For decades the International Forum has helped maintain a tenuous peace between the great powers of the world, but that peace is crumbling. What began as a conflict over resources in the Great Interior Desert escalated into a full blown war between those who backed the IF and those who would reject it. Multiple nations across the eastern border of the desert have rejected the authority of the IF Security Council and a task force of Peace Keepers has been mobilised to put down this alliance of rogue nations. Meanwhile the powerful Republic of Zanvra continues to antagonise and undermine the IF. As the fires of war spread rapidly across the desert secret cabals engage in a shadow war to tip the balance of power in their interests.

In the middle of all this stands the Caramel Camel Corps; an eccentric band of mercenaries caught at the crossroads of history…

…Welcome back Pilot.

Welcome to the Mecha Mercs Skirmish Campaign.

This is a tactical turn based collective game where each player takes on the role of a mech pilot. As the campaign progresses the players will accumulate a supply of resources which can be used to build up a persistent pool of mechs and equipment, but watch out! If your pilot dies you could lose it all and be forced to start again with an inferior mech.

Right now the game has returned from a long hiatus and I will be accepting up to 20 active players.

Priority will be given to players who participated previously but there should still be plenty of slots for newcomers.

I've made a few changes to both the tactical and meta layer of the game.

Due to the strain of processing too many active players at the same time I have decided to put a limit of no more than 10 mecha for each mission and run more smaller missions instead of one large one. In this way I hope to allow more players to participate.

The game will now progress in "Campaign Turns". Each turn the Players will select missions and assign themselves to each one. The missions will then be run one after another, once all missions have been run the game will enter the hanger phase where everybody can spend their mission rewards on new equipment and the next round of missions can be selected.

Tactical Rules v1.6:
-Hard limit on drones, no more than 2 per mech.
-Stealth rules revamped. Detection now requires special equipment and is based on dice rolls.
-Minor balance tweaks for various stats, bonuses and company assets.

Finally to reduce the amount of book keeping I have to do it will be a player's responsibility to keep track of their inventory. I will only be tracking how much cred everybody has and the company support assets. Please do not abuse my trust. I will be very annoyed if I have to perform an audit.

Cable Guy: “Well it’s only been a week since we helped repel the invasion of Beskaosia but with everything that’s happened it feels like it’s been a lot longer. Funny how time flows… Anyway I’ve put together selection of new jobs for us. With the whole war going on there’s no shortage of combat deployments, but there are also some jobs that aren’t directly related to the desert. I’ve also received a few messages from various people.”

Mysterious Contractor: “The IF is not the force for good you think it is. With Zanvra preparing for war, the Security Council can no longer enforce international law effectively. Retribution for acting against them is no longer guaranteed. We encourage you to… explore alternative jobs on the market.”

Richard Irving: ”Yo Camel Corps! I know we’ve had our… differences in the past but one thing I know we have in common is our love for big fat stacks of cash. I have job for you; a filthy, dirty, sexy job that will make us both rich!”

>Guye Co. Industrial Sabotage
Client: Dvorak
Mech Limit: 10

Description: Deploy to Merika and destroy key targets at a Guye Co. manufacturing plant.

Intel: Expect a handful of elite mech units supported by a few squads of combat vehicles. Be careful about moving through the surrounding civilian areas, the local populace is quite… ornery. Mech Recovery is possible, salvage is not. Completing this mission will grant us more information about the technology behind the Cognis super-mech.

>Midas Range Territory Acquisition
Client: Some Independent town in the Midas Range
Mech Limit: 10

Description: Attack and secure the base of a local warlord. If we pull this off the base will belong to us and we will have a defensible location to use as a black site.

Intel: Expect plenty of rough terrain. The Warlord’s forces consist of ill equipped mecha supported by a few light vehicles, VTOLs and static base defences. Given the region it is possible that dangerous megafauna may show up on the battlefield. Mech recovery and salvage is possible only if the mission is successful.

>Destroy the YOLOs
Client: The Qadrus Armed Forces
Mech Limit: 10

Description: Droiqubar have deployed a new type of super heavy assault server called a YOLO. Nobody knows what that stands for. Troops in the field say it means: You Outta Look Out! QAF wants these vehicles destroyed before they can be used to bolster the Droiq advance on their defence lines.

