THE RULES: http://pastebin.com/BEsprkBZ
THE TANK: http://pastebin.com/sJsgig6B
THE DIVISIONS: http://pastebin.com/xCQZAdqU

You pore over the map with Griselda over a cup of coffee. With the heartbreaker of yesterday, combined with the now damaged tanks (The Sherman, the IS-2, the Panzer III, and the Pershing got off easy with simple one hit kills. But your Cromwell had a burnt out engine, not to mention that the Churchill is only barely functioning at all.), spirits were rather low. You had to push on though if you wanted to split the set with Heinlein today. This is your only chance to do so. “So here’s what I think. They probably think that with yesterday, we’ll be pushovers. So they might come up Route 15 again, try and attack us. We should try for some sort of dig in defense, and use our fast tanks to flank around to the rear, hopefully catch their Flag tank.”

“Sound idea,” you say.

“Is your tank ready?” You all look over to see Oleg, Stack, and Winona hurriedly tinkering with the engine, black smoke is rising out of it.

“I hope it is.”

“You’re going to lead that force, now… I recommend taking Skyline, they used that road last time to flank us.”

“Wouldn’t they have someone guarding that?” you ask.

“Well, maybe, but it’s better than wasting your engines out on climbing up to Armstrong. It’s up to you.” You nod at that. “Other than that, we should be set. Our flag tank for today happens to be the Pershing.” Oh fuck. “Look, Serafina listens to you, but, it’s a lot of pressure so I’d talk to her before the match starts, alright?”

“Alright,” you say. She pats your shoulder, smiling. “And hey, if we win, I better not be wearing that outfit.”

She runs a finger across her chest, grinning. “Cross my heart. Dismissed, Ellie.”

> This particular Sherman Jumbo is known to be the famous tank which was the first to liberate the stricken defenders at Bastogne. Thought lost to an unknown raid, this tank was found again, and restored to full functioning order. Strangely, despite the reputation of Sherman Jumbos being rather clumsily heavy and slow, “Cobra King” is actually relatively speedy and agile for REGULAR Shermans.

Here you guys go, to be honest we didn't make much of a dent. Kind of hope they use the 8 tanks that did survive last match, I want revenge.

“Mmmmm!” Serafina pouts furiously as she sits upon her Pershing tank. “I don’t wanna be the Flag tank! Being a Flag tank is dumb! Głupi!” The other Poles all groan and mutter in Polish, sitting their respective spots in the Pershing.

“Serafina, I’m jealous,” you say. “I’d like to be the Flag tank for a change.”

“Hmph!” She turns her nose up. “False words!” Where did Serafina get the thesaurus to tell you that you’re a liar?

“Look, it’s an important responsibility. I know this means you won’t be directly engaging the enemy because of our lack of uh… well, tanks and tanks that can actually fight Heinlein. But at least try and go into the match with some enthusiasm?”

She grumbles, folding her arms. “… dobra.” She rests her chin on the turret cupola, still grumbling.

Serafina squints at you. The other Poles look at you as if you just promised them something incredibly good. “Like what?”

You shrug. “I dunno, whatever you’d like.”

“Hm.” She nods at you. “We shall see.” Right, right.

You check your watch. The match is starting a little earlier today. That means there’s no time to have fun at the fair. You decide to swing on over to see what the crew is doing.

And judging by the state of your tank, things are going mildly well. Oleg coughs, waving some smoke out of his face. “I have not seen this much smoke since Siberia!” He stands up, groaning as he picks up his toolkit. “Solnyshka! Engine should be fine for now, but do not stress the revs. I may have to come back and fix it later after match, okay?”

“Thanks, Oleg,” you say. Oleg nods, walking away to tend to the Churchill. Winona, Stack, Ingrid, and Josephina are already at their positions. “Everybody ready?”

“Should be,” says Stack. “Think we can get them today?”

“Of course we can. We always win our flag matches you know?” You fold your arms. “I’ve got faith that we’re due for a win today.” Everyone dismounts Oliver, ready. “I believe, you guys. Do you?”

Everyone looks at each other, then sort of shrugs. “I do!” says Josephina.

Stack smirks, then raises her hand. “I do too!”

