns it four times, before sipping it; a faint mist surrounds the cup, and you make a note to destroy it, rather than keep it. “I presume that this is something critical, that she wished me to speak with you about.”

Despite that, she still sounds blasé. Not quite bored....only unconcerned. Perhaps uncaring is a better word.

[Yes] Ask her if she's all right, or if there is something you can do for her.
[XXX] Explain the Mill Pond Demon to her, and your general plan.
[XX] Ask her if she's had any dealings with kappa before herself.
[X] ~Carefully~ ask her what her relation to you is, exactly.
[+] Cautiously ask how she, Kiku and Jinyuu know one another
[+] Explain what Jinyuu and Er Yin learned about the Mill Pond Demon.
[+] Cats. Cats cats cats cats. Cats.

You've never really tried to demonstrate or explain this to anyone, but you lift both your hands and close your eyes, willing the youkai in your aura to manifest a bit. “Cats,” you say simply, as you open your eyes.

You weren't entirely sure what to expect, but the sight of a seven or eight dozen cats sprawled across the table, lying on the tatami mat, draped over your shoulders, filling your lap, sitting on your head and arms, sitting in your cup and absorbing your tea, walking in and out of ~Nowhere~ chasing nothing, playing with their tails, hissing and spitting at spirits and each other, floating in mid-air while sleeping, turing into balls of fluff with eyes, and generally making a raucous fuss of caterwauls, meows, nyans, hisses, snarls, growls, screeches, and otherwise occupying themselves really wasn't it. Mind you, this doesn't include the other few hundred youkai still present around and through your aura.

None of them get anywhere near the ghost.

“Cats,” Nabiki agrees, looking a little astonished, which is the liveliest you've seen her yet, aside from when she was asking about killing Oba-san. You let them fade back into your aura and Nabiki glances at her bodyguard, who looks annoyed and embarrassed, and turns her attention to the mat before her. It has the intended effect of calming the cat youkai down somewhat, which is really what you wanted.

“Nabiki-sama-” you start but she shakes her head, already the astonishment fading from her expression.
>>
>>46353915
“I am your elder half sister on your father's side. You may call me onee-chan if you want.” Unfortunately it seems discomfiting to have her say that, because she sounds entirely uninterested in what you call her. That lack of interest, that intense....ennui, she seems preoccupied with makes it a little weird for her to asked to be called so familiarly.

But you are trained and raised to do the hard things. “Thank you onee-chan. Yet, you seem troubled. Please, is there something this small dragon may do for you, to make you comfortable or more at ease?” You are earnest; this isn't some rote or politeness on your part. She might be a complete stranger in most ways, but she's still your sister, your real and for true sister by blood. Older, yes, probably much older, but still YOUR sister.

She looks down at her tea for a moment, and you wait, this preoccupation not entirely of the same caliber as her previous ones. “When I met Er Yin, much as you have, I was already close to my mikoto.” You wait patiently, for it takes some moments before she starts again. “I was a student with Hinata for some time. It was necessary, because I'd suffered what is called meditation sickness while I was becoming....coming into my power. A number of miko were gathered so Hinata could perform an exorcism upon me. But....”

She gestures, and the spirits within her barrier are now all around your table, their attention totally focused upon your meeting, unmoving, their presence making your scales stand up and your skin crawl, your hair writhing, rather than floating in the air. “The exorcism couldn't divest me of my mikoto, my kimoto. I was part of the Forest already, my isolation and the poison filling me until I was an empty vessel. Yomi filled me, as nothing else could. Their curse is my life, my life, their sole comfort.”

The oppressive presence of the spirits of the dead and the never alive and the corrupted kami of the trees of Aokigahara swells through the Barrier on an unseen tide. Your aura sparks and shifts under that massive presence....but you aren't afraid, nor are you worried. The cat youkai aren't afraid either – they're presence now surrounds you, a barrier against the pervasive spirits. That doesn't stop your skin from crawling with the potency of their regard, though.

“When I met Er Yin, the fires showed her the truth. I could not become Ame-no-Horobi-no-Mikado. The well of my soul was poisoned, and I did not care. I do not care. Nothing matters, because all is death, in the end. The emptiness of Yomi fills me, and all that remains is for the end to come so that the spirits might be unleashed upon those who have forgotten what it means to be truly alive.” Her voice is soft, calm, and without regret. “The truth was, that I had let myself cease to care, and so the forest swallowed me whole, became everything to me. I had allowed myself to be opened and emptied of everything in order to become what was needed of me, so emptiness now fills me.”

