Recently: Robin is the champion. Violet is missing! Hornbeam has a device that let's him psychically control anyone he can see (even through live cameras) and you, the gym leaders, the elite four, and a few others are going after him.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear vote winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just three 1d100s. Sometimes you can get a modifier from circumstances, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever! This is not a video game. Weak moves tend to be quicker.

Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

You and Robin ride Levi and Gyarados side-by-side. Gyarados and Levi keep needing to be told to slow down because they keep racing each other. It seems that Robin becoming the champion has really reignited their little rivalry.

Your eyes scan over the open water. There doesn’t seem to be any trouble so far, but Hornbeam’s ability to control people and Pokemon with his psychic device, you’re worried he might throw weird surprises at you. You still have no idea what happened to Violet.

You look to Clair on the boat

The gym leaders, elite four, and a few others are all around on various water Pokemon, or the two small boats. It’ll be a few hours before you hit the mainland.

Something doesn’t feel right, but you can’t put your finger on it.

You stick close to the main boat. If anything happens, you can react.

You glance over to Clair. She’s putting on a strong face, but you can tell she’s exhausted. Hornbeam’s psychic attack really messed her up.

Vance keeps an eye out. He never rests when there’s the chance for danger.

Jeanine is riding her Wartortle, Triton. It’s weird to think that if things had gone differently, he might have been one of the starter Pokemon you could have chosen. He looks happy with her. She seems to let him get away with too much mischief in your opinion, though. Coming from you, that probably says something.

The radio on the boat crackles. You can’t here it entirely over the sound of the boat and waves, but you get the jist. It’s an SOS. Some sort of fishing boat with a medical emergency. It’ll be to your East.

You can’t hear the debate on the boat, but you can see the body language clear as day. Most are arguing to go find and help. Some are saying it’s an obvious trap.

Vance looks to Clair to see if she can tell anything. She just shakes her head, looking frustrated.

Unless we can get the coast guard or rangers to deal with it, the group going is probably the safest bet if we are going.

And let's face it, even if it is a trap, we can probably muscle through it.
>>

Splitting the party is bad.
>>

He's past the point of no return, sadly. He developed hyperthyroidism about seven months ago and completely refused to let us treat it, no matter how we tried to get his medication in him. Even if we snuck it in, he'd just vomit.
So, he's pretty much been aging at 4x speed for that time, and he's 13 to start with. Even if he started taking the medicine, he's already burnt through his life expectancy and then some. Not in any pain yet, though.
I'm going to miss him, but I've already gone through this song and dance with three other cats, two dogs, and a frankly disturbing number of hamsters, so I'm not too broken up over it. Hell, I'm just happy he didn't get cancer like his mama did.

But that's enough of my blogshit, give us the pokemangs

Quick, does Levi know Dive? Because we could use it to approach underwater and take the initiative when we meet them. If they're legit, that's great, if it's a trap, we dive right back down while they're gawking at our MAJESTIC AS FUCK arrival and haul ass back.
>>
>>48542671

>>
>>48542752
Beats me. None of mine even survived long enough to reach old age.
Two got loose and suffered death by cat, one broke his neck by jamming his head through his exercise wheel while running on it, two of them cut their throats trying to squeeze through holes they gnawed in their cage, one rolled his hamster ball behind my brother's chair at the exact moment he flinched at something onscreen and fell over, and the last one decided she didn't like chewing on things, so she just let his teeth grow until punched through the roof of her mouth, punctured her eyeball, and caused it to swell up to triple the normal size before shriveling up and falling out.
I decided to give up on hamsters after that one.

“I’ll go alone!”

“What?” Vance shouts!

“I said I’ll go!”

“No! That’s a ter-”

Levi rear’s up and you change course.

You look back and see Clair and Vance just throwing up their arms in surrender. They know they won’t stop you. Apparently everyone else is willing to trust you on this. You did beat the Elite Four, after all.

Man. It feels weird to have trust you like that. Still. You’ve always gotten your way by having a silver tongue. Now it’s different. Now it’s respect.

You probably shouldn’t let that get to your head.

You see the boat in the distance. You don’t think you’ve been spotted, but you can’t be sure. It looks like a small fishing boat

You take out Destiny and explain the plan. She’ll follow underwater and act as backup if anything happens.

You grab on tight to Leviathan and dive. It’s harder than you expected to hold on. The drag is intense. But you’re stronger than most girls, and you can keep yourself close to Levi. You’re breath really starts running low, but not dangerously. You depend entirely on her to figure out when to surface.

Whoosh! You rise up into the air. Water drips down your eyes and your hair sticks to your face. You quickly wipe it back and get ready for trouble.

Levi was smart. She took the side of the boat that was facing the sun so that they’d get the sun if their eyes as they look at you.

A figure on the boat scrambles for a an electric net, but Levi roars and they fall back.

It’s a kid, maybe 12, 13 years old. He looks slightly relieved to see you on top of Levi. He knows she’s not wild now.

“Help! It’s my Psyduck!”

You peer over a bit and see a Psyduck laying on it’s back, breathing heavily. Wait. You know what’s wrong. “Is he poisoned?”

