“Alright everyone, listen up!” Griselda addresses you all from the top of Janus. “A couple of announcements to make. First off, we have a new crew! They are the Light Music Club!” The Light Music Club is welcomed with their own tent in the campground, and they are applauded politely by the rest of the teams here as well. “Secondly, we have new details about the exhibition match between Lafayette Girls Academy and… Lafayette Girls Academy.” A few girls snicker here and there at Griselda’s fumble.

“So here’s the deal, it will be fifteen tanks on fifteen, elimination!” Griselda says. “It’ll be held on Saturday, battlefield map will be pending. ITL vs. NATO. Any questions?” Everyone raises their hand. “And yes, I am aware of the fact we don’t actually have fifteen tanks or crews. My sister, being gracious, allowing us to borrow crews and tanks from other teams willing to help us. So yeah. Everyone good? Great.” She claps her hands. “We’re in business.”

You sigh. Last night was spent trying to deflect every mindless bit of speculation between you and the Jeep Jockey. Just because a boy takes you to a concert and drives you home doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve tied the knot. It’s a good thing you didn’t obey the romantic comedies and gave him a kiss on the first date or else they’d NEVER let you live it down. Dear Christ.

You’re tried, plum and straight tired. You’re actually tempted to use up a vacation day today but…

You decide it best to head to work for now. You call up Denise and await her at the side of the road. The Churchill tank belonging to the Etiquette Club rolls by you, heading onto the road and sending the Etiquette Club to wherever they’re going. You fold your arms, waiting.

Then you see Denise coming down, with lights and sirens. Her Kettenkrad has been repainted black and white. And Denise herself is now wearing the Kevlar vest, white blouse, and blue miniskirt with black spats underneath along with fingerless gloves, aviator sunglasses, and to top it all off: a helmet with a police light on top of it. She smiles at you. “What’s up!?” she yells.

You blink. “Why are you yelling?”

“The light is very loud and I forgot to put my ear plugs in!” she says bluntly. “I might be going deaf from this!” You reach over to her dashboard, and turn the siren off. “Thank you!”

Oh boy. Gonna be one of those days.

“You know, Denise.” Hilda places your work on your desk, a huge stack of papers, how original. She walks on over to Denise as she listens intensely to the police scanner now mounted on her desk. “Just because Elodie asked you to help the Hall Monitors doesn’t mean you have to go full snitch.”

“I’m not a snitch,” says Denise. “The Hall Monitors say I’m more of a booby.” Oh fuck. You snicker a little. Denise looks over. “What?”

“Nothing,” you say quickly. Oh god, how did that get you?

“Cash for the team?” asks Hilda.

“Yeah,” you say. You file through the reports that you’re signing off on. “We still have plenty of tanks now, but it’d be nice to get some cash for the team to restore the Jackson and the Stridsvagn. Plus, I imagine more money is needed for an engine for the Jagdtiger.”

“I see.” Hilda nods. “I’ll make it so.”

Denise squints at Hilda a bit. “By the way, Hilda. Where exactly do you get this money from?”

“I know people,” she says. Denise nods slowly, now in full detective mode as she tips her aviators down and glares at Hilda. “What? I do. It’s not because I’m Jewish or anything.” Nobody brought up that fact but okay.

You receive a ping on your Officer’s Pad. You pull it up and look at it.

The doors open into the expansion area below decks, Block B. You, Denise, and Hilda walk up to a very dirty and messed up looking fourth rate Officer, whose uniform is cut up, muddied, and showing some bits of underwear as well. “OH THANK GOD YOU’RE HERE!” Her high visibility jacket and helmet at least appear to be in order. She grabs you by the arms, fear in her eyes. “THEY’RE STARK RAVING MAD!”

“Relax,” you gently push her away as you say that. “It can’t be that-“

A block of dirt explodes onto the wall next to you. You look forward to see the extent of it. This particular area was supposed to be an expansion for the farms for Agriculture.

Instead, the construction crew was turning it into a flatout party. The trucks hauling dirt were racing around the outer edges of the area, the diggers in the center were spinning around, with girls in the claws! Huge amounts of dust and mud were being thrown up all over the place! And bulldozers were knocking over carefully placed materials and items, with girls in the dozer basket as well enjoying themselves.

… How the fuck did it come to this? The Officer shudders. “I don’t know!”

“How did it come to this?” you ask. She looks scared to answer. “Answer me.”

