>Lock onto Northern Cobra
>Fire dual laser rifle Alpha Strike into Northern Cobra (+4 to hit, +8 with successful lock)

The Crocodile slowly rocked right and left as it ascended the rocky terrain, the pilot slowly drifting the joystick left and right, scanning for his next target.

"Where are you...?" Bludhawk quietly muttered under his breath. Then he heard it, the tell-tale "KRUMP!" of a mortar and the high whistle of its descent. He stabbed into a pedal, sidestepping the blast and leaving his right side lightly scorched.

"Contact Right!" The torso and arms swung upward to see one of the enemies VTOLS taxiing out of an opening hangar door. "Fuck, Contact Front!" The left arm shot first, cutting its beam into the concrete before the gunship, then tracking up its body, before its partner in the other arm whirred to life as well, stabbing into the aircrafts spinning prop and melting it away.

"That's one down, who's next?"

3C! The warlord has deployed a GOAT unit! I repeat: Gargantuan Ordnance, Automatic Targetting heavy artillery units! I didn't even know you could still get those on the black market, they were banned by IF mandate. All pilots, get into cover of the cliff-face and pull out, we do not have the manpower or capacities to take on self-propelling nuclear lobbing clusterbomb lobbing catapul--

wait a second.

Dammit, Mr. Kerry, are we fighting actual goats? My tac-net is showing actual live mega-goats on the field. They have some kind of awful looking rotary cannon with a mean looking bullet-per-second ratio.

God I miss the days I was fighting oil pirates or fanatics.

Kail! Malek! Kestrel! Don't under-estimate the enemy goats, we just lost a pilot to murderous mad mega Kaus, I won't be the Commander who gets another pilot killed to gnarly great goats! Focus fire on the enemy defenses!

That warlord is in a GuyeCo mech, do /not/ get close to him or you will drown in bullets.

I love these threads. Thank you.

The mega-goats appear to be equipped with some kind of armour, other than that they don't seem to have any weapons beyond their horns. Be careful though. Common knowledge of mega-goats says that while they are not the biggest and strongest of mega fauna they can perform devastating charge attacks.

The Warlord however appears to be kitted out with the standard overcompensation loadout:

I thought it'd be more fitting to my pilot's backstory to go with the deathwish like tactics of the Komodo over the more balanced mid range Croc. I was initially leaning towards the mace at first but I didn't want to become too much of a liability since it would leave the Komodo more susceptible to being swarmed. I figured the FC would be a good enough compromise.

The blips on the tactical scanner refused to go away despite Sparebits relentless blinking. The little symbols leered out of the information display. Goats. Armored charge goats backed up by a mass-bullet barrage.

"I'm activating the electronic data interdiction. Please update your protocols."

He pressed the activation switch. The nimbus shuddered with the sudden power surge and then the air-waves filled with exabytes of transmissions data and an awful, screeching guitar track.

Essentially the corp pays out so that newbies like us aren't stuck with mediocre mechs.

Yeap. The company already has one, that replaced the Alligator with the Crocodile, which is just all round superior.

Hm.
I've only just realised looking at this that purchasing new licenses unlocks new company assets for purchase. Guye Co. unlocked CQC Doctrine and the mechapult, Knite Lite unlocked Hunter Doctrine and the minelayer missile, and Exo Terra unlocked the Electronic Support aircraft. I wonder what options the other licenses will offer.

On a related note, I feel that the reason the extraction aircraft goes so unused is because it comes at the price of neutralising your cost/pay for the mission, and I think I speak for most if not all of the corps when I say that they would rather get their mech shot out from under them and risk potential death escaping on foot than give up their payday.

Not really a surprise, the Crocodile is an incredibly good budget robot. Kerry tells me that the things have been selling like hot cakes since Gavial put them on the market, and it's not hard to see why. They've got comparable performance to other modern frontline units, and while its laser rifle is basic it still packs a hell of a wallop.

Reaper doesn't do much, except in a few niche cases where it's absolutely bloody terrifying.
Most of these builds use mechs or equipment we don't have yet, eg: Scythe Motive Control with an AESR plasma blade, to kill everything within 2 squares of you.
The only build I can see at the moment with it is Thousand Cuts + Swarmer Missiles + Stiletto Targeter, which gives 6 attacks critting better and better, the last of which crits on a 7+.

I wonder how this would look like to other people.
>>
>>48248326
>>48248383
It depends, I think.

On its own it doesn't look terribly practical with our current weapon base.

Now imagine a Reaper with Advanced Warfare. Reaper - Scythe Fire Control - Thousand Cuts.

+2 to all attacks from Advanced, enemies take -4 Def, and you can allocate shots to different targets, doing something no other mech can possibly do. If you have a lot of shots (Linked weapons) you can sweep away entire groups on your own.

Do the sword-route and your blade singlehandedly slices through every target in your reach. Getting [Cleave] on all melee weapons alone is worth the price of admission.

We have a lot of options for high-damage single target attacks, but the ability to hit /areas/ of smaller units is very valuable.

A single reaper could handle 3 LAVs in one action, compared to Cryptic, Gunman and Sparebits using 3 mechs and a total of 6 actions to accomplish the same.

I'm not sure I'd want to be the Reaper? But if I was on a team with a reaper, I'd know be on a team with someone who simply handles every target around.

1/3rd of the reason I'm interested in the Reaper training. Area control has proved difficult, though I like to think Wechuge did an ok job with the mortar. Presently, I think our best option for it is combining Alpha Strike and Vigilance to attack 4 separate targets, but even that is slightly lacking.

My concerns about the class: Against mechs/bosses, no bonuses on your rolls. Not a real flaw, but dice hate me. With [Mo], is friendly-fire a risk, and can you select which adjacent tiles are targetted when using a Cleaving weapon? Does [Ha] negatively affect salvage?

The other two thirds: No one has done it yet, and I like exploring new things. And, as the guy who meets the grim reaper most often, it'd amuse me to wear the title.

So they did, my mistake. It's kind of hard to follow what went on in that battle, it was a real fustercluck.

I tell you, this has been a sobering and terrifying abject lesson in the importance of redundant subsystems. Hetros was one of our best pilots, and his mech was in mint condition, but one lucky crit from the wrong weapon and...
>>
>>48255741
I'm thinking of scrapping the reaper class itself and reworking the concept into something different.

Judging from feedback there are some good ideas in there, just not enough to create a full class out of.

>>48256204
It wasn't the critical hit that killed him. He took 20 damage in total and he had 14 hit points, after his main HP pool was depleted the rest of the damage went straight to his torso. If he had been lucky the damage might have been spread out across the other body parts leaving his mech wrecked... but alas the dice gawds can be cruel.
>>
>>48256309

Our first losses were in pitched battles against superior forces. Our recent ones were in a movie shoot gone wrong and what should have been a milk run against a poorly equipped enemy.

