You are Adrian Brown, a twenty five year-old third-year medical student living an otherwise normal American life in search of employment. That was until you woke up inside a direct and demon-infested hospital with four other victims of short-term memory loss. Together, the five of you managed to somehow survive by negotiating with demons and defeating those that were not so amicable. And upon escaping, the all of you realized that it wasn’t as simple as that.

Task Force 666 a multinational organization dedicated to combating hostile demons and those that would use them for ill intentions. And the hellhole you just went through? That was your ‘job interview’, one that you passed with flying colors. When properly offered employment as an agent among the ranks, you accepted without too much hesitation or second thoughts. Duty to humanity and whatnot.

You are now a Devil Summoner in the service of the Task Force, and the de-facto leader of East Coast Operations Rookie Team Three. It is your duty to protect mankind from all threats involving the demonic, but how you choose to carry out your orders is entirely up to you. The choices you make shall not only affect those around you, but the fate of the entire world itself…

[1:37 PM Monday June 29th 2015]

There’s one more place that you have to visit before you can go out on the mission. Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) recommends that every agent should pay a visit to the fusion labs. Even if an agent didn’t have the need to fuse any sort of demons for whichever mission he/she had been assigned, it still never hurt to update one’s personal registry of demons.

Once upon a time, a Demonic Compendium was literally a book with mystic runes and eldritch writings that sought to record a demon’s essence. And Demon Fusion was conducted with magic circles under the moonlight. However, that time was long gone. Nowadays, digital compendiums and fusion units are the way to go.

You’re still a bit confused as to why the manual refers to Mido’s particular floor as the ‘Cathedral of Shadows’. Maybe it was an inside joke of some kind, or one of those things that are still higher than your paygrade.

The five of you step out of the elevator as soon as it hits the destined floor, and follow the signs that point to the cathedral. You can feel a sort of humming that sets your teeth on edge, and a sort of electric charge in the air that causes the hair on your arms to stand up straight. Judging from the way the others are tense, they’re feeling it too.

You find a vacant lab, and shuffle inside. It’s a small space, barely able to accommodate all of you, dominated by a wide series of dials and gauges, buttons and levers. Separated by five inches of reinforced plexiglass, you behold a room thirty by thirty feet lined with cylindrical test-tube-like structures, each going almost one story in height.

Six ‘smaller’ units to contain the fusion materials feed into a ‘larger’ one with various cables and tubes. That is where the expected result of fusion would be by the end of the process.

Sitting in the room’s only chair, a man in his late twenties regards you with a cool expression. If his lab coat is any indication, then he must be one of the staff members in charge of this particular room. But his disheveled appearance and unshaved chin stubble gave him the appearance of a hobo trying to cosplay as a scientist more than anything else.

...okay, that was a bit much. You correct yourself. He doesn't look like a hobo as much as he does a mad scientist. All that was missing was a comic relief assistant that had some kind of speaking disability to complete the guy.

“Welcome to the Cathedral of Shadows,” He intones, adopting a serious gait and demeanor with a dramatic pose. You have to give him points for trying to match the rather…ominous vibes that the Cathedral was pumping into you. “I am the current technician operating this particular room.

“From the weary looks on your faces, I deduce with my genius intelect that you are agents about to go on a mission and not the interns that I ordered lunch from. You must be here to either register your demons, fuse your demons together…or perhaps both. What say you?”

Victoria and Brady seem to be regarding the dials and gauges with wide-eyed interest. You can’t exactly blame them. You’d be giddy as well if you weren’t here on business. First impressions matter, and you exactly can’t go fanboying out of glee that you’re standing on what’s like the set of a sci-fi movie.

You clear your throat noticeably before replying. “Registration and fusion for all of us. And if you don’t mind me asking, who are you, exactly?”

With a dramatic flourish, the technician stands up, knocking back his revolving chair in the process. As if on cue, the air conditioning suddenly turned on, and his lab coat fluttered as dramatically as it could from the little breeze.