“Fine! I told them that we could have a party and mess around with some of the vehicles when we were finished but uh… we finished our shift early and they ended up going overboard.” Clearly.

> Get on a loudspeaker and threaten to NJP them all.

“Denise.” She hands you a loudspeaker. You go and find the tallest place to stand from, a truck that has been turned on its side by some rowdy construction workers. You climb up, turn the loudspeaker on, and give them what for. “Attention workers of Shift 406! Cease your actions now or face non-judicial punishment!” They continue being rowdy and rambunctious, the diggers now beginning to joust and punch at each other like lazy cats. “Again, attention workers of Shift 406! This is Lieutenant Zumwalt!”

And at that, they immediately stop what they’re doing. All the dirty and crazy looking construction workers poke their heads out of their trucks, dozers, diggers, cranes and whatever holes they’re hanging out of to look at you. “Yes, it’s me,” you declare. “Stop messing around or I guarantee the NJP will be the merciful option for you.”

They immediately file out of their vehicles and hurry to stand at attention in front of you. Wow. You uh… you didn’t think that’d work.

Are they that scared of you?

They stand at attention, some covered in dirt and dust, several with mud splattered on their goggles and helmets, and almost all of them wearing their uniforms wrong (miniskirts hiked up, work blouses open to reveal tanktops underneath, shorts instead of skirts, etc.) What an absolute sideshow.

The shift leader comes up to you. “H-… how did you do that?”

You place your hands on your hips. “It’s not about what I did. It’s about what you’re doing, or rather what you’re not doing.” The shift leader blinks. “What’s your name?”

“E-… Ensign Carver, Hadley Carver.”

“Ensign Carver.” You poke her in the chest, sternly addressing her like a strict mother to a child. “You failed in your duties to discipline your workers, you lost complete control of them and allowed a situation to develop that could’ve gotten someone hurt, and even before that you attempted to bribe them with an unnecessary reward that again could’ve gotten property damaged or someone seriously injured.” Her lip quivers a bit, and she looks down in grief. “Do you have anything to say for yourself?”

“… no,” she mutters.

You sigh, then look to her workers, who all guiltily look around. “Don’t be guilty for her. Be guilty for yourselves. You all could’ve done serious damage to LGA property or gotten someone killed. You’re lucky it was me that was sent down to discipline you all. Captain Spruance would not be so kind.”

Ensign Carver nods slowly. “We’re sorry.”

You grumble a little. These girls could use a bit of discipline. But that could really take some time out of your day.

“Listen Carver, I’m not going to baby you or anything. This is your shift, not mine. I’m not supposed to be micromanaging you. I can stick around and watch you try and get your stuff together, but I can’t do things for you. You got that?”

Carver nods. “Of course!”

“Good.” You fold your arms. “First task of the day. Cleaning all this shit up.” All the workers groan at the sound of that. “Hey! If you didn’t want to clean up, then don’t make the mess!” They shut themselves up. “Get yourself sorted, Carver.”

Carver raises her hand, making herself visible. “Alright y’all! Grab some brooms, dustpans, and some trucks. We’re cleaning this dirt up!”

-

-

You stayed for a little while to make sure that Carver was doing her job properly. The expansion area was supposed to be ready by tonight, but thanks to her shift’s antics, it’s likely it won’t be complete until Saturday. Carver already said she’ll take the full brunt of the punishment in place of her crew, considering it was mostly her fault they got out of control.

She salutes you when you leave. “Thank you very much, Lieutenant! I won’t forget you!”

You know, you’re pretty sure you’re one of the few freshman officers on the ship, if not the ONLY one. How is an upperclassman like her suddenly so deferential to you?

You ride on Oliver’s top with Stack and Winona as Josephina and Ingrid sit up front. Everyone went out for a bit of early dinner before practice, which meant that they had bags of food on hand for you to enjoy. Everything from poutine, to orange slices, and everything in between. “So how was work?” asks Stack.

“It went fine, had to control a pretty rowdy gang of workers,” you say. “But it went well all things considered. You?”

Stack shrugs. “Eh, I went fishing today.”

Winona turns over to Stack. “Stack, I noticed that you don’t seem to go to work that often, are you just blowing all of your vacation days at once?”

“Yep!” she says.

“We’re in the middle of summer though, you’re going to want those from the dog days in the winter,” you say. “I hear they get brutal.”

