You are Sallazar, a young wizard who has recently left the army. You have taken a teaching job at Egwen Girls Convent.

In addition the Headmaster of the school wants you to run the schools adventurers club, to give some of the schools more unusual girls something fun to do.

It's a week after New Gods Solstice and the guests have all gone home, well, other than that girl Chame has befriended, Ami. The Headmaster has allowed her to stay temporarily to see what she makes of this place. The other girls have made her welcome but strangely Chame seems uncomfortable with her presence. You're unclear as to why that is.

Something to worry about later, for now you have a new dungeon to prepare for, and the Daves have sent you a whole new list of rules and points tables to wade through.

Seems that the people running the junior league want to try and make this as complicated as possible – rather than encouraging the young adventurers to just get in, get the job done and get out.

Wait how can you get 1 point for a draw but no points if the opposing team doesn't turn up to a challenge match?

Still, at least the 3 objectives bit makes sense, with the time taken used as a tie-breaker...

You pore over the new competition rules, trying to figure them out, as you do your mind wanders, thinking about the girls in the club, and how they've been doing.

Now that she has been through a dungeon, Lucinda is training hard, working on her rapier skills, and also helping organise some of the other girls. It's not long before she'll be forming her own team you think.

One of those she's been working with a lot is Tisania, and you often see them training together, as Lucinda encourages the much shyer girl. Under Lucinda's guidance Tisania is slowly becoming more confident.
>>
Janrael is focusing on her sword-fighting techniques, with the help of Groundskeeper Answick. She's been trying to use her wings to help her deliver some pretty flashy moves; you'll just have to wait and see how effective those are in a real fight.

Safire is learning to fight, under the expert tutelage of Master Telgether. Initially she made little progress, but became really focused when Kittrane started training with her. Master Telgether asked Kittrane to schedule her general workout at the same time as he's been teaching Safire and now the little gem-girl is really in track.

Nataline is working with Sister Mary to develop her powers. It might be a while until she's ready to go adventuring but the other girls really like her and listen to her – whoever she is helping becomes more focused and motivated.

Anlanesa has been practising using her magic when doing her own training, but much of her time has been spent coaching and helping the other girls.

Calluna has displayed the ability to summon creatures that ...resemble elementals and maybe even angels. But they're also so different from either that they could be classified as a separate class of extraplanar creatures entirely. Maybe something from a very far realm. The things she calls don't stick around for long, do whatever she tells them and haven't hurt anyone yet, but you keep a close eye on them just to be sure.

Chame has been trying to gain the others girls trust back by behaving, but she's looking a little stressed. She's also been bringing her new friend with her a lot – that one is no trouble, she just sits quietly and watches what is going on.
>>
Cleya is being a dedicated and sensible girl and studying things that are going to help her be very successful in the adventuring club and in life – namely wizardly magic. She's also become your unofficial assistant: she fetches you coffee, gets scrolls for you and even writes notes for your lesson plans as you muse about them out loud. It's good to see such a dedication to learning.

Evrumine is working out a lot and trying to match Kittrane and Syphoebeus in strength. She has a long way to go, but when she loses her temper she is something else. You wonder if Chame paying a lot of attention to the newcomer has anything to do with it.

Kittrane has been...getting along with the other girls more. Maybe she's mellowing out. Or maybe she just doesn't have much time for picking fights, or perhaps the club provides all the outlet she needs for her more violent nature. Whatever the reason, you've had almost no complaints about her.

Nevyn has been working on her unarmed combat skills with the help of Master Telgether. She has also spent a lot of time hunting with her pack and training them.

Phaysis is excellent with spear or bow and that damned elf even compliments her. You'll need to steer her towards a less primitive path if she wants to make anything of herself.

Phoebe's strength – physical and magical - is increasing as she starts to push herself. You wonder how powerful she will one day become.

A knock at your door startles you out of your reverie.

