Welcome back, Kestrels, to the fifty-fourth installment of Mecha Space Pirate Quest. As always, I am Wong, your host. Today you are once again Admiral Roarke S. Starwind of the Iron Kestrels.

Today is a special day for reasons that will be revealed later in the evening.

Today is a big day for you. You're going on air after lunch, to make several announcements to the public, a few of which at least might shock the populace of the solar system. Nonetheless, you wake up bright and early, go for a long run, exercise, enjoy a good breakfast, and make your way to the mech bay. After all, you're curious about how the Knuckle Kaiser is coming along.

>once again Admiral Roarke S. Starwind
Fucking awesome
>>
As you can see, we're having a little diversion before the interview. This is intentional, it gives you time to get together the points you want to make during the interview, arguments, and particularly impressive lines. It's always good to get your story straight. For instance, I noticed some Anons in previous threads discussing using the fleet to establish an independent state in the asteroid belt, or at least take over some more territory. Whether you want to announce that, and how, would be an important thing for me to know before we get into the interview itself.

"Unacceptable!" Barks out a sharp, upper-class female voice with a refined Martian accent.

"I must admit, it is NOT the sort of thing a proper young man from Mars would do! I'm rather shocked with you too, Mohammed." Adds a voice with a similar accent and tones, but richer and more womanly where the first voice was more high-pitched and girlish.

You look around, spotting Fatima by her height and the way the mechanics are sort of diverging around her like a stream around a particularly haughty rock. She has one of Mohammed's ears caught between forefinger and thumb, and is pulling on it. Shukriya has his other ear, and is tugging even harder.

"It's haram." Fatima states plainly.

"Absolutely haram!" Shukriya insists.

"Completely against the dictates of the Caliph! Don't you know a high emissary from Mars is coming here? I was hoping to introduce you! Is this how one of my former knights should act!?" Fatima scowls at the poor boy.

Mohammed seems to be at a loss for words. The expression on his face is one you've seen on Harpy pilots who've gotten a little too close to a rocket fusillade. He spots you, though, through the crowd, and his eyes fill with hope.

"A-Admiral!" He calls out, and the two women notice you as well.

2-Negociations
(Wait the emissaries go away)
3-The Final From the Tournament and the announcement
of the Libertarian Anarchcapitalist Pirate Principality of the Belt

Been rereading the quest during my downtime (Currently at the Master Training arc) and I think I have the third SOUL B member deal figured out.

First, the real third member is Lysa, Jesus' girlfriend. I noticed how he seemed kind of betrayed during the Third Mate reveal when we picked up Doctor Clancy and it would explain why he was perfectly willing to go along with the doctored footage during his interview on air.

Now the Priest (Who's name I forget) plays the double role of being both the official 'face' of the third B member, as well as being Lysa's bodyguard. There's no way in hell Ceaser meeting him in the church while Lysa was there was a coincidence.

Now why they would go this far to keep the real pilots identity a secret, most likely either Lysa doesn't want to deal with anymore comparisons to Red Siren than she already deals with, or she doesn't want her role as a military pilot to publicly clash with her hippy liberal idol bullshit.

Fucking gundam hammer. Seeing one of them come around the hammer is almost as bad as seeing the fucking O in gundam online.
>>
>>49104035

The only thing about that is during one of the fights Roarke noticed that the S-Slayer's pilot was better than him, and that was weird because he's an ace and should know anyone on that tier. Lysa is a teenager, and all of the teenagers we've seen, even the really badass ones, have dicepools of 16 or so at best, how would she get that good? Is she a grown-up Puru?

Pretty much. Lysa seems too much like a political mastermind than a fighter. There is also the fact that Reccoca managed to pull off an act to escape with that whole 'Violate' scenario.

You look up at where the Zulfiqar is resting in its rack. Polished almost until it glows, its smooth, organically curving lines and transparent display surfaces give it an ultra-modern appearance. It's a damned strange thing, to see something like this in the bay of a pirate ship. On the other hand, it's a damned strange thing to have a pirate ship this size.

You clap your palm to your forehead. For fuck's sake, is this what they're bullying him about?

You make your way over, the hope dawning in Mohammed's eyes.

Shukriya smiles triumphantly, "Sir Admiral! Please, although you are not Martian, give guidance to this reprobate. He's flouting our traditions and shaming the Ahmad family!"

"The Black Ogre does not transform, why should my Zulfiqar?" Mohammed sulkily insists, trying to tug his ear out of her grip unsuccessfully.

"Why...well...because...tell him, Cousin Fa! Cousin? Cousin!?" As the expected support does not arrive, Shukriya glances in confusion towards Fatima.

Well heres the plan I made a while ago

>1.Interview with Gretchen
>2.Invite Stern, Kycilla, and Soul A to concert/tourney, Make sure they know its important
>3.Train with Master Asia until Tourney
>4.Have Stern, Kycilla, and Soul A sit with us and Haman during the show to keep her from pulling shit
>5.After Haman leaves sit down our Navy friends and tell them everything we know about both sides and tell them our plans
>6.Ask them to join our side or at least work towards getting rid of Haman
>7.Announce our new Kingdom before the final match up between us and the finalist so the max amount of people are watching
>8.Profit

All the while recruiting as many of the competitors as we can during the Tourney

Fatima's expression has gone from stern to gently doting, "Good morning, my wolf~ Did you sleep well? Ah...your hair is all messy, hold still, I'll fix it. Did you eat already?" She lets go of Mohammed's ear to fuss with your hair, combing it out a little with her fingers and smoothing it down with headpats.

"Yes, I had breakfast. Anyway, about Mohammed..." You try to cut in to defend your subordinate, but Fatima is relentless.

"Good. You need to eat at least something every morning to keep your strength up." She gives you a sunny smile, "I cleaned your jacket, I heard you're going on JNN today and I wanted you to look your best."

"Cousin!" Wails Shukriya.

Fatima glances at her questioningly.

The younger Martian girl pouts, "Are you abandoning your own family?"

Fatima considers it, then kisses your cheek, "Priorities, and Roarke IS part of my family."