“Hey, I do declare that what I am doing is sound! It’s summer, it’s time to relax and goof off!” says Stack. “All y’all are just being factious!”

“You mean facetious,” you say. “And that’s not even the right word.”

“Huh? What?” She looks up at Stack. “Oh, yeah, yeah, I guess.”

“You guys are going running tonight?” you ask. “Why?”

“Ingrid wants to get STRONGER!” Stack pumps her arms, flexing for you.

“Oh, fuck off, I just want to not vomit after a quarter mile of running!” yells Ingrid.

“Alright, everyone, today’s an exercise day!” The entire Tankery team was now dressed in PT gear. Thankfully, it seemed that Miss McPherson wouldn’t be sending you on a marathon run. Now, it seemed that she was taking a backseat to allow Griselda to do practice for the day. “Let’s all stretch and limber up! Stack! Lead us on!”

Stack steps forward, smiling at everyone. “Alrighty, y’all! Let’s limber up or I guarantee y’all are gonna die out there!” To be frank, you are perfectly aware of why one needs to limber and stretch before getting into a tank and sitting down for possibly hours at a time. That in itself is tiring, sometimes the situation demands you have to get up quickly and run without proper preparation.

After a few minutes of basic leg and arm stretches, everyone defaulted to swinging their bodies around, taking high steps, or doing push ups. Griselda met with you during that. “Ellie. Can I ask a quick favor of you before we go outside?”

Ugh, here we go. “Jeep Jockey doesn’t fly the planes, he just drives the jeep.”

I'm sure they're all welcome to come and watch, but all of them is impractical. We have 9-10 crews so we'd only be taking on an additional 5 or 6, 2 tanks from each is a nice show of solidarity, but it risks making the team a jumble of different capabilities, not to mention languages and doctrines.

Somewhat, both focus on defensive early games and Kursk favours ambushes as we do, but Gloriana matches our pace (in terms of timing, though since they seem to use some Meteor engined Crusaders they can also keep up with Oliver) and tendency to counter attack on the back of a strong tendency better, while Kursk is more prone to drawing things out and only making an offensive strike after long harassment and whittling down of the enemy team.

“Why not both Kursk and St. Gloriana?” you ask. “They’re here, I’m sure they brought their tanks too.”

“What about ZES?”

You shrug. “What about them?”

“Fair.” Griselda folds her arms. “Alright, I’ll see what I can do.” She points to your butt. “Keep that ass firm, Ellie.” She pats it gently. FUCKING WHAT WHO SAID SHE COULD- She smiles happily at you, walking away.

AUGH, what is it with people and invading your comfy zone. If Griselda were a boy, you’d kill him on the spot.

But regardless, once the stretching was done, it was time for the ultimate exercise of them all.

Replacing tracks and wheels. Miss McPherson stands atop one of the tanks. “Alright everyone, you’re going to replace a broken track and a thrown wheel from your tanks. Team that gets their track up first and gets their tank back into the hangar wins.”

Serafina raises her hand. “What do we win?” Miss McPherson points out to the horizon.

Out there is a circling group of warplanes ready to splatter you all with paint.

Ah, yeah. That’s a good enough to work quickly.

“Ready, steady, go!” You all charge your tanks. Seeing as how the Jagdtiger doesn’t have an engine, the Light Music Club watches from a safe distance. “Alright, Ellie! Call out what you’re doing!”

Right, right. You need to replace the broken track links, you need to get the road wheel in. There are three track links to put in, new road wheel uh…

Have Ingrid stand by with tools, bolts etc. We do the heavy lifting, she does the speed work.

Stack and Winonna are ready with tracks and pins. Once the wheel is on, we'll get more tracks and pins.

I honestly know jack about fixing vehicles, so I'm guessing based on what the thing looks like, and stuff I've picked up from tank-related quests.

Also, be ready to pic-related when someone else fixes their tank first.

And get the Light Music team under cover

>> You’ll fix the road wheel in.

Tracks are pretty easy to replace and pin, re-affixing a road wheel is more complex and tiring work, involving attaching a central bolt to the axle and then several smaller ones to that, even with relatively simple christie suspension ones. The Delinquents are going to have a bad time with the Tiger II's to say the least. Stack's our most experienced crew member and also our most physically capable, so she'll probably be best used on that.
>>
> You’ll fix the road wheel in.