Intel: The YOLOs themselves are large heavily armed and armoured assault servers. Unlike regular assault servers their weapons are more than just defensive. The YOLOs are accompanied by a few regular mecha squads. The Droiqs also have a VTOL squadron in the area acting as a quick reaction force. Mech recovery and salvage is possible.

Star in a Movie
Client: Nollywood
Mech Limit: 5
Description: A movie studio is filming a giant monster movie and needs a mech unit to perform some manoeuvres for the camera. The shoot is taking place in the outer Exclusion Zone.
Intel: Obviously there will be no enemies, but this is the Exculsion Zone we’re talking about. You may run into some mega fauna but on the whole should be easy money.

>Steal Nuclear Materials
Client: Richard Irving
Mech Limit: 5

Description: Attack the radioactive materials processing facility in Odros and steal some enriched Uranium. Warning: This will seriously piss off the IF.

Intel: With the outbreak of the war the IF have had to reduce the amount of forces guarding the facility in Odros but recon reports that there is still an elite squad of peace keeper mecha on site. This is a highly illegal operation, payout will be very high but mech recovery and salvage will not be possible.

>Raid on a Zanvran Naval Base
Client: The IF Peace Keepers
Mech Limit: 10

Description: Perform a lightening raid on a Zanvran Naval base to reduce their ability to move their forces across the inland sea. Strike quickly and destroy key targets before exfiltration.

Intel: You will be in the heart of enemy territory. Expect combined arms forces to oppose you. Enemy presence will only increase over the course of the mission so time is of the essence. Allied warships in the area will be able to provide limited fire support based on the completion of secondary objectives. Mech recovery and salvage is not possible.

Is power surge continuous or something that only happens when you use the equipment? Also is mecha cost based off black market price or regular price for things like the auto-loader?
>>
>>48026051
Irving: "The Black Market's volatile, who knows what I'll have for you next time, maybe it'll be more of the same, maybe it'll be something completely different."

>>48026537
Power Surge is continuous. It's basically a debuff I made to balance AESR's equipment. The idea being that the power output of their stuff is so high it lights you up on sensors.
>>
>>48026581
Speaking of AESR is the Trinity Drone limited to two or can it have three?
>>
>>48026611
Limited to two like everything else I'm afraid. I designed it before the drone nerf so... yeah. If I made an exception for it then I'd have to make an exception for other drone types and I decided to draw the line at two.

Also made another typo in the play rules. Drone Control lets you issue commands to all your drones, not just one. I've corrected it in the player resources but I didn't notice it the first time I posted the new rules.
>>
>>48026581
"What a shame. At least I've got enough for a mission or two for now. I'm really intrested in those cool alternative ammo, so if you get some, I'm deal. And those cool peacekeeper weapons. Boy, if only I had the money I would love to buy one and just sit in the garage tinkering with it to just see how it works. Not that I'll actually buy one or, heavens forbid, use it on the field. Peacekeeprs are scary."

As your commanding officer, I must point out that actually utilizing those munitions on any targets is in flagrant violation of several treaties by even thinking about ordering one.

As a fellow enthusiast I want five.

>>48025521
Good analysis there. The Midas Range offers many good things.

However, I am of the belief we should actually attempt the mission from Dvorak. Bad Times are coming, and I want the information about the heavy-mech system Sergei was piloting. There's some aberrant about the capabilities of a mech like that, and if a group is out there with the tech base to build more of 'em then I want to find out where they are.

And who they are.

And /why/.
>>
>>48027855
We taking two missions this time around right? How is that going affect command on the ground? Have temporary platoon leaders if we don't have a CO?

Do we have any extra intel for the Guye Co. Industrial Sabotage? How many targets are we being asked to destroy?

What, you offering? Shiny badge in it for ya.

>>48028367
I'll do it since I saw just what the Cognis can do. But, I much rather be on that movie shoot I mean be in a movie and visit the Exclusion Zone all while getting paid.
>>
>>48027855
"Are you sure? I mean, as far as I know, we are not in an IMMEDIATE threat, so I don't think we need to force ourselves against this shiny guyco mechs. And fighting weaker enemies might give us some training that we could surely need after such a break. Not to mwntion that this might get us some favor from locals, and a base if we succed."
>>
>>48028914
Hey, this is a democracy. I was stating my opinion and you get yours. Sending a squad to take the base is a good mission, and I think we should do it.

