My name is Cecile, and I'm sixteen years old. I already thought my life was odd, what with my parents having moved halfway across the country for their new job and leaving me in the care of my older sister... but then my best friend went and had a book shipped to my house that ended up giving me superpowers.

After waking up to a miserable Charlotte and helping her out courtesy of some tea that I may or not have brewed properly, I messed around for a bit and now I'm about to check on my friends to make sure that they're alright.

Great, my phone is right there on the nightstand where I left it. After a few seconds of pondering just who it is that I should call up first, I Decide on Theresa. She was with me last night during that whole thing with Faceless and is the most involved in this entire situation as a whole. I hope she's doing alright.

So I just hit her number on my speeddial and wait.

Ring ding dong. Ringa ding ding ding dong.

"Nngh..." Theresa yawns on the other end of the line. "Whozzis?"
"It's Cecile," I reply. "Sorry, did I wake you up?"
"Yeah," she mumbles. "Had a hard time sleeping after all that shit last night, you know?
"Sorry..."
"Nah, I got into this because I wanted to."

"What exactly's been bothering you?" I ask. "If I'm not prying too much, I mean."

The line goes quiet for a few seconds.

"Nothing that I really want to be talking about over the phone," Theresa replies, "but I'm sure you have a good idea already. Less the screaming and shit and more, you know..." she groans, "...fingers."
"Oh."

I suddenly have a sinking feeling in my stomach.

"I'm not mad at you or anything, I mean," Theresa says. "I know how it is to have a voice in your head constantly encouraging you to do stuff that you kind of wanted to do but know better than to act on... but it was still fucked-up to see in person."
"Sorry," I mumble.

"The thing that really kept me up was that fucker," she growls. "He was SO pissed when he ran away and I was getting paranoid that somehow he'd figure out where I was and where I lived and get me while I was sleeping."
"So you didn't sleep."
"Pretty much, yeah," she replies with a long yawn.

So she had pretty much the same concerns as Charlotte did... while I was able to sleep like a baby. Sometimes I really wonder what the hell is wrong with me.

"And thanks for calling me up, too," Theresa says. "Makes me feel a little bit less paranoid to know that you're doing alright."
"Likewise," I reply.

And with that, we say our parting words and end the call. It's definitely a relief to know that my partner in crime is safe and mostly doing well, though I feel more than a little bit crappy about my actions having caused her to worry as much as she did.

But hey, I'm sure that talking to Irene about it will help with her anxiety about everything. That's how it is with me and Charlotte, at least.

Can't contribute much to this thread right now but if this is the end I just want you all to know that it's been an absolute pleasure.
Arch's quests have been a welcome distraction and brought me a bit of light during some very dark points over the last couple of years. I can't underestimate how important that's been for me.

You are a quest protagonist and the DM does not want to have to constantly ask for player input over the 8 hours of you staying awake but accomplishing nothing.
Sleep is a convenient way for the DM to take control away from the player so the World can progress.

I could probably give someone else a ring before room service comes with our breakfast, but this feeling of griminess is really bugging me. Even though I already took a shower last night to wash off all the sweat from that way-too-tight catsuit thing I was wearing when me and Theresa snuck into that office building.

Ugh.

As such, I gather up a change of underclothes and duck into the bathroom that's attached to this bedroom to take another quick shower. The fancy body wash that Charlotte has really does the trick, too... I can by the time I step out I'm feeling super squeaky clean and am smelling really nice to boot!

After drying myself off, I slip on my underwear and step back out into the bedroom to get a proper outfit to wear... and while rifling through the section of the closet that Charlotte alloted to me, my eyes trail across the latest dress that she made me.

Screw it, I'mma be cute today. After last night's creepy gimp suit that I had to wear, I freaking DESERVE this.

While Charlotte takes care of bringing in the food itself, I get to quick work in getting the table ready for us to sit at. After clearing off the stray feathers and cat hair from it (I have no idea how Loki got up there with a broken wing), I give it a good scrub and make sure that everything's all nice and pleasant-looking.

And from there, I take the food from the tray that Charlotte left on the counter and get everyone's plates in order.

Thinking about how my Mom used to do all this stuff AND cook every single morning while she still lived here really makes me appreciate her a lot more.

"Alright, it's all set up," I say, nodding to myself in appreciation of my hard work.
"Thanks for that," Charlotte says, giving me a quick smooch as she sits down at the table.

I soon do the same... but after I sit down the continued absence of a certain someone (well actually "someones") piques my interest.

"Uh..." I look around. "Don't they smell this food too?" I ask Charlotte, wondering why they haven't long since raced to the table to stuff gtheir face.
"Gabrielle decided to follow your example and take a shower in the other bathroom," Charlotte replies. "Don't mind her."

