The people of the New Necrotic Armada, the living and the dead, begin to settle into their new home of Iti'a'Ropku. Built in the peaks of the mountain range you were once imprisoned in, the city spread through the valleys and cliffs. Walls of pitted bone and gleaming metal shine in the morning light, sunbeams striking the statue-like forms of the Requiems and Dirges casting dazzling sprays of red light around them.

Colonists walk alongside visiting Stonestar warriors and students, the Osogo introduced to the rough but mostly jovial Legionnaires, Gargoyles and Cyclops perched on top of steepled roofs as they kept watch. A Drake, a large serpentine Reconstructed, dozes on top of the gates of the city watching as the living subjects took hover transports and shuttles to the colony and farms. Already they were hard at work in the crisp winter air to pack up their personal effects and pets to be moved to the Capitol.

At the landing areas outside of the colony Buddy and his hand picked crew of former Daggers and Colonists finish loading up their ship. Captured in Station 88 it had been picked apart, modified, and rebuilt to it's current form. Lightly armed but with deceptively heavy armor and powerful engines the ship was stuffed to the brim with packaged Narcotikelp in its hidden compartments, a Demi-Think Tank accompanying the crew. They make their farewells to Jor who came to see them off and the ship lifts off. Once in orbit a small tear in space appears at its nose and swallows the craft leaving a faint ripple in spacetime in its wake.

The New Necrotic Armada was a changed beast from its ancient precursor. Here and now, the Living had an importance to the greater Armada that it had lacked in the past. You've come to realize that the previous path of the Necrotic Armada and the Undying Court was merely extinction and eventual surrender to entropy and stagnation.

No longer. The Dead only have meaning through their interactions with the Living.

Completed Research:
>Storm Gate: A key of the Ahkam races success as an interstellar power is their ability to transport themselves into FTL but generating a field large enough to transport them and a large amount of friendly ships with good accuracy.
>Anti-Grav Harness: A collection of pads filled with densely packed runes attached to a full-body harness and typically worn under armor allows the Sunscale Scouts to negate the effects of gravity upon their person. This allows for unlimitied ease of movement and safely dropping from the upper atmosphere to the surface with amazing speed and unharmed.
>Sunscale Armors: The Sunscale put a heavy emphasis on their armors. With a wide range of weights and styles to fit their various castes and their vassal races they provided excellent protection against ballistic and thermal weaponry.

Unlocked:
Storm Gate FTL: By focusing and channeling streams of Arc energy this FTL Drive requires an Arc powered individual to generate the Storm field. Appearing as billowing stormclouds the Storm field charges friendly ships and attunes them to the Arc users energy allowing them to follow the main craft as it teleports into a new system. Capable of transporting large amounts of ships in one trip but the larger the fleet the more straining it is on the Arc-user.

Anti-Grav Harness: Jump-pack technology taken to its extreme the Anti-Grav harness bestows the wearer unparalleled freedom of movement, negating the wearers personal gravity. This enables a unit to negate fall damage no matter the height and a resistance to gravity manipulating attacks and effects. Non-energy weapons suffer from increased recoil while under the effects of their negated gravity unless supported against a more solid object. Cost: 15B 10M

Dragonhide: An armor modification that gives the armor a pebble-scaled look granting a resistance to thermal energy and solar based attacks and an immunity to flames. Cannot be equipped with Conductive Armor.

You Generals have been busy after the ceremony of introducing the living to the City of All Souls. The Voidknights and the Predators returning to the Moon to tend to their respective captives.

The Deathshead Guardian sits in meditation, the voidflames barely a flicker around the stump of its upper arm. Glutton Spheres and a Requiem are placed around the room, a single Disciple stationed in the room at all times. Lorgul waits for the Osjiic to awaken, his attempts to rouse it ineffective much to his annoyance as he paced in the room.

As Nekris stands before Dne'tec, the captured Ahkam male, discussing the intricacies of Arc powered technology and the unique abilities gained from their power. The green serpent glowers but reluctantly cooperates, know its fate is sealed for the time being. Blood seeps from it's collar but it ignores it, its wounds healed and scarred over. Eiton was in another chamber, sharpening the curved blades made from the tail-blades of the slain Ahkam juveniles. The bone a powerful conductor for the Arc energy. There were several more laying in a pile, much more than the pair of Undead could wield on their own.

Muic had returned to the Lavafathers moon and Volcano, standing on the shores of volcanic lakes. She stood a silent vigil for her sister, the constant shaking and rumbling of the molten mountain. The Stonestar living in the ever expanding villages around it's base halt their tasks and supplicate themselves as the Lavafather tends to his holy works, their clacking chants nearly lost in the rumble of the mountain.

There was much to do and tend to. What shall you do first?

And an extremely crafting material. That stuff shatters like glass. Mostly because it is a kind of glass.

