Your name is Amy Nakamura, a 17 year old void Oni, and you’re in a bit of a mess. You, your cousin and Trish are about 150 yards away from a faerie who’s doing SOMETHING ominous at a house close to Trish’s. Your Oni blood is boiling at the chance to fight fae again, not that you’d admit that out loud to anyone…

Anyway, you have to do something! Who knows what that pixie jackass is doing over there.

“Hmm, we out number him, but I’m not sure pissing him off is a good idea.” Trish says at your left. Yuki’s ears are working overtime as she stands on your right, twitching all over the place.

>I say we get him, damn the consequences!

>Yuki? What’s up?

>Yeah you’re probably right Trish (Internal REEEE)

That's just growing pains, you'll get better.

You glance at your cousin’s twitching fox ears and her face, which is currently screwed up in concentration.

“Yuki, what’s up? You hearing something?” You ask her.

“I’m not entirely sure. I can FEEL what he’s doing, but I’m not sure WHAT it is.”

“Do you hear or sense anymore?” Trish asks her after a brief pause.

“No, I’m pretty sure he’s the only one.”

“This doesn’t solve our ‘what do we do about the fucking pixie’ problem that we have.” You tell the two of them.

“I’m having some problems figuring out what we should do.” Trish replies. “You aren’t exactly making it easy for me.”

“I’m not sure why we care, like, he hasn’t done anything to us.” Yuki says.

“Amy got mixed up with a few of them a while back. She’s getting jumpy.” Trish tells her as you snort at her characterization of you.

>Isn’t him being a Fae enough justification for me to hit him a few times?

“Well I could try using the void again… Maybe it’ll help us?” You tell them.

“It doesn’t always work? Yuki asks.

“It’s hard to explain, let’s say it’s just finicky.”

“She means she has no idea what she’s doing.” Trish tells her as your cousin giggles prettily.

Bah, what does Trish know?

You take a deep breath and enter the void again, and this time, you see EVERYTHING. Well, everything on the street at any rate. You can even see the kami, no… Spirits, of everything on the street. The fae’s magic is actually interacting with some of them in that house. One particularly powerful one in fact. It’s pretty angry, you can feel the rage and power coming off of it in waves.

But… It’s being suppressed, no not suppressed, released.

Oh, you can see it now. The spirit was once alive, it was a person… The Fae is letting her go, actually, more like making her move on.

How the hell can he do that?

You open your eyes to the expectant gazes of your tiny posse.

>What Say?

The fae is releasing some major big and bad spirit in that house. I say we whoop it's ass and hopefully we dont have to try and go ghostbuster on the spirit.

You make your face as blank as possible before you start to speak in a booming (relatively quiet) voice.

“THERE IS NO MORE AMY, THERE IS ONLY ZUUL!” You say, right before you feel tiny fists slam into your side.

“Read the damn mood, idiot. Be serious.” Trish tells you as she continues to hit you ineffectually. You snort and then return to your previous sober demeanor.

“Sorry, anyway, he’s messing with the Spirits around here.”

“Wait like ghosts? I would’ve felt any ghosts around here.” Yuki says

“Well, no, more like kami but not. It’s weird.”

“So spirit in the Native American sense?” Trish ventures.

“Yeah, that works, those kinds of spirits. Well those, and a seriously pissed off ghost. Well what I think is a ghost.” You tell them.

“That doesn’t make sense, I would’ve like, heard it.” Yuki says, her face drooping into a slight pout.

“I dunno what to tell you Yuki, it’s what I saw.” You say as your Lord and your cousin start pondering what you just told them.

>I’m going to go ask him what he’s doing, seems to be the easiest way.

“I’m just going to go talk to him. I’m tired of pussy-footing around.” You declare as you start to walk.

“Do you really think that that’s a good idea?” Yuki asks as she looks frantically between you and Trish.

“No, but it’s the only idea her muscle addled brain can come up with.” Trish says, then she softens her gaze for a second and adds: “be careful, alright? You’re the only Oni samurai I have.” You can’t help but chuckle at her serious demeanor.

“It’s me we’re talking about here.”

“That’s what I’m worried about…” You make your way down the street to the Faerie, not bothering to conceal your presence. Without Yuki’s Glamour up it’s a lot easier to see in the dim light, a bit of a blessing if you’re being honest. You read somewhere that Oni have good low-light vision, but you don’t seem to. Maybe it’s only in certain kinds of Oni? Anyway, you can see the Faerie better now and… Wow, he’s super handsome. Not even in that twinky vein the other Fae were, just pure all American looking hunk. Silver hair accentuates his chiseled face, and light stubble covers his cheeks and chin.