“You do not know who I am? By the time I finally reach my next breakthrough in demon fusion research, you will most certainly know who I am! I am Frederic Byrne, the number two protégée of Professor Mido, and resident inventor and scientist for the Cathedral of Shadows. I have a doctorate in physics, dozens of thesis published on demonology, and a few learned youngsters under my wing that still haven’t gotten me lunch.

“But that is besides the point! As I mentioned earlier, I am Frederic Byrne and I shall be your guide to all things related to demonic fusion. Proceed at your own peril!” He finishes with a dramatic flourish of his hands and a laugh that’s clearly been rehearsed.

Victoria politely claps, but from the strained smile on her face, it seems like a polite gesture more than anything else. MacKay maintains a stoic front, but from the way Brady’s jawline is working, he seems to be struggling to keep his foot out of his mouth. Fitz keeps a dour expression.

>“I rate it ten out of ten.”
>“How long did you practice that speech for?”

“I give it a seven out of ten,” You eventually say, “But an ‘A’ for effort. How long have you been practicing that speech for?”

Byrne visibly droops, but manages to recover. “A week,” He admits, pulling his chair back and plopping on it with the grace of a sack of bricks. “Damn. It really has been a long time since my drama years. I need to step up.”

“Only the approach was wooden. Everything else checked out nicely.”

“The heck is a drama student doing in a paramilitary task force?” Brady mutters.

“Well, it was one way to pay the bills back home. That, and this was the best outlet that I had for my…ah, little eccentricities that would allow me to pursue both drama and my primary field of education.”

Everyone just gives him a deadpan stare.

“Oh, for heaven’s sake. I highly doubt that I’m the only oddity here. It’s a statistical improbability to find an employee or agent here that has some sort of odd quirk or skeleton in their closet. I can guarantee you that much.”

“No kiddin’?” Fitz says with a wayward glance towards all of you. “…yeah, we’re all pretty unique in that regard, aren’t we?”

Brady recoils dramatically. “And here I thought I was the last sane man.”

“No offense, Brady,” Victoria interjects, “But I think that title goes to MacKay.”

The man in question smiles, and politely clears his throat. “Yes, thank you for the recognition. Now, before we got…sidetracked, I believe we came down here for a reason…”

Byrne straightens up in his chair. “Well, enough dallying around, I suppose. Now, if this is your first time here, listen to my instructions carefully…”

>You connect your COMP to an available terminal.

“You first have to register your demons. Most agents do that unless they’ve got something better in the Compendium. Not you guys since this is your first time doing this.”

>You registered your demons!

(cont.)

Time to pray that this won't turn into a mess...

“If you’re wanting to fuse your demons, then keep your COMP connected. If not, then it’s alright to disconnect from the main sever. Your demon’s data should have been recorded, and will be available to access in the future.”

Brady looks at the screen, back at his COMP and then shrugs. “I’m happy with what I’ve got. How about you guys?”

MacKay with a nod. “Yes.”

Fitz, with a shrug. “Yeah, sure.”

Victoria, with a smile.“Hai.”

That leaves only you with your COMP connected
to the terminal. The options displayed on the screen in front of you are…

>With your current demons, you can only perform Binary Fusion.

For example...

>Centaur
--- Bufu (Weak ice spell, 20% Freeze to one foe) [3 MP]
--- Needle Shot (Weak Gun attack to one foe) [4 MP]
--- Sukunda (Reduce enemy Agility by 1 level)
--- Lunge

>Napaea
--- Dia (Weak healing spell for one ally)
--- Zan (Weak Force damage to one foe) [5 MP]
--- Resist Ice (Reduces Ice Damage)
--- Dormia (90% Chance of Sleep to one foe) [8 MP]
--- Dream Needle

>Angel initiate moves...

You make your choice.