It has, by all accounts, been a rough week for the Camel Corps.
>>
>>48256309
I like the Reaper. The first skill is tremendously good and thematic. You specialize in defeating smaller opponents.

Fire Control is a little hampered by the fact that weapons don't have *quite* have enough bullets vs damage to make allocating shots to different targets that useful in most instances. Ie, 3 shots at 2 dmg versus 1 target is great, 1 shot at 2 damage is less so. Highest "shots" is Swarmer Missiles, HMPs and GCA weapons. Without options to auto-fire weapons, you will need to move and shoot, which means linked weapons or nothing. And even linked weapons do not have quite enough shots.

The +2 Crit vs same target directly contradicts you ability to split shots in multiples; you want to stack up and get better crits. Auto-Disabling on a crit is great. Mostly already auto-disable on a crit because reliable crits means getting a weapon that has high crit value + good damage. So it's icing on a cake you've already got iced.

Auto-Cleave is *great*.

You can do some damage with linked MPs, firing 6 shots in 1 action, then allocating 3 shots per target vs 2 targets. With a Stiletto, that's 1 dmg 18 crit, 1 dmg 16 crit, 1 dmg 14 crit.

But then a single point of DR defeats you.
--

A pair of smartguns has slightly better damage models and ends with 4 shots, so allocating 2 shots at that are 2 dmg 17 crit, 2 dmg 15 crit is fair odds of a critical strike.

of course as already mentioned, a Swarmer *eats* things alive. -4 Def + 6 shots + +2 per crit + damage. But that's just making the already deadly swarmer even more lethal.

A reaper with a GuyeCo Bullet hoses fires 3 shots, allocates each 1 shot to a different target, does 4 damage per shot (auto-ending LAVs) and the shots have AoE damage so you can paste an area. That starts looking like a decidedly deadly option. But it's also the "only" option.
>>
>>48257125
So I think the ultimate issue for the Reaper Class as it is and stands is that locks you into very few viable choices more than any other classes. Drone control offers plenty of drones, melee has a bunch of options and weapons, hacking is automated aggression and viral uploads and the commando means zipping around and ambushing. None of them are specifically gear reliant. Even automated aggression and Drones have enough play-base for the equipment it directly upgrades that you have to make choices.

If reworking,I would perhaps change [A Thousand Cuts] to give +1 Shot Count rather than +2 Crit per same target. +2 Crit is good, but it means you don't want to use fire control because it brings down your crit on a per target basis.

Instead, you over-ride the safety limitations and spit out more bullets that you then assign to different targets, or you fire all of them at the same target and benefit that way. It splits the Tree into [single target heavy crit focus] and [large area denial]. And then you pick between deadly crits or lots of normal shots.
>>
>>48257160
+1 shot count would be great for everything...but bring a whole new level of crazy for beam weapons with an intensifier. Then adding in the fire control you would be looking at up to 4 x^2 damage hit on two targets. Bonus points again if it is the ion cannon or particle ripper.
>>
>>48257160
Although being able to treat linked weapons as independently firing on seperate targets (ie: 2x boomsticks firing at 2 targets in 1 action because you fire them linked) does have a lot of value versus less hefty opponents like most non-mechs.

I suppose Reaper as it is right now and AESR or Apex Equipment gets nasty.

>>48257316
Yeah, realizing that you're right. But frankly AESR equipment is ludicrous anyway. Beam dispersa fields? Sub processors? Good heavens, man! Let's get fifty.
>>
What do you think about tier 1 for the reaper class being +1 to rolls for every unit destroyed in the last turn?
>>
>>48257125
>>48257160
Well all that just goes to show that there were only really one or two good ideas in the class in the first place. Perhaps adding it was going too far. I dreamt it up because I wanted Apex to contribute something to the company support assets.

I've decided to re-work the concept. You'll see what I mean in the next hanger phase.

>>48257386

With 15 or so active pilots, how's that gonna work out?
I imagine it's first come first serve, but I'm itching for a bit of action too and I'd hate to miss out.
Though I do understand that the numbers per mission were dialed down for Mr. Kerry, I don't want to put him under any pressure.
>>
>>48260722
>With 15 or so active pilots, how's that gonna work out?

Not at all.

The way it works at the moment is that in each hangar thread (an intermission) Command posts a list of missions we can choose from, each with a cap on how many can deploy. We then discuss what missions we think we should do, then allocate ourselves to those missions.

We wound up with enough players to reach the cap on both current mission (the movie shoot and the current base assault), with one veteran player, Tragedy, arriving too late to join.

So if we do two missions of cap 10 we can fit the entire company in for the next batch and still have more room for late recruits.
>>
>>48260722
It's more that Command is dividing up the workload, last mission it was a few veterans and a pair of rookies, making a headcount of 5.
This mission is 8, the mission before was a siege mission with 15 players, several assorted allied tanks, infantry and artillery, and several, in my experience: massive waves of enemies.
He's just easing turn processing the workload on himself as GM of a game he could easily put on kick-start as a skirmish wargame

Yes, I mean that, cognis.
I'd buy a mini wargame of this
>>
>>48260901
Same. Tiny mini-wargame, models for mechs, hexes to re-arrange into a map of some sort, cards or some other indicator for the specific loadsout on the mech (or just a stat sheet that's pre-loaded for a mission), done, useful, have a war.

Speaking of, this mishap with the warlord's Wimp has me very apprehensive about this upcoming Guye Co mission. Between that and the Pugilist they're very heavy on DPS that could allow them to make mincemeat of us if we put a foot wrong. They may have guidance scramblers too. Some caution may be necessary when assigning pilots.

At least there won't be mines there. I'm sure that to Guye, mines are about the most yellow and unmanly weapon system ever devised.
>>
>>48261255
I'd be more worried about the Hedgehog System Armour than mines to be honest. Once a Pug gets in your face, he's gonna poop all over it without even attacking.
>>
>>48261255
>>48261289
Ha ! Hacking a toaster would be harder than Guye mechs.
>>
>>48261289
It still has to roll, and the two damage it deals is paltry compared to what the Pugilist itself can do.

>Twin linked power fist
>10 damage per hit
>Instantly destroys parts if it crits

You could go from being 8 tiles away and at full health to irrecoverably splattered over every nearby surface in one turn. Do you want to end up like that Mega Kau? Because I have no wish to be medevaced from the field via a fucking spatula.

>>48261333
After this mission, underestimating them is not something you want to do. Remember, this site is slated to have elite pilots. Could well be combat techs in there. They may have guidance scramblers and melee processors as well.

>Holy shit. I...
That's just one combination. As you've seen, a Wimp with two bullet hoses can potentially put 24 damage downrange in one turn, and it has splash damage, AND it destroys any parts it crits.

Guye co isn't the worst company for ridiculous damage though. That'd be A.E.S.R., who as have been established, are a pack of filthy cheaters.

