>Meanwhile in a cramped library in the deepest blackest prisons...

We celebrate formally the 6th year in which Skirmishes have come into existence. As such this 6th year comes with something special.

For the meager compensation of a single night's pay, our dear Questi has elected to answer questions /for free/

However you must take care, as she can only answer a few questions at time but never fear for Fetcher Scholar will also help with answering punitive questions like;

" What is Skirmish ? What is this Floors business you go on about," and other strange questions that you Sleepers have the privilege to ask without ever questioning the spacetime ramifications of climbing a set of stairs.

And of Course, volunteering information and hosting the event about the world is yours truly. My role wont be to answer questions but perhaps show you a glimpse of what is to come.

Trips won't be /needed/ but masks are highly encouraged for the barest minimum of public discourse can be achieved much like the Scholars of many floors passed.
And now we begin.

Think a board game where each player is an individual piece on the board. That is what a skirmish is. This is a cooperative game so we face enemies who are controlled by the GM instead of facing each other in battles to the death.

> Here's a question: Why did you pick 4chan of all places to start?

Ohohoh this is one that I feel am qualified to answer. Regard me as a rogue scholar of no qualification if you wish but these are the words to come from mine own mouth,

This conglomeration has been the special kind of austerity in driving one to create worlds, finely tune them, and then give them the resolve to destroy them. Crush their own creations and to do so again. The sheer mercilessness of this crowd feeds this one's fire and not one has any illusion of what the other wants, when elsewhere one would confine themselves in safety, support, and what maybe false adulation in order to foster a half resolved dream, unchallenged.
Weak.
You can define this the perfect anarchy but I simply see it as amusing.

Will We Get Trolls ?
Will we have the 60th visitor tell us to find our own space ?
It goes on.

Perhaps a new Runner who will throw themselves to a nearest black hole only to show up again under a different name ?

These are all honest expressions that I've the fortunate life of having to negotiate with due to my unprofitable trade as /artist/, /creator/ and /destroyer/
Consider that a compliment of your kin. But know that everything here thus far has been driven on selfishness !

Whether you like it or not this will fester like a disease until it reaches the end of its unlife.

And for whatever reason, your masters seem to think little of intervening save for the once. And that may have just been a /clerical/ error on both parties.

C-Certainly the Behaviours of Runic and Ley will seem similar at first, but ever since the reformation of the Ignyllian Order to include Guides their more basic function of sheperding the elements have been looked on as /unnecessary/ Druidic traditions of Ley speaks differently however. Dating as far back as a few revolutions ago their spells used to look like this on a mono elemental scale.

Lux Pulse; Lights up an area, applied to a living creature makes them illuminated. For some Voidborne this is fatal.

Tera Pulse; Creates a Stone Block, however records speak of Druids making spikes, or Hurling rocks to protect themselves. Their respect of the Earth Stays their hand.

Hydra Pulse: If the Aethers are willing, a quantity of water is created, capable of spreading out over an equal amount of tiles equivalent to one's magic power. A concentrated mass of water can also be created to FORCE others back.

Aer Pulse: Interestingly Aer has a way of deflecting spells or blowing away vitriolic clouds, Much like [WaterBall] may create a concentrated mass of Aer that can Push or PULL.

Pyra Pulse: Can you guess the first wands that were banned in Convents ? It was the Fire wand, wielded now by candlekeepers and committed practitioners to the order because a pure Pyras pules can set the ground aflame but to the Ignyllian Order's credit managed to wield flame to increase one's VIGOR instead of making them burst into flames. Which - when Polarized - is possible.

Floors is a co-operative skirmish game with boardgame / strategy mechanics that are quite easy to distill.

In it, you play as a Runner who must cooperate with other Runners to find the "Stairs" of a dungeon lest your Terminus Clock ticks down and a world ending event called the Malebolgia destroys the level with you in it.

While simple the game has a High Fatality Rate, Long Midgame Development, and an as of yet unattainable endgame but is easy to pick up and try again with. The group travels collectively and everyone shares the same Terminus clock. Letting it tick down to zero is a guaranteed party wipe.

Survival is critical. And Survival hinges on teamwork, and realistic decision making for the floors care not for your feelings*

*Unless its fear. Then it gets worse.

I suppose you're asking if there was ever a simple way to go about it.