Ingrid huffs. “Let’s just fucking get this over with.”

Enthusiastic as ever, Ingrid.

You meet on the stage again across from the Heinlein crews. Dix has elected to fight in this battle it seems, along with some fresh faces but quite a few commanders from last match as well, utilizing new tanks too. You fold your arms as Dix comes over to greet you all. “Hey, hey, cowboys. Where’s the one girl that destroyed all of our Chaffees?” You all look over to Iris. “Well, hey, hey! Come here!” Iris walks over, stiff as a board. “Kudos, yeah? You could’ve had a shot if you were in a better tank!”

“Perhaps,” says Iris. “It was a good match regardless, Captain Hauser.”

“Ooooh, formal!” Dix responds with a swift punch to the arm, making her flinch. “I like that! Formal people are real unflappable.” She points to you. “Seriously, it was really pissing me off how she just wouldn’t die.”

“Well, Dix. We’re gonna make you mad again. Because we’re here to win.”

Dix smirks, looking over at Griselda. “You’re raising some mighty confident crews, Gris. It’ll be an honor to put them in their place.” She walks back to her end as the judges arrive. You look to the bleachers and see that many students have come by from the school to support you. Even the Cheerleaders are out in force, chanting the “I Believe in LGA” song.

Now that you think about it, has anyone actually heard the Lafayette Girls Academy March?

“Let the match begin!”

-

-

You stand turned out in the hatch of Oliver the Cromwell tank. The flare shoots up into the sky, signaling the start of the match. “Alright, advance!” The Sherman, the IS-2, the Pershing, and the Churchill start moving towards Route 15. “We’ll dig in around Route 15. Ellie, you got Suvorov, find a way around their flank!”

“Ellie, want us to come with you?” asks Serafina.

“Suvorov, come with me. We’re flanking south.” You turn your tanks southward and start going down the thin road into one of the more twisty and windy hill passes.”

“We’re going to start digging in here,” says Griselda. “Serafina, don’t move, just stay behind us, don’t dig in. We need you to be ready for a quick retreat.”

“Got it,” says Serafina. “Ugh…”

Josephina and Ingrid turned out of their respective hatches, enjoying the fresh breeze on their faces. “You know, it’s not so bad,” says Josephina. “Driving our tank on a nice country road, not having to worry about being shot at for now.”

Ingrid rolls her eyes. “Great, now even Josephina is trying to make the situation sound good.”

“I’m just saying…” Josephina blushes a little, pouting.

Suvorov follows closely behind, turned out of her turret. Patton and Giap are turned out of the turret side hatches as well, looking around. “Commander!” She must mean you. “How much farther!?”

“We’re not even halfway, just relax,” you call.

“Suvorov.” You motion forward with your hand. “Take point from us, we’ll follow behind.”

“Yes, a chance to show our stuff!” The Panzer III speeds past you, barreling down the road at flank speed.

“Don’t strain the tank!” you call out. Too late, they’re gone. “Ingrid.” You lower yourself down, and find Ingrid consulting a map. “Do you have an ETA on when we might there?” you ask.

Ingrid looks back, adjusting her glasses as she fumbles with her headset. “Er… might be another twenty minutes at this speed.” Ugh. You fold your arms, grimacing a little.

“This is Griselda, we see them coming up the road,” she says. “Looks like ten tanks in our view, there might be more coming. I see Pershings and Jumbos.” Only half so far. Rest might be staying back.

In fact, you got a hunch. The Flag Tank is probably staying back. Probably with the Elite crews. Ugh, facing Elite tanks with just the two of you? That’ll be something to handle. At least Jacksons theoretically have thin armor.

“We’re at the rally point!” says Suvorov. “What are your orders?”

> Continue up Skyline to flank the advancing tanks

With the bendy and twisty roads now out of the way, you were free to open up the engines to climb up and move up on Skyline. “Griselda, I’m going to flank them on Skyline over Route 15! Stand by!” You hear some cannon fire. Yep, it’s begun!

> KO: CPL. “KODIAK” FENTON (M36 Jackson “Hood”)
> KILL CREDITED TO: GRISELDA POOL (M4 Sherman)

“First blood! Keep firing!” yells Griselda.