“Professor...?” says Cleya, standing in the open door “Are you coming to the club meeting?”

“What?! Oh yes, just let me gather a few things” you hastily pile up all the new rules and follow Cleya out to the club house.

XXX

“And those” you finish your speech “are the new league rules – any questions?”

You stand in front of the girls, all sat on hastily arranged chairs and benches, a sea of faces showing varying amounts of confusion, fear, contempt and anger.
>>
There's a drawn out silence. What? no one has any questions, you certainly have questions: like which bunch of drunken idiots wrote the rules so that a club might not qualify for the finals, but a team in that club still could.

Nataline is the first one to raise a hand “Ah, Professor, I might have misunderstood but it seems to me that these rules give an unfair advantage to the schools with larger clubs, after all a club can have multiple qualifying teams in the final rounds, so a large club stands a greater chance of winning the championship.”

You open your mouth to explain, but Chame interrupts “actually a club fielding only 1 team would be able to maintain a perfect per-match score by picking their matches carefully and qualify, and with only a single team the clubs point average per team would be top as well, automatically qualifying them. If the clubs point average is too low, then only the team qualifies and-”

“They can't change their lineup to deal with changing scenarios” Anlanesa finishes, speaking quickly over Chame.

Evrumine wrinkles up her face “that makes no sense.”

“It's bureaucrats makes rules for rules sakes” Kittrane says with a huff “making no sense is the point.”

“Makes perfect sense to me” says Calluna quietly, but you barely hear her as the girls all start to debate the merits, and many flaws of the rules out loud.

“Girls, girls!” you raise your voice to be heard “the upshot of this is that we need every team to win and earn points, not just one: we're going to need some of our novice members to step up, form new teams, and start winning.”

Several of the newer girls look worried as you say that, so you moderate it by adding “and the more experienced members of the club will, I'm sure, help with that, and also join as reserve members.”

Nods all round indicate agreement with this line of thinking.

Cleya raises a hand “Professor, are we picking a new team now?”

“Not permanently” you say “let's try something else first, follow me.”
>>
XXX

“What is it?” asks Janrael, staring at the new building on the grounds, located just behind the club house.

“When did eet get 'ere?” adds Evrumine.

“The Daves sent me a gift over the holidays” You say, indicating the small, blocky grey stone building “a portable mini-dungeon. Only has a single floor, a handful of pre-set maps, and a limited monster roster but it means we can try our own practise dungeons any time we want to. And I think it's time the new girls had a turn.”

You look out at the club “A team of four I think, selected from those who haven't picked a team yet, and for team leader...”

You are Lucinda, succubus Soulborn, currently sharing head-space with some other succubi with unusual mental abilities.

“Tisania, Evrumine, Syphoebeus” Professor Sallazar lists off your team-mates “and Lucinda”.

Evrumine and Syphoebeus give enthusiastic nods to that, Tisania just looks nervous. The girls who weren't picked are a mix of bored, unhappy, and gleeful that they get to watch you all.

-I guess that makes the cowgirl the leader- comments Celya -Good luck with that- None of them are physically present: sometimes they turn up, sometimes they don't, but they are always with you. Eh, you're not that bothered, you don't have to do as the cowgirl tells you, and it'll be fun to run around and create a little mayhem-

“Lucinda will lead for this dungeon” the professor adds.

-Oooooh crap- says Fenra in a delighted tone of voice -Welcome to responsibility-

“Wait, me, a leader?” you say, as your new teammates start grabbing weapons and armour. Syphoebeus her hammer, Tisania her spear, Evrumine an axe.

“Yes you Lucinda” says the Professor, not smiling “now get ready – your next decisions could be life or death ones”.

XXX

Having grabbed a rather ostentatious outfit and a rapier you stand before the doors of the new dungeon building. With you is a girl so tall she'll need to crouch down to get in the front door, one so impulsive she'll charge in to battle at the first opportunity and...Tisania, huddling up to you like you represent some sort of safe place for her. Damn, right, can't let her down, can't look like an idiot in front of the other girls.