"You're not married yet! Can't you take my side just a little longer!?" Shukriya pleads.

Fatima sighs, "Roarke, Mohammed is an upstanding Martian boy and for the sake of my cousin I am obliged to ask you to be a good moral compass to him. His man-shaped mech is not in keeping with the image of a proper Martian ace."

[Continued]
>>
>>49104515
But hes not a Martian ace now, hes a PIRATE ACE
>>
>>49104102
Yup. It's a good old fashion piece of 'fucking your shit up' technology and I tried to do it justice. Looking at it now that I statted it, the Delphinus and Beiji would actually be damn good for a sudden orbital drop. Would be harder to spot coming in and could preform a rather nasty decap strike if done right.
>>
>>49104515
>Fine by me, he hasn't been a Martian ace for a while Dejah Thoris
>>
>>49104563
How does reentry work in this system?
>>
>>49104563
I was thinking a neat idea for a pirate machine would be something that can enter and exit the atmosphere as it wanted. For example you can just stick the ability onto a harpy for an extra 13CP.
>>
>>49104515

He's a pirate first, Martian second.

A man needs every edge he can get his hands on to survive out here, no chance to be picky about it.
>>
>>49104691
You need to buy the system which becomes more expensive the heavier the machine is. 1 Cp per 10 tons or so. You can have it be external, which gives you -2 for Mv, or internal which eats up space. So I made it internal and used space efficiency. It can only be used once before having to be recharged, but considering getting out of the atmosphere requires a crazy MA to begin with, there is no reason to have it be multi use.

You nod solemnly, "You're right as always, I have to set a good example for my people to follow."

"I knew I could count on you, Roarke Starwind." Fatima's voice is warm, but there is a flash of suspicion in her eyes.

"Be like me, Mohammed." You pose, "...A true pirate."

Fatima sighs, "And there it is. Oh you wolf..." She grumbles, but without any bite to it.

"Yes! I, who pilots a humanoid mech, carries off highborn women over his shoulder, and eats lots of bacon sandwiches!" You proclaim proudly, as Fatima facepalms.

Mohammed's eyes shine with the light of youth inspired by their teachers, "Yes, my Admiral!"

"Be your own man! Break down the obstacles in your path!" Infusing your words with the fire of your warrior soul, you point dramatically at him while hugging Fatima with your free hand.

Shukriya just stares in noncomprehension, "But Mohammed is part of the Ahmad household, he should..."

"Mohammed is part of my household, he's one of my treasured officers. He wears my uniform and pilots a mech for the Iron Kestrels. He is by definition a pirate ace. It's fine, everything he does reflects upon me, not Fatima." You squeeze your Martian bride-to-be and she smiles tolerantly.

"Fatima, say something!" Shukriya demands, stomping her foot.

Fatima glares at her, "It can't be helped. Now stop pouting, it will give you wrinkles. Since you insisted on coming here, go make yourself useful. I don't see any oil on those hands, how are you earning your food and lodging exactly? Are YOU a hostage?" Her eyes narrow as she stares down the younger woman.

"N-no, but..." Shukriya's shoulders droop.

"No buts. I may be slightly disappointed in his decision, but that's how it is." Fatima's stare doesn't waver a single micron.

"If it helps, humans don't have horns like that. Or such big forearms. It's clearly patterned after a...a..." You fumble for a name from Species of Earth and then decide to just make one up, "A Greater Crested Ape, native to Chad."

[Continued]
>>
>>49104800
So if we get it we can piledrive a mech into a planet from space?
>>
>>49104811
>Roarke bringing more Earth knowledge

Dude is educated as fugg.
>>
>>49104811
>A Greater Crested Ape, native to Chad
You can trust that Roarke Starwind fellow; he's seen "Species of Earth" over a dozen times!
>>
>>49104800

That and those vehicle pod cockpits are both technologies being researched by the UJCIDF.
>>
>>49104800
Transat Ability is the same thing but its a 0.15 multiplier that also lets you exit the atmosphere in jet form with a one off refuelable booster and as far as I can tell lets you do re-entry as much as you want.
>>
>>49104816
Pretty much! The stuff protects the user, but if we were to say.. body board a mech to the earth, they'd likely lack the same thing. Another thing to consider, this only prevents you from the issues of reentry. Boosters, flight, or parachutes are required not to become a metal pancake.
>>
>>49104811
>A Greater Crested Ape
Moe's face when.
>>
>>49104935
She crested macaque if you know what I mean!
>>
>>49104857
>>49104852
You can't make a monkey out of Roarke
>>
>>49104868
They are both good things to have for a war. Pinpoint strikes that are hard to detect make for great moves, especially for dealing with planet scale campaigns. The vehicle pods also protect the ever valuable pilot, which allows them to escape and simply get in another machine. The Beiji may cost 3 pumpkinseeds, but in the hands of a good pilot, it will last quite a bit longer.
>>
>>49104959
Took me a second.
>>
>>49104811
The fact that Mohammed is, to my memory, a sword user and has a mech based on a ape terrifies me.

Though I suppose if Mohammed really wanted to he could find a way to compromise.

Nonhuman mechs are not so big a penalty that Mars got xed out of being a millitary powerhouse using them.
>>
>>49105053

All he needs are grapplers on the feet to quad wield swords.
>>
"Eyaah!? Really!? Oh wow, I didn't know you were so erudite, Admiral Starwind! Although of course, I should have expected it from Cousin's husband-to-be!" Shukriya's eyes shine, and she nods vigorously to express how impressed she is.

You nod too, "Yes, it has extremely large, bushy eyebrows, so big they stand up above its head. The alpha males have the largest eyebrows, creating an appearance of horns."

"Oh wow! Poor Mohammed, I am so sorry..." Shukriya begins patting his head as if it would soothe having his ear yanked on.

"A Greater Crested Ape, hmm?" Fatima looks at you sidelong. You don't need telepathy to see that she isn't buying it for an instant.

"Yes. From Chad." You confirm, as seriously as you can.

