Recently: You fulfilled your end of the bargain with your agency. You’re training before Robin’s match. Robert is training Vlad.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear vote winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just three 1d100s. Sometimes you can get a modifier from circumstances, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever! This is not a video game. Weak moves tend to be quicker.

Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

Anyway, I noticed this when I read through the last thread but, if Violet searched out Mewtwo who was its usual asshole Mewtwo self. Isn't there a chance that her sudden extreme assholery and pokemon devotion was caused by Mewtwo somehow? After all, we've long known she changed fairly suddenly according to her ex-husband. Could that match up timeline-wise? Maybe it sent a big old psychic barrage through her brain and messed her up or something.
>>
You get up fairly early. That’s pretty rare for you. Robin and Clair are sleeping like smiling, slobbering logs. After what you did to them last night, you’re not surprised. You check Robin’s alarm just to make sure she’s not going to sleep in, see it’s set for a little later, and grab a quick shower.

From there, you rush out to the Elite Four’s private gym.

Geno and Cliff are there. They’re having a quick battle. “There’s no way I’m going to let something like that happen again.”

Geno stops the fight. “Kat. Greetings.”

Cliff chews on his straw. “Well well well. Come for more training?”

“You know it!” You reach for your next Pokemon. Fel.

The hard-headed, powder-leaking Butterfree comes out. He’s by far the weakest Pokemon in your team, but he’s got a good spirit. His record for wins and losses is very impressive.

Maybe Violet didn't catch Mewtwo, but Mewtwo caught Violet.

I figure it's worth consideration at least. Maybe we should ask Clair about it? Obviously in-character Kat doesn't know much about Mewtwo, BUT we did find out the mystery pokemon originated from Mew which is Psychic, so we do have a basis for considering potential Psychic fuckery.
>>
>>47747520
>Obviously in-character Kat doesn't know much about Mewtwo
Wasn't one involved in Hornbeams scheme somehow? The part he was actually showing off.
>>
>>47747557
Hmmm, you might be right. The talk with the E4 was just vague yesterday. Even if Kat knows Mewtwo is a thing, would she make the connection with Violet's last pokemon?
>>
>>47747520
Even if not, he could have fucked with her mind during battle before getting caught. Pokemon supremacy IS basically mewtwo's MO after all. Doesn't mean it's 100% since you could argue they simply shared the passion beforehand, but...pretty damn suspicious.

You clap your hands. “Alright! Let’s pump you up.”

Geno keeps his arms folded and face passive as he steps aside. Behind him lays advanced weight systems and training equipment.

“Ha! Awesome.” You punch one of the bags. “Yo Adrian ha! Get it?!”

Geno just glares.

“I got it,” Cliff says, raising his hand in the back.

Fel slams into a bag, punched itn twice then headbutting it. Every time he connects, he makes a cute little “frlrlree” noise.

You work on a bit of everything, giving special focus to Speed. Fel goes at it pretty well, but when Cliff helps you turn it into a game, he learns to move a bit better. He’s no Vlad, but he gets a lot of progress. Part of what slowed him down was how he’s careful not to leak too much powder everywhere as he flaps, but if he angles his wings just right, he can manage to go faster and avoid that problem too.

Next is Oberon.

“Oh no, you again,” Cliff jokingly recoils, then grabs his wing and gives him a slap on the back. “How ya doin’ partner?”

Oberon looks confused at the casual manhandling. He looks to you for permission to put Cliff in his place and teach him about his presumptuous nature. You tell him to relax and give him a kiss on the cheek.

Oberon fumes in embarrassment as you decide what sort of training you’ll do with him.

Oberon is a crit-fisher, so this only makes sense.

Of course, if he doesn't know it already, teaching him Focus Energy is a good idea as well.
>>
>>47747520
I'm sorry anon, but this isn't warcraft. Not every villain is a villain because they're corrupted or mindraped by evil magic.
>>
>>47748227
Of course not. But these are some striking coincidences, all things considered, if that is what they are. Violet just happened to go after Mewtwo, the pokemon whose motivations throughout pokemon-related media tend to be centered on elevating pokemon over humans - and indeed his creation and escape closely mirrors the plot of first movie where that is indeed his plan - at the same time as she suddenly changed from loving wife to pokesupremacist looney? I think it's definitely worth exploring as a possibility.
>>
>>47748227
>>47748302
Plus, even if it was not some psychic assault and she's still of sound mind, it seems likely that her interactions with Mewtwo were what spurred her new obsession with pokemon. It would be interesting to figure out the details.
>>
You ask Geno for help improving Oberon’s critical hitting abilities, speed, and attack. He takes out his own Garchomp, has it slice a training dummy in half, and asks Oberon to duplicate the task.