-But we know...- Crows Fenra gleefully. You ignore her.

You shrug your cape back over your shoulder and stride forwards confidently “Stick with me, we'll show the others how it's done.”

You try to ignore Evrumine and Syphoebeus exchanging glances as you stride through the doors, the other girls close behind.
>>
Inside is a square room that's empty of monsters or obvious threats. It's made of worked stone and there is a door to the left, one to the right and one ahead.

“Uh Lucinda, which way?” asks Tisania. Evrumine and Syphoebeus don't offer advice.

You think carefully, listening at each door in turn. The left one is silent, behind the right one is the sound of rushing water and ahead is the sound of low voices, orcs maybe, no, goblins...could be trolls. Damn. What to do...

“Just wait here a moment” you tell your team.

-Ok, I'm going to need your help with this- You tell the other girls -We need to scout out all these routes-

-One ectoplasmic sacrificial porn coming up- Eyja assures you.

-You mean pawn right?- Celya enquires.

-No- You can sense Eyja's amusement. Together the four of you start to build your servant...with somewhat different designs in mind...

“Is eeet, supposed to look like that?” Evrumine asks, looking your ectoplasmic servant up and down.

“Mostly” you answer her, trying not to roll your eyes too much as Syphoebeus smirks.

Your ectoplasmic servant that you've created to scout is a translucent male humanoid about your size...but with long wavy hair, a chiselled anatomy that lets you pick out every muscle and a somewhat obvious bulge in his pants. And even getting them to agree on pants was a struggle. But you persevered – you are going to prove yourself worthy of a leadership role...maybe.

“Scout out these doors” you say, pointing at the three doors, looking for some sign in its smouldering expression that it understands you “and report back.”

Without a word the ectoplasmic servant heads through the first door you pointed to: the right one. It returns shortly thereafter to say in a bland tone “corridor, more doors.”

It heads through the left one and returns saying “room, coloured squares and writing.”

Evrumine bites her lower lip “Dose zat mean art on ze walls or a somezing?”

“A puzzle of some kind maybe” says Syphoebeus.

“Uh Lucinda...” Tisania points at your ectoplasmic servant, heading for the door ahead of you “wait!” you tell it, it stops.

-That was close- Eyja says

-Yeah it almost drew the orcs or whatever down on us- You say -I'm not sure which way to go, suggestions?-

-Head towards the monsters- Suggests Fenra -These dungeons are all about fights and stuff right?-

-Head to the right- suggests Celya -It'll be safer-

-Or you could- Eyja starts, but you cut her off.
>>
-Head to the left, thank you all ever so much- You can feel their amusement over the link you share.

Evrumine, Syphoebeus and Tisania all look to you for direction. Syphoebeus and Evrumine are casually getting ready to rush through the door ahead...it's easy to guess where they want to go. Tisania is hanging back with you.

Hmm, so a puzzle or art room, or exploring, or a fight...

You're pretty smart, no puzzle-trap thing can stand up to your intellect. Plus it'll be less violent than just smashing straight in, and the Professor said something in his lecture about three objectives per dungeon or something right? Actually you were too busy staring at Nataline's rear, but he definitely said something about objectives and behind a puzzle is the logical place to put them.

“Let's go appreciate some art ladies” you say, heading to the left-hand door. The ectoplasmic servant trailing behind you. Tisania follows you without comment but Evrumine starts moaning and Syphoebeus sighs. Whatever, you're in charge.

Soon you're all in a small room with a moveable tile pattern on the floor, a dozen, no wait, fifteen squares all locked together on the floor, with one square absent so you can move them all around.

“What is zis?” Evrumine wonders as you all examine the room.

There's three doors: the one you came in, one ahead and one to the right. The other two doors are locked and all fit the doorways very tightly. In the ceiling is an iron grating that drips water and is all green and covered in mould or something. In the floor, up against a wall is an open drain: you can hear rushing water.

