Let's ease back into the swing of things, shall we? If feels good to be back.

---

It has been an hour since Phi informed you that the city of Termat would be at risk to a squadron of AATs equipped with both defoliator cannons and nuclear bombs. Phi explained the whole situation to you. Major Bandit's forces had lost their engagement with the Separatist tanks - fortunately with minimum losses - and were now stalking the squadron through the forest, unable to engage due to poor terrain for an ambush.

The detachment of speeders that were sent back to reinforce against the Nationalist ambush succeeded in repelling the forces, pursuing them deeper into the forest as Phi carefully disengaged the AT-TE from the fallen tree. During the speeders' counterattack supported by Old Man's surprise rocket barrage, the Nationalist Saber tanks were either destroyed or forced to retreat. Old Man's TX-130 was repaired while he and his crew were treated for their injuries.

The platoon of BARC speeders and Old Man's tank were escorting you the rest of the way to the city, moving at the best speed possible.

6th Platoon had suffered a handful of serious injuries and more than a few minor wounds, but the Master Sergeant had informed you that the troopers would be ready for action when they were needed.

While the troopers around you had begun to passionately proclaim that they would personally engage the enemy tanks in order to save the Loyalist city, Phi reported that the squadron of AATs could not be caught up with because of the delay the ambush caused and the rough terrain between your forces and the Separatist tank squadron.

At this point is when Twitch had spoken up, stating that they would all arrive to see Termat burning and there would be nothing they could do about it.

You are First Lieutenant Jinx, CT-42/458, currently self-relieved of duty because of your concussion (which one of 6th Platoon medics had administered an accelerated treatment for, with the orders to rest up until morning), and laying behind the heads of your infantrymen. You feel the injected bacta and stimulants course through your veins, having kept you awake so that the concussion could not drag you into a coma if you fell unconscious again.

Night has fallen on the planet of Jabiim, the muted tapping of heavy rain is echoing against the dorsal armor, and the inner hull of the AT-TE is silent except for the groans of the sleeping wounded and the shuffling of armor. Twitch's comment had drained 6th Platoon of all enthusiasm, and your crew has not spoken on the private comm channel.

Your mind is still somewhat warped from the effects of the concussion and the stimulants, but you feel your senses return to you.

You gaze around at your troopers, your men.

You watch as the demoralized clones sit slouched and forlorn, and you can understand their sense of fatalistic defeatism.

They are your men, and you are their Commander. In this moment, your brothers need you to be a Good Commander.

> Orders?
>>
>>46618711
Can we warn Termat so they can send out some units to intercept the AAT's before they get within range to use the nukes?
>>
>>46618765
You can do plenty of things; right now if the first time Jinx is more or less completely aware of his surroundings and his ability to think since the Jetpack trooper had bashed his brain around.

Open ended option sections like this are intentional: What is the character thinking of doing as he returns to reality, hm?
>>
>>46618711
> Orders?
Do the professional thing, of course!

only we knew what that was...
>>
>>46618711
Gwt in touch with Phi and see what the current situation is with command. If he hasn't done that yet do it.

Also good to see you back.
>>
>>46618836
Ok, we should congratulate our troops on getting through an ambush like that relatively unscathed. Then try and radio Termat about the tanks. Check in with Phi about the status of AT-TE 7330.
>>
>>46618711

Check in with Phi for a status update and if possible send a warning to Termat.
>>
>>46618711
Ok Do the obvious thing and get one comms, warn Termat that nukes are coming and that we are unable to engage. Keep this message short and to the point, have it contain the direction they were coming from, estimated numbers and how long they have. Keep it on a nice automated loop for a while if they don't respond since in this weather and this location will make comms a bitch, try to make sure Bandit and his men are doin ok too.

Make sure our own Walker is in good enough condition to continue and get the general feel of the crew itself (Phi should be most helpful)

Otherwise back here with our boys begin a gradual encouragement, we still have a job to do and by the Force we are the Clones who will see it done, the Separatists will rue the day they tangled with us.

We have a mission to complete, we are a good commander, a good soldier.

Alright, the trend of votes are to get back into commanding: Try and contact Termat and warm them about the incoming tanks (if necessary), get a status report on the AT-TE (And presumably the Saber), and give some encouragement to 6th platoon. Agreeable?

Feel free to [Write in] the encouragement you want to give your troopers after a hard day's work.

Writing away.
>>
>>46619202
can we also ask Crusader what happened to us and our glorious moment before we get to the commanding bit?

as for actual encouragement, maybe how we foiled their perfect ambush, how that the enemy may be outbalanced now, they are underestimating the [our battle group here], we will show them how dearly this mistake will cost them, mention that we are the fist of the Republic, the light in the dark, we are honor in chaos, we will endure and we will be victories, are you with me brothers? [at this point hope for a cheer]
>>
>>46619312
You can ask Crusader about that (And other things) soon, now it's time for the Commander to Command.

Gentleman, fine job today. I'm not going to lie, this was a tight spot and for a minute there I was figuring out how to take down as many of those bastards with us as we could. But you guys did me one better, you stayed professional, you kept in your lanes, and you drove those Nationalist fuckers back. Probably even saving my life in the process. Take a rest boys, I am going to figure out our next move.

Anyone else excited for a possible ARC Trooper quest?

Good to see you back man!
>>
A Good Commander must always be aware of the overall situation, and you currently have no information or communication with any friendly forces in the area. A city of Loyalists is in danger, and you need to do everything in your power to save them from destruction.

As prop your elbow against the medical table against your back and push yourself up, grunting with exertion, your motionless troopers all swivel towards you. Immediately a nearby medic springs up from his chair and says, "Hey there Commander, take it easy." He places a firm hand on your chest. "You got banged up real bad back there, sir. Take it easy."

Your throat rasps as you try to chuckle, forcing you to cough instead. With your free hand you wave at the medic and after a second of indecision sends him scurrying over to the equipment locker to grab a canteen of water. You push yourself fully upright and gratefully accept his proffered water.

