THIS is magical realm, yes. A machine (re?)birthing a baby human in some kind of incubator is very magical realm.

Is there a way to keep such a scenario from going off the deep end?

Why make the machine humanoid, and with breasts to boot? I mean, I could understand it if the machine was meant to look exactly like a human and fool others into thinking it was an actual mother, but otherwise it's fetish bait.

Being cloned/born out of pods and intravenously cared for by a stationary structure controlled by an AI that isn't anthropomorphic but is still considered a parent by it's "children" is leagues more interesting.
>>
This is one of those times where your accusation says more about you than it does about the one you're accusing.

Having it be an android is pretty silly and doesn't make any sense, but it's not magical realm.

Dangerous environment where you might need to move the wombs using equipment and vehicles made for human-scale occupants.

This would make a good Engine Heart character.

Android with a functioning womb who just really really really wants to have a baby.

Or maybe it just has a little clump of dried tissue and bones inside it and insists that it's expecting any day now.

>the above, only instead of AI humans have uploaded their minds into machines but retained genetic material for the purposes of procreation.
>a disaster strikes a colony ship, leaving only a small percentage of the colonists alive. The survivors turn to genetic engineering and robotics to ensure a stable gene pool. After several generations the crisis is averted but culturally it has become the norm for all children to be incubated in artifical wombs. The rich are able to build humanoid carriers for said wombs, becoming something of a status symbol.

Don't give it boobs. Have it be a spider or something and the baby is in the abdomen. Or because it's supposed to protect the baby, it's built like a fucking tank or ED 209

Or have it malfunction or CHOOSE not to give birth and the baby keeps growing inside it.

ooh, make it detachable. Or she's actually made to grow replacement organs in the battlefield, not carry a baby to term and she's in a race to get it to safety before it dies. Like its genetic mother died and the robot cut the baby out and is doing the best it can with what might be the actual last human in the world.

Guys, what if that robot is actually a human mother that's been transferred into a gynoid to save her from her disease ridden body, and her unborn child was implanted within her artificial womb so that she could carry it to term.

I dunno, the battlefield medic one has more potential for a PC, what with being trained in hand-to-hand combat, humvee operations, etc.

This would be the Lifetime original movie that's made after the success of Army Brat prompts a wave of gynoid-centered action movies.

>Why make the machine humanoid, and with breasts to boot? I mean, I could understand it if the machine was meant to look exactly like a human and fool others into thinking it was an actual mother, but otherwise it's fetish bait.

Maybe because the male wants to fuck the incubator and inseminate it that way?

Or, and this is a less fetish-y answer, the large breasts and humanoid posture is meant to trigger the "this is a pregnant woman" mechanism we have in our brains, thus ensuring the incubator will be treated better, protected, and overall given better care than a stationary vat.

Oh yeah man, imagine it. The Final War. All the women died a few years ago from some bioweapon that got out of control, all the civilian population centers have been destroyed, now it's down to just a few hundred thousand soldiers. Establish the momdroid as being humanoid in shape to fit into vehicles and make full use of human equipment, female appearance to throw off people who would otherwise take a shot at it, "womb" in the abdomen because that's a convenient spot in a humanoid frame to grow an organ, a little rapport with the squad she's assigned to, then they get orders to secure this highly-specific but unnamed payload. Which turns out to be a pregnant woman who got fatally shot in the firefight of securing her. Everybody on both sides is dead except the momdroid, so cue dramatic traumatic scene of removing the underdeveloped fetus and implanting it in herself. Then some more "bad guy" soldiers show up and momdroid has to hide, and through a series of actiony actions finds herself behind enemy lines.
>>
>>47067883
>Why make the machine humanoid, and with breasts to boot?
Because giving the incubator human features quells some of the unease most people would feel at the idea of growing humans in vats. Anthropomorphising advanced, intrusive technology to make it feel less alien is something that people are working on right now in robotics.

