Your fleets rush forth, light bending around them from the speed into a doughnut shape in front of them. Your ship's sensors are used to this, parsing through the scrunched stream of light to piece together the view of the universe rushing by at relativistic speeds. The drive wings hum as your ships fall towards the nearest human colony where the tiny glowing specs of light marking warships swirl like glittering snow in a storm cast in the harsh dim light of the system's singular red giant star.

As you continue to decelerate your ships, their sensors begin to parse out the two sides. The Scavenger fleet and the Commonwealth picket forces, each tearing at each other in a ravenous frenzy as stray kinetic rounds detonate against the atmosphere of the colony, and trailing particle beams ripple through the upper atmosphere sending streaking beams into the sky beneath the battle. Battle scarred wrecks list, spinning slowly as they succumb to gravity and dip beneath the stratosphere, bleeding air and water as they slowly begin to burn.

Your fleet announces it has established a targeting solution, and you release your mental hold of them, setting them lose upon the battlespace.

All the while it's still moving its hands and eyes around like it normally would, just really slowly, and the humans all realize that the entire time it's been there it's been glancing at literally every one of them several times per second.

We can't communicate with them in a practical fashion while they're in warp, however I believe the ambassadorial speaker has a q-brain so he shouldn't be spewing too much shit while he's there.

Your forces skim the planets orbit as they decelerate, firing a salvo as they pass and loop around that shears into the enemy fleet from the side. You see a Scavenger ship catch a slug and spin, its hull warping and fragmenting as it rips itself apart from the impact. Another shatters in half, sending bits of hull in every direction. As your fleet spins as they pass, accelerating hard to give the formation a sweeping curve towards the planet, your ships fire again, the linear particle beams reaching out the astronomically short distance of a half-light second to flay the hull from several damaged ships, and your formation begins to enter the melee, falling into a range close enough for real time communication. You detect comm lasers pinging your ships warily from outdated looking vessels amid the conflict.

A damage report comes to you from the lasers, along with data you already know informing you they had been expecting an allied alien force to assist. The picket force has suffered casualties, nearly a third of their fleet either destroyed or rendered inoperable, but they have made sure the enemy has paid for every vessel. Scavenger ships dot the battlespace, wrecks covered in weapon impact marks and torn to pieces from unrelenting fire. A faint static hints at atomic weapon detonations, and beams of light from the surface below tear at the descending troop transports, burning them down like moths in a flame. Shuttles fall from the orbiting ships and transports, shedding from their bellies like fleas as they scatter to the planet below. You already detect the chaos of combat beginning to spread on the surface.

>>
>>49192374
>Have your corvettes move in and deploy ground forces under the cover of your larger ships

Your corvettes begin to shed their own shuttles as they quickly fall to the surface, their hulls glowing with heat as they smash through the atmosphere. As your shuttles break the clouds their sensors begin to study the landscape below, a bleak world, covered in factories and boxy looking habitation facilities covered in atmospheric filters. The air is nearly breathable, but just slightly too little oxygen, and the air is just below freezing. Your own drones find it somewhat exhaustive, but their respiratory systems are far more efficient. You will have no issue here.

Landing pods fall from the sky along with shuttles and larger dropships flying above. You pick out a number in your way and your shuttles begin to drop your flying drones. They swoop to intercept, screaming through the sky with a chittering whaling as their weapons open up and rip into the Scavenger landing craft. Other shuttles begin to touch down, their holds opening and spilling drones forth like a geyser of chitin.

Your airborne drones begin to sweep the landscape, filling the sky as they scan for the human defenders. Wasps descend like a dark cloud onto the district, spreading out as they begin to take fire, sweeping in on the Scavenger positions. A squad holds their position in a small building, firing from mashed windows at another concrete and metal structure a hundred meters away. A strafer drone flies past, rupturing the ceiling and one of the walls as it releases several concussive grenades and its seekers begin to flutter through the sky, falling in a spiral into the newly opened holes as they home in on the traces of Scavenger genetic signatures, tracing their ever present pheromone trails. They flutter through the building, over debris and shattered walls, and the first pops, swelling with reactive chemicals as it flops itself to the back of the first Scavenger it finds, and it detonates. The windows flair with fire and dust, and others flair after it. The scavs turn quickly at the small seekers, the instinctive munitions flutter like animals, innocent in their intention but devastating in their effect, and several are gunned down as they race to their targets.

