Important Information: http://pastebin.com/ZycWvygUSuper Characters: http://pastebin.com/mP36hnjYYou are Tom Gainer, Class 5 Super and volunteer Cape. So far today, you woke up, ate breakfast, got a date with a Union Cape, and started your first mission as a Cape. That mission being: Investigate some mysterious disappearances in Mid Town. Your first stop took you to the mother of one of these missing persons named Donovan. You learned quite a few things about Donovan Bucholtz:Donovan was a model citizen. No enemies, no gang affiliations. He wasn't a Super. No significant other and wasn't seeing anyone.Nothing odd was mentioned to his mother, who he talked to earlier in the week. The area of Mid Town he lived in was fairly quiet with a low crime-rate.Right now, you and your supervising Union Cape, Tiffany Cooke aka Cicada Killer, have landed on in front of the apartment of the next missing person's closest relative: Wallace Long's uncle. Your purpose is to interview Mr. Long about his nephew and see if you can find similarities that can further tie the two disappearances together. The apartment is nice looking. But there isn't a lot in Old Town that has been hit that hard since the Quarantine, or so Cicada Killer tells you.She looks at you and asks you if you want to do things the same was as with Mrs. Bucholtz.>I'll ask the questions this time. You just tell me how I did when we're done.>I'll watch how you do the questioning. You've got more experience with this kind of thing.>Same verse same as the first!>I'll take the lead. If you think I'm missing something, go ahead and say something.
>>46489427>>Same verse same as the first! Now put me in a plane so I can put them in a hearse!
>>46489427>Second verse same as the first!A WHOLE LOT LOUDER AND A WHOLE LOT WORSE!
>>46489427>>Same verse same as the first!
>>46489427>Same verse same as the first!Hiya, Six!
>>46489492>>46489506>>46489523>>46489528A Glorious start! Hello to you all! Writtan!
>>46489544You shrug, smirk and reply. "Second verse same as the first!" She blinks for a second before smirking and stifling a laugh. You are unsure if she got the reference. Either way she got your meaning. She takes the lead and you follow her to the correct door. She knocks and, after a few moments, a bald, portly man of Chinese descent opened the door in a powder blue robe. It is closed and you hope he's wearing boxers under that, otherwise things are going to get even more awkward. Tiffany takes it all in stride, though and starts her introduction bit. Its generally the same, though the reaction is different."Bah. Good riddance. That kid wasn't amounting to anything." You are taken aback by this, and so is Cicada Killer. It takes her a second to recover and continue."Sir, as part of the investigation, we need to ask you a few questions about your nephew." She produces a badge from her belt and shows it to the man. He looked like he was just going to shut the door, but the man hesitates when he sees the shining piece of metal."Alright. Fine. But make it quick." He grumbles. The interview carries on exactly how you would expect. Wally was apparently a slacker who flunked out of med school. Instead of trying to pursue another real career, Wally decided to become a musician and performed in bars around Mid Town and parks with his band. He didn't live with his uncle but with a girlfriend who lived in Mid Town. This uncle made insinuations that Wally was a drug addict, but this man was throwing around so much venom at the kid, you wondered how true that was.>Okay, boys and girls, time to see if Tom has any questions for this uncle. Again write in what questions you'd like to ask.
>>46489816Did he frequent a gym? Any superpowers?
>>46489816Girlfriends address, bars he played at, any other friends been by?
>>46489816When was the last time you spoke with him? Did he have any gang affiliations or contacts for drugs?Putting together that a Physical therapist and a flunked med student were taken there is a good probability that they were taken for a purpose. Someone is sick and or needs rehabilitation but cannot or does not want to go to authorities. Even with things as they are, kidnapping is probably still a serious thing so it likely isn't for someone without pull but not likely the head of anything since they would get taken out for such weakness. Either a relative or someone of middling but essential rank. What are the time frames for the kidnappings? Who was taken first?
>>46489956Or I'm talking out of my ass.
>>46489956The med school background so far seems to be the only link. Don't know about the rest of what you said, but that's definitely a point worth looking into after we learn about the other missing person and if they have a similar connection.
>>46489882>>46489889>>46489956You decide it is your turn to chime in and ask some questions. "Had he displayed powers?""Hah!" The uncle laughed bitteredly, "That slacker wished he was a Super." Sarcasm doesn't make for a good answer, but it works fine here."Well do you know if he frequented a gym?" He stares at you for a second before producing a picture of the missing person."What do you think." More sarcasm. The man in the picture is quite obese, bald and brandishing an acoustic guitar as he belts into a microphone. You wonder if he's good."Okay. Well, have any of Wally's friends been by since?""No. Even if they did, they aren't allowed in here." The man is really quite the curmudgeon."When was the last time you spoke with him?""When he called a couple days ago. He probably wanted money for his drugs." He crossed his arms."Speaking of, did he have any gang affiliations or contacts for drugs?""If he did, its not in my house. I made sure he took all of his things when I kicked him out last month." You are really starting to dislike this guy. You ask him for contact information for his girlfriend and he writes out an address. He says he only knows it because he keeps having to forward mail there for him. Tiffany closes up the interview and you show yourselves out. The uncle says something crude and slams the door behind you."What an asshole." Cicada Killer mutters."Hey, CK. What are the time frames for the abductions. Who was taken first?" You ask her since there's time before you get to Donovan's gym."Wallace Long was first, about 5 days ago. Donovan was reported missing 2 days after that and Assad Aqueel was reported the next day." You sigh and go over the details in your head again.Wally flunked out of med school and worked in Mid Town as a musician. He was not a Super. His uncle believes he was on drugs and kicked him out a month prior. He lived with his girlfriend in Mid Town.He did not frequent the gym.[CONT]
>>46490364You shrug and prepare for liftoff as Tiffany grabs your arms and flies the both of you to the Gym where Donovan worked. You go over information with her. So far the only common link outside of being in Mid Town is that both had a background in medicine in one form or another. Its not a lot to go on, but its enough to put a few of the previous theories to rest. If medical backgrounds are the common link, why choose victims with incomplete training? If they needed medical attention why not go to a hospital. Cicada Killer suggests that it might be a Super afraid to seek help, but desperate enough to resort to kidnapping. Either a Villain or an emergent Super not knowing what is happening to them.Your conversation stops as you reach the building. Bars cover the massive glass windows, but it still looks relatively nice. There are a handful of people working out inside."Same verse same as the first?" Tiffany turns her head and smirks at you. You're sure she didn't get the reference.>Yep.>Nope, I want to do the talking this time.>Nah, I'll just take notes this time.>I'd rather to most of the talking this time, but go ahead and say something if you think of something I've forgotten.
>>46490573>>Nope, I want to do the talking this time.Gotta step forward at some point
>>46490573>>Yep.Besides its fun sitting around. Helps me think of things to say at lunch.
>>46490573>Yep."My superpower is listening, what did you expect?"
>>46490748>>46490665>>46490661Tom is getting clever over here. Writing!
>>46490798"For a guy with sound powers, you don't seem to like making noise." She remarks."My superpower is listening, what did you expect?" He grin and she rolls her eyes at you. "Besides its fun watching you work. Helps me think of things to say at lunch." She laughs a little walks on without you. You catch up quickly, but she seems to have been intercepted by a fit looking guy in a purple polo with the gym's logo on it. His name tag reads Chad. He looks like a Chad, too. Tiffany has started into her little intro already and is gesturing at you. Chad does a quick nod to acknowledge your existence. He might look like a dude-bro, but Chad seems to actually be all business. Though maybe the badge helps. The two of you sit down in the chairs across from Chad's desk.Chad tells you about the last time he saw Donovan. He was finishing up a session with a client and was going to go home for the day. It was late evening, but Don wasn't worried since he lives around the corner from the gym. Chad remarks how he wished he had offered Don a ride or invited out for a drink instead of just letting him go like that. You think Chad a pretty close to Donovan.Chad's story give you a route to follow back to Donovan's home. Cicada Killer asks about the client he met that night. Chad thinks about it for a second before digging through a filing cabinet near his chair. He pulls out the file and provides a picture and address for a Melissa McNeil. She looks fairly attractive, but guess the personal trainer thing was to make sure she stayed that way.>Roll d100 for perception>and ask your questions!