But it does have use.
You when you cut with an obsidian spiked club some shards will break and leave fragments of obsidian in the body.

Now imagine if that obsidian was necro charged!

We should stop using bones for amo and start using obsidian!
It will only be good against unarmored guys because it can shatter on fucking anything, but if it shatters right it could fuck up anything mechanical by doing the exact opposite lube dose

There is a better way. Let me tell you of volcanic ash.
It takes a little over a foot of it to collapse a rooftop.
If it lands on the leaves of a plant, any plant it will stick to it and block all sunlight.
If someone breaths it in it becomes like cement in your lungs
Even very small amounts can scrap any mechanism completely
And to top it all off it makes for some of the BEST soil to grow plants in.
It is natures reset button

So imagine if we could weaponize it!

You watch from a possessed Stinger as Dominator Valresko paces up and down the rows of cells that held the Sunscale Workers, Scouts and a collection of the vassal races. His eyeless skull turns to stare down the lizards that recoil from the heat rippling off his form. Talons scratch at the floor, the blades of his tail clinking against the metal bars.

In the dim light of the prison he was the brightest source, flames flickering like a sputtering engine from the crest of broken bone at the back of his skull. Stopping before a cell filled with several Workers he stares silently at them for several long moments. Waving a hand the bars slid into the ceiling and the Sunscale retreat even further into the cell, their eyes wide with near panic.

You watch from your Stinger as several others stand ready with paralytic stingwhips should the lizards attempt to flee or attack. Yet the presence of the Reconstructed general, a Solar inferno trapped in a bone and necrotic engine, was enough to petrify them in place.

Calmly lifting a hand a Worker with bronze scales nearly overwhelming their natural green is ripped telekinetically across the room and he snatches the worker by the throat. The Sunscale grips at the arm and kicks, choking in his grasp as flames flicker with increasing potency across his form.

The Workers were generally immune to flames and heat, their caste meant to work in deadly forges and environments but Valresko was no common flame. Possessing the stolen solar powers of a Solar-Blessed Albino he stares at the struggling lizard, his bone helm cracking open into a cruel unmoving grin with flames licking from the gaps.

Calmly he asks the Lizard to divulge the location of the Sunscale fleet but the Worker could barely gasp for air as his metal scales shined in the light of the Dominators flames. He repeats himself as the scales go soft and deform in his grasp.

>>46533293
Using it's draped tail as a swing
>>
>>46533607

Finally a Scout from another cell calls out desperately, telling him to release the Worker and promising to reveal the location. Your Stinger approaches the cell and the green reptile recoils but stands firm, repeating her plea. Your voice emerges from the Reconstructed, startling the prisoners when you demand the location.

The Scout glances at the Worker, the choking lizard managing to make eye contact and shaking their head but the Scout sighs and blurts out the coordinates. Cries of dismay ring through the prison as Dominator Valresko tosses the injured Worker into the arms of its comrades and the bars of the cell slide shut once more.

You thank the Sunscale Scout for her help and you wave your hand. Spouts in the ceiling hiss and flood the room with sedation gas, the shouts quickly silenced and followed by soft thuds and the prisoners fell into a deep sleep.

>Coordinates of Sunscale Fleet discovered. System is near the Blackscale controlled system.

The Armatocere have been keeping to themselves lately, your hidden Eyegore watching their world reporting nothing out of the ordinary as the massive treeships continued their terraforming efforts on the lifeless world in the system. Lakes of melted comet water litter the planet and hardy oxygen enriching mosses spread around the shores and islands.

The Eyegore drifting in the system they had established for contact has slowly drifted over the course of days to draw near to the satellite shaped like a blossom of a colossal flower, petals of reflective skin directed at the star to drink in nutrition as it awaits it's commands calmly. Your own Satellite had neared after spotting a single eye on a stalk aimed at it for a long time before returning to gaze upon the star, intrigued by the living construct. Its own multitude of eyes twitching and blinking and it jerks visibly as you relay a message through it.

Shortly Sapling Slrrt replies, the synthesized voice droning out, "Greetings. We were wondering if your encounter with the Ahkam went well. The silence was not encouraging but their sudden movements and reinforcing of their worlds proved something occurred. We assume it went well?"

You chuckle before replying, "It went...well," you say, "I was wondering if you were open to trade once more or establishing a more permanent arrangement?"

There is silence for a short time before Slrrt replies, "Of course, Jadyk. You have yet to prove a troublesome business partner."

You send your offered list to the Armatocere satellite and you sit back on your Throne as you wait for them to process the list. It takes a surprising amount of time before the floral ambassador responds, "This is quite a bounty you offer for such a small request. We have arrayed a list of technologies you may find interesting."