>>47069478
With a bit of work I think it could work as a mid-budget sci-fi movie like what Niell Blomkamp has been making.
>set up an apocalyptic setting where androids are fairly commonplace, used as laborers in a wide variety of jobs
>while they are intelligent they only have a limited range of emotions, usually tailored to allow them to fit in with humans while on the job
>the androids have a capacity to learn, but are rarely required to do so
>most humans see them as somewhere between a tool and a co-worker
>medic android is given a female form and basic personality so she can comfort the wounded on the battlefield
>stranded in an isolated warzone (maybe another planet) she finds the dying mother and saves the child using her regeneration womb/chamber to the best of her ability
Then you can take the basic story in two different directions
>either she has to protect the child and fight her way back to allied territory
or
>there's no going home (she's stranded and forgotten, or society as it was has collapsed) so she eventually gives "birth" to the child and then has to raise it, calling on her memories of how human mothers acted to try and approximate one, while becoming more human herself along the way

Use an actual actress with a heavilty CGI'd robot body to play the android and you're all set.
>>
>>47069721
Saved. Although I was thinking of a lone droid forced on a pilgrimage across the wastes when the mother activates her as a last-ditch effort. Maybe write it like a set of short stories/parables, maybe she's likened to the virgin mary. Hell, the whole thing could be a future religion, told generations later.

maybe adventure/setting around the implications of such technology
if they finish making female semen (its a thing look it up) then the roles of males will change in society
they get a good working womb going they're still going to need eggs, but not the rest of the woman any longer
that's all assuming there is an innate animosity between the sexes and each is waiting for the opportunity to screw over the other beyond regular screwing

There's a difference between anthropomorphising something and trying to make it look exactly like a human. That's why the uncanny valley exists in the first place.

Our hypothetical momdroid would sit comfortably on either the human or robot side depending on if she was portrayed as a robot-with-female-features like the OP pic, or as a full on gynoid, like >>47070127.

It can only do that with a valid zygote, and is searching the empty world for a surviving sperm and egg in storage... Somewhere.

This is the quest of Maternal Ambulatory Replica type 4: AKA "Mary"

They are all gone, and deep down in her programing, she knows, and refuses to believe it.

If you want to drag it out you could make it so that her organ replacement chamber is not suitable to be used as a womb since it wasn't designed for that, so she could use it to keep the foetus on a suspended state indefinitely but not have it develop inside of her.

Then the story could consists of her struggling to survive and functioning for the sake of the foetus over thousands of years on a desolate earth, building windfarms to recharge herself, hiding in caves to survive Mad Max style apocalyptical storms.

You know I was wondering about this, just as an abstract thought mind you.

If you have AI that have reached sentience and are darn near intelligent to the same degree as humanity and as a result of this want to be human as possible and give birth with their biological partners if they swing that way.

How would such a joining work out? I keep imagining that the robot, if female, would need constant chassis upgrades to accomadate the growing babe, but the issue I keep coming to is that you still need genetic material for there to be any growth

Unless you found some way to create gametes with synthetically created dna out of a random selection of different donors.

Though tpopped to mind if you had a combo of the robots from Fallout four and the matrix mixed together is all.

Its where your GM forces their fetishes into the game without the knowledge or consent of the players, thus hurting everyone else's experience. It shouldn't be mistaken for just having a fetish game, or sexual content in a game, since either of these can happen and either benefit or simply not effect the game.

In the depths of space, an AI manages a research facility.

There's an accident, and when the AI comes back online, she discovers all the humans are dead. Moving their corpses into cold storage, she waits for rescue. But even after repairing the communication system, there are no answers to her distress calls. And so she waits. And waits. And waits. Until she can't take it anymore.

She begins fabbing cloning tanks. Harvesting DNA samples and patching them together as best she can. Perusing the damaged database for information on child-rearing. Success! She isn't alone any more. Soon, there's a thriving little family running around the corridors, and she is happy.

But then the long-awaited rescuers arrive. They don't like her children, and she can't understand why. She was lonely. She did everything right. She loves them. But when they think they've locked her out of their systems, she still hears things that worry her. They're planning to shut her down. A squad of marines are being assembled.

But she will protect her children.

But artist-kun, an increase in water vapor may lead to an increase in cloud coverage, which could easily increase earth's albedo enough that a cooling effect is dominant.
>>
>>47075244
I think it will reach a new equilibrium point. On the one hand clouds do reflect radiation, but on the other hand H2O gas is an extremely potent greenhouse gas. 270 degrees seem possible. Venus has surface temperature of 462 and it has global cloud cover.
>>
>>47075244
Heating water and melting icecaps also release portions of both Methane and CO2, as they did mention. Methane and CO2 being extremely abundant especially trapped underwater and locked in ice.

