>You are Maple Son-Mahogany, one of two young Tuffle twins thrown at Earth starting in early Dragon Ball by your "father," Dr. Raichi

Last time, on Dragon Ball Tuffle Quest Z! You learned the MP Buster spell from Piccolo and decided to put your skills to the test, facing off against Super Saiyan Turles in the Pendulum Room, and claiming victory!

It may have been a simulated fight, but being able to take down Turles on your own... you feel like you've got a real chance at fighting Vegeta now. But Turles isn't anywhere near as strong as Vegeta is now. You've got some choices coming up.

Chuu Lee seems to have hit a breakthrough with her training, getting better results after sustained training of the Raio-Ten. If you're lucky, maybe you can get close enough to Vegeta's level of strength with that training. Closing the gap as much as possible would be a smart move.

You could also try developing your skills better. You've trained yourself to get a significant amount of mileage out of your Ki and Magic based techniques. A couple more couldn't hurt. Perhaps there are some physical skills you can try working on as well, even though you've probably gotten a really good combination from your magical enhancements to the combos you already know.

On the subject of skills, you could try working with others on improvement. Learning the Instant Transmission from Lapis or Krillin would be a massive benefit in battle. Then there's King Kai's other technique: the Spirit Bomb. Learning it could help you significantly down the road. Plenty of other folks might have some skills you could exchange for, too.

And then there's the Ki container you and Bulma have started work on. There's a good deal of potential right there, depending on how you develop it. Might be worth looking into some more for the time being.

But beyond all this, there's also your kids to consider. Gohan and Peppa have been doing phenomenally with their training, even with the hiccups, but you know they're not even close to their full potential. And it looks like they're starting to really hit their stride. You recall from Puar that Oolong mentioned, jokingly, that they're about the right age to get lessons at the Southern Transformation Kindergarten.

But time is a resource you're starting to run out of, with the Tournament up ahead. What should you focus on?

>A. Get stronger! You can do it!

Focusing on getting stronger. That's going to be a clear goal now. And with what Chuu Lee has discovered, you might have a chance at really improving. And you'll have an added bonus of training up the Raio-Ten, too.

While doing that, you can try working on some more skills, too. A new melee combo might be a good idea, or you could develop further on Ki attacks. Or maybe could try for some more Magic...

And lastly, you've still got skills from others to consider. Learning the Instant Transmission would be just the edge you need in a fight, and incredibly useful in general. But you could also try learning some skills from Piccolo, or maybe Tien, too.

With all the training you put in, though, and a little time training yourself in the restored Gravity Chamber, you feel like you've gotten all you can out of this new regime. Adding to that, you've reached a new height with the Raio-Ten and Kaio-ken combination.

Kaio-ken times five.

And that's not all, you've worked with the skill enough that, while still straining, you could reasonably sustain it for a fight. Going to need a lot of time to recover afterwards, though, so can't spam the technique. Still, all this training has brought you up to a Power Level of...

Just barely above 5 million.

And lastly, during your training, you head to Lapis again to try and if he and Krillin can help you learn the Instant Transmission technique. Unlike your previous attempt, you do indeed manage it. To celebrate, you can't help but show off juuuuust a little. You take a quick trip to Master Roshi's, scaring the hell out of him and Turtle when you arrive seemingly out of nowhere.

The Turtle Hermit stumbles, half-dressed and looking like he's getting ready for something. "M-MAPLE, WHERE'D-"

"Hey dad, got a date with Annin going?" you ask innocently.

He picks himself up, grumbling. "Trying to get ready for it, yes."

You smile, placing two fingers on your forehead to focus. "Well, good luck with it. See ya!" He nearly stumbles over again as you teleport away, returning to Krillin and Lapis. "Perfect! I've got it down!"

The two of them... aren't as pleased as they were before you left. You see Lapis rubbing his chin contemplatively. "Well, glad it worked, Maple."

"...something up?"

He sighs. "My sister went with Chiaotzu and Raditz to Planet Brench a while back. Apparently Jaco came around not too long ago with a less than pleasant message, seems there's been some fighting there. Sis said she'd do anything she could to help, Chiaotzu went with her, and Raditz kinda... ended up stuck with them on the trip."

"We'll be heading off soon. I don't like the fact that things have been so quiet over the last couple months. You take care, Maple." Krillin states, readying himself.

Super Godzilla would kick our ass.

I wonder if Godzilla and Gamera will be at the tournament...

Course that leaves the water unguarded of it's two strongest guards.

Excellent chance for anyone to...pop in.