Next to each of the two other doors is a pattern of coloured squares. The door to the right seems to have the simpler pattern to make; the one ahead seems more complex. Next to the door you came in is a sand-timer – all the sand is in the bottom.

The door ahead has a symbol of crossed swords wreathed in flame and lightning above it; the one to the right has a picture of a cloaked figure hiding behind a pillar and spying on some guards.

“If we solve this puzzle” Tisania looks at the door to the right “we can sneak up on the orcs?” She doesn't sound too sure.

“It looks like it” you say, putting a hand encouragingly on her shoulder “what about the one ahead?”
>>
Tisania chews her bottom lip “magical weapons, or something?”

“And if we fail?” asks Syphoebeus, looking up at the dripping grate in the ceiling.

“We drown” you say with finality. And you'd lose.

-Pry the squares up- Suggests Fenra -cheat, who says you have to play by the rules?-

Or it just means new players are showing up, which isn't uncommon. It was enough to be suspicious this time, but there's no absolutely no guarantee that all of them were samefagged.

>the one where he put in a comment to avoid duplicate block wasn't a new IP
Because god forbid someone states a possibility or tries to actually discuss an option. It must be absolutely silent voting with no double arrows, all opinions or comments are banned. Forget that he was in the middle of posting a reply to a reply when the new IP potential-samefagging started, or that one of the cheating votes also posted a comment, clearly it's just that anyone that disagrees with you is the samefag and absolutely no legitimate voters can exist on any side that has samefagging.

“We'll try to complex puzzle” you say, examining the image you need to replicate, and comparing it to the muddle of squares on the floor “but playing fair is for suckers.”

Bending down you take out your knife and carefully pry up one of the coloured squares.

“Lucinda!” says Evrumine in a shocked tone “zat is not how eet iz done – you will get us drowned!”

The square pops free and you all take in a breath by reflex...but nothing happens.

“See?” you say, grinning “I can do this.”

You carefully pry up enough of the squares, shift a few around and then put back those you've lifted, until everything fits the pattern on the far door. You notice that as soon as you slide one of the squares the sand timer flips over and sand starts flowing: but you have plenty of time to complete the pattern. You hear a click coming from the far door and investigating you find it open, and in a silvery chest are four glowing weapons – one to match each of the the weapons you and your team have.

Evrumine picks up the axe and takes a few practise swings “I can really do some damage with this!” she says happily “it's so light and the blade, so sharp!”

[Cleaving Axe: Grants the wielder 2 ranks in Cleave feat]

Tisania hesitantly picks up her spear – which suddenly has electricity dancing around it.

“It tingles a little” she says.

[Shock Spear: Deals +1d6 electricity damage/+1d10 electricity damage if used by anyone with lightning/storm affinity]

Syphoebeus picks up the huge hammer and gives it a few practise swings “What does this do?” she asks. Nothing seems to happen: no blasts of lightning, no crack of thunder.
Eventually she puts it down, head first.

As soon as the hammerhead touches the ground a shockwave ripples through the floor – knocking all of you down, save Syphoebeus.

Syphoebeus grins “Oh yeah, this I like.”

[Earthquake Hammer: Deals +1d6 physical damage on a hit. Can be used to strike the ground – knocking down anyone nearby and damaging them.]
>>
The rapier seems to fit your hand perfectly. You take a few practise jabs but disappointingly, nothing happens.

-Maybe because you cheated you don't get a reward- suggests Celya.

-The others all got a cool weapon- You point out. Hmm, maybe you'll find out what it does...

[Unknown Rapier: ???]

“Well this was fun” you say “But we can't hang around here all day.”

Syphoebeus and Evrumine wear identical eager grins.

“Now we crush ze orcs!” Evrumine yells.

At your side Tisania says “Um, shouldn't we explore more first?”

