Shinobi Quest #7

This quest takes place within the lands of the Five Great Shinobi Nations (aka Narutoverse) starting roughly around the beginning of the original series. The world of this quest remains similar to the original, with slight but notable differences in certain areas, based upon the passage of time from a single slightly altered event.

(It’s a goddamn Naruto Quest, you bastards. Have fun, participate, and write in when you feel inclined. Most of the outcomes of this quest will be determined by you, the players. Critiques and questions are always welcome, as my knowledge of the weeby shit is not all encompassing.)

Last thread, Tsuki Norihime, Hinata Hyuuga, Nori Uzumaki and Ebisu Hiruko set out for their first official mission as Team 7, under Ebisu’s leadership. The group headed to the village of Katabami, in the Land of Rivers, escorting a tax official, Yoku, who was employed by the Daimyo of the Land of Fire. Although none of the young shinobi were particularly happy about the implications of the mission, they were somewhat relieved not to be chasing cats.

After arriving in Katabami, Yoku and Team 7 went to the local inn to rest up for the night, while Tsuki decided to stay alert. Her decision soon paid off, as she was able to catch a local man attempting to dispose of Yoku. After distracting him with a pose and some flashy words, the man was subdued. Ebisu and Nori were able to interrogate the man, and learned that the Village elder’s son had a plot to stop Yoku and “Save the Village”, but had disappeared, causing the young man to act when he saw the group alive.

We rejoin Team 7 the next morning, overseeing the payment, when a sudden storm had rolled in, despite the clear skies mere moments before…..
>>
“Sensei, it’s raining.” you hear HInata’s voice, coming from above. She had been stationed on the roof to keep watch with her Byakugan.

“Strange, it was clear just a moment ago. But rain itself isn’t much to worry about.” Ebisu responds to her.

You take a moment to look outside- sure enough, it’s started to rain.

While Yoku and the Village Elder are doing business, the sound of the rain falling on the roof mutes their conversation, ever so slightly. You aren’t really paying attention to it, anyway. You’ve been on guard ever since the attempt of Yoku’s life.

Eventually, Hinata’s voice rings out again. “Sensei. Something’s coming. A mist is filling in the south end of the valley….” she pauses. “I can’t see through it with my Byakugan.” she finally states after a few more moments.

Isn’t the Byakugan supposed to unblockable? It couldn’t possibly be natural….

“....Mist, you said?” Ebisu’s voice has hardened.

“Yes, sensei. The rain seems to be coming down harder now, as well….” Hinata reports, quietly.

“Girls, stay inside. Keep watch over Yoku and the Elder.” he orders, exhaling. “It may be nothing, but I fear the Elder’s son may have found that rogue ninja he was looking for.”

Ebisu rises, checks his gear, then walks outside, into the rain.

You…

1. Listen to your sensei. Stay here, stay on guard.
2. Follow him.
3. Have one of your teammates follow him.

You decide to listen to Ebisu-sensei. You’re sure he can handle whatever’s out there. Besides, you have your own job to do. Checking your inventory, you know that you still have plenty of paper bombs, explosive tags, wire, and kunai. Good.

You walk to into the Elder’s room, and speak to both him and Yoku. “There’s something going on outside. Our sensei has gone to check it out. No need to worry right now.”

Yoku frowns, and turns to the elder. “Another trick? After I had just committed to trying to get his lordship to forgive your son’s transgressions!?” He seems to have gotten a bit of his bite back, after the morning’s attempt on his life.

The old man grovels. “N-no! I swear! I didn’t know anything about any plans. I was only told of him leaving this morning!”

As they continue to go back and forth, you hear Hinata again. “Tsuki-hime, Nori, the storm has kicked up even worse- I’m sure I just saw a bolt of lightn-”

*FWOOM*

A peal of thunder roars, and the building shakes, just a little.

“Hinata, where’s sensei?” Nori barks, seeming impatient.

“He’s in the village square- the mist is really thickening, it’s getting tough to see him. There are… others, too. I cannot really make them out. Nine, in total?”

Whomever it is has friends, then.

You…

Solar release WAS one of the options. Actually... that does make me think, lightning and fire have light in common, with the right experimenting could we figure out a way to focus on that aspect? Never being without flashbangs would be cool.
>>
>>47512511
Can't we just buy flashbangs? Unless you've got some way to replicate other mission equipment like kunai, we'll still have a limited amount of mission readiness.
>>
You and Nori take a few moments to rig a few rudimentary traps outside the house- burying kunai blade up in the now damp ground, tying explosive tags to tripwire between a few of the trees, and so-on. Most of them are setup outside to slow down or stall attackers, since you don’t have much to work with. As the two of you work, you hear Hinata yell from the roof once more.

“They’re coming this way! Not all of them, but about six of them!

They’re coming. You were going to send a shadow clone to help sensei, but it seems like you may not have time….

You and Team 7….

1. Assume a defensive formation, with you and Hinata in back, with Nori in front.
2. Assume an aggressive stance, with Hinata and Nori up front, backed up by a shadow clone.
3. Go all or nothing, with everyone up front.
4. Fall back and let them fall into your traps!

“Fall back!, Take up a defensive position by the door!” you shout, acting immediately.

You hear the crash of thunder again, as loud as before.

Hinata jumps down from the roof, and you and Nori run back to meet her by the door. As you do, you hear a man yell in pain as he steps into the kunai trap you and Nori had buried.