So it's good to hear the opinion of the people, at least until you all start having stupid opinions and I over-rule you via fiat. The days of despotic terror is yet to come.

I imagine DVORAK can wait. He needs the building sabotaged, but did not tell us why.

If we take the Midian Range, we get out dust shaken out of the camel-mechs, and we can still get the GuyCo facility.

I would prefer it if we did steal enriched Uranium. I know Irving pays well, but we all know he's an armsdealer. I'm happy buying from him, but I'm not happy helping him get uranium for his customers. That's three miles and a suit-case from just nuking a city on our own.
>>
>>48028977
"U-um, I-I don't h-have much in the way of ranged combat, or combat experience really, s-so VTOLs might be d-difficult for me to deal with in my f-first engaegement, b-but I wouldn't be alone. I-I will follow your leads..."
>>
>>48028977
"Well sir, we're currently running missions in rotation, right? That being the case it should be possible for us newbies to get our eye in while capturing this base while some more experienced pilots take one of the tougher missions.

The base seems like a no-brainer, minimal expected resistance, good payoff and no chance to piss off anyone important (and vindictive.

As for the rest, I can't help but want to know more about this Cognis mech. There's something going on here and don't like the thought of operating in the dark, though I defer to you guys on which of those missions is the best idea."
>>
>>48028977
"Well, I wasn't trying to do something, I was just telling you how I felt about your suggestion. Either way, at the end of the day, you're the superior, And I follow. I'm well aware of this."

>>48030203
"Judging from the talk between you two, I guess then I'll just ready up only for the warlord'd fort mission for now, because I don-t know where the hell everyone is and we need more time for people to show up."
>>
I know I missed the twiter poll but /QST/ might be the better choice since it moves so slowly.
>>
>>48034908
Fair point.

But I think /tg is our ancestral home? Maybe Cognis will reconsider.
>>
>>48034908
I do like the the set up on /qst but the the three day sage limit is real deal breaker for me. It's mitigated a bit by how slowly the board moves but if the board moves too slow then things could get awkward seeing as you're only allowed a maximum of three threads per author.

We'll stick to /tg until further notice.

Commander Sparebits, Mr.Kerry, nice to see you in good health. Chief, you're looking lovely this evening.
Ah, missions, with intel even? Let's have a look.
>Guye Co Industrial sabotage
A challenge, but I belive we do need more information about the Cognis and its makers. This one is top priority in my book.
>Midas Range Territory Acquisition
A secondary base of operations would be nice. Do we know anything about the current occupant?
>Destroy the YOLOs
New server variant, hmm? Well, if we don't shut them down now, I'm sure we will need to later. Unfortunately, I fear we would be outgunned in this situation. Not a profitable venture.
>Star in a Movie
How fun would that be? Low risk, high reward. Even if the payout is low, the publicity will pay it back three-fold. I'd suggest sending a veteran and a couple of our recruits, let them show that the 3C has an excellent training regiment, and even our fresh-faced rookies have the chops.
>Steal Nuclear Materials
Wealth is nice, but this seems to be the opposite of what our company is all about. Mr. Kerry, would you keep an ear to this one, let us know if and when some group is foolish enough to take the contract? We may well want to run interference, cut them off at the pass, so to speak.
>Raid on a Zanvran Naval Base
The IF has been a reliable employer in the past, but this mission seems highly risky, and with our recent discovery as to their plans, I'm not sure I'd like to work for them anymore.

Everyone knows those stories are nonsense, the Exclusion Zone today is as much a political totem as it is an actual hazard. I'm not saying there aren't real dangers, but the filming is in the Outer zone.

the new stealth mechanic means I can use the recon drone to sniff out sneaky enemies, so there's that too
>>
>>48040420
A measure - Pilot Wechuge - I would not have had to institute if you all quit insisting on piling up the pumpkin pies, the pumpkin seeds and the carved pumpkin faces into the cafeteria on every occassion.

Oh, sure, sure, the pumpkin bleeding pumpkin soup with pumpkin pies for feet and pumpking spaghetti for arms was /funny/ but I don't think the cafeta personell appreciates me panick-discharing my side-arm into their commodities. And that one one with the pumpkin head above the door way that fell when I opened it? Good lark, but the janitorial staff did not exactly appreciate cleaning up the fragmentation grenade debris nor did Mr. Kerry have much fun talking me out of showering the cafeteria in assault drones set to kill.