You see a squad of humans taking cover in the nearby building, and others ducked into several ditches in a snow covered field nearby. They get up, watching in obvious confusion as a Scavenger dives from the second story window of a building, rattling its back in panic as two seekers dive after it. It impacts with a crunchy thud on the frosted ground, and the two seekers detonate, creating an avalanche of concrete as a corner of the building crumbles away. The humans begin to advance, sprinting up the debris ramp to the building's second level.

The scavengers blast away several more of the seekers as your wasps glide in over the building, landing on the shattered rooftop with a cluster of thuds, and they rush inside. You see several pack alphas commanding their respective squads in unison, one ordering another out the window as it trails several more seekers. It dives out as the small leathery balls of wings flutter out behind it, detonating shortly after.

You hear gunfire below as the humans begin to clear the building, your wasps rushing in as the scavengers attempt to react, diving at one of the alphas with blades unsheathed. The surrounding scavenger troops open fire, boiling away your wasps as they detonate their acid over the alien leader. It rattles its back spines in agony as they slowly break off, its face rapidly corroding as its implants sink into the dissipating goo of its flesh. More wasps fly in from the window, decapitating two scavengers as they pass. The two lash out in confusion, reaching for their bleeding necks. One trips, falling out of the window, while the other is quickly filled with a spray of chitinous slugs and drops to the ground.

The wasps rush the other alpha, sprinting on all six limbs as they dive back and forth to avoid blaster fire, and your wasps return in kind with a mixture of sting casters and their own blasters, ripping into the squad of scavenger troops.

A door flies open with a firm kick and a human charges through with a rifled slug thrower held at the ready. Its design is unknown to you, but as he uses it to place several chunks of ferrous metal into one of the scavenger troops you can tell it is largely similar to your own thorn launcher. He dispatches with the scav at the door with a pair of slugs to the chest and one to the head as it slides down the wall, and he turns to the rest of the room, his opaque helmet hiding his face as he brings his hand up as if to wretch.

Your wasps, their mandibles dripping with the almost neon colored blood of the scavengers, rip into the alpha as its last rattling cries for help fade, their blades scooping and scraping at flesh riveted with metal and wire. The wasps pull their heads out of the wounds, clicking their mandibles as their claws sweep at their eyes to clean off the gore, and they let out a crackling hiss, and most of them dive into the air, their wings spreading as it flings blood along the walls in a fine spray, and they take to the sky with a loud buzz. The last lingers, chittering at the human. He offers a hesitant nod of thanks, and your wasps twitches its antenna as it clicks its mandibles, and takes to the air.

"Bloc sixteen is clear." You hear from the surface. "Continuing to regroup with squad one-oh-seven, the road here is clear now."

More transmissions follow, your drones homing in on the human reports of incursion as squads sit pinned under blaster fire or face dwindling ammunition as they cut down approaching forces. Dropships slowly fall in the distance as your aerial drones cut down the shuttles and troop ships as they land.

Your swarm finds a squad pinned in a wrecked building, hiding from the blaster fire as they spray their weapons over shattered walls. A group of your warriors glides in, their wings fluttering to adjust their course as they control their fall, and eventually land on one of the scavengers, crushing it beneath its girth. Several wasps quickly swarm in, carrying away another of the enemy troops as your warriors rip them in half with their claws. A warrior crushing one of the smaller scavengers in its maw as it shakes its head back and forth, tossing the body through the wall where the humans squat for cover. They hoist up their weapons and begin to fire, shooting in short bursts as the scavengers as they struggle to regroup after the sudden attack.

One cleanly slices through a warrior's arm, and is bet with the other, the blade sinking through its torso, another places several blaster shots clean into your warrior's head, cracking a mandible and searing away its eye. It brings up its weapons, the large bolt of chitin punching clean through its body several times before it drops to the ground.

Above, warships lance each other with their weapons in the upper reaches of the stratosphere. Beams of light flash back and forth as corvettes broadside each other as they both fight for landing space, their hulls dumping their shuttle compliment like a flood of metal and chitin.