>Ion Cannon
>3 shots, 8 damage per shot, exponential damage
>i.e. max 32 damage per attack
>Attacks hit all targets in a line
>Attacks penetrate armour
>High Crit chance, crits deal five crit damage (a whole module's worth)
>Range of 16

Oh, and in this older version of the rules before the oversight was spotted and corrected, it used to be possible to dual wield them.
>>
>>48261724
Well, my opinion of the Crododile went from decent mid-short range assault mech to tin can with a flashlight attached.
I kid, I know a lot of it boils down to tactics and chance... still, modernization couldn't hurt, right?
I hope my first mission doesn't throw me into the frying pan against those guys, cripes.
>>
>>48261952
Horsts pugilist has max damage potential of 32 damage on a charge, from a whopping 10 hex threat range, if you live through that and let him live, his next turn damage potential is 50(!!!) Damage, the key to killing them is distance and hacks
just wait till Horst buys an ecm and the thruster array, you'll have a dps machine with all the glaring weaknesses buffed out
>>
>>48261952
The Crocodile is actually already a modernised option, it's way better than the mech it replaced, the Alligator.

And it's pretty solid as frontline mechs go. Reasonably tough, with an above average main gun (the standard for most 'generic' weapons seems to be about 6 damage).

The way I see it, when you buy a mech what you're really paying for is access to its equipment, the stats don't generally differ by too much between mechs in comparable roles, and more expensive companies don't necessarily have all round superior mechs. Exo Terra stuff is fragile and dependant on Electronic warfare, Guye Co can put out a lot of damage on paper but are kind of impractical and easily hacked, Knite Lite underperform if they can't rely on stealth, LHI are hella tough and well armed but easy to hit, and Apex are the Slightly Better Company, marginally superior at things, but lacking in a specialty that makes them especially strong.

A.E.S.R are kind of special and almost certainly plot relevant. I wouldn't count on seeing anything from them for a while.

They're also far from invincible. Behold!

>>
>>48262131
Honestly, the Pugilist isn't even the scariest melee mech for me. That would be the Linebreaker. It doesn't do as much damage, but it can charge you from SIXTEEN hexes away (twelve with shell plating), and between HP, shell plating and reactive armour it's near unstoppable.
>>
>>48263043
>charge you from SIXTEEN hexes away
It seems to me just about everything is equally broken in it's own way.
Except for the cheap stuff, of course.

Though that made me think of something - reactive armour is basically reflective explosions, yeah? What effect would that have on a melee weapon striking it?
>>
>>48263257
I would assume for simplicities sake that it just deflects it.
>>
>>48263257
I think the games really shines and shows that Command has done a great job at keeping all of the mechs roughly equal within a tier, while each company has a clear identity. Even the tier 0 GGA units have character to them and are able to do things that higher tiers cannot. (Has any ever taken or bought the auto-rifle though?)
>>
Bump.
>>
>>48265546
>all of the mechs roughly equal within a tier
I think some might be a bit more equal than others, the Nimbus for instance has been sadly neglected until Sparebits bought one just now, and I don't believe anyone has bought a Squire. Although this maybe down to playing style preference, the Squire has a somewhat unusual support melee role and while powerful the Satcom jammer is hazardous to deploy as a trade off.

All this said, balancing a game like this that has so many options is near impossible, so the fact that it works as well as it does is a testament to the design.

That's for now of course, A.E.S.R may show up and snap the game balance in half.

> each company has a clear identity
Yeah, I'm starting to appreciate how the tiers of equipment exclusivity ensure that both the mechs and the companies maintain a consistent theme and functionality regardless of loadout.

>Has any ever taken or bought the auto-rifle though?
Not that I know of. I know why it's there though. Because the only gun in the universal list is the mech pistol every company has at least one generic ranged weapon so that people piloting mechs without their own exclusive guns still have access to one. These weapons all have a flavour of their company, e.g. the boomstick is short ranged but a bit stronger than average, the crossbow is silent, the gauss rifle pierces armour, the sabot cannon has long range etc. The auto rifle is the GGA equivalent. And because it's GGA its defining trait is being functional but unremarkable. It's redundant on the Alligator/Croc because the carbine/laser is better by design, but a Cobra could use one as a mid range backup weapon if reloading its main gun wasn't prudent, and I guess a Komodo could use one if the pilot wanted to trade off damage for range.

It's just that no one happened to do that before they got better options.
>>
>>48265890
I'd say that the some are a bit more equal equal is fair, but none of the mechs are clear trap options or wastes of points.

Nimbus will have a real chance to shine next mission if we give it a chance...that or we need Command to use one on us to get a good handle on it.

I'd love to see the squire in action but its combat role just has not been as important. Maybe it needs a small upgrade to the disruptor field to "can 't lock on or scan."
>>
>>48266071
>none of the mechs are clear trap options or wastes of points
For sure.

>Nimbus will have a real chance to shine
As I see it, the trouble with the Nimbus is that while the jammer is immensely potent, it requires you to get within 6 hexes of the enemy. This can open it up to melee charges and most ranged attacks, and the threat of the jammer posts a big target on it and makes it an immediate priority. To add to that, even though it's the tankiest Exo Terra mech...it's still an Exo Terra mech, which means it's just not all that tough. Add in that the jammer uses the whole torso and it can't do a whole lot else, either. Though I have no idea what I would change about it. If you passed on the jammer it might make a very good hacking bot (I don't believe anyone has gone full hacking skills yet), since it has long sensor range and the ECCM drones.

>Squire
Looking at it, the Squire isn't all that different from the Errant, it just has one less torso hardpoint and trades 2 HP for 2 DR, and even has a similar selection of a defence enhancing support field and a specialised weapon for disabling targets (with the Errant's being ranged but useless for regular damage, and the Squire's melee but moderately powerful even if it fails to crit). I think it's mostly just come down to pilot preference which one the commandoes picked. They were just more shooty shooty than stabby stabby.
>>
Beginning Turn Processing
>>
>>48266320
Jammed mechs cannot charge rules as written since a charge is two action maneuver (move+charge)...in my mind Jammer+ECCM drones set to hack motive systems could easily be the MVP of the next mission. Though this might just be theory crafting.

Seriously though, assuming that the LAV had Veteran Pilots that was a 20% chance. And the two bullet hoses roll 21 6 times in a row? I had a Nimbus and my plan was to stay behind Chuck and supoort him. But the next mission had only one Mech in it and that was the Cognis, which then wrecked my Nimbus.
The Nimbus also is, hands down, the best platform for Smartguns, and Longbow and Hammer Missiles. It just has more hardpoints than the other Mechs and if I hadn't been so broke I'd still be in one.

The Squire isn't bad but it's worse than the Errant. with one less hardpoint and the Disruptor field requiring you to be next to an enemy while the Scrambler field works at any range. Realy Squires and Errants (and a Nimbus 2BH) would work wonders if they worked together but nobody wants to be the guy in the Squire and coordinating the movements of such a squad is a bit tough with how the game is set up right now.