>>46491336You recognize the address. That was the address Wallace Long's uncle gave you as Long's girlfriend's place. You look at Tiffany and she sees it, too. She turns to her phone and starts entering something into it. There's the connection for Long and Bucholtz. The girlfriend, this Melissa McNeil, was a client at the gym. You decide to capitalize on this and ask some questions."Was she Donovan's only appointment for the day?""Yep just like every Wednesday. She comes in, they do some stretches, then aerobic exercises followed by some light weightlifting. She's been trying to get toned for her boyfriend I think. She talks about him a lot. Dude's an up-and-coming musician. I think he came here and picked her up a few times. He's a pretty big guy.""Have you had anyone come through who really stood out? Like they come in for a tour, but suddenly leave.""Hah. Pretty much anyone once they realize they actually have to work to lose weight at the gym. You'd be surprised at the disconnect between the two thoughts. But really, no one that I can recall. I'll have to ask some of the other trainers to see if they've noticed anything." Compared to Long's uncle Chad is probably the most helpful interviewee today."How long did Melissa attend the gym. Does she still come here? Did she specifically ask for Donovan?" Your questions becomes more quickfire the more excited you get."Hey you might want to chill a little there, bro. I got you. She's been coming here for about a month now. She was referred to Donovan by name from a friend who comes here. Donnie's pretty popular with the female clientele."
>>46491643You thank Chad for his help and both you and Cicada Killer exit the gym to talk. She is still looking at her phone."Good news bad new time. Bad news is the medical background isn't the connection Assad is a male model with a degree in fashion. Good news is we have our connection. Melissa McNeil is a photographer at the same agency. He also is a former client of Donovan's. Probably the friend who referred Melissa.">We need to track down Melissa.>We need to track down Assad.>There's something we're missing here.