“Is that what happened? Can you help?” He sounds genuine, but how does a kid his age not know that? Maybe you’re just overthinking it.

You toss down an antidote. “Here. This will cure the poison.”

The kid looks at it for a second, blinking. “Oh. Uh. Thanks.” He picks it up and inspects the instructions on the back. You don’t want to be too impatient, but he’s taking forever.

He holds it up wrong and approaches his Psyduck.

“No. Kid. You gotta...yeah. Flip it around and...no, the other way. There we go.”

He awkwardly puts it to his Psyduck and there’s the usual soft sound of it being used. The Psyduck looks instantly relieved.

“Where are your parents?”

He glances up at you and puts his hand up to try to block the sun. “I uh... my dad told me to leave for Chloroville. There were a bunch of Team Imperium guys at the docks impounding all the boats.”

That’s a long way for a kid to be traveling alone. Especially this far out at sea.

You look down at his boat. He's got a few full cans of fuel and what looks like a decent amount of food when he reaches into a cooler to grab a poffin for Psyduck. His boat doesn't seem like it would last in anything beyond calm waters, though. The sea looks calm right now, but it's also that time of year where the storms roll through.

You debate internally for a long time. Eventually the kid breaks the silence.

“I’m Joey.”

“Kat,” you cautiously tell him. “Nice to meet you.”

He smiles. “Your gyarados looks really strong! It scared me.” He laughs. Levi tries to hide how proud she is to hear that.

“Come on. We have a big group. You shouldn’t be out this far alone. We can escort you to shore, and from there... we’ll figure it out.” He could probably just hug the coast or something, right?

“Uhh. My dad said not to trust anyone...but you helped Psyduck.. And if you wanted to hurt me...” he leaves the rest unsaid. “Okay. I’ll follow!”

You let him know to keep a decent distance, just in case. The one thing he seems good at is navigating the boat. He follows you back.

Robin rushes at you when you get about halfway back.

Crap. She looks worried. You hold up your hands to let her know everything’s okay. She doesn’t slow down, though. She leaps off her Gyarados and hugs you, but she also gives you that upset look. You stop yourself from telling her it’s adorable the way her cheeks are puffing out.

After a few apologies, she lets the issue drop. Robin isn’t the type to keep pressing an issue.

Geno motions that he’d like to speak to you and Robin privately. You hop off your Gyarados’s

“You can’t do that. Both of you. I aware of the difficulty of leaving anybody that might be in trouble. Nobody wants that on their conscience. But we’re a team. You know what the first thing people were asking when they saw you coming back? They asked how we could know if you hadn’t been turned.”

Geno lectures Robin on the same thing. He says she should have delegating fetching you to someone else. A leader needs to be more detached. “And like I said, it doesn’t help with people’s trust.”

“Clair could scan us,” you suggest. A psychic Pokemon could too, but from what you’ve been told before, Pokemon aren’t the best at picking up oddities in a person’s head. Unless they know them well, everything about the human’s mind seems odd to them.

Geno leans out to invite Clair into your little huddle.

“Yeah yeah. Hold onto your panties.” She looks at you and you feel that little tingle in your head. She nods, then turns to Robin and repeats.

You can see bags under Clair’s eyes. She holds her head and pops a headache pill.

The group is insisting on checking out Joey’s boat. It’s mostly about making sure a kid out here is okay, but they also want to be sure this isn’t some weird trap. Nobody admits to that second part, though. Turns out he’s probably the only kid in the world that doesn’t really know much about the championship.

The group gets underway again. You ride for the next few hours, taking quick breaks for the Pokemon to rest, and food. After the novelty of riding a Pokemon on the open sea has worn off long ago, you finally reach the coast. It’s a small secluded cabin on the beach. Apparently the summer home of a friend of Brook’s. He’s not home, but Brook insists he wouldn’t mind.

The group decides to hold up here for the night, including the kid.

Everyone starts settling in. There are a lot of plans to be made, but that’s tomorrow morning’s problem. The group wants to be well rested. They set up the portable PC in case anyone wants to swap Pokemon.

We can do both of these things.

She can meditate with her pokemon and they can help her while we do this.

Also, getting Fel and Oberon now we're on shore seems like a good idea. Give Levi a rest for certain though.

Clair secured for herself one of the beds. You and Robin both agree that it looks big enough for the three of you.

You pull up next to Clair and hand her a cup of green tea. She looks like she’s been awake for a few days.

“If you’re trying to get into my pants, I’m going to warn you now that it isn’t going to happen.”

“Shh. Relax.” You start massaging her shoulders. She reluctantly melts.

“How are you feeling?”

She sighs. “I know I look like garbage. Is everyone else talking about it?”

That’s telling. She hasn’t just been reading minds. “Not that I know of.” You lay her down and work on her feet instead. “You didn’t answer the question.”

“Mmm. Better now. But It’s like I pulled a brain muscle. Hornbeam...he’s got way more power than he knows what to do with. I don’t even know the upper limits. Him and Mewtwo. It’s like seeing two towers that stretch into the sky farther than you can see. You know it has to end somewhere, but you’re too busy trying to figure out how it can be possible to guess.”