You take a long drink from the metal canteen, the fluids revitalizing your dry throat, and with a contented gasp you rest it against your thigh armor.

The platoon of men is staring at you, and behind them you see Crusader looking back around his gunnery seat. You take a moment to lock your eyes with the viewports of every trooper's helmet. You note the scorch marks on their armor and how mud was still splattered across many of your brothers. What had once been a bunch of shiny new armor was now caked in the aftereffects of battle.

You understand why Twitch called you a shiny.

After a second longer of solemn staring you crack a tired smirk, stating in a low voice, "Gentlemen, fine job today. Damn fine job."

> probably an hour or so till the next update
I would say that was rude, but we all know it's true.

At least when I finally do post, it'll be a decently huge update. Enjoyable stuff too, I hope.
>>
>>46620952
The troopers sat in exhausted silence, not reacting to your words. You pat your hand on the nearest sitting trooper's helmet, letting the dull click be heard through the room before continuing.

"I am not going to lie, that was a tight spot and for a minute there I did not know how that was going to go." You pause as you rub your brother's helmet, letting your words sink in. "But despite what I am sure the Nationalist's considered a 'perfect ambush,'" You lift your hand from the trooper's helmet and point to your men. "You showed them to not underestimate the Grand Army of the Republic, and now their forces are cast in retreat because of *your* actions this day."

The clones of 6th Platoon are now all reacting to your words, looking from you to each other as energy returns to your troops.

"They are off balanced now because of how professional you all were in the face of their surprise assault. Soon, we will take the fight to them." You let your hand fall, your meager energy already drained. "Take a rest now boys, I am going to figure out out next move."

At your words your troopers all give you a sharp salute, and a resounding chorus of "Sir, yes sir!" fills the hull.

You respond with a salute of your own. "At ease, men." You turn to the medic to your left. "I need my helmet back, please. I assume you put it somewhere?"

"Um," The medic glances towards the back of the AT-TE. "I do not have i-"

"LIEUTENANT!" The joyous yell is quickly followed by Cardinal colliding into you with a hug, your helmet clacking against your chest piece. "Sir, I kept your helmet safe after you fell asleep because we were scared you would have never woken up!" As Cardinal speaks rapidly you see Crusader climb up from his seat and move towards you.

"Yes, yes, Cardinal, thank you," You say through clenched teeth, reaching up for your helmet as the trooper tightens his hold. "I appreciate your service, and-" There, you wrap a hand around the tubes of your helmet-

> [Cont.]
>>
>>46620984
In the next moment, you are freed from the Private's grasp. You take a second to catch your breath before noting that Crusader stands beside you, looming over the now nervous trooper. You quickly put on your helmet, taking careful time to attach the hoses to the chest piece.

"Private." You hear Crusader say over your crew's private comm channel. His normally booming voice is cold and sharp, and goosebumps ripple across your body as he continues, "The Commander is wounded, and does not need your childish actions to cause him further harm."

Crusader leans in a fraction closer, which causes the jittery Cardinal to flinch back.

"You know what I will do if you cause harm to the Commander, shiny." The last word was spat as an insult. The red striped trooper nods hurriedly.

"Good." Crusader turns his back to Cardinal, which he takes as his cue to quickly move back to his gunnery position. To his side you see Jackpot shaking his head.

"Commander!" Crusader booms through his external microphone. "I see that the eternal glory of Mandalore has not claimed you from us yet!" He gently clasped a hand on your shoulder. His viewport locks with your eyes, and you can feel his serious gaze in the moment of silence you share.

He nods to you, releasing you from his grip and silently returning to his seat. As you watch him go the troopers around him are all busy scrubbing their armor, tuning their weapons, and generally being sociable as you hear conversations about the last battle breaking out among them.

You would smile if Crusader had not acted so oddly just then. Why is he acting so differently all of the sudden?

"Hey Lieutenant," Phi interrupts your thoughts. "Sounds like you rallied the troops, good job."

"Thank you." You comm back. Without pausing you press on. "I need a status report on AT-TE 7330, I need to know if we are battle ready."

> [Cont.]
>>
>>46621009
"That's easy enough to answer sir." Phi pauses. "Looks here that, other than minor damage to the fore right leg joint, we suffered nothing more than scratches on our paint in that last fight. The new armor held up surprisingly well, especially when the belly was withstanding those Saber tanks."

"What about the damage to the leg?" You ask. "Will it impede our movement capabilities at all?"

"Well, it would be a bad idea for us to go leaping onto any Seppie tanks, if that's what you mean." Phi says. "It shouldn't take more than a couple hours repair time out in the field like this, but, well." Phi trails off.

You nod to yourself. You all know why you cannot stop right now.

"Looks like we will simply have to be cautious in the future. What's the situation with Major Bandit?"

This time Twitch chimes in. "Yeah, Jinx, jhe damned fool contacted us about 20 minutes ago, saying he was going to stage a serious ambush on the AATs. Suicidal as always, damned light infantrymen, always trying to go for glo-"

"He is out of contact as of right now, Lieutenant." Phi talks over Twitch as he devolves into muttering over the comms. "Not like we'll be able to lend any support, at this pace."

Taking on a squadron of AATs with speeders and AT-RTs? Bandit is an experienced commander, but that may be extremely dangerous for him and his men.

Then again, those tanks getting in range of the city would also be dangerous, and Loyalists would be the target.

You push the thoughts aside for now. "Phi, have you informed the forces at Termat about the defoliator cannons?"

The comm channel is silent.

"Sergeant?" Your tone is devoid of emotion.

No response.

You Wait.

Xtreme begins to giggle. "Wait, wait, Phi," He gets out between breaths.

"Shut up X." Phi deadpans.

"The first time you've, I mean, ever commanded-"

"Xtreme, shut up."

"The very thing you told us, you told us, all the time back in the day,"

"X."

"That you ALWAYS wanted to be, and,"

"I will pommel you if you continue."

"And you FORGOT TO GET IN CONTACT WITH COMMAND?" Xtreme explodes into laughter. "I thought that was, like, Rule 1 of Offisuh training, and, and, an-" Xtreme loses his ability to speak as the laughter overtakes him.