"Of course. From Chad." She repeats.

"Have you ever been to Chad, Cousin? You've been offworld, right? With the whole masked ace thing...oh no! Was I not supposed to mention that!?" Shukriya claps her hand over her mouth, looking stricken.

"Chad is on Earth, so no." Fatima sighs, "I suppose it wasn't going to stay a secret."

You look down at her, "I was going to ask you about that. I heard about this Martian ace named Dejah Thoris, she's supposed to be extremely talented, do you know her?"

[Continued]
>>
>>49105070
You could always just mount them directly to the legs.
>>
>>49105070
Well no, all he needs are grapples and knowledge on how to coordinate four swords and leg sword fighting styles.

Though I cant argue, my oc mech involved a salvager welding as many salvaged arms to a torso as possible in some abomination to every god of ethics known.
>>
>>49105053

Roarke is bullshitting. Regina Hatsheput didn't even think about anything but making a "darling hero mech for my darling Mohammed and it's going to be cute and fancy and have AoE beam blunderbusses~" when she had it built on board the Jaburo.

Fatima snorts, "Hmph. You've got to understand, there are certain things people say about an attractive young woman who has outstanding talent with a mech and becomes famous. If you don't believe me, ask Red Siren. Even if those rumors are completely empty, it can be enough to put off an insecure suitor and I have a duty to marry well, so...I put on a mask. Even if it was a paper-thin deception, the fact that I was making an effort at modesty made my flying more respectable." She smiles, "My mother had a book, 'Jon Carter of Mars', about a wonderful warrior from Earth who rescues a princess. Even though it got so many details of Mars wrong, for it was written in ancient times long before mankind set foot on the Red Planet, I still loved that story and the brave red princess. Anyway, I was pretty young, on the edge of seventeen, when I drove a group of raiders out of a village bordering my family's land with one of my father's tanks. It hadn't been painted with our livery yet, and as I was leaving one of the village elders called after me, asking to know who I was. It was the first name that popped into my head, and after that, I just...went with it." She smiles, "It's an embarrassing nickname, isn't it? You're smiling, are you laughing at me, Roarke?"

You shake your head, "I know a thing or two about embarrassing nicknames, I'm still Dude McCool to some of my friends."

Fatima bursts into well-bred laughter, and after a moment Shukriya joins her.

You rub the back of your head, "I, uh, didn't want anyone to know my middle name was Susan. It's not very tough, and back then I thought the strong, silent thing was cool. So Captain Ozark renamed me and called me that even after I told people what my actual name was."

Fatima smiles and shakes her head, "Dude or Roarke, you're mine and I treasure you." She kisses you, "I'll go get lunch started."

You look askance at her, "But I just finished breakfast."

She winks, "I hunt my own rabbits."

>>
>>49105834
The tournament is a means to kill multiple birds with a zaku sized rock. First off, publicity and money from bets. Second off, seeing which mechs do well can serve as the basis for our fleet and give us something sturdier than a bluegill. Third, we want ace pilots and those interested in us to pop in. Fourth, takes eyes away from Lysa and Fairchild.

We should promote the concert mostly focusing on Red

I was thinking battle royal to weed out the mooks and then normal tourney set up with how ever is left

Anyone who can pay the 10 grand entrance fee, or they can put up their mech as collateral

Kind of a mix, Roarke is the king and all citizens are either working on the colonies or joining our crews. But there won't be many rules and will kind of be like the wild west that way

>>
>>49105979
Could be more a protection sort of thing. Supply machines services and the like and you are under Kestrel protection. Any pirates that mess with said colony get a visit from the Kaiser. Colonies we take over however we just take a fee from them. No looting or killing, just a charge of services and the like which would be relatively higher due to us putting our own machines there.

Eventually we will get our Pirate Solomon/Nice Colony with war capabilities.
>>
>>49105979
You are forgetting Something, Removing the major corps from our space, they don't give a shit about people, and should not have too much of a presence in the belt, lets keep it that way
>>
>>49106033
Thing is we want control of the belt since it's like being in charge of Gibraltar, you control a major way in and out of the system and can then raid ships that have to cross the area or we can charge then a fee to cross, we can't do that as much with a mafia like set up since the colonies might just let them through

>>49106062

No, in fact they aren't.
Don't you remember what irina said? They got discredit because of Roark and that was why she ended up in the middle of nowhere.

AND by doing that we would be ashaming Jupiter by turning an better version of their symbol against them and one more time proving them incompetent even in using their own weapons....

But why not just make our own mechs? I'm sure that Karen and Cornelius can come up with a better design instead of us just relying on the Navy to come up with our ideas

First you need a place of power that is not the Auditorium to host the factory.

It's not our capital to have, it's Siren's and you can't trust all your laifu with a single waifu.

Not that she'll betray us but if we depend on Siren's stuff for everything it makes the others auxillaries. Like how Richard and Miles dont really matter that much anymore.
>>
>>49106172
Plus we can pimp another place out for production and defense.
>>
>>49106172
Well, the entire ransom for the Pally will likely be more than enough to buy a colony or two. The factories and Fatima's connections should help there and with Karen's help we got a skilled designer mechanic who will make sure the assembly line will run smoothly.
>>
>>49106160
>not having Acguys

>>49106172
We can offer much lower taxes for colonies or just conquer some and deck one or two out to be mech producers. I do think we should keep Auditorium as the capital since we do want Red to live with us where ever we are and I doubt she wants to give control of it to someone else
>>
>>49106129
>>49106123
I see your points, but the Pumpkinseed is in fact a Symbol, it was the weapon who would end the pirates once for all and etc...

Using it against them, and not only doing that, but doing this with a better pirate version, would turn this symbology upside down and turn it something that would surpass even the dimensions of simple war and entering the popular imaginary of the people of the system to weaken even the ideals the serve as the base to jupiter governerment and awaking people to reality...

Hum... Why not use the freedom and smaller(if not inexistent) taxes to bring companies to come make money in our colonies?

And lets not call it "taxes" or "protection money" it make us sound like Jupiter or something...