I'm hungry. Really hungry. And these syrup-drenched pancakes are CALLING to me.

So heeding my lovely girlfriend's advice, I tear into them while she does the same. And Jesus Christ they hit the spot. Since I got to them before they hit that critical point where they're saturated with syrup yet not soggy yet, their perfect texture and flavor is just about overwhelming.

Still not quite as good as what my Mom makes, but they're more than an adequate substitute.

And just as I'm starting on my final third pancake, Gabrielle comes stomping into the kitchen and plops down in the chair next to me.

"Why didn't you tell me that the food already got here?" she grumbles while pouring melted butter all over her food.
"We figured that you already knew," Charlotte replies without a hint of sarcasm. "They're still hot though, right?"
"Yeah, but still..." she mumbles.

Well all three of us are here now so I guess it's as good a time as any to start making some plans for the day.

"You know, Charlotte..." I say while cutting my last pancake into small, easy-to-eat pieces, "you've been really stressing out lately."
"You think?" Charlotte says, rolling her eyes. "That man is still at large and there's no telling when he might strike again."

She glances across the suite at Loki, who is currently using Milla as a nest.

"I could never forgive myself if something else happened to them." she says.
"The whole reason I'm here is to watch them, you know," Gabrielle chimes in. "If he tries -anything- then I promise that me and Shary'll mess him up even worse than we did back when-"
"I'm -trying- to eat," Charlotte says, cutting her off.
"Sorry..."

With a cute little pout, Gabrielle slowly sinks lower and lower in her chair.

"Daddy says that he's only ever struck at nighttime though," Gabrielle says. "So you should at least go out and get some air or something so you don't end up going nutty. Cecile's worried about you and I am too."

"......." Charlotte makes a really pained face.
"Daddy would say the same thing and you know it."
"Damn iiiiiiiiiit..."

Charlotte throws her head back over the edge of her chair and lets her arms go limp.

"Fine," she moans. "Since I know you'll just call him up and then I'll have him nagging at me too."

"I dunno if it's 'cuz of her animal stuff or what but I can't stand it," she mumbles. "So if doing stuff with you while I stay here'll help her calm down some then I'm all for it."

Yeah, seeing her all worked up like this does remind me of a wild animal that's on high alert.

"What about you?" I ask.
"What -about- me?" Gabrielle asks back.
"You talked about Charlotte and your father but how are you handling all this?"
"Meh."

"If that Faceless guy shows up to try to take Loki then we'll handle it then," Gabrielle says with a shrug. "Same as when I'm playing games, I like to take stuff as it comes."
"That's awfully calm of you," I reply.
"I guess?" she says. "I mean, -I'm- the one who found Loki's egg and I'm the one who named him when he hatched so he's always been my baby too but I don't see the point in freaking out ahead of time. That's more of Shary's thing, not mine."
"Really?"
"Yup," she nods. "He's so anxious right now that it's even spilling over into my mind too. It sucks."

Just then, a low rumbling comes from below us.

"Don't act like -your- infatuation with 'Oscar' hasn't bled over into -my- mind too, Gabrielle," Shary says in that creepy monster voice that her plushie body has.

Both Gabrielle and Shary go quiet for a long while, though the constantly-changing expressions on Gabrielle's face make it pretty obvious that they're having an argument inside her mind. And just as the spectacle is starting to get kind of stale to watch, I see the bedroom fly open out of the corner of my eye.

"Alright, I'm all ready!" Charlotte calls out as she approaches the rest of us. "Cecile, are you ready to go to wherever this place is?"

"Yup," I say, hopping up from the couch. "Let's get out of here."
"Alright," Charlotte nods.

But instead of starting towards the door, Charlotte approaches the couch and pulls Gabrielle to her feet.

"C'mon," Gabrielle groans, "what is it n-"

And before she knows it, she ends up as the recipient of a big sister hug.

"I know you worry about me and I'm sorry for being so tightly wound," Charlotte says.
"You were listening through Loki and Milla, weren't you," Gabrielle mumbles.
"You know I was," she laughs.

Breathing a sigh of relief upon finally being freed from her sister's strong embrace, Gabrielle immediately falls back onto the couch.

"Be good while I'm gone, okay?" Charlotte says.
"Like I'm ever -not- good," Gabrielle scoffs.
"And make sure you feed Milla once she wakes up. If she ends up hungry then I -will- call you up and yell at you."
"Yeah, I know," she replies, rolling her eyes.
"And if you find ANYTHING out of the ordinary..."
"Call you up right away, I know."
"Okay then."

And with that, we say goodbye to Gabrielle and MIlla and Loki and Shary and leave the suite to them. For is it now time for us to go out and relax.