The Armatocere accept your offered trade and are offering in return:
>Planetary Shields- Powerful projected shields capable of defending an entire city and able to withstand orbital bombardment.
>Cloning- The ability to create a genetic duplicate of a living organism.
>Flash Cloning- The ability to rapidly grow clones of living organisms but at the cost of genetic integrity
>BioDome- Ability to create a habitable zone within otherwise inhospitable environments including the vacuum of space
>Gravity Sensors- Detecting ripples in gravitational waves allows the far off detection of ships, including those otherwise cloaked from detection
>They will compile a list of genetic and living samples of alien species and contact in the future after assembling them.
>They request samples of plant and fungal organisms, much to Slrrts bemusement.

It's less that the tech being offered is so valuable, and more that we offered it in the spirit of furthering genuine ties and bonds to both of our benefit.

They are responding in kind.
>>

I think it's the cleansing of necrotic energy that they find value in. Remember these guys are very vulnerable to that and they have mentioned that they lost a lot to the wraths. Us being able to go to a super necrotic charged place and make it safe for them would be a miracle

It's probably both of these.

I really get the feeling that it isn't that the Armatocere already have supremely good shit, it's just the shit that they DO have is of extreme interest to us and they suffer pretty hard in areas that we excel at, without the reverse being true.

Like, in the two or three months? Years? Since we've been unveiled we already become an excessively potent local power, and we barely have one city and have done a frankly stupid amount of teching up and to the sides in that time frame.
>>
>>46535244
Can we talk about how we are glad to have found them and how they have helped shape our new world view. Talk about just who we where so long ago (they will find out eventually and it's better if we tell them)
>>
>>46535451
When you put it like that their offer for terraforming and cloning does make a lot of sense. We show them how to manipulate the forces of death and in exchange they show us how to manipulate life.
>>
>>46535540

That isn't really necessary anon, if they learn about it they will ask us, and then we will tell them.

Hell, they don't even care that out ships are made of bone and necrotic meat, it's just biomass used in a different way to them.
>>

Anon, the plant people are our maybe-friends and current research and business partners.

They are not our first girlfriend we asked out in elementary school.
>>
>>46535568
Even if we show them that they probably won't be able to make much use of it.
Remember necrotic energy is the keystone of all our tech, and it's like pure death to the plant guys. It's only because we have such good control of it that we even can get close at all to them. So even if they know how to they couldn't use it I think
>>
>>46535244
Impressed by their generosity you gladly accept their offering, almost feeling that you were the one getting the better end of this deal. They send a reply along with a request for another shipment of metal ore as an addendum to their request.

As your Think Tank calculates the cost Slrrt sends a message before you could reply, "The Eldertree would like to request your aid in a...military matter. One of our systems is under constant attack by a a new foe and we believe you would be uniquely suited to this opponent."

The Armatocere are requesting your military aid to deal with a new enemy.

"Tell me of these enemies," you say, intrigued. You idly send a command to the mines and stockpiles, loaders setting aside a large amount of metal ore to be transported.

>Sending 250,000M

A message comes through with images and data on starships and fighters engaged with Armatocere craft. Including Sub-capitols with a handful of Capitols, the ships shared design similarities with the Confederate ships you've seen but they were...cruder and more menacing.

What struck you as interesting was the data on the ships weapons, among them necrotic beams similar in function to your Flayers and missiles attuned to necrotic energy or loaded with a virulent herbicidal poison seemingly genetically tailored against them. The Armatocere were taking heavy and surprising losses against the attackers and barely managing to hold onto their grasp on the system.

Slrrt's mechanized voice reaches through the comm, "As you can see, this is proving to be a desperate situation. The Eldertrees await your answer."

Send aid to the Armatocere?

So, we have planetary shields now.

Now, I know they only cover cities, and presumably have a great many emitters, capacitors and dedicated reactors to them over a large distance, but I really want to see if they can be simultaneously compacted down while increasing their range so we can have dedicated Umbrella-shield ships in our fleets to soak up long-range fire so our actual warships can get stuck in with fresh shields.

Or hell, if we ever get wireless energy transfer down to combat times and with very little loss or interference, actively have support ships with a half-dozen reactor-equivalents constantly transferring and refreshing our ships.
>>
>>46536259
A screen flashes at the corner of your sight and you glance at it as you speak with the Armatocere.

Images show the jovian world within your home system with the ever expanding fuel harvesting factories on the moons several light minutes away from the Charnel Vault. A handful of Dagger Sub-Capitols skip into the system in orbit of the gas giant.

You did not even have to send an order before the collection of Terrordromes orbiting the moons of the refinery planets opened fire and sliced through the ships. Pleased with their efficiency the small patrol was cut to ribbons and already ships move in to salvage and capture the few escape pods that made it free. It seemed the Daggers finally got around to searching for their lost Clanship and fleet but it had only been a light cruiser and a few frigates to appear, likely a scouting party.