No pumpkin based products in the cafeteria of this base. You'll have your legumes, and you'll like 'em.

As far as being movie stars go I think you cut a dashin figure, and we send Honeypot, you and Kail on over along with our new people in tow and then all shall be well.

Indeed. With Kail here I make our unit count 11, so someone will have to sit out the Midas Range operation. We also have to divvy up assignments for stunt mech pilots since there's only five slots, though I have to agree in the strongest possible terms with the CO that anyone on that job with illegal gear should leave it at home. Good to know.

With Horst here I believe we now have 12 pilots. I reckon we should split our forces 8/4 between missions. That should give us a good chance in each, plus anyone else who shows up can still pick either one.

>>48053129
I hate how much better than the Railgun the Ion Cannon is.
Up to 36 damage, ignoring armor (not that it matters at that point) 3 chances to crit dealing enough damage to kill a component outright even without the Stilletto targeting suite, longer range, AND the GAMMA can fit two of those guns.

Funfact:
With a targeting suite and the marksman skill's called shot bonus firing two Ion cannons has a 95.33% cahnce to crit, killing a target outright.
>>
>>48055335
Maybe make it limited ammo? It blows the capacitor after two shots?
>>
>>48055335
>>48055430
Maybe it should have the heavy trait as well? It does take up four hardpoints, and it's not like the reduced speed is a big deal given the range.

>Up to 36 damage
On that note, I've been trying to wrap my head around exactly how exponential damage works. The errata wasn't super clear on the matter.
>>
>>48053415
I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. Where story is concerned world events will roll forward to an eventual conclusion. The missions you take will affect how things turn out.

>>48055335
>>48055501
>the GAMMA can fit two of those guns.
Wait a minute, that's not supposed to be possible... clearly I wasn't paying attention when assigning the hard point values.

K nerfed it so it requires 3 arm + 2 torso hardpoints AND has the heavy attribute.
>>
>>48055501
Looking back at the errata document I realize that the explanation there was outright wrong and not what I intended at all. I've since revised it.

Thank you all for the feedback so far. I'm quite a scatter brained person and no matter how much I proof read my work little errors, and poorly thought out rules still make it through.

Anyway it looks like most of the discussion, sign ups and shopping has run it's course.

Officers please assign the active pilots to the missions you wish to undertake this campaign turn. If this is not done before the thread dies I'll just post the mission and it'll be first come, first served.

As for everyone else you have till the thread dies to do any more shopping.

(Kestrel visibly starts to hyperventilate apon seeing the catalog)
"Oh. AESR. I saw them recently up in the net. Just LOOK at these things! SO SHINY! SO HIGH TECH! How do they do it!?"
isn't it physically impossible for alpha to mount the particle ripper? It has a value of 4 arm points, while alpha has 2 hardpoint values on both arms. Am I missing something?
>>
>>48056935
Whew. Good thing you cought that. I thought 'damage to the power of number of hits' was a bit screwy, given that it would make the ion cannon's max damage 512.
>>
>>48057909
Wait, hold on. So with the new rules, if I were to hit all three shots on a target with the laser on the crocodile, would each hit deal 2-4-8 damage, dealing 14 damage in total? Or is it just 2-4-4 for a total of 10?
>>
>>48058886
Lasers always hit only once but for (2^(number of hits - 1))*Weapon's Damage
So 2 or 4 or 8 for the croc's laser.
>>
>>48058886
The errata says that beam damage is counted as one single shot for armour etc purposes, each hit adding up to one bigger hit.

So max for the crocodile should be 2x2x2, making 8. Whereas it's solid ammo counterpart would do 2+2+2, for no more than 6, with each being a separate shot.

Basically, exponential damage only really kicks in at 3 shots hit or more.
>>
>>48059182
>>48056935
Raises a question to me, with the Apex linked laser, is that (2x2x2)+(2×2×2) or 2×(6).

Nah, I'm good. There's not really anything there I need. Since you guys paid for the perk that improves starting gear my mech's actually not bad, it's pretty similar to Kestral's, minus the drones. Whoa, okay, late arrival.

Which mission assignment would you prefer?
>>
>>48038626
I agree on most counts with Wechuge's analysis.

