You are Kusajishi Riku, a shinigami and Captain of the Seireitei Court Guard's Ninth Division. You, as well as the other Captains like you, are far more to the Seireitei than simply its most powerful thirteen fighters. Each Captain is expected to guide and protect their Division over decades or even centuries, ensuring that their subordinates are allowed to grow and to perform to the best of their abilities. They also end up deeply woven into the social and cultural fabric of the Seireitei, shaping the general attitudes and unique style of their own unit, and often becoming widely popular figures outside of it.

It comes as disturbing news then that someone has been plotting to replace the Captains with near-identical clones, or reigai. You and Yoruichi met and soundly defeated your own respective reigai, and have recently identified the first Captain to have definitely been replaced when you noticed something off about Captain Ukitake. After bringing this news to Captain Kyōraku, the three of you decided to try and subtly counteract the unfolding plot by finding which officers have already been replaced and freeing them. This would even the odds when the time finally comes for a direct confrontation.

Shunsui rearranges the paperwork on his desk, getting ready to leave when Nanao interrupts with a knock at the door. “Am I interrupting?”

“Not at all,” Shunsui replies with a tired smile. “I'm actually glad you're here.”

As the Lieutenant enters the room however, you notice she is wearing a familiar-looking silver bracelet.

“That's a nice-looking bracelet, Nanao,” you tell her with a glare. “You get that from someone in Thirteenth Division, like Captain Ukitake?”

Knowing that the jig is up, reigai-Nanao grins smugly at you and your fellow Captains. “It's nice that you like them. You're about to see a lot more like it very soon...”

As if to punctuate her statement, a massive surge of reiatsu washes over you, all of it familiar and all of it originating from more or less the same spot within the Seireitei. Unohana... Renji... Komamura... Little Bee... Byakuya... each of them a match for the originals, but all of them clearly belonging to their respective reigai.

“It's too late to make preparations, Captain Kusajishi, Captain Shihōin, Captain Kyōraku. It has already begun.”

Even as the fake Ise Nanao raises her arm to cast a kidō at you, Hadō #33 if you're not mistaken, you pounce. If she thought she was standing at a safe distance to make that sort of attack then it must come as a shock when the hilt of your sword slams into her wrist, burying itself deep into the soft connective tissue between the two bones of her forearm, and pushes her hand up and out of line. Even as her brain processes the movement and she realizes what's happened you turn your wrist and push down on the spine of Tenkotsuki's blade with your left hand, severing the reigai's arm at the shoulder.

Grimacing as she works through the pain reigai-Nanao tries to bring her left arm up to finish releasing the spell, only to find Shunsui's hand grasping her wrist. The Captain glances down at her with an odd mixture of pity and anger in his eyes: pity for the copy that so closely resembles someone he cares about, but anger at the possible fate of the original Nanao.

“Now, little Nanao,” he tells her calmly, “even if you're not my Nanao I'd rather not see Lady Riku here cut off the rest of your limbs.

The reigai glares at 'her' Captain, giving one furtive tug to try and release her arm before realizing that escape from this situation is utterly impossible. Her lips spread as her mouth opens slowly as if she's about to whisper something to the two of you...

… only to find Yoruichi's fingers jammed into it, firmly grasping her tongue between them. A tiny trickle of blood drips from Yoruichi's thumb, betraying the reigai's intentions.

“You don't want to do that,” your wife quietly chastises reigai-Nanao, “and I don't think any of us wanna see it. Yeah, you hear about it all the time in old romance novels, but what they never tell you is it takes a while to bleed to death from a severed lingual artery.”

“Not pleasant.”

“Any ideas, Shunsui?” you ask, drawing a stare from the reigai.

Your fellow Captain nods, a grim smile tugging at his lips. “I do believe I'll be needed here, Lady Riku. I'll find out what this one knows.”

The reigai's eyes widen, darting back to Shunsui as he continues. “If my little Nanao is in danger, then it's become my responsibility. Ukitake usually rests in his quarters, the Ugendō, when he's taken ill. They are protected by a barrier that shields the surroundings from his reiatsu, which means you'll have to dispel that barrier. Lady Yoruichi, I believe that sort of thing is one of your specialties?”

Yoruichi nods, withdrawing her fingers from reigai-Nanao's mouth. “I can take care of it, assuming the reigai Captains let us get there.”