Then he goes to the slow motion cameras and analyzes it for a few minutes.

“Here’s what you must do.”

You run through his training exercises. The trick, from what you understand, is to keep his claws down instead of up and ready for an attack and only bring them up at the last second. Opponents don’t know where to flinch or guard that way.

“I learned it watching Hockey,” Geno admits. “Professional players keep the angle of their shots hidden for as long as possible.”

“I didn’t know ya’ watched hockey.”

“I do not. I was training my Pokemon at an indoor ice-rink and saw children playing in the next rink over.”

Oberon does well. His speed, precision, and attack are noticeably better when he remembers proper form. You put him away as he gets snippy at the other Garchomp.

Next up is Nibbles. His sits and scratches behind his ear, oblivious to his surroundings.

Nibbles is very eager. His stubby little arms don’t do too well, though. You stop for a second, then have him use the claws on his feet instead. That works well.

“How about...Superpower?”

Nibbles stomps and snorts excitedly. He likes powerful moves. Emma comes in as you’re working on it. You’re pretty sure you overheard her mutter something to Geno about last night, but you’re too busy training.

Nibbles dents plate after steel plate. The machinery here carries the plates back and buffs them out before bringing them back.

You and Nibbles take a juice break. He eats the entire box before you can stop him.

“Maybe I can pour you a can into a dish, why do-”

Nibbles grabs the can out of Cliffs hand and eats them too. He smiles at first, but spits it right out after.

You skip over Aria. She needs to rest.

Raistlin is next. He serenely meditates, waiting for whatever you need.

Despite Vernon telling you that you don’t have enough time to learn it, you decide to take a crack at mega-evolution.

Okay, you can do this. You don’t want to get too arrogant, but you’re pretty darn good at mega-evolution.

You run Devon through some exercises and training to get the ball rolling, but you’re just not feeling it. You don’t know what it is, but you’re off your game today. You go late into the night but fail to make any meaningful progress. At least Devon had fun.

You’ve been training hard the last few days, and it won’t be long now until Robin’s match. You stretch, head back into the gym, and take out Trunks.

He cackles, but it falls off as he looks around the wide open, well-lit gym. Not many places to hide or shadows to use to look scary in here.

You and Trunks train on passively recovering health. You figure if he has so many other ways to recover it, maybe he can do it without thinking.

Training is hard. You run him through a lot of exercises. After a long, hard time, you think Trunks is getting the hang of it. It doesn’t last forever, but he can passively recover some health while doing other tasks. He recovers more the less he’s doing, and his moves seem to peter out quicker, but it works. You’re sure you can work those other things out over time.

“I’m really proud of you.”

He cutely hugs you. Then he runs off, cackling mad.

“Alright, Levi, your turn!”

She wasn’t going to roar when she comes out, but she sniffs the air and looks at Geno, and decides she should. She really goes over the top with it.

You and Levi work on Dragon Dance. She doesn’t have any particular weak areas to improve. Her strength has always been...well, her strength. Levi makes good progress. One thing that stands out to you is the experience evident in her eyes. She was a Gyarados when you caught her, and when she puts her pride aside, she’s pretty good about sizing up enemies. As time has gone one, she’s been less about acting on instinct, and more about thinking through how she attacks and defends. She learns to dance while being very evasive. It’s not perfect, but it just might give you an edge when you need it. She’s thinking like a snake instead of a dragon.

“Good job, Levi. You’re the best.”

She makes a loud noise. She knows it.

You eat sleep, shower, eat, and head back out. Just on cue, Robert’s there with Vlad.

They look like best friends. It’s very unnerving. Vlad lights up when he sees you, though. You get covered in slobber.

“Hey. Hey!” You laugh. “Sounds like you two really hit it off.”

Robert stops smiling and goes stern again. “He’s a strong Pokemon.”

He demonstrates Vlad’s new move. Flame Path. Vlad flies at top speed right by his target. A half second later, the path he took and a wide area around it lights up. It’s fantastic for fly-by attacks. You also notice the amount of air rushing it produces. You can really throw a Pokemon off balance.

The move’s direct damage is good but not amazing. Maybe comparable to something like Zen Headbutt. The opponent’s aim is sure to be off after Vlad uses it, and there’s a small chance to burn.

“Ha! Now use it twice!”

Vlad performs the same move, but he does it twice in a row. The two horizontal pillars of fire pull the training dummy apart. It seems stronger when used rapidly. You can practically ragdoll Pokemon that aren’t super heavy.

You hug Vlad hard. He’s a bit standoff-ish at first, but he gets back into it. It must have been a long three days for him. He snuggles into you, exhausted. You can tell because he’s becoming too heavy to hold now that he isn’t helping you hold him up. You slowly fall to the ground with him.