As you get into position, the telltale explosion of your tags goes off, no doubt triggered by the tripwire. Nori stands in front, with you and Hinata in the rear.

Suddenly, four men appear- two were either taken out or momentarily disabled by your traps.

You steel yourself- this is a fight for your life. It certainly won’t be your last.

You…

1. Make a shadow clone to even the odds.
2. Use your shortbow as they approach

Quickly, you execute the Shadow Clone Technique. That should help even the odds a little…

As the second Tsuki appears, you quickly hand her the bow and your quiver. She nods, and you produce your fan. As you turn back to the battle you hear Nori roar.

“Come and get me, cowards! Scared of a little girl?” she eggs them on.

She knows her part very well, at least. You and Hinata space yourselves out, both of you ready. Quickly, the men rush Nori, who begins fighting them off. Although there’s four of them, she’s faster, and know you have her back. You hear the *thwip* of your shortbow soon after- right as Nori feints to the right, an arrow lodges itself in the shoulder of the man who just missed Nori. Immediately, you follow up, throwing your fan in an arc that catches the man in the throat.
Hinata has been peppering the others with kunai, although not really doing more than keeping them at bay. Shortly though, Nori is back in view, and smashes the closest man under the jaw with a wicked uppercut. You knew how strong those strikes were- he’s probably out.

With two of them down, you begin to encircle the men, when one rushes at Hinata. In an instant her Byakugan activate, and she catches the man’s arm, launches him overhead, and buries a few kunai in his gut. You turn back to see a man running at you! ….Only for a bright point of light to emerge from the front of his throat. As he clutches his throat, you see Nori yank backwards- the bright chain seems to be wrapped around one of her arms- is it made of chakra?

“Get over here, you ass. It’s rude to run from a lady who isn’t finished with you yet, ya know?” she says through gritted teeth. You hear rustling behind you- but it’s quickly followed by another *thwip* from your clone releasing another shot.
>>
That went well, although they definitely aren’t shinobi. Maybe just some thugs…?

As Nori begins to finish off her prey, you walk over to Hinata. The man she countered before seems to be scooting back from her, trying to escape- the wet mud impeding his flight.

“S-stay back! Brother Riaga will bury you all! The Kurosuki Family will free this town from tyranny!”

The fight seems over for the moment. You…

2. You need to find Sensei.

“Hinata, bind up the survivor- Nori, question him. You’re good at that, right? I’m gonna go check on the client.” you say, ordering you squad quickly.

“Heh, yeah princess. Uncle Jiraiya taught me how to deal with men like these.” She says through a smile…..

You suppress a shudder.

As the two of them head towards the now crying man, you head inside the residence. Both Yoku and the Elder are where you left them, although they both look concerned.
“Everything’s fine. Enemy has been dealt with. We’re checking on our teacher and taking a prisoner as we speak.” you reassure them. The Elder and Yoku both nod gravely, and don’t seem inclined to say much.

You take a moment to do a lap around the building, and verify the corpses. 5 bodies, and with Nori’s new friend, that would make six, as Hinata said. Besides the hooded robes they wear, they don’t seem to have any sign of identification, and as such are definitely not shinobi.

You walk back over to the front of the building, where Nori and Hinata are. You can tell Hinata is trying to look into the distance, but her frown tells you she doesn’t seem to be having much luck. Nori turns to you and reports. “Before he passed out, he said they are the Kurosuki Family, a group that has enlisted men from the surrounding area to “free” villages from the oppression of the Daimyo. He said they‘re led by a man named Raiga- and that he’s a powerful ninja.

Right as Nori says that, you feel the chakra from your clone return- and it’s memories flood into you...

You’re standing near Ebisu-sensei… the rain seems more dense, here. A man stand apart from you- wearing a similar cloak as the men you just dispatched. Two men in this same outfit are splayed out on the ground- Ebisu’s work.

The man seems to have a weird hunch on his back- or he’s carrying a backpack. He speaks.
“Oh, my brothers! This Leaf Shinobi has felled you! I shall hold a funeral for you both when he is dead- how I will miss you….” He begins to cry.

“Why do such good men have to die? It pains me so… I will celebrate my memories of them soon.” He looks up and laughs. “And you mean to bring a young girl into battle against the Kurosuki Family? How the mighty Leaf has fallen!”

This man must be Raiga.

Ebisu-sensei speaks. “Those blades you carry… I wouldn’t forget them. Are you one of the Seven Swordman of the Mist?”

You look to his hips- two very unique looking blades hang at his hips.

“Huh, do I know you, Four-eyes?” Raiga squints, looking at the two of you. “Oh-ho! Now I remember! It’s been so long! Almost 14 years… since the war. When that strange old man nearly killed us all…”

“How nostalgic! I will give you the greatest of funerals, Four-eyes! Making remember my comrades…..”

Thunder crashes once again. You’re back with Nori and Hinata. Your clone must have expired at this point.

You…

We have a rare opportunity we know whom our foe is and were able to figure out he must use lightning techniques, so if anyone knows wind release now is the time. Otherwise we also now have the opportunity to plan a counter.

I suggest we ourselves draw his focus to pin point his position, nori chain locks him and Hinata puts an arrow into him using the glow of the chains if she can't quite make him out. Once he has some arrows in him, disarm him and get whatever is on his back away from him.

Remain calm…. Easier said then done.