I can totally see Towa spoiling that with that nasty concentrated black water stuff that Beelz showed us

>C. You know, might be now would be a good time to try a Pendulum Room match against Freeza, or maybe Cooler

Let's deck Freezie Pop in the face.
>>
>>49137657
Almost certainly, he would.
But it's a chance to test ourself against a truly powerful foe who has tricks we probably don't know about yet, no?

Plus, I wanna see how they're doing. Maybe see if we can make them some radical clothes, like a basketball uniform for the big g-z.

We'll need to train with Charles Barkley and get a magic coin too.

You know, we ought to move the divine water to the same area as the fountain of youth, and transport darkness over there. That way, both items always have a guard (darkness) even when the kaiju are out, and darkness has folks to regularly interact with. Plus, double the traffic. And better defenses for both.

You frown a little. Probably could have helped them. Ah, oh well, they'll be fine. You tap your fingers to your forehead again and head home, specifically to Goku. When you arrive, you barely have time to dodge a Power Pole headed straight for your face. You duck out of the way, pushing back into Goku. He blinks, then laughs. "Heh, hey Maple. Looks like you finally got that skill down."

"Sorry mama!" Peppa's voice shouts, your daughter moving the Power Pole out of the way.

You spot Gohan sitting nearby, reading through a book with Groucho curled around next to him, setting it down and waving to you. You yourself float down with Goku. "Well well, practicing with the Power Pole, sweetie?"

She smiles wide and nods. "Papa's teachin' me."

Goku ruffles her hair. "And you're getting better and better at it. Oh, hey, Peppa, show your mom what else you learned."

She gets an ecstatic look on her face, retracting the Power Pole and setting it down, taking a stance like her dad. "Haaaa..." You sense Ki build up around her, travel to her palms. And then... "JAN! KEN! ROCK!" she punches in the air, letting out a small burst of Ki. "SCISSORS!" And a two-fingered poke, with the same burst, slightly more focused than the last. "PAPER!" And she finishes it off with a palm strike, a much stronger burst of Ki pushing outwards.

You feel a little nostalgic. The Ki Jan Ken technique you developed. Goku kneels down to his daughter, fist forward. "That's my lil' Peppa." he states as she bumps it gently with her own. "Gohan learned it even quicker, too!" he adds, your son smiling shyly.

You kneel down to them. "Great job, sweeties. Now, anything else you two have learned?" you ask sweetly, Peppa nearly running to you as you do.

"I learned this!" she shouts, backflipping, and then building up Ki again. This time, though, it moves to her tail, and she gives a strong slash with it. She shivers slightly, then manages to shake it off

You're a little surprised, then turn to Goku. "She ask for that, monkey boy?"

"Eheh, kinda. While we were training with the Power Pole, I blocked it with that, and she immediately wanted to learn how to do it." he says with the cheekiest grin. "Looks like she needs to train her tail more, though."

"And what about you, Gohan?"

Your son points to his book. "Been reading."

"Ah, and what book you got there?" you ask, heading to him. He shows you... oh hey! It's that old Capsule Corp. history book you got waaaaay back when you arrived here. "Huh, wanted to learn about that, did you?"

He nods. "You're really smart, mama, and so is uncle Acer, and Mrs. Bulma, and Pantea. I wanna be smart too." he states shyly

You ruffle his red hair. "You'll be plenty smart, son. But glad to see you working on it already." You then stand tall and clap your hands together. "You know kids, after the Tournament you two are gonna be about ready for Kindergarten. And Oolong and Puar have gone to one when they were your age. It's where they also learned how to shapeshift. Think you want to head there, or try going with your cousin Izzy to a more local one?"

(cont.)
>>
>>49139127
"IZZY!" Peppa nearly screams. "Kindagarden! Kindagarden! Gonna go to kindagarden! With Izzy, with Izzy!" she chants, dancing a little.

Well, that's one answer. Gohan however... considers it. "Hm..." He looks down at his book, scratching his head. "Much more complicated than Capsule... but maybe..." He then looks at his cheerful, dancing sister. "...no thank you, mama. I'll stick with sis." he finishes, smiling at you.

Well, you gave them the choice. You giggle a little. "Okay kids, how about mama teaches you something this time? Papa already got his shot at it."

"Mama! Mama! Wanna learn this one!" Peppa shouts, making a gun-shape with her hand and giving little "pew pew, pchoo" sounds.

Gohan, on the other hand, has a different request. "I wanna be fast. Teacher Chuu Lee told me you and papa can go really, really fast like her."

Ah, the Raio-ken. Well, sounds like Chuu Lee didn't take them to Mount Rumble, but probably for good reason.