Well if one was to go simple I would suggest taking a game or concept and then distilling it down to its most basic components. This lies at the heart of game creation after all. For many reasons this becomes the first step for simply performing the act of running a game takes both mania and patience.

Take for example Chess.
If distilled down would simply be a game about players who advance half heartedly as Pawns who can only move "forward" until they can advance to more glorious stations like Knight, Bishop or Rooks.
What's the action economy ?
Are the opposing sides composed of different pieces ?
Will Checkers Slovakia get involved ?

This act is actually far harder than it sounds but as a Skirmish would be more successful than say-

A Skirmish of a /skirmish/ as this tends to lead one to distill from an already pruned concept which may lack a core by the time one is done with it. So its better to borrow /diagonally/ from more robust sources

Case in point:

Floors is simply a Skirmish of Legend of Zelda and SwordWorld
ZeroSpace is based off of Chess with assymetrical Pieces, and XCOM
Ironhearts is the World War era mashed up with Ogre Battle

It goes on. The more parts you can pick and choose the better the rending.

Despite what one may think, the majority of people in the Spiral do not actually RUN. In fact they walk. It is both the calm and necessary activity needed to survive. Below that is sleeping - which is enjoyed by the majority of those in the Town Floors , and the road alike.

Runners lead dangerous lives this is true but the /average/ life of a runner is normally 6 to 12 floors before settling down to a town to live out their days in Hyperbolic Time only to let their next of kin inherit their take. Career runners much like the people you are will likely if not prematurely die, join the Front Lines where even the hardiest of Runners go to become the legendary namesakes that their Town is founded on.

No one truly forgets about the threat of the Mal, and yet wallowing is equally unproductive. Those who do resign know that a simple escape lies in waiting. And it's been proven to be a painless affair.

Happy 6th Anniversary! May there be many more!

From what I've seen and experienced, Hand could be used to take, give, and/or insert elements in the environment around us as well as effect people both living and quite likely the dead. It can also be used to insert elements into one's own spells. Is it possible to use Hand to insert elements into the spells of others?
If so, how does this differ from In-Tandem other than the addition of words? Can it be used to insert Elements into a Guide's casting?
Can Hand be used to seize one's own and/or another's spell?
>>
>>50034633
Why are you so heartless? Who hurt you?
>>
>>50034799
The simple truth is that Hand isn't a meta spell and so won't affect the underlying mathematics of a spell.

It /can/ however manipulate or CATCH elements that make up the majorty of spells.

In essence it is useful for Hardcounters. To use these elements in another way would require one to be able to know the respective magical arts where this is possible.

Using elements to buff is in the realm of Ley,
And seizing one's own spell simply reshapes the spell into a surrogate of Hand if not /manipulate it/ as one would with their regular hands. So to speak.
>>
I've got a question science related.

How many fusion cores can you wire into a gun?I mean, it's obviously more than one but is there a finite number after which it becomes a bad idea? Or.

Well.

OH

And, just out of curiosity. What was that Volgon Warmachine Pest Control looking for in Floor 3? Who are Jormungand, Tiamat, Grauolly, Gaharmesh, and Nidhogg? Dragons? Monster signs? Spooky beings in the sky?

I know spooky beings in the sky. They aren't ususally talk talktative.

So this whole time that we've been using Hand to add to our spells, both single and In-Tandem, hasn't been doing anything except adding an extra element, assuming that element was not already present in the matrix?

May I ask about the math behind In-Tandem?

Scholar Metagame and Tips:
Learning the component skills needed for most magickal artes are open to you, best yet is findingout how they interact -- and they do interact.

In nuclear cases it is possible to commit a Rest action to learn /base abilities/ from someone who is the adept of their base class. If that individual is also a scholar, you may both partake in an information trade.

Another keynote to being a scholar is that you are always observant. You may have been struck with [Inspiration] at some point and that's when a [Star] symbol shows up above your head. That means something in that turn has piqued your interest and will likely serve as your inlet to further magical styles.

=

Role: So depending on your origin you maybe a Mage or a Guide, becoming a scholar doesnt diminish those roles but it does throw one off balance on what they /should/ be doing cause the plain fact is- they can do almost anything. This is a strength and it takes a flexible yet committed frame of mind to reign in your options to the most optimal.