Technically all actions within a phase happen simultaneously. This is the first time this has ever become an issue.

Alright here's my ruling:
When two units are giving an receiving repairs in the same phase they must finish their phases adjacent to each other.

Whew, that's one for the errata.

>>48272102
Blast damage does not care about your Def value, the warlord wasn't aiming directly at you (he was just out of range) instead he was manually targeting the space adjacent to you which was much easier to hit.

I distinctly remember that the light tank rolled a 19 to hit you. Based on your abilities, movement and equipment for that turn you had a Def of 18.
>>
>>48272102
> if I hadn't been so broke I'd still be in one.
I don't know, I was pretty impressed when I realised that a Cirrus with your skill layout could jet around at full speed for maximum defence boosts and still fire all its guns and be guaranteed to hit.

> And the two bullet hoses roll 21 6 times in a row?
The Warlord moved and fired both guns, so he's clearly an elite gunner. Probably has suppression, so that's a plus 4 right there. An FCS would take it up to 6, if had one of those.

This is a big change to the rules. Previously, scatter depends on Def. But if they can "aim at the ground" instead, it makes blasts alot more reliable and Def a much worse stat.

Alice is currently the only one yet to post actions.

>He was manually targeting the space adjacent to you
I did the exact same thing in a game of eclipse phase trying to hold down a bottle neck once (Which was also very successfull) But in that case there was only one place the enemy could be.
I'd say that shooting next to a thing you can't track because it's moving to fast and well camouflaged isn't any easier than shooting the thing itself. Think about how that would have looked in motion. As if he knew where I'd be going. which he (probaply) didn't.

I'm not asking for a Retcon, I hate Retcons.
But overthink giving the ground it's own defense rating, you are creating precedence and it is buffing Artillery and especialy the Zenith's Cluster Rockets like crazy.

It's always been like this. Players using mortars have been doing it for a while now. It's just now Gunman happened to run into one of the few things that could have hit him easily and even then he only went down because a mook got a lucky shot on him earlier in the game.

>>48272259
It means that the first three enemy missiles fired in range of any given turret are shot down. So half of Kail's swarmers will be wasted.

>>48272326
With the exception of the Zenith Cluster Rockets, "shooting the ground" with artillery also has the downside of reducing your damage by half. I felt that this was an acceptable balance to using blast weapons to damage high Def targets. I also felt that it was okay that this didn't apply to the Zenith's Cluster Rockets since they were a limited ammo weapon and specific to a single mech.

If you feel this system needs reworking I don't mind discussing it further in the next hanger phase. Just remember to bring it up if I forget.
>>
>>48272326
>As if he knew where I'd be going. which he (probaply) didn't.

Well, it is a bullet hose. It puts out so many explosive rounds that you just have to fire it in the general direction of your target to hit them with at least some shots. And at 1 damage apiece it does about as much as most normal guns. It's just that you were in a (damaged) mech that relies on evasion.
>>
>>48272368
>half of Kail's swarmers will be wasted
Which means that if I have my maths right, he took 6 damage from them (fired 12, half shot down, damage reduced from 2 to 1 by armour). On top of the 8 he took last round, I make him at 4HP left, which means...

>>48252992
ALICE! Finish him now or Kail is mincemeat!
>>
>>48272413
>>48272368
I'm having a case of cognitive dissonance because what happened may technically make sense rules wise (I usually love technically corectness) but at the same time I was in a Cirrus with adaptive camo moving through a wood at breakneck speed and still managed to get rounds put next to me 6 out of 6 times which suggests that it was easy to tell where to shoot in order to hit next-to the hardest-to-hit single target possible.

If you ever played arena shooters you know how hard hitting a thing that doesn't want to be hit can be, even with AoE weapons.

I'm also butthurt because I could have easily been out of his LoS and I thought that Alice changed the Redline shot to a cough gun shot to the torso in which case the Wimp would have been wrecked on top of all that.
>>
>>48272943
> a cough gun shot to the torso in which case the Wimp would have been wrecked
Unfortunately not, as we recalled earlier each part has 5HP, and hardpoints have nothing to do with it.

>cognitive dissonance
I think this may be more due to the bullet hose being a gun instead of a bomb. If you had been caught in an artillery explosion in the same situation, do you feel that you would still feel off about it?

>which suggests that it was easy to tell where to shoot
Well, you were largely going in one direction, presumably he could fire in front of you and wait for you to run into it. Aiming at you is hard, so he aimed at the direction it looked like you were going.

Think of it in terms of volume of fire instead of precision. He doesn't plant shots precisely, he just levels the whole area. A bullet hose is the only conventional ballistic weapon with an ammo limit, that's how many rounds fires, and only a few of those bullets go on target, the rest fly all over the place and explode to boot. You were going to get caught by a few, and the Cirrus is just to fragile to take glancing hits like that.

Look at it this way, Hetros was in perfect shape and he was slaughtered in one turn by these things. You were piloting the single most delicate mech in the game, and you were already damaged as well. That you survived at all is a lucky break.

Besides, mechs can always be replaced. People can't. I'm just glad you made it out okay.
>>
>>48273118
>Unfortunately not, as we recalled earlier each part has 5HP
I misread the smartgun's profile and thought it did 2 crit damage.
Shame on me for double wasting redline.

>I think this may be more due to the bullet hose being a gun instead of a bomb. If you had been caught in an artillery explosion in the same situation, do you feel that you would still feel off about it?
I'd feel worse because missiles, bombs and grenades travel slower and would need even greater precognition to be guided into "a place near me".

>Well, you were largely going in one direction, presumably he could fire in front of you and wait for you to run into it. Aiming at you is hard, so he aimed at the direction it looked like you were going.
Fluff wise:
All of this happenned very fast.
A straight line can still involve slides, dives and changes of speed.
You could also assume that I was going to move a different direction but changed course BECAUSE he did lay down suppressive fire.
I just burst out of the dust that the barrage on Hetros left behind, shot him in the face (as did Alice) and sped of really damn fast. should be suprised and capitilizing on this suprise advantage is part of my defence.

Crunch wise:
You're arguing that things that make me harder to hit don't make me harder to hit.

>Think of it in terms of volume of fire instead of precision.
Fluffwise:
I'm activly trying to not-be in the area his guns are pointing at.

Crunchwise:
This is the core of the my problem.
He didn't try to hit me, he tried to hit a patch of dirt near me because that was an easier target when his higher chance of hitting me is allready represented in the fact that his Bullethose has RoF 3 and that a miss by one would still deals some damage.

>That you survived at all is a lucky break.
This isn't about the weapons damage it's about shooting near a mech being easier than shooting a mech .

>I'm just glad you made it out okay.

Hey, we did our part. It's all down to Alice now.

Her smartgun is guaranteed to hit, since she shares Malek's lock on, so we should be good.

>It's times like these, where we know a mission hangup is low health, that a cruise missile or likewise weapon would be nice to drop said opponent
You may be right. Not in this situation of course, since the AA guns could down any potential support we could call (cruise missiles, minelayer missiles and fighters are vulnerable to AA).