“Good,” Shunsui nods. “I can feel that most of them are dividing off to find their mirrors, probably to try and confuse us. Can't engage as easily if you can't tell at a glance who the impostor is.”

“Yours and Ukitake's aren't,” you observe, extending your senses towards the two reigai as they dash through the Seireitei's alleys. “Get the information you need quick, Shunsui. Those two are heading straight for the First Division.”

“Then you'd better get going,” Shunsui insists, glaring down at the reigai of his Lieutennt. “We'll be just fine here, won't we?”

After exchanging a glance with Yoruichi to confirm that it's really okay to leave Shunsui like this, you leave him to it. Yoruichi shuts the door to his office behind you.

“I've never seen the man that serious,” she admits, sparing a glance over her shoulder. “And I didn't expect the reigai to be that committed to keeping secrets from him. That... isn't going to be easy.”

On your way to the 13th Division barracks, you keep your senses attuned to your surroundings. It's obvious that several sets of Captains have begun fighting already: Komamura, Byakuya, and Hitsugaya most noticeable among them. It's impossible to tell them apart from their copies at this distance though, so you have no idea how their battles are going. Interestingly, there are two spiritual powers that are absent from the brawls erupting all across the Seireitei: the reigai for Gin and Kaoru. There must be some plan to that, you figure... something else to deal with later.

You're so focused on those fights however that you miss the one heading your way until it's nearly too late.

“Riku! Don't zone out!” Yoruichi snaps, jinking to the left with a shunpo as you sense a massive reiatsu surging towards you. For your part you manage to evade just in time to watch Kenpachi's nameless sword slice through the afterimage you left for him. For a moment it seems he seems convinced he hit you, until he frowns when the image disappears.

“So close,” he scoffs, glaring at you over his shoulder with his uncovered eye. “Still, lucky me... I get to carve up two of the people I've wanted to fight for ages!”

Kenpachi lets loose a vicious laugh as he charges you with a flat thrust you dodge easily to his blind side, only to be forced to parry as he reaches forward with his left hand and bends the thrust into a slash with a massive second effort. The force of the strike knocks you back, and you only just manage to keep your footing by sliding across a cushion of reiatsu.

“Seems like he's not gonna let us by without a fight,” Yoruichi observes, drawing her pair of butterflies from the sheath across her back.

Kenpachi takes a low stance with his right shoulder towards you and Yoruichi and his blade held parallel to the ground... from this position you not only can't see his sword clearly but his left wrist is obscured as well. You wouldn't put it past the real Kenpachi to come after the strongest Captains he could find without even having a clear idea of how to distinguish them from the real deal, and to attack them without hesitation anyway, so you can't say for sure that this isn't him.

“Keep your eyes on his left wrist,” you mutter to Yoruichi. “Let's try and confirm who we're dealing with.”

“Got it,” Yoruichi nods, understanding your concerns about this Kenpachi's identity. “You don't mind if I have to get a little rough with him, right?”

“He's a big guy,” you shrug. “He can probably take it.”

With a powerful bellow Kenpachi charges again, and Yoruichi meets him halfway with a shunpo of her own as you move right to flank them. Kenpachi sees what you're doing and is careful to defend that side more heavily, which at first makes it hard to catch a clear glimpse of his wrist, and it's obvious that Yoruichi is too focused on his attacks to really notice what he's wearing.

Kenpachi's blows are merciless, his powerful muscles lending each swing a speed you wouldn't have thought possible based on your previous matches against him. And more surprising still is the fact that his technique is actually recognizable as kenjutsu. Unrefined of course, and rather simplistic, but there's nothing technically wrong with it.

Next to Yoruichi however it's like a child playing with a stick, as she holds little back against Kenpachi. She keeps to an even lower stance than his, employing the powerful footwork and sweeping kicks of Heihuquan kung fu with the intricate, flowing bladework of Wing Chun. A powerful overhand swing of Kenpachi's sword is deftly deflected by one of Yoruichis stout swords, then smacked aside in a sharp parry from the other that allows the first to lash out towards her foe's chest, only to be parried by Kenpachi's hilt. Even as she withdraws her blades Yoruichi's left leg slams into Kenpachi's ribs, sending him crashing to a nearby rooftop where he lands on his feet.

A series of stabs and short slashes either miss as Kenpachi dodges them, or else connect with his arms and shoulders as he struggles to land a decisive blow. But Yoruichi's footwork keeps her one step ahead of Kenpachi's attempts, all the while punishing his slow footwork with low kicks to the knees and ankles that land with audible thumps.