Asking permission for marriage is a bit presumptuous at this point, methinks
>>
“Thanks,” you tell him. “I owe you one.”

He nods respectfully. You’re polite but not disingenuous. He can respect that. That, and your pride as a trainer in wanting to clean the slate with owing him.

You run all your Pokemon through quick exercises. Mostly tightening any bolts on the new things they’ve learned. You have a weird feeling nagging at you about Robin’s upcoming battle. Something is nagging at you to be prepared.

You check out the time. Jeez. The last few days of training have gone by quickly. You can do some quick training, but nothing too fancy. You really thought you had more time.

You take Devon out to watch. You figure you should spend some time with him, even if it’s just him chilling beside you while you train someone else. He’s always happy to be around you.

You teach Vlad Baton Pass. He’s very tired from his training with Robert, but you can definitely see a change in his attitude. He’s a bit more disciplined

Vlad is pooped. He lays on the ground, breathing heavily.

“Good job, Vlad. You really nailed it.”

He smugly but weakly taps your hand with one of his wings.

“Alright. Rest up!”

You arrive at the arena. All your friends are there. They’re all dressed up too. You guess it is a bit of an event.

“Hey! Come on!” Jeanine grabs your hand. She looks absurdly stunning in her dress. “The royal family invited us up to watch from their booth.”

Well, if it’s already been decided, you guess that’s okay. You feel underdressed, though. You run up with everyone to the booth. It’s fa-ha-hancy! There’s a buffet, a bar, a lounging area, seats made out of materials that look very expensive, everything.

“Most pleasant greetings,” Sera bows.

“Kat!” The small princess drops her proper etiquette and hugs you.

Sera decides that if Beatrix can do it, so can she. She tackles you like a toy. Her powerful muscles lift you up and she spins you. You’re pretty sure you can hear her expensive dress ripping just a bit under her arms.

You greet everyone back.

Robin’s there. She has the same clothes she’s been wearing while training. It’s a tiny jumpsuit for boys that’s just a hint too tight around her feminine hips. You guess she doesn’t want to do anything to disrupt her mindset. She’s on the PC in the back, talking something over with one of the professor’s assistant.

“Well, the theory checks out, anyway. Why do you want to know this? Don’t you have a match in like...now?”

Robin thanks them for their help and ends the call without answering the question. She turns to greet you.

“Well, today’s the day.” She’s shaking and sweating bullets

You give Robin a kiss. She grasps your hand. That’s moment is all she needs. She smiles, lets your hand slip from hers, and leaves.

The match will begin any second now. You pace. Everyone stands around and chats and just acts like it’s no big deal. Or at least, they’re trying to. You can tell that this match means a lot to most of the people here. Your friends, or rather, Robin’s friends, the royal family, the professor, Vernon.

Wait.. “Oh hey! Professor Fir! Vernon!”

They come up and greet you. “I can’t wait fer’ this,” Vernon slaps his cane down. “You ready to fight Robin for the Championship? Maybe I’ll come back and challenge whichever one of you wins!” He laughs at his own joke.

The professor looks incredibly awkward. It’s pretty cute. He leans down to whisper. “Should I kiss their hands? Should I kiss yours?”

Oh yeah, You’re a viscountess. You’d think you’d remember that more.

You chat with them for a bit as all the pre-match hype and shows go through. They’re really milking his thing. Promos and music and ads blare.

You see Robin down in her area. She’s mentally counting all the trees, rocks, ponds, and other parts of it. Probably calming her nerves.

The match starts any second now. You fidget. You just can’t sit still.

You decide to use the PC that’s here to swap Raistlin for Oberon and Aria for Dan. She should relax back at the lab. You remind them to give her plenty of juice. You remind her to be a polite guest. They both assure you that it’s fine.

You try playing your flute a little. It doesn’t last long before Sera plops herself down next to you.

“You look most eloquent.” Her diction is amazing. You can tell she’s put a lot of effort into fitting in.

Clair sits down beside you. Sera just reaches over and honks one of her boobs. You guess she knows some manners better than others.

You calm Clair down before she pops a gasket, and explain to Sera why she shouldn’t do that. Sera proclaims her ignorance.

“She’s lying!” Clair points. “She knows better!”

Sera just grins and laughs. Guilty.

You hang with them for a bit, catching up. Sera’s been adjusting well. The palace is crawling with her Pokemon friends, which has been a struggle for her human family. It’s all very complicated. Everyone’s making efforts though. She says she can’t make up her mind about Prince Arledge. You can’t, either.

The match is about to start.

You sit down and watch. The group in your booth all take their seats as the countdown begins.

Violet sends her Pokemon out first. Robin fumbles for a second before throwing out her own ball. She sends out Ninetails against Violet’s Gengar.