Destroyed:
>1 Dagger Light Cruiser
>3 Dagger Frigates

Captured:
>10 Dagger Pirates

With that minor annoyance settled you turn your attention back to the Armatocere ambassador, "As my troops prepare, I thought I'd ask a few things. For instance, if you have ever heard of me before our meeting. Or the Necrotic Armada," you start off simply. You figure you might as well clear out the figurative and somewhat literal skeletons in the closet if you were to pursue diplomatic ties with the floral power.

Perhaps to turn us against each other? Unknown but hopefully pointless. The Eldertrees hope that our forces can be...peaceful and respective of our boundaries at the least."

You are once again surprised by their openness even after their warning of the Maskeds fury in that ravaged system. With your ships preparing to depart you give off the final orders then turn back to the conversation, "I thank your willingness to trust me so readily. It is quite...refreshing," you say with a chuckle, "My forces are departing shortly to provide the aid you require along with the shipment of ore."

"Thank you Jadyk. The Eldertrees are immensely grateful for your assistance. Our ships will retreat to defensive positions around the worlds and moons and provide what aid we can," The Sapling Slrrt disconnects the line and you stand in the bridge of the Charnel Vault.

The fleet assembles and awaits your orders.

So I just realized that we are on the cusp of reaching a truly post-scarcity civ.

Like, if we could convert energy into biomass or metal we would have infinite resources, because almost every single one of our power sources, with the exception of Arc energy, is virtually limitless.

On one hand you got Necrotic energy, which is self-sustaining, the Void which draws upon another presumably infinite set of energies, only stymied by the bottleneck, Solar which appears to be almost conceptual in nature, and Magma-Daddy's set of energy, which is also nigh-infinite.
>>

168 KB
168 KB JPG
>>46536743
But that's not how mass-Relays work. Mass relays effect your mass by making it be zero or even a negative thus allowing for almost unlimited propulsion.

What our experimental drives do is take the skip drives ability to jump from gravity well to gravity well and the void drives ability to make gravity wells to create a wave of spacetime that we glide on. Very very fast and accurate

Only problem is void drives can make gravity wells, they are not so good at unmaking them. That's where this new tech comes in. With a non void wad of generation anti gravity we can safely control the strength of the gravity well.

Over all effect would be like pic related

But turning the universe undead was the goal of the old armada and we now see that it was a surrender to entropy.

What we would need to do is figure out a way to wait out the heat death and hope Steven Hawking is right and that a super fuck long time after the heat death. When even time isn't working right. Matter will start popping into existence for sone reason. The more matter the more space. The more space the more time. The more time the more matter pops in. The overall effect being disturbingly similar to the Big Bang. Again.

So we just need to set our empire out of the universe, unaffected by time.
Have a waiting contest with entropy and win it.
Use our power to bring our empire back.
>>

If anyone want to add something, use these numbers.
>>
>>46537989

>>
>>46538053

>>
>>46537989

>>46537625
Truthfully it's a horrible idea imagine a room of people being born only to after waking be drained of life over an over again.

On a separate but similar idea we could use this to greatly boost the necrolyte legions and more importantly if we cloned say, Jor would his clones also contain the spark to be a necromancers? Does the same apply to the other elements? Just think we train abnecromancer and then clone an army of them the quire filled instantly

I have a dream of our flagship arriving in system blaring the hymns of the chitin choir across all channels installing fear in our enemies and enhancing our units

"Hey Jor we got you some assistants!"

Memories are no duplicated with a clone. If you intend to create clones the Think Tanks are able "program" them.

You currently have no way of transferring memories from a subject into a clone without the death of the donor through NID extraction though future research could lead to advancements in that area.

The Confederate commander has been imprisoned in the moons prison waiting for your attention. He feels insulted about being forgotten aboutand his pleas for negotiations ignored.

If we cloned Jor, would the clone also have the necromancer spark?

Also what kind of intelligence are clones at? child, adult, teenager.

Can we clone the Arkham and Sunscale?
I think we could have our own army of lizards and snakes to join the legion/ guard perhaps we could set up a clone college to help educate and indoctrinate them. Or can say, we program them using Nid'd information that we can pick and choose for instance, nid a Sunscale. program their fighting style and Religous Zealoutry, how ever modify the Worship to that of Jaydk and the worm star with our current "Serve the living and the dead" mantra

We want them as individuals who are happy to live and serve the Armada
>>
You know what, mention of the short-range teleportation got me thinking, and I came up with a potential unit for a future battles. I am not sure about the state of our grav-weaponry now, but if/when it will be powerful enough, we should make a heavily armored and shielded ship loaded with ion-cannons, anti-small craft turrets and some grav-beams. It would be able to jump into midst of the enemy ships and send their formations into disarray, disabling engines and pulling ships into each others lines of fire, spinning, and all around unable to efficiently shoot back, allowing our own fleets to launch a powerful attack, taking the punishment there, and teleporting back.