You ask if she’ll get better. She says she thinks so. Resting helps.

She falls asleep with a smile. Robin eventually comes to bed, looking stressed from people asking her questions. But she’s able to relax now too.

You wake up the next morning feeling great. There’s something about having a blanket made out of cute girls that perks up your mood.

There’s a lively debate in the main room as everyone packs up. The group is trying to decide the best course of action. There’s apparently a pharmacy a day’s walk away that might have that drug that blocks psychics. There’s also a small power station in the opposite direction that might have some of that metal that blocks it too. Others are saying that both are too far. Someone else says the group should split up taking the truck and fast Pokemon, and meet up with both after.

Eventually, Sid drags you into it. “What do you think?”

>The pharmacy, drugs for all, but you’d need to time it for when you’re expecting trouble
>The power station. Enough metal for a few helmets, but not enough for everyone
>Both. We should be prepared
>Neither, every wasted hour could be disaster
>>

>Both. We should be prepared

It's a bit risky, but it's also got the biggest pay off.

Geno and you could probably lift the drugs while everyone else went for the metal.

“Do you think Hornbeam knows about these places?”

Alex holds his...or her...chin. “Maybe. The power plant would be more obscure. You’d need to be up to date on that sort of thing. The pharmacy is more obvious, but not all pharmacies carry it. It’s not a common drug to stock.”

“It’s a small town pharmacy. He’s probably much more concerned about securing major city warehouses.”

“Yeah, except he probably knows we can only land at so many locations. I bet he’d want to keep an eye on anything between him and us.”

“That’s if he even knows we’ve left yet. And it’s a big coast. We could be anywhere.”

The group erupts into another debate.

“I think we should do both.” You shout.

“She’s right. It might take a little longer, and I hate splitting the group, but we need everything we can get.”

Emma stands up and gestures to Robin. “Now that you’d heard everyone’s opinion, what are your orders?”

Robin tries not to let the pressure of all these experienced trainers get to her. Her Sylveon gently rubs against her leg. “I agree. We should do both. We’ll s-split up, and meet back here.” She wipes away a bead of sweat. “Emma, you’ll lead the pharmacy group. Vernon, you’ll lead the power station group. Take Jayce.” She points to the electric gym leader.

“What about the kid, Joey?” Alex has been talking to him. Joey is supposed to go to Chloroville to meet his aunt. He doesn’t know if she’s expecting him, though. He apparently really wants to join the group, though.

Eyes fall on you. The group seems to agree that it’s your responsibility since you went to find him.

“He should probably go to his aunts. That’s what his dad told him to do.”

There are no objections. You go find Joey waiting outside and explain the situation. He seems a bit disappointed, but he takes it well. You spend a good amount of time giving him advice on Pokemon care. He tells you that he never left on a journey like most of his friends. He decided to stick with his dad and work on the boat before going back to school.

“And remember to keep the coast on your right!”

He stops before heading onto his boat. “Can you promise me something?”

“What is it?”

“Promise you won’t let them hurt anybody else.”

“I can’t promise that. I wish I could, but I can’t. I will stop him, though.”

“I...okay. Thanks.” He knows you’re right. It’s unrealistic. But that doesn’t make it easier. You wonder if he saw something that got to him, or if he’s just worried. Either way, you can’t help but feel for him a little.

You and Levi watch as he leaves around the bend. After that. you get back to the group. Everyone’s just about ready to go to their target. You know that going off on your own to help him probably wasn’t the wisest move, but you hope he’ll remember this when he’s older and tell his kids or something.

Clair gives you a pat on the shoulder. She still looks rough, but she’s light years better than last night. She slept well. “Disappointing inexperienced people that are trying to get in over their heads. Gee, I wonder what that’s like.”

“Clair!” Robin admonishes. “Don’t be mean.”

Clair just rolls her eyes. “I’m trying to be supportive by telling her I know how it feels.”

“W-well your tone didn’t-”

“Oh my Arceus just bang already!” Alex passes between them with a box he’s taking to the truck. “I mean again. For like the millionth time probably this week. Even I think this is too much tension.”

Aria, who's been having a blast entertaining the group, comes floating back to you.

You look to Robin to see what group you’re going with.

“It’s up to you. E-each group already has the essential skills, so...”

The pharmacy group is smaller. Everyone in that crowd is riding Pokemon. The one truck is going with the larger power station group. They’ll have a heavier load and have to travel a little farther.

Nice.

Thought just struck me, but with Hornbeam's little power fetish, would he try and humiliate Violet somehow?

Those two are a match made in hell in terms of motivations, charisma and competence, so maybe something with Hornbeam trying to get to Violet and being foiled at every turn?

Not necessarily lewd, but humorous almost?
>>
>>48547561
He'd make her eat Magikarp meat, which Violet would hate because she's pokevegan.

She's also somewhat hypocritical and-

Oh wait, that's regular vegan.

Hmm...

I still feel the idea has merit, just depends on the approach.

Guess Clair needs to concentrate less on how high the towers are, and more on how strong are the foundations to make them collapse.