Phi is silent.

Twitch stops his murmuring and chimes in while Xtreme is taking a breath. "Good job, nitwit. Even the Shiny did a better job than you, and he went all-"

"Twitch." Crusader cuts the trooper off. "Please refrain from interrupting the Commander anymore."

"Yeah, yeah," Twitch waves over at Crusader. "Whatever, you big scary brute. No fun allowed, I see how it is, you crazy Mando. It's not like Phi was all high and mighty in his skivvies earlier, ordering us to scan left and right, cover the Shiny, eradicate the Nationalists, blah blah suicidal nonsense-"

"Lieutenant." Phi's voice is tense. "What message would you like for me to send?"

Give them the last known location of the enemy and how long ago, if possible say their numbers but most importantly tell them Bandit is attempting to engage, I won't be happy if I hear about some blue on blue [irl you'd be amazed how often this happens]. Bar? Jinx has never been in a bar.

Well, that's not ENTIRELY true. He did sneak into the Kaminoan barroom back when he was a cadet. Almost got caught though, the Kaminoans can be REALLY quiet despite their huge necks, you know, so he didn't get a chance to try any of the drink. Good thing too, that stuff would've fucked him up.

But yeah, I'm not sure why that bar adventure would have anything to do with right now.

"Phi," Twitch's reedy voice is dripping with sarcasm. "I think it would be a brilliant idea for you to inform the Loyalists of their incoming doom."

Xtreme giggles louder in response. You can feel Phi seething over the comms. This provokes you to, gently, climb onto the ground.

"You know," Twitch says. "You are the best commander I've ever met. I am surprise Kenobi hasn't already put you in command of an entire battalion! What do you think, X?"

After taking a few steps towards the front of the AT-TE you lose your balance, and it is only the reaction of a couple of troopers that kept you from falling.

Xtreme continues his mad laughing. "I, I think ol' Kenny should step down and make Phi a, a," Xtreme interrupts himself with a resurgence of giggles. "A Jedi Master instead! He's got the snaz, and,"

At this point Twitch joins in on the laughter. Phi is still completely silent.

The troopers help you along towards Twitch.

"No, no," Twitch chuckles - this is the first time you have heard him actually laugh, you notice - "He should take Yoda's place! He's got the forethought to predict all our futures! Hell, he's got enough Jedi juice that, with him guiding the Republic, he'd be so suicidal that the war would be won with no casualties within the week!"

Crusader glances back to see your approach and quickly moves to wrap you arm around his shoulder.

"And the Separatists wouldn't even, KNOW ABOUT IT BECAUSE HE CAN'T USE THE COMMS AND- AND-" You can hear Xtreme completely run out of breath, and instead of words you hear a high pitch squeal through the helmet's speakers.

> [Cont.]
>>
>>46623243
With Crusader's help you hobble over to Twitch's side. Shaking him off, you then lean against the side of the seat behind the twitching with laughter Twitch. With a deft motion you slap the back of your glove against the Sergeant's helmet and when he stops and looks up at you, you give him his just punishment.

You tilt your head ever so slightly, and give him the Look. The Look that promises Extra Duties if the trooper's Extracurricular Activities do not Cease Immediately.

Twitch, through sheer force of will, halts his involuntary giggling and, with perfect military position, Returns to his Post.

A moment later, Xtreme's laughter is also forcibly cut off.

You cannot help but smile to yourself behind the anonymity of your helmet. Being an officer definitely has its perks sometimes.

"Phi," You state over the now clear comms. "Send this message to Termat: 'Defoliator Squadron Incoming, Republic Forces Engaging, Require Assistance.' Make sure to include which direction we are coming from."

"Yes sir." Phi no longer sounds as if he is about to snap. Good, your duty has been done. Glancing down at Twitch, making him Know that you are watching, you decide to wait until a response.

Major Bandit sits in his tree, surveying the concealed ambush points his boys had set up 30 minutes ago.

He is pleased. His pride swells as he watches his boys, survivors and leftovers from hundreds of units across dozens of campaigns, lay in a perfect ambush.

They have done this plenty of times before, against heavier targets, in worse terrain. This will be a piece of cake.

He again checked his DC-17m - a gift from a Commando that Bandit made a deal with months ago, after the invasion of Kamino on a medical station somewhere - for the hundredth time. The missile launcher function was installed and the payload locked and loaded.

Bandit smirks.

"'Ey mate," He whispers in the privacy of his helmet, "I'm upholding my end of the deal."

The rain is heavy, but the wind is nonexistent. The air is peaceful, and the only sound is the pattering of rain on the soggy ground. Nothing moves in the forest.

Bandit tunes out the roar of water pouring across his helmet and around his viewports as he waits.

100 meters in front of him, at the crest of the hill, is where the AATs will hover up. 50 meters from there, they will be surrounded on 3 sides by his boys. 25 meters more and they will strike.

"I wonder where you've gone off to, mate." Bandit murmurs, his concentration steady. "I'm sorry your Jedi girl got fucked up, but I'll let you know."

Bandit's smirk turns into a vicious grin.

"Dammit!" Phi snaps. "Dammit, by the damned force! This blasted old piece of space junk, just work damn you!"

100 meters away, Bandit spots movement along the crest of the target hill.

"I'll buy you one last drink after this war is done, and you can tell me all about your squad's adventures."

A squadron of AATs, 10 in all, hover into view. Bandit shifts slightly as he takes aim at the one directly in the center of the formation.

"And, just maybe mate,"

The Separatist tanks roll closer.

75 meters.

"I'll teach ya how to pick up that Jedi girl you like so much."

---

>>46623378
"Oh?" You state, mock curious. Teasing Phi really can be fun, you note.

"Yeah! I swear, I've never seen the comms work like this before."

Crusader rumbles, "I am sure that the communications device is in perfect order, Phi."

You look over at Crusader right as he glances at you. It seems you both are on the same page, good. You smile to yourself.

Out of the corner of your eye you see Twitch look up at you, probably glaring.