Also, would be pretty cool to have a mind-reading technology that doesn't end with death. We could take the knowledge from the captured scientists and engineers without killing them, and, more importantly, read the minds of our hero units candidates and learn their secrets and relations and stuff (or at least get a good bonus in the interrogations), while still being able to turn them into hero units afterwards. I say Think Tanks should start perfecting our old method.

It is unknown if a clone will contain a spark with the potential of necromancer, voidsinger, etc. until you attempt it.

But what if we splice out the gene that limits growth

Or if we make a fast formed clone of a fast formed clone until the result has super cancer every where. Thus making it grow very very fast. It won't live long, but we don't need it to. We just need it to live long enough to get big

It will look like a horrible monster but isn't that the point?

The Blackscale split their attentions to assist your Think Tanks in their assigned tasks. Beqor sits with a Think Tank on the Pestilence and a few of the undead Diver Sunscale discussing the matters of the stealth technology. Already Think Tanks in your home system begin to work on prototypes in the research labs of the scorched planet.

Guir and Raakah work with a group of Think Tanks at a Cauldron system, a pile of Sunscale corpses placed in the corner. They take the bodies and seal them within the glass chambers before a deluge of Cauldron fluid fills the chamber from the glass pipes above. The very biology and essence of the Sunscale resist the efforts to Reconstruct them, unable to replicate the success of Valreskos creation much to their collective frustration. Yet there is progress in the fact that their already reanimated Sunscale can be repaired by the Cauldrons to an extent. The Blackscale were frustrated but they had quite the reservoir in terms of material for their experiments, an undead Diver dragging a bloodless Worker to the glass chambers.

A Think Tank on Rukor sends you a message, saying that the ructu council of elders in their largest city had gathered the chieftains and leaders of the various villages and cities. They went into seclusion in an underground complex only to emerge recently and approach the Reconstructed standing guard over the former Ahkam soldiers as they worked. The ructu council of elders wish to meet those in charge, partially to deliver official gratitude for the aid in food and repairs and to ascertain the true intentions of the strange alien force.

Jor and Red-Leaf-Strains walk the streets of Iti'a'Ropku, discussing the matter of sending envoys to invite the other Osogo herds. Jor recommending shuttles to transport the alphas to see for themselves the city and Red-Leaf-Strains' herd already among them. The matriarch replies that the other herds should not have it so easy, reminding him of the trials of her own tribe.

Yes Jor has been spending time with his personal Demi-Think Tank working on the basics of learning the Wormstars language and runes. He's picking it up rather quickly though he is literally learning a newdead language so the progress is slow but steady. The Dreamstone in the capitol will help his learning as well, able to continue his study in his subconscious mind.

>>46550519
It is possible but they would be genetic clones and would lead to severe inbreeding if they were to attempt to reproduce.

Within the moons rather large prison complex awaited a collection of Confederate officers, the highest ranked among them a decorated Vorh by the name of Captain Dretst. One of her main eyes was long-lost and replaced by a lens of crystal that glinted in the light of her cell, her chitin smooth with age.

Separated from the other officers she picked at her plate of cooked kelp, eel and alien fruits delivered earlier by a Talon. Her head snaps up, finally noticing Nekris standing before the bars of her cell, dark cloak made from a Dagger tapestry draped over his form. She'd nearly dropped her food when she recoiled at his seemingly sudden appearance and places the tray to the side to glower at the undead.

"Khh- how long have you been there?" she accuses with a harsh click of her mandibles.

"Does it matter?" the General asks. In fact he'd been standing before her cell for several minutes, watching as she was lost in thought and not noticing the motionless undead.

Scoffing she stands to approach the bars, shorter than her captor but she was not intimidated by him. This intrigued Nekris more than surprised him as she glares at him silently before speaking with a click, "Khh- I am Captain Dretst of the Confederacy of Planets. You are breaking several conventions by holding us here like this and I demand parlay to discuss our ransom and eventual release."

The deep laughter of the Predator answers her demands and she falters for a moment before regaining her composur but Nekris halts her with a raised hand, "I'm afraid, for you and your people, that we have signed no treaties or adhere to any conventions of your Confederacy. You are alive because it amuses my Master. You are alive because your knowledge may prove useful. You are alive because your future is not set and you may yet live longer if you cooperate," the Vorh looks mildly distressed and Nekris continues, "I am the Predator Nekris and I will be handling your interrogation. Let us begin shall we?"
>>
>>46553587
What shall you ask of Captain Dretst?
>>
>>46553587
Why are they here? What is a station doing in the middle of nowhere? Why were they under attack when we first saw them? Will there be an investigatory fleet any time soon? >>
>>46553587
For some reason I half expect her to say Baka

Anyway let's ask why there where cyborgs on the station, the location of any and all confederate worlds/recourses, and her dress size (I'm already shipping them)

>>46553895

It'd be nice if we could eventually absorb Confederacy worlds without having intense and permanent guerrilla resistance, so let's feel out what the Confederacy's cultural values are, especially towards necrotic energies.