“And interesting match up.”

“That’s right, Chip. Mother and daughter facing off in the battle of the decade.”

“Before starting her journey, Robin was training to take over the fire gym in Kindletown. I wonder if that’s part of the reason she’s led with Ninetails. An uncharacteristic change from her usual lead of Golem or Joltik.”

“Speaking of Pokemon that haven’t been seen lately, Chip I know our audience can’t wait to see the champion’s rarely public Pokemon.”

“Indeed! She’s been very guarded about all of them being seen in public. The secluded champion has gained a strong following simply by refusing to be seen in public often, making each appearance an event.”

Violet throws out her hand and yells a command. Gengar mega-evolves and unleashes a devastating Shadow Ball. Robin’s Ninetails shakes it off and uses Disable.

Violet frowns. “What game is this, hmm?”

Robin, instead of shrinking, gives her best attempt at an arrogant smirk.

Violet’s nostrils flare just the tiniest bit. “Dark Pulse!”

“Imprison!”

Gengar manages to hit Ninetails before Imprison takes effect. Ninetails is in rough condition, but Violet is the one that looks unsure. She quickly wipes that off of his face, though.

“Gengar...use...use...Toxic.”

Gengar is unable to use it. Violet has to guess what moves of hers she can use since Imprison disabled all moves that Ninetails knows. Ninetails uses Power Swap.

Violet’s eyes go wide. Power Swap switches your attack and special attack with your opponent.
>>
>>47751242
“Oh man this is the best thing I’ve ever seen,” Clair gushes over Violet’s hesitation.

Gengar looks back to Violet. She tries to regroup, but the pressure is on as Ninetails uses Nasty Plot.

“Rain Dance!” Gengar is happy to have something to do, and he does it well.

“What a surprising start. It looks like Violet is thrown off her game.”

“Not at all what I would have predicted, Chip. And it may be inappropriate to say, but you can’t help but read a certain smugness on Robin’s face.”

Violet swaps Gengar out and throws in Swampert instead. It takes a hard Ominous Wind as it comes in. By what can only be sheer luck, it was the lucky one in ten chance of raising all of Ninetails stats.

“Energy Ball!”

“Earthquake!”

Swampert Mega-evolves as he pulls off the move. Violet’s even smoother and quicker than you on this front. Both moves are pulled off at the same time and result in a double knockout.

The crowd goes insane.

“I can’t believe my eyes! A double knock out!”

“I know some people thought the hype for this match was overplayed, but I have to tell you Chip, I’ve never been so excited to be here at the League.”

“Neat trick, Robin. But you don’t really understand your Pokemon like a champion should. You’re relying on silly games, not bonds.”

Violet throws out her Lucario. Robin waits for a second.

“Oh? Lost your nerve? Out of tricks already?

Robin throws her ball as far as her skinny arms can make it go. Out comes a glowing, pulsating Joltik. “Hurry! Like we planned!”

Joltik scurries the rest of the way to Lucario. Lucario uses Protect. Violet seems a lot more cautious of Robin now.

Joltik uses Double Team while crawling over Lucario and glowing increasingly brighter.

“It looks like Joltik is evolving!”

“That’s right, Chip. And I’m no expert, but it looks like it was evolving before it was put into the ball. What could Robin be planning?”

Violet’s face says the same thing, before she suddenly has a flash of realization. You wish you knew what was going on.

“No way. I won’t taint anything by reading any minds. I could get around the new safeguards they put in, but if I got caught...”

“Then they might disqualify the match.”

Clair looks up and Jeanine and punches her in the arm. “Yeah. That’s what I was going to say.”

“Lucario may not be able to see which Joltik ins the real one, but if they’re crawling on him, he can feel it! Lucario, grab it and use Dragon Pulse!”

Lucario feels around on it’s back to grab Joltik, and after some initial struggling, manages to grab it. He holds up up to it’s mouth with both hands and-

Joltik evolves into Galvantula at the exact same time it uses what looks like Discharge and Bug Buzz.

Lucario still blows it away with Dragon Pulse, reeling back as it does so.

You look to Robin’s face on the jumbo screen. Whatever she was trying to do, she’s really hoping it worked. Wait, the jumbo screen just fuzzed out for a second.

“Looks like we’re having some technical difficulties.”

“That’s right, Chip. Some sort of radio interference. To our viewers at home are watching, please be patient while we sort the issue out.”

Lucario’s body buzzes with electricity as well as being paralyzed. He shrugs it off and rushes forward, striking the Galvantula with a Poison Jab, knocking it cleanly out.

“Y-you did well,” Robin says. Whatever her plan was, it’s obvious she doesn’t know if it worked or not.