Why not "Rent money"?
>>
>>49106129
because customizing stolen mechs has been our M.O since the beginning of the quest, on top of being a hell of a lot cheaper?
Seriously, why spend money and materials on a production facilities and RnD when Bahamut Corp can do that for us?
>>
>>49106263
The thing is, you are thinking of this as a PR War against a big corp who shits PR like it just ate an entire cheap chinese Buffet. It proves Bahamut corp can design a machine that even pirates want and thus givs them more credit to make more machines. So what if we stole it and improved it? The base is theirs and thats all they need. Rather, we should go for something not Bahamut or Buchapres in make. Either a solid Lunar machine, or a unique design. Make a machine that stands out from both corps and makes other colonies want in on that pie.

Not only does it fly and operate underwater, it is also highly resistant to beam weapons. If that still doesnt do it for you you can just build it into the mech.

It turns out Fatima's enigmatic final statement wasn't so enigmatic. You spot her going down to Auditorium with a hunting rifle slung over her shoulder on your way to play some Bluegill Joe with your friends, and when lunchtime comes she serves you the best rabbit stew you've ever eaten. You haven't had rabbit more than once, if that, so 'the best you've ever eaten' is a low bar to set...but even if you'd eaten rabbit stew every week, it's unlikely you would taste better than Fatima's. It's delicious, and she looks good enough in her apron to eat for dessert. The only thing stopping you from doing just that is the fact that you have a television appearance coming up. She eats with you, and gives you advice, letting you know that she's spoken to the other girls and firmly insisted they all marry you at one to avoid jealousy. She also tells you that you should choose a head wife to manage your household, “...Someone you trust. Not your favorite in bed or the best cook, but the one the others listen to and are willing to follow. Don't assume I mean myself, either, the dynamics of your harem are something you know better than I. Pick someone unlikely to take sides unfairly, with a level head.”

By the way, how set are you on fighting the finalist? Because the upgraded Knuckle Kaiser is well, well above 140 CP.

That said, it's not as extreme as it's going to look. The original Knuckle Kaiser was somewhat undercosted because I screwed up with the fists. The new one is an improvement on the old in almost every respect. Better sensors. More armor. More accurate fists (and more damaging, thanks to improved servos). Better shields. It's also lighter. The cost also justifies upgrades for several of your ace waifus.
>>
>>49106563
Aren't we letting Aces bring their own mechs? They should be over 140 cp

Zgoks exist. The Warmouth, retooled for space rather than marine combat, is one of the most popular "heavy" mecha around. "Heavy" because a Heavy Striker was viewed as large before the conflict with Avalon broke out and SOUL and Roarke showed up with Mediumweight mecha.
>>
>>49106468
Yeah....Forgot about that...Gundamit.

But seriously, i think Haman is the culprit behind our mom death in some way, remember how ir began by almost killing our father? And mother only dying because she tried to help him?

My theory is that Fairchild set it up to kill him to get him out of her way, but it back fired and killed mother too.
>>
>>49106172

Richard and Miles are still very important as they run a lot of the day-to-day aspects of the Rhinehawk itself and the fleet at large. It's just that a lot of that is boring work that doesn't need to take up onscreen time.

It's more a way to show how the machine handles against the kaiser. Could do it like a wrestling match on our side. Go for the pin and suplex, not the kill. Though I guess there are other machines we could spar with to show off the Kaiser.
>>
Why don't we set them on on the Avalonian ship anons? We still need a captain for it

I think accidently killing your idol would have made Fairchild less "frigid bitch" and more... "depressive lunatic". Someone who willingly signs off hundreds of lives because everythings worthless, nothing matters and her orders are written through the lens of a whiskey bottle.

Unless Fairchild simply denies she did anything wrong and is Judge Frollo but I think she's supposed to be a person just a cruel one. That her standards are things she will never break, low they are, not something she simply ignores.

Normally, you would say that you felt nervous going into the interview. That you felt the eyes of the crowd, no, the entire solar system on you. That the weight of your decisions in the days to come will press down on your shoulders like a boulder.

Except that you're Roarke Starwind, so what you feel instead is excited to see Gretchen has undone an extra button on her shirt on account of the warm weather. You lift your shades enough to wink at the crowd, giving them all a cheerful wave. The building is borrowed from Red Siren, along with the equipment and most of the crowd. They cheer. One bold girl with her hair dyed in imitation of Rosita pulls her shirt up and flashes you, and you gesture to the security people to stop when they go to remove her.

“Ladies and gentlemen, our guest for tonight, Roarke Starwind!” Gretchen grins and gestures at you as you settle down into the couch next to her chair. You notice she has new mecha figurines on her desk, the S-Betta, Tarrasque, Archen, S-Flowerhorn, and Knuckle Kaiser arranged in a team pose.

“Glad to be here, Gretchen. You're looking especially lovely today.” You don't consider it flattery when it's true.

I think I mentioned that the Warmouth and its variants are based on the Z'gok and Grimoire early on, it must have stuck in your memory.

The Morgan II is based off the Rick Dias, but both the Warmouth and Morgan II are very moddable and since they were the default 'big mech' frames for a long time you see a lot of strange variations. For instance, the Osano-Wo started life as a perfectly standard UJCIDF Morgan II.

Man, i think she really did it, it is quite possible.
Look at this way, in her head she was trying to make what she thought was better for her senpai...
Don't you remember what seha said about dad being in the way of mom carrier and becoming the better she could be?
But things went wrong... And now she is even crazier by trying to honor mom death in doing everything possible in the name of the "Greater Good".
it matches really well with her personality, even in the sense she denies doing bad things when they are tentatives at doing the "greater good", and going foward because the "This is bigger than you and me Roarke,in the end doesn't matter who we love or the people we care about because everyday millions born and dies and yadda yadda yadda" that she said that time...

I think that this actual mentality of her is her mind trying to cope with the guilt of doing this kind of thing...because she feels that she would break with she just agreed in her fault.

Just a theory...Just a theory

“More like a gamma bomb.” You joke, and the audience laughs further.