“Help me fix the road wheel in, Stack!” She nods. You and her heft the spare road wheel off the back of the tank and drop it down to the ground. She drops down, then squats and grabs the wheel by the edge. She lifts it up, then rolls it down. You hurry down with a toolbox and then quickly begin working on the axle.

As Ingrid, Winona, and Josephina fumble around with the track links, you can hear the sound of planes getting closer. “Jesus Christ!” yells Winona. “We’re going to get pasted by paint!”

“No we’re not!” you yell.

The other crews are still fumbling and messing around with trying to fix their track, apparently ignoring the issue of the road wheel. The only team that really realizes this is Griselda’s, owing to her experience (and the fact that the Sherman doesn’t really use roadwheels per say, but easily replaceable but incredibly heavy HVSS bogies.)

With the road wheel in place, you begin screwing it into place. As you’re doing that, Winona and Ingrid get to fixing the pins in place.

Suddenly, the Sherman’s engine starts, followed shortly by the Churchill. “Shit!” yells Ingrid. “They’re gonna move off!”

“We’re going to cut down by the planes!” screams Winona. “We’re not ready!”

“No we’re not!” you yell. You climb up onto the turret, then take a stand in the commander’s hatch and swivel the .50 around. “I’ll buy us some time!” You load in a belt of paint rounds, then rack the bolt. “Here we go!”

With the Sherman and the Churchill retreating, all the other crews get scrambling to get their tracks together. However, in just a few seconds, the boys come crashing down. Their paint rounds start splattering all across the ground, surprising everyone and sending a panic through the ranks. “COWARDS!” yells Regina Taney. “YOUR TANKS WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU IF YOU ABANDON THEM!”

“Regina is right!” yells Serafina. “Get the tanks fixed or die trying!” The Polish all chant in Polish as they hurriedly fix their track links in place.

You lift the barrel of the .50 up and fire away at the planes. The paint rounds trace through the sky, tracking after their P-40s and Lockheed Hudsons. You even manage to score a few hits here and there. But nothing too serious. It seems they get the message to take evasive maneuvers, flying up and away, or diving down low.

Extremely low. One of the P-40s buzzes perilously close down above your tanks, only feet away from clipping the trees. You decide to try and shoot him down. You fire away at him as he flies away, and you do splatter a good amount of paint on his wings. Such that white smoke pops out of the damaged area. He starts wiggling his wings, flying off and away.

Huh, did you shoot him down or not?

“Track’s fixed!” yells Winona. “Go, go!” Josephina starts reversing the tank, allowing enough speed for everyone to climb back on as it happens. She turns it around, then hurries inside the hangar.

Almost everyone is covered in paint except for the Sherman, the Churchill, and your tank surprisingly enough. In fact, despite shooting up some of the planes with your .50, it seems there’s not a single fleck of paint on your tank or your crewmates whatsoever. “Hmph!” Stack turns her nose up proudly. “I think they know we won’t be privy to them theirs paintery!” says Stack.

“That wasn’t even comprehensible,” Ingrid says quickly.

“Sure, we can go,” you say. You decide to hurry and chug some water to rehydrate. Before you leave however, you see Ingrid piling on all the stuff that she had to bring the last time Miss McPherson had you on that marathon. “Ingrid, what are you doing?”

Stack shrugs at her while Ingrid silently lifts the Thompson up and slings it on her back. “She said she wanted to bring all that with her.”

“You sure?” you ask.

“I’m fine,” says Ingrid, clearly struggling to even stand under the weight of it all. “I just need you guys to keep me balanced.”

Well, okay then.

The three of you set out. You decide to keep light pace, behind Ingrid while Stack sticks next to Ingrid to motivate her. “Come on, Ingrid! Hustle! I got cows back home that can run faster than you!” yells Stack.

You run up alongside Stack. “When did Ingrid ask for this?” you ask.

“A week ago,” she says. “I told her I’d think about it.” Ingrid continues to run, heedless of the conversation taking place next to her. “Tell ya something though, I’m real proud of her. She’s really putting in some effort, unlike some folks who just want everything handed to them.”

“Yeah, I guess,” you say. You can agree with that sentiment. You’ve met plenty of spoiled brats in middle school. Those little squirrely fucks who think that the world owes them something just for existing. “You think the rest of the team would want to do something like this with you? Maybe you could bring the other loaders on your morning workouts?”