>Guye Co. Industrial Sabotage
We definitely want to do this one, and as soon as we can. While the factory isn't going anywhere, time is passing and politics is happening so the Intel might go out of date if we wait too long. I believe the previous plan was to do this one after the last mission we did, so now.

>Midas Range Territory Acquisition
A great way to solidify our little army with somewhere away from prying eyes. Despite the terrain, the lack of many tough enemy mechs means this could be a decent starter for recruits, so long as there's at least one vet herding them.

>Destroy the YOLOs
A more standard mission, with recovery and support from allies. Unless they're paying well however, would suggest our time is better spent elsewhere. I rank it a better choice than any of the next ones though...

>Star in a Movie
I intensely distrust "easy money". Fundamentally, the Exclusion Zone is such for more than just political reasons: it's a radioactive hellhole filled with mutants. Do we know if they even have permission from the Peacekeepers to film there?

>Steal Nuclear Materials
Are you joking? I will accept "morally questionable" on my resume for sure (we do spend most of our time shooting people), but this is beyond the pail. I would be far happier if we leaked this intel to the peacekeepers.

>Raid on a Zanvran Naval Base
A fast and hard strike, but from what I remember the company was rather divided on whether or not to even support the IF. This isn't a mission for rookies, and has alot that could go wrong with it. Presumably it comes with a good payout.
>>
>>48079368
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but we've already decided on our missions for the current campaign turn and allocated personnel between them, so unless you fancy attacking Guye Co. all by yourself you'll have to come along on either the Midas Range mission or the movie shoot, or pass on taking part in either. Judging by your opinion of the mission I assume you'd go to Midas. Unless you feel the stunt crew could use an extra hand in case there's exclusion zone trouble?

>>48087904
Too late now.

>>48070841
What I think is that we're walking around in the darkness of other people's malign intentions, and the international cabals that always seek power seek it still.

I think we should put DVORAK's mission next on the agenda, after we've gathered our wits and re-organized.

In fact, we're doing that now.

I need 9 other people to sort this mess out with me. We're sabotaging Guye Co. Industrial manufactoring plant. Giant ,punchy mechs, vehicles and ornery GuyeCo employees.

That's the mission we're doing after this Nollywood and Midas runs.

Which one of you Pilots are savvy enough to not be pawns on the internationl table of backroom conspiracies?
>>
>>48091413
If you're attacking Guye Co, I think you'll love having a hacker around. Count me in.
>>
>>48091413
Count me in. We need to get to the bottom of whatever is really going on in this conflict, lest we end up a patsy for some hidden power, or obsoleted by IF peacekeepers.

I'm certainly not doing it so I can scrounge the cash to buy more robot parts. No siree.

On a wholly unrelated note, are there any plans to purchase further licenses?
>>
>>48092092
Yeah, we'll probably buy Apex and/or LHI sooner than later. And if we impress senpai enough, maybe AESR will notice us, and will want us to field test their stuff.

The main question is : LHI or Apex first ?
>>
>>48092117
I'm in favour of Apex, their catalogue is a bit more varied in terms of capabilities, rather than the mostly defence specialised LHI and they have some really nice utility gear.

I admit to probably being somewhat biased though, I've become somewhat enamoured with the concept of owning a shiny new Summit, and I would do unspeakable things with that heavy laser module.
>>
>>48092210
I feel you, I need an advanced ECM for a personal project.
>>
>>48092239
>personal project
Ditto. I saw a specialisation as yet unfilled in the 3C and it's my hope to one day fill it.

All I need is an Apex license and about 100 or so credits in liquid assets...

Hey, it's a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll...
>>
>>48091413
Well now, I've been prioritizing that mission from the start, it would be a bit hypocritical of me not to join, wouldn't it?
That, and I got my share of being a political chess-piece back home in Wessen Nevik.