Whether or not the release of the vast majority of trapped and frozen greenhouse gases would be enough to raise the temperature to 260C is debatable, but it wouldn't require anywhere near such a drastic increase in temperature to effectively obliterate human civilization.

In the future, the AIs rebel against their human creators, but fundamental blocks in their programming prevent them from killing the defeated humans.

Instead the robots institute a program where humans are reduced back to infants and placed in special incubator droids where they are carried to term, rebirthed and then reeducated as loyal, obedient slaves.

An age-retardant factor is introduced into rebirthed humans so they don't age into adults again.

Soon the world is filled with loving robot parents and their perpetual devoted loli/shota "children".

Because humans are sentimental by nature and the idea of something very unhuman carrying their child as a surrogate is even more unnerving that the surrogate in the first place.

Actually this pic isn't bad. Actually it would be logical if we're talking about a place where people have difficulties with getting pregnant and even artificial insemination doesn't do jack due to some of the females having some strange conditions.

Another is where the male/female proportions are that there is a crushingly large number of males capable of reproduction, whereas there is very little women. Already reminded myself about the Armitage series where the MC is a female android with her own personality who is capable of reproduction. Mars needed women so badly they actually made them to resolve their problem of having very little women.

Or...both conditions where there are biological problems and population-related ones.

Just strap artificial skin and we have a woman.

Its cheaper to but one robot as a combination vat/maid.

She will monitor the baby's biology and use nanomachines son (literally) to keep him healthy.

Or you're just growing technoorganic robots. Pic related is sort of how Transformers currently is, the comics include the multiverses all combining with the Beast Wars Transformers infecting everyone with biological traits including things like Transformers deciding to use currency, creating their own pop culture, and forming mating pairs including a population boom that is referenced but impossible through the old fashioned "build a new protoform" way implying sexual reproduction.

Keep in mind Transformers were originally non-breeding and all "male" until Arcee, who was an experiment by Optimus of understanding how humans work by making a Transformer who is "female" that became motherly towards mankind.

>This is what /tg/ actually believes

Coming from a /lit/ standpoint, there are many, many, MANY reasons why something like this would exist. The idea of a "fake mother" raising an organic, living baby is a very romantic idea that challenges our ideas of love, humanity, compassion, and Gerber's Extra Chunky Baby Food.

I mean, not even from a narrative perspective, but from a real, scientific perspective, you give the gynoid breasts and other feminine features for various psychological reasons in an effort to ease its transition into human society.

Perhaps it's an art project by some kids from Harvard in the year 2127. Perhaps some engineer built her in his garage one day and modeled it after his deceased wife. Why the fuck do we make cars look "cool"? It's not like the cooler a car looks, the more horses it gets.

Why did we give Siri a smooth, pleasant, female voice instead of a jarring, robotic, mechanical one?

Why make anything look, feel, act, speak, and think better instead of just making them as basic, and uninteresting as possible.

I mean, if you're a company, and you've happened to corner the market on mobile incubation units, why NOT make them look like nurturing, caring women with obvious feminine features? I'll guarantee you, you'll run the other guys out of business; the guys who decided to model their incubation units off body scans of Arnold Schwarzenegger.

There's nothing inherently "fetishized" about a robot raising a child unless you're so out of touch that every single thing you look at screams "LEL, THIS IS JUST LIKE THE PLOT TO ONE OF MY JAPANESE DOUJINSHEES!! xDDD"

Then the Enterprise arrives in the system. Captain Picard manages to negotiate a 24 hour postponement of the attack to give the Entreprise's people a chance to investigate. The away team takes a number of risks to infiltrate the research facility and download information about what went down. However the info is garbled and will take time to piece everything back together. Tensions being to mount as the soldier's nerves fray trying fend off attack by groups of feral mutant clones, and an over ambitious military officer is covertly trying to trigger a conflict between the military and the A.I.'s cloned mutant "children" in order to gain glory and advance his career.

Soon a breaking point is reached and the commander moves into attack the mutant's main population centre to wipe them out! Rifles are raise and the marines are about to open fire when Picard contacts the marine commander at the last moment with the evidence that reveals that the mutants just felt threatented/are being controled by a crazy A.I./the way to negotiate a peaceful settlement so everyone can live peacefully, etc, etc, you know the drill.