With a push of a button, you select the demon you want to fuse. It doesn’t even take more than five seconds for you to input the magic that you want it to learn. You want to fuse an Angel. Out of all the options, it seems like the one that will cover the most bases.

Still, you can’t believe that you’re doing this. And not in a whole ‘demon fusion’ thing since you’ve read up a little more about the practice. You’re not bothered by the fact that this is what the warlocks and devil summoners of old used to do.

You’re more concerned with the fact that you’re making an Angel. You know, one of the Lord’s servants. How the heck does that even work? Everything Sunday School taught you is screaming how this shouldn’t be possible…

...hmmm. You’ll ask about the ramifications later. Hopefully your new demon has a few answers for you.

The dials and gauges on the control panel start to hum to life as you input the final command. There are cameras inside of the fusing room proper, and their live feed is on display on a few consoles. You take a look at the camera feed as the ritual begins to warm up.

>You do not need to roll an Loyalty check.
>Both Centaur and Napaea have 100% Loyalty.
>Your demons will not resist the fusion.

“My liege,” Centaur rumbles, his voice distorted by the sound of the fusion magic firing up. He bows low towards the observation room. “It has truly been an honor. I thank you for the opportunity to let me fight by your side. Should we never meet again, then I hope that my sacrifice shall bring you closer to your dreams and desires.”

“…” Napaea looks around nervously, but swallows and forms a resolute look on her face. “Thank you for letting me journey with you, Master!” She says, eventually smiling in spite of herself. “It really was a fun time! If we won’t see each other again…I’ll miss you!”

You press the TALK Button on the console and pull the mic towards your mouth, and lowly say, “…yeah. Centaur…the honor was mine. Truly. You were the first demon I ever recruited. I can’t thank you enough for the help. And Napaea? You’ve come a long way from the little fairy I rescued. Your sisters would be proud of you. Just like I am now.

“…I’ll miss you both. Thanks for taking care of this idiotic and reckless human. And…if I ever need your help…”

“Worry not, my liege!” Centaur declares, just as the blast shields come down around his tube. The Task Force wouldn’t risk magical backlash coming out of the ritual. Too many botched fusions and accidents for their liking. “Should you ever find yourself in need of my aid once more, you shall always have it. The Compendium will call me once more into the fray by your side!”

“Yeah!” Napaea adds, doing her best to keep eye contact with the camera as the metal comes down. “What he said. So don’t you worry, okay? We’ll always be with you, Master! Always and forever…!”

Her cry is cut off with the finality of the blast shields enveloping their tubes. The camera feed shuts off with a burst of static, and the magic runes around the platforms flare. Electricity surges in the fusing room, cackling and cracking to life, dancing and casting macabre formations against the walls.

A bubbling noise suddenly fills the air, and motes of light travel from both containers, through the wires and into the larger chamber. The dials on the switch are now peaking furiously as Byrne regards them with detached interest, occasionally tweaking a knob here and there.

Your companions seem to be startled by how…visceral Demon Fusion is.

Out of the corner of your eye, you thought that you saw Brady regard you with a dark look on his face. But perhaps it might have been a trick of the light, because when you blinked, his face returned to a more neutral expression.

>Brady disapproves -8

There’s a sudden flash of light, and a noise that sets your teeth on edge. And then…the ritual is over.

Unseen generators and gyros cycle down, and the last motes of electricity sizzle away and disappear. The blast shields rise up, revealing the smaller tubes to be completely devoid of any demons. You swallow the lump in your throat as you turn towards the larger, final tube.

If it weren’t for the fact that you knew you were a Devil Summoner, you would’ve confused the…the…huh. You can’t describe it. Words are having a hard time coming to you right now. And the rest of your friends. But MacKay seems to be sticking out the most, if his choking is any indication.

The pinions on her back are still and motionless, but in spite of that, the figure inside of the fusion chamber hovers a good foot off the ground. Sun-kissed hair tumbles down the side of her head to gently pool around the area between her shoulders, and her skin is completely devoid of any superficial blemish.