=

Combat: In a battle a scholar operates best when they have full possession of the facts they know what they do not. Being able to see the field is critical, and knowing your enemy. But most overlooked are the tools one has at their disposal. Runic as a spell style has many secrets hidden within its letters.

For example, Double Arrow penetrates through objects, Darc Eye Ring reveals fog, and Tangents can be inserted into an enemy's spell as they are being casted. As does polarize.

Would taking advantage of such inspiration take up additional rest actions beyond that of leveling? Or can I learn the new disciplines at the same time.
>>
>>50035351
I see. Thanks!

I hope you don't mind so many questions.
I wanted to also ask about resistances and vulnerabilities:
I -think- we saw people take half damage from Blitz/Lightning when they had resistances to Lux. I'd like to verify if this is actually the case?
And if it is, would this work in a similar fashion with Vulnerabilities?
This line of questioning actually was brought about from looking at Obedia's card. She has a Lux and Aquas Vulnerability. How might this Vulnerability work against Illusion which is a combination of Lux and Aquas?

I had also contemplated the use of a Lux, Aquas, or Illusion filled Hand Block of some type to place said element into Obedia in a similar fashion as when a certain slurring mage attempted to pull my soul out. Would this have been a possible use of Hand, and what would the impact have been (I'm fine with a theoretical answer.)

can we get a guide for another class? Maybe Rogue? We only have them for Mage and Hunter so far.
>>
>>50035448
Like everything else, it requires a level and isn't gained for free. That's the simple ability of your Scholar Notes there.
>>
>>50035657
Wait, just read this conversation thread.

So all it requires is for both players to be present? Or for that character to have not died? There's a few hunters who got some nice prayer skills as I recall that I'd have liked to collect but the players didn't return after the hiatus, at least not yet, so they're active participation isn't required like it was before? I can just say "I study X person for Y skill" and get it? (for example, I could study 'Revenge has no Home" or "hunter's lore" from Livia and not need her to pass up other types of actions between floors?)

Active players.

I will reiterate that this is only available for the SCHOLAR Scholar's Notes and are useful ONLY FOR THE FOLLOWING:

-Spells.
-Magic Abilities from spellstyles.
- An Adept "practitioner
- And their active and volunteered permissions on the matter. [Like any item trade]

What Qualifies.
-Something listed as being under a Spell or Magical Style.
- An ability tier your trainer has full mastered. Adepts can only teach base and only Master can teach Adept.

The Price:
-Your rest/Level up action
-THEIR rest/Level up action or a book equivalent in your possession.

Remember: This is an exception to Scholars. If you are /learning/ the class this is an entirely seperate matter so helps me Pumpkin.
>>
>>50035943
wait so to teach a scholar something, then you need to give up your own action or give up a book of level equivalency to the one you're gaining?

Though Scholars can teach -each other- stuff in the same action, both using up a single level up to both teach each other a relevant thing such as a spell or rune, and to learn it?

And a scholar's notes automatically records any new things that they witness, as designated by a Star over the scholar's head? Does that mean that Thinly learned guilotine? I saw a few new words being tossed around by those gaolers and there was so much clutter on that area of the map that we might have missed a star.
>>

Teacher: Uses a Rest Action [is needed to level]
Student: Uses up a level to Learn and a Rest Action.
*Rest Actions so far are are what is available.
*PCAs are out.

Infotrade: Both are students.

Study: A book is written by a scholar detailing the contents of their notes. This same book maybe used in place of a live teacher. Any book will do. Some informative books can be found this way. Questi can be paid the maddest of premiums to write you one. Again this takes a rest or a crafting action to make.

And boy she /will/ charge you.

[Star]: It would only trigger for events or things deemed learnable. Wayward or wrong guesses will otherwise only waste your time and actions. If an event is witnessed this way. There is a possibility that the throes of inspiration drive you puzzle out the skill yourself without need of a teacher. In which case a [Study] is needed.

The only way any other class other than scholar to learn an offspec ability is during a Town or a qualified trainer**

**Runners are not these things.

I think it was mentioned once that the hollow heads of Mages was an unexplainable phenomenon -a result of gazing into the Mal, I think it was.
Is there any more information regarding the the nature and history of both caster classes?

While not able to explain the answer to the first question I will instead describe to you the situation that this game is in.

When A videogame is created, played, and then placed on a shelf. Does it cease to exist ?

Or when a piano concert is performed, concluded and no longer persistent , does the song stop ringing in your ears ?