Robin sends out Dragonite.

Dragonite Uses Earthquake, but Lucario avoids it with Magnet Rise. Lucario leaps at him with an Ice Punch. It’s a powerful strike that almost makes Dragonite double over. Lucario then pushes itself off to dive for cover against it’s counter attack. Thanks to it’s Multiscale though, it’s able to right itself and grab on to use Focus Blast. Robin points out exactly where to fire it to assist Dragonite’s aim.

Lucario lands exactly where Robin predicted. She taps the side of her head near her eye when Violet looks surprised. “Magnet Rise let’s me see the magnetic fields around Lucario.”

The rain is slowing down. Dragonite and Lucario spar, exchanging blows. It’s clear Lucario is the stronger opponent, but Robin and Dragonite are able to take advantage of being in the air and Lucario’s status condition. When the rain dies, Dragonite is able to unleash powerful fire attacks.

“I can tell this is your strongest Pokemon, dear. Whatever scheme you’re cooking up won’t work. We’ll wear you down. We’ll win.”

As the battle continues to go on, Dragonite keeps more stamina while Lucario keeps more health. Robin’s been fighting defensively as much as possible.

“Now!” Robin points. Dragonite, instead of flying away or backing off after every exchange, grabs onto Lucario and pins it. “Rest!”

Dragonite falls asleep on top of Lucario. It struggle to get loose, but it’s too tired. It’s arms and legs can’t effectively punch or kick. “Very well! Dragon Pulse!”

It fires right into Dragonite’s sleeping face. Dragonite counters with Snore.

“Again!” Violet commands.

Lucario is cut off before it can use it again. Snore makes it flinch. Lucario tries again, but every time it opens it’s mouth and exerts itself, it struggles that much more to stay conscious. Dragonite’s weight is just too much, and it passes out. Dragonite wakes up and pushes itself off.

Violet regains her composure when she retrieves it. “Alright, Robin. I was going to toy around, but I suppose it’s just a better idea to put you in your place quickly and hard before you start believe that anything you’ve done yet matters.” She sends out Blaziken. “Mega evolve and crush it!”

Blaziken takes a quick pose and...nothing happens.

Robin lights up. “It worked! Hurry!”

Dragonite slaps it hard with Aqua Tail. It was unprepared and crashes hard into the rocks. It quickly gets back up and looks at it’s hands in panic.

“Blaziken! What’s happening? Mega-evolve!” Violet closes her eyes to concentrate and get in sync. “Breathing exercise number four!”

Robin doesn’t let up though, she hits it again.

Violet gives up on mega-evolving. “Nevermind! Just fight!” Blaziken leaps into action and strikes out with Brave Bird.

“It was Joltik, wasn’t it?” Her voice is deep accusing, and full of murder. “What. Did. You. Do!”

“It’s temporary,” Robin assures both her and the audience and especially the referees. “When you use your Pokedex to stop a Pokemon from evolving, it works by emitting a certain frequency. But that’s not what I did. I can submit schematics to my eye in case you think it was that.” Robin gushes just a bit. She’s proud. “Using the special energy from Joltik evolving into Galvantula, combined with a well timed combination of moves and using a steel Pokemon like Lucario as a transmitter-”

Violet screams, silencing Robin and the crowd. “This proves it! This is exactly what I’ve been saying. You couldn’t just work on your bond with your Pokemon. Oh no. Like all humans, you have to kill the magic and wonder of the world. You have to ruin it by working out some complicated science scheme to control something you don’t understand emotionally. Do you even understand what being a Pokemon Master is all about?” She opens her arms wide to gesture to the entire arena. Large parts of the crowd seem to be swayed by Violet. “That’s a disgusting trick, Robin. Using Joltik’s evolution like that.”

“B-but Joltik wanted to. He-”

“But your terrible exploitation won’t matter.” Violet laughs. A small vein can be seen on her forehead. “You’ve exposed what a terrible person you are for nothing!” The laughter dances on the edge of sounding a bit over-the-top villainy. Despite that, an audible amount of the crowd still takes her side and boos against Robin. “We can’t lose.”

Robin does her best to brush it aside and gives Dragonite a command. Violet stops working the crowd and has Blaziken fight back normally. Despite the initial momentum favoring Dragonite, Blaziken manages to come out on top. There’s just too much of a skill gap between Robin’s Pokemon and Violet’s
.
Robin retrieves Dragonite and whispers something to its ball that’s drowned out by the crowd.

Robin sends out Gyarados.

“No mercy, no toying around. Thunder Punch!”

The fiery Pokemon leaps into the air and hits Gyarados with an electrified fist.

Gyarados just smiles and hits it with Waterfall.

“It looks like Gyarados was entirely unhurt.”