You and Suvorov arrive on the ridge to see the tanks now in their ambush defense formation from yesterday. Apparently they must have figured you’d pull this stuff again. The Pershings are all in front, with the Shermans (Including Cobra King) behind, followed by the Jacksons, and the M45 Pershings bringing up the rear. All in all, the only tanks missing were the Elite Shermans and their Flag tank.

One Sherman is blasted, its turret warping and gun almost falling out of its mount.

> KO: CPL. “STRIPESY” POSEY (M4A3E2 Sherman “Trumbull”

“Our first kill! NAVAL STUDIES RESCUE RULES!” yells Taney.

You look over to see that your friendly tanks have dug themselves quite deeply, digging themselves into hull down positions and packing dirt on the lip in front of their glacis plates. Should buy them some time.

Suddenly, breaking formation is Cobra King. It busts out of the defense formation, forcing everyone in behind to readjust. It turns itself towards you, then starts barreling up at you. Oh boy. “Cobra King is coming at us, shoot it!” Iris and Suvorov’s Pershing attempt to get shots off.

But to everyone’s surprise, they all miss. Cobra King actually outruns the shells.

This is going to be a long day.

“Back it up!” You and Suvorov retreat back behind the ridge before you can even get a shot off. Cobra King hurls itself over the ridge, firing a shot at you. It grazes across the turret of the Panzer III. “Suvorov!”

“Ah! We’re okay! We’re okay!” The huge gash across the turret side along with the dislodged turret hatch don’t really indicate that. You fire off a smoke bomb, dousing yours and Suvorov’s position in obscuring smoke as you two begin backing up further on Skyline.

“Ellie, talk to me, what’s going on up there!?” she asks.

“It’s the fucking Jumbo!” you yell. “The really fast one!”

“Aah! Damn it! Well- don’t do anything stupid! Try and disable it somehow!”

You turn out again and yell over to Suvorov. “Suvorov, keep backing up, fire everything we got at it!” She salutes, and the two of you fire a shell each from your guns. They pass through the smoke, and you do hear one “dink” sound, which indicates a bounce. Of course. Jumbos.

“Ellie, Ellie!” Ingrid gets your attention as she pokes her head outside of her hatch. “I think I can see their flag tank down there!” You look to the right to see the Flag tank, sitting down the road, surrounded by the Elite Shermans.

“Go after it!” yells Suvorov. “We’ll buy you some time!” Wait, think about this first. Surrounded by five Elite Shermans. It’ll be a difficult prospect to even go in alone. You’d need Suvorov to help you assault the area.

“We’re dead!” says Regina. “Sorry, Naval Studies Rescue will have to save you another time!”

You groan. Ugh. As you barrel towards the smoke cloud, you can only hope that the line will hold long for you to take out Cobra King AND take out the Flag tank as well. That’s the dream anyway. Suddenly, Cobra King roars out of the smoke cloud, racing towards you two. “Oh shit! Watch out!”

It fires, sending a shot careening towards you. You nearly get a haircut out of how close that was. Time to button up! You look through the periscope to see Suvorov firing at Cobra King, then shifting left. The shot only plinks off the front armor as it rushes towards you.

But it does turn its turret towards her. “Josephina, bring us around to its side!”

“Oui!” she yells. Oliver shifts right, trying to build up more speed.

“Come on, come on! They’re about to get a fix on Suvorov!”

Too late, Cobra King fires again. This time, it lands a shot right into the suspension. The tracks explode apart and the tank goes careening out of control. “WE’LL MEET AGAIN COBRA KING!” yells Suvorov as it slides out of view.

Alright, if you can cause enough damage to the advancing column while they’re not in ambush defense, you might be able to draw out the Flag tank in fact. Desperation isn’t when people make good decisions after all. “Griselda, I’m going try and slow them down!”

“Copy!”

You quickly speed past Suvorov and find yourself a nice little perch to fire down on the advancing column. There they are! “Go for the engine blocks, Winona!”

“Got it!” The tank rocks back from another blast.

And you receive another kill. The leading tank in fact. The shot lands smack dab in their engine, causing an eruption of fire to burst out of it. “Wooo!” you yell.

