The year is 2040
Humanity was crushed by the Fleet of Fog, and can't risk losing the firepower they still have left.
They had to watch as their navies were all destroyed by ships that brought them hope and victories long ago.
But now, they can see these ships in a new light...

This quest runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting around 4-6 PM EST

>Twitter, so you can get notified when I run, when I'm unable to run, answers to QA questions that I miss, and when I give hints to future threads or fluff:
https://twitter.com/BoatKunQM

You are the Battleship USS North Carolina, and are ready to take back the seas from the Fleet of Fog!

Last time on Kantai Collection of Blue Steel, we talked to Houston for a little bit, and then the thread died.

"So what does everyone do when we're not fighting the Fog?" you ask.
"We typically relax somewhere, go somewhere to eat, or just talk."

"I was out on the water, near a Fog Destroyer squadron, when I went to investigate, they attacked."
"And then what?"
"I trained one gun on each ship and sunk them before they got their Klein Fields up."
"And then you found your way here?"
"Yeah. Drones spotted me and led me to here."

>Ask her a question (Anything else in particular? Give me the question)

>I was told that my fairies cold only handle 2 upgrades at this time, so how do I become stronger to be able to use more upgrades?

>>Converse with her (Something other then questions)

I'm almost out of questions, so would this option let NorCal (Carol) talk to her for general stuff, like normal day-to-day stuff, or whatever girls normally talk about? (I'm not a girl, I have no idea what to say here!) Other than that, is there any kind of pre-arranged events we cold see here on the base?
>>
>>47221095
>What classes of shipgirls are on this base? and how many of them for each type?
>>
>>47221296
It's just you four right now, not counting Lexington. We know this IC. There are many other Shipgirls in the world however.
>>47221296
General stuff, and there is a Spa nearby, separate from the healing bath, which isn't used too often due to having Klein Fields. The converse option will be considered Other/Write-In for now
>>47221095
"I was told that my fairies could only handle two upgrades at this time, so how do I become stronger to be able to use more upgrades?"
"We get them from improving in combat, at times it's almost like a refit of sorts. Based on what Argy's told us, more advanced options and derivations of current equipment. She has two 6-inch Photon Cannon revolvers that she got through her upgrades."

>Ask her a question (Anything else in particular? Give me the question)

Shit, that sounds so cool! Revolver Argonaut!

>So what else is there to do on this base?
>>
>>47221632
>Gather everyone and go somewhere to eat
This was an option offered earlier, can we do this to just get more people to interact with at the same time? Also so that the other shipgirls can talk to each other for dialogue that doesn't need to be initiated by us personally. This one-on-one talk is kinda boring after all.
>>
>>47221632
>How is shipgirl made?
>>
Man, if there's so few of us here in the base, and we're the only Battleship, then this base is kinda small.

I wonder if we can use the firing range to test out the new upgrades for the rig? If nothing else, at least we get to blow shit up for fun! I'm also wondering just how strong our Klein fields are in comparison to the others.
>>
>>47222167
You know what we could do?

Have a tea party with Lexington and the other ship girls while on Lexington.
>>
Sorry if answering some of these before QA is an issue for you guys.
>>47222167
Lexington has a stronger Klein Field, Hailey has the weakest, and Houston's and Argy's are slightly weaker then yours.
>>47221898
In universe, nobody knows. I can't tell you guys anything that could answer this for a while.
>>47221778
A weapon to surpass Metal Gear. It's based on her two 6-inch deckguns irl.
>>47221632
"Well, I'm gonna finish interrogating you for now," you say with a grin. "I'm gonna go get everybody, and then we'll all go to get some food."
"Sounds like fun," Houston replies.

You gather everyone, and you find several places nearby that you can go to. Since you got everyone together, it was your choice on where to go.

No. The Kebab Shop was discovered when I looked up places near NBSD, and I just had to include it. There is also dozens of Mexican places around, as we are in San Diego, and you can look this up on google maps. A Tea Party on Lexington is just a really good idea one of you guys had that I didn't think of at all.

You decide that you will all have a Tea Party of sorts on board Lexington. Not too formal, but a great way to relax and enjoy yourselves.

You all get over to Lexington and everyone walks up the gangway and make your way up to the flight deck. You pass several scientists studying the ship, but they're too busy conducting tests and scans to notice four Shipgirls and a Mental Model walking by.

Once everyone is there, you realize that you'd forgotten to bring tea, much less anything at all.

You're just about to tell everyone that you'll be right back when Silver particles begin coming out of Lexington's smokestack. They settle on the deck and form a table, chairs, various snacks, and tea.

Lexington grins. "I'm the one hosting this after all."

"H-how? W-what?" you stutter.
Lexington's grin grows larger. "Nanomaterials."

You turn around to ask the others if they can do that as well, but find them equally stunned.

"How are you doing that, and is that food safe to eat?"
"I can try to teach you if you want, but you'd have to get nanomaterials on your own afterwards. And yes, it's perfectly safe. It should be the same as any normal tea, sandwhiches, and shortbread cookies, all the way down to the atomic level," she boasts.

Meh, I'd bet we'd have much more motivation to learn if we had a taste(heh) of what kind of stuff we could do with it. Still, does this base even have Nano-material production capability? I thought it required either specialized ships or capital ships that had the size for the spare room and processing capabilities to do that kind of conversion.