Relaxin', maxin' all cool?

This is it for tonight's thread and possibly for the quest itself. Many, many thanks to everyone who's been participating in this thing over the nearly two years since I started it. And if this is indeed the last thread, at least I was able to post that super cute picture of Charlotte an Gabrielle together that I've been sitting on for a month now.

In keeping with the ways of the stubborn git that I am, I'm going to keep on posting here on /tg/ for as long as I'm able. So assuming that things don't get even worse over the next day, I'll be running again tomorrow night.

and now one last(?) round of questions

Thanks for writing arch! I hope you continue eventually.
>>
>>46961161
Keep on trucking, old Turtle.
>>
>>46961161
Which dendrite is fluffiest dendrite?

Do they all live happily ever after?
>>
>>46961234
>Thanks for writing arch! I hope you continue eventually.
It depends entirely on the administration here. Thanks for reading.

>>46961273
>Which dendrite is fluffiest dendrite?
Fluffiest is Gabrielle. Then Charlotte.

>Do they all live happily ever after?
That'd certainly be nice, wouldn't it.

And now I sleep. Thanks for playing!

why not just move to your containment board, you quitter

It really is a cute picture!

You should make a thread in /qst/ and link to it in this thread.

>Complete shitshow of a trial board
Fuck off, asshats.
>>
>>46962232
The board is fucked right now but once it is cleaned up there is absolutely no excuse for keeping quests on this board and I sincerely hope anyone who posts them on /tg/ is permanently rangebanned.
>>
>>46962265
>Implying /qst/ will survive the trial
>>
>>46962334
Same was said for every board hiro has added. Literally all of them were spammed with shitposting when they were first added. Once the mods actually start doing their jobs and banning "Australian World Domination Quest" and people who don't browse /tg/ complaining about "muh board splits" because moot said they were bad then it will be fine. It will be slow, but it will be fine.
>>
>>46962435
Splitting TV shows and movies was retarded.

Removing something that only questfags and people who don't browse /tg/ wanted to stay is not dumb.
>>
>>46962444
>something that only questfags and people who don't browse /tg/ wanted to stay
Nah.
>>
>>46962542
No, really. Quests are not and never were /tg/ related. I like them and enjoy reading them, but to make them being on /tg/ a requirement is stupid.
>>
>>46961161
Thanks, arch.

If you quit the quest, but ever make something in the future, even if distant future, please say something about it on your twitter. I love your stuff so I'll continue following even if not much will be relevant to me from now on.

>Playing a collaborative story game with pen and paper elements isn't /tg/
What, want 10-15 more thread slots for 40k?
>>
I took a break from this quest after Charlotte got out of cocoon and decided to look in thread just to see how things were going and it ended? Fuck. Did we kill all villains of the week? Did the quest get axed or reach the end naturally? You didn't cheat, did you? What did happen to Overshine?
>>
>>46962956
/qst/ is happening and throwing everything into question.
>>
>>46962956
It hasn't ended for certain.
>>
>>46962813
how about just more time for all the glorious other hobbies of traditional gaming. quests push all the good threads off the board, very high turnover of constant posting. I would like it /tg/ was a slower, comfier place, without every page being full of quests I dont care about. I love D&D and various other roleplaying games, but I dont really care about some forum games some anons are playing. take that shit to forums made for people that play post by post. This is a place to discuss traditional games, give advice on army lists, rule sets, painting, character builds, building terrain, talking shit about editions, etc. Quests, while technically being /tg/, are only interesting If you're actually playing them. They offer nothing to anyone who doesn't care about the specific setting or characters. They'll do fine in their own board, it will probably encourage them!
>>
>>46963313
Like most things in the world, /tg/ isn't all about you.
>>
>>46962232
>No archives
There are now
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive.html
>>
>>46963313
If the threads were interesting or high in discussion they'd stay on 'till autosage, so, no, your claim is bad and you should feel bad.
>>
>>46963352
Eh The threads I frequent always do autosage, its just they live about halfway down the catalog. At least now I wont have to scroll as far!
>>
I no longer follow any quests, but I'd just like it to be known that the only thing that would make me come back is a Red Meteor Quest. Thanks Archelon, for all the awesomeness.
>>
>>46956412
OVER-CHAN HAS A CONSCIENCE?!
>>
>>46960643
I don't know what I think about it to be honest.

I do like the text formatting and 750 post reply limit tho

I don't like how threads autodrop after 48h. /qst/ is shaping up to be a really slow board, and I think you might be able to keep the same thread up for months, like you can on /u/.
>>
>>46964715
Only towards Theresa. It still wants to REMOVE everything else.