Wait, no, bad Amy. Pull yourself together. How’re you going to broach this….

“HEY! WHATCHA DOING YOU PIXIE SHITLORD?!” You yell when you get about 40 feet away. The fae for his part just kind of glances back at you before resuming his, whatever he’s doing.

Rude

“I was talking to you, what are you doing over here?” You ask again when you get a bit closer. He just ignores you again before…

*FLASH*

A wave of light washes over you and everything stops. Then it recedes and you don’t feel his magic anymore. You quickly glance around to check your surroundings, and then you see the fae. Sitting on the ground, looking incredibly winded. He’s even panting a little.

“Well, you gonna answer me cunt waffle? The hell were you doing?” You ask the apparently exhausted fae, as you pointedly ignore him taking off his jacket and shirt. Y-you are NOT looking at his filthy faerie abs either, no sir.

“I felt that spirit writhing in agony, I couldn’t ignore it. So I led it to rest.” He pauses a second to take another deep breath. “It was, very very angry. So much pain, so much misery. I could feel her miles away.”

“But why did you, y’know help her.” You ask him, honestly puzzled. You’d never have expected a fae to just… HELP someone for nothing. He stays quiet for a bit longer, then looks up at you and meets your gaze. His eyes are a smooth amethyst color.

“So cynical, for one so young… Is it not our duty as part of this world to help those who cannot help themselves? Is it not what we do as loving beings?” Wow, he sounds like a priest.

“So that’s it? The spirit is at rest now?”

“Aye, I helped her move on. I bit forcefully true, but, she was going to kill someone eventually, they always do. Human spirits are such delicate things, without their body they’re subjected to the full forces of passion.”

“What does that even mean?” You ask, he just smiles in response.

“Their body allows them to temper their feelings, when a spirit is loose it is typically stuck in the way it was lost.”

Spirit magic would probably be useful to learn. Might mess with any Fae trickery as well.
>>
>>47467383
Magic isn't cross-compatible, IIRC. How he did that means nothing to us because fae and oni do magic in entirely different and incompatible ways.
>>
>>47467387
You're missing the point, it's not about learning his magic, It's about understanding how he did it.

Very few things can interact with spirits/souls
>>
>>47467260
I think we should leave. The answer to the first one is magic, and I doubt we can learn it, or we can always ask Trish about it later.

Second one isn't too important. At this point I just assume every magical being knows more than us.
>>
>>47467406
Eh. I don't really care to bother and learn it, since I can't see interacting with spirits that directly being necessary all too often, and I don't really want to interact with the fae anymore.
>>
>>47467433
Bet if he didn't have a dick you'd be fine with it.
>>
>>47467437
No, but way to immediately identify yourself as an idiot.
>>
>>47467450
There's just a pattern repeating here, people don't want to spend time with any male characters.
>>
>>47467433
Good for you. I doubt Amy might be that interested, but Trish? We should at least tell her about it, could be useful for her to learn.
>>
>>47467466
Maybe it's because the male characters are consistently introduced poorly and interrupt more interesting things. Like cute Slice-of-Life bullshit with our cousin and Trish that's been on hold for weeks.
>>
>>47467466
Two isn't much of a pattern
>>
>>47467469
She's barely got the basics down. Leave the soul-fuckery to higher tiers of advancement.
>>
“How does a faerie even know this much about human souls? Isn’t your whole deal that you don’t have any?” He actually grins at you and laughs as you say that.

“That’s a bit simple actually, Humans are a spirit with a body. Fae are a body with a spirit. But you’d know about that wouldn’t you? You’re not human.” He laughs again at the face you make at him. “Don’t fret I don’t really care either way. I can tell you’re a good sort.” At that he gets up and puts his clothes back on. “Name’s Lou, nice to meet ya’ miss?”

“Amy.”

“Amy then, nice to meet you, I hope you have a pleasant evening.” And with that, he vanishes into a light fog that slowly drifts away.
That was weird as hell.
You walk back to your cousin and lord who have also dropped their glamour. You can almost feel the tension radiating off of them.

“Well? What was he doing here?” Trish asks you expectantly.

>What say?