“Ladies” you say, getting Nori and Hinata’s attention. “Our Sensei is currently fighting Raiga- one of the Seven Swordman of the Mist. We’re going to need to back him up- it seems like he took out the remainder of the thugs though- I didn’t see any more.”

Hinata and Nori look worried, although Nori does fire off a question. “You’ve been using Shadow Clones this whole time, right? That’s how you know this?”

“Yes, although I really don’t have time to explain the why or how right now.” you fire back.
“This storm is most likely of his making- do either of you know any wind-aligned techniques?”

Hinata shakes her head, and Nori just looks down into the mud.
“My chakra nature is wind, like my brother’s- but I haven’t taken the time to learn any wind-aligned skills. Sorry.” she says, probably the first time you’ve actually heard genuine regret in her voice.

“We won’t worry about it for now, then. We need to come up with a plan.” you respond.

You….

shadow clones have the equivalent 1 hp iirc, they die to pretty much anything so I doubt that the bolts would be a one-shot for our squad, a grievous wound for sure though, thats why we should send a clone with them.
>>
>>47514643

Those are regular clones.

Shadow clones can take more damage.
>>
>>47514620
Not if we can't actually use lightning release, maybe we could pull it out of our ass, but that stuff usually takes months of training.

>>47514643
>>47514661
Shadow clones can be pretty durable, don't forget that ninja don't pul their punches, what looks like a light tap is much stronger han you think. We've see shadow clones bleed, get organ damage, and in one case disintegrate painfully without popping. Though with the level of chakra in ours I don't expect it to be very durable.
>>
>>47514661
Ah, still probably less than the actual person though? either way sending a disposable unit along with our best close quarters fighters make sense.
>>
Fun idea: tie some of our presumably metal trip wire to an arrow, have a shadow clone or Hinata engage with Raiga and surreptitiously attach the free end to him, fire the arrow straight up to attract lightning, Ohohohoho~ as he electrocutes himself.

You guys have bad memories, it was still very tactical up until the ten-tails. Like Sasuke's fight against Deidara, Jiraiya's fight against Pein, Konoha vs Pein, Sasuke vs Danzo, etc...
Somewhere between Pein flattenning Konoha and Obito becoming the ten tails jinchurikki the powerlevels got so high tricks were pointless, but up until then there were a lot of great fights.

Not that Anon.

Boruto Quest is basically a Naruto quest set after Shippuden and has the MC be an average ninja trying to prove himself in a world full of prodigies.

“Alright, here’s what we’re gonna do. You two are leagues better in close quarters than I am, and I feeling that will be necessary. I’ll send another Shadow Clone with you, and will stay here to protect the client.

Both Hinata and Nori nod, and you again work on making a Shadow Clone- although you’re beginning to feel a little winded. Once it’s formed, you have the clone Tsuki your bow and arrow, so it has something more concrete to attack with, along with some of your supplies.

Once it’s equipped, the three girls immediately set off to where Raiga and Ebisu sensei had been before, with your clone guiding them.

They’re out of sight within a few moments, so you take a minute to reset some of the traps along the path to the house- to give you an early warning if anything else happens to come with way. Eventually you reach Nori’s victim, and drag him inside. You set him up in a corner of the house, away from anyone else.

Then, you wait. You focus primarily on trying to keep the clone active- keeping it active and far away means that it’s going to burn through chakra very quickly. Worrying about your sensei and your teammates isn’t helping, either.

Time continues to pass, with thunder crashing all the while.

You begin to break out in a sweat- you really aren’t sure how much longer you’re going to be able to hold the jutsu…..

We're not talking d20 versus d100 here. We're talking considering *FIVE* rolls, which is a bit too much room for crits to happen either way. It's almost twice the norm.

>Although this wasn't a hard pass/fail, more of a consistent average
Uh oh, at the every least we'll survive that one, i don't know about everyone else though.

>>47515328
Best case 30, worst case 5 snapshots ending in a one. I'm glad we sent the clone out instead of our body.

>>
One the bright side we are getting tons of shadow clone practice down.
>>
Nori will prolly just go apeshit
>>
>>47515541
Just thought about it, I bet the clones popping so easily is so their caster doesn't have to deal with the memory of slowly dying from a kunai to the gut or what have you.
>>
>>47515601
I think it's just how much chakra they take, like keeping awake and mobile with a fatal wound uses a lot of chakra, chakra that you could instead get back and recycle into more healthy clones. If it's really important that that clone in particular lives you can do it, but it's usually better to just pop it and make a new one.
>>
By the way folks ive been think about our release, why dont we call it "Esper Release" because god damn is anything says spooky it's ghostly blue flames and fitng the sneaky shadow route we're talking. Got tons of technique ideas if we go this way too.

Neon release? Flashy, fashionable, smells nice, horribly poisonous and searingly hot. I like it. Don't forget that plasma produces invisible deadly poison gas!

>>47515875
It's a fighting style that revolves around hitting invisible microscopic points on an angry ninja. It also requires the ability to shoot chakra spikes out of your skin, which we don't have. It's also a highly guarded secret technique of a major clan.
>>
>>47515875
wasn't the basis of their style was fucking up peoples chakra points with pinpoint strikes, and you can only see the chakra points with magic eyes, it's basically a fist of the north star knock-off iirc

Plasma isn't really firey enough. You can make plasma with lightning release. kekkai genkei are supposed to be totally different from their two base elements. Ice is nothing like water or wind, wood isn't earth or water, etc...