Gretchen makes a fingergun gesture at you, “You're the one who's eaten a reactor explosion to the face, so I'll take your word for it. Well, you watch the news to learn what's going on, and I figured you hadn't seen it, so let's roll the tape!”

Well, while those beams were damn impressive, the thing you have to remember is that the aquatic enviroment really helps them out. You need thicker armor to handle the pressure, but thanks to the water, it only helps it. The water also cools their lasers so they can actually fire them since zeon beam tech was still subpar. Basically, zeon beam weapons NEEDED water to work until you got to things like the Gelgoog.

General Fairchild's face appears on the screen behind you. It looks stern and unforgiving, “...And so, in light of this flagrant attack on Mars, the Martian military, and Martian commerce, the Solar System League must with a heavy heart upgrade the status of the Avalonian threat from regional terrorists to an enemy nation. As of today, we are officially at war as a result of this unprovoked assault on the sovereignty of a League world.” The screen splits in half, the side-shot playing snippets from different planets showing the Avalonian mecha wielding these bizarre sorts of bayonet things like a lance with a built-in cannon on the topside, fighting Pumpkinseeds and Bluegills, “The Avalonians possess sophisticated mecha capabilities, which is no surprise because...” She pauses for dramatic effect, “...they are the thralls of what is believed to be the last surviving Green Man.” She pauses again to let her audience react, then barrels onward, “This evil, that we had thought consigned to the dustheap of history, has reared its head again. Even to the last of their kind, they have chosen to exert every drop of their strength in a futile attempt to enslave humanity. Like many of you, I have seen loved ones destroyed by this conflict, and have vowed never to endure the taint of the Green Men upon the galaxy again.”

She slams her fist down on her lectern, “We will not surrender! It has been nearly thirty years since an estimated two-thirds of humanity's galactic population was wiped out by the Great Sidereal War started by the Green Men! We, the Solar System League, refuse to dishonor the fallen by meekly handing over the worlds humanity has retaken to the slaves of a genetically engineered immortal monster! We will overcome! We will prevail! We must secure an existence in this galaxy for our children, and our children's children! Even as I speak, new and improved mecha are being created by the Martian Holy Militia, the UJCIDF, the Reformed Catholic Church, and independent mechbays across the Solar System. With every minute that passes, our armies swell, and the technology that goes into our forces increases.” There's a dramatic shot of a blue-painted Pumpkinseed II bearing down on one of the basic Avalonian mecha, dodging a clumsy thrust from its lance and reducing its head to a fused lump of sparking circuitry with one professional slash of its cyan-tinted beam rapier. You have to begrudgingly admit that it's a good bit of propaganda, using the newest descendant of the Bluegill line, painted blue and using a sword like Bluegill Joe, but you think it's slightly spoiled by the very visible gun in the mech's other hand.

“Our righteousness is so plain that even hardened evildoers are taking up arms in humanity's defense. Look! Even one of their vaunted Paladin arch-aces cannot stand against the might of Jovian engineering!” The split screen plays an entirely different bit of footage.

Avi has had time to resynch it. Bohemian Rhapsody is playing as soon as the ominous big, black mech with its imposing dual-shields mounted on its shoulders launches from its bay, the camera panning over its battle-scarred cuirass as it soars towards the taller blue and gold unit standing atop the damaged Avalonian ship. It shows the Paladin gesturing haughtily for the Kaiser to retreat, it shows your posture full of defiance. The blue unit charges, and the ballet of combat begins. Sparks fly through space as its double-ended beam sword slashes through your armor and your right arm pummels the Avalonian's shield before your left crushes its sword-arm's shoulder. You can hear gasps as the Avalonian leaps away, activating its drill bits and sending them soaring at you. You don't remember looking so cool and unruffled as you fight, crushing two of the drills despite the damage they inflict, and you're able to confirm that the drills and grinders that give your fist its armor-piercing qualities grind to a halt when you duck into the pursuing mech's attack and palmstrike its head clean off its shoulders. The Kaiser finally rips off the Anseis' other arm, and the footage ends.

"The Paladins are considered the elite of Avalon's elite. Each of these twelve pilots is a zealot sworn to the personal service of the Green Man leading their forces, genetically altered and reshaped into a living weapon. Although Avalon, thankfully, lacks the resources to produce bio-weapons such as were seen during the War, the mecha piloted by the Paladins represent the pinnacle of their technology. Each Paladin views themselves as genetically superior, as a creature that stands above mankind as mankind stands above apes, taught that human lives are something to simply crush underfoot at their convenience. Yet, here we see the hollow nature of their arrogance! This one met Admiral Starwind, and tasted the peril against which the UJCIDF has been tested."

>>
>>49107138
I don't think she is "content", she sounds very stressed and openly sad most of time, and in the moments she is kind of happy is because of one momentaneous victory or because she is flirting with someone...

For me she looks like someone who is tormented by the past, and just carries on because "this is what have to be done and senpai would agree with me" or because if she stops for too long everything in her mind will just finally come all at once and she would not survive this.

and she doesn't think that she is losing, this would be to soon to give up just because roarke made her REEEE a few times and 2 or 3 investments ended up a failure because of him, don't forget that she plays in another escale, and even in other systems her plans spread...

She clears her throat, “...Although it would be a breach of normal regulations, the UJCIDF is pleased to report that we have opened up negotiations with Admiral Starwind to release the pilot of the enemy vessel into our custody. We remain confident that Admiral Starwind, despite his many flaws, is a solar patriot and will do the right thing by putting the pilot into our hands to face justice, so that they can no longer terrorize our worlds. Furthermore, we must credit the Iron Kestrels for rooting out the treachery of Commodore Rashad Abujamal, who abused his connections to sensitive information and leaked the location of the Suleiman 1 facility to the Green Skulls pirate fleet, likely as part of a bid to seize control over the asteroid belt. Our working hypothesis is that after the Green Skulls were driven away, he further soiled his rank and reputation by communicating with Avalon to erase the evidence of his misdeeds at Suleiman 1 by destroying the colony itself. Truly, the depravity of these inhuman servants of the Green Men is without bounds.” General Fairchild shakes her head with an air of frozen sorrow, "Rest assured, my office is doing everything in its power to ensure the safety and prosperity of the Solar System League. We will root out our enemies both foreign and domestic, and grind them beneath our heel." She smiles, and the footage ends.