"Officer's privileges, Twitch. I am sure you understand." You whisper through your external microphone.

50 meters away.

"I'm sure I can impress your sparkly Commando ass with some of my tales, Joker." Bandit whispers.

A shattering crash echoes through the forest. Bandit swivels his head to his left - towards the source of the sound, a motion the AATs replicate a moment later - and at the base of the tree the Major spots-

One of his boys.

Lying beside the remains of a shattered tree limb.

"Oh hell no." Bandit whispers.

The dazed scout trooper pulls himself up to his feet. 10 meters to his right, another hidden trooper rushed out of cover towards his brother.

The turrets of the AATs lock on to the confused scout.

"NO!" Bandit roars as he takes his shot. A second later, two more rockets fire out from the bushes - 10 too few - and they lance out towards the AATs.

The dazed trooper looks at the AATs. In that brief moment, he stared down his certain death.

In the next, he began to raise his launcher.

At the same time, the cannons fired as one.

Next, the rockets found their purchase in their respective AATs - three burst into flames.

One lobbed shell arcs to the top of the tree line, and Bandit follows it with his eyes as it descends.

The dazed trooper hits the ground directly underneath the incoming salvo as his savior tackles him to the ground.

The lobbed shell is falling.

Bandit tries to figure out something he can do, even as he is automatically reloading his missile launcher, he knows that everything will be too slow, too late, as the shell falls, falls, falls...

"Oh bal-" Bandit’s world turns white.

---

The hull shakes under your feet.

"Phi!" You yell. "Status Report?"

"By the force..." Phi mutters.

"Phi! Update me, dammit!"

"Sir." Twitch states, emotion devoid from his voice. You whip your head over towards him.

He holding up a shaky hand, pointing towards his viewscreen.

You follow the extended finger.

At extreme zoom, you see in the distance-

"No.." You whisper.

An all too familiar sight from the simulations emerges. Something that was shown to you time and time again, from the plasteel halls to the sheer whit-

"A defoliator." Twitch's reedy voice seems to escape his mouth without his knowledge.

You watch, shocked to silence, as the cloud flies up into the air.

There is something wrong about it though.

Something, of-

"Lieutenant!" Phi yells. "Command is out of contact! Shelter Base is having the same problem, the signal keeps bouncing off!"

Shelter Base is under assault. The blood drains from your face, as your limbs grow leadened and your mind slows.

Shelter Base is under attack.

And Carla is in the hospital there.

What do you know about how defoliators work, Anon?

If I can remember from that one episode of TCW they are massive firestorm bombs that burn everything in a wide radius, allowing droids to be unharmed and killing anything there.

Glad your back and really missed the Quest, not shifting down a gear in the meat grinder that is the clone wars eh?

Now I don't want a number but is there a percentage chance above 1 that Bandit is alive...if he had a shield generator in that heavily customized gear of his he MAY have survived....

I've been out of the loop about future quests except for this last weekend of QTG threads, so you probably know more than I do.

If the QM for that proposed quest is willing, I have no problem of integrating his stuff into mine and vice versa (Even if it's only a cameo or a reference, like in this thread with Bandit.)

Honestly, I have a feeling it may end up a lot like Commando Quest in its prime, which is not a bad thing at all. If I can't play along, I'll definitely be reading the archives to scope out the competition enjoy clone shenanigans.

>>46623855
And that "wide" radius is easily at least a mile across in the show. It fucks with ALL living things as well.

Keep that in mind.

>>46623863
The meat grinder is only beginning Anon.

Bandit is that would be telling

How the crew feels about Jinx?

Phi is amicable. You have proven your worth to him as a commander, but you have yet to become his comrade/friend. Everyone says that Phi is the most boring character. Maybe so, maybe I totally won't have a complex character on the main cast.

Twitch think's you're a crazy suicidal psychopath, but then again that's everyone to him. If he seriously didn't like you, you would KNOW. Or would you? Also, he thinks you're REDACTED

Crusader is REDACTED

Jackpot is calculating your risks versus your rewards to the AT-TE's combat ability. He has yet to come to a conclusion.

Cardinal is, well, Cardinal.

Xtreme is a wild card, and properly respects you as an officer and his commander after your actions in the first battle you were all in. Bravo.

I'd like your input on this: Let's say I want to run a Jedi quest. Should I go for Rise of the Empire era (clone wars) or Old Republic era? I like both eras, though I'd have to say I'm more knowledgeable about the former.
>>
>>46629879
Go with what you're more comfortable with, specifically so that, if/when Anon takes the quest off the rails (Which I feel is much more likely in a Jedi quest than in mine at this point in time), you can continue to build the quest with knowledge of the era as a whole.

Also we all need more Clone Trooper interactions in our lives.

Tell me more about what you have in mind, I'll definitely help out however I can.

This quest has been severely lacking for Jedi as a Star Wars quest, I've noticed. How do you think of that?
>>
>>46629946
I honestly don't mind the lack of Jedi...I mean there were not that many of them and the Clone War over a fucking huge number of places. Plus having them few and far between brings up their cred.
>>
>>46623517
Jinx! This is your repressed conscious speaking. I'm not sure how much of this will get through but I have to try. You know what you did to that woman and you know what you are capable of. The best course of action is to take yourself out of the equation before one of your episodes gets your crew killed. Relieve yourself of command. Permanently. It's the Professional thing to do and you know it.

Not now, the troops need a CO. But soon, very soon. I hope these words reach you and aren't blocked by your reprogramming. Make the right choice.
>>
>>46629946
>Tell me more about what you have in mind, I'll definitely help out however I can.
Well, when I developed what little plot I have I had the clone wars in mind, but that can easily be changed.

You play as a seasoned knight (early 30's) and you were there during the first battle of Geonosis, in the arena. The LAAT that was carrying you out got shot down and you were the only one whom survived.

2 months later of extensive surgeries, bacta treatments, muscle training, and rest, you're sent to join the mission on Kamino where the Separatists are invading.
From there on I'm mostly aiming to let the players pick a Padawan and then send them on missions that are linked together in a story arc.