But perhaps what is most noticeable about her is…how… noticeable she is.

A black blindfold covers her eyes, completely whole save for the design of an eye embroidered on the fabric. What looks like strips of leather go down and wrap around her body, creating some kind of barely acceptable clothing that looked like it belonged to a fetish magazine than it did on a servant of the Lord. And that wasn’t even taking the collar and chain on her neck into consideration.

“I am Angel of the Divine Clan,” She intones, her voice solemn and unyielding. “And you are my new charge? Very well. I shall be the light that guides you down the path of righteousness so as long as you will have me.”

You can't even dignify that with a response.

You slowly turn around. Brady’s jaw shows no sign of being scrapped off the floor. Victoria’s recoiled violently away from the glass, a look of mortification on her face, and it’s all Fitz can do to reign in her laughter at all of your faces. As for MacKay…

…well, he’s still breathing. So that has to count for something, right? Even if he’s looking like he’s experiencing ‘nam flashbacks to the Nth degree.

Oddly enough, all Byrne is doing is munching on some popcorn.

And then everyone’s faces turn to yours, and you swear that you can hear every individual joint in the priest’s neck crack and pop as he regards you with a haunted expression.

Demons don't really die, they just lose their physical bodies and return to wherever demons go before they're summoned.

“She was supposed to have clothes,” You say, raising your hands up in a placating gesture. Victoria’s eyes have narrowed into something resembling disgust, while MacKay still has that distant look in his eyes. “I mean, look. The last time I met an Angel -not even a week ago I might add- was something more family friendly than the one we’ve got here. I mean…I thought golden and/or white robes were the standard!”

The intensity of her gaze lowers, although her mouth is still twisted in a frown. “…yeesh. I mean…I’m not Catholic or Christian…kinda on the fence about the whole ‘God’ thing,” Victoria mutters, “But even I’m appalled by her…uniform.”

“Adrian,” Brady says, clapping a hand on your shoulder with a serious expression on his face. “Remember what was at the top of the list. Please, for the love of all that’s holy, tell me that you remember.”

You shake his hand off and roll your eyes. “Yeah, I know. ‘Don’t stick it into demon poon’, you don’t need to tell me. So…MacKay?” You direct the last bit of your sentence to the frozen priest. “So…what exactly does the Bible say about this?”

The light in his eyes returns, and he rubs his face thoroughly with both of his hands. “…I think I need a moment to pray before I can respond to that. A very, very long moment. Preferably as far away from you as possible…no offense.”

Fitz finally loses it, and starts laughing with unrestrained joviality.

>You thank Byrne and head back up to the top floor.

You find Alger standing in the garage, leaning up against the Cadillac as he twirls the keys errantly. At your approach, the ring flies off of his finger and towards you. You catch them, fumbling in the air for a moment as you balance your equipment.

>>
>>46535819
Pretty sure QM said something like that when fusion was first discussed.
>>
>>46535889
Fusion doesn't really make sense from a narrative perspective anyways. It's mostly a game mechanic. Just go with whatever interpretation you want, it all ends the same way.

Two demons pool their power and disappear, yet they exist in the compendium somehow.
>>
>>46535928
I'm going to feel bad about MacKay when he realizes that God is a massive controlling douche.
>>
>>46535929
>>46535935
Let's clear this out of the way.

I'm of the school of thought that believes that the 'original' demons you're fusing together are lost once you make a composite being. The registered entries are kind of like 'flash clones' that are kept in stasis for future use. Sure they'll retain the personalities and quirks of the original, but aside from that...well, they aren't the original ones. Not the same.

