Good news. Because of our previous efforts, the [White Moon] group have been succesfully infiltrated by a select few operatives and we are expecting progress in that matter. Agent Roma's acquisition of an intact [White Moon] comm system allowed us to spoof their communication protocols with some effect.

While we wait for final return on that case, another matter has cropped up.

A UNSC Water Relief Transport vanished while moving supplies to the small town of Cliffbase. Normally they would deploy a selection of troops to the area and find out themselves, but because of a jurisdictional kerfluffe between two of their upper departments it appears the entire problem has gone political. So far it's been a week and nothing has been done.

That's where we come in. An unknown third party contacted us and offered sizable compensation if we recover the missing transporter crew or at least clear the way to Cliffbase. They're getting pretty antsy for water out there. Intel suggest the area is not an active zone for any major gangs or militias, so we'll go geared for the worst.

Liren, the scan?

TS Liren: Oh hi. Actually... We don't have one. There's no satelittes that can give updated information in the area, and the UNSC refused to share their data with me. The best I can do is this - a week old flyby. I've marked the location we're likely to need to search and our insertion point, but as far as up to date information we don't have any.

oh hi, it looks like you're dealing with a [Feral Drone Swarm]! Those are all low level routine AI units, autonomous weapons. I think they've been in the desert for a while. Must have been a dropped payload from some Combine Harassment vessel, someone probably triggered them with an excavation or something.

You've got Needlers - they shot armor piercing spikes. Volume of fire is low but their aim is impeccable.
Disamblers tear things apart at the structural level
the scarabs there build more drones from those parts and---

Yep, those buzzer drones with the relay systems co-ordinate the local swarm.

But these are just lowly automated weapon systems. Kinda cute. You can slave them to do your laundry. I used to do that do that, and if you flip one over the skimmer tech can dry you off after a bath. Plus their buzzing is sort of like cat purring so that's kinda cute and anyway, no worries, unless there's some sort of active guiding intelligence behind them to mobilize the swarm it'll be fine.

You hardly ever get maddened AGI run-away these days! Everyone's gotten real careful with the safety protocols after that Daneskjold mess.

So, the Hong Corporate Financial Report is coming up in a week. High time for gossip and office politics. Normally we'd wouldn't get involved but this time Sub-Director Longwei reached out to Solstar Personally. It seems politics have gotten a little involved around the water cooler.

He's expressing some worry over the stability of his department. Things always get a little muddy near the end of a report cycle and this time the poor Sub-Director might be facing some serious censure over his last twenty million embezzlement scheme.

Currently he's holed up in his Estate down town.

Our mission is to keep him alive for three days. Then he assures us his underlings will have handled the proper appeasement procedure and office politics should roll on from there.

As for security precautions, I've taken the libery of ordering checkpoints established on some approach roads, and inserted two sniper teams in the Hong controlled office buildings near Mr. Longwei's estate. I've also tasked two 3 man Haze Teams as rapid response. They're waiting in the Hong Housing near the estate. The estate itself has 3 interior cameras transmitting to a security console.

Mines in the southern access might not be a good idea. The meeting room has access there too. It'd be better to put down active defenses like hidden drone turrets or more cameras.

The mines are mostly for halting a possible outflanking attempt and making the enemy waste time on searching for more mines. Their advantage is that mines can't be hacked or located via the network. There's little worse than our own turret shooting us.
I'd mine the meeting room entrance too, but the client is unlikely to agree to it. The meeting room can be protected by gun emplacements in the kitchen and antechamber.

That, huh, that there is a lot of cameras, and as a defender I definitely see the point you're driving for. But, looking at this like an invader? That's a smorgasbord. Even with the black AIC on the sechub, a capable hacker could turn our system back on us. Well I'm just going to point out. The more cameras we have, the better I can pull crazy stuff. Right now as long as I can see and know about a place, I can drop portals, I can move our folks around, I can do all kinds of crazy shit playing with space. But I need the information to do it.

Likewise, we can hook them up through different security hubs, where they are operating on contained networks but feeding screens to a single room see?

But I need backing to get it done.

Here we go.

1 dedicated black ice server added.
6 full security hubs, disconnected from one another but the 4 camera hubs accessible from one another.

All camera circles on the external side of things are hooked into server 1, since those are the cameras most likely to be detected from the outside.

By having them divided into 4 hubs, it makes it harder for one hacker attack to fuck with us.

Likewise, turrets are divided into Big Obvious Turret Hub, and Hidden Turret Hub.

You're adding security precautions to Mr. Longwei's estate and neighbourhood in anticipation of some Office Politics come the release of the Hong Corporate Financial Report. I'll have the team roll in some more road-checkpoints and wire up the cameras. You're doing excellently well.

Once we've finished security preperations, we grab some chow, some water and bunk out in Mr. Wonglei's Estate from tonight till monday morning 9 am. If we keep him alive for 3 days, our contract is complete.

We've added a field normalizer to the maintenance closet just in case. Professional paranoia and all.

I'm going to run an EyeSpye package through our cameras. If the Hub goes down, they lose it - but until so it should be enough extra processing power to sort out any electronic cloaking.

The turrets be can linked to the security system - The drones cannot without effectively making them house-bound.

Keep in mind if someone takes out the SecHub it all goes down if it's linked.