“I can't tell!” you shout to Yoruichi, the speed of the exchanges and the debris in the air making it extremely difficult to catch a glimpse of Kenpachi's wrist.

>You'll have to bind him in place yourself if you want to figure out who he is, this is going nowhere.

“This is going nowhere,” you growl as Yoruichi fends off another attack from Kenpachi, leaving behind a series of shallow slashes across his right arm and chest in exchange.

“Hey, Zaraki!” you bellow, catching the attention of both fighters. When Zaraki stops you glance down at his left wrist to find it unadorned... that moron! It really was the real one! “Go fight the other Kenpachi already, we don't have time for your shit right now!”

“And how am I supposed to do that!?” he bellows back, resting his sword across one shoulder.

Your eye twitches involuntarily at the realization that he still can't sense reiatsu for shit after all these years. “He'll be the other moron who's separated from the rest,” you grumble, “because he'll have gotten just as lost as you, idiot!”

The corners of Zaraki's mouth turn upwards into a predatory grin. “Hey, that's not half bad! Alright, you clone piece of shit, let's see how you fight!”

With a long, drawn-out cry of “fight me!”, the real Zaraki charges off into the Seireitei... in the complete wrong direction.

“He does realize that he won't be able to find his copy without sensing for him, right?” Yoruichi wonders as she rejoins you at your side, sheathing her swords in a single fluid movement.

You shake your head. “I give it about ten minutes before he figures it out. By then we'll be long gone.”

“You little devil!” Yoruichi smirks.

“You feel that, right?” Yoruichi asks, waving you to a halt atop a tiled roof very close by to your own Division's grounds. “Can you sense where they're fighting?”

You nod sternly. “The reigai are pushing them closer in towards the execution ground. Why would they be doing that when they have the advantage in single combat? Unless...”

“Unless they mean to tag out,” Yoruichi surmises. “If we're packed in tight they can take advantage of any openings, and most shinigami are too absorbed in a single-combat mentality to counter it. If they manage it we're in trouble.”

“Most shinigami won't cooperate willingly,” you think aloud, “and they don't train for it. Exception being Captains and their Lieutenants, and certain pairings of Captains with especially close ties.”

“Right,” Yoruichi agrees. “It's those natural groupings we need to take advantage of.”

“Prohibit, Tenkotsuki,” you breathe, feeling your reiatsu swell as your zanpakuto releases.

Tenkotsuki's voice greets you in your mind. “What is it you require of me, my dear Riku?”

“Please help me contact a few people and remain in contact with them,” you request politely, flicking the scribes of Tenteikura downward and allowing them to etch the familiar, patternless lines up the length of your arm. “Gin. Rangiku. Kai. Mirai. Rukia.”

“Done,” Tenkotsuki informs you. “You may address them when ready.”

“We're under attack,” you tell them simply. “Our enemy means to corral us into a smaller area, where they can tag out against our Captains and overwhelm us while we're too focused on our own clones to notice anything else. Gin, you use Shinsō the same way: attack any reigai who try and jump one of our allies. Rangiku, I want you to use Haineko to cover for Gin while he's doing that. Make sure to cover both your openings.”

“Got it, Captain!” Rangiku replies breathlessly. You can tell from here she's been fighting a gaggle of Lieutenant-class reigai, including her own.

“I feel like you're a little quick ta make me out as the sneaky bastard,” Gin observes playfully. “But I suppose I have no one ta blame but myself in the end. It is after all the role I seem ta choose for myself.”

“Mirai, Kai,” you continue, addressing your Commandos. “You two serve a similar role. Play at sniping while Rukia covers you with her zanpakuto's ice attacks.”

“Yes, ma'am!” three replies come back immediately as your commandos move to carry out your orders.

“Not at all, Lady Yoruichi!” Suì Fēng lies with a grunt of effort, clearly straining against her own opponent. “I take it you have an order?”

“Get over towards the Ninth's Commandos, I want you to counterattack any reigai who tries to leave their own fight to attack a vulnerable Captain. Keep hidden, and have your new Lieutenant watch your back. Got it?”

