I'd hate to see these guys go unfinished. so this is a thread to fluff up the Sanguine Shields, a chapter created using the Space Marine Creation Table. What we have so far.

https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Sanguine_shields
>Blood Angel Successors.
>Pure Geneseed.
>Founded as a Counter to new Xenos that Hypastistai Maximus the Furious became our figure of legend for driving to extinction.
>We live on a Feral Wasteland, ruling with a Stewardship.
>We like Armored Assaults.
>We are Codex Divergent.
>We have Totemistic Charms in the form of the silver skulls of our fallen brethren and the preserved hearts of our enemies. Keeps the bad luck away.
>Purity of Man.
>A little less than 2000 Marines in the chapter.
>Owned and controlled in secret by the Officio Assassinorum.
>We hate Chaos Space Marines, and they hate us.
>Warcry: Shield to Shield!/Mártyras Mou!

Run down crusaders, with a regiment's worth of warboy neophytes, Macedonian influences, and dark conspiracy behind it all?

What's not to love.

Remember to update the wiki and archive threads when possible.

Last thread left off on some discussions
>what are our power spears?
>Who is the battle brother in >>46352285 ?
>Only War stats
>stratagem
>>
>>46352513
The power spears are just standard power spears given before we pissed off the Mechanicus, so they're delicately maintained and recovered from the battle field at all costs
>>
>>46351909
>Owned and controlled in secret by the Officio Assassinorum.
What
>>
>>46352513
>>46353134
I see no need to put this much 'lore' behind the spears. No other chapter goes into detail on how they get their power weapons.
In fact power weapons seem to be relatively common in the Imperium and should be easy to craft and maintain for a Techmarine worth his salt.

Just portray them in quantities that make sense.
A normal marine will have his scutum a CCQ weapon and his Bolter. Keep the power spears for the more elite choices, just like any other power weapon.
>>
>>46353408
I actually like this, how about for Spears some piece of hardened ceramite stick with a bolt pistol attached to the end of it instead of everyone having power spears
>>
>>46352513
I could've sworn that the contemptor had Aleksander in it
>>
>>46353834
I'm personally not a fan of shooty-sticks but that's no reason not to use them.
Only thing I would propose is to not make them a replacement for the Bolter.
Treat them like a special weapon upgrade for Tacticals and a weapon option for Assaults (maybe make the spear/shield combo unusable with a jump-pack even).

My idea is to have the main weapon group in a formation be the Bolter/Shield combo, with spears being a first row kinda deal. When the formation is closed only the front line can engage in CCQ anyway, and when spread out the ol' trusty combat knife and a servo-powered kick should make do for most scenarios.

Aleksander's Shield,The highly, effective, Tactical and unique stratagem used solely by the Sanguine shields chapter of space marine is used offensively and defensively to launch a counterattack. Even though the tactic is highly effective with no enemy having proven to best it with ease, it requires a lot of resources. It involves 3 waves of heavy artillery barrages followed by 3 subsequent drop pods. The first is the elite armoured Assault tagma that utilizes heavy weapons to decrease the armoured effectiveness of the enemy. They enter the battlefield after a well timed artillery barrage conducted from a guard regiment or a another heavy weapons platform most likely in the near orbit. After the first wave is dropped, the artillery barrage starts it's attack on where the second wave is to arrive and only stopping when the drop pods are mere seconds from impact. The second wave consist of large amounts of squads of shield bearing battle brothers. They quickly form small shield walls and come close together but leave firing room for the heavy weapons. The third drop is, again, prerequisited by heavy artillery. The third drop is actually an en masse Teleport of terminators armed with Storm shield variants of the scutum power shield and several deep penetration squads. After the third drop has commenced the terminators armed with shields hold the line, capable of holding of even a titan or similar enemy. After the second wave catches up to the first, the deep penetration terminators (often replaced with brothers from the death company, especially in very small and very large operations) attack the specific points that the Terminator brothers have indicated as weak. After a single penetration is made wave two rushes in through the offshoot and creating pockets of enemies easily killed in an encirclement of shield wall. The third wave follows a medium range distance away of the shield wall terminators to decimate armour and a break through of any kind.
Cont

>>46364051
>armoured Assault tagma
Meant heavy weapons/anti armour tagma

This tactic is seldomly even thought of by other chapters due to the seemingly insane amount of casualties that would be recieved. However, the Sanguine shields powerful tactic has only fallen once, against tyranids, only to have the marines regroup and abandon the planet and exterminatus the planet.