In short, a seasoned knight with both physical and mental scars suffering from PTSD gets a Padawan and goes on missions that knit together into a story of some sort.
>>
>>46629946
I think that the clone wars should be about the clones, not the jedi, and jedi always steal spotlight. Plus everyone around the jedi tends to die.

I would suggest tossing in some lesser-known planets so you have more creative freedom to craft arcs with. You could absolutely have Jedi elitism and arrogance get put into play (Especially because the character was put out of action before he saw clone troopers in battle).

Don't be afraid to pull punches - death should always be a possibility. Even if for Jedi it becomes more narratively relevant than simply a part of the day to day grind, you generally will have clones to get slaughtered around the MC.

I think you have a good start anon. Get your knowledge up on vehicles/tactics/droids/etc. etc., get to know your starfighters, and be ready to have voters try and edge the MC to the dark side.

There are sections in mind for if the AT-TE is unavailable, which would include if there was no crew to help you pilot it. Generally if you lose the crew, you would've probably lost the walker as well.

If everyone dies, the quest is finished. If just the MC does, then maybe a new MC would be inserted into this crew. If the crew/walker dies, Jinx will very likely have an individual adventure.

You do not want that adventure to happen.
>>
>>46637401

What do you call an AT-TE crew without an AT-TE?

Cannon Fodder
>>
>>46637401
>If the crew/walker dies, Jinx will very likely have an individual adventure.
Would that just be Jinx wandering out, out of his mind, getting flashbacks and weird dreams and generally being not at all there way more that normal.

>>
>>46637494
It's dependent on the situation in which Jinx is separated from the crew (whether they're living or dead, that's to be seen for obvious reasons).

If things are stressful/traumatic enough, well... then things will be interesting.

I think your idea was a good one Anon, and like I've said before, you are absolutely free to run in my threads if the thought of doing your own thread seems too intimidating or what have you.

Just take your idea, pick a world, do a little research about it, and, in your case, the explosives that are used in the Star Wars universe.

Then think out some characters, form their names/the REASON behind their names (the main crew characters in this quest are incredibly complex and have over a year of combat and life experience, so they may not be the best to emulate for everyone), designate who does what, plot out some basic plot points/the conflict going on in that world/etc, and run.

Saying it as I just did may seem like a horde of information, but to be honest it isn't all that much work, especially when you've already done the hardest work, i.e. the original premise/character focus that will drive the quest.

Come next (extended?) thread maybe, please feel free to try and run your little tale. I know I'll be down to read it.
>>
>>46643588
Generally the first set of rolls are either the MC, or the troopers that are closest to his command, i.e. in that situation Phi.

The further down (or when people are actually rolling, right) the sets are, the further from your effective "command ability" they are. That's why, generally, Jackpot's dice set will occur after everyone in the front of the AT-TE, but before everyone outside of the AT-TE.

It is both a physical aspect and a communication aspect that defines the order, or if the character is important enough to require a roll because of reasons.

Spectacular. Pop into QMC.

By the way it's good to see you around, mate.
>>
>>46643649
For the whole one roll this thread, was the first set us and the comm's situation, the second was Bandit getting his shit blown up, and the third about what's happening at Shelter Base? Or maybe Termat. Or super secret behind the scenes rolls.
>>
>>46644193
Remeber what each set you roll represents an Individual, a Squadron Leader under your command, or a fellow Commander. Dice are generally directly related to people and their situations. (A detail I'm sure may have been a little obscured, which I have no problem with clarifying now.)

Now sometimes you may be rolling for behind the scenes things that your character does not have direct knowledge of or any communication with the people involved, but reasons are had.

Other times dice are rolled for super secret stuff like you said. Now, if I rolled some die, things work similarly but it is not in the realm of the MC.

That is one aspect (an inportant one at thag) about the dice Anon, and they tend to be a little more complex depending on when exactly I'm asking for a roll, but that's the gist. I'll always reclarify things, of course.
>>

The cloud of the defoliator round rises in Twitch's view screen - a thin plume of ash and smoke rising from the other side of the nearby hill and behind densely packed with trees. During it's rapidly slowing ascent a small strip of the sky is blotted out. You watch as a line of stars are obliterated from view, one by one.

With your hand tightly grasping to the back of Twitch's seat and body humming, a low guttural growl escapes your throat. All you can see is the view screen, the sight of your allies, and your friend, dying-

No. Biologically burned out from the galaxy. Reduced to less than ashes. Leaving behind empty suits and a barren landscape.

Your vision scrubs out the rest of the AT-TE in a white noise, details blurring and forming into the backdrop of-

No no no, you did everything right. You were professional. You were a Good Commander.

You squeeze your eyes shut.

Your face is suddenly wet as your throat twists, tightening up into a ball that wells up to the base of your jaw-

Energy thrums through your veins, your heart thundering as it violently beats in your chest, and-

You cannot breathe.

You desperately inhale a breath.

"Lieutenant." A clipped voice penetrates your consciousness, casting you reeling back into the present.

"Wireless communications with local forces are jammed." You recognized the emotionless voice now. Jackpot continues. "Enemy jamming appears to be influencing all communications in the sector. Probability indicates that a Separatist ship has been adapted for this purpose and is currently overhead."

You jostle your head to the right, clearing the images of Bandit's demise from your immediate thoughts. You have a duty to uphold.

"Major Bandit's Platoon is mounting up on their speeders." Jackpot says. "They appear to be preparing to reinforce."

"Ah hell, everything is going so damned well right now." Twitch grumbles, turns back towards Jackpot. "Hey, what insane plan do you have this time? There's no asteroid to hack on this psychotic mud pile."

"One moment." Jackpot states.

You rapidly blink. "Twitch, what did you just say?"

"Oh, nothing, just another force-damned attempted suicide." The urban camouflaged clone waves vaguely at you.