“Right away, ma'am!” Little Bee replies enthusiastically. You can feel her disengage from her opponent and make a break for where the other Captains are slowly being pressed. Speaking of which, several of what you presume to be your "real" peers seem to be in rather ragged condition already after having been taken off-guard by the differences between their own abilities and demeanor and those of their clones.

When you reach the Ninth Division's barracks, you find a massive number of bodies lying strewn all about the grounds. Some of them sadly wear the sleeveless uniform of your own Division, while a disturbing number wear plain shihakusho with no obvious markings aside from yellow ribbons tied to their wrists.

“The hell are these?” Yoruichi asks, flipping over one of the face-down bodies to find plain, almost doll-like facial features. “Riku, I think these might not be real spiritual bodies!”

“They came in a wave,” one of your fireteam leaders explains, overhearing your wife's discovery. “Some of 'em could jump higher than any of us, and kicked like mules on steroids. Others could breathe fire, or punch a man in half at the waist with one hand. They went down under sustained fire, but not before we suffered casualties of our own.”

“These are mod-souls in generic gigai,” Yoruichi concludes grimly, as you hear Tenkotsuki using Tenteikura to spread the news, “part of the same invasion I'd bet. Who the hell has that level of resources?”

“I don't know,” you admit, “but we're definitely killing them after this. Is the detention center clear?”

Your subordinate nods once. “Yes, ma'am. None of the invaders got that far.”

“Good.”

With Yoruichi following close behind, you kick down the door to the Ninth Division's jail block and step across it as it crashes to the floor. You pass by Menoly's cell, where the blonde arrancar sits in quiet thought as if trying her hardest to ignore your entrance, and soon reach Bambietta's cell.

The one-armed Sternritter glances up at you. “I take it this isn't a social call?”

“I'll be honest with you, we're in some serious shit,” you admit to her. “My zanpakuto's helping me coordinate a response to these impostor officers, but it's a narrow thing so far. We need all the help we can get, especially in case the reigai figure out I'm helping call the shots.”

“Because trust has to be earned,” you tell her sternly, unlocking her door. “And I'm giving you the chance to earn mine now. You want my help saving your fellow Sternritter from themselves? You want us to help the quincy survive?”

“Demonstrate your sincerity, and follow my lead. Show me the kind of person you can be.”

Your fingertips rest lightly against the restraining collar around her neck, meeting her gaze and holding it resolutely. You can practically feel the anticipation of those around you: even Menoly is waiting to hear what the Sternritter's response will be.

“I've never liked shinigami,” she replies carefully, kneeling at your feet and gently inclining her head, “and my pride may mean that'll never change. But if it's for the future of the quincy I'll get on all fours and bark like a dog if you order it. Just... don't expect me to enjoy it.”

“I won't,” you reassure her, removing the collar from her neck. “Just stick to hitting the ones with the silver bracelets, or else the ones I tell you to blast. And don't use your Vollständig, either. Too much risk of collateral.”

“Well you're certainly not asking much,” she scoffs, before catching Yoruichi's glare and staring back down at the floor behind you. “Like I said I'll follow your orders, just don't be surprised if I bitch about it a little.”

“Bitching is fine,” you agree, “so long as you deliver.”

“You point, I'll bring the boom,” Bambietta nods before rising to her feet. “Where do we start, Captain?”

Seems like a reasonable reaction from Bambs, success or no. It's not like she'll metaphorically drop her panties after a few interactions like a "love interest" in a generic harem anime.

Also, I'm surprised an attempt to get our Valley access back is not among the options, even when a Dangai trip afterwards is feasible here. Is it really that strong of an obstacle?

Well you gotta keep in mind that the man behind the Clone attack is an expert in Dangai Manipulation. Also, Apacci is working with Kukkaku on getting a solution to brute force their way through the blockade and make a way into the Valley. “Let's get to work on Ukitake, then join up with the Head Captain,” you suggest, leading your trio out through the empty doorframe. “That worries me.”

“I haven't sensed a few Captains' clones yet,” Yoruichi observes, “so as far-fetched as it seems you may have a point.”

Your trip to the Ugendō is itself uneventful, though you can tell that the teams of Captain and Lieutenant level fighters you put together are having a tough go of it. You also sense in the distance that Yamamoto's reiatsu is weakening, which is confusing since he should be able to beat Ukitake and Kyōraku fairly easily if none of them are using Bankai. Which you'd have felt for certain, had any of them used it. You're pretty sure even Zaraki and his equally insensate clone would be know if that had happened.