And that's kind of why Brady was upset. I mean, the guy eats ice cream with his demons and watches shitty BBC TV shows in their spare time. He'd rather saw his own limb off than sacrifice (what's in his mind) two or more of his closest friends.
>>
>>46535819

>>
>>46536001
I can't agree with that. Especially since Fusion and Demon Fusion are different things as are Sacrificial Fusion and Bloody Fusion.
The Demon's Body and Magicite are used to form a new demon, like a child of those two. But there's nothing to suggest that the demon themselves die, especially since we know demons can be killed and not actually die.
>>
>>46536071
I don't doubt it actually. Get that man a Leanan Sidhe.

“Nice catch,” He says, opening up his COMP. “Hope it’s that easy for you to get the culprits for this case. And I’ve got all the case-relevant files coming in your direction.”

>Your COMPs receive Alger’s files.

“And I see that you took the time to visit the fusion labs, huh?” He regards you all with a wry expression. “Yeah, I had the same look on your faces…well, no. You seem to be more disturbed than I was. But we’re getting off topic and burning daylight.”

He hands you what appears to be some kind of storage device.

“You guys aren’t strong enough to handle Titania in your own COMPs. This here is one specially made for her, and it’s programmed to release whenever you push the button. One-time use, though, so don’t fuck up and release her when you aren’t in Kentucky.”

“Pardon me for asking,” Brady interjects, “But why isn’t the Queen of the Fairies…you know, riding with us in the car?”

“Three reasons, Brady. One: you don’t have enough space for all your equipment in the trunk. You can’t even put up one of the back seats. Two: wings. How the hell is she going to hide those from highway patrol and bored kids playing ‘I Spy’? And three: she hates driving. Something about our cars causes her to get motion-sickness. And trust me, that I learned the really hard way.”

You get the sense that there’s a good story for that, one that’s only accessible through many more missions and copious amounts of booze.

“So if you’ve got nothing more to add, then you guys need to get going. It’s thirteen hours from here to Kentucky, and that’s not even taking traffic into consideration. And try not to make too much of a shitstorm trying to solve this case. The last thing we need is a diplomatic nightmare. Understood? It's your asses and mine on the chopping block if we fuck up now, capisce?"

You all salute and respond with variances on ‘yes sir’. That seems to satisfy him.

“Now get on out of here. And don’t come back until you’ve untangled this fuck up.”

Without further ceremony, you load Miss K’s equipment into the back of the car, gently moving Elena’s cargo aside to make room for the guns and body armor. It doesn’t even take you five more minutes before you’re in the driver’s seat, with Brady riding shotgun and the others in the backseat.

You give Alger one salute from the window as you drive up from the garage and hit the streets of D.C., speeding off onto the highway and out of the capital of America.

All of you find something to do as you drive through the afternoon. Fitz catches up on her sleep, while Brady surfs the internet and reads the files that Alger sent all of you. Victoria fiddles with her COMP as MacKay peruses through what looks like his pocket Bible. As the driver, you don’t have much in the way of passing the time aside from humming classic rock tunes (the station was never getting of Hot 100.3 as long as you were driving) and chatting occasionally.

It’s quiet moments like these that bring the team together.

>Squad Carina approves +2

By the time sunset rolls around, it’s almost eight o’clock, and your throat feels something awful from all the singing. You’ve just made it into Kentucky now, but you’ve still got a few hours before you make it to your destination: Lebanon, the county seat of Marion County, and hotspot where the disappearances have been happening.

After gassing up, you made the executive call to pull over and get some chow before you continued. The only options available were a mom and pop rib joint, and the local IHOP. You ended up choosing the pancake house since eating ribs was more than likely gonna put you to sleep.

“Okay, someone else is driving as soon as we hit the road,” You mumble as you pop open one of the menus. “I wouldn’t trust myself on the road any longer at this point.”

MacKay nods. “I was about to offer to trade places. You look like you need the sleep.”

“You look like a tanuki,” Victoria observes, sipping on a coffee. “Raccoon, in Japanese. Complete with the circles under your eyes. All that’s missing is a tail.”

Brady shrugs as he closes his menu. “Driving on the wrong side of the road’ll do that to ya.”