Gretchen exhales, "Woo. Intense stuff. So, Roarke Starwind, let's start with some questions, shall we? I know you have some big announcements, but I think our viewers would like to hear, first, in your own words...what exactly were you doing on Mars, and what led you into your duel with the Paladin?"

So I did what I do best went down and took what I wanted and beat the shit out of him for good measure. The Paladin was just luck smiling down on me. Well, for the first question, I am sure many recall my heist of a certain Martian Spaceship. One of the main hostages at the time was Miss Fatima herself. Now, the start was quite rocky, but I got to know her in time and learned quite a bit, especially about the late Rashad. When it came to negotiations, his actions seemed off and when I heard news of the wedding to be so soon after the funeral, alarms were ringing in my head. Now, I may be a pirate, but I am a pirate of morales, and I would make sure that not only would her wedding gift arrive on the scene, but that she was alright. Suffice to say, the situation was not good. So, I fought rashad twice. With my fists and then with my machine. Won both of them and now Rashad is now a black mark.

As for the second question, on our way off the planet to get Fatima the help she needed, we managed to notice the fight going off on the gate. Considering our mission, we decided to withdraw before the Paladin showed up. Not wanting to waste a step, we lured her to our base, challenged her to a duel, and as you saw, emerged victorious. Got to admit, that Avalonian ship will look nice in kestrel colors.

"First, I think the General is giving Bucephalus Heavy Industries a little too much credit for my mech's construction. Although it uses a Thoroughbred MP frame, the bulk of its systems and the secret to its strength lies in the tireless labor of my extremely competent and beautiful mechanic. Without her, the Kaiser wouldn't be half the mech it is today." You hope Karen is watching this, she deserves the love.

Gretchen smiles, "That's really sweet. I mean that!"

"As for Mars, I'm sure you recall my heist of the Heart of the Sunshine, a Martian luxury liner bound for Europa?" You ask.

Gretchen nods, "Captained by one Mikail Uzun, correct?"

You nod, "Correct. The most profitable seizure of that voyage was Lady Fatima Ahmad herself. Now, we had an extremely rocky start, but we got to know each other in time and eventually came to enjoy our verbal sparring. Over the course of our conversations, I learned quite a lot about Martian culture and especially about the late Rashad. When it came time for us to negotiate, his actions seemed...off."

"Off how?" Gretchen leans forward a little. Her large chest presses against her desk distractingly, but you're on a roll and can't be distracted by hardball questions and soft breasts.

"He seemed extremely unconcerned with her well-being, but without question agreed to pay a ridiculous sum for her return. Without haggling. Nonetheless, Fatima is an honorable woman and wanted to do her duty, so...I let her go. I wish, sometimes, that I hadn't, and spared her what happened next...but I couldn't take her honor so lightly." You sigh heavily, "I realized what had happened when almost immediately after her return her father abruptly died under mysterious circumstances, and then it was announced that the wedding would happen very shortly regardless. Why haggle when you know you're about to become the richest landowner on Mars, after all?"

"Now I am a pirate, and everyone should remember that." You lean forward, and look directly at the camera, "I am a thief, a brawler, and a kidnapper. In spite of this, I have my morals. I don't tolerate mistreatment of my hostages, no matter who they are or who does the mistreating." You hope General Fairchild keeps those words well in mind, "On top of this, Fatima was always much too good for that puffed-up buzzard, so I decided to handle things directly. I went to Mars to confront him."

Gretchen nods, "I asked some questions, almost as soon as you announced the voyage the general consensus among your crew was that you didn't trust Rashad...and some of them also say Fatima was quite special to you? Confirm or deny?" She twirls one of her twintails around her fingertip as she talks.

You smile, looking just slightly abashed, "Confirmed. It didn't start out that way, and both of us were determined not to besmirch her honor, but...I couldn't see her get hurt and not do anything."

Gretchen nods, "So you went to Mars. You, a pirate, went to one of the most militarized planets in the galaxy."

You grin, "Little fish can find holes in big nets, I infiltrated the planet, crashed the wedding, and discovered that Rashad was using a modified HMIS developed by the Green Skulls to control their female captives to keep Fatima docile." Despite your expression, you can hear the anger creeping into your voice, "So I broke up the party, stole the bride and all the gifts, and I beat that son of a bitch to a pulp with my fists and remanded him into General Fairchild's custody to face charges." You pause for one...two...three heartbeats, "I wonder how he escaped from her?"

"I hope we find out." Gretchen remarks.

You nod, "It would be interesting to know, wouldn't it? At any rate, Rashad wanted a rematch in his mech. The footage is all up on the holonet, but suffice to say that Commodore Rashad Abujamal ended the fight as a black smear on the surface of Mars."

"As I was leaving the planet, taking advantage of the battle to escape, I was approached by a certain Countess of Avalon, Loriette Marie le Kennedy. New to the solar system and captaining a badly damaged ship, she mistook us for cargo-haulers and requested guidance to a safe port." You shrug eloquently, "Such was her haste that she forgot to ask what the service charge was. Alas, when she discovered upon meeting up with my fleet that it would be the seizure of her ship, its mecha complement, and her own person for ransom...she took it quite poorly. Being a polite sort of man, I accepted her challenge and fought her in single combat. It was a splendid battle." Your teeth glitter as you smile in remembrance. >Well I'm not sure yet, there are plenty of people interested in the Countess and my mother always taught me to listen to all sides before I made a decision. >>49107944
"Potentially. What people like the general keep focusing on is her allegiance to a Green Man. They do not seem to consider that she is a thinking, feeling human. I'm trying to keep that in mind. "Interesting sentiment, from a man who's fought hordes of everymen and won, a man who practically defines the ideal of the eccentric ace." Gretchen winks.