Stack smirks, thinking on it. “I could! That sounds like fun to be honest, I’d finally have a running buddy! Heck, Roy Hobbs over here could join us too!”

“Fuck you, Stack!” Ingrid quips back.

After some time running, you manage to make it to the checkpoint in the Mount Montagne wilderness. As Ingrid starts forward, you and Stack bring up the rear, cooling down with a lighter jog. “Ellie, can I tell you something?”

“Sure,” you say.

“I gotta say…” Stack smiles a little, rubbing her hands together. “It’s real nice having a crew like you guys. Middle School wasn’t exactly uh… fun for me I suppose.” Really?

“How so?”

Stack shrugs. “Well, my last commander was one of those types, that one that always wanted to win. That type that was never enough if she didn’t win, you know? I mean, winning is great, having a trophy to remember it by is great too! And fuck, nobody wants a participation award but… yeah.”

“Well, my Mom and Dad always taught me to cherish every victory I get,” you explain. “There weren’t very many up until now.”

Stack smiles at that. “Well, your Mom and Pop have got good heads on their shoulders.” Yeah, except for the teenage pregnancy part. But you’re not going to tell Stack that. “Cherish every victory you get, cuz there ain’t gonna be many…”

You look at Stack, and notice her face has gotten kind of solemn. “Is something wrong Stack?”

Stack slows down a bit, letting Ingrid get further and further out of earshot. “Can I uh… can I tell you something that I don’t tell most people?”

Stack shakes her head. “God no, I don’t care about living in their shadow. I-…” She stops up, and you quickly stop as well. You look ahead to see Ingrid continuing to run without you two, apparently not noticing you’re gone. “I look up to them so dearly. I have them to thank for getting me into Tankery, I have them to thank for getting me onto LGA despite my low grades and everything but… I’m not them. I don’t think I’ll ever be them you know, and I think deep down it kills them inside, knowing that they have a little runt for a little sister like me. “Oh, Stack.” You place your hands on your hips. “Stack, that’s not true, you’re not a runt.”

She shrugs at that. “Compared to them I am. I just- you know, they’re in the Professional Leagues, they’re on TV, they get to have interviews with big wig journalists and get awards for all their hard work, and I look at that, and I say, ‘damn, I want that’.” She bites her lip a bit. “And I know they want that for me too. You are a damn good loader. You are the backbone of a team. You need to know how to do everything on a crew. Commanders just have to look good and point at things.

Its not glorious, but I'll be damned if matches aren't lost because of slow loaders, or stupid ones.

If your sisters aren't proud of you, then they've lost track of the team, and started thinking of themselves as what wins matches. And that is not Senshado.

>>
>>49049495
No, applique is just extra armour welded onto the top of things. What you're thinking of is Zimmerit, which doesn't stop sticky bombs, but magnetic AT limpet mines (like the Panzerknacker). Only the Germans used it during the war though the British did experiment with it on a number of tanks in 1946. But that photo has a couple yanks on the back of it, which makes me think it might've been taken during Market Garden, though the US troops aren't paras (no jump boots), they could be Glider troops, who I think got regular infantry gear in the US army.

> Visit Griselda in her tent

You open Griselda’s tent to find her changing into her underwear. “Oh, Griselda, I-“

“Come on, we’re all girls.” She motions you in as she throws her shirt towards her cot. You bite your lip a bit, trying not to stare at her pretty pink bra and panties. She bends over to open her footlocker, pulling a nightgown out. “What’s up, Ellie?”

“Oh, just… wondering how you were doing,” you say. You sit in her chair in front of her desk. On the desk you can see a load of reference charts, photos of tanks, the works. It appears Griselda is in the midst of studying Hugo Gernsback School for the Arts. “I gotta say, I’m impressed with how you managed to replace the bogie and the tracks in today’s practice.”

“Eh, it was pretty easy,” she says. “Any idiot can replace volute spring suspension road bogie with a bit of time and practice. That’s how they designed the Shermans.” Yeah, you suppose.

“Yeah, but… there’s only three of you.”

She sighs. “You’re here to ask why my crew is understrength, right?” You shrug. “Well, it’s really not much of a secret. Athena and Tessa left after the incident last year where we got sniped by Kursk. Semi-finals, flag tank, that stuff. It’s a shame, Athena was a really elite loader and Tessa would spend ages researching each and every tank. Great co-driver too with Luisa, the two of them were almost inseparable up to that point.”

“I see.” You lean back. “Are they still around?”