> KO: CPL “KITTY” DANSON (M26 Pershing “Varner”)

“Serafina, poke out and take a shot, everyone let them have it now!” The remaining three tanks in defense fire back at the column, scoring kills left and right.

The remaining Heinlein tanks start reversing, trying to get past the wreckage of their fallen. “We got them!” yells Griselda. “Everyone, keep firing, eliminate as many as you can!”

“Ellie, it’s Suvorov! I got Patton scouting out the south! She’s telling me the Flag tank is on the move towards Route 15!” Probably to rally with the survivors and find a place to hold out. They need to go on the defense now that offense has failed.

> Peel back and start harassing the Flag Tank

You hear more cannon fire as your tank starts peeling away. “Griselda, we’re going after the Flag tank and slowing them down!”

“Got it!” yells Griselda. “We’ll mop up the rest!”

> KO: CPL “BUTTERCUP” YELICH (M45 Pershing “Kilby”)
> KILL CREDITED TO: IRIS BLACKBOURNE (Churchill IV)

You continue speeding off and away up the ridge, then find the Flag tank being escorted in by its honor guard of five Elite tanks. That was a nice thought Dix, leaving those Elite tanks behind to guard the flag, but not at the expense of your armored column. “Fire a shot at them, Winona!” Your Six Pounder fires, knocking against the side of one of the E8s. They all stop, and begin turning their turrets to you. Oh shit. “BACK!” you yell. You narrowly avoid the full barrage of six tanks.

> KO: CPL “LACEY” WILCOX (M4A3E2 Sherman (76) “Rucker”
> KILL CREDITED TO: SERAFINA MACZEK (M26 Pershing)

“Last one is on the run!” yells Griselda. “Serafina, stay in the back! Me and Iris will lead the charge!”

“Give us some smoke cover!” Stack loads a new smoke bomb. And it goes, spraying the area around you with smoke. Perfect for popping in and out. “Alright, Josephina, in and out, carefully!”

“Okay!” Josehpina peers through the driver’s hatch, goggles on and helmet strapped tight to her head. You poke out of the smoke, and see the E8s still targeting you. “Oh shit, fire, fire!” They fire back at you, all of them. And while most miss as you retreat back into the smoke, you’re suddenly dazed by a 90mm shell grazing the turret. The tank rocks to the side from the impact.

“Ah!” Winona is thrown out of her seat.

“Winona!” You pick her back up carefully, and help her back in. “Alright you alright!?”

“Yeah, yeah!” Winona grabs the controls again.

Ingrid groans, holding her headphones. “I HATE BEING SHOT AT!” she screams.

You poke out of the smoke again, then look down at Route 15. You see the remaining Jackson fly right past the Flag tanks, apparently not even bothering to rally back with them. You look over again to see quite the sight.

The Sherman and the Churchill are pushing the wreck of a Pershing towards the Flag tank. Streaks of embers fly as they push the useless hulk around as a shield. They’re using it for cover. The girl still in the Pershing yells at them indistinctly. The E8s fire at Griselda and Iris, but their shots go wide or they hit the Pershing’s backside.

Now that you’re attacking from two different angles, and with Griselda and Iris pressing the attack, now seems like the time…

>>47259155
Our gun's not great at this range so

>Charge in
>>
>>47259305
So we're looking at 70-75mm pen with AP. We'll go through the side easy but that's a pretty easy shot to bounce if it goes anywhere near the upper glacis. Probably better to try and close while they're distracted.

Yeah, though a better order would probably be

>Charge Through smoke
>Emerge and begin firing now that you're at closer range.
This way we take about 100-200m of bumrushing across open ground out of the equation, incidentally the part where we'd be least able to respond to enemy fire and they'd have the greatest advantage.
>>
>>47259400
Oh and tell Josephina to watch the revs, accelerate nice and steady if we can.
>>
> Charge in.

“Stack, last of our smoke, use it!”

You fire off one last smoke barrage, and it lands smack dab between you and them. Perfect for masking a charge. As you charge through the smoke, you hold on for dear life and pray that the Elite E8s don’t just snipe you through the smoke. Please God, please don’t let this be in vain.

As you burst through, you see that only one of the Elite E8s has actually trained his gun on you. Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck

“Josephina!” yells Stack.