>>48092117
As an artillery specialist, my vote will be going to LHI, but Apex does have a lovely line-up, so I won't be put out if we choose to go with them next. As for AESR, I think it will be a while yet before we have the cred to even consider them as an option.
>>
>>48092117
Did we get the Advanced Warfare training yet?
If no we should stop putting that off.
After that I'd prefer LHI over Apex because they have heavy hitting artillery and tough-as-nails mechs as opposed to Apex's regular everyday normal mechs with regular everyday normal guns that deal a little more damage.
I'm grumpy because railguns are meh tier
>>
>>48093291
It's not immediately obvious
but yes

The Chief has indeed given us access to extra lessons, so you have all the Advanced Warfare you could want.
>>
>>48093291
>regular everyday normal guns that deal a little more damage.
You realise those heavy lasers can potentially do 12 damage a pop? It's no ion cannon, but it's not too shabby.
>>
>>48091413
I'm definitely in favor of it, though my mech load-out isn't so suited to that kind of combat. Still if you're bellow 10 mechs, another warm metal body can't hurt.
>>
>>48092210
I'd love the LHI license. I've theory-crafted a couple of blueprints that terrify me with their potential. Like this one, for a mech that can happily take on an army:

==Phalanx==
Skills: Combat Tech, System Restore, Deflection Angles

>>
>>48093708
What's the autoloader for? I don't believe any LHI weapons actually have the reload trait.
(also it's an Apex part, so you'd need that license for it too)

Seems like it might have issues with mobility. It's shell plating is ineffective outside the front arc, and having both that and the main gun would reduce its speed to 3 (provided that stacks, which I'm unsure about), which would make it near impossible to get into siege cannon range, or do much of anything really. It'd still take some serious effort to bring down, but it likely also wouldn't really be necessary to do so when you could play keep away.

Also, you seem to have a spare left arm slot. If I was going for max defence I guess I'd move one drone there and put an anti-missile system or a guidance scrambler or something where it used to be.
>>
>>48094426
I guess that would work. You'd only be able to pull the smoke trick twice though.

>>48093708
Oh, and I forgot this, but the 5 armour from the shell/skill doesn't stack with the reactive armour. Cognis mentioned at some point that you use the highest value for defence, so it would be 9 until the ammo runs out, then 5. Not that there's many weapons for which that's relevant, but I thought you should know.

Since I'm sitting here on my armchair criticising your theory-craft, I may as well share my own design, meant to constantly fire high power lasers and extract the most out of them.

The autoloader is for all mechs, so it's okay. And notice the heavy duty servos on the legs, they'll negate all the heavy penalties, allowing the mech to move at it's normal speed.

Also, if I remember correctly, most LHI weapons have the reload attribute, but I say that off the top of my head, so I light be wrong. And yeah, Heavy modifiers to movement do stack, it can get pretty nasty.

Your cockpits have been fitted with the necessary NBC filters but in the unlikely event you have to bail out, make sure your hazmat suit is properly sealed and you should be fine. The area is relatively safe, no known pirate groups operate out of it and meteorological has confirmed no rad storms for the next three days. Heavy Duty Servos cancel all speed penalties, so speed remains at 4. It would probably take the first couple of actions to just run/waddle at max speed toward the enemy.

Ok, it's DEFINITELY changed since I designed these ones. A couple of people managed to buy autoloaders from the blackmarket before, so I considered it a component that we had limited access to.

oh hey, the thread is still up. and I just happened to remember what I wanted to talk about. multiple questions inbound.

is it possible to...
-detect enemy mech equipment loadouts? or if it isn't, can it be revealed with the scan action?
-not use up the special ammo if the weapon with said ammo was not used in the mission?(ex, equipped defective missiles but did not use any missile weapons during mission)
-dual wield tac shield? or melee with it?
-designate targets for drones that hasn't been commanded with the drone control action and is overwatching for it's default action?

what happenes if:
-a mech suffering multiple hack effects do the recovery action? are all effects removed?
-a unit with the ECCM pod hack a enemy with an ECCM pod? will the counter-hack continue infinitely until both parties become a hunk of junk?
>>
>>48105157
>-dual wield tac shield
I at least could tell you that while you could do this there wouldn't be any point. Damage resistance bonuses (except the +1 from deflection angles) don't stack, you just default to the highest one.

>-a unit with the ECCM pod hack a enemy with an ECCM pod
I believe the pod only triggers upon a failed hacking attempt.
>>
>>48105157
From experience:
>detect enemy mech equipment loadouts? or if it isn't, can it be revealed with the scan action?
Mech chassis is always known from satellite coverage (and is how we distinguish everyone on the map).
Obvious stuff like guns or armour is known automatically if they're inside sensor range and line of sight (ask Cognis for details during battle).
Internals like Tac-Nets aren't so obvious. If Cognis wants to implement a "detailed scan" option, he hasn't yet.