A world gets destroyed. Another is made. People die, people live. The world is a fake, a simulacrum a story to be told. The rules break, the game concludes - does that unmake the game ? Or invalidate the progress put into it ?

This is the experience most game developers go through when designing a game. And this is the interchange of the human condition happening in real time. A world in a glass bubble, undisturbed and untested will simply not move nor turn. It is a statue. Solid and real, yet impotent. You are not stirred, you are not invited to interact with it.
It should be written in a book instead. And even those works go through the editor's axe if not the author's.

What I am doing here in all honestly. Is allowing a story to write itself through the actions and agency of those that inhabit it. My trust in you equates to that of a single runner or perhaps 30 runners. It is pathetic yet promising at the same time.

In my opinion this is a game in the truest sense. I merely proctor the contents of this world and if need be play as the opposition. Losing is not my concern. Your destruction is not my concern. The world being "true" is far more important than both these things.

It just is.

Where does the runner's guild get all the mad cash it uses to pay runners for their stories? Jenny' the 13th semi-viable demon-host; are there some cool stories about the others? Or is it mostly tragic failure?

What is a Nihilid? Why does it need a host? And how do you make sure you don't have one in your brain-case?

What's the official Volga Anthem?

What's the spookiest creature you've yet seen? The cuddliest?

Reading through the thread and this peaked my interest: >>50033479

Who is this mysterious paladin?
>>
>>50036989
Yeah but that just underlines my entire point. What is the runner guild's source of income? They don't sell anything that I can tell, they don't buy anything to resell it. They put up bounties, they dissiminate news, and they pay runners for stories. I can be plenty curious about how it works since it -must- work considering they're paying me, and I never pay them, nor do I see the mechanism by which my money eventually reaches them.

The Mal is a force of nature, it's not a thing of man. We might never stop the Mal, though I hope one day we might find a way to do so. I could spend my entire life trying to understand how the mal functions, and entire civilizations have spent their entire existences trying to do so only to be extinguished by it.

I think I have a better chance of understanding how the Runners Guild gets it's money than I do the functionings of the Mal, and so it's more productive to ask questions about it rather than the Mal.

=Ahh the old debate=
Long ago there existed many distinct sources of magic, but it was clear that they all flowed in tandem towards a greater flow. This was considered to be the Ley, and the mana observed here was a force privy to those who were aligned with such elements, druids, dragons, fae, and even elementals were the trademarks of such a source and they drew from the world around them.

Runic wyzards on the other hand have long ago been able to draw aether from the realm without. A void yet to be explored or known but is there all the same and affirmed with the commanding meaning of Thought itself and even the distant stars.

These two were regarded as equally "harmless" until such a time that the Mal has opened up and the falling aethers created a unique situation with the downpour of excess aethers and the rising level of heavy consolidated aethers with nowhere to escape but down. Legends say that mages of the void has been able to harness this dark power to great effect, picking out tepid aethers from the aer and using it to ascend while it became questionable if they still kept their souls at all.

It was believed that as a defense mechanism to the pulling influences of the MAL, mages had to remove their brain and suffuse it into the escaping aethers that are compelled with a singular will to go upwards. Meanwhile, Guides who are possessed of the Blood of Dragons, Fae, or other such creatures who commanded the mana of their world simply compelled themselves to keep going much like any living being, taking with them a sliver of their dying world's last breath as it fell to the Mal's greed.

Since Poka might be using Barthol's staff and for the benefit of all Poka will chase here are more Pulse questions

Pulses have different effects when cast on different targets yes? How many individual effects exist? Is there a difference when cats on empty terrain or a friendly character or a enemy character.

Barthol's staff has 3 elements Pyras, Hydra and Darc This will mean it can do 6 type of pulses. So far my info about these is as follows following.
Base elements

Hydra Pulse - creates a splash of Water, washes away wards/runes/fire and damages water vulnerable enemies.
Pyras Pulse - increases vigor? What in game effect does this mean? is it a buff? A stat change? How much? How long does it last? Does it create fire when cast on ground? Does it destroy ice?
Darc Pulse - Heals undead, harms living, the reverse of the base pulse spell. Does it create a dark area when cast on terrain like the opposite of Lux?

meta elements

Hydra+Pyras = Acid - Creates acid instead of water? Does it sunder Armor? Does it deal damage? How much? Does it have different effect when cast on ground or allies?
Hydra+Darc = Poison - Anti regeneration? Poisons the enemy instead of healing? For how much damage/turn? How long does it last? Do multiple poisons stack? Does it have different effect when cast on ground or allies?
Pyras+Darc= Cold - Creates ice? Does it do damage or freezes the enemy? If yes how long and how much does it work? Does it remove fire? Does it have different effect when cast on ground or allies? Can it create icy terrain?