You laugh, "Please, no matter how strong I am, I'm only one man. The Iron Kestrels are the dominant force in the asteroid belt thanks to the talents of many exceptional individuals and the hard work of hundreds of pilots and crew. On the matter of the Countess, incidentally, some of the rhetoric I've heard disturbs me greatly. I sincerely hope General Fairchild, for instance, was joking when she suggested crucifying her live on JNN. Such a barbaric and inhumane act goes entirely against my principles and would automatically disqualify the UJCIDF's offer regardless of how generous it is. Much has been made of the fact that the Countess has sworn allegiance to the Green Men. They do not seem to consider that she is a human being, with the same thoughts, fears, and emotions as any one of us. While it's true she has been genetically modified, such modifications seem mostly medical in nature. If you saw her in a crowd, you would just note that she is a highborn woman. So long as I am alive, I will not under any circumstances tolerate the presence of an actual Green Man in this system...but we must not succumb to fear, one of the most terrible weapons the Green Men possessed was the power to manipulate the human mind. This woman is a victim of a twisted ideology, not a monster."

"Two, really." You hold up two fingers. "I'll save the best for last, so I'll start with the less important one. It's been a big year for the Iron Kestrels. We've been through loss, pain, anger, sorrow, rebirth, triumph, and above all else...we've grown. As a celebration, we will be holding a mech tournament on Auditorium as part of a recruiting drive for the Iron Kestrels, in the interests of picking up new talent and new aces."

"When will the tournament be?" Gretchen asks.

"At the New Years Concert, a little over three months from now." You confirm.

"Maybe I'll participate, can you tell us a little more about the rules?" She bats her eyelashes.

"Yes, of course..." You glance surreptitiously down at some notes Karen put together for you, and go into detail about the structure of the tournament, the rules, and the specifications on which mecha are allowed entry. "...The entry fee is ten thousand credits, or one's mech as collateral. I hope everyone displays the fire of their souls."

She whistles, "That's clever. I hope a lot of my fans watching this plan to be there, to watch or participate."

"Likewise." You agree.

"As for your second announcement, we'll find out what it is when we get back from commercial." She smiles cutely at the camera.

Dude we all like Zakus, but they are solider mechs and should be left to goverments for us to loot later.

Give Irinia something to do.
Point is harpies are too tied to the pirate identity for us to abandon them.
>>
>>49108635
In the crazy, magnificent mess that our life has become we met 5 beautiful women who are willing to spend their lives with a scoundrel like us. We asked if they would willing to marry us and they agreed.
>>
>>49108750

Yes, but we're saving that for last.
>>
>>49107463
Dammit guys this was bound to happen eventually with all the random rolling all the time.
>>
>>49108793

As a matter of fact, we've hit bump limit, so I might just run again tomorrow (today, technically, since it's 2:34 AM) and conclude the questions portion of the interview then.
>>
>>49108819
Little late there anon
>>
>>49108789
Why don't we just make the sickest mech we can and call it a harpy 2. Extra irony for the fact harpies are not 'production' but simply space technicals.
>>
>>49108789
We actually have more non harpies than harpies in our own ship. We have more harpies overall but thats because the guys who joined up with us brought their own.
>>
>>49108825
nooooooooo

Thanks for running wong
>>
>>49108825
>only 2:34 AM
Try 7:34 AM.
>>
>>49108825
Takes a while for the thread to sage off, but either or would work. Not like I'm going to say no to another day of running
>>
>>49108825
The thread still has plenty of life in it, so you can at least get the wedding announcement out of the way, and everything else can be for tomorrow.
>>
>>49108828
You're still here though and thus have seen my opinion on your actions
>>
>>49108858
Eh, it was bounded to happen eventually it wasn't an important role though so no big deal

You're able to get some water and chat with Gretchen over the break, while a commercial plays. However, it ends quickly enough, and Gretchen faces you with a gleam of inquisitive journalism in her eyes, "Alright, Roarke, so what's this big announcement? What could possibly be more important than a mech tournament, anyway?"

You grin, "I'm pleased, and surprised, to say that I'm getting married."

Gretchen squeals happily, "Eee! I'm so excited for you!"

"Life is a crazy, magnificent mess. I've been lucky enough to meet five beautiful women who are willing to spend their lives with a scoundrel like me. I suppose it was always inevitable that things would end up this way, and I couldn't be happier. Fatima Ahmad, Karen Cohen, Rosita Kim, Alice Farragut, and Samantha Blanchett, five women I've loved deeply for some time, are planning to make me their husband. Yes, Pierre, that means I really did make an honest woman out of your sister in the end." You cheerfully point at the camera, We'll be holding the wedding after the concert, and I'd like to take the opportunity to invite SOUL Squad A, Colonel Ziemowit Stern of the Battleship Cincinnatus, and Colonel Regina Hatsheput of the Battleship Jaburo, to the festivities. Along with General Fairchild, of course." You have to invite her, it's what Clemmy wanted, even though you'd rather have invited a rabid badger. "Even though we've ended up on opposite sides of the battlefield before, I've also fought alongside SOUL and have a deep respect for the work Squad A does. Just please try not to arrest me until after the honeymoon, okay?" You joke, and the crowd laughs.

"I really, truly hope you're all as happy as I am." You continue, "I've never felt so lucky. Things have honestly been pretty hectic, but they've each been a pillar of strength, and no matter what follows in the days to come, I want them to know that I plan to spend the rest of my life with them."
>>
>>49108960

Cue fairchild freakout and office rampage in 3...2...1...
>>
>>49108987
She's known about the wedding for a while
>>
>>49108960
>You have to invite her, it's what Clemmy wanted, even though you'd rather have invited a rabid badger.
Sit her next to Domon and the Angry Badger.
>>
Game resumes Thursday evening. For the meanwhile, who do you think the head wife should be and why?
>>
>>49108997

Yea still I'm waiting for an extended rage
>>
>>49109002
Fatima, shes the most level headed and has the least problems with the rest of the waifus as far as we know and she was brought up with the expectations of running a harem. I would have picked Sam but Clemmy wouldn't listen to her.