"Lieutenant!" Phi calls out frantically through the comms. "I can't get the comms to work on any channel! Even my datapad doesn't work, Twitch said it would work across the galaxy even in hyperspace and it doesn't and-"

"Phi." Crusader interrupts. "Focus on keeping the walker moving. By the glory of Mandalore, we shall see the end of this day with Traitorous blood on our blades. You must keep calm, my brother. The Commander shall guide us to an undying eter-"

"Alright, you fanatical Mando," Twitch whips a finger at Crusader. "Your religious nonsense is going to get us killed, and so help me I will strangle you when that happens."

As you hear Xtreme's giggling begin to seep into the channel, your annoyance peaks.

"Troopers. I should not need to order you to Stay Professional." Your words are ice. "I will enforce Regulations if you continue."

The sound of multiple simultaneously words halting mid breath fills your helmet's speaker. A moment after the universally fear was uttered, everything falls silent.

"Data received." Jackpot inflectionless voice responds. "Correction, it appears that a small squadron of frigates is holding position at the edge of the stratosphere."

"Wait." You pivot and face Jackpot. His helmet with the purple and gold Seven rests on the console alongside his seat. "How are you getting this info-"

"More accurately," Your rear gunner continues as if he did not hear you. "There are three frigate-sized ships, class unspecified, in orbit near our location. One seems to be centered over Shelter Base, the second over the Loyalist city of Termat and-"

Jackpot pauses.

"Location on third presumed frigate lost." You glance towards Twitch, who is pointedly not looking at you. "Last known location: Directly an equal distant from the two contacts, roughly 8 kilometers south from our current position. Probabilities indicate that the jamming vessels are being utilized to overlap their signal range"

"Good to know, Jackpot." Twitch states. "Do you have access to one of the ships' systems yet?"

"Hold on." You say, an alarm rushing through you. "Frigates? Jamming? Accessing systems? What is going on?"

"Negative." Jackpot drones. "I may potentially access only one of the ship's systems and free communications in that region, though. Commander, what do you require of me."

"I, wha, how.." You falter. Is he saying he can, what, splice into an enemy starship? That is absolutely absurd. That has to be the craziest thing you have ever heard. That should not even be possibl-

"Jinx." Twitch glares up at you. "Decide. The psycho back there won't have an open door for long."

"Uhm," Cardinal tentatively says over the channel. "Sir, the scouts are beginning to leave on their speeders."

Phi's exhausted voice comms. "Right, Bandit's boys are heading to him. Lieutenant, are we going to follow?"

You are taken aback. You suppose you have to decide what.. frigate to... hack?

Your brain is spinning.

Each Frigate jams all communications from being received in their cone of influence. Communications can still be sent from your AT-TE, as Phi has attempted, they simply aren't "landing" on anything.

>>46657820
It is about a 6 hour journey by AT-TE through rough, increasingly hilly terrain between Termat and Shelter Base. You lost about 4 hours of time with the ambush and disentangling the walker from the tree.

By speeder, the time likely would be greatly reduced. Choosing one direction would forgo the others in this vote.
>>
>>46657983
Shit, yeah this makes shelter base a priority, we're useful, but by clearing shelter base we can make sure that whatever we tell them reaches them. They can then react to our intel and operate around it. Clones have specialized tacticians and jedi for that. After wards we can manually go to shelter base and reinforce them.
>>
>>46657983
How far away was Bandit before he went kablammo?
>>
>>46658095
Roughly a kilometer away to the north-northeast.
>>
>>46658125
That's not very far at all, would seem kinda rude to walk all the way back to base or Termat without popping by.
>>
>>46658152
It also is up and over what looks to be two and half separate hills and deep valleys, so keep that in mind.

At this point Termat is about 7 kilometers away, Shelter base 22.

"Uhm. Jackpot, try and," You cannot believe you are ordering this. You will require an explanation later. "Access the systems on the, jamming... frigate over Shelter Base."

"Copy." Jackpot states. "I will update them of the situation at hand. Anything else you require of me, Commander?"

"Right, Jackpot. Inform Command about the situation with the AATs, the other frigates, and the potential of Termat being under assault."

"Understood." Jackpot falls silent.

You rub your hand against the side of your helmet. You sigh in frustration, working to refocus your thoughts. You have troopers in danger, and it is your duty as their Commander to give them the support they require.

You just hope you can get there in time.

"Phi," You walk to the outer doors. "Follow those speeders, we need to engage those AATs immediately."

"Yes sir." Phi sounds less shaky and more under control now. "I assume you are reassuming command, Lieutenant?"

"Affirmative." You activate the exterior doors. "Open it up for me, Phi." The door opens to a torrential downpour. Taking a step down the staircase, you loop your leg around the edge of the doorway and carefully grab onto the hull of the AT-TE. Slowly, you climb along the outside of the walker and reach the cockpit right as the hatch opens just enough to let you in. You squeeze in and climb into your command seat. You reseal the cockpit and close the right exterior door.

While you settle yourself into your seat of command again, you note Phi deliberately staring.

You nod to him, giving him the universal sign that everything is okay, take down your periscope and begin to scan. The AT-TE shifts underneath you as it changes course, propelling you up the hill.

Your mind calms. Your emotions are quelled and become reforged into determination, tactical possibilities running through your mind.

The frigates are outside the stratosphere, projecting a cone of jamming over your area, like to keep from receiving messages from the city or Command.

A thought occurs to you.

"Jackpot," You scan the forest for heat signatures. No contacts except for small animals. "If the communications are able to be sent but unable to be received, how are our comm channels still working?"

"He's a bit busy." Twitch grumbles. "Damned fool, he always gets all scary quiet when he's like this. Anyway, the nut would probably tell you its because the interior wiring of our walker here has an independent," Twitch's voice swells with pride. "and hardened communication system installed by yours truly. Not only will we be able to talk among ourselves without any paranoid Separatist with a two bit radio, we also cannot be jammed by anything!"

Twitch gives a wheezy laugh. "We're untouchable in here, Commander, in all the ways you can im-"

The comms channel cuts out.

"Twitch?" You ask. "Twitch, are you there?"

No response.

You look to your consoles, trying to get a read on the walker's systems-

Everything is showing corrupted data.

"Uh," Phi says. "Sir, Are you seeing this?"