What if one dual wields wands? So far I knew that dual wielding wands only gives the benefit of being able to cast with them individually without needing to switch hands. However you only gain the stats from the one you used to cast the spell and they don't stack. The elements from different ones cannot be combined or mixed. But if already you know an element by default then they can be mixed with the wand's elements.

Finally what is the "basic" Pulse spell that we cast when we have no wand equipped? Can that be cast with a wand in hand regardless of the wand's elements? Does it use the wand's stats or just base stats?

There's a reason why this information wasn't free to begin with. It would simply be /too good/ for it to be free.

So let's meet halfway here and give you an idea of how Pulse begins /shift/ when fusion elements are introduced.

The nature of the spells change depending on who or what you cast them to. In this case its Person or a Tile.

On a tile, you can expect an elemental equivalent to crop up from the Floor or aer or what have you. On a person Leylines of that element travel through them but causes them no harm even though some effects cause it indirectly.

Keeping up ? Good cause I'm not slowing down.

When Fusion elements get introduced their behavior is still the same on FLoor Tiles but in people the effect is markedly /beneficial/

Yes. Even Poison !

If you have figured out that a Poison Pulse casted on anyone living and breathing /cures/ them of Poison then you either have really trusting friends , or your betrayal took a left turn.

When The effect is Polarized however, you can be sure to expect Poison to do exactly what Poison would do if lobbed at someone's aether.

Cold increases one's Mag DEF by creating a barrier with a physical HP If aimed at their od, but creates a font of ice when casted externally.

And Acid applied to one's Od will grant one immunity from Ill effects for a number of turns.

And while I was hoarding all this information waiting to get paid for it , shouldn't you have found all this out Ms. I'mgonnabethebestguide !

As for your wands being indpendently wielded... well wands aren't supposed to be dual wielded really. But it's interesting that you and gilda are even trying it out of desperation !
>>
>>50037414
But I will say this.

If you use a pulse spell with nothing but your own element then... technically its your life being used as a conduit. Don't make a habit of that or all our ghouls are gonna regret it ! .

"I have recently attained 'mastery' over runic magic, or so it is called. However, I do not feel the least bit like I may be called a master of anything. I've not the strength nor the depth of purpose to consider myself as such. What's more, I find myself saddled with a decision that I feel unequipped to make: I must find a new path to walk in order to hone my skill, and knowledge."

"I look to my colleagues for guidance and I find that their answer has been to borrow power from elsewhere; from technology, from beings of the aether, and from the ley itself."
"I look to my comrades and I find them enticed by dragons, midians, ghouls, and more. They find power in bindings of spirit and supernatural afflictions."
"I look to my enemies for ideas, and all I find are maladies of the mind and darkness of the soul. They have abandoned reason in order to simply exist amid this tumultuous world."

"I have no desire to embrace power that is borrowed from another. Borrowed power is merely the noose upon which once-great men are hanged. It ultimately belongs to another, and as such it is beholden to another. I must say that I admire the simple strength of the Knight, or the dutiful zeal of the Militia, for they make do with nothing more than their own strength of arms. They are not reliant on anyone but themselves."

"I called 'master' among those that bend the void to their will, and yet I am unsure of myself. Perhaps you've some advice for one such as I on what path I should walk?"

I believe I can answer this. Every single faction has its own base class list, our own base classes are just those that we've started out with as an independent running group which calls in people with wanderlust or otherwise separated from their homes. There are overlaps, you find Hunters among Red Street, the Skyward Order and in the Shiraiya Clinic for example.

What we call advanced classes we find might sometimes be considered a base class in those factions instead. I believe the Druid is one of those, it is just that Guides can learn from them and adapt to their magic.

When are games usually run?
>>
>>50048077

Games are usually run over the course of (a) week(s), with one full phase per day.

So the time constraints associated with traditional quests aren't really there anymore.