“I know,” Yoruichi nods in agreement. “We have to hurry. I think I know what must be going on over there, and it's not good.”

“The hell are you talking about?” Bambietta demands. “How could you already know what's goin' on over there?”

“Because Unohana's one of the reigai who I haven't sensed yet,” Yoruichi explains as you all come to a stop at Ukitake's quarters.

Your wife takes the lead, pressing her palms against the door. “It's a strong barrier alright, and it's active. Ukitake's probably inside.”

After a few moments however Yoruichi takes a step back, staring at the walls. “That's odd. My barrier-breaking kidō isn't working the way it should.”

“Kaoru,” you mutter. “This must be why her reigai's been held in reserve, she's using its Bankai to give her fellow reigai a leg up in terms of their kidō abilities, creating a mismatch.”

“So that's why my ears hurt,” Bambi complains, scratching at the side of her head. “She must be controlling the reishi vibrations to fuck with spells. Amplify some, weaken others.”

“You knew about that?” your wife demands.

“I didn't think anything of it at first,” Bambi admits. “I kinda figured your guys' side was doing it. What do I know about you and your damned copies, I can't tell either!”

“Tenkotsuki, you always have an idea. What would you suggest this time?”

There's a thoughtful pause as your zanpakuto considers the options. “Use our Bankai. Any other kidō technique could be weakened to the point of meaninglessness, and the outpouring of shinreiryoku would take all of the reigai's focus and effort to hold back. Or, at worst, neither side will be able to use kidō.”

“Either way, the playing field is leveled. The only cost is that doing this and maintaining Tenteikura will demand my entire focus. I will not be able to assist you in battle while my hands are tied thus.”

“Which do you think is more likely?” you ask.

“I believe she will choose the stalemate where your offensive power is kept in check.”

You turn to your companions to explain what you're about to do, and warn Bambietta that it's not going to be comfortable. The sensation of shinreiryoku literally severing her control over reishi will probably affect her more than most.

“Bankai: Higeki no Ojō.”

Your uniform swiftly gains several layers, mostly vibrant reds and golds and greens to reflect the coming change in season, underneath your Captain's haori. There is a brief moment where you lose your ability to sense reiatsu, but it swiftly returns as reigai-Kaoru does exactly as Tenkotsuki predicted and moves to suppress your shinreiryoku. You can feel that in the short time were all kidō in the Seireitei was suppressed due to your power three things happened: good news is a weakened Yamamoto got in a good shot against reigai-Ukitake, and Apacci just arrived through the western gate.

Bad news is that one Hitsugaya has been badly wounded, and given the sudden appearance of not one but three Lieutenant Hinamoris near their battle you can guess which one it was that got the worst of it.

“Try now,” you tell your wife before noticing Bambietta staring. “What, like what you see over here?”

“Actually yeah,” Bambi admits. “Your ability's creepy, but that kimono's really pretty.”

“Gin, I need you to track down Kaoru's reigai and kill it,” you announce through the Tenteikura.

“Got it,” Gin replies, and you can feel his reiatus and Rangiku's heading away from the rest of the embattled officers. “I take it that's why our kidō ain't workin'?”

“Should be fine for now,” you tell him. “See to it reigai-Kaoru doesn't get the chance to fuck that up. And see if you can't link with Apacci too, Rangiku.”

“Gotcha!” Yoruichi declares as the barrier dissipates.

From within, Captain Ukitake emerges blinking into the sun. “What's happening, Riku? Why's that quincy with you?”

“I see,” Ukitake frowns, gazing off in the direction where Hitsugaya's been downed. “It seems things have gotten a little out of hand. But where will the two of you be going?”

“To bail out the Head Captain,” you reply.

“He shouldn't need it,” Ukitake tells you, shaking his head. “But you seem to have decided otherwise.”

“I believe you and Shunsui's clones are being healed by Unohana's clone,” Yoruichi explains to your fellow Captain. “None of them could face him alone, but between your abilities and Shunsui's you may be able to wear him down with proper healing support.”

“Well then, I wish you both the best of luck,” he nods, before glancing at the one-armed Sternritter. “As for the other thing, I wish to discuss it with you when all this is over, Lady Riku. So until then, try to avoid dying.”

“That's usually the idea,” you shrug.

“What crawled up his ass and died?” Bambietta asks as you head away from the 13th Division and towards First. She glances briefly back over her shoulder at the departing figure of Ukitake shrinking into the distance. “You'd think I'd killed his family or something.”

