My name is Cecile, and I'm sixteen years old. I already thought my life was odd, what with my parents having moved halfway across the country for their new job and leaving me in the care of my older sister... but then my best friend went and had a book shipped to my house that ended up giving me superpowers.

After taking a short nap, I'm now on the way to meet up with Irene and Theresa, who were kind enough to offer to help us do something about Faceless despite Charlotte's open aggression towards both of them.

I swear, she'd be perfect if not for that whole jealousy thing.

"Alright, I'm off," I say as I head for the door. "Be back in a few."
"Do you have your keycard?" Charlotte asks.

I do a quick search of my pockets and am relieved to find that it is indeed still there.

"Yup, got it," I nod.
"And your phone?"
"Uh-"

Crap, I -don't- have that. But where did I-

"Here you go," Charlotte says, reaching around to hand it to me. "You really ought to be more careful."
"Yeah, I know..." I groan. "Must've dropped it while I was asleep."

I say my temporary goodbyes and then hurry out of the room and straight for the elevator. And as always, there's a bit of a wait before the car actually reaches this floor. I guess that's the main drawback of having a room that's up this high...

Fortunately, I have a smooth ride down to the lobby with no stops along the way. Were I in a better mood, this would be the perfect opportunity to goof off.

The lobby is kind of empty today, with only about half the usual number of people that I'd usually find at this day of the week. Thanks to that, I have a pretty clear view of all the entrances regardless of where I am in the lobby.

And neither Irene nor Theresa are in sight.

But the only thing that alerted me to their approach was my getting a Synapse, and my range is like three or four blocks. As such, I don't think I've missed them or anything. But just in case, I pull out my phone that I almost left in the suite and give Irene a call.

Ringity rin-

"Cecile?" Irene calls out. "What's wrong, he hasn't already shown up, has he?"

"No," I shake my head. "I was just calling to say that I'm down here in the lobby to take you up to Charlotte's suite since you need a key to reach that floor."
"Oh," Irene says with a relieved chuckle. "Cool, we should be there in a couple of minutes."

it said we

ask it

"So Theresa's with you?" I ask.
"Yeah... though she's not 'Theresa' right now if you know what I mean."

Oscar. Of course.

"She says that we're better off playing this like the two of us aren't actually here just in case the security cameras are compromised, so just head on over to the elevator when you see us enter the building."

"Yeah, that makes sense," I say. "I'll just wander around until you two get here then."
"Alright," Irene replies. "We're like a block and a half away right now so you won't have to wait too long."
"Cool."

Once we say our parting words, I put away my phone and resume my pacing around the lobby. Knowing Theresa's usual walking pace, they'll probably get here in less than five minutes so I guess I'll take a seat-

Wait wait wait wait. If Theresa's concerns about the hotel cameras being messed with aren't just paranoia then wouldn't the fact that I came all the way down here only to turn right back around be suspicious in itself?

Craaaaaaaap... I'm probably just being paranoid but there's no way in hell I'm about to screw things up through sheer carelessness.

Acting perfectly normally and in no way suspicious, I walk over to the front desk and wait for someone to notice me.

"Good afternoon, Miss Navarre," a middle-aged clerk says, greeting me with a smile. "What can I do for you?"
"I, uh..."

Think, Cecile!

"...I was just wondering if you guys had a copy of today's paper?" I blurt out.
"Oh, that's all?" he laughs. "Here I was worried that there was an issue with Miss Gauthier's room or something."
"No, the room's as fine as ever," I reply with a nervous smile.
"That's good to know," he nods. "So it's just the paper, then?"
"Yup."

He then walks over to a shelf that's pretty much filled to the brim with newspapers.

"Which one did you want?" the man asks. "We've got pretty much every major newspaper in the state, as well as several national ones."
"Uh- that many?" I stare. "I, uh- the local news, I guess? For, like... current events and stuff."
"No problem!"

I'm handed the most pristine-looking newspaper that I have ever seen in my life. I don't know if it's just because I'm the owner's daughter's girlfriend and everyone here knows it or if that's just how they do things here but either way I'm impressed.

I thank the counter clerk and ask him to thank the chefs for all the delicious room service food that we order all the time. And just as I turn back around with my newly-acquired newspaper in two, my heart damned near STOPS. Because a certain costumed kite or whatever decided that it would be a smart move to wait RIGHT BEHIND ME WITHOUT SAYING A WORD JESUS CHRIST WHAT THE HELL.

It takes everything I have to keep from screaming.

After I regain my senses, I notice that she's holding hands with a very tall lady in a pulled-up hoodie that's way too tight. Great, now my heart's pounding for a different reason.

you disgust me

"Umm, sorry if I scared you," Theresa says, laughing nervously.
"......" I just roll my eyes and let out a long sigh.

And since I'm supposed to be pretending that they're not here with me, I stomp off towards the elevator without saying a word to either of them.