>>46491818You confirm what the both of you know. The next step is to track down Melissa. She is the only common thread between the three of them and if she isn't your culprit, then she has to know something else that connects this all together. Luckily for the two of you its a brief flight over a couple of blocks to reach Melissa's studio apartment. You have a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach as you reach the front of the building.>The front door is wide open.>One of the windows is smashed outwards.>The building is on fire.

>>46492096There is smoke billowing out of the left hand windows of the second floor. You tell Cicada Killer to call it in. You move to the front door and test the doorknob in case there is more fire behind large piece of fake wood. Its cold you so attempt to open it. Its locked. You could try to kick the door in, but you aren't any stronger than a normal person, you could hurt yourself if you mess it up. You try to blast it down with your powers, but you don't have much fine control over blasts just yet. You might damage the building's foundation if you mess that up. You could try to find an open window and jump in through there, but you don't know if there is one open. Same thing with trying to find an unlocked door. On top of that, it takes up time that you might not even have.>No time to look for a secondary entry point. Kick it down! (d100)>No time to look for another way in. Blast it down! >>46492404You don't want to hurt yourself or the building. You decide it would be better to go around the side and try to find an open entry point. With your enhanced agility, you're confident you could leap through an open window if the opportunity revealed itself. Lo and behold, around the back of the building, there is an unlocked window you can open. You yank on it, and after a second, it gives and slides up. You back up and give yourself a running start. Its a smooth leap inside the building with an equally decent landing. You stop inches away from slamming your face into a nightstand of the room. The problem is that it isn't the apartment you want to be in. Worse yet, this one is occupied. A man in only a pair of pants and a healthy looking beer belly is staring at you in surprise as you stare back at him.>"Um... Official Cape business?">"You... might want to leave. Your building is on fire.">"Hi?">Ignore him and race upstairs to the correct apartment.

You might want to get out. The building is on fire." You're not sure if the man believes you, but luckily the fire alarm starts going off in time to verify your story. The man quickly runs out of his home and into the main hall. You assume that's where the locked front door is as well as the staircase up.You dash your way up and find the correct apartment number. You cough into your elbow from the smoke before you check the door for heat. You don't feel anything, so you start slamming your shoulder against door. It doesn't budge, so you continue throwing yourself into it. In the back of your mind, all you can think of is going back to the gym to see Chad about a membership after all this. After a small time and one sore shoulder, the door caves and you are treated to a wall of blinding smoke. You cough again as the smoke gets in you lungs and stings your eyes.>Try find anyone trapped.>Find the source of the smoke.>Find any clues to Melissa's whereabouts.>Other? Write in!

>>46493017>>46493024You decide it would be much easier to work if you could locate the cause of all this smoke. You've yet to discover the flames, so you think the fire might still be small enough to put out. You walk from the entrance to the kitchen/dining area. You don't see any sign for fire here, just more smoke. You continue on to the living room and, after finding nothing, move on to the bedroom. You finally catch sight of the cause: the mattress is burning. The flames are quickly eating away the cloth and padding. Your coughing is getting worse and its becoming harder to breathe.>Go back to the kitchens to try to find a fire extinguisher. >>46493204You're starting to feel a little faint from the thick smoke. You might be able to control soundwaves, but that doesn't protect you from smoke inhalation. You need to get cause of this smoke out of here. Getting a fire extinguisher or a wet towel would take time you might not have before you start to suffocate in the smoke. You snap your fingers and focus on ripping the mattress to pieces. You blink as the whole bed, frame and all, is reduced to so much dust and free molecules. It doesn't stop the smoke, but it at least gets rid of the source. What's more, that appears to have been the only place the fire was spreading from. You move to a window and open in, adding some much needed ventilation to the smoke filled room before deciding it might not have been a good idea to spend so much time in a smoke filled house. You stumble out of the apartment and sit against the wall next to the door, still coughing your lungs up. You don't feel so well. Coming up the stairs is Cicada Killer and a small group of firemen with hoses. The shout something muffled to each other probably to get you outside and have them do something for you. The speak to CK and she nods, picking you up and taking you down the stairs.[END OF THREAD]Sorry to cut things short guys, but I'm actually quite tired.