I think that first we need better (non missile) fire power, and that means a license. Though there was also discussion of getting the Hunter Doctrine for the new batch of rookies.

As much as I will always vote on any initiatve that hands me vast amounts of control over super sonic explosive ordnance, I must politely deny company requests to grant command staff access to a finger of god system. With our current military contracts, contacts and contractors we cannot adaquately leverage our market niche to supply sustainable artillery barrages.

>Cruise missiles - I want them, I want them so bad

>Unfortunately, cruise missiles at 15 company credits / 75 pilot credits for *single* use is simple a non-starter. It's nearly the payout for an entire mission for a single missile that takes out a single enemy and is hard-countered by the AA systems we face so often.

>For the price of 1 cruise missile, you get a completely decked out mech at 75 pilot credits - 15 company credits opened up a blackmarket pipeline for everybody to use.

>Compare the cost of 2 missiles - 30 credits - to other options are are permanent, provide company wide benefit, and increase options for everybody. Modernization programmes, RPGs for everybody, bespoke mecha engineers, the works. Way better.

>It's iterally throwing money out of the window. Well, out of the launch ramp of a nearby missile station.

>Fighter Jets and Electronic Warfare jets cost 50, but is a re-usable asset, can be called in when neccessary, and provide rolling battlefield support. If we're discussing upping our ability to call in an "OH GOD, DANGER! GIVE ME THE EMERGENCY PHONE!", that's the investment we should focus on.

>Sparebits dreams of getting a stockpile of cruise missiles will never be fulfilled.

>If it was a single re-usable launch system that allowed you to fire once-per-mission, then maybe I'd be willing to consider paying 15 company cred for it.

>>
>>48275195
On the subject of miniguns, I'd like to inquire about the Summit's. Namely why you would want to use one. It kind of seems flat out inferior to the heavy laser, since it deals less damage, has shorter range and has a more troublesome drawback.
>>
>>48275105
>>48275024
Horst doesn't dance, he's got a few muscles that are listed da damaged, and the unnatural flexing of dances hurts him, his movements typically really are fluid and tigerlike, though his bulk is a decent impediment that stops him.

I also built commando with cirrus in mind, as a fast hunter who picks off those powerful back line supports.
+4Def runs FTW!!!!
>>
>>48275374
It's not the running that kills you. It's the sudden stop at the end.
>>
>>48275271
It was meant to be a choice between firing every turn but going slower, or firing every other turn but having longer range and moving normally. But yeah I see what you mean. After installing the relevant equipment to cancel out their respective drawbacks the mini-gun doesn't seem that great.
>>
>>48275271
>>48275422
The minigun can also benefit from special ammunition, and is not hardcountered by that one system from the AESR catalog, but yeah, it's pretty situational at best right now.
>>
>>48275418
The sudden stop would be with the end of the pike In a juicy exposed back liners weak torso chassis for possible 1hit kill damage
>>
>>48275422
Upping the minigun's fire rate to 4 might be a start. That way it could at least equal the damage output of the heavy laser, but spread out over multiple shots. Better for reactive armour, worse against other composite or shields. It'd also gel better with Reaper.
>>
>>48276729
The thing about the minigun, is that it doesn't really have a purpose. Each piece of personal equipment for a mech has a role it fills, and when both are weapons that role tends to be pretty specific.

For example the Cobra has the mortar and anti-mech rifle, one of which is for hunting single targets and the other is AoE. Likewise, the Pugalist has powerfists for armoured targets, and chainswords for mowing down weaker targets.

The heavy laser and minigun are just too similar in purpose. Both mid-range, mid-damage, rapid fire weapons. But the laser is better due to slightly longer range, multiplicative damage, and an easier drawback to solve.

Really, the Summit wants a melee weapon. But that looks to be a purposeful weakness of Apex mechs.
>>
Did hetros reroll a rookie or what?
>>
>>48278443
He's probably waiting for the hangar thread.

>>48277595
> the Summit wants a melee weapon
It has one, the blade. It's not all that powerful, but it has slash and only takes up one slot. It seems like it's meant more as a backup option than something you're supposed to lean on.

I see the Summit as having kind of a trooper role. Flexible all range shooting combat, with no less than four guns to choose from to facilitate this:

>Heavy laser - powerful, mid-long range, but must be reloaded
>Minigun - slightly less powerful, mid range, reduces movement, but can be fired as normal
>Gauss rifle - standard rifle type weapon with standard 6 damage, but has penetration. Good for armoured targets
>Laser - when twin linked can do as much damage as the heavy laser, without the reload, but has the shortest range

The issue here as Command noted is that the differing drawbacks in main guns are rendered moot by reloaders/servoes, and doing so removes the minigun's viability because servos go in the coveted leg slot and merely give you normal functionality back, while reloaders take a torso slot and have improved your base capabilities.

I suspect the reason for this oversight is that the Summit was devised before the Apex and LHI equipment lists, which would mean it predated autoloaders.

I kind of hope this matter can be resolved by beefing up the minigun somehow rather than nerfing the heavy laser or autoloaders, since I feel both of them are fine as they are.
>>
>>48277595
>>48279446
Oh, and I neglected to mention this earlier, but the minigun's one other advantage is not being sensitive electronics and thus vulnerable to hacking.
>>
>>48279446
Just you wait till I get the summit, berserker, and four blades across two arms.
I'll be cleaving for days.
>>
>>48279516
Hey yeah! I hadn't considered that, but it is a viable option, and no other mech can fit two (non combat knuckle) melee weapons in one arm.

The Peacekeeper regressive knife is viable in this role as well, since it's a one slot weapon.

In answer to both of these I'd suggest waiting till the hangar thread, since we're planning on buying an upgrade that will let new pilots choose the Lord as a starting mech, and it's exactly what you're asking for. A Stealth armoured sniper.

I believe there was some favour for the notion of purchasing Hunter Doctrine to expand the options of our new (and returning) rookies. While I do want a new license, I make at least 4 new pilots already who could benefit from this, and it would give our firepower a quick shot in the arm and them a leg up. We can't afford to keep palming them off with low end GGA gear, not after what happened to Wechuge.
>>

A modernization doctrine is 40 credits.

>>
>>48287091
>>48287108
I don't actually think the CQC doctrine is worth the cash to be honest. The Cobra was always popular, but it had trouble with being a tin can and its weapons being somewhat underwhelming by the standards of later stuff. The lancer cannon is much better than the anti-mech rifle. Meanwhile the electro bat deals the same damage as the mace, the blast shield provides the same protection as a tactical shield (and takes up the mech exclusive starting gear slot) and merely does chip damage, and the hedgehog system provides no added protection at all in exchange for more chip damage. It has more health, but if you were installing ablative in a Komodo and hedgehog in the Batman they would still be even on that score. Plus, camo plating as a starting option would afford our starting pilots stealth ability, which increases our tactical options.