Aleksander's Shield is often accompanied by snipers and armoured Assaults completely going around the enemy for a massive encirclement. The terminators of the 3rd wave are often replaced by overly zealous run of the mill shield marines die to a large lack of terminators in the chapter.

One of the most famous uses of the stratagem would be the massacre of Sevariana XIV. Where the PDF found itself in a useless struggle against a large Assault conducted by chaos undivided. With only the small PDF and 2 imperial knights defending against the onslaught all seemed Lost. When the Sanguine shields heard of a very peaceful world come under Assault near their vicinity they rushed to aid. After contacting the PDF they immediately countered the incoming chaos marines and cultists aided by an imperial knight turned to chaos. The first wave came down and disabled the chaos knight with powerful heavy weapons in time for the third wave to finish of the foes in between the bulk of their own forces and the artillery barrage for the 3rd wave once the third wave came it was reported that the terminators stopped several rhinos ramming into the shield wall and several tank shells as well before the heavy weapons dealt with them. After the death Company made their indents into the enemy and the imperial knight still operable flanking the enemy, the battle was over. Of the 400 brothers dropped into the field, only 36 were lost to the fighting. As opposed to the enemies forces of 5000,600 of which were chaos space marines, were utterly annihilated

So how is it? Too sue? Am I just shit at writing?
>>
>>46364588
>Too sue? Am I just shit at writing?
You go a little overboard with talking about how great it is, and the word choice and stuff could use some more work, but that's what editing is for.

As far as the actual strategy, I think it works pretty well for planetary invasions. Has a good system of 'pounding the hell out of the enemy and finishing him off while he's weak' going on. I do have a question though; This chapter relies heavily on neophytes and scouts. How do they factor into this?
>>
>>46364588
The concept is good, but the writing could use some work, like >>46364713 said
>>
I'm heading to bed. Try to keep the thread Alive, if possible
>>
>>46364713
Hmm the scouts fire with snipers from the flanks, I did mention this but It makes more sense to have it always be a thing and the neophytes will go across the flanks in their jury rigged rat rods and what nots

Okay so chainberds and shields are the basic equipment?
Are those gonna be statted as two handed chainswords and an unpowered storm shield that covers the whole body?

>>
>>46370812
I like this one. So the kinds of spears in the chapter are thus

>Hunting Lances, like the Talarans
>Chain spear
>Boltglaive
>MeltaGlaive
>Powered Bolt Glaive
>Sarissa

How does it sound?

>>46371779
I'll try my hand once I get home.

>>46371897
I would say all silver would be kinda rad.

>>46372315
I would say that it would. But it depends on the squad they're in I suppose. Regular Bolter dudes do exist in the chapter in even numbers.

And it's not so much an unpowered storm Shield as a huge combat shield with magnets of the sides.

>>46370488
Nope.

>>46370854
There's two Contemptors in the chapter. This guy, Antiochus I think his name is, and Aleksander. Dreads as a rule should be rather rare I think, as these Marines would rather Martyr then get put in a Dread.
>>
>>46372086
Hey man, you can try it too
>>
>>46372451
Yeah, but I was wondering how to stat them still.
Full coverage makes most sense, don't have a clue what a good AP or any other rules would be.
Chain spear is chain spear so I think two handed is all that should be tacked on.
>>
>>46372451
Dont really care what people want to use the picture for, but it was made to depict Aleksander.
>>
>>46372451
Not meaning to stir shit, and I'm fine with how it is, but I'm just curious why he isn't the guy in the contemptor?
>>
>>46372754
I've been here since thread one, and I believe we were going for the silver colored dread as Aleksander, and then there was more discussion and such where we retconned he color scheme into a Golden dread, as he was a Sanguinary guard.
>>
>>46373331
Alright, I guess that makes sense
>>
>>46372754
>>46372586
I don't mean to start anything, just reiterating the conclusions we've come to.

For an in lore reason it's just Psyops. Sure it's easy to follow a Dreadnought, but it's even easier to follow a giant golden angelic one that looks like a XXXL version of your boss pre-JUSTING.

Am I making sense or am I full of shit again?

Codex Demeanor is No Mercy, No Respite.

Squad defense is extra defense against psykers.

With a the Advance Table the marines gain a knowledge of the warp and a hatred for psykers.

That would mean our hatred is directed towards traitors and psykers. So Traitor Librarians...or thousand sons.