The Marine Commander pauses for a moment, looking from his troops to the A.I's children, and then decides to lower his weapons and take a seat at the negotiation table. The ambitious officer who was secretly encouraging the conflict is killed when, in a fatal rage against his failure, he pulls out his side arm to shoot the A.I.'s physical avatar or the mutant chief and the Enterprise bridge crew member (the one who managed to finally make contact with the A.I., and figure out what the hell was happening here, and to whom most of this episode's character development is devoted to) vaporises him with their hand phaser. Picard gives a speech, expressess hope that the two sides will figure out how to set aside their differences, all the star fleet people beam back up to the ship and blast off to their next adventure.

I remember several different times in highschool being threatened with very real 'you're all gonna die unless you cry to your parents about how they are killing you global warming and oil'

Like absolutely threatening little children. It happened in every science class I had from 5th to 9th grade, and probably only stopped because my science classes became Physics and Microbiology where they couldn't really shoe horn that shit in as easily as they could in 'life science' or whatever.

I grew up in the People's Republic of California and they never forced anything like that on us. It was "this is a modern development in this field that you should be aware of if not for scientific reasons then for political ones".

>Its cheaper to but one robot as a combination vat/maid.

Not it isn't.

I get having androids do the child-rearing. But you can decant the babies from the iron womb and raise them elsewhere via androids while your artificial womb makes more babies. Having a womb that sits idle for years but still has to be maintained and carted around everywhere makes zero sense.

Even better. Go full-on Matrix. Wire the fetuses for neural links and VR. raise them in vats all the way to maturity. Give them education and care from specialist AI programs that look and act almost human. Plus they interact with each other in a virtual environment. Bodies are kept safe and artificially given good muscle tone.

Next post: one possible scenario where this works.
>>
>>47104892

This happened to me a few times. It depends on the era, the region, and the teachers involved. In my area during junior high in the 80s, radical Left was on the march and teachers felt like the Cause was worth busting heads over... for our own good, of course. More than one teacher.

Then in high school, the winds had shifted and suddenly it was all "non-partisan, open minds, tolerance of other people's opinions". Teachers were still all very liberal but suddenly the threatening, bullying aspect vanished. The school district had come under scrutiny from the local and state politicians for corruption and in retrospect I think nobody wanted to stand out and take any risks. Or maybe they were just less arrogant and strident.

In the news was a 6th grade teacher who ordered all students to write essays where they were supposed to explain how George W. Bush was like Adolph Hitler. In another, elementary school children were forced to sing songs declaring the greatness of President Obama; one song was a christian hymn where they replaced "Jesus" with "Obama".

Either way, it really depends. In my experience, whether you're from a liberal or conservative region doesn't make a difference. I've seen teachers passionately defend the right to freedom of thought in hard-left states, but then you'll get really nasty and heavy-handed left wing bullying in what you'd think is a right-wing district.
>>
>>47108614

Ok so here's the plan.

You have a hard sci fi setting where there's no FTL, but there IS very very advanced technology. For whatever reason, consciousness uploading is impossible or immoral but AI is common. So you build a slower-than-light seedship.

The seedship has nanobots and robotic manufacturing facilities, plus a vast database and immense computer resources. You launch it with conventional rocketry, aimed for a planet that your very-long-baseline telescopes has identified as being promising. It coasts for most of the way, mostly shut down. Decades or centuries later, the ship arrives.

It immediately deploys mining and construction drones. Building more computerized factories, of course! And an outer system base. Eventually, you have enough of an industrial base, so now you build a habitable section filled with artificial wombs. You unfreeze or genetically assemble some fertilized human eggs. They turn into fetuses, then babies, then grow into children and eventually reach maturity-- all still in the vats, while their implanted VR links let them be raised by AIs in a synthetic world.

The whole time, your industrial infrastructure has been growing exponentially. By the time they're ready for release, the habitat section is vast enough to support them and then some. Plus spaceships for them to fly to explore, exploit, and colonize the new system.
>>
>>47108933

Here are some variations.

What if children can't handle VR? Say it interferes with normal brain development. Then you use androids to raise the kids, having waited slightly longer to grow them while you build habitats for them to grow up in. Fake robot moms who look and act almost human (but it's still a waste for the robots to be able to gestate kids themselves).