Your warriors simply look at the human squad, the breathing tubes on their back flaring with steam in an echoing roar, and they leap into the sky as their wings fight against gravity.

"Junction twelve is clear. All enemy xeno elements confirmed dead." You hear an odd gurgling and a gunshot. "Now confirmed dead." The human repeats.

Another position, a network of trenches beneath a series of gun emplacements that lash out at approaching shuttles, struggles to keep back a group of power armor-clad alphas. Your own flying drones skim over them, dropping a squad of heavy warriors that rip into their armor as they drop on top of them. Acid seekers fill the sky as passing hive bombers dust the trenches, melting away the armor as your drones peel back the plates and pull the pilots out organ by organ like a bird digging in a tree for grubs.

"AA bank sixteen, hostile heavy xenos eliminated... cancel orbital strike request."

"Friendly xeno force out-bound. No more hostiles on scanners, command, please advice, southern shield projector damaged but still online. Saved our asses just in time."

"Target zone is clear. We've lost a few but the bridge is still here. Enemy armor has been confirmed destroyed by friendly xeno air cover, repeat..."

Sector by sector, your drones dive into the human defenders, eventually following them as they advance on the captured districts, slowly strangling the scavenger footholds as the local human fighters begin to push them back where you see their dropships floating over several neighborhoods of concrete buildings. Your own shuttles dropping down some distance away as your larger and slower drones move across the landscape. Two colossi, each pulling themselves from a shuttle as if molting, march across a slum district, their cannons firing into the large scavenger dropship. Its hull crumples, secondary explosions rippling through its thrusters, and it begins to spin, falling in a spiral to the open clearing of some park bellow.

"Lots of speakers, all speaking, so few speak well, but speaker speaks well, yes, very well, not like round Union speakers. Only one Union human is good at speaking, yes, one. Yes." Your drone chitters softly as the space around the ship ripples into a field of stars. It twitches madly for a moment. "What was it we were speaking of?"

I'm very impressed with their soldiers' professionalism in the face of horrifying alien macrobioweapons. So now that the ground situation is taken care of we need to capture a scav ship intact, without them self-destructing it, and get their Skip Drive.

I also think we should try to trade our Quantum Realignment tech with Theseus in exchange for his Foldspace Drive. Compound this with our political maneuverings to get Valen gate tech and we'll have the most diversified FTL portfolio of any race on this spiral arm!

Also I'm sure we'd get synergistic techs going on if we unlocked the secrets of all those various FTL drives.

Yogesh scratches his beard, visibly disheveled as he gives your drone a half-smile.

"I believe you were discussing the merits, or demerits, mostly, of the Union's administration. The entire way here." He says.

"This speaker apologizes. It can be too good at speaking."

"So you said." Yogesh says. "Regardless, we have arrived in the Krasnodar system. Q-comm has established real time communication with the local comm network already. According to our sensors the enemy fleet is mostly beginning to disperse, and enemy landing craft has touched down." The admiral clicks several controls and the hologram in the center of the room flickers to several screens of security footage, helmet cams, and orbital sensor data.

"It looks like your forces have already assisted in pushing them back to their initial landing positions." He says, and clicks to the helmet cam of a drop trooper squad. Immediately the projector lets out a number of horrific screams. Fire fills the projector's view, and scavengers run from place to place, diving for cover. The screams, you realize, are not coming from any combatant, the scavengers lacking the organs, but instead from the air, where your circling drones let out the occasional screech as they dive down and rip into the flaming wreck of the crashed landing ship.

The trooper in the projector fires at several wounded scavengers, and takes down another as it leaps out of a nearby doorway, and then turns to advance on the wreck, his armor absorbing a glancing blaster shot to the shoulder. A scavenger sprints by, its body on fire before a warrior drops from the sky on top of it and tears open its torso with its mandibles. Across the street, three human troops advance slowly flanking another hive warrior as its fire spray spills over a small collection of makeshift fortifications. The humans open fire as the scavengers dive out from behind the flaming heap, quickly putting them down with bursts of short range plasma plumes.

"The Hive can prevent their escape." Your speaker says. Yogesh strokes his beard in thought.

"Our interceptors should be able to reach them rather quickly." He says and nods to a nearby officer. The officer nods back and begins barking orders into a microphone.