“Welcome to America,” Fitz deadpans with a snort. “Where driving on the left is a one-way ticket to the slammer. Or a hospital. Your lordship.”

“Hardy har har.”

(cont.)
>>
One average helping of grits and one slightly-above-average side of pancakes later, and you and MacKay have traded places, with Victoria taking the navigator’s seat. You try your best not to doze off. You really do. But the jostling of the car and Brad Paisley singing out of the radio prove to be a deadly combination against the cup of coffee you had.

You can hear Brady talking with Fitz about the virtues of a shotgun, and Victoria pointing out which exit for MacKay to take. That much you can remember without too much trouble, drifting in and out of consciousness. Your eyes get progressively droopier, and eventually, you give into the exhaustion and close your eyes…

…and then you wake up in a landscape of perpetual white, with the scent of hyacinth flowers filling your nostrils and the feeling of moist soil squelching underneath your feet.

Oh shit.

“So who is it this time?” You shout, cupping your hands over your mouth. “Because, we have got to stop meeting like this. I mean, there’s a time and place for everything, but come on. Really? Are you always gonna call me whenever I’m starting or ending a mission? Seriously…”

Your voice trails off as you feel something grab you from behind without any warning. You tense up and go through all the motions of getting ready to toss down and smack a bitch before a familiar voice laughs and the weight around your body spins you around and around and around.

“You came back! I thought you had forgotten…but you didn’t! I’m so happy you came back here!”

Eventually, you lose your sense of balance and collapse onto the earth. You hear the displacement of soil and the sound of moisture compressing as the foggy outline of a young woman lies beside you.

“And you’re even more powerful than you were since the last time I saw you. Human potential truly does have no bounds. Little wonder why you were to inherit the earth…”

The voice becomes wistful before it comes back to its cheerful demeanor. "But I'm feeling much better. Last time, I could barely manage a coherent sentence but now? Listen to my voice!"

Recalling what the Crone told you, you take a deep breath and ask, “Are you the Maiden?”

The figure hesitates, but says, “…that is one of the names that I now go by, yes. It is not my preferred title…but one that I will accept nonetheless. So to answer your question, yes, you may refer to me as the Maiden. You will need some kind of label to refer to me as.”

You smile. Out of the three goddesses that pulled you in here, she was the one that was the most benign. “…it’s good to see you again, I guess. And I’m glad to see that you’re feeling better.”

“I would think so, too! It’s quite nice to have just a little bit of my former self. Of all the things I’ve lost over the years, just getting my whole voice back is a nice and welcome gain.

“But I suppose you are wondering why I’ve called you here. You deserve to know that much now.”

You nod. “That’s right. Your friend the Crone had a lot to tell me about all of you.”

The Maiden audibly winces. “…we did not expect her to reveal us this early. I wanted to build my relationship with you some more…and that…harlot of a goddess wanted to test your resistance with her depraved and brazen behavior.”

“Even though she was kind of a bitch, she still revealed more than you did,” You point out, not unkindly. “Not that I blame you since your voice was barely audible when we first met. But you could have told me that you were a forgotten goddess.”

“Would you have believed me if I did?”

“…no, probably not.”

“Then you can hardly fault me,” She quietly sniffed. “I was desperate and on the verge of oblivion…a selfish wish from a selfish goddess I know. But I never wanted to force you into serving me. That much you must trust me. I never harbored any ill intent for you, mortal”

“I believe you.”

You say it without any hesitation because it’s the honest truth. If anything, she was stewing in her own sadness before you first came here…wherever this place is. Huh. You still don’t know where this is. But even so, the only physical action the Maiden ever took against you was to hug you and spin you around.

That definitely places higher than, you know, being sexually assaulted while being strangled (definitely not your fetish) or having the smell of rot violently shoved into your sinus.

The soil shifts, and you can feel the mist coming off of the figure in slow, lazy breezes. You think you see what looks like a smile appear on where the head of the Maiden would be. A cool phantom touch trails down your hair, poking at your face and chest with blunted fingertips.