She looks up at you, her dead, glassy eyes unconcerned. “When you need something badly enough, it becomes part of you, especially when what you need can only be provided by youkai.”

If you had your Pearl still, it would have stuck in your throat.

[+] I don't believe you, not entirely.
[+] Potential hug maybe.

You're certain there's something you're missing here, inside her tragic tale – and it is truly tragic; worse, it could have happened to you – but you're not entirely sure what that something is. So, ignoring the unpleasant sensation of the gaze of all those yurei and kami upon you, you maintain your eye contact with her and ask her the obvious question.

“Is there truly nothing in this world for you, onee-chan? No purpose and no meaning to your life?” She simple shakes her head, once. “I don't believe that is true. There must be a driving purpose, or you would not have lasted nearly so long as this. Merely waiting for a potential apocalypse is not enough to bear a burden of this magnitude as well as you have.”

Nabiki shrugs mildly, and sips her tea. You reach across the table for her hand, carefully and slowly, but that still sets off the ghost at her side. Even as Nabiki turns – all too slowly as she is visibly unconcerned by the threat to you – to speak to the ghost, to tell her to be still, the sword is coming down at your wrist.

[X] Protect your hand with your left hand and complete the motion.
[+] Apologize, you've always been touchy-feely.

If it was Nabiki herself using a wooden sword, or a wooden sword created by Nabiki, you would be concerned. But as was said to you when your left arm was first recovered, you did a sight more than just 'kill' it. And as a result, it is much more than simple stone or living material. It is in a very real way as much dead ghost, as much unreal phantom, as it is physical and alive.

You simply place your left hand over your right arm as quickly as she brings the blade down, and the metal hammers into the back of your hand and immediately chips and bends. The ghost recoils from the strike and drops the blade which fades into mist, along with her hands and arms. She screams noiselessly, and your half-sister is only watching. Even as her ghostly protector fades into a mere phantom, one of the voiceless and bodiless multitude that surround you, your sister barely reacts.

Your hand rests on Nabiki's, warm, alive, and you feel her warmth as well. Her heart still beats, her blood still moves; whatever part of her is empty or poisoned, it's not her flesh and blood. She looks down at your hand, her expression nonplussed. “Yes, I know it's terribly lewd, but you're my family, so you'll have to excuse me for wanting to hold onto my sister's hand.”

She smiles faintly, for a few seconds, but it quickly fades and she shakes her head, not rejecting, but letting you know it is of no consequence to her. Which kind of pisses you off a little, really. “Is what you're saying to me that you gave up, and simply gave yourself to Aokigahara – that you let the Suicide Forest subsume you. I think you're wrong; you control them, not the other way around. You can't honestly claim that you're a soulless, hopeless monster waiting for me to destroy Japan so that your spirits can run amok....”
>>
>>46356288
Nabiki doesn't try to remove her hand; she simply shrugs and looks into your eyes with her lifeless ones. Frowning, you narrow your eyes at her. She's still crawling with destructive potential, and it still oozes in and out with her breaths. “If I go to the kappa with this need to heal my loved ones at any cost, the kappa will possess me, as you say Aokigahara possessed you? That great desire becomes a trap when you deal with the youkai?”

She sighs and lays her hand atop yours, gently. “You desperately need to heal your loved ones, which is why you seek out a kappa. But if your need is so great, why hasn't it attracted another kind of youkai to you?”

Tilting your head, you give your half sister a smile. “I don't know if you've noticed, but I'm not exactly the kind of person that youkai want to approach. Except, apparently, cats.” Nabiki doesn't smile., and you frown. “Why are you being cryptic? I am trying to understand.”

“I am still here because they need me to be here. Aokigahara cannot move, and the borders are sealed for now. So I move for them, and they move with me. And when you have opened the borders of Aokigahara, I won't be needed any longer.” An awful thought blooms in your mind, and you close your eyes, opening them to reveal the truth about your half-sister. “You don't need the power to heal your loved ones. They will heal, or they will pass on, as all things must. A kappa is only going to make things difficult, unhappy for you. Youkai cannot be trusted to give only what you need – your desire is what they will always fulfill, regardless of the cost to you or those around you. It is what they are, their very nature, Ryukusa.”