>>49109005
Thats when she finds out about the baby
>>
>>49109002

Seriously, theres only one choice. Fatima.
>>
>>49109002
Sammy. she's the most diplomatic and level headed of the group and serves as a pretty good shadow leader. Fatima can handle financial, Karen mechanical, Clemmy Security, and Siren PR, but Sammy serves as our ears and glue.
>>
>>49109002
Fatima seems to be the best choice since she is the most sensible and seems to know what should be going on.
>>
>>49109002
Fatima is the only choice, since the others have already divided into camps (Sam and Karen in one corner, and Rosita and Clemmy in the other).

she's the only neutral party.
>>
>>49109012
>>49109014

Fatima scolds and bullies when Roarke isn't around, though.
>>
>>49109025
>yfw fatima and loriette join as a faction in the waifu's war
>>
>>49109002
I think either Fatima or Sam hands down are the only actual viable candidates. Leaning towards Fatima because she has honor and duty ingrained, she gets why sometimes a man has to go out there and face down horrors from beyond the stars alone, and that someone needs to stay behind to make sure it doesn't all fall apart. Whereas Sam would risk it all and come with us.
>>
>>49109002
Sam, She has put the most effort into getting to know the other girls,
And she could just poison any one who gets too out of hand
>>
>>49109034
>A martian ever teaming up with an Avaloian
Karen and Rosita would team up before that
>>
>>49109005
>>49109012

It all depends on whether or not she believed you would actually marry Clemmy rather than dumping her somewhere when you got tired of her.
>>
>>49109058
Sooo screaming like a banshee then.
>>
>>49109002
Fatima if only because she is the only semi neutral part and because her culture will help make the harem function
>>
So how is this Honeymoon going to work? And since we have the thrones we should dress in a toga and have the girls dressed as slave girls
>>
>>49109108
Honeymoon would be a locked suite with the sheets changed every 4 hours
>>
>>49109025

Don't forget that, to a lesser extent, Samantha and Rosita are friends, and so are Karen and Clemmy.
>>
>>49109058
Hey wong,a couple of quick questions. The S-flowerhorn has 2 grapples right? Are they arm shoulder or waist mounted? Also I remember that the claws were decorative but were the heels?
>>
>>49109002
Sammantha, due to her judicious use of diplomacy, friendship, empathy, and drugged teacups

To those supporting Fatima as more neutral than Samantha, although Fatima is a fine candidate I cannot say that she is entirely neutral.

After all, there is one woman she would quite happily perforate with a plasma carbine except for the fact that doing it would make Roarke's life difficult, which...well, you've seen her views on that yourself.
>>
>>49109191

Democratic harem then
>>
>>49109198
If that's the case then karen. no question. just cause president cohen sounds the best.
>>
>>49109222
Karen is the worst choice by far anon
>>
>>49109191

...Wong is the purpose of Lori to make all the other waifus as angry as possible?
>>
>>49109231

I think you mean best choice. Find a flaw that doesn't involve her being a nerd.
>>
>>49109231
Pfft, as if we've never experienced a bad president before. President Cohen for life.
>>
Obviously we should have Loriette be the head waifu.
>>
>>49109254
>Womanchild
>Hates Rosita
>Has a terrible empathy score
>Has no idea how to take care of herself let along a harem

Yes. Every single waifu that doesn't already despise her for what she is will find a reason to enter a tooth-gritting, eyesight-blurring, bordering-on-REEEE rage towards her. Except potentially for Karen, and even that I'm not sure of.

>>49109283

I don't get the womanchild thing, but I got into the quest late. Isn't she the only one who does actual work on the Rhinehawk?
>>
>>49109283

Lets see:

Clemmy will probably lose in a fight against her mech and that might be the cause of her reeeeeeeee. because another waifu is stronger than her.
>>
>>49109306
You mean like what Rosita did?
>>
>>49109300
For some reason Karen gained a few very dedicated haters for apparently no reason.

Even when I was rereading the quest I couldn't understand where all the venom was coming from.
>>
>>49109311
what again? i forgot.
>>
>>49109306

Clemmy already has her reason, really. Hers is one of the least complicated and most basic. She left the UJCIDF to be with Roarke, that doesn't mean she stopped believing in the UJCIDF or its ideals. I wouldn't count on Clemmy to job because of what happened with Rosita, either. It was exactly the kind of fight the Archen was built for, the odds were in Red Siren's favor.
>>
>>49109344
>>49109311
The dice were very cruel to poor Clemmy that night
>>
>>49109350
guessing it would abate somewhat if lori leaves her side and comes over fully?
>>
>>49109311

Ironically in hindsight that was probably good for her, since she learned she can't just bully the other waifus into submission and because Rosita took the time to befriend her afterwards so she wasn't isolated.
>>
>>49109321

My theory is that it's because our introduction to her was her fucking with our mech. Now we know that she's been doing it since we became a Kestrel, and that her fucking with mechs turns them into invincible godbeasts, but for some people I think that first impression just stuck and made them view everything else she does critically.

Or maybe they're really, really, really hardcore Red Siren fans, except I'm a Sirenfag and don't have any animosity towards Karen.

I think a lot of us just kind of saw her as a kid sister childhood friend type deal, and those never win the waifu wars so we didn't latch on.
>>
>>49109399
Maybe, but every time Karen shows up one or two anons inevitably shit on her.

It's extremely depressing to see, especially for a girl who does as much as Karen.
>>
>>49109419
>childhood friends never win.

>>49109430

There's going to be a lot of Karen tomorrow, so hopefully they'll either not be around or be able to hold back on the bile.

>>
>>49109361

>>
>>49109497
time to work on that waifu.
>>
>>49109191
To be fair none of the waifus should like her very much.
>>
>>49109490

She made a SJW cry on live television. Of course she's a good girl.
>>
>>49109002
Sammy as the most refined.
>>
>>49107747
While hillarious, i fear Oda would be a bad choice for a commentator as one would have to translate half the stuff he says for most people to understand.