Though there will probably be an announcement when our current game resumes.
>>
>>50048077

The game runs in phases. Action phase is when players can act and post actions. The window to post actions is usually very large, like in the realm of 10-15 hours. So as long as you find the thread and check it out once a day you should be fine.

Keep in mind it takes a while to know what the fuck is going on. It's a lot like dwarf fortress. It's a mess until you understand what's going on. So when you first start its best to only look at you're immediate surroundings

lightning reflexes + takedown + moonsault: you moonsault onto first enemy to fire at you from overwatch. They are downed. Once Tap

lightning reflexes + kicksteal : First melee attack against you this turn is dodged, enemy is downed. Once Tap

Takedown + Backstab : Approach a target from behind to perform a non lethal takedown, KO it for three turns

Takedown + Backstab : Run into a target from the back to stun them and send them sprawling . Stun and distance they slide forward depends on how much speed you built up. Only works on medium or smaller targets.

Still needs a 3 combo skillz

LR+KS+TD: Nothing Personal: use a prepared action to dodge an attack slip behind an enemy and disarm. A weapon arte can be done instead of disarm.

Weapon Throw+scuttle: Fan throw: throw a weapon at the ground that splits into 3 projectiles. Throw weapon is destroyed.

Strategy talk: I'm going to spearhead as direct a path as I can manage directly for the stairs. I need some people to volunteer. As I go, I'll be dropping rigs. I'll need some other hunters with rig to drop rigs as they go in other directions. If this is pulled off right we'll be able to evacuate everyone fast.

Anyone who is up for helping me spear ahead on this, and is willing to ignore everything else in favor of this, put
>[*Vanguard*]
In your tripcode. Newbies can apply, but realize we'll be breaking ground first and foremost. One of us needs to bring chalk with us so we can draw wards for the guides and mages behind us as well.
>>
>>50058632
"Mabye, Mister Hetros with my new weapon I believe I can help in creating a path or disabling giant creatures. If not I promise that I will try to plant rigs around the floor so that we can evacuate people more easily. So lets do this and try not to die."
>>
>>50058632
Did someone say "Spearhead" ? I'm basically the toughest guy out there, I can bring down walls, move and attack, and I have decent mobility.

Perfect fit, right ?

Then add the [*Vanguard*] tag to your title. We'll be punching through at the fastest possible speed once I've rested. I also have two Jerkies to hand out.

>>
>>50058939
Well Zieg, I can think of ways you can be truly terrifying with your skills. You should be using skin tear and skin steal more often, wear the enemy like a shadow weasel would, get in close on the enemy, then go full horror-terror mode, whole-sale some dude, then rogue-throw him into his friends.
>>
>>50058973
Well yeah but we always get in shitty situations against nightmarish monsters that are always aware of everything.

test it on the next vaguly humanoid thing you fight, and skin steal -should- work on monsters too given the whole way that shadowweasels worked, it probably doesn't have to be humanoid.

>>50058632
Depending on the outcome of the phase I'll be looking to join [*Vanguard*] given that the Oaths are not an act to activate. I'll also be able to slap down wards without needing chalk, and provide good cover with shield formation. If I'm not of a decent status to make the run then I'll focus on keeping the bulk of our group safe.
>>
Do Sword Artes only apply to Knights?
>>
>>50060479
Nope, everyone gets sword artes!
Even mages!
But mages (as well as any other class) need to kill with a sword to gain sword artes and spend zeal to unlock the skills.
Which makes me wonder.
Are there Book Artes for hitting and killing a creature with a book?

Wait so there are about 6 factions with their own classes of an indeterminate number and some advance classes are base classes of these factions. How is that possible? Using a shinobi as an example, their skills aren't totally reliant on a rogues but they are well complimented. On the other spectrum a viscount relies on having a rig for several of its skills.

Are there some classes that follow this trend and others that don't?
>>
>>50061155
I imagine some follow the trend and others don't. Slayer could be a base class for example, where as Viscount obviously couldn't. That said, we know for a fact that the Viscount is a major class of the Circle of Hunters, which, if not directly affiliated with the Skyward Order, is a major friend of it.

And then you can look at Ghoul, and Vampyre, both are probably base classes of the House of M.
>>
>>50052163
Huh that one's easy,

A Reassembled Spreadshot yields the following:
The next shot is a Spreadshot until the magazine's done.
The next shot is a Clustershot [+1Aoe from contact point] until the magazine's done
or
The next shot is single StreamShot of repulsion , sending a target back with force damage.