We could still do it, but we also need to keep in mind how many new pilots would actually take advantage of it.

This has been asked before. If you take a mech to a battle, you must pay maintenance on it, and the fee comes straight out of your payout without touching your account. It represents alot of different things including paying our support staff, like the pilots who carry the giant box-on-legs to and from the battlefield.

And as Borealis said, who'd buy a mech without fuel or ammo, and with bloody great holes in the armour plating? Other than Hassan, who only pays in camels.

>>48286776
>Return repair arm and demo charge to company stash.
While the multi-role fighter sounds good (6 HK missiles is alot), it has the same downsides as the cruise missiles: vulnerable to AA and very expensive to use/replace. And of the 7 missions since I joined, only 2 haven't had AA present: the tank-rush and the mad kaus.

>>48287150
The main advantage of the Batman over the Komodo, is that new pilots don't have to immediately sell it after their first mission to get access to better equipment. Really, this is the main advantage to all the Doctrines: a leg up in finances that makes you far better prepared on the second mission.

Since we do have such an influx of rookies, now would be the best time to grab at least one modernisation doctrine. If we decide we don't want to spend all our cash on it, we could vote among the rookies for which one.

Commando, I plan to use a one shot weapon with a long reload, from stealth, so I don't have the rate of fire for Gunner to work. (Also, if we gain access to Lords, I'll use one of those
>>
>>48288162
I just presumed you were going down the sniper half of the Gunner tree: Marksman for headshots, Proficiency for never missing. Also, the level-1 Vigilance second shot can be used for reloading if you have a slow-reload weapon.
>>
>>48288139
I changed my pilot class to Combat Tech a while ago, by the way.
>>
>>48288192
Oh right didn't see that in the errata. I'll need to consider this...
>>
>>48288222
Only if you overwatch, mind.
Though with that range you should be able to do so safely. I had shorter range, so I got shot in the ass for leaning on vigilance (though it still worked perfectly).
>>
So, what are we getting next? Did we decide on what we are going to get in terms of company assets? I'm supportive of either one of the two lisenses or the fighter plane, fyi.
>>
>>48288525
We were considering the purchase of the two modernization upgrades, since we have a ton of rookies to outfit. It won't benefit us veterans, but I think it's a pretty good investment.
>>
>>48287598
According to my records the current company Cred balance is 79.

Left over from the previous campaign turn: +1
Transfer from the late Wechuge (rounded down): +4
Transfer from the late Hetros (rounded down): +1
Payout from the current campaign turn: +73

Outstanding Balance: 79

Hetros also left behind a cough gun and fully kitted out Cirrus. These have been transferred to the company inventory.
While it is ultimately the commander's call I recommend NOT pawning off Hetros's mech just yet incase he wishes to respawn.

New Company records here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1enJQA0pVzJUDoeDK7pUwISTTGKnNZJ_70KmSG8XiZ4w/edit?usp=sharing

I have not updated everyone's personal Cred balances yet.
>>
>>48288547
>modernization upgrades
Oh shoot. Yeah, forgot about that.
I just remembered that, and I'm supporting the lord over batman.
I mean seriously, armor and protection is good and all, but in the end, the farther they are from the enemy, the safer it gets for the new guys.
>>
>>48288525
No decision as of yet. Debate over licenses and modernisation, but Cognis might have some new options for us in the Hanger thread.

Presuming there isn't much in the way of new options, I like the idea of modernising now when we have the recruits and saving for a new license for next time. Though we're now at the stage of thinking seriously about the Bespoke Mecha Engineers.
>>
>>48288628
Bespoke Mecha Engineers will ruin our economy, though. It eats through credits like nothing. Getting wrecked in a custom mech is a death sentence.
>>
>>>/qst/
>>
>>48288625
My vote is for the Lord as well, although I think I'm sticking with my Croc regardless. The Batman, while a nice upgrade, doesn't make me feel any better about melee combat.

>>48288628
>>48288665
Bespoke Mecha Engineers would drain wallets like no tomorrow - double cost and double repairs? We'd be here for months saving up for that new license, not to mention if someone got wrecked in one, it'd be worth considerably less than it should be.
>>
>>48288743
It would not affect the company credits, only the players', so the license wouldn't be harder to get, however, it would really fuck with our ability to purchase new equipment.
>>
>>48288665
I'm with him, I don't think it's time for bespoke engineers yet.
I'm still struggling to get enough cash to get a functional stratus(although I can currently buy the chassis and load up in HK and EMP missiles, I need the commander's authorization to get all those things from the storage), I can't imagine how life will be for someone actually using a custom mech in our current stage.

>>48288583
strange, didn't we used to have one cobra chassis in the company hangar?
and that alligator is just sad. it doesn't even have a tac shield.
>>
>>48288782
I was assuming the company only got credits via player donations. I'm guessing the company has it's own mission rewards?
>>
>>48288834
yup. see here (>>48286776)

>Company payout 53
>Company reserves from movie shoot: 20
>73
>Wechuge Cred: 19
>Wechuge Cred: 19 / 5 = 3.8
>Standing Company Credit: 76
>>
>>48288352
Yeah I was planning on buying High Velocity rounds for most missions, since +2 range on a long range weapon is amazing...
>>
Might anyone have a pair of mech pistols they can loan out...? I'd feel a lot safer with them mounted in the off chance that one of my FC shots whiff...
>>
>>48288827
Not sure, my records from before the hiatus degenerated into a cluster fuck.

Only reason the Alligator is there because it was sitting around on the old sheet so it must have been valid. Can't remember where it came from. I think I repossessed it from one of the AWOL pilots, in which case, screw it. If you go AWOL your entire profile and inventory is frozen. I don't want to set a precedent of repoing AWOL inventories.

As for a company cobra Wendigo sold his cobra before he died so it wouldn't have been repossessed. And I can't remember anyone buying or donating a cobra to the company.

>>48288853
Where did you get that figure from? The last post I can find where Wechuge states his cred balance tells me he had 21.
>>
>>48288743
My vote is for both the Lord and the Batman, completely upgrading our lineup feels like a sensible choice, and we have enough credits if some of us chip in.

>>48288916
The black market goods change every campaign turn, so you'll need to stockpile them. And hope they're still available now.

>>48288981
I'll buy those for you once the Hangar thread goes up, just remind me. If you need anything else, just ask, I'm pretty rich.
>>
>>48288981
Mech Pistols or Heavy Mech Pistols? The company has about 6 of the Heavies in storage you can borrow for free.
>>
>>48288743
>>48288782
Yeah, I feel strongly about at least getting both the licenses before touching bespoke engineers. We need to expand our options ASAP. Hunter doctrine first, licenses next.
>>
>>48289011
I think the Alligator was repossessed from Labyrinth? Maybe?
Also, I've returned the Repair Arm I was using to the company.
>>
>>48289084
I distinctly remember Labyrinth wanted a Komodo. The Alligator was probably from one of the other AWOL pilots, but like I said I'm not adding AWOL inventories to the company stash. It fucks with my book keeping and will play merry hell if a pilot ever comes back.