Do Confederacy citizens generally know that the military has been experimenting with necrotic-powered cyborgs? If not, what would they think of necrotic energies and reanimation/reconstruction of the dead in general?

Where did the Confederacy get the knowledge of necrotic energies needed to make their cyborgs?

"First of all, tell me about yourself and your ranking in the Confederacy. Why would they send you to retake the system and Station 88?" he asks simply to start.

Clicking her mandibles silently as she composes herself before speaking curtly and professionally, "As I said, I am Captain Dretst in the Confederate Navy. I was sent to retake the system, Station 88 and the planet in particular. Details were classified as to why."

"Not good enough. Now tell me the importance of Station 88 and why both the Osjiic Empire and unknown cyborgs were so invested in that system," he reiterates and takes a step to the bars, Arc light flashing from his four keen eyes, "I know there is more to that planet, the Osjiic and your allies both revealed the Confederacy is hiding something on the surface and you'll tell me what that is," he glances down the long prison to where the other Confederate officers pressed against the bars, straining to watch and hear their conversation, "Or you may find yourself short on surviving friends."

Letting out a sigh she shakes her head and scratches where the crystal lens sets against chitin, "Officially the planet and station are a mining and metal processing outpost. Purely resource generation but..." she looks around the alien prison then to the undead construct standing before her, "There were rumors..."

Nekris' keen hearing could hear the pair of hearts the Vorh possessed spike and he growls, a hand gripping a bar and electricity popping at his touch, "Do not lie to me," he says firmly and glares at her until she breaks eye contact and looks to the ground.

"There are alien ruins on the planet. Old ruins, pre-Confederacy, maybe even pre-Alliance. I don't know what's in them or where, just that I was supposed to liberate the planet and avoid orbital strikes," she finally admits and Nekris could feel the shame seeping through the domination spike in her neck.

Nodding the General releases his grasp and folds both pairs of arms under his cloak once more, "See? Much easier. I would like to know if the Confederacy will send more ships to investigate and retake the system, any idea?"

"If contact is lost with a fleet that fails to report back in they are assumed in trouble, khh- and a rescue fleet will be sent. If both fleets fail to return then they are assumed lost and common procedure is to attempt further investigation with spy probes and the like," she rubs at her face and mumbles at herself then looks to Nekris, "Will my soldiers be alright? How many survived?"

Nekris tilts his head at her show of concern but waves a hand dismissively, "They will not be tortured too badly and hardly maimed. They will live if they cooperate, they will die if they resist. They will serve either way," he says and ignores her questioning look before continuing, "I know the Confederacy uses cyborg troops powered by Necrotic energy, I would like to know more about those. How long has the Confederacy been using them and where did they gain this technology?"

"The khh- cyborgs? They've always been a badly kept secret of the military, at least as long as I've been alive. They are sent in when loss of life would be unacceptable or even the fact that being alive would be a liability like hostile planets and environments. They don't admit it, kh- but a lot of the workers in the deep levels of the shipyards, the few times I went down far enough, they were clearly cyborgs as well. No optics or faceplate in their enviro-suits," she shrugs once more, "And as for Necrotic energy? You mean Entropic?"

Nekris sighs and waves a hand, "Semantics I'm sure. But tell me, Captain Dretst. How does the Confederacy and its people view reanimation and the reconstruction of the dead?"

>cont
>>
>>46555214
Dretst clicks her mandibles, "The old Alliance -khk- forbid the art of necromancy but they are thousands of years gone. The Confederacy arose from its ashes, unbound by its archaic laws. The dead are dead and no longer who they were. Meat and wasted space. Confederate standards are processing in protein factories, cremation, or organ donor, or Cyborg volunteer as the grunts called it. All soldiers are required to be organ donors."

"Fascinating," Nekris says. Perhaps it would be easier to convince the Confederates of the benefits of becoming undead than he had thought. Ignoring her look he motions to a Demi-Think Tank to approach and the sphere of bone and metal drifts over, "I have one thing I'd like to ask your opinion on," the Demi-Think Tank projects a holographic screen that begins to flip through the images sent by the Armatocere of their strange attackers, "What do you know of these?"

Captain Dretst clearly seemed to recognize them, stepping up to the bars and clicking her mandibles with an angry spit, "A separatist faction that broke way from the Confederacy several decades ago. The United Outer Nations, a collection of worlds inspired by the Yuyut race. Militaristic and ruthless they constantly launch raids against us when not defending against Osjiic incursions. They use similar technology to us, stealing weapons and retrofitting their ships after each battle with salvaged tech. They openly use cyborgs and combat drones in warfare."