“…perhaps you were fated to come here,” She says, “Perhaps you were not. But that matters not. I’ve had my time to explain my side of things. And now for my first offer: will you be my champ-”

She cannot finish her sentence. All of a sudden, the earth violently shakes. Even though you’re sitting down, you’re still tossed around. It’s like a powder keg went off right underneath you. You’re sent rolling across the earth, hacking and spitting out rich earthen soil. “What the fuck-”

“Something has happened,” The Maiden whispers. “None of us would dare infringe. Not after the oath sworn. If it is not us…you are in grave danger.”

“Bwah?” Is the only noise you can get out of your throat before the telltale sensation of being pulled grabs the back of your neck.

“The next time you come here, it will be the Mother’s turn,” She warns you frantically, as the darkness closes around you. “It is a cycle we must go through, the rules we set for this game. They did not do this. Someone else is causing this disturbance. Quickly! You must return to the realm of existence!”

(cont.)
>>
“What about you?” You shout, doing your best to resist the pull as long as you can. “Are you going to be alright?”

“Don’t underestimate a goddess! Not me, nor the Mother, nor the Crone. Beware of the other two as well the next time you come here…!”

Her echoing words are the last thing you hear before you suddenly wake up, eyes wide open and frantically darting around. Your arms lash out blindly in a panic, and it takes Fitz’s elbow into your stomach to get you to calm down.

“You better not make this a habit, Sawbones,” She growls. You blink. Her pistol is in her hands, and Brady is doing his best impression of ‘duck and cover’.

“Bwah?! Fitz, what the hell is going on?” You belatedly notice that it’s still pitch black outside, and that MacKay is driving as fast and as hard as he can, with Victoria shouting directions and yelping at a series of noises. Metal pinging off of metal.

“Just as we hit the dirt roads, someone decided it would be a great idea to take pot shots at us,” She intones as she screws on holyshitafuckingsilencer. “I would’ve called the police, but oh gee? Guess what. A bolt of lightning came this close to fryin’ the phone in my hand, as well as the entirety of my body.”

“It’s either demons with guns, humans with guns and demons, or an unholy combination of the two!” Brady shouts as a needle the size of your forearm embeds itself in the side of the door. You stare. A needle that size was only possible through a spell. “I’m frankly not sure which one’s worse!”

“They’re coming around the side!” MacKay shouts, frantically eyeing the rear view mirror. “It’s a straight road…and as much as I’m loathe to say it, it’s either us or them right now, and I value all of you more than them at the moment!”

Victoria shouts, “I thought the Bible had something against killing!”

"The good book never went over demonic road rage!”

You know, all things considered, Demon Fusion went pretty smooth here. Or smoother than I anticipated at any rate. Probably might just keep it at using fusion at the Task Force HQ.

I'll update the sheets tomorrow, and if the thread's still up by then, answer a few questions. Maybe take a few now while I'm still up.

Eta to Alice when?
>>
>>46538156
It's already happened.
>>
>>46538134
>Probably might just keep it at using fusion at the Task Force HQ.
Honestly, I expected that was how it would work anyways. We don't really have the Cathedral of Shadows app, and it gives more control over it so we're not scrambling for stats mid-mission.
>>
>>46538162
>Nebrios, Belial, and Alice are doing a drive by on us.

Probably not the case, but a funny image.

So she's the Maiden then? Unless >>46538178 is right and they're doing a drive by?

I know who I'm championing.
>>
>>46538188
There's no way Alice is the Maiden. Not her personality. She also doesn't have a connection to a trio of gods I don't think.
>>
>>46538188
>Daughter
>>
>>46538197
I'm just confused now. Stupid half truths.

Wait...Annette?
>>
>>46538194
Honestly, she might be. The Maiden is the only one who fits unless she is indeed doing a drive by.
The Maiden also acts more like a daughter then the Mother or the Crone who want to jump our bones and is old respectively.
We also haven't see how she acts in the real world, just when she's around us.