“You may have,” Yoruichi reminds the Sternritter with a glare. “I think he's over-reacting, but I can also understand his concerns.”

“Ladies,” you interrupt, “let's keep it together. We can be girly and talk about our feelings later, right now we've got asses to kick and not long to kick 'em.”

“Thanks,” Yoruichi tells you quietly as she closes in at your side. “I was just about to smack the bitch outta her.”

“Hey, Riku?” Yoruichi asks you with a grin.

“Yes, wife?” you ask cheerfully in response as you draw ever-closer to the scene where reigai-Ukitake and reigai-Shunsui are engaging a tiring Yamamoto.

“You wanna try that with me?” she asks.

You laugh loudly, the howl clearly audible even over the wind. “Hell YES I'll do that with you.”

“Ummm... what are we doing?” Bambietta asks nervously as you continue to laugh.

Momentum. The phsyical force described as the result of multiplying the mass of an object in kilograms by its velocity in meters per second.

An interesting detail, which is usually no more than a footnote in some physics textbooks, is that in theory if a human body weighing just a mere 52 kilograms is moving fast enough it can attain roughly the same momentum as a small sedan driving on the expressway at 60 kilometers an hour. Of course, considering the repercussions of that would be silly, as no human can move with that speed. But with hirenkyaku or shunpo, the very fastest practitioners can actually attain that sort of speed in an instant to confound the senses of other fighters who simply can't keep up with the change in position.

In the Onmitsukidō, Executive-level officers are sometimes taught to actually harness this as a form of attack. Normally the technique is intended to test the resilience of an advanced practitioner's body rather than being applied in any practical fashion, pushing the lower body to its absolute limits. It's a challenge. Part of an examination. Sometimes part of a running gag of sorts.

Not so today.

“Fifth way of Onmitsu,” you and Yoruichi shout in unison with one final burst of speed. “Dynamic Entry!”

As your bodies accelerate the two of you kick off the rooftop below you in a widening cloud of shattered tiles fragments and wooden splinters, extending your feet forwards and spreading your arms for balance.

They never see it coming.

The blow isn't something you feel just in your feet, but in your chest as well from the wave of pressure radiating from the point of impact... which in your case is the bridge of reigai-Shunsui's nose. You get the feeling he was in the middle of saying something too when you hit him, which makes the crunch of his nasal bones under your low-top shoes even more satisfying. Next to you Yoruichi hits Ukitake in his chest with similar results, causing the reigai-Captain's eyes to widen in utter shock as his ribcage compresses dangerously, cracking several of his ribs for sure.

The duo are sent careening backwards, bouncing off each other several hundred yards distant and eventually crashing into a row of buildings.

All of which collapse.

"We're here to rescue you," Yoruichi announces as she rolls to her feet, a burst of reiatsu from her feet having canceled her forward momentum as the rest of it basically transferred straight to reigai-Ukitake's spine through his chest. "Sorry it took a while!"

Yamamoto glances first at Yoruichi, then at you. You simply shrug, and he glances at Bambietta as she stares slack-jawed at the devastation your arrival brought upon the First Division's barracks.

"Sorry," Yoruichi continues, "but that's probably all of the Gotei 13's discretionary budget for the month. But hey, it looked cool and it served the purpose. So what's really important here?"

"You're just happy we got to use that technique in combat," you reply, raising an eyebrow at your exuberant wife.

"You're goddamn right I am. I've been waiting nearly two hundred years for that!"

"We need to get you a hobby," you sigh as Yamamoto stares blankly at the two of you, as if in complete disbelief.

"This IS my hobby."

"They will be back," Yamamoto warns you. "I have yet to be able to track down the copy of Retsu, who has been healing them with her own prodigious talents."

"Well then, old man, the answer's simple!" Bambietta insists, raising her left arm and readying a reishi bomb.

"Oh?" Yamamoto asks, raising one bushy eyebrow.

"We just kill them until they stay dead," you agree, drawing your swords while Yoruichi does the same next to you. "Then deal with Unohana's reigai once they're out of the picture."