Some classes are very much clearly advanced versions of a base class. Militia and Marine, Hunter and Viscount, Guide and Navigator. Others, mostly the hybrid classes, but sometimes 'pure' evolution show up as base classes in other factions.

Personally I don't believe Shinobi is a base class, but in the Red Street factions home it might descend from a different base class then Rogue which is close enough too rogue to cross over. Perhaps the long lost Treasure Hunter finds its home there.

Alright now that most of everyone here... you probably all have some questions.. or don't and likely accepted your situation.

But I'll answer the chief one; We're in the Pneumaether labyrinth.

As you know it's an area deep below the umbral sea -- that is it's the hypochronous form of the Mal's influence as translated by the Crystal Corridor's space time distortion. Don't be alarmed, that we live yet is testmanent to this /structure's/ design.

Of course since this area used to be the previous corridors of ages past it must be. But because it was visited by residents older than even the creatures in the understairs we can only assume that only death remains in these steps. And not only that but the oppressive /dead/ aethers that are resigned to accumulate in these halls, pushing the umbral sea back.

There in lies the rub sea. The reason we're all locked up here with no memory of our arrival is simply because we have been saturated here for an indeterminate amount of time - saturated in the very dead airs of this place. This has troubling implications but I have proven that we live yet. If not slightly addled by the stagnant aer.

Speaking of the aetheric pressure, there is another quality that I should mention, it's ... we'll it's the pressure itself. You see this prison is build in layers locked away by those valve doors there however we've been able to divine the structure's layout by simply travelling through Maryland's limited memory of it. But should those doors open, the pressure will escape from the lower sections of the prison, and the Umbral sea level rise. This creates two conditions;

The First: In order to escape we must find the pressure door above us

The Second: Whoever notices our escape will surely notice that the pressure has fluctuated and those selfsame doors will close on us.

Maryland was kind enough to offer a third feature of those Valve doors however; they are automated. So neither the doctor nor us can truly do anything about it.
>>
>>50064812

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCEDfZgDPS8

When those Valve Doors close, it will be because the Umbral Sea has reached a critical point and to preserve the pressure must close to prevent it from rising further.

Our fates UNDER the doors will be hard to determine if this was to happen. But rest assured nothing in the history of this prison gets above those doors once they close. It's mathematically proven to be true since not even the Aether that prevent the Umbral Sea's rise makes it through.

Now, some very hard truths on the matter.

When we were captured, the last thing I remember was the Wyrd Hunt being attacked on all sides both on the Floor and in the Corridors. The fate of the others are unknown and with the disparate time differences of the two realms it's unsure if they are even in this life anymore. You must assume that anyone not in those cells or with us.... is lost, however I would not demolish the hope that everyone else is safe. /They must be/ and they simply await us.
>>
>>50064812
I have a question about Acid's pulse, immunity. Would it prevent mortality and fatality effects such as those on Ghouls and Midians?
>>
>>50064849

With that said our resolve isn't the only thing challenged this FLoor, nay our very ability to ascend is being opposed by it's Gaolers. According to the tales left by older prisoners here we are dealing with ...
well.. just listen.

" In herest be the daemon's domain for these wards are ruled by Gaolers Six ,

I.The Collectors of whom wore the face of those damnable mage hunters that ruint my family. "
II. The Giant of whom they captured and crowned as their loyal dog after his bloodlust has driven 'im mad
III. The Knights of whome there are 6. For they have been charged the Order's best, and resigned to life in these Halls. Their zeal prevents them from leaving not till they see us eaten by the Mal.
IV. The Sisters of Whom there are 6. The Twisted sisters were once prisoners older than even the First summoners to be captured. They feast on them delight in their anguish and wear their skins like so many toys. Beware the sisters for there is no end to them.
V. The Doctor. A man who seems to be in control of these halls has joined their circle delightning in his creations and putting us to work on making infernal weapons for the highest Bidder. This is said to be a few of his toyes for I cannot fathom deeper depths to his machinations.
VI. The Traitor. You 'll know the traitor not for they-

The note ends here...