“Yeah, they’re Naval Studies, they’re why I hang around with Naval Studies a lot,” she says. “Athena is Engineering, Tessa is Command and Control, she actually works up in the Command Tower with Captain Spruance.” Really? Hm. “I do miss them sometimes.”

“Why did they leave?” you ask.

Griselda sighs. “I dunno.” She shrugs, then sits on her bed. “But, I do fine with Luisa and Yuno. You know, Yuno gave up the chance to go to Kuromorimine or Saint Gloriana. She didn’t just want to attend LGA, she wanted to join my crew. It always disappointed me losing the match that close to a world championship, not just… you know but think of Yuno, you know?”

“Yeah.”

Griselda waves it off. “I’m rambling.” She points to the desk. “I’ve been uh… researching Hugo Gernsback for the week after next when get off the off week. Rosehip and Orange Pekoe say they’re going to come and participate. We’ll be sure to welcome them in the morning, okay?” You nod. “Great. Did you want to bunk up with me or…?”

You shake her off. “No, I’m gonna take off, Griselda, thanks though.”

She nods, smiling at you. “Alright, Ellie. You have a good night, alright?”

“Night, Griselda.” You step out of the tent and look around. You see the historians gathered around the fire, with Patton playing the harmonica as they stare ominously into the flames, except for Giap who slurps up a bowl of pho. You wonder what they’re up to, but decide better of it and head back to your tent.

There, you see Ingrid, Stack, Winona, and Josephina crowded around the iPad again, watching another movie. “What are you watching this time?” You slip into your sleeping bag.

“We’re watching Saving Private Ryan.” Winona sniffles a little, as does Josephina, Stack, and even Ingrid looks like she’s on the verge of tears. “Oh God, the part where Ryan’s mom gets the telegrams, that always gets me.”

You blink. “Why?” They all stare at you as if you’re crazy. “I mean I never watched it so-“

Winona hits the pause button. “Get ready to watch it then.”

“But-“ She reverses the movie all the way back to the start. “Um. Alright.”

Well, guess you’re watching a movie to end the night then. What’s so good about Saving Private Ryan anyway? You do remember your parents not letting you see it when you were a kid, but that was because they said the movie was a bit too violent for you (you were about five at the time).

Well, guess another movie to watch then.

Good thread Schteel. Looking forward to whenever our next thread is.

Really hope that all four schools are still here and active for the skills summit. Maybe we can show up Zhou Enlai and their scouting asses in a race. Drifting and puddles are involved.

so German is the long barrel 75mm Swedish gun legal for tannery?
>>
>>49051018
I think he's gone m8, but it falls into the required time period, existing prior to April 45. Though if anyone could trck down some good data on its ammo and pen I'd be very appreciative.
>>
>>49051131
what was the model?

Bofors m/43 7.5cm L/54 I think.

Anyluck on your end

Nope, I'm on my phone at the moment though, had to pop out to do some odd jobs. Will resume my search when I get home and maybe hit up some of my Swedish mates to look for sources in Swedish.