The screen flickers shut and Nekris nods, wondering why the Armatocere hadn't mentioned this United Outer Nations as the attackers but he waves it off. Instead he looks to the Vorh once more, "I am supposed to extend you an offer, Captain Dretst. A choice rather. Life serving in this Armada or death, in which your corpse will be rendered down and in a way, you will still serve this Armada. The choice is the simplest you will make in your existence. Life or Death. Your choice."
>>
>>46555259
Nekris makes a good interrogator.
>>
>>46555259
Captain Dretst has chosen to follow the commands of the Armada for now. Her and her officers are transported to a more hospitable prison in Iti'a'Ropku until they can have work assigned to them in the eventual hope of having them join the Legion.

Captain Dretst carried no spark of potential for a hero unit, her skill gained from years of service and a shrewd military mind rather than natural or supernatural ability.

The sky of Rukor is darkened by a second vast shadow as the Charnel Vaul appears in orbit. The Fury of the Wormstar, sailing in the upper atmosphere drifts past with a lazy greeting as it gazes down on the villages of ructu below.

A Coffin descends to the largest of the ructu cities, a metropolis built in the delta of a great river leaving the sole continent and dumping into the ocean. Walls of clay and stone surround portions of the city, docks and piers sticking out into the water where ructu tended to their ships and prepared for night, the prime fishing time for shoals of squid and eels that rise to the surface.

The lone Coffin is hardly noticed, melding in with the other craft transporting workers and supplies to the projects the former Ahkam toiled on. Wave breaking walls are raised in the shallows, channels allowing ships to pass unhindered. Meant to protect against hurricane waves they had the unintended effect as traps when the tide recedes leaving crustaceans and worms easy picking for ructu children and elderly to scoop up as they walked the shallows.

It was when the bay doors of the Coffin open and your throne descends, glittering in the light of lowering sun and sending a burst of red color as the light strikes the Dirges. Ructu, Reconstructed and Ahkam soldiers pause and turn to look up as you pass overhead for the domed building the Council and various village elders and chieftains awaited.

>cont
>>
>>46556221
The building clearly extended below the hard clay ground but doors large enough for you pass uncrouched lay open with ructu dressed in ceremonial trappings and their shells painted in yellows and blues waiting for your arrival.

The Throne sets down and you stand, the Ructu bowing their heads before motioning for you to follow and inviting you to join them in their main hall. With Kyn'tk resting inside your ribcage, coiled around the wooden mask you feel no fear as you step into the darkness.

Within was a simple room with a handful of ructu scattered about but at the sight of your imposing form they scurry down towards several sets of stairs in the floor. Following the creatures that barely came above your hip down the narrow steps you enter a surprisingly large circular room. Levels of seats were arranged around the edges, most filled with an assortment of ructu. A podium raised on one side seated six ructu, their bodies painted with purples and blues and ceremonial garb made from the skin of Krysser and hunter squid.

The ructu stand as you enter then resume their seats at a word from one of the Council members, the room quickly filled with the buzz of conversation. The same Council member stays standing and they bow their head, short antennae waving, "We welcome you, Jadyk. Welcome to Rukor. The others wish to say something before we begin," they say and motion to the crowd and their voices rise louder, a chorus of thanks and praise for the liberation from the Ahkam tithes and the aid provided during the harsh hurricane months.

Another Council member raps on the table with a coiled shell to quiet the others then looks to you, "Again, from this Council and city, we give our thanks for our freedom and your aid."

>The Ructu Council of Elders have expressed their gratitude for freeing them of the Ahkam oppression.

What shall you speak with them about?
>>
>>46556246
It is no problem, I did what any decent entity would do given the chance. Speak to them of their race joining our armada proper, Like the Lavafather or Dark Scales. As well as their industrialization and further prosperity.
>>
>>46556246
Tell them how we found their race to have unique gift (necromancy) which would help bolster or power and how we would want to cultivate it with their blessing. We will build a vast city on their world, an impressive capital, where the chosen Ructu could come to learn of our ways and add to our legion.
>>
>>46556246
We want to tell them about the other worlds that have come under our control, and of the various species of living subjects that have found a place in our empire. We want to help the Ructu as we have helped others, and hope that they will eventually join us among the stars as part of our empire. All who join us willingly will be given our protection and free access to our knowledge and help, in return for joining us and serving in life and in undeath.

Speaking of that, we should also broach the topic of Reconstructed and undeath. We consider the living and the undead to have an important relationship, and hope that they can come to appreciate undeath as we have come to appreciate life.

That might be a big deal for them. They've seen our Reconstructed, but I'm not sure they've ever really known that they are undead creations and what that means.