You have not fully acclimated to using Fire Eyes, but it works much better at this moment than it has before. And the worst of your fears is confirmed when the hollow shell of your half-sister is filled with black shadow and purposeful emptiness, her Pearl long shattered and dust within her soulless frame – her emptiness, her desire to be alone in the world fulfilled totally and utterly. The ghosts, real ghosts, all suicides, all hopeless, accursed, hateful things, they surround your half-sister because she IS Aokigahara. Where she is, they may follow. The specter that was protecting her was there more to prevent anyone from learning her true nature, rather than protect her life. She has life, yes, a strange, weird sort of life, but there is nothing of the kami or the mikoto in it at all.

A youkai.

I'm conflicted. On one hand, I feel we'd be a poor smile-protector if we didn't exhaust all options properly. On the other hand, I also think we did the proper thing with, for example, Wakaba's death by accepting it - and in many ways this situation feels parallel, especially with Ryukusa noting how similar they look.

>[] Then it is the kappa who might be taught a lesson. I never said I was going to succeed if I attempted to do this, or even that it was possible, but I need to see what is possible NOW, and the only way to do that is to attempt to. People might assume that it's impossible. They might assume that Youkai are the punishment for attempting said supposedly impossible act, but really, isn't that just another example of conceit? I am not saying I'll win, Onee-sama, only that we shouldn't fear trying, because even if I fail, things will remain on the course they are, while if I succeed, so much might change.

With Wakaba, we accepted her wish, but we still felt bad about the death. For the healing, everyone involved want to be healed, so it would be going against what they want.

Also, keep in mind that Nabiki probably felt Wakaba's suicide and is using it against us to manipulate us.

she's not Stone, she's Wood, though.

That being said, Water revitalize Wood, so it's good for her that we're here.

I think we go for the kappa but dont let our wish for the healing control us.
We are only looking for options and we have others so lets not be blinded but easy ways to get everyone healed that would come with a great price tag.
Remember the Kappa is a trap anyway.
>>
Also, anons, remember this:

XS posted the "White Robe" picture here >>46356288, but she didn't post the "Red Robe" picture afterward, like she usualy does.

It probably means that something (ie: the Forest of Suicide) is trying to make us accept the White Robe as the only option, and Nabiki's choice of word also indicate this.

[XX] Don't let her see what you know; try and glean more from her.
[XXX] Ask her why she was allowed to live by Er Yin, if she couldn't be Horobi.
[+] There is always hope, and youkai are not 'evil'.

Controlling your reaction is a lot harder than it would have been a few days ago. Getting in touch with your emotions has been difficult, even with the help of Yuuhi-chan. Ginka-chan helped as well, being a relatively ordinary person with whom you learned how different things were for you. But then again, you also hadn't been put into a position where you discovered your half sister isn't really your half sister, but a youkai pretending to be your half sister.

But hat isn't quite true. Fire Eyes do not simply reveal basic lies and untruths, nor do they reveal partial truths. Ryuu Nabiki, shattered, lost, confused soul that she is, still exists within that darkness. Her Pearl – the physical representation of who and what she was and is – still exists, glowing motes of shattered dust that it may be. So this being is, in parts and pieces and hints, still your sister. At the very least, enough of her to remain an individual, capable of reason and forethought, and perhaps even will.

That counts for something; it has to.

There is also one other thing that may be going on here. Youkai don't possess any elemental connection, or at least any ordinary elemental connections. However that doesn't mean she isn't a creature of Wood still, and that the youkai she is now might be attempting to use what it thinks Wood Eyes might work like in order to influence you. It is in Aokigahara's best interest for you to enact the will of Amaterasu-Omikami as soon as possible, releasing the ghosts to prey upon the human world. It might not be able to USE that power, but it might know and act on the IDEA of that power.
>>
>>46357475

While I do agree that we need to be careful, even extra-careful, why do you think it risks to be a first step toward that?