"I can only hope the rest of our number are dealing with this situation with the same exuberance," Yamamoto grumbles. "I, on the other hand, have had just about enough for the day. You youngsters can take over from here while I rest my old bones."
>>
>>48199978
Technically, since we haven't relaesed Rosa shouldn't we have three swords?
Can we put Rosa between our teeth?
>>
>>48199978
By any chance, was there a clone Yamamoto encountered by anyone?
>>

And that's all for today. Thanks for playing, and you can look forward to next week: Yoruichi, Riku, and Bambietta vs reigai-Shunsui, reigai-Ukitake, and reigai-Unohana. Archive's up, and see you later!

I'll be around for comments/discussion, and I'll also be running SoZ tomorrow. I'll shoot for either 10am PST or noon, with a shorter run time. Twitter updates beforehand to clarify the time.

If they made a clone Yamamoto, it'd probably be his younger self. In which case everyone would be fucked.

...Though on the other hand, it seems weird that a Reigai Unohana would be doing the healing if reigais aren't built to hesitate. Like you'd think she'd be Unohana Yachiru instead of acting as Retsu.
>>
>>48200028
Two. Tenkotsuki's sheath is a rarely-used option in combat since Rosa's blade has become available, but technically she's a dual-type herself.

>>
>>48200032
silly anon. You can't clone Yamamoto. that choice is mutually exclusive. Either spend all your resources to make a Yamamoto clone or else spend it on making the other captains.
>>
>>48200069
So did Kenny find his clone?
>>
>>48200069
we ARE still in Bankai mode correct?
>>
>>48200089
Clone OMG in his prime could probably shit stomped everyone there bar riku and that fight would be some serious shit.
>>
>>48200195
The old man right now could pretty soundly beat Riku. Shunsui would actually be a better match against Riku, as he is the second strongest Captain normally.
>>
>>48200222
Nah her banzai is op as almighty fuck, and the combined bankai can do some serious shit, not including the urahado, in all honesty the main reason we didn'the full release and straight up murder Aizen is collateral damage.
>>
>>48200103
Nope. Still more or less lost.

>>48200117
Correct, though for now it still isn't having an effect on your surroundings. It does put you at a level of speed and strength no other Captain can handle without Bankai, including Yamamoto.

>>48200222
It could be a lot closer than you might imagine, as without the flames on the outside the danger is just being vaporized by being cut. If Riku could avoid that for long enough she'd win. If she couldn't she'd lose.

Simple as that. I'd put the odds in Yamamoto's favor though.
>>
>>48200375
Yamamoto's flames that are hotter than the surface of the sun also coat his body in bankai, unless you rule that out via shinreiryoku shenanigans. Then there's the fact it would just heat up the place by virtue of the heat not being fully contained around him/his zanpakto.

Playing keep away sounds like a good way of getting heat stroke. Which I'm sure his tolerance of is slightly higher.

I dunno, King. Maybe I'm overestimating the old man.
>>
Best thing about OMG's stat line is that everything is maxed except for strength because he is an old man. And even then, have you seen how ripped he is? Jesus Christ.
>>
>>48200450
See, that's the problem for him: it's outside his body. So yes, his blade would be hot but with shinreiryoku fuckery you could actually cut him without Tenkotsuki or Kobara no Tachi evaporating. It'd just be a matter of figuring out how to do it safely.
>>
>>48200514

I just want to see him use more Kido. Since apparently he can do 90's level kido without an incantation.
>>
>>48200523
Yamamoto in his old age seems more of a burst fighter. His experience and refined fighting technique lets him deal tons of damage in a short bout. But age is what holds him back, weakening his endurance. That's why you often see most senior citizens take things easy as their bodies can't handle the insane stress in a intense workout over a long period of time. hence why he's the cranky old man we know and love.

>Yamamoto grumbles. "I, on the other hand, have had just about enough for the day. You youngsters can take over from here while I rest my old bones."
>>48200450
So it's a case of who can withstand the other's aura longer? Yamamoto's flame aura is deadly due to heatstroke and intense temperatures, but Riku's divine aura could theoretically put the fear of god in said person.
>>48200595
It also costed him an arm. Which is something we recently paid to kill a clone of Riku. Sure we have life&limb insurance, but it's still a hefty price.
>>

>It also costed him an arm. Which is something we recently paid to kill a clone of Riku. Sure we have life&limb insurance, but it's still a hefty price.

That was for that particular spell, though. I think it was stated somewhere he can use quite a bit of Kido without even stating their names, let alone an incantation. I mean, he has had thousands of years to practice and git gud at kido.