>dual wield tac shield? or melee with it?
DR doesn't stack. The "front facing" that a Tac Shield covers is the front 3 sides of your hex, so it already covers quite alot. Remember, you can specify facing anytime during your turn: you can move, fire, then turn to face the enemy. Using a Shield like this protected me from 16hp worth of damage the first mission I did!
There are no rules for Shield-bashing yet, or other LEEEROY type moves. Though Cognis did briefly let Sparebits use his Jump Jets to land on an enemy. A Shield is designed for defence first, smashing faces is what Maces are for.

>designate targets for drones that hasn't been commanded with the drone control action and is overwatching for it's default action?
I use drones with a Tac-Net Hub to do this exact thing. All you have to do is issue the correct orders to the drones: they can't be complicated, but can be precise. My base tends to be: "Overwatch fire missile against nearest locked-on enemy."

Remember: you can only share Target Locks through a Tac-Net Hub (or by being a Recon Drone, but that's personal). If one person has a Hub (me), then everyone in range (which is 16 for mine) can share. So if you get a lock, then everyone gets the bonus to hit, including auto-hitting missiles.

>a mech suffering multiple hack effects do the recovery action?
It recovers all EMP and Hacking results. Basically represents "turning it off and on again".
>>
>>48105157
>a unit with the ECCM pod hack a enemy with an ECCM pod?
ECCM counter-hacks if they fail to get through. So it'll bounce back and forth until someone succeeds and the other guy gets screwed.
>>
>>48105342
Glad I'm not the only one who sees the value of a Tac-Net hub. As soon as payday hits I plan to get one installed as soon as possible.
>>
>>48105462
I'm pretty sure someone else has one as well. Maybe Sparebits (our glorious leader) or Hetros (our second in command), but I can't remember who.

You really don't need more than one per mission though. Mine covers all friendlies within 16 hexes, which is most of a map, and I never drop out of stealth so the chance of it going down is pretty low. Save your cash for some missiles to use it with!
>>
>>48105527

You only have to pay for ammo for weapons and equipment that have the limited ammo trait (the little magazine symbol with a number in it). This includes all missiles, as well as some guns, like the Wimp's bullet hose as well as stuff like chaff, surge protectors and reactive armour.

I couldn't tell you the actual cost, though Cognis deducts repair and rearmament expenses automatically after each mission. It's usually not all that much compared to the pay out, just something to keep in mind.

Replacing destroyed drones is quite expensive though.

thanks.

anyone know how it works for the ammo thing?
>>
>>48106038
>>48105963
Replacement of all the ammunition used in combat is deducted from repair and rearm costs, which is a flate rate based on your mech's total value. Things with the magazine symbol are merely limited in use while deployed. It is somewhat true that equipment of limited ammo is more expensive than a comparable piece of gear with "unlimited" use, so the rearm does cost slightly more.

I should note, the R&R fee happens regardless of equipment used or damage received. Also, it's not the same as the cost of recovering a wrecked mech, which is an optional (and sometimes impossible) thing.
Also, destroyed drones have a separate and optional cost.
>>
>>48106135

Good to know. You wouldn't happen you know what the rate is?
>>

>not use up the special ammo if the weapon with said ammo was not used in the mission?(ex, equipped defective missiles but did not use any missile weapons during mission)
does anyone know whether if this is true or not?
I want to know, since my plans for future purchase depends on it.
>>
>>48107463
If you stock-pile it and don't use it, it is not used.

You opt to equip your mech with your flagrantly expensive mega-murder munitions before embarking, then note it as you go along.
>>
>>48107463
>>48107812
The descriptor states that it lasts for the duration of a mission, so presumably if you actually equip it then you lose it whether or not you use it. And you can buy and stock as much as you want, see Alice, who has several HV rounds plus her 'for war crimes please break glass' ammo from the last round of black market gear.
>>
>>48107463
Bump for the night.

If you equip specialist ammunition and deploy to a mission it is expended whether you fire a shot or not.

If Horst doesn't post his mission loadout by the time I wake up and check this thread in 10 or so hours I'll be starting the mission and he'll just have to deploy late.