In the end I just decided to end the conversation there to appease both parties, don't worry about the name either. He can't do anything with your given name, and non one is going to use it to find anything out. I could explain more but that's spoilers.
>>
>>47467515

>>47467544

It's nice to know you're as much of a presumptive jackass as the fae was.
>>
>>47467638
Could you explain to me how he was presumptive? Because I wasn't trying to convey that at all.

Also writing.
>>
>>47467676
Not him, but that whole second line of the last update was some of the most obnoxious dialogue I've read from an NPC and a lot of it could be taken as presumption, particularly the morality bit
>>
>>47467710
How was it obnoxious... He was explaining how Fae and humans are different. It wasn't some haughty or elaborate showboating...

And as far the morality bit, Fae can't lie, he meant that.
>>
>>47467737
How was it obnoxious? Did you read it? And lying wouldn't really change that it's presumptive to make that kind of snap judgment on whether someone is good or bad.
>>
>>47467754
....Dude I wrote it. Are you telling the author how he meant to write something? Ah fuck it.

Who said it was a snap judgement, you're dealing with a Fae who mess with souls. He can probably see yours.
>>
>>47467754
He was just saying that we seem like a nice person, which might be a bit off since we did nothing but insult him and swear.

Not really obnoxious, just kind of odd. He's Fae though, they're always odd.
>>
>>47467754
To be fair, any Oni that opens the conversation with "what the fuck are you doing" rather than punching you in the face can generally be safely assumed to be alright.
>>
>>47467772
I'm saying how you meant to write it =/= how it read.
>>
>>47467780
>But you’d know about that wouldn’t you? You’re not human.” He laughs again at the face you make at him.
This part kind of pisses me off. Tremendously. Like "would vote to hit him about the head and face if the conversation hadn't ended" levels.

Not that anon.
>>
>>47467791

This.
>>
>>47467792
Man that's a problem, ugh, I hate it when shit like that happens. I'll just have to try and make it more clear in the future. I appreciate the feedback though.

>>47467796
He's just revealing that he knows you aren't Human, wasn't an insult, and the laughing was at the suprised face Amy makes at him.

Which yeah, is actually kinda dickish. But hey, fae amiright?
>>
>>47467796
I suppose it depends if it was laughing maniacally or just a sensible chuckle. Either way, it's not too out there to think he could tell. He can see ghosts, and we were able to tell he was fae from down the street.

What I think is obnoxious is spending all this time discussing exactly how obnoxious a Fae was. He's a Fae. They're never not going to be obnoxious, and this one was downright friendly compared to those we've met.
>>
>>47467841
I honestly dislike him more for being friendly. I wanted to fight something, dammit.

“He was helping, well making I guess really, a spirit rest.”

“He was exorcising it?” Trish surmises.

“I guess? It was weird, he was being kind of an ass. All vague and shit.” Trish snorts as you say that.

“He’s a Fae that’s their job description. I’m not entirely sure they can help being jackasses, if what Christin tells me true.”

“Was that it then? He was just, like, getting rid of a ghost? That doesn’t sound like any sort of fae thing I’ve ever heard of.” Yuki asks.

“I dunno Yuki, he was vague, had a bit about morality in there too. About how we’re supposed to help people and things in need.”

“That’s not self-rightous at all, preaching like that.” Trish grumbles, you nod in agreement, there’s no way he could say that and be self-aware.

“Neat!” Yuki says as she starts to stroll down the street back to Trish’s house. You swear if you didn’t still hate her that would’ve been adorable. The three of you make your way back to the house where you promptly heat up the dinner you made. “So uh, Trish, where’re your parents again?” You ask her in between mouthfuls of your food. She chews pointedly for a few minutes before swallowing.

“They went to some sort of conference for my dad’s work. Some sort of weekend deal, I could’ve gone with but I decided not to. I guess I’m glad I didn’t.” She mumbles out a few seconds after the first part.

That was cute, but now starts the dangerous part.

“Say Trish, you wouldn’t happen to have stuff for like, a slumber party would you?” You ask tentatively. Trish immediately stops what she’s doing and gives you the most withering stare you’ve ever gotten. It manages to combine disbelief, exasperation and annoyance all into one. If you could put the look to words it would be.

“Really Nigga?”

Tonight looks like it’s going to be fun?

And that's it, thanks to everyone who came out and participated. I really appreciate it.

The archive and my twitter are in the second post. I hope everyone has a great night/morning.

Next thread will probably be tomorrow barring any random bullshit.