“That’s right, Chip. If I’m not mistaken...was that Motor Drive?”

Gyaradoses improved speed answers that question. But it’s no match for Blaziken’s absurd speed from Speed Boost. The water Pokemon chases it like a snake while it continually leaps back, dodging every attack. Blaziken uses a strong Rock Slide move, pinning Gyarados temporarily. Gyarados hits it with Hyper Beam, wiping it right off the arena and into the side wall.

Violet retrieves her Pokemon. “Again, Robin, ultimately this doesn’t matter. You’ve brought a few surprises, but nothing you do is more powerful than our bonds.”

She throws out Gengar again. It’s still mega-evolved from before.

Robin tries to retrieve Gyarados while it’s recovering from Hyper Beam, but Shadow Tag prevents it.

Gengar appears in front of Gyarados and uses Scary Face, lowering its speed.

“Whatever speed-dependent plan you’re working on with Motor Drive, I won’t let you.”

Robin takes a second to regroup while Gyarados does the same, then has him uses Double Team.

“It’s not often you see powerhouse type Pokemon using evasive moves like Double Team.”

“That’s right, Chip. It seems like Robin is trying for a new strategy.”

Violet smirks. She uses Taunt. “Nah-ah, dear. No more games for you.”

Run sweats. “D-dig!”

Gyarados dives into the ground. Violet uses Nasty Plot. “Tsk tsk.”

The announcers explain to the audience members that aren’t surprised.“Gengar’s don’t normally know Nasty Plot.”

“That’s right Chip. But just like Motor Drive, when you play at this level, you need to throw those expectations out the window.”
>>

Gengar uses Substitute to avoid the Dig. But Gyarados doesn’t come after Gengar. Instead, it explodes through a series of rocks, sending dust everywhere. Because it’s behind a series of other rocks, Gengar doesn’t have direct line of sight to it. Gyarados continues smashing the rocks to dust and waving it all over the arena. She follows up by using a powerful fire move at the center of the arena is such a way that it causes a small tornado that whips around the sand, just like Robert did in his battle. Visibility is low by the time Gengar gets an angle to attack. It’s unclear if it’s Shadow Ball landed or not. Either way Gyarados hits it with a Crunch on Robin’s specific directions before vanishing back into the dust. Gengar’s ability to roll with the blows is lessened because if it tries to leap or move too quickly, the whipping winds throw it off balance.

“Yes yes. Very impressive, Robin. You can see through the dust and I can’t.” Violet claps. “Gengar, you know what to do.”

Gyarados hits Gengar with another Crunch, but before it can vanish again, Gengar hits it with Telekinesis! The giant water Pokemon is trapped floating in the air.

Violet wags a finder. “No more evading.”

“Gyarados! Use Earthquake!”

Gengar tries to leap away with a cocky grin, but the ground it lands on gives way and it falls down.

“She dug a trap hole when using Dig before! Don’t get stuck! Get out and used Shadow Ball again!”

Gengar leaps up out of the hole and uses Shadow Ball. Gyarados is hurt, but ready. He smacks Gengar into the flaming tornado in the centre of the arena. Gengar is confused as it spins up the funnel. You can’t clearly see what happens to it, but it fires a very wide show that the Mr. Mimes have to block from hitting the audience.

When it reaches the top and the tornado dies down, Gyarados finishes it with Hydro Pump.

This is some really impressive bullshit Robin is doing, I don't think we could think of any of these.
>>
>>47751429
They might be operating at a level somewhat above our level here.
>>
>>47751444
Trips lie! We can do the bullshit. Just haven't been on the edge to do it yet. My autism for this quest already has plans for every pokemon we have seen.
>>

The crowd cheers for Robin. Violet’s veered too much into looking like a total vicious lunatic. But still, she has some supporters. She doesn’t seem to care too much either way.

Robin retrieves Gyarados as Violet sends out her next Pokemon, Kangaskhan. Sylveon comes out to meet it.

“Retaliate!” Kangaskhan charges forward. Retaliate is a move that doubles in power if used after an ally faints.

Sylveon uses Protect. Kangaskhan's attack fails to penetrate the protective bubble. The ground shakes all around them both.

Violet follows up with Return. Robin’s Sylveon manages to block it with her ribbons. It uses Charm, harshly lowering Kangaskhans attack power.

“Oh? Some sort of extra protective move from Sylveon!”

“Indeed, Chip. That move looks exhausting, though.”

He’s right. Sylveon doesn’t look like it can use that trick again for awhile.

There’s a long exchange of attacks and counters. Kangaskhan dominates it, though. Sylveon manages to dance and dodge, avoiding the hardest blows, but the longer the match goes on, the more worn down he gets. She manages to use Fake Tears, lowering Kangaskhan's Special Defense.