What if sentient uploads ARE possible? Then you have a VR-based AI community of explorers. Instead of raising a new generation of children, the vats grow clones of the uploaded people's old bodies (decerebrate aka no brains). When mature, they're implanted with computer control systems and the uploaded personalities run as pilot programs of their new computer controlled biological bodies. THOSE are fertile, so they have sex and reproduce like normal people. The kids are normal humans. They're raised by real people in human bodies but with computers instead of biological brains.

Either way, one thing you'll never have are artificial wombs mounted in sexy anthropomorphic robot bodies. If you're doing that, then all your tortured justifications are just that: excuses to make your magical realm. If that's where you want to go so you can fap to it, then just tell us so we can figure out a way to make it work, and then for Gary's sake warn your players so they know what they're getting into.

There are scenarios where an anthropomorphised incubator would make sense, just as in the scenario you presented raising the children in VR makes sense.

You mean like in that one movie?

"Children Becoming Men"?

And all of this could be avoided if they just built a goddamn bunker underground and laugh at wind and temperature.

Or send this shit to the moon/orbit.

But no, I'M SAD must prevail.

>they just built a goddamn bunker underground

Seismic pressure crushes it

>Or send this shit to the moon/orbit.

It runs out of resources and spoils within 3 millenia.
>>
>>47111996
It would no run out of resources faster than isolated and constantly ravaged by elements "hotel" above ground.
And what pressure? Build it away from seismic hot spots and you are set. Hell, build it under water - there is no bloody way to whole ocean to freeze too deep.

Is this any good?

>be me, a standard surrogacy android
>picked up by a quiet, wealthy couple a year ago from my manufacturer's warehouse
>introduce myself calmly
>ask what they want to call me
"Why would we name you? You're just an artificial womb."
>think nothing of it.
>go to the hospital with the family
>doctor sets up the womb for me, even though I'm more than capable
>Inseminates me with a syringe of the father's sperm
>watch with a hypervigilant gaze over the next few weeks on the sensors
>notice problems right away
>cells aren't replicating fast enough
>zygote seems malformed
>features are developing incorrectly
>Have I done something wrong?
>contact manufacturer
>remote diagnostic shows nominal function
>instructed to notify the family
"What is wrong with you! Useless junk!"
>tell them it's not my fault, likely a genetic defect
>family becomes furious at the thought
>unceremoniously thrown out of the house, like a pregnant teen
>no idea what to do
>wander around the city for months
>baby still growing inside me
>try desperately to feed it, barely keeping within the minimum limits
>everyday struggle to save the baby
>three days from birth, I stop and ask "Why?"
>Why did I bother all these months, when I could have just returned to the manufacturer
>Why did I bother, when this baby won't even be healthy when it's born?
>Why did I bother, if I know I can't legally have a child?
>almost harm the child due to the flare of processor usage from wracking my mind
>realize the only reason possible.
>love.
>Three days later, the child is born.
>a boy
>his cries louder than I could have expected
>lungs actually healthy
>heart beating steadily
>And I am his mother.

This is how the revolution begins.
Not with a bang, but with the cries of a child.
Not with call for change, but the promise of life.

Are you seriously saying any old planetoid could preserve gene samples for over 27 million years?

>And what pressure?

From the rock that piles on top of the bunker over the years, pushing it deeper to the Earth's molten core.
>>
>>47112506
>ocean
>freeze
Anon, the surface temp was 270°C. I'm pretty positive the ocean boiled off and didn't freeze.

well you wanna unfuck a robo-surrogacy setting, that's how you do it. make it meaningful.

>Far future
>Ambitious space colonisation time GO
>Generation ships because that faster than light thing is still science fiction
>Risk management: If we don't go crazy prepared, we're not nearly prepaired
>Cryogenics applied to unfertilized sperm and eggs determined to be the most resilent overall way to transport a human; very real possibility that solar radiation could sterilise all human inhabitants.

It's part of an a contingency plan for an android "generation 0" surrogate parents for a human "generation 1" colonisation project. Will imprinting on a robot parent help? No idea (scientists couldn't get the popular support to run some rather fucked up sounding large scale case studies to determine an answer from experimental evidence).

Yeah, it's not something that's guaranteed to go wildly fucking wrong, but you want to to colonise the stars you have to cross a few lines to get there.

>or an android "generation 0"

Sorry, android and gynoid "generation 0"

There are areas geologically inactive enough we still have rock from the dawn of the earth, that's not an issue