"All fighters deploy!" He shouts. "Caverly duty. We have runners in the battle. Cut them down." The ship rocks slightly as several of the silverhawk grav fighters fall from slots in the rotating flight deck, and in unison they rocket away, their hulls forming into slender spears before they fanish.

"Of course, we do not have enough fighters to cover all of the fleeing enemy ships, so your assistance is appreciated. From this position I doubt any of our ships short of the fighters would be able to get to them faster than your own ships." Yogesh says. He squints at several red dots on the holoscreen. "Target that formation, it's already in range of our long range munitions." He adds. Several officers let our their affirmations and the ship rocks again with the launch of several cruise missiles.

Please roll 1d100, best of 3 to help in hunting down the fleeing scavenger ships.

I don't get why everyone in this quest automatically assumes that bigger ships=deadlier ships, like they've got higher power levels or something. We've seen corvettes go toe to toe with battleships in this quest and anything going fast enough is going to punch through any armor it fires on.

If it looks like scav ships might be getting away, maybe we should blink in some reinforcements from our other fleets (like the fleet we have at Commonwealth HQ). It shouldn't be that far so our jump should be accurate and our travel really is instant or close enough. Plus it's a carrier in design which should really help with running down escapers.
>>
>>49195778
Your corvettes and frigates quickly zoom from the furball of the battle, rushing after the fleeing scavenger ships. You identify a number of formations, mostly small, rapidly accelerating ships, but there are some larger craft as well, although their fleets lack any real uniform size or hull configuration, each being constructed from what is available in the best way possible, be that the scrapped hull of an alien ship, several patched-together ship fragments, or simply a new ship made from scavenged resources. You scan the mind of your imprisoned scavenger alpha for answers, finding the fleeing ships to mostly be FTL mail curriers, their primary purpose being to relay information and orders between systems, serving largely as scouts or the messengers of a fleet, as well as possessing a moderately powerful spinal mounted particle beam, at least in most cases, and a fair amount of blaster turrets. You find it not all that dissimilar to a corvette, although it is somewhat smaller, lacking many of the internal compartments and storage bays.

In addition, you find several much larger craft, several Talon class raiders, something similar to your own battlecruiser in size, but more similar to a battleship or even a Commonwealth dreadnaught with regards to firepower. One bleeds atmosphere, likely a sign of more extensive damage, and the reason it flees, while the other two seem to guard an even larger craft, one your captive recognizes personally as the Bloodlust, a Rending class alpha vessel, named for its focus on fleet coordination, typically serving as the flagship of any large planetary raiding fleet. If it is fleeing, the scavengers here likely fully realize the battle is lost, or perhaps the ship's commander was killed in some internal explosion and the crew has elected to egress. Regardless of the reasons, you can see a wing of four silverhawks closing.

cont.
>>
>>49196233
Or.

We can silently blink in a number of stealth pods at their projected destination, the blue giant, far enough in advance that they will have plenty of time to get into position.

To blow them all up inexplicably as soon as they come out of FTL.

"Your small craft should avoid direct combat. The enemy command vessel's weapons are not visibly damaged." Your speaker says. "Although it is likely the commander is dead. This will only make the ship more dangerous and unpredictable. Small vessels should refrain from entering weapon range."

"I appreciate your concern for human life." Yogesh says. "But I assure you, it is misplaced. The silverhawk is designed to serve as an anti-capital role, destroying or damaging enemy heavy hitters ahead of the advance of a larger fleet. My only concern is that we lack the numbers to pursue all of the fleeing ships at once." Your drone chitters in affirmation as your own fleet formations begin to rapidly close the distance.

You see as several motes of light flash into existence, leaving the silverhawks as they boost ahead of your hive corvettes. The streaking missiles arc in amid a hail of point defence weapons, igniting with several quick flashes of atomic blasts that boil away the outer hull and shields of several of the smaller craft. They twitch, and begin to fall behind the others as the grav fighters open up with a nose mounted cannon that shreds into the soft half-melted hull of the craft, quickly venting the ship's atmosphere as they dance around the derelict ships before slinging themselves further ahead after the Bloodlust as they release several more nuclear warheads.