No, if you go AWOL it's your responsibility to remember/dig up your old profile if you want to be re-instated.
>>
>>48288981
if you mean heavy mech pistols you can just loan them from the company, we have 6 of them in stock. ask about it to spare in the hanger thread.

>>48289011
>Where did you get that figure from?

Right, since we're on page 2 and is far from getting archived, let me post some questions that I found from the note I lost:

-can the effects from equipment, like advanced FCS/Stiletto targeting suite, be applied to drones passively? if not, can it be applied with drone control action?

-Active scanner will ALWAYS lock on target with the lock on action?

-can the mechs crouch/hunker down behind cover to trade actions for defensive bonuses?(like the 'hunker down' action in new xcom series)

-can the Scythe FC skill work with drone control action?

-are linked weapons required to be equipped on the same part? for example, is it possible to link HMP mounted on the chest and arm of the comodo? or smartguns carried on both arms of the stratus?

-when a stealthed unit moves farther by using a equipment with mobility bonus, is it revealed if the mobility equipment has the 'jump' option included?
(I'm certain you answered this before; explaining it by comparing a mech with a jump jet with a recon drone, something about a giant mech flying with thrusters is easy to notice. but I'm asking again because it's not included in the errata, and this info could potentially leave some new guys in a tough spot if they didn't know this)

-is the 1$ discount for rebuying a destroyed drone exist forever until it's purchased again? for example, since I lost a recon drone this mission, will I get a 1$ discount for the next recon drone I buy, regardless of when I buy it?

-charge action done in a non-straight hex(like 5,6,5,6,5) against a enemy that isn't direct on one of the 6 directions?
>>
>>48289348
In addition to this, when the license for APEX comes through, do things like auto-loaders need to be mounted on the same part of the Mech? So could a Lord use an Auto-Loader with a Lancer Cannon.
>>
>>48289348
>charge action done in a non-straight hex(like 5,6,5,6,5) against a enemy that isn't direct on one of the 6 directions?
and I think I just remembered something about this. I think QM answered this like:
'if you draw a line from the direct center of the beginning hex to the direct center of the destination hex, and if the line does not exit the hexes posted, it counts as a charge.' I'm not sure if this was answered by QM himself, but this could have been it.

>>48289387
>auto-loaders
I believe auto loaders are just equipped on the torso. equipping it simply removes the 'slow' attribute from weapons, allowing it to be fired constantly like a normal weapon.
>>
>>48289348

>Equipment effects applying to drones
No and no.

>Active scanner always locks on?
Yes

>Can mechs hunker down?
In the fluff yes, in the crunch no. The defensive bonuses from cover already assumes the pilot is making use of the defensive terrain.

>Scythe FC working with drone control.
I've said it before. Drones never benefit from pilots skills save for the ones that explicitly buff them.

>linked weapons equipped on the same part?
No, people have already been taking linked smart guns on separate arms.

>when a stealthed unit moves farther by using a equipment with mobility bonus, is it revealed if the mobility equipment has the 'jump' option included?
Yes for mechs, no for recon drones (they're special)

>$1 discount
I can't keep track of that forever so I'm going to say you have to take advantage of that on the spot. Either you choose to replace the drone when accepting your payout or you don't. The rationale was that the 1 cred represents the drone controller that was still on your mech.

>Charge actions.
It doesn't have to be in the cardinal directions. If I can see you're trying to move in a straight line but can't be exact because of the hex grid I'll interpret it appropriatly. QM fiat applies of course.

>>48289387
What he said >>48289431
>>
>>48289449
>The rationale was that the 1 cred represents the drone controller that was still on your mech.
yup, that's what I was thinking too. perhaps it can be shown as '(dronename) drone controller' in the player equipment? that way players themselves could keep track. if even this is too complicated then I need to re-buy my recon drone asap.
>>
>>48289496
Actually I think better way would be to just say you get a 1 cred rebate on the controller and replace the drone normally.

Same effect, less stuff to keep track of.
>>
>>48289532
I guess that could work. wait, however it goes, either the discount or rebate, it still stays in effect until the hanger thread, right? I want to see the options first before deciding.
>>
>>48289570
Ah. It wasn't obvious but that was a ruling, and it's taking effect now.

You just got +1 Cred and your recon drone is gone.

If you want another one you have to pay 5 cred.
>>
>>48289627
oh okay

>credits:22. for real realsies this time
>>
wait, I just remembered one more question:

-when we deploy mines with the mech/bloodhound drone/mine launcher, is the mine(or the action of placing the mine) visible to the enemy? it seemed like it on this mission.
>>
>>48289834
It's not, they just rolled high enough to detect the mines early on.
>>
File: Looks clear boss....png (466 KB, 824x534)

>>48289834
Mines work much better against non-mech targets, who are liable to have much worse sensor systems.
>>
>>48289916
yeah. I think most non-mech units not having more than 8 HP helps too.

>tank D4 retreats only to step on another mine
kek
>>
Heh, so much really illegal shit on the Black Market now....
>>
>>48290163
?
>>
>>48290186
The player resources are updated with new black market stuff. Considering that before there was only one thing that was frowned upon. Now there is three separate warcrimes.
>>
>>48290163
>>48290207
>Chemical rounds
Alice...
>>
>>48290207
>all equipment except HESH and other company equipment is outright warcrime-worthy illegal
NOPE.
not touching that shit. Nuh-uh. Nope.

>>48290316
Oh shoot.
>>
Looks like GGA got a new weapon; the snub recoiless rifle. Thoughts?

For being illegal the terror drone isn't that much impressive. Unless the defence applies even when it's stuck on the enemy mech, in which case it becomes a really nasty pest.

>>48289858
Cognis, the combat drone in the equipment list lacks the description of it's armaments('carries smartgun and longbow'). Also the mine lacks the description about instant crit to legs when stepped on.

Speaking of mines, I just remembered another question:
If you launch a mine on top of an enemy, what happenes?
Can you shoot friendly mines to damage airborne units above it?
>>
>>48290316
>>48290351

That requires blast weapons, I doubt I'll ever own one of those.
>>
>>48290686
(A collective sigh of relief is heard in 3C headquarters)
>>
>>48290686
So no chemical warcrimes? Thank goodness.
>>
>>48283914

>20 Monies
>Mech Cost: 38
>Mech Upkeep = 8*
>*7.6, do I round up or down? I'm rounding up.

>30 - 8 = 22 Payout
>22 + 20 = 42

>42 Monies Total.

Neat.
>>
Reaper OS!
Gimme so I can sweep with powerfists!!!
>>
>>48290844
I'd rather go for the A2 refit package; it will boost the survivability of the recruits considerabely.
>>
>>48283914

>30 payout
>47 mech worth
>20.6 total payout
>>
>>48290664
Fucking typos. I how the hell does that get accidentally deleted...