Violet uses Disable on Robin’s Protect, keeping her from using it again for awhile. When that wears off, she tries using Spite, but Sylveon’s been waiting for that, and uses Trump Card first.

Violet smiles. “Oh. I see what you’re doing.”

Sylveon starts on the offensive now. Kangaskhan is fighting cautiously. Trump Card is extremely powerful if used repeatedly. Spite mimic’s the same effect for moves, making it feel as if you’ve used it many times already. Violet knows that Trump Card can take her Pokemon out, but Robin only has one use of it. It’s just a matter of getting her to waste it, or take her out first.
>>
Honestly regardless of Robin winning or not I feel we have better general chances against Violet. The plans here are against her mother sure, but she has been missing for ages. Robin probably knows what we'd do before we do, meanwhile Violet had bitch power on her side, and as a larger bitch we would win.
>>
>>47751467
Sylveon manages to land small blow after small blow. Swift here, Draining Kiss there. Kangaskhan, while being very careful to be ready for Trump Card, still manages to get in a few of it’s own, though. But Robin’s pushing it backwards because of it’s evading stance.

Robin and Violet both grin. They each believe they have the other where they want them.

“Substitute, then Body Slam! All at once!”

Kangaskhan moves with surprising speed. Wait, no, it was moving this quickly at the start of the match, wasn’t it? Have they been slowing down during the fight?

Vance grasps his chair. “She’s been holding back this whole time! Luring Robin and Sylveon into a slower tempo!” He grunts. “It’s a martial arts technique. A more disciplined fighter will gradually slow things down, then attack with a sudden burst of speed.”

You watch. It’s like slow motion. Kangaskhan uses Substitute.

Sylveon has only begun to dig in. He’s going for the attack, and you can tell from his body language that he’s committing to this attack.

Kangaskhan leaps forward. It has nothing to fear now. It knows that with Substitute up, Trump Card will be wasted.

Sylveon uses Hyper Voice!

The large Pokemon slows in the air, then gets thrown back. Hyper Voice completely bypasses Substitute. It crashes through a tree and then out of bounds. Not that it needed to land outside the ring. It’s knocked clean out.

>>47751444
To be fair. Gobble is choreographing this fight. If we were in a fight there would be a lot more random chance and shit going on.
>>
>>47751493
HELL YEAH! Robin is a fucking genius! Unfortunately, I seriously doubt that it's going to be enough if Violet pulls out Mewtwo.
>>
For the final if we face Robin, I kinda wish it was done on something like Akun. That way Gobble would have time to think up some tricky strategies for Robin to use each turn. Otherwise we kinda have an advantage over everyone else Robin has fought, just because Gobble can't plan it all out ahead of time.
>>
>>47751515
Well Gobble does know literally everything we do and more about things. Our only saving grace would be the 1 or 2 secrets we have and the dice in our favor. Unless Gobble also did Bo3
>>
>>47751515
Being a bit unpredictable is sorta our shtick though?

Violet retrieves her Pokemon. You can’t hear what she says to it, but it sounds like a sincere apology. She takes a deep breath and closes her eyes.

“Absolutely incredible. Robin has three Pokemon left against Violet’s one.”

“Indeed, Chip. But I have a feeling it’s not over yet.”

Violet laughs. “Robin. Robin, Robin, Robin. I admit. Your tricks and your schemes have taken you a long way. But it’s over. People are full of tricks and dishonest, but no amount of that will make you better than a Pokemon. A human is a human, and a Pokemon is a Pokemon. That’s just the way it is.”

Robin looks to Sylveon. “Use Wish.”

Violet chuckles. “Fine then. Be that way.” She throws out her last Pokemon. “Go, Mewtwo.”

It appears in a flash of light, just like any other Pokemon. But it’s posture, it’s gaze, it’s eyes, they’re all different.

A hush falls over the crowd, then some muttering. “Did she just call that Pokemon Mewtwo?”

Robin hesitates for just a second. “Toxic!”

The Pokemon’s eyes glow. It uses Protect without even moving.

Sylveon is healed with Wish.

“That won’t do you any good~” Violet wags a finger. “Have some respect for your Pokemon, Robin. Concede the match.”

“Y-you’re a hypocrite! You’re the one that should concede!”

Sylveon uses Trump Card! Mewtwo holds out a hand, closes it into a fist, and Trump Card explodes in midair before reaching it.

Mewtwo telekinetically brings up a mass of rocks. They swirl above it’s head.

Sylveon Leaps through the explosion dust and uses Swagger. Mewtwo gets confused and swings its arms down. Rocks crash down all around the arena. Some strike Mewtwo itself. Although it summons a shield to stop the majority.