“AAAHHH!” The entire tank screams you all drift right. A second late, you would’ve been pasted by a 76mm round. The Elite E8 continues to track you, stopping entirely. The formation tries to compact together to protect the Flag tank, but to no avail. “Josephina! Get in, get in! Get in, now!” You see a gap. “There! Winona!”

“Firing!” yells Winona.

The gun fires, screeching through the air and slamming into the side of the Jackson. And just after that, the E8 snipes you. The engine again bursts into flames as you all scream. Oliver keeps going, heedless that his engine is on fire and that he shouldn’t be moving. One of the tracks snaps apart, spraying metal parts everywhere as you begin sliding towards the flag tank.

And with an audible “plink”, you tap it.

Out pops a white flag. Two in fact, yours and the Flag tanks.

“Horseshit.” Dix pouts furiously, a blush on her face as you and Griselda are debriefed by her. “You could not have survived all of those Elite crews targeting you at once.”

“Well, only one was firing at me,” you say.

“Hmph.” Dix grumbles a little. “Well, I’ll have to talk to them then. This was really avoidable. And I hate avoidable losses.” She shakes her head, then offers her hand. “Still, good match though.” The three of you shake hands with each other. “All y’all got some guts, I will admit that. Hopefully we keep in touch, and hopefully I see you go farther in the tournament. Maybe a rematch in the postseason is in order.”

“Maybe it is,” you say.

She smirks. “I like the cut of your jib. Y’all got my number, call me up. Hey, maybe we’ll see each other at FleetFest too!” And with that, she turns around and walks away with her defeated crews.

All of you are awaiting transport away from the match locale in one of the many improvised parking lots. Griselda smiles at you. “Well, since we won today. I won’t force you to wear the outfit.” Yeeeeeeeee- “But.” She points to the Poles, who all eagerly await you talking to them. “Just saying.”

“They’re not going to force me to wear that thing,” you say.

“Oh, worse things can happen you know,” she says. You huff. “Still, good work, Elodie. You and Iris really carried us out there. I won’t forget it.” You nod at that, smiling. “By the way, Ellie. One more thing before you go. I might be able to scrounge enough money to give everyone a good allowance for parts and mods. It probably won’t be much, but in a couple days I’ll check in with you all about it, alright? You and Iris are gonna be priority for it.”

"We should step up our training if we want to win the next match we're outnumbered like this in."

I feel like we should be getting all the loaders to practice with Stack after/before studies at least 2-3 days a week, and the Commanders should be doing something Tankery related at very least every second day, stuff like studying any and all tank battles we can find (Suvo and co should be able to help with this) or decorum and discipline training with the Etiquette girls to help with staying focused under fire. Gunners can do theory on one day and hit the range on the next. Drivers should just drive their tanks as much as possible, on obstacle courses, in races, with the gunners firing on the move, and when they can't do that, spend time with Oleg learning how their tonks work and how hard they can push them.

Kind of rambled on but we're outnumbered, outfunded and outexperienced by a lot of schools here. If LGA wants to win or even make Finals we gotta be prepared to really work for it.

Why you.

“L-G-A. L-G-A. Ra-Ra-Ra.” The Polish all happily watch you, and not just the Polish, but the Historians, Naval Studies Rescue as well, The Etiquette Club, your crew, and even Griselda and her team. “Yeah!” yells the entire team.

“Great, because I’m never fucking doing this again.” The crowd bursts into laughter at your expense. Ugh, so embarrassing! So many people laughing at you!

It's become increasingly obvious that I can not stop cataloging things during quests. I've done it for at least two, maybe three other quests.

But, I bring it upon myself and I love it. So I guess I shouldn't complain.

> “… alright.”

You sigh, rolling your eyes. “Alright. Fine.” She raises her pomp oms, and you raise them too. Let’s get this over with.

Winona leads. “Who are we!? L-G-A! Who’s the best!? L-G-A! L-G-A! L-G-A! Wooo!” You both jump up, making your breasts bounce upwards. That’ll sure excite them. Judging by the hungry looks of the Poles and a very embarrassed looking face on Griselda, it is. “Ellie!” Winona arches her back, pointing her arms back at you and tilting her head like in one of those cartoons you watched some time ago. “Give me an L!”