Lexington has/makes her own. Fog Carriers produce planes in this setting, and the more you can make, the better.

You take a bite of some of the foods, and drink some tea, and determine that everything tastes good and is safe to eat.

Everyone sits down to drink tea and eat snacks, and when it's all been eaten, and everyone's gotten up, the table and chairs collapse back into nanomaterials.

"You want me to teach you how to use nanomaterials, right?"
"Hell yeah I do!" you enthusiastically reply.
"You have to focus on them strongly, and think about whatever it is that you want them to do. For starters, try to make a chair like the ones we were sitting in before."

You begin to focus on the nanomaterials, trying to make them form into a chair...

You focus as hard as you can, and the nanomaterials slowly begin to move to your will, and manage to form the chair.
"Good, now try to make a weapon with the nanomaterials," Lexington instructs.
The chair collapses back into nanomaterials, and you focus even harder.

You manage to make a quad Bofors, and you fire it skyward once, and find that it actually fires, with a loud WHUMP, much to the fright of everyone on base.

As soon as it fires, your control slips, and it collapses.

"You did better than I expected that you would, even though it's your first time~"

>[NEW UPGRADE OPPORTUNITY]
>PICK 1

>On-board Nanomaterial Production, Storage, and Enhanced Control: The name explains itself. With time, you can do more and more advanced things with nanomaterial if you choose to specialize with it over time.

>Super-Graviton Cannon: Freezes enemy ships it place, in a line when firing, but you must stop moving as well (aside from rotation, but this deals less damage while hitting more targets), before firing a beam powerful enough to destroy the smaller Battleships or anything smaller in one direct hit. Can only be used once during a battle, and make it count.

>Corrosive Torpedo, a.k.a Missile Bullet Hell: An ungodly amount of Corrosive warheads that can be fired at such a high density that an enemy will have no choice but to destroy, unless their Klein Field is loaded up fully. You can let out 2 barrages per battle, or use half or quarter barrages 4 times and 8 times respectively.

>>On-board Nanomaterial Production, Storage, and Enhanced Control: The name explains itself. With time, you can do more and more advanced things with nanomaterial if you choose to specialize with it over time.

Oh fuck yes, Before getting any of the other shinies, THIS is the thing to pick! We need to have ways to make Nano-materials ourselves in order to be able to both experimental and learn about it AND to rearm and repair ourselves with it.
>>
>>47224213
>On-board Nanomaterial Production, Storage, and Enhanced Control

Does this allow us to fire more missiles, when we get them that is? Maybe even let us build/get a few planes for enhanced gun-fire accuracy and AA capability.
>>
>>47224213
>>On-board Nanomaterial Production, Storage, and Enhanced Control
Fuck, I want the corrosive torps so bad, but this seems more appropriate for now.
>>
>>47224213
You feel a sensation like you had when you first arrived on base, and you summon your rig without thinking about it. It's glowing and a fairy sticks out of a hatch with a thumbs up, signalling that it's time for an upgrade.

The fairies install an On-board Nanomaterial Production, Storage, and Enhanced Control module not too far from your engines. They finish almost as quickly as they started.

With time and use, this upgrade should allow for more complex and useful techniques and additional abilities, from false copies of yourself that could eventually have functional photon cannons, to becoming an Aircraft Carrying Battleship without sacrificing any firepower, the sky's the limit with nanomaterials.

So what did everybody think?

Are all of you guys okay with threads being this length? It's really a matter of sleep for me.

>Don't forget to tune in on Tuesday, when a new Shipgirl arrives. I'm actually visiting her this weekend, so if you don't remember me possibly saying it before, speculate away. I'll post pics of her stern in the thread and on twitter.
>>
>>47224658
The session lasted for about somewhat more than 4 hours, not bad at all. There would probably be more players joining in at a later time then earlier, but eh, limits are limits.

By the way, I'm the Anon that was pissed about missing the Tuesday session. sorry for tone of my post at that time, but finding out that I missed the entire thread due to being too used to checking twitter accounts in the same way for every QM I follow made me somewhat angry, at myself as well for not simply scrolling down a page once in a while.

That being said, the conversations updates and interactions were the smallest and least interesting, probably because some of us were too used to something like Merc's way of having a personality already ready to interact with people for talking, or at least having topics of interest that were prepared and listed to vote for.

Still has good potentials for a quest, keep it up!
>>
>>47224658
Do we get a character sheet or something to keep track of upgrades? Even something as simple as a post after the OP would work, or a pastebin.
>>
>>47224658
When's the next battle? do we simply respond to threats or are there active missions to choose?
>>
>>47224880
We respond to threats, after all, we are on the defensive against the Fog.
>>
>>47224658
How old, in terms of time since awakening, are the other in comparison to us? Just wanted to know who has been around the longest.
>>
>>47225050
Argonaut, Houston, Hailey, and then you.

Lexington is technically the oldest.

>>47224862
I will try to get one made if I can remember to.

>>47224840
No problem man. I fixed the thing on twitter right away after I saw your post, which happened to be the next morning.

As for interactions, it is my first quest after all, and you are pretty much right about why the interactions aren't better then they are.
>>
>>47225402
Whoops, I forgot my trip. Sorry.