This thing is something related to fire and lightning, but not actually something you can emulate with either one. I think it would be far more interesting as a new thing. Imagine a fire that can instantly travel through metal, electrocute people, burn flammable objects, etc... We could set an entire city on fire through one telephone pole. And if anyone tries to put it out with water it spreads through the water, and if anyone tries to blow it out with wind it just burns hotter.

That's way cooler than plasma.

...and then you feel the clone fade.

It had almost nothing left.

The memories overtake you…..

The three of you are standing by Ebisu-sensei- and he looks a little worse for ware. His outfit is frayed in places, and you can tell that fight may not have been going his way before you arrived. His glasses are gone- you don’t see them anywhere.

“Oh, four-eyes. Now your little gaggle of girls has return to defend their master. It’s a little ironic, isn’t it? Fourteen years ago, that old man died to save you, and now you’re going to die here to protect them! Wonderful! I’m so glad I was able to witness this a second time!” Raiga says, tears streaming down his face.

“I’m going to give you all a huge funeral! For the four-eyed chicken and his little hatchlings! Hahahahaha!”

This man is insane, clearly. You wonder what made him this way- maybe he always was? You have heard rather nasty rumors about the Village of the Mist….

He takes off his cloak- seems like the hump you noticed before was a backpack. He brandishes his blades- wicked and segmented, with sprouting edges.

“It’s time to start your funeral, four-eyes. I’ll even keep the girls alive to watch.”

He raises his swords, crossing them. As if on command, lightning strikes them from above.

“Ninja Art: Lightning Strike Armor!”

Electricity surrounds him, crackling loudly. You guess it will fry whomever hits him- not pleasant.

Raiga, however, isn’t finished.

(Sorry, lots of long form here.)
>>
“Ninja Art: Fangs of Lightning!” he roars over the sound of the storm. Electricity pours out of the swords, back towards the clouds above.

“Girls, move! It’ll be coming from above!” Ebisu warns, as he begins to take evasive action. Following his lead, the three of you scatter- and not a moment too soon. Your ears ring as a white bolt of lightning strikes where you were mere moments before.

As your vision clears, you look over to Ebisu-sensei, who seems to have made several clones of himself. Meanwhile, both Nori and Hinata are running the opposite direction as Ebisu, trying to get an advantageous position. You wonder.. How much force does it take to pop that shield?

Raiga seems more preoccupied with Ebisu, anyway.

“Clones won’t help you, four-eyes! Ninja Art: Lightning Burial!” he yells, crossing his blades above his head one more. Lightning strikes again, this time spreading out from his position in wide, erratic arcs. It pops several of Ebisu-sensei’s clones, although Ebisu himself is able to dodge just to the side of one. You see him breath in- he’s about to use a jutsu. Better no than never!

Quickly run towards Raiga, and nock an arrow in your bow as you do. He turns to you just as you fire it- and laughs as the arrow burns up against his lightning shield. “Sorry girl! It’s going to take more than”-
“Fire Dragon Bullet!” you Ebisu say as the distracted man is bathed in flame. Between the rain, the fire of the technique, and Raiga’s lightning shield, a minor cloud of steam forms around the man.

Bright flashes of light come from his immediate left shortly afterward; a sight you recognize. Two shining chains of chakra, extending from Nori’s arms to the cloud of smoke. “Hinata! Get him! I’m not sure how long I can hold him!” Nori yells as the wispy cloud is blown away by the storm.

“Right!” You see Hinata surge towards the man, now bound with Nori’s chains. “Gentle Fist! Eight Trigrams: 32 Palms!”

You can’t make out much from your position, although Hinata seems to be unleashing a flurry of blows. As they all connect- she jumps back to a safe distance. “There, he shouldn’t be able to use chakra based attacks a for while!”

Riaga laughs again. “You think I’m just limited to using my own chakra?” His grip on the swords in his hands tighten. “Lightning! I call to you!” he yells- and as if on command, lightning strikes the man, who is seemingly unprotected.

“Ninja Art: Lightning Dragon Tornado!”

Raiga begins to spin, forming a great rising typhoon. Nori, whose chains are still attached, is thrown into a nearby cliffside. The twister takes the form of a great dragon, and you hear Riaga’s voice from inside. “I lied, Four-eyes! Your little hatchlings are too annoying! I’ll have you attend their funerals instead!”

The great twisting form lurches forward, towards Hinata. There’s a blur- you see Hinata catapulted away from the attack as Ebisu pushes her out of the way- and takes the entire attack himself.

For our release - considering >>47516277, we could go with Inferno or Combustion release, or even Conflagration, if we wanted. Blue fire, if it's not burning something that makes it blue, is hotter than regular flame. I don't know if that would limit us to fire style techniques, but I'm sure Wargle's got some stuff up his sleeve.

We could go with Comet Release, to keep up the Moon Princess thing. Because comets burning blue always seems to be a thing in media. I just don't think Plasma quite fits.

“....Eh? Four-eyes? Decided it’s time to fulfill the destiny that began fourteen years ago?”

As the smoke clears, you can see it- Ebisu is holding man tightly- but both of Raiga’s blades are through his stomach. His glasses are off.

“Maybe. But you aren’t going to hurt them any longer.” Ebisu says, not breaking eye contact with the man.”

“Eugh, this some kind of genjutsu…? I… can’t see! What is this! Let me go, four-eyes!”