Ryukusa always takes everyone's opinion into account, and all the infos she can, before making a judgement. The fact is that what Nabiki has been saying is mostly a opinion and not fact.
>>
>>46357617
Which means you could be getting bad intel. Especially if your half-sister's mind is trying to influence you to finish what the Suicide Forest has started with her. Someone else might have been offended and done something rash, but you're not just anybody. You lift your sister's hand and touch your lips to it softly, gently. That act seems to cause the ghosts to withdraw, a susurration of movement in silence. “Onee-chan....I don't believe that you have given up entirely. And not all youkai are bad, nor do I think that all youkai must be totally destructive or damaging to work with. You've seen my cats; I have fought alongside youkai, as well as against them. One has even become a kami in my service, while another watches over my family.”

She stares at you, faint confusion written across her face.

“Youkai aren't evil. They mustn't all be destroyed – you studied with Hinata-hakase, you know that yourself. I've allied myself with the children of nogitsune, and I am served by a mukade spirit; my loved ones watch over a mukade egg, waiting for it to hatch. I didn't slay the isonade when it came for me, and I will deal with the kappa as fairly and as honorably as I can. My desires are tempered by the need to protect the ones I love as well as heal them. Can't do that if I become obake, after all.” You look into her eyes and clasp her hand in both of yours, well aware that you're not speaking to any mortal soul, or even your sister. But there is one thing that you have to know.

“Onee-chan....if you were already possessed ~of~ the kimoto of Aokigahara, why didn't Er Yin destroy you in the Flames of Truth?” That one word makes a difference – “of” instead of “by” – but that might not get you the answers you need. Because now you desperately need answers, and not concerning the kappa.

You need to find out how much of Ryuu Nabiki is left to save.

>>46356978
>>46356588
I paraphrased and worked in the ideas as much as I could - I don't think Ryukusa would want to risk drawing a blade though - there are a huge number of ghosts still present, and her cat-filled aura won't necessarily stop her from being torn to shreds - or worse, cursed -by that many ghosts attacking at once.

It's tough to guess for us readers, at least those without much knowledge of Japanese mythology, though being able to 'save' her spirit but not her life seems like a thematically plausible outcome.

No I know I wasn't expecting anything more than an incredibly vague and cryptic answer, more something for us to discuss.

Thanks for running XS it was great.

Another broken soul to save you say? Look no further then "Ryukuza Quest: Protector of Smiles and Youkai Caretaker"
>>
I'm starting if this is a kind of trial from Kiku to make us see if we're ready dealing with youkai or not

I can say this much, as it is information that ryukusa has.

A Pearl is like a ROM hard drive in that it is a physical representation of the dragonne's or dragonette's spiritual, mental, and physical being. Damaging a Pearl isn't just painful or fatal, it's quite literally damaging the existence of the dragonette in question. Typically it takes much more than mere physical force to damage a Pearl.

The fact that Nabiki's Pearl is dust but still 'alive' according to Fire Eyes means that Hibki, in some manner, exists in the shell of her body. How much of it is intact and still sane, considering a damaged Pearl is a lot like having your human brain damaged, is a very difficult question.

Technically, Nabiki is what you would refer to as an obake, something that has been transformed into something else. How much of what is left is Nabiki and how much is alien is what Ryukusa wants to figure out.

Doesn't sound too promising, but no reason to give up already!

We should remember to ask her if she has any other dark secrets that we as her (almost)kami should maybe be enlightened about.

Is healing a pearl something that is know to Ryukusa to happen? Or at least in theory?

Our pearl has been healed at least once.

Now, if it can be healed when it's hurt to this point? All bets are off.

I somehow doubt our situation is widely applicable.

Er Yin specifically let her live. Why? Kiku told us specifically to meet her. Why? The funny thing about repentance is that people often confuse punishment for it.

Ryukusa hasn't heard of Pearls being fully healed, but her father mentioned there were more ways to use Dragon Pearls than most knew, and hinted that Kiku might know something.

And while she hasn't heard of any healing specifically, she does know that Nabiki is somewhat similar to herself; she felt her own Pearl dissolve into her flesh. Can the remnants of Nabiki's Pearl be dissolved into whatever Nabiki is now, thus making it Nabiki more than whatever it is now? That she isn't sure of. But she's positive the remnants of the Pearl are having some kind of influence on her - enough of ne that she still thinks of herself as Naiki, a Wood dragon, rather than a youkai formed of the dead of Aokigahara.

Those are things Ryukusa doesn't know just yet.