You hurriedly turn back to the periscope. Good, you can still see. You press to zoom-

Nothing changes.

You attempt to shift to other functions.

Nothing.

"Sir!" Phi's panicked voice resonates in the enclosed cockpit. "All my controls have defaulted to manual! My readings are showing garbage data, and I can't talk with the rest of the crew."

Your proud heart stills.

Something has happened.

Something that was not according to plan.

"Phi," You speak through the external microphone. "Get hulled down near that treeline."

"Right." The Phi wrestles with the controls for a moment before the AT-TE shudders, its glacial walk increasing to a slow trot.

> [Cont.]
>>
>>46660392
You furiously scan all that you can see with your periscope, but because of the hillside you can only see the incoming tree like and the black sky.

Cold sweat prickles your neck and face. Your hands clench the handles of the periscope. Each step the walker makes brings you ever so slightly closer to the tree line, closer to where you might have vision.

Minutes pass.

The walker slowly crests over the hill, and as the ground flattens out you are able to see further through the trees and across the valley ahead of you-

The AT-TE sharply halts.

"Sir." Phi whispers. "Directly above. 200 meters up."

You swivel your periscope up. Scanning the sky, you see nothing but the pitch blackness of the night.

"I do not see anything. Keep moving," As you move the periscope down to scan the hill across from you, you dart your eyes along the vague shapes of the clusters of trees, searching for any sign of movement, light, anything that can tell you where your brothers have gone-

There.

You spot the flickering lights of speeders. "There, 50 meters across the way, there's our boys. Take us in, Ph-"

Before you can finish, the pitch black night in front of you flares white.

Your eyes sear and burn even as your helmet's automatic shading protocol darkens your viewports. In that instant, all your mind can see is the flashing, warbling afterimages of the blinding light in your retinas. You can hear Phi groan in pain.

You feel the AT-TE rumbling through your seat, distantly hearing the sounds of explosions over the thundering din of the incoming rain.

"Ah hell, ah dammit," Phi mutters to himself. "Blast it all, I can't see anything!"

Seconds pass and your vision finally clears.

For an instant, you wish you were still blinded.

The valley before you is filled with light, the trees on the opposite hill being illuminated entirely. Through your periscope you see fleeting evidence of the BARC speeders maneuvering around the trees.

As your eyes drift upwards to the source of the light, your heart stops.

"Fuck." Phi states eloquently.

Bandit's people went forward without your orders. Because they are on speeders, they can use hand signals to move about.

The enemy did incredibly well. You didn't do bad. If you had done badly, you would not be witnessing the frigate descend. You would have too many droids trying to Remove Clone faster than you could say "GODDAMMIT JACKPOT!"

There are BARC speeders moving about in the lighted forest. They also did decently with their rolls.

I had a thought as I drove with my friend out to get some food (while explaining a bit about what is going on in this quest), and I wanted to run it by you all.

I wouldn't mind a good Jedi Quest, plenty of sith ones have happened.
>>
>>46662313
my personal though is that you should try to run a quest in another universe but if you want to make a sith or a jedi quest i'd like it to be a jedi quest.

I'm curious, if I were to not write in Star Wars again, what do you think I ought to try and extend my particular brand of creativity to?

I cound definitely try my hand at something original, I just wanted to hear what you had to think.

So, anyway, a "Proper, follow the code nice and neat" sort of jedi? That actually might be nice and challenging.

Now, explain to me what idea you have for a "cop quest." Perhaps a newbie Uniform getting put to the hard streets, or an investigator and go a little noir with it?

I'd prefer a noiry one. I think you'd be good at at that. Plus everyone knows Noir film detectives have problems, and you seem to enjoy those.

>>46662493
If you are to try our hand at something original make sure it's not generic, it's not that i'm tired of simple combinations like sci-fi setting as a starship commander or things like that but I'd really like somebody to throw us into some specific kind of setting like dystopia , Occult magic oriented quest in a medieval setting r really original stuff (if you have another hobby you like you can try to make a setting based around it or something).
I can promise we'll like it, but you'll have a lot of respect from me for trying to make a quest with a real spirit.

I didn't really have an idea when I suggested it. I just got that kind of vibe from your writing.

I do have some suggestions now that I've thought about it, though.

>Fresh face recruit straight out of college has to deal with the realities of serving in the police force in an environment that is extremely hostile to police.
>Gang wars and corrupt politicians run rampant.

Alternatively and much more difficult to pull off

>Veteran detective or SWAT team member struggles with depression and cynicism while still trying to do their job.
>Has the unshakable feeling that he's always just one step away from being the criminals he regularly arrests.

Maybe you can even attempt to do both at the same time, and make the characters be each others' foils.
>>
>>46662812
If everything wasn't in such a baby stage in my mind, I'd consider the dramatic reveal approach.

I digress, I cannot seem to find the image that inspired me to do this, but I'll describe it real quick: In the background you see a statue of a massive, one armed, scythe wielding angel sitting underneath an open topped rotunda in what could be presumed to be a temple.

The ceiling is held up by archways, and at the base of those arches stand lines of soldiers standing at attention, all in black armor. They surround (At a 20ish foon distance) a girl who is standing in the middle of the room. This girl is standing in front of the massive, 50 foot tall statue. She is wearing a blue dress, is standing in the light of the rotunda, and is wielding a comically large and impractical looking anime-tier sword.

In the foreground is a knight in black armor, wielding a halberd and a sword with a chain on it.

You are this blatantly evil looking knight.

This ridiculously Hero girl is your enemy, a rogue princess trying to overthrow what she assumes is your "evil regime."

As to be expected from a teenage, foppish girl, her plots are generally underwhelming and only gain popular(ish) support because she's cute princess girl.

The quest would basically be you countering all of her, and the rest of this fantasy kingdom's, plots as the publicly ridiculed bad guy.

You are actually a really great guy, practically paladin tier in honor, but your duty dictates that you act as the "evil" one for the betterment of the kingdom.

So, you'd've kill the supporters (adventuring party) of the princess girl, always leaving he to live as you take the weapons from her slain friends and use them against her in later battles.