“Tsuki, please get Nori. She’s tough, though she’s probably injured. I can hold him here, just-”

“I SAID LET ME GO, FOUR EYES! I’LL FRY YOU HERE AND NOW!” Riaga roars- you can tell he’s about to break out of the Genjutsu.

“That’s a clone, right Tsuki?” Ebisu asks, his voice faint.

“Yes, sensei.” you respond.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t teach you all for longer. Tell Guy I avenged his father…. Please.”

You see Hinata first, flung clear of the blast radius by sensei before. She’s pretty roughed up- but it doesn’t take much to wake her.

“Hinata. I need you to find Nori.”

“Nori, sure. But what happened?” she responds, quickly picking herself up.

“Later, Hinata. Find Nori.”

You see her Byakugan focus---

“She crashed into the cliffside, above that grove of trees. On the other side of that…

...huge crater.”

Wasting no time, you run to the location Hinata indicated. You find Nori, unconscious, but breathing. You hoist her up- it takes some doing, but you have energy to spare all of the sudden.

You bring her back to where Hinata is, and lay her out.

Hinata proceeds to look her over-
“She’s pretty beat up- but she seems to have some sort of natural healing going on, with that strange chakra of hers. She’ll be ok if we let her rest, more than likely.”

You barely hear her. Getting up, you walk over towards the crater.

First, you see his glasses- scuffed and chipped from the fall, but not broken. You gingerly pick them up, and pocket them.

In the crater itself, you see two things that stick out- a charred Leaf Headband plate, and Raiga’s swords, lying not too far off in the distance.

You pick up his headplate. Wet drops begin to fall on the metal- tears? Are these your tears?

You…

Honestly in my opinion we sold just ditch the tax and take the taxman back. We're PROBABLY past the hired ninjas... but I don't really want to risk it with just three genin. And you know, the tax is HIS job, our job is to protect him. In this case protecting him might include "fuck the tax"

You take a deep breath. Not now. The mission isn’t over.
You tuck Sensei’s headplate into your uniform. You walk over to the swords, lying on the ground, dirty, but completely unburnt or melted by his final attack.

You don’t see Raiga anywhere- and you don’t believe he’d leave these behind. These are weapons of the Seven Swordman of the Mist- passed down since near the beginning of that village’s formation.

Inscribed into the hilt of both swords, you see the name- Kiba. “Fangs”.

You feel like…

1. Keeping them. Would be foolish to get rid of such powerful weapons.
2. Destroying them. You aren’t sure how, but you’ll find a way.
3. Selling them. They have to be worth a lot to the right people.
4. Giving them to the village. The Fourth will probably know what to do with them.

It makes sense to keep them, both as potential weapons and sentimental reasons. If not, then irrational anger would be the next most likely thing.

You decide to give them to the Fourth- you doubt you could just destroy them, anyway. You’ll worry about it more once you return home.

As you return to Hinata and Nori, Hinata looks up at you.

“Tsuki-hime, someone’s coming.”

Who…?

A young man slowly walks towards the crater, coming in from the southern path. He’s reletively well dressed, and has a passing resemblance to the village elder.

“Excuse me, ladies! What happened here? I’m the son of the local village elder, and I was supposed to meet a companion here…” he says, greeting you.

His eyes go wide with fear when he sees the leaf symbol on your waistband- where you’ve chosen to have your protector, for now.

“O-oh, I see! Shinobi of the noble Leaf Village! Don’t mind me, I’ll leave you to your business!”

The man makes to walk past you, into the village….

What do you do?

The village elder’s son…? The man who hired Raiga and his men.

“Oh, no worries! We’re working for your father!” you lie.
This seems to calm him down somewhat, and he turns to look at the crater.

As he does so, you bring the butt of your fan down as hard you can, right between his neck and his head- he goes limp.

Hinata seems a bit startled by this, but after a quick explanation, understands.
Slowly, you drag him, bound to the house of the village elder. Hinata carries Nori on her back.

You avoid the traps you set- they weren’t needed after all. You make a mental note to clear them, later.

As you walk inside, Yoku rushes into the room. “What happened? You just took off running, and I had no idea what to do…..”

“Ebisu-sensei is dead, Yoku-san.” you say, without any emotion.

He just stares blankly back at you, open mouthed.

“The enemy shinobi was one of the Seven Swordsman of the Mist- he’s dead as well. Your son here, Elder, certainly got his money’s worth.” You say, dragging the bound body of the son into the room.

The Elder begins to fuss. “My boy! Unhand him this instant! You brutes!, If you harmed my son, I’ll…!”

You make daggers with your eyes. You’ve seen Maru do it before to Father.
“You’ll do what, Elder? I’m curious. Our sensei died to protect us from your son’s hired gun.”

He just sits down, deflated.

Yoku speaks up now, having regained his composure. “So, what now? Has everything else been taken care of?

You respond…

1. Yes, there are no more enemies. If you can collect your money, we can go.
2. We’re leaving now, so I’d suggest concluding your business.
3. We’re leaving you here. You vastly undersold us for this mission, and as such, we’ll be taking our leave.

“There are no more enemies, Yoku-san. If you collect your money from the Elder here, we can go.” you say, dropping back into the professional tone of voice.

He frowns- he almost seems off-put by your lack of emotion.

He wanted Shinobi? He’ll get Shinobi.