>>46538239
Who's Annette?
>>
>>46538252
Eh I don't buy it. Alice isn't tied with neo paganism.

Also Annette is the woman we play as in the Interludes in the past.
>>
>>46538252
Annette is the deuteragonist of this quest. She is the woman we play in the 1875 interludes that take place in the wild west.
>>
>>46538268
Well remember, near the start/mid of the thread Kaz said Alice is "Sooner then you think."
Then we get to the end and he said she's already happened.

That suggest it's something between when he said those two things.
>>
>>46538295
Yeah but we met the Maiden before. Wouldn't he have said 'You already have met her'?

Whatever I'll wait until there is confirmation, but until then I am very skeptical.
>>
>>46538295
Actually check Twitter, Kaz just confirmed Alice wasn't Maiden.

So she could be tied to the drive by, or she could be tied to what pulled us out of Maiden's dream or something completely different.

Alice happens in the past sooner than the future. And that's all I'm saying just to keep you guys from blowing a gasket.
>>
>>46538328
So yeah, Annette's story.
>>
>>46538328
>keep you guys from blowing a gasket.

Bit too late for that one.
>>
>>46538321
Eh, I still like the Maiden better then Mother or Crone.

>>46538328
We're way past blowing a gasket and now at "Is Alice here yet?" every 5 minutes.
>>
>>46538361
>>46538369
And I don't blame you guys in the slightest. I came perilously close to tearing my hear out as I read the London Quest archives whenever she showed up.
>>
>>46538391
Also, hopefully we get some answers from the Fairies as to why Adrian's High Pixie looks different.

Also, some answers from God as to why the Angel we summoned looks like she just came from a bondage convention.
>>
>>46538409
Quick Angel explanation because I'm getting sleepy. Titania will take care of High Pixie later.

Blindfold with eye stitching
>Ever vigilant, 'Watchers'/Grigori
Bondage equipment, chain
>Guardian angel assigned to only one mortal soul, created for that purpose, attatched forever.
Skimpy clothing
>Angels have no shame, their forms are created by God
>Or this is a form that is the most comforting to mortals.

>Captcha is pancakes
>KEK

>>46538450
Mackay going to be alright?
>>
>>46538391
Why were you almost tearing your hair out? How potentially close to death we were by being near her?
>>
I wanna touch Fitz's Fitzes.
>>
>>46543333
who doesn't?
>>
>>46543333
I wanna eat Victoria's Sushi!

No seriously. No innuendo intended, I could really go for some sushi right now.
>>
>>46544523
Yeah we never did go and get it with her
>>
>>46544566
We haven't really had a break 'on-screen' since we started boot camp. Can't really be helped.
>>
>>46544602
and yet we did the Dnd bit.
>>
>>46544612
Like I said, 'on screen' when we have choices and such.
>>
>>46544624
true but we could done the sushi hunt off screen too.
>>
So what level appropriate demon should we try to get next?
>>
>>46545473
Level tiers change from game to game. Some days Orthus is in the teens, next he is in the 30s. Kaz could fluctuate levels however he wants depending on where we are and what we encounter.

Since we are going to the Fairy Kingdom...I dunno. I want Morrigan, but she is probably too high of a level right now.
>>
>>46545586
Probably, we might be able to swing a Moh Shuvvu or Dryad or Rusalka. Maybe even Nadja.
>>
>>46545644
From a tactical standpoint we could really use a Fire demon. And a demon with Media.
>>
>>46545692
Maybe try to pick up a Hua Po then? Also won't Angel unlock Media eventually?
>>
>>46545813
MacKay has a Hua Po already. We are around the level of a Pyro Jack I think. Not sure if Angel learns Media, probably up to Kaz.
>>
>>46545835
Pyro jack would work, and Angel learning media depends on which game he bases them off of.