>>46556560
Making a more permanent and prominent outpost on Ructu could be good, if they accept it. We have a base there but IIRC it's mostly underwater. There's also the dreamstone pillars already in the center of the major formerly-Akham-controlled villages.
>>
>>46556246
Just tell them what plans we had for them and if they have any suggestions on how we could make them better.

While Ahkam found little use in their race, we can see the potential. Even as weak ass their bodies are, they could be brought up to par with the power armors and perhaps have support roles.
>>
>>46556246
Tell them of our capital city and how we'd like a sizeable population of Ructu to make permanent living there among other races. Show images of we can.

>Ask them how*

>>46556246
Bowing your head to return the gesture of good will you take a seat on a low bench that may actually be a table, the rest of the still standing ructu taking their seats as well, "I am gladdened by your welcome. I only did what was right in driving off the Ahkam. They sought to exploit you all and steal the bounty of your world. I have no illusions. This is your world and I seek to help you improve and defend it so you may live in peace."

There is scattered muttering among the crowd but the general mood seems optimistic but one of the Council members frowns with a downturning of their mouthparts before they chirp out, "There is no denying the aid you have given but how can we be sure of your intentions? You could be attempting to step into the serpents place of power and we have no desire for another false god," they accuse with suspicion thick in the air.

"I understand your concerns. I seek nothing from you, nothing physical or material. I seek only a chance, a chance to share my gifts and knowledge with your people. No longer will you go hungry or live in fear of the hurricanes. My New Necrotic Armada pledges itself to your protection from outside interference. I only seek this chance, noble elders and chieftains, should you find it in your hearts to accept," the room is a sudden den of chattering and chirping ructu, the Council leaning in as they discuss among themselves.

Finally the shell is struck on the table and the din quiets, a Council member leaning forward, a beak of a hunter squid perched on her head like some bizarre crown, "Why do you do this for us? We have had the dreams, dreams of you and this Armada of yours. Why waste your time on the likes of us? The Ahkam had no real need for us, only our food and oceans. Why do you care?" she asks simply.

>cont
>>
>>46557317
Spreading your hands as you stand you gaze around the room and the collected ructu, "Why? I do this because I can and because I believe your people have a great potential within them. Potential for great works and magnificent stories. The Ructu people intrigue me and I wish to see you all protected. From threats below the waves like the Beast, Kryssers and Squids. From threats beyond like the Ahkam and the other unfriendly denizens," you pause and collect your thoughts, "I do this because I dream of your people joining mine and reaching for the stars to show the glory of the Ructu."

The quiet talking grows even more active until an Elder in the stands arises, "Invite them! They saved the lives of my fishers and killed the Ahkam soldier that struck down my son." you recognize him as the village elder of those ructu your coffin saved so long ago when you first sent scouts to the planet. You bow your head in recognition and he returns the gesture as the cry is picked up by other elders.

It takes the council several seconds of shouting to quiet the gathering and the original doubter of your motives speaks, "Very well. We accept your protection and aid, but only if we hear what it is you plan? We once blindly accepted the words of a power from the Sea of Stars and that ended poorly."

A Demi-Think Tank that had shadowed you drifts forward and projects a large hologram of the Iti'a'Ropku, the Ructu exclaiming in wonder at the sight, "If you would allow, I would like to bring volunteers to visit my home and meet my people. They can show and share with you what I could bring to Rukor. With your permission I would craft a city here on Rukor where the ructu people could come to learn and advance. My gift to you, the people of Rukor, is knowledge and chance to sail your ships within the Sea of Stars."

The council chamber is once again a cacophony of shouting and discussion. This continues for some time and you don't bother to follow the myriad of conversation threads, mentally occupying yourself with ship orders and troop creations as you waited. Finally the thumping of the shell breaks your reverie and you look expectantly to the Council.

"Very well, Jadyk the Lich. We invite you and your Armada to our world but we would like to visit and see your home before we allow you to build in ours."

>The Ructu have officially invited the Armada to Rukor.
>The Ructu are sending an ambassador group to visit Horizon's Drop and Iti'a'Ropku to judge the Armada and it's worthiness.

Of course.

Tell Jor to prepare for the new arrivals and to accommodate them. We are certain that he will manage to leave a good impression on them.

Have a think tank share all the info on Ructu that we have.

Probably because we are a totalitarian dictatorship and the one in control has no need for material wealth of fear his subjects opposing him. Our entire race except for the living subjects is merely extension of our will.
Makes it easy to be nice and benevolent

>If contact is lost with a fleet that fails to report back in they are assumed in trouble, khh- and a rescue fleet will be sent

We should prepare for this with bajillion emp crit-crawls. Would be better if we could capture more of them alive.

No anon. We are not necrotic, for that is an extension of death.
In our past we where death destruction and entropy
Then can the cell of silence. Cleansing our mind of memory, of evil
Now reborn we bring life as well as death.
We are balance
We are the end that is the beginning

And I am high as fuck