>If you launch a mine on top of an enemy, what happens?
It bounces off and fails to arm itself. Mines are not direct attack weapons.

>Can you shoot friendly mines to damage airborne units above it?
No, mines are not anti-air weapons.

I see everyone is already looking at the new stuff. I'll explain more in the next hanger thread.
>>
>>48290859
Fuck that, I could just wade into packs of mecha and dish out 30-50 damage in a full circle, they'll be fine!

I could become a nightmare....

But seriously, my vote is to modernize to a lord from the cobra
>>
>>48291070
Well it would take 140 credits to get ReaperOS. So even that is a ways off even if the APEX license is brought.
I am fully aware of my huge bias towards the Hunter Doctrine, since its what I want to use
>>
>>48290859
You know what?
You donate 1(!)cred and I'll pitch in the extra 4 so we can buy BOTH

Pilot:Horst
Mecha
1xErrant Designation: Timberwolf
1xPugilist designation: Cottos
Skills:Commando, conceal. Artful dodger
Creds-4+35-6=33
Hangar inventory:1x cleaned megafauna skull with crown shaped keratin growth,
Revising
>>
>>48291302
As far as increasing rookie-survival rates go, I think the L2 is better. Reactive armour nullifies the first 4 hits almost guaranteed.

Then again, I just realised how terrifying the reaper abilities are. Imagine Scythe Fire Control with a Wimp+Bullethose.
>>
>>48291302
Not now. I need all the money I have if I want to buy and equip my new mech...
When is the hangar phase starting?
>>
>>48291101
No, hunter doctrine is quite sensible. If anyone's biased it's me for wanting the Apex License, even though LHI more broadly useful to the company right now.
>>
>>48291440
When I say both, I mean the apex refitting service and the hunter doctrine pack.

The reaper OS will wait, but when it comes and I get sweeping doom I WILL murder hoards of mecha in one action

Who is going to donate a cred to the rookie relief fund?
Don't make me start pulling cards on who is using ablative that that I purchased for them!!
>>
>>48291534

>>48284629
>I need a bit of time to prepare the content of the next hanger phase so expect a new thread sometime over the weekend. I'll post updates on twitter
>>
>>48288139

I still nominate myself for 2IC.
>>
>>48291440
>>48291915
>>48290859
It seems kind of strange to have LHI/Apex parts be exclusive to rookies. I've no reason to object to this, since after hunter doctrine we can't afford a license yet anyway. I guess I'm just a little jelly.

Bear in mind though, the people who want to use the Lord for stealth won't benefit from armour, since they'll need camo plating.
>>
The black market stuff has me worried, specifically the existence of the Gamma Cannon and the Terror Drone. Who's making these horrible things? They're not the Peacekeeper's style, and AESR doesn't sound right either...
>>
>>48288139
Slap artful dodger onto my skills and you'll have me set

I am willing to slap down 4 of the five creds needed to get the 80 creds, so we can get both a modernization pack and either the apex or LHI retrofitting pack, with my vote towards modernization going towards hunter doctrine standing neutral on the A2/L2 packs
>>
>>48292141

Who ever it is, let's get in contact with them.
>>
>>48292265
Your kind of people I take it?
>>
>>48292265
I agree. That gamma cannon looks like a great replacement for my laser rifle. But it's too bad the chemical rounds are exclusive to blast weapons, I wouldn't mind putting them on the EMP missiles I'm getting.
>>
>>48292965
Jeeze man, you've not been here a week and already you're intent on microwaving people in their cockpits.
>>
>>48293008
Izzy removes her dust mask as she adds the last finishing touches of paint to her mech, christened the Killer Kau. "You say that like it's a bad thing."
>>
>>48293071
Hey, I have a rule, alright. Never kill anyone a way I wouldn't mind dying myself. Instantaneous incineration by laser rifle I'd take, but exotic weapons like that give me the heebie jeebies. I'd rather not go out to horrible skin melting toxin or all the blood spontaneously erupting from my body via microwave.
>>
>>48293071
"By the Saint! We were just in the Exclusion Zone and you want to use whatever weapon you can your hands on because it gives you and "edge"?
>>
>>48292965
>Malek quietly writes Izzy's name down next to Alice on a list of "things that worry me"
The Gamma cannon is... efficient. But radiation poisoning is a hell of a way to go, and even a non-fatal strike could lead to cancer and infertility. Not something I'd wish on my worst enemy, and certainly not things I want available to be used on me!

...oh yeah, and if you want EMP missiles, the company has loads going spare.
>>
>>48293145
For all that we joke about Alice she didn't actually buy any war crime gear. She bought peacekeeper gear (illegal but mundane) and ammunition that might make people squint but isn't outright verboten.

But then she has to go and reassure us she has no intention to purchase chemical rounds... because she doesn't have a blast weapon to use them.
>>
>>48293141
Izzy looked into the Exclusion Zone and the Zone looked back.
>>
I desperately want Apex. Unfortunately hate the new minigun though.
>>
>>48293385
It's better than the old one at least. Not really sure what else you could do with it to improve it, at least not without making it overlap with another weapon.
>>
>>48292111
Reminder that we need the corresponding licence to buy those two specific upgrade packs. So there's a prerequisite.

Hunter Doctrine seems to be the consensus right now, which means we still have more or less 40 company credits to spend. We could keep them, or buy CQC Doctrine/Mechapult/Pioneer upgrades. Your thoughts, people ?
>>
>>48293453
I say we keep them, get to the next license faster. Most of the other potential options are extravagancies we can do without.
>>
>>48293385
But the new minigun is a straight upgrade from the old one. It may be weaker than the heavy laser, but it still has quite a lot of stuff going for it.
>>
>>48293622
Not quite. It has one hex less range.
>>
>>48293385

Apex and LHI are cool.

I say we get the Hunter Doctrine, then save for LHI or Apex license.
>>
>>48293453
Keep them, save for a License and another upgrade next time. That, or defensive guns for the pioneers.

Then again, remind me why we are getting the Lord? We have two recruits in Komodos, and only one who showed any interest in a sniper role. Even if we get more recruits like Hetros and Wechuge rerolling it would need two more taking sniper roles before it was worth it over the Batman.

Also, it saddens me there's no Exo-terra modernisation program. Would be nice to get Jump Jets or missiles for free. I await AESR modernisation with baited breath.
>>
>>48293622

Shorter range is a huge deal. Also the laser has a much higher damage potential. Honestly, a full auto gauss rifle would make me cream my pants. However, heavy laser appears the best dakka gun at the moment.
>>
>>48293453
Wrong, follow the arrow chart.
We can buy those because we upgraded the gator to a croc.
>>
>>48293473
Rookies with repair arms sounds wonderfully utilitarian me.
>>
>>48294020
I'm pretty sure we need both prerequisites before we're able to buy that.