You blink, then present your arms in an L position. “L.”

“Give me a G!”

… how the fuck do you make a G. She curves her arms inwards, much like a bodybuilder would. Oh. You do the same. “G.”

“Give me an A!” Okay, how the fuck do you do an A? She grins, blinking at you. A few of the girls laugh and chortle at your inability to form an A with just your arms. Well fuck you guys.

“Um.” You lower your arms at an angle. “A.”

“What’s that spell?!” she yells.

You’re not deaf, Winona! “L-G-A.”

“Yeah!” shouts everyone.

“I!” yells Stack. Oh, God not you too. She joins in, still wearing her tankery uniform but taking up a pair of pom poms too.

“I!” repeats everyone else.

“I believe!”

“I believe!”

“I believe in!”

“I believe in!”

They all look at you. Uh, what. “Um. L-… L-G-A?”

Everyone goes bonkers. “I believe in LGA! I believe in LGA! I believe in LGA! I believe in LGA! I believe in LGA! Whoo!”

Winona jumps for joy. “Wooo! I believe!” She immediately hugs you as everyone cheers, hyped up from the dance somehow!? How does this even happen!?

… and why are you feeling incredibly hype too?

Ugh. There’s more to cheerleading than you thought.

Not bad, honestly.

Hey, someone has to do Ingrid's work for now.

Though I can only claim cataloging of Killcounts. Whoever keeps a running tally of active tanks, also deserves praise.
>>
>>47260946
Ingrid will be the best scorekeeper and statistician if I ever figure out how to calculate stats for Tankery.
>>
>>47260935
That was only introduced with the Centurion onwards. WW2 British tanks didn't have boiling vessels.
>>
>>47260960
Yeah, all I can get is kills, mobility kills, accuracy. You could turn it into studying the particular tanks, what their top speeds are under certain commanders, elimination rate, etc.
>>
>>47260922
Honestly, my faith is waning a little.

Well at least we have a Hellcat Chassis. Does she know we have one and can convert it? Also has she scrounged the money for the Tiger II.
>>
>>47261002
Yeah, the thing that gets me about statistics is the math portion, I'm terrible at math as you all know.
>>
>>47261028

>>
>>47261043

>>
>>47261077
Considering that I am more a heart, grit and soul guy over a numbers guy...Yeah, yeah I am...the irony of me cataloging like this, is not lost upon me.

Its more an idea to east the burden, even if its just a little.
>>
>>47261102
According to Section 4 under participating vehicle specifications:

> 4. For vehicles with variants beyond the August 15, 1945 cutoff date, their eligibility will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
>>
>>47261102
Anon, you should know this by now, you NEVER switch your tank once you pick it. Upgrade it, sure, but never switch. Because that's how you make tonks sad.
>>
>>47261146
Well it did start production in November 1945 so hopefully they'll have mercy.

>>47261153
The Churchill can be passed on to a new crew when we get one, as it's a pretty good tank for noobs with its thick armour and wide tracks, but still as we've seen, very effective in the hands of a good crew.
>>
>>47261216
I guess but the etequtte club is our Japanese Brits from GUP. they probably like the slow tank.

If anything they might prefer the black prince.
>>
>>47261234
The Centurion Mk 2 is limited to a stately 40kph and has excellent suspension so they don't have to worry about any tea spillage.
>>
>>47261234
The problem with the BP is getting our hands on one. Much like the Centurion Mk 1s I imagine of the few built they're all firmly in possession of British Tankery teams if they've been recovered at all.
>>
>>47261268
but the same thing can be said for the MKII as well.

not to mention we can't force them to leave their tank if they don't want to, we're not the leader.
>>
>>47261283
800 Mk 2s were made, as opposed to the half dozen Mk 1s which were made before the war's end.
>>
>>47261313
and you don't think they were monopolized by the british schoools?