“Very well. Elder, I’ll be taking the money, and be on my way. Your son will be accompanying us, to face justice at the capital along with his companion.

The elder begins to work himself up again- and then you make eye contact.

You aren’t sure what he sees, but whatever he does see, causes him to slump back in his chair.

You spend the rest of the day collecting and disarming traps, and then making sure everyone and everything gets to the carriage. The prisoners, bound and gagged, are thrown atop it, while Yoku sits in front with his money. You and Hinata place Nori inside, propping her up in the seat so she can continue resting.

When night falls, you ride. Yoku-san says he’ll drive through the night- he isn’t tired, anyway.

Hinata has said little, this whole time, and Nori is still sound asleep.

What will you do?

1. Sleep

When the mission is over.

When the mission is over….

What will you do when the mission is over…?

….Still not the time, Tsuki. There will be time for this later- back in the village.

“Hinata. Want to talk about it?” You offer. Maybe if you both talk about it, it will help in the long run.

“I… I’ll be ok, Tsuki-hime. Shinobi make sacrifices all the time- it’s in the line of our work. I’m more worried about Nori- she knew him better than either of us, and she doesn’t even know yet.” she says, looking down at her sleeping friend.

You can’t imagine what that’s going to be like. Your mother died bringing into the world, so you didn’t even really have to grieve for her. It’s odd.

The night passes into morning, into midday.

The prisoners mainly stay quiet, and don’t struggle.

Eventually you reach the clearing where you had started this gods-forsaken mission. The carriage comes to a halt.

“Here’s your stop, ladies. I’ll wait here- I assume that somebody is going to accompany me to the capital.” Yoku reports.

You aren’t really sure. You…
1. Bluff your way through it. You’ll just go to the Hokage’s office.
2. Be truthful. This is your first mission.
3. Be blunt.
>>
Might I make a suggestion anons, we keep the swords for now, hand them to Danzo to see if he can find a use or uncover their secrets with his contacts. If we keep them it doesn't mean we have to use them straight away, secondly we now have a signature mist weapon that can be put to use very well if done correctly
>>
>>47518524

Then escort Yoku to the Hokage, cause this is hardly regular.

Tell him we are reporting to the Hokage what happened so he can be assigned another more advanced and rested guard, he will be safer this way.

We voted to give them to the fourth, I really don't see any reason to put that off? Sure danzo could probably figure some shit out about them but probably so could lots of other people on the village payroll.

Pretty much this

So anons...are we gonna go ROOT with Danzo because right now it "seems" like we are just gonna be another generic goodie leaf nin. I'm aware some may still want that despite the more recent choices but im curious as to what anons are trying to shape Tsuki to being?

Honestly, you aren’t sure.

“Yoku-san, I’m going to be frank- this is a bit of an odd circumstance, and this was our first mission to boot.”

“T-this was your first mission? Gods above.” he stammers.

“I’m going to contact the guards- please wait here.” you tell him.

You hop off the carriage, and let the first pair of guard shinobi that you see at the gate know what’s going on. They encourage you to head to the office of the hokage, and say they’ll watch over the carriage for you.

You head straight to the Fourth’s Offices- no sense wasting time.

As you head in, you greet his secretary, who clears you to go on ahead and speak with him- and up you go.

You knock.

“Enter” you hear the voice of the Fourth respond.

Sitting at the desk is none other than Minato, just as you remember him from before. On his left, you see Kakashi Hatake, the copy ninja, who you remember is Nori’s brother’s sensei. On his right, you see Itachi Uchiha- the estranged prodigy ninja of the Uchiha clan.

There two men watch you, but don’t say anything as you enter.

“Ah! Tsuki Norihime. What can I assist you with? Weren’t you and your team assign a mission just the other day?” Minato says, smiling as he greets you.

You…

1. Tell it as it is, starting from the beginning.

You tell him everything- from your conversations in the carriage, to the briefing, to the assassination attempt and resolution, to the fight with Raiga’s men, to the confrontation with Raiga himself, and the aftermath.

Minato stoically listens, although his expression softens as you reach that parts about his daughter being hurt, and Ebisu-sensei’s final sacrifice. You place his glasses and his forehead protector on the table. Finally, you draw the Kiba Swords, and place them on the desk.

He takes a deep breath.

“First, thank you for completing the mission successfully, Tsuki. I appreciate your sense of duty, and the respect you have for both the village and your sensei. Obviously, we wouldn’t have given you the mission if we had even the slightest inkling of there being a missing-nin involved- Raiga Kurosuki has been on the general bounty lists for a long time. We’ll take the appropriate actions with the Daimyo- it is important that the village negotiate pay when the original offer was so mismatched to the actual threat. I’ll also send Itachi here to watch the prisoners and make sure they reach the Capital in one piece- although I suspect that both them and their families will feel the wrath of the Daimyo soon.

He leans back into his chair, and sighs.

“I’m sorry, Tsuki. I was the one who insisted you three go on this mission. It seemed innocuous enough, and I knew you three wouldn’t be happy chasing cats or weeding gardens. Especially Nori. Ebisu actually agreed that you were ready, but was worried about your safety, regardless. He was dedicated to making sure no harm befell you three. He was a true Shinobi, and will be greatly missed.”