/qst/ is a steaming broken shitpile of a concentration camp/board created by a mod who hadn't seen a quest since Ruby and literally only supported by the faggots who wanted questing to die.

Elsewhere, behind your fleet, you sense a sudden burst of radiation. Your sensors pivot to see the impact of the pride of Confederate long range munitions, the Fer-de-lance gravitic missile, impact the leading Talon of a cluster of smaller mail curriers and light raiders like a newly ignited star. The blast flash-boils the hulls of the surrounding ships, the capital talon class vanishing in an instant as the vibrant star of the warhead's blast suddenly falls in on itself, collapsing into a dark spot of nothing. The shriveled, split-hulled ships fracture further, their forms shredding to dust as they rapidly orbit the black hole of the warhead, and spiral into oblivion before the maw begins to evaporate, bleeding away into nothing like a wound in the universe slowly healing itself.

You turn your sensors back to your nearing targets, as the human grav fighters slam impactor after impactor against the Bloodlust alpha ship, nukes detonating against its shields as they flicker away layer after layer. The sudden flash of three nukes ripple over the ship's hull as its shields fail section by section, and a half-dozen kinetic warheads slam into the ship's side like harpoons into the belly of a whale, expelling atmosphere in expanding sheets as the flight of grav fighters spiral around the trailing blaster fire. One catches a round and flickers in the distant light of the star as its hull bubbles and ripples, chunks flowing away from the impact as it spins wildly into the distance while the other three open fire with their rotary cannons, ripping into the gun emplacements scattered over the hull. Secondary explosions begin to go off as munitions detonate in their storage compartments and fall into space. You recognize the sudden burst of radiation of leaking antimatter, and your leading ship alerts the fighter as they drop away in time to evade the Bloodlust's death, erupting into a miniature sun with the violence of a matter-antimatter annihilation event.

>>49196961
Good point. Although our Commonwealth allies seem to be waiting with baited breath for the old fucker to just die already. Immortality for him could be a problem for our allies.

However, we could potentially sell it to Magnus and Co as THEY are the ones manipulating the emperor. We agree to provide life saving/extending treatment, and in exchange the Emperor promises to do what Magnus wants. It's a nice way to gain a new puppet and a new ally at the same time.

Of course, we should perhaps exercise a bit of caution and discretion about not appearing to be too eager to medically intervene with Commonwealth elites. They only trust us out of necessity, after all.

Honestly, even if we do have the tech (and I think we have grav tech, but not weaponized grav warheads), I'd be fine "trading" for it anyway.

We want the Commonwealth to think they can offer something of value to us so they won't be quite so worried about us turning on them. "Health" treatments, for example, would be an excellent trade item for these warheads. Frankly, I think offering "medical" tech to the Commonwealth for free is likely to make them far more suspicious of us than we want (at least more suspicious of us than they are already)
>>

"Negative, no nukes, I'm dry. Was firing kinetics only. We must have hit something."

"Roger. Appreciate the lookout, AX1! I'll fly with you any day." You hear from the fighters as they lance out several more kinetic missiles and several bolts of particle beam fire as they streak away.

"Fleet, we have a streaker, repeat, glancing shot, hull intact, transmitting vector, over." The fighters say as they arc away after their comrade and your fleet rushes in past them, hammering away at the remaining forces. Yogesh looks at the battle scanner floating in the center of the room as your speaker chitters in confusion. The admiral looks over to your drone.

"Oh, it means allied xeno, the number indicates the arbitrary numerical designation the fleet's scanners gave the ship." He says, your drone nods as the red blips on the scanner flash and wink out one by one, until the last one disappears.

"That seems to be it. Our fleet will be engaging the enemy within several minutes, but they are already breaking formation. We should begin plans for our next target." He says.

"The Hive is most efficient in ground combat. We will assist your forces." Your speaker says as it points its claw to the system of Tiberion on the holoscreen. Yogesh nods.

"So I have seen. Your warriors are ferocious, and voracious." he says. "We will sweep through the battlespace, performing several high velocity strikes and continue outward while firing munitions at any remaining, that should be sufficient after your forces assisted the local picket, and we will continue to Kalidesh." He adds.

"This is sufficient. The Hive will begin its attack on enemy forces in Tiberion." Your speaker says. Yogesh claps his hands together in agreement.