In your head Eyja suggests -Or maybe solve the second puzzle-

“Where going to...” You say, pausing to consider your options.

“I think we got what we came for” you say, placing the new rapier in your sheath “let's go and kick some orc butt!”

Evrumine and Syphoebeus both whoop with joy and you're off, Tisania following along behind. Your ectoplasmic servant has since dissolved into nothing.

You all burst through the door you heard the voices coming from, coming out into a large room with several long tables – like a feasting hall or orc meeting place or whatever.

Sat at the tables are a dozen orcs, all playing dice or sharpening weapons: well except for one that's asleep. At the rear of the hall is a raised dais with another long table, but no one is sat at it. In the far wall, and the one on the right are more doors.

As you burst in the orcs all look up in surprise, they they start grabbing weapons, even as Evrumine and Syphoebeus charge. All of the orcs look like regular warriors.

Tisania stays by your side.

You turn to Tisania and put your hand on her shoulder, looking deep into her eyes and holding her gaze with your own “Tisania, I want you to do something for me.”

“Uh, what Lucky?” she asks, ignoring the two thugs charging into combat.

“Get in close and blast them with your lightning breath” you say.

Tisania's eyes widen “but Lucinda, I...”

“I believe in you” you say, Tisania looks down. You put a finger under her jaw and raise her face until she's looking at you again “Go and get them” you whisper to her, adding fiercely “I believe in you!”

You see Tisania visibly gather herself and head after the other two girls “Look after her!” you yell at Syphoebeus and Evrumine.

Most of the orcs rush forwards, weapon in hand: Evrumine and Syphoebeus hit them head on: sending several flying. Axe and hammer make a real mess. Coming in behind them, Tisania lines up several of the orcs, takes a deep breath...

...And is hit in the stomach by a club wielded by a particularly brutish orc. She doubles over coughing, her breathweapon swallowed back down.

[Tisania HP 3/6]

Tisania tries to defend herself with her spear: blocking follow-up blows, but she is steadily retreating.

The orcs in close combat focus on Phoebe and Evrumine; scoring a few hits. In her fury Evrumine seems impervious to damage.

[Phoebe HP 10/11]

The four orcs hanging back grab longbows and two take shots at you; the other two watch the melee: trying to pick a clear target. Both arrows miss you, but you have to duck aside as one comes very close.

“Don't give up Tissy!” you yell to the obviously terrified Tisania “you can do this, I know you can!”

As Evrumine launches herself forwards, heedless of the danger you yell out orders at Syphoebeus “I said look after Tisania, Phoebe! Not run in headfirst like an idiot!”

A somewhat shamefaced Syphoebeus drops back, smashing her hammer over the head of the orc attacking Tisania. As the orc archers start firing, Phoebe shields Tisania with her body – the young titan soulborn takes an arrow in the chest but doesn't seem hurt.

Tisania leans around the larger girl and unleashes a bolt of lightning – catching 2 orcs and making them dance briefly, before collapsing.

Evrumine is making short work of the orcs she's fighting and the last few are about to run, when both the door in the side wall and the one in back open up.

From the back emerges a much bigger orc dressed in bearskins, and wielding a huge axe – he's almost as big as Phoebe!

From the side door comes a much smaller orc, dressed in furs of several animals and carrying a staff festooned with weird charms and amulets and stuff.

He is flanked by two white wolves that are partly see-through.

The staff-wielding orc yells out in the common tongue “I shall throw magic around haphazardly without any respect for the forces I wield, and without any formal education in the arcane arts, because I'm a primitive savage!”

-Oh wow, inserting our biases are we professor?- Asks Celya.

“Phoebe the wolves!” you yell out as within your head another voice suggests something else Phoebe could try to distract two large dogs.

“Tissy, hit the orcs again!” There's no point in giving Evrumine any orders, she wouldn't obey them anyway.