“Now, there is a large paycheck waiting for you three- completing what will be recorded as a B-Rank mission, as well as a bounty for the demise of a missing-nin. I know that none of you girls particularly need the money, so I do have an idea, if it’s ok with you. I’d like to use the funds to add an new section of the Memorial Park. We can have his grave there as well, if you’d like. Ebisu had no living family- so as his students, for as short of a time as it was, you are his designated next of kin. “

“I agree wholehearted, Lord Fourth. Ebisu-sensei and our honored dead deserve this much, and I believe it would be the best use of the money. I don’t think Nori and Hinata will disagree.”

“I didn’t think so, either.” he says, while sorting through some paperwork. “I’ll get the paperwork started- it will take some time, but I believe that this will a good thing for the village as whole. The wars of the past are behind us, but it isn’t important to remember those who sacrifice every day for our continued safety.”

“Lord Fourth, my I keep his glasses, if you don’t mind?” you ask, showing only a slight bit of sentimentality.

“Of course. Keep his forehead protector as well. Let it remind you always of the sacrifice he chose to make, for yours and the village’s future.” he responds, while sporting a small smile.

“I know you are busy, Lord Fourth, so I only have one final question- after which I need to visit Guy-sensei. What do you plan to do with those swords?” you inquire.

“Well, they are our only proof of his death, so we’ll need them for a time at least. As it stands, I have no intention to return them to the Mist- they are, in part, to blame for this. Also, they haven’t had possession of the Kiba for several years, I doubt I’m going to have diplomats pestering me about it until next year by the earliest. We aren’t exactly on the friendliest of terms with them now,as it is. Why did you have some interest in them?” he responds.

“Yes, Lord Fourth. Having seem them in action, I cannot help but think they would be useful on the battlefield. I can utilize the lightning release, and feel with time I could use them for the benefit of the Leaf.” you say. You hope your eagerness doesn’t shine through.

“I’ll consider it. But only when and if I deem you ready. Also- one a condition you must agree too now. You must never use them on another Leaf Shinobi- even just to practice. Also, you would be forbidden from using them in the Chunin exams. These blades are weapons of war, created only to kill men. They are not toys.” he answers, his voice growing slightly more stern.

See that's the thing, a not insignificant amount of dark magic is actively corrupting. Clearing out the sociopaths won't help ravenclaw because it's hubris that leads to ravenclaw dark wizards. That's reasonable, though suggest research into their forging/ any thing special about them.

Sensible Agreement. Writing a Final Post!
>>
>>47519679
You are right Hokage-sama. Forgive my eagerness. It is improper. Put them in the hands of someone more able than I am. Perphaps Kakashi-san? He is famous for his lighting release alongside being the copycat ninja. Maybe one day I will earn the right to redeem these blood soaked weapons, but I am not that shinobi yet.

Thats the kinda forward thinking high intelligence should have.
>>
>>47519743
Gotta set up that path to becoming Danzo
>>
>>47519764
Why would anyone want to be Danzo? He's an insecure, self satisfying, imbecile who wouldn't know what is best for the leaf if it walked up to him and kicked him in the nuts.
>>
>>47519718
>>47519701
well, duh, if they beray the leaf they aren't leaf ninjas anymore they are missing nins
>>
Ninja and in shape Amanda Waller would be a better role model
>>
>>47519783
Coincidentally, what's best for the leaf is walking up to danzo and kicking him in the nuts
>>
>>47519783
>>47519764
>>47519795
SOMEONE has to be the Danzo, if we don't do it God knows who will. It's best we take his place and try to tone things down a little.

“I agree to your terms, Lord Fourth.” you say almost immediately.

“Good. You are free to go. Guy is on a mission with his team at the moment, so he isn’t around. I figure I’d save you some time. It’s a more stereotypical mission, however, so I wouldn’t worry. I’ll have him come to your place of residence when he returns.”

You bow, and say goodbye to the Hokage. You hear him and his men conversing as you go, most likely discussing Itachi’s new mission.

He didn’t mention a new sensei. You’re relieved. Although you know it’s inevitable- you just aren’t ready for what that right now.

You walk outside and see Hinata waiting for you.

“They took Nori to the Hokage’s residence, so I figured I’d wait here for you.” she says, still looking a bit lost.

“Ok, that’s good.” you respond. “Lord Fourth is taking care of the rest. Sensei is going to be remembered- by us, and by everyone in the village.”

She smiles, then, out of nowhere, she hugs you.

And begins to cry.

“Thank you Tsuki-hime. For everything.”

Well, being his next of kin makes going through his stuff for another thing so we're not trying to split two accessories among three people much simpler. It's our stuff now.
>>
AAAND we're rapidly approaching page 10, so I'm gonna end it here. It's been a wild ride boys, thanks for coming.

I hope I didn't hurt you all too badly.

@WargleQM for hatemail

No thread tomorrow most likely because holiday, but Tuesday for sure.

As normal I'll be hanging out for a bit as I archive the thread.
>>
>>47519812
I cannot handle 3 am feels man!
>>
>>47519850
Thanks Wargle see ya tomorrow.
>>

thanks for running

how big was that Ebisu folder?
>>
>>47519850

Thanks! See you Tuesday!
>>
>>47519850
How's the Ebisu Memorial Folder looking?
>>
>>47519850
So, uh... was Ebisu dying a part of your plan?
>>
>>47519900
Originally? Nope! But I roll with the punches.