Yeah, no. That kind of expectation is an extremely selfish thing for a player to have. QMs, GMs, they're supposed to have fun with their games too. Vote down the...information some had forgotten?
>>
>>49139525
Yes, it would make our decision informed instead of ultimately unnecessary from lack of knowledge. Also, you could at least tell us what our character's going to say before you have her say it, no one brought up anything about Izzy besides what you remembered and didn't share with the rest of us.
>>
>>49139437
You're not behaving in a mature manner, anon. Using "cuck" is a clear example of this. And I know you're still here.
>>
>>49139564
I remembered it anon.
>>
>>49139564
What would that have changed? Maybe a subvote to have our character deceive her kids by deliberately not mentioning that the cousin they love is going somewhere local? That's the only thing I can think of.
>>
>>49139564
Man I want to see you QM and literally give every single minuscule detail that the MC knows to the players and tell them what they are going to say with a 'I-is this o-okay Player-samas?'

>>49139612
You didn't share, so what good did that knowledge really do in the end?
>>
>>49139410
No, he makes sense, anon. Speaking as a forever-DM, you really do have to stay impartial to not impede the fun of the group. Without the group there is no game. Besides, if you're the kind of person who lets yourself get bent out of shape over players making a decision or wanting things to go a particular way, then you shouldn't be running at all. A good GM can get plenty of enjoyment out of shaping the world, determining the overall plot, and seeing how the players interact with it all. I love it dearly when players do both smart things and detrimental things.
Being a GM is never about being the big boss who forces people into your way. It's a shared effort, a collaborative story. It's perfectly acceptable to remain neutral, and let the whims of the players steer things a bit.

I do understand your point of view, but it seems immature to assume you can't have fun by doing things this way.
>>
>>49139637
>You didn't share

S'not my job to share with the class on everything. I don't do my home work and then hand out the notes to everyone around me if they didn't do it.

Hell. I've got enough info about Tuffle Quest for notes and such that I'm pretty sure it would take an entire thread of my own just to go over them.
>>
>>49139564
The information was always there.

If I said that they'd say no, I am certain there would still be a cry foul.
>>
>>49139676
Cool, bear in mind all those notes are useless to the rest of us when they aren't shared, as is your continued stance on that information.
>>
>>49139699
The information was always there in a thread from four weeks ago that was like one line. Was it dialogue, or one of your summaries that you do?
>>
>>49139705
He never said he wanted to be useful to you, anon. It's a quest, a perpetual struggle for factional dominance with loyalties changing every hour.
>>
I like how the current argument is about knowing information ahead of time, which we did have, but if salty anons even remembered the outcome would have been the same.
>>
>>49139646
So we keep pressuring the QM to do something she has made clear that she doesn't want to do, and when presented with an option of letting NPCs decide, get upset when things don't go exactly how we want, even after we've down the decision once already?
>>
>>49139724
Half a post of dialogue involved it, anon.

Are you going to be able to move on?
>>
>>49139705
I can share them if you'd like. I did have stuff going all the way back to Dragon Ball Tuffle Quest but that got ate up.

Hell. Next quest I'll put what I've got in a pastebin and share it.
>>
>>49139804
Will you tell me if you left a banana peel in front of me before I move on?
>>
>>49139828
You'd probably yell at her for not letting it be your decision to not see the peel and slip on it.
>>
>>49139795

The principle of complete impartiality by the DM and cooperating with the players is absolutely fine. I also agree with this sentiment.

But using it as fodder for the purposes of arguing that a GM is biased against a certain decision when the players left it up to NPC decision (i.e. dice rolls, etc.) isn't such a good thing.
>>
>>49139820
Sounds neat! I'll be looking forward to it, just like I'll be looking forward to that dragonball genie quest.

GENIE QUEST QM, WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU
>>
>>49139852
How could I do that when we can see the future
>>
>>49139820

That'd be extremely awesome if you did that, anon. It'd help us recall important information in vital times (like learning the MP buster in the previous thread), or remember other stuff like neat concepts to use for techniques.
>>
>>49139887
Infinite number of future realities.

Infinite number of banana peels to slip or not slip on.
>>
>>49139828
I question why you are walking into the trash in the first place.
>>
>>49139911
Because I didn't see it when you put it there.
>>
>>49139893
I'll take it one step further and even go back through previous threads, go through all 7,240 questions asked (I think at least a thousand of those are mine) and compile my notes for characters, events and try to even write up a good 'bio' for Maple and Acer.