You start casting your spell, shaping the magic carefully, the way you were taught. You feel the laughter bubbling up inside you: part magic, part hysteria. Thrusting it outwards towards the orc shaman, you put a lot of power into your spell - within moments the shaman is doubled over, howling with laughter. His staff fires a bolt of sickly green energy – or tries to at least – it splashes against the far wall, not even aimed in your direction.

[Lucinda AE 33/47]

Syphoebeus heads to intercept the wolves as they lope towards you: swinging her hammer and smashing one aside – it lies still where it lays. The other tries to dart past her but she grabs it by the fur, pulling it back and throwing it to the floor. It scrambles to its feet and snarls at her.

Tisania's lightning breath leaps out again, barbecuing more orcs – the rest of the ordinary orc warriors flee.

Evrumine and the orc war chief charge at one another: slamming together with an audible crunch. Both go stumbling backwards, and then surge forwards, axes swinging. You've heard that an axe fight can take a lot of skill – but both of them are substituting raw strength and fury for skill. Soon both are bleeding from several wounds.

You gather your power, ready to lash out at the shamans mind as you should out orders “Tissy the wolf, Phoebe the shaman!” You trust that Evrumine can handle the war chief by herself.

As the shaman struggles to bring himself under control you blast his mind with focused magical energy: he drops, dead as a stone by the time Phoebe reaches him.

The wolf leaps at Phoebe and bites her arm but she easily shrugs it off.

[Phoebe HP 8/11]

Running past it Phoebe heads for the shaman, the wolf following...until Tisania shoots it right in the haunches with another lightning bolt, dropping it.

Evrumine's duel with the orc chief grows more savage as the both throw everything they have into it...until only Evrumine is left standing: bloody and battered, but alive.

[Evrumine HP 23/39]

You hear a loud clapping noise, followed by the Professors voice coming from above “well done girls: you are victorious!”

XXX

Back in the club house the rest of the club congratulate you; there are hugs, words of encouragement and rounds of applause.

You take it in your stride: the adulation of others is natural for you. Phoebe does not seem bothered by it and Evrumine is too winded after her fight to care.

Tisania shrinks from the attention though: drawing her wings around her like a cloak and hiding behind you.

Once everyone has calmed down a bit the Professor says “Well done all of you: a very good result for your firsr dungeon” you can hear an unspoken 'but...' as he adds “I'll give you a full critique at our next club session girls, but for now, is there anything you want to say?”

You all look at each other, then Syphoebeus says “I shouldn't have run on ahead, I was too eager and should have protected Tisania as I was told to.” She seems calm and accepting, when most girls would be ashamed.

“Um, yes, zat” says Evrumine, looking embarrassed “I got so caught in heat that I forgot myself.”
>>
You hide a smirk behind a hand as the voices in your head make the most of that little mistake.
Tisania just shakes her head, staying close to you, as the Professor looks to you for a response.

seems to be a tie between praising whole team, and just Tisania - breaking for team.

And no kiss request from Nataline
>>
>>46466384
But they acknowledged their mistake by themselves and besides that performed very well.
And Phoebe did defend Tisania after the first time.
>>
>>46466518
Their performance barely manages to make up for not following orders from the start and endangering a team member because of it, which is why I'm not saying to criticize them further. A mistake being acknowledged is not worthy of praise, nor does it lessen the mistake.
>>
“All of my team did really well” you say to the club “Tisania really stepped up” You give her a one-armed hug “and Syphoebeus and Evrumine did really well also. Sure they got a bit enthusiastic, but Phoebe made sure Tisania was looked after in the end and Evrumine stomped an orc chief all on her own.”

-Suck-up- Fenra says in your head

-Ooooh, look who wants to be a paladin- adds Eyja

-You're all dumb!- retorts Celya -Look at Nataline, just look at her. That's how we get her into bed, by being goody two-shoes!- Nataline does seem to be nodding approvingly as you praise your team.

“Now, which team is going next?” asks the Professor; hands shoot into the air around the room.