What time zone are you operating on? I ask because I might have trouble getting orders in depending on that and when the game is run. I thought I might have been alright judging by the archives, but depending on circumstances I may need someone to bot me for a bit.
>>
>>48106764
I picked a loadout from an archived mission, did a some quick maths and compared it to the r&r cost and this looks about right. Mech value about 44, r&r cost 8. So yeah, 20%, give or take.
>>
>>48108232
We normally have ~24 hours to get our orders in. If all the orders are in before then Command may process the turn early.
>>
>>48111238
Just from memory most of the missions in the archive lasted something like 2 or three days. That being said, it's manageable, I just wanted to avoid missing deployment or something.

Just so you know, defence rating and damage reduction are different things (though they have the same acronym, which be confusing.

Your Komodo has 8 defence rating (need to roll over 8 on a d20 to hit), but the front arc has 2 damage reduction (meaning all damage taken from the front arc is reduced by 2 points, unless the attack has the penetrator trait).

So that attack actually did 12 damage, but your shield soaked up a bit,

Commander Joseph "Sparebits" Merein sat at his desk and stared at a giant pumpkin. It's menacing smooth, slightly ribbed orange skin stared back at him from the tactical display. He was vaguely aware of a faint burning in his eyes in that far off-space his body occupied since he had not blinked in a while. Couldn't. The pumpkin would pounce the moment he closed his eyes.

His people were fine. They were fighting a giant pumpkin but they were fine. The murderous mad-kaus represented on-screen by a series of round blops closed in and mostly stopped moving after copious amounts of firepower was poured into them, but - but - that was clearly a decoy. Any minute now the ponderous pumpkin pillager would rise from its slumber and with tentacles of squash reach towards his fragile, human crew and then it would eat their brains.

Pumpkins did that. Joseph knew it in his heart.

He'd seen it happen.

Maybe.

His memories were fuzzy about the specifics, and three years of substances specifically formulated to turn the part of the brain that stored those particular memories into so much mush wasn't helping.

But he knew pumpkins were bad. Because ... they ... were. He shook his head, gently, without breaking eye-contact with the damned digitally-displayed gourd.

I don't think that's how linked weapons work. Everytime we've been firing linked mech-pistols, you just fire all the shots at once. So for twin Powerfists, you roll two attacks but it only takes one action. Then the Extra Punching Arms roll two more attacks, and take no actions at all. So you should have rolled four dice total.

The window closed once we decided on this round of missions but I talked to Cognis and he generously allowed for it to be available in the next round. It's going to be our last chance for this and I'm going to vote for it because we did put at least a little investment into getting it on the table in the first place.)

Tragedy had taken initiative and went out into the field to gather what intelligence she could to keep the Guye Co. job from going stale. It wasn't much but it kept the window from closing completely.

Nice one Tragedy!

What we really need, is to be able to do field enough pilots for three missions each round.
One small easier one, like this movie, so any new Recruits can get some experience in the field.
One large dangerous public one for cash.
And one black-ops for side quests and actually investigating the plot.

Just, y'know, be mindful of which country it's in. It's not unheard of for people in Murika to carry around anti-mech weaponry for 'personal defence'. If we're lucky RPGs are the worst we'll see.

I think you're forgetting to count Bloodhawk (>>48118282), who seems to think a week of R&R means his contract is annulled, or the Corps is disbanded, or something.
>>48141160
(Shit, I had forgotten that.)

Also, I would really like if we could bring the full weight of the 3C to bear against the GuyeCo site, but the overhead just isn't there.

It's Bludhawk

I do want I want rookie, but I really wanna beat the shit outta that big guy...

"Camels, pull back into more defensive position we're all strung out here, priority is to defend the civilians, not kill animals, form a defensive line and pummel any incomings up with heavy fire."

Horst is very busy, command can feel free to bot me of I slow up the turn

Heh heh, nice. She looks cute being all sneaky like that.

Just so you all know the Guye Co. Industrial Sabotage is not a black operation. Mercs run missions like that all the time.

Looks like we've reached our sage limit. For this thread. The mission will continue in a new thread.

Damn straight you are Pilot. I don't throw away perfectly capable officers just because they go on a bit of a vacation.

You're welcome back any time.

Minor error I just noticed. Decoy drones are flight type, right? Then they should have a jump icon in the equipment list.
>>
>>48143175
Thanks. I've updated the master equipment file. The error should be gone the next time I post the equipment stat card.

Before the thread dies, just a simple reminder.

It's nice that you run this game, Cognis - thanks.

What he said.

Though at present Cognis is conked out on the other side of the planet and will likely miss this post.