I'm saying maybe but i'm not sure if Iris will want to switch.
>>
>>47261357
Oh I've no doubt they've got most of them, but it's a better bet that we'll find one they're willing to part with, especially because it is technically over the cutoff date and knowing how strict ITL is its unlikely they've been able to get much use out of them prior to NATO.
>>
>>47261357
I agree, I see this as something that might be nice, but it's all about what Iris thinks. I mean, they are fond of it, they've named it, haven't they?
>>
>>47261403
I think they did,

Also isn't the black prince conversion possible but it include a huge overhaul on the churchill?
>>
>>47261268
Shame the Conqueror and Carnival are past the cutoff date.
>>
>>47261494
It's basically an entirely different tank, wider both in hull and tracks, with a new turret and turret ring, different armour profile etc.

The designs are similar but they're not the kind of changes you can make with modifications.

>>47261535
Well can you imagine how horrifying the Conq's FCS and gun would be?
>>
>>47261550
well damn, but we can at least increase the armor to more then a Tiger tank.
>>
>>47261550
If by "horrifying" you mean "awesome". But, in any case a good first big upgrade for her would probably be to a Churchill VII.
>>
>>47261598
>Churchill VII
More like the Churchill IX
>>
>>47261625
I said big upgrade. That's more like a moderate one. I'm talking big milestone, that's like steps one to 3. You know what I mean?
>>
>>47261625
Beat me to it. The VII is again a distinct design with some structural changes (wider hull/tracks) that would be really really hard to modify. The IX on the other hand is a III or IV with the VII's turret and additional armour.

The Churchill's engine compartment might be big enough to fit a Meteor now that I think about it though, which could be worth considering if we can get our hands on ones, though it'd require more doing than the one in our Cromwell did (whole new gearbox etc).
>>
>>47261680
>>47261685
Wasn't the IX basically the VII with a 6-punder?
>>
>>47261754
Nope, those generally just got the suffix LT (Light Turret).
>>
>>47261754
The IX was actually just a IV refitted with the turret of a VII, more armor, and modifications to the gearbox and suspension. Which reminds me, Iris could just get a QF 75mm right now. Which I think would almost make it a VI.
>>
>>47261982
Why would we give her the QF 75mm? It's got lower velocity and worse pen than the 6 pounder.
>>
I still think Iris and her girls should move to a Challenger or a Black Prince should we ever find one.

Or we can change our own Cromwell into a Challenger. The extra firepower will be appreciated, in my opinion.
>>
>>47261995
Nah, if we upgrade, we upgrade to a Comet, the Challenger's a bit of a mess and either way it'll be a new tank as they're both substantially different designs from the Cromwell.
>>
>>47261994
Does it? Well fuck me. I guess I just assumed that since it was a bigger gun refitted onto the Churchill later it'd be better.
>>
>>47262058
Nah, it's got substantially better HE performance, but as an AT weapon it's inferior in basically every respect.
>>
>>47262058
Bigger doesn't mean better, that's the Hitler thought process.
>>
>>47262050
I don't remember that much difference between the Crommie and the Comet, so unless you tell me the Comet can mount a 17 pounder, it's pic related.
>>
>>47262083
It can. The OQF 77mm HV.
>>
>>47262058
>>47262072
Just as an addendum, we were talking about this in yesterday's thread, but the 6 pounder is a really good AT gun and thoroughly outclasses the functionally identical US and UK 75mm guns.

>>47262083
The Comet's basically the best British tank that saw combat in ww2: a bit slower, with a better turret and strong mantlet and the 77mm gun which is essentiall a 17 pounder lite, firing the same shells with a different cartridge.
>>
On the topic of guns, what we do need to get is APCBC to replace our current AP rounds, and a stock of say a dozen APCR and maybe 5 or 6 APDS rounds for when we really need something to die.
>>
>>47262369
yeah but their not available yet.
>>
>>47262399
We just have to pester GS about it, it'll happen.
>>
>>47262083

>so unless you tell me the Comet can mount a 17 pounder

Jesus Christ, you'll just refuse to do any research will you.

>When the Cromwell's replacement - the Comet - was at the design stage, the 75 mm HV concept was reworked to fire the same projectiles as the 17-pounder through a shortened 17-pounder barrel, but retaining the 3-inch cartridge case firing from a standard 3-inch breech.

Its a 17 pounder on a simply better tank, and quite honestly the very first of the MBTs. The Comet is the legitimate shit when it comers to british tanks.
>>
>>47262369
Or we could just get the 95mm Howitzer and spam HEAT.