I'm not the greatest writer in the world, but I love Tuffle Quest so much I'll do it.

Look at the following line, anon:
>...if you're the kind of person who lets yourself get bent out of shape over players making a decision or wanting things to go a particular way, then you shouldn't be running at all.
If it's so intensely negative for her, then she simply shouldn't be running a quest that can invove such a scenario. I should point out, though, that it's particularly strange for it to be unpleasant for her at all. It's just an ordinary scenario of the players wanting their progeny to pick up a unique, otherwise impossible to earn skill.

In the end, if you can't perform the task of being an impartial DM/GM/QM who still enjoys themselves with whatever the players do, then....don't be one? Pretty simple. Be a player instead. Or get anoher hobby. There's lots of alternatives out there.

I should note that I'm neither for nor against the decision made here, I just want to argue that impartiality is important and necessary since it was a subject in debate.
>>
>>49139646
Yeah, okay, I get you, but still, I don't think that kind of GMing is for everyone, and that not every GM should be held to that style. I still attest that it's selfish to expect *every* GM to be like that (The GM must be X, the GM must be Y), even if it's not necessarily with GMs that choose to be like that.

>if you're the kind of person who lets yourself get bent out of shape over players making a decision or wanting things to go a particular way, then you shouldn't be running at all
This situation isn't really bent out of shape, I don't think. More that the GM had NPCs react in a way PCs didn't expect, with some differences (disagreement was sparked by one of the PC's own words not deliberately voted on) due to the inherent differences between a quest and a tabletop.
>>
>>49139820
Actually anon, I would greatly appreciate it if you could do that for us. I still have a ton of notes I go through for every thread, but I'm sure I've left out some things that could be helpful later on.

Look, having Destron—my father was a great professor and scientist and engineer, Dr. Blanch Raichi at PIT; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, the Watermelon School of Finance, very good, very smart—you know, if you’re head scientist, if I were a general, if, like, OK, if I worked as a general of the Tuffle Forces, they would say I'm one of the greatest people anywhere in the universe—it’s true!—but when you're the head scientist they try—oh, do they do a number—that’s why I always start off: Went to Watermelon, was a good student, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune—you know I have to give my like credentials all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged—but you look at the Destron deal, the thing that really bothers me—it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as these lives are (Destron is powerful; my father explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was many years ago; he would explain the power of what's going to happen and he was right—who would have thought?), but when you look at what's going on with the four hybrids—now it used to be three, now it’s four—but when it was three and even now, I would have said it's all in the messenger; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don't, they haven’t figured that the men are smarter right now than the women, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years—but the Arcosians are great negotiators, the Saiyans are great negotiators, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us.

"Son, you're a little too young for that still..." you tell him, rubbing the back of your neck. Though, guess this is something you should have seen coming, given what you heard when you... anyway. You come up with an idea, first materializing a small tome for Gohan to learn out of. "But tell you what, if you can get through all this, and master it, mama will take you to Mount Rumble."

His initially sad expression brightens when you give him the task. He nods with a wide smile on his face as he takes the book. "Thanks mama!"

Peppa tugs at your pants. "Me too?"

You ruffle her hair. "Sure sweetie. This said, you two wanna learn the Geist Magnum, huh?" you ask, making a gun shape with your fingers. "Ah, but there's more to it than that. Watch this." You add a bit of Lightning to the technique, and then fire into the air.

Gohan and Peppa are immediately enamored. "Wooooah!"

Goku laughs. "Ah, that good 'ol magic enhancement, huh?""

"Buuuut of course!" you respond, taking a bow. "Well kids, want to try that?"

They start nodding emphatically. Well well, looks like you've got your work cut out for you.

And so, you help Gohan and Peppa work on learning the Geist Magnum first, and then how to enhance the technique with Magic. The attack is almost too easy for them, as they end up acing the skill almost immediately. Brings a smile to your face.

The magic is a bit harder, and for a while they just can't quite figure out how to utilize it properly, but after some careful demonstration...

Gohan raises his hand into the air, building up Ki at the tip of his finger. And then... he gets some Lightning magic built up there as well. "GEIST MAGNUM!" he shouts, firing.

Peppa does the same as her brother, a swirling, spiral of Ki and Magic building up at her fingertip, shouting "GEIST MAGNUM" out as she fires.

They did it.

The kids join hands and dance with each other, cheering happily... only to be interrupted by a falling pterodactyl. Goku approaches it. "Huh, looks like you caught dinner, kids!"

"Monkey boy..." you mumble...

With all this done, you decide to spend some time in the weeks before the Tournament...