"Excellent. Perhaps... you would like some private quarters for the journey?"

"Yes!" Your speaker chirps.

"Are you sure this is necessary?"

"You want to make a good first impression, don't you?" The hologram of Elizabeth stands in the large chamber as workers carry piles of variously colored fabrics from the nearby fabricators to the the table nearby, where a number of others poke and prod at them with various chitinous devices and carvings as your thinkers simulate appealing pattern recognition algorithms through the minds of the Hope crew, searching for various aesthetically appealing patterns. Lee stands nearby in a skinsuit as a holographic projector superimposes the various results of the thinkers' designs.

"I just, I dunno, I feel a bit uncomfortable with all this." He says.

"Well it's not like you remembered to bring your dress suit when you were running from that lab, and we can't exactly just replicate your Space Forces dress uniform since you're supposed to be a Hive citizen now." Elizabeth says. "Oh no, he looks like some kind of super villain. I think the thinkers are trying to represent the Queen's head crest as a collar. Next."

"Now I just look like some kind of wizard. This is just a fancy bathrobe!" Lee says in protest.

"You do realize there are dozens of worlds where robes are quite stylish for men." Elizabeth says. Lee simply groans.

"Well, how many are in the Union?"

"Three." Elizabeth says. Lee just rolls his eyes as the hologram flickers again to a new design.

"Just give me something simple, like what you see other diplomats or the newscasters wearing. I feel more like you're just trying to design a wedding gown at this point." Lee says as the hologram flickers around him into a white organic looking skinsuit covered in red silken accents sewn into the fleshy base suit. Subtle pink accents flow within the flesh of the suit like veins. "Huh, that's better, maybe try some other color schemes?"

"No time, and besides, that's based on the Queen's own appearance." Elizabeth says. "Are you going to tell the thinkers it looks bad?"

hmmmmmmmm no I dont like letting them out liek that, it will look like we "did" something and prompt an in depth medical exam. No for now id like to hold them and say we found em stranded after a scav attack , we "helped" them.
QD would there be any possibility to make a "pawn" that the queen could directly control, like harbinger from mass effect, and would doing so to a drone increase it's reaction times and what not?
>>
>>49198739
That's because there were no concrete ideas, and nothing talked about in past threads is binding unless put to a vote by QD himself.

Since most anons want to see the Hope humans released..
I say we cloud their memories. All they know is that something went wrong, and then the Hive took care of them and kept their needs satisfied (although they still missed home). But their knowledge of time on this is off. One person might say the Hive had them for a week, another a month. Etc.
Just leave them scrambled and kind of thankful to us.

WE should ham it up, make us look like HEROS who saved them from scavengers or the obsidian queen even and play off the parasite we implanted as something she did and cant be undone without killing the host! that way we can keep our parasites AND look good!!

But their ship was poped by the Unity and we scooped them up with our story of the planet being a Holy/historic site. Which fits with our current stance on claiming the expanse and telling the union to buzz off. screwing with their memories will just raise suspicions that something other then keeping them in a creepy organic rec-room for a few weeks before shoving them into med-pods to sleep off the wait.

Are you implying parasiting wasn't the whole idea in the first place.

Clearly we need to 'test out' our 'experimental' treatment on the oldest human we've seen. Who just happens to wield enormous political power over the largest fleets in the Commonwealth.

>Remove their parasites

Your medical pods quickly perform the procedure, opening a small incision and quickly healing it again before any of the crew begin to wake. Your shuttle takes the pods, and carefully empties the humans within into a small common area for transport.

Lee examines the suit as the group of worker drones skitter up with it, carefully grown to fit, and offer extensive medical and security benefits you feel to be the baseline of minimal quality for any such suit. It quickly unfolds itself as the workers help Lee into it, and it quickly envelops him, an environmental helmet quickly unfolding and clicking over his face with a chitinous facemask.

"Ah!" He says. "I... uh, well I'm going to be honest here, I actually can see better with it on than off, but still. Shouldn't people be able to see my face?"

"Yes." Your speaker says. "But this is for safety, in case you are in danger." Several heavy warriors, vibrant red silken robes bolted into their carapace like useless wings, their armor injected with an abnormal amount of coloring to make them bone white stomps through the doorway. "As are these."