“Yes!” Robin leaps.

You know how she feels. If it can be hit, it can be beat.

“Luck. Nothing more.”

Mewtwo shakes off it’s confusion. Sylveon leaps at it, adjusting its body in the air in preparation for landing an attack. Mewtwo uses Swagger this time, but Sylveon uses Magic Coat, reflecting the move.

Violet takes a deep, rage-filled breath. “You’ve had your fun, but we’re done here, Robin.” She points. “Aqua Tail!”

Sylveon brings it’s ribbons up to defend just like it did when it first came out. The attack just blows right through his defence and sends him smashing into the arena wall.

“Sylveon is unable to battle.”

Robin hangs her head and retrieves her Pokemon. She throws out Gyarados.

“Gyarados, use Crunch-”

“I told you, we’re done here! Me First!”

Mewtwo appears in front of Gyarados in the blink of an eye. It strikes hard with it’s own Crunch

Gyarados crashes to the ground.

“N-no!”

Mewtwo stands there, staring at her. She tries to look past or around it to her Pokemon, but it moves it’s head in the way.

“Y-you don’t have to listen to her.”

It it’s eyes flash. Clair turns an even paler shade of white.

“I-I see.” Robin hangs her head.

Mewtwo leaps back, allowing Robin to recall her Gyarados. “G-good job. Gyarados.”

Robin freezes up.

“Robin still has one last Pokemon left. Can she come up with another strategy to defeat this new foe?”

“I’ve got to tell you Chip, I’ve been doing this for a long time, and I’ve never seen a trainer with so many clever plans. I’ve also never seen a Pokemon as incredibly powerful as this one.”

Violet taps her foot. “You’ll run out of time, dear. Just give up and save your Pokemon the embarrassment.”

“I-I-I can’t give up! They’ve worked so hard...”

“I’m sure they have, my dear sweet child. But you’ve failed to learn. Mewtwo may owe it’s existence to people, but he’s still a Pokemon just like any other. You and I are just humans. We-”

>>
>>47751892
Anon, thats because we knew game mechanics would win in those. Against Robin, our problem would be that we have to tell Gobble our plans as we make them, meaning more time for Robin to take them into consideration. So we simple have to go for short, but crazy plans.

Ya, we're kinda her hard counter in that regard. We also know her pretty well so we'd have a better chance of predicting her game plan than Violet did.

>>
>>47751931

[Robin has been actually incredibly worried about fighting you. Kat's big thing is that her Pokemon have a lot more autonomy than most. She doesn't have to plan against just you. She has to plan against all your Pokemon.

Kat's tendency to go with her Pokemon's flow is also why she can mega-evolve more easily than most everyone, and why Violet thinks she can possibly convince you to see things her way.]

Funny how that works.

Same thing has happened in a game I'm running IRL.

My players got attached to a throwaway NPC in the first session and now they're rescuing his friends from a Reaper-infested slave mine.

That fun fact aside, the next time you decide to run a pokemon quest, count me in from day dot.

There're virtually zero good pokemon fanfictions in existence and the archive of this reads like what the anime could've been.

Anyway, thanks for running.
>>
>>47752032

>>
>>47752197
I don't see how it matters either way. Both of us are great trainers/battlers and would make a good champion.

Plus, whichever one of us is the Champ this year, the other will just fight in the League the next year to try to take the title.

Maybe we could petition to be double champions? Anyone who makes it to the end can choose to fight one of us or do a double battle.
>>
>>47752121
Well, the Nuzlocke community has got some great comic runs, (Kit-fox Crimson's runs will never cease to be hilarious,) but as far as the vanilla community goes, they really don't do subtlety. Or depth.

And they're not especially good at either of those things with characters.

The fanart is generally pretty good, but this is probably the best 'story' in the whole fandom.

It sure as hell outdoes some of the more recent movies.

It's fanfiction, you can just search for Pedestal and pokemon and it should come up.

Though upon re-examination it's a lot more grimdark than I remembered it being, and I might have oversold it.
>>
>>47752197
Oh we should definitely beat her, go all out. If she finds out that we held back or let her win, it would just really be a terrible thing to do. She had a lot of confidence problems for a long time she is maturing over and it would set her back a very long way.
>>
>>47752456

>>
>>47752592
I'll give that a look too.

It's a shame that if you try looking for pieces featuring Mewtwo or Lucario or similar pokemon, you just find garbage.
>>
>>47752673
I'd recommend that before or instead of Pedestal, since it's a good deal shorter. Pedestal is like 150 chapters. But yeah anything focusing on the more popular pokemon probably won't be great
>>
>>47752953
Yeah, and that's really a shame, because a decently skilled author could do a lot if they knew what they were doing.