Fun fact, I wrote out entirely different sequences, but eventually felt convinced this was the right option for the story

that's why it took so long
>>
>>47519783
Bitch and please. Everything he did was for the leaf. He had his flaws like everyone else but he understood in the shinobi world power is everything if you want to do anything.
>>
>>47519910

Any social link changes?
>>
>>47519868
>>47519878

21 Pictures, I still have a few I didn't get to use.
>>
>>47519910
Are there any other good keepsakes among Ebisu's stuff? Want to start thinking about distribution (shades hinata or bust)
>>
>>47519932
how's the short list for replacement Sensei coming along?
>>
>>47519932
>>47519941

Yeah.

Who's on the list for potential replacements?
>>
>>47519927
Well I mean

Ebisu died

Nori doesn't know what happened yet

You've gained majorly with Hinata, as would be expected.

Minato respects you more than before
>>
>>47519941
>>47519953

Spoilers. I have a few in mind.
>>
>>47519993

When will we find out about them?
>>
>>47519910
If we rolled better would he have lived?
>>
So, here's a thought.

Star Release.

I saw someone say "solar release" in an earlier thread, and "comet release" was in this thread. I like Star Release; it rolls off the tongue.

I also thought of Prometheus Release, but that's a lot more cumbersome and doesn't really fit the setting well. Blech. Still, fire and lightning are energy types that have to do with progress. Energy Release, maybe?
>>
>>47519936
Mostly sentimental stuff, but yeah he's got some things. Mainly extra uniforms, tools, and so on.
>>
>>47519953
There's always good-ole trusty Kabuto! Without Danzo he was never forced to kill his mother in self defence and get taken in by Orochimaru. Though I doubt he's quite as impressive as he could have been.
>>
>>47520000
Next thread. There will also be a small time-skip.

>>47520002
There were tiers for how well it would've went- you guys hit the bottom, and I still almost didn't go through with it.
>>
>>47519850
shot me right in the feels, but thats good, shows your doing a good job.

What do you think Danzo is gonna be thinking?

With our gains of social will the Hyuga be thankful for us taking charge and staying close to Hinata?

Did it hurt you as much as it hurt us writing his death out.

Hey anons, why don't we give Guy a piece of Esibu's stuff, they were on a genin team together under Choza.

How small of a time skip?

Plasma release rolls off the tongue even easier. My only concern would be plasma isn't a thing people know about in this world.

I demand Jiraiya or Itachi!

>>47520034
PLEASE DO IT
>>
>>47520032
You completed the mission, Ebisu did his job.
For the Hyuga, remains to be seen.
I almost didn't do it, so take from that what you will.

She's on the list

God damnit. Now I have to go back to the Naruto porn. It's been years. You know how hard it is to find good hypno/MC Naruto stuff?
>>
>>47520034
Oh yessss. Her or Asuma's girlfriend. Forgot her name.
>>
>>47520046

I could see them bringing in Jiraiya, if they know of Danzo working for Tsuki's family.

Trying to prevent/limit influence on her, maybe.

Keep friends close and enemies closer and all.

We could report back on him to Danzo

its a good list

You never answered the boobs question.
It's important we know how "stacked" our team is.
>>
>>47520093
Kurenai is already leading a team, unfortunately. Also she'd be useless (because genjutsu is complete shit unless you have a Sharingan).

On the plus side, if we get Anko, we might go two for two on sensei deaths when Orochi rolls around.
>>
>>47520032
I'd be inclined to ask him when we told him, if we weren't going to be skipping past that part.

>>47520073
He's estranged, basically not even an Uchiha,

"Tell you what, you guys train privately until you're ready for the chunnin exams so we can send you out on your own."

I really don't have an answer for you anon, most girls don't have developed breasts at 12

I just let the drawfags do their thing.
>>
So, Nori did know him a bit before, she might recognize something from his stuff and want to keep that. So that, glasses to hinata if she wants them, headband to us? Personally I vote to use it as an armband if so.

Rocky Mountains or bust!
>>
>>47520257
Actually I changed my mind, SUPER LATE BLOOMER.
Flat for years as Nori and Hinanta keep getting bigger and bigger until suddenly she grows tits overnight.
>>
I favor the larger end of the spectrum as well, just... big tits don't mix well with bows, we'd end up slicing her nipples off with the bow string, at least if we have her use a long bow, maybe there's some sort of shortbow draw that doesn't pull across the chest? or is that when we switch to a mechanical crossbow?
>>
>>47520296
Now that i can get behind!
>>
>>47520296

Sounds alright to me.
>>
>>47520296
Yeah, that could be fun, also... I realized my point about her bust interfering with archery probably doesn't apply to super ninja magic archery. So, BIGGEST OF THE THREE
>>
So this is going to be the event that gets Tsuki down off her high horse when it comes to melee combat, right? Because training to use a sword is going to take some time, and that's what "redeeming" Kiba is going to take.

I'd also be down with taking just one of the set. No need to appear greedy after all, and splitting the set makes it harder for someone hoping to "reclaim" them.
>>
>>47521525
Looks like it, I say we buy/have made a sword with similar weight and shape to Kiba, and just start using that in addition to our war fan. It is time for the Moon Princess of Konoha to get swole.
>>
>>47521622
Not *too* swole, mind you. More like git gud.

We've got the dots in Genjutsu. As much as I had wanted to save it for my own eventual run at something like this, a Genjutsu-Kenjutsu combination could be pretty lethal. Particularly when it's to ensure that MOTHERFUCKIN KIBA connects.