I'm lucky enough to have a car already waiting at this floor when I press the elevator button so the only wait on the way upstairs is the long ride itself. A long, awkward silent ride with one friend who's pretty much wearing a Halloween costume and another who's... I don't even know, it's like she's wearing a slightly less creepy version of what I was wearing yesterday that's made into something even creepier thanks to the fact that her massive boobs are being emphasized by the tight fabric of the hoodie she's wearing.

I wonder if she feels awkward at all wearing that thing. Or uncomfortable. Because like... wow.

But I'm not staring because that's just rude.

"Wow," Irene says as we step out of the elevator. "So it really is at the top floor."
"Yup, it's a penthouse suite," Theresa nods. "She -is- filthy stinking rich, after all."

While they continue to comment on the extravagance of the hallway, I continue on towards the door, pulling out my keycard as I go.

Sneak sneak sneak. Silently, I slide my keycard in and our of its slot, triggering a decidedly NOT silent buzz that means that the door's been unlocked. From there, I silently open the door and let my fellow silent invaders inside.

Creep creep creep. I tiptoe into the living room, silently keeping out of sight so as to facilitate my sneaky plan. And soon enough, it is put into motion.

Pat pat pat, I unleash a flurry of affectionate petting on Gabrielle's adorably fluffy head.

"What are you doing?" she asks in that adorable voice of hers.
"Umm, surprising you with headpats?" I reply, feigning innocence.
"You -do- know that I can see behind me, right?"

And so, my carefully-laid plan is foiled.

"And I guess they're still not here since you came back alone," Gabrielle says, still not bothering to turn around to face me.
"Did I?"

I glance back and signal for Theresa to make her presence known... and the second she does, I'm nearly knocked over by Gabrielle leaping to her feet.

"O- OSCAR!?" Gabrielle squeaks, spinning around to face her not-so-secret crush.
"Hm?" Charlotte peeks over the back of the couch. "What are you talking about, there's nobody there."

I guess Theresa still has her ability in effect, though I dunno why.

"Just like Gabrielle so loudly shouted, Oscar is right over there," I say, tilting my head in Theresa's general direction.
"Oh," Charlotte sighs. "I see."

As expected, Charlotte isn't all that enthusiastic about all this. Gabrielle, on the other hand, looks like she's about to faint.

"Aren't you going to say hi," I ask her. "I'm sure you don't want him to think that you're -rude-..."
"HELLO GOOD AFTERNOON OSCAR THANK YOU FOR OFFERING TO HELP US AGAIN," Gabrielle blurts out as if she'd been practicing that line over and over in her head.
"Umm, hey," Theresa waves back with her free hand. "Nice seeing you again."
"NO THE PLEASURE IS ALL MINE!"

An awkward silence fills the room while I try my best not to laugh since it's just cruel to do so. But eventually, Gabrielle's gaze shifts from "Oscar" to the busty hoodie-clad woman who "he" happens to he holding hands with...

"Th... that's Irene in the hoodie, right?" Gabrielle asks.
"Umm, yeah," Irene nods as she lowers her hood with her free hand. "Sorry about the weird outfit, 'Oscar' here thought that it'd be best if I hid myself while we might be caught on camera."

Gabrielle breathes a long sigh of relief upon hearing that.

Sorry, folks. Although this isn't even close to where I wanted to leave this thread off on and I've only written like half of what I usually manage, I'm really freaking sleepy for some reason so I'm going to have to call it a night here.

Thanks for running. I think it's the first time I stayed from start to finish.

Does Mr. G let the hotel run its own security/cameras or does he micromanage it with his own dudes? Can be relevant for how hard it'd be for Faceless (and friends(?)) to hijack it.

Also, what are the names of Cecile's mom and pops? Have they even been mentioned?

>Does Mr. G let the hotel run its own security/cameras or does he micromanage it with his own dudes? Can be relevant for how hard it'd be for Faceless (and friends(?)) to hijack it.
The hotel's pretty much run the same as it was before Gauthier bought it, with the old security team and cameras and all that. He never really saw any reason to change it, though he or Charlotte could override whatever whenever they want since OWNER OF ESTABLISHMENT and all.

>>47315108
>Do you frequently dream? I mean, sleep-dreaming, not day-dreaming.
I daydream all the time.
Sleepdreaming is also frequent, usually it's about stuff that I wish would happen in real life.

>>47315118
>Does Faceless not use... Facebook? (badum-tshh)
Even in his secret identity, he isn't on any type of social media since that shit's dangerous for someone like him.

>Also, what are the names of Cecile's mom and pops? Have they even been mentioned?
Her mother's name is Jeanette and her father's name is Gordon.
This was mentioned in previous threads.

I'm not sure the word "poly count" even applies to this quest, either in Archelon's AU, or Canon