Sounds too anime-ish for my taste, but it might be good?

Do the 'evil' deeds Mr. Knight has to do haunt him at night while he trys to sleep?
>>
>>46662999
you're describing BEG quest right now Observer apart from the ridiculous hero girl story you've been so on point i'd say it's almost hivemind tier knowledge you're pulling.

>I'm curious, if I were to not write in Star Wars again, what do you think I ought to try and extend my particular brand of creativity to?

Have you ever thought about doing an Elder Scrolls Quest?
>>
>>46662946
From there, and a little bit of my own creative juices, I could definitely see the potential for the idea.

Taking it and inserting it into a new/different/original setting may also be a worthwhile (And generally enjoyable) experience.

>>46663021
I did not mean for it to seem anime-ish, though I can see where you could get that impression.

At the very least, my level of characterization/complexity would definitely be involved, but perhaps it'll be more... shrouded.

>>46663062
Absolutely anon. Absolutely.

>>46663063
Is that the case? Hm. I've only recently noticed it in the archives, so I did not know what to think of it.

If I'm actually so spot on, I'll definitely try not to emulate someone else's work so closely.

Does it stand up to my "quality of writing" or however you want to call it?

>Elder Scrolls Quest

Unfortunately I do not know very much about that series at all except for a half-hearted playthrough of Skyrim years ago.

I'll tell you, once you're forced to watch someone remake their character for the literally 50th time in a week, play for an hour or so, then repeat, you can get burnt out on a game REAL quick.

Turns out that guy was actually legitimately crazy, too. And he had driven me around in the middle of the night once, getting into a "race" with a random other car on the highway.

Hm.

>City guard in some city, in some country
>Investigate a string of murders by a gang
>Getting close to catching them
>Your captain closes the case, probably due to bribes and pressure from the Jarl/Lord of the City
>The gang is allowed to flee the city and flees justice
>You leave the City guard, sell your small home, and all unessential items
>Become a wanderer who hunts down the murderous gang that escaped your grasp, with no rules or laws holding you back.

It's all starting to make sense...

Ok, this requires story time.
Also I wouldn't base your opinions about the Elder Scrolls based on Skyrim, its actually the worst in the series.

Careful with this nostalgia-googles. Skyrim is legitimately one of the very best installments of the Elder Scroll series in terms of mechanics, graphics, and the large amount of mods readily available for it.

They only make NPC's that will matter in the game, either through the main quest or a side-mission. No point cluttering up cities with NPC's that doesn't matter, according to them anyway.
>>
>>46663143
>If I'm actually so spot on
you described the main character so accurately it's scary but the whole background you've created is different, he doesn't try to push heros vs BEG that much because the main character is a fucking invicible dark lord that follow your description (apart from the weapon) and has a few problems in the demonic realm.

>Does it stand up to my "quality of writing" or however you want to call it?
I'd say our writing style is better but i think you can't compare it purely by writing style, he does bring up interesting topics by making us play the BEG and making us go through a fully Utilitarianist lawful ethical stance which make the whole thing interesting even if at times his writing style may prove to be going at much faster pace and unlike you don't do multiple posts for one update.

I think it's a good quest and it's a bit creepy that you literally had a very similar idea.
You might be able to go through with it but to make something different you'd have to make us go full BEG and rarely make the mask fall down and if you make the evil mask fall of the character I'd advise making it in a relatively important/epic scene. Also making us more ruthless and cunning and less trusting and violent would go a long way to differentiating this quest from BEG quest.
overall turning the "evil regime." into actual evil regime might do it because we'd be less a man trapped in a monster's skin and more of a monster fighting to be a man.

Observer is already doing that pretty well in this quest.

Well, that's that storytime, but I have a couple others about that guy.

So one summer a couple years ago my brother had fallen on a roof while working for a roofing company and nearly died. He was forced to live with us when he was healing, mostly because there was no way he was going to be able to fly back to California.

In his time here he made a friend. Now, if you've ever lived in a tourist town around a large, inland body of water, you know how much JACK ALL there is to do in such a place. Basically all there was to do, especially for my brother, was sit around at home, drink, watch movies/play video games, and get cabin fever. Also smoke weed.

This friend was basically the guy that knew the dealers to get the pot, so that's generally what they would do, especially when playing Skyrim for 80 thousand years.

One night he and I were out late at night at a campground place after family and family friends had been drinking when we realized that the car we took down that had its battery die (Drunks, blasting music from a car, regular story.)

So here I am with this guy in the middle of the night, and in the distance we a girl fucking SCREAM. We bolted to the safety of the light at the nearby building, and here is where things get weird.

He starts saying he's seeing shit. Flickering figures at the edge of the light, what he told me were demons, and told me to stay behind him as he picked up the biggest hammer he could find and waited.

In the meantime he called up my brother, literally blathering about the situation and how scared shitless we were (I was honestly freaking out, because we DID hear a woman's scream), begging for my brother with a broken leg to come pick us up.

After about an hour of standing alone with this guy, his surreally calm panicking freaking me the whole time, he suddenly ordered me to bolt for the car with him.

When the car finally started, we FLEW back up to my house.

Huh, that sounds like it would be interesting to at least think about. I'll consider it and see what I come up with.

Cheers!

You've only seen a small glimpse of the monster. How far do you think the toothy maw goes?

...this AT-TE is our lunatic asylum...Bandit is our therapist and Kinobi was checking in to see if we had recovered, the Commander was their old friend whom died (or may even be Jinx after he lost his mind!)
>>
>>46663458
I'd say it probably goes as deep as a squad of young clones on Kamino.

>>46663491
Who's Carla then, a nurse?
>>
>>46663515
Kenobi: Checking on the inturns
Bandit: Theropist
Clara: A nurse we helpped at one point and saw a glimmer of hope that we may recover unlike the rest of our crew
The Crew: All in there of they personality traits form a crazy mando cultist to a possible traitor....
The Old Commander: Possibly an old therapist who died or maybe an old inmate who got out?