mostly stuff I've already seen before. The gun I'm interested in is in there, called the Pvkn m/43, but no references to its actual performance. Thanks anyway anon, I'll try to have something by next session.
>>
>>49052580
should we get the auto loader? I think the conventional format would be better.
>>
>>49052610
If the autoloader works in this universe it'd be nice but apparently the irl one was a bit of a dumpster fire, so conventional seems a better choice.
>>
>>49052780
So LMC will use the Jackson for the match on Saturday since that will be the one avaiable for saturday?
>>
>>49052833
Depends, the JT is basically up to spec except for missing its engine according to Schteel so it might actually be ready for the match. Personally I think the Jackson's a better vehicle but if the JT's ready by then it might be better to have them in a thing they already know their way around and are comfortable in, even if it's just having basically lived in it previously.
>>
>>49053150
but they never handed or actually moved the JT though, so they have to start from square one.
>>
>>49053189
Yeah, it's not perfect but no matter what they're in they'll be struggling with this match, so might as well get them started on the tank they'll be using going forward. Even if it is the closest thing to a physical manifestation of concept of mechanical failure to ever break down upon this Earth. Of course it won't matter either way if it's not ready for the match, and if it isn't we'll put them in the Jackson for sure. Besides for all it's flaws, the JT will let us deal with even the heaviest tanks Trude has from a range in excess of a kilometer.
>>
>>49053323
What was wrong with the JT? I know the engine was underpowered but as a mobile pillbox, it's fine as a artillery tank
>>
>>49053382
Its suspension was overloaded so its gearbox, engine and tracks often failed during operation, either when driving or even just while turning the vehicle, especially on slopes, and maintenance especially in the field was difficult, as was the norm amongst German heavies.
>>
>>49053445
Yeah but the gun itself makes moving a non issue. Does it?
>>
I'm going to make a game about girls and panzer and it's going to be awesome.
>>
>>49053505
Only if the enemy is obliging enough to drive straight at you, or you engage at extreme enough ranges to reduce the amount your gun needs to move, which is something you should do provided you're a good enough shot. The gun traverse was so narrow thanks to the ungodly huge 128mm Pak 44/80 that it was very hard to track targets moving across your front, meaning that a smart enemy will force you to turn to keep them in your sights, throwing off your aim and leaving you vulnerable to outflanking.
>>
>>49053526
There's one already in development here: panzervor.tk maybe you could try getting in touch with them if you're serious. Otherwise good luck anon, put LGA in it.
>>
>>49053546
yeah but isn't that why we have the other case mate TDs to support it?
>>
>>49053595
Yeah, that doesn't mean it isn't a deeply flawed vehicle, just that we're doing our best to cover those and leverage its advantages. Which is exactly what we should be doing.
>>
>>49053595
If it gets out flanked then the gun is useless even if the tank isn't knocked out. Too much time and effort to move it.

Best use would be area denial. Get it into a nice place with big open ranges and just sit there patiently. Either bait people into its sights or just have it as insurance.
>>
>>49053636
Thats the idea.

>>49053617
How about the Su-100 and the other new tanks?
>>
>>49053636
Yeah, pretty much this, you put a JT somewhere back from the lines, with good sightlines (it had excellent optics for all its other flaws) covering a likely chokepoint or avenue of attack for enemy heavies (think roads, ravines, river crossings and the like) and suddenly the enemy can no longer take that route, because it has just become a field for them to suffer 12.8cm death hurtling towards them from over a kilometer out. The thing has 200mm of penetration at 1000m against 30 degree angled RHA. Of course a smart enemy will make use of recce to spot your huge fat superheavy TD trying to disguise itself as a shrub or perhaps more like a small copse of trees and just not go that way, but that means you can essentially ignore that chokepoint, one way or the other.

>>49053678
The SU-100 is a solid tank destroyer with an excellent gun, good speed with moderately effective armour(will bounce most mediums at decent engagement ranges) and a very sneaky low profile. It suffers from its very low gun mount though, meaning it cant use its good speed very well off flat terrain without risking smashing its gun into the ground and breaking it. Jpanther is a similar deal, a bit bigger with a slightly higher gun mount though it can still be a problem in hilly country if you don't take it slow, it's also not quite as fast (only by a couple of kph though) but has slightly better armour. The Jpanther and SU-100 are generally very similar TDs, the SU-100 being in many ways the Soviet response to the Jagdpanther.

As for the regular Panther there's probably not much I need to tell you. Early models are incredibly unreliable, later models are just regular unreliable, they have awful side armour and all the ammo is stored right next the thinnest parts, but a scary good gun, good crew ergonomics (except for the radio and radio operator who get squeezed into a ridiculously small space and can barely do their job) and good frontal armour while maintaining its mobility.
>>
>>49053787
didn't they fix the turret design for it though?
>>
>>49053820
The Panther? I can't think of what you're referring to, but none of the problems I pointed out were tied to the turret. It's not a bad tank, in fact it's a pretty great tank when its working, it just does have weaknesses even aside from mechanical function. It also suffers very badly from spalling (most German vehicles do, even those without Face Hardened armour as even German RHA was harder than Allied equivalent).
>>
>>49053885
I think they were making a new variant of the Panther iirc, one of them is legal iirc.
>>
>>49053923
Do you mean the Panther Ausf. F with the Schmalturm?
>>
>>49054002
I think so, its been a while/
>>
>>49054020
It's a potential upgrade down the line and should be legal, but it doesn't really add too much over a regular Ausf. G especially considering the expense or acquiring/making a Schmalturm.
>>
>>49054072
Perhaps but it is up to the crew. I think the new turet might be worth it.
>>
>>49054114
Yeah, it's a long way down the line anyway.