"Besides the Reapers there are others willing to keep us here. Know also that the Prisoners of this depth are those sentenced to die by the mal but are according to many records, beyond death and so were locked away here where no recourse exists but down -- and perhaps lower.
>>
>>50064866
" As far as I understand it, it would only prevent internal statuses from taking root so if you've already gotten it, then it's too late. The only exception here would be petrification and other forms of crystallization I believe... "

*coughs* anyways back to this.

" With Runner not present, it falls on me to be his replacement. Once we get out of this prison, we can return to our usual quest of killing astral creatures "
>>
>>50064936
"So basically, what you're saying is that if the doors close on us after we've opened them once, they'll STAY closed. Can we close the pressure doors behind ourselves as well? Seal the passages behind us? And prevent pressure from building improperly?"
>>
Im afraid these doors only open or close under strictest conditions. . . . now if I was to calculate those conditions to you I can safely say that these doors should only Open Once, or Close Once. Doing so would irrevocably change the pressure of the pneumaether. And by that logic some doors could open or close based on the readings of our Terminus Clocks - which measure the gravitational proximity of the mal - in a short phrase.
>>
>>50064812
>>50064849
>>50065127
"It is a good thing, then, that our adversaries so graciously provided us with a handful of tomes capable of casting Vacuum magic with. While I am under no illusion that they will be as effective as one might hope, they would give us some small measure of control over pressure differentials if used properly, would they not?"
>>
What are the stats on Treachercide? This has suddenly become very relevant.
>>
>>50065127

So, guys, this seems interesting and I'm thinking about joining but I have several questions:

What is the current situation of the party? Where will I appear? In which floor are we? Since I will be a lvl1 character does it mean I will get oneshotted by a lvl99 random enemy or will I be able to fight some lvl1 monsters?
>>
>>50070480
We are in an ancient prison, subfloor 2. The party is in the last stages of calmly but panickedly evacuating from subfloor 1. No one knows where we will appear since the deployment on subfloor 2 haven't yet started. Any Lv 1 character can be useful except mage. More Guides and Hunters are always welcome. You'll probably have to avoid direct combat though. You'd be able to fight Lv 1 monsters, the question is whether you'll find any.
>>
>>50069868

I wouldn't want to test that myself, since spirit is lux based? May end up giving midians a damage over time instead of regen.
>>
>>50070480
So, guys, this seems interesting and I'm thinking about joining but I have several questions:

What is the current situation of the party?
There are roughly 30 people with about half being veterans half being newbies.

Where will I appear? In which floor are we?
We are currently on Floor 6 (consider this the episode) escaping a horrific prison of death and ancient horrors. Currently on the 2nd subfloor and have around 20 turns to make it happen half our team is currently resting.

>Since I will be a lvl1 character does it mean I will get oneshotted by a lvl99 random enemy or will I be able to fight some lvl1 monsters?
If you play like a fool and go up against the unknown then yes you will be one shotted. Sure you will not be fighting the badass boss that threatens lvl 10 players. But this is a team game and there are ways for even level 1 players to be useful just by simple actions of picking up stray items, delivering items, helping people into position, drawing wards/runes etc. There will be lower level monsters you can help to handle in a group of lower levels but indeed the death chance is higher.

>>50070566
A level 1 mage may not have spells that are useful but unless he comes with no items he comes a precious chalk and that can help drawing runes/wards.
>>
>>50070757
A level 1 mage at minimum has a fire book and student notes of some kind, and if you get oneshotted you can always roll the death dice. Velen only had a two word book up until like a couple turns ago. Also runes are WAY underused.
>>
>>50070818
The problem with the low level mage is everything has more MAGDEF than you can defeat and apart from that you only have chalk that you're generally too squishy to use where it's needed.

I concur on runes being underused though.
>>
>>50070845
As a newbie mage one of the very first thing you will want to do is to read the book in your bag. That will give you a secondary element to use. Which leads to my second point.

Drawing runes is one way to help, however Block as a spell can be useful as well. If you manage to get Teras Line Block you can make bridges, pyras can create light by making a burning tile. Block Aer will help clear poison gasses, Block Hydras will clear out dangerous liquids like poison and acid.

In regards to where you'll spawn, it'd be in the room everyone is in. That is only if you wait until we've fully evacuated the current subfloor.

>>50070727
But midians have regen innately right? I thought that was how they recovered naturally outside of actively biting people for (what I've heard to be described as) delicious vitae.
>>
>>50071539
No way everyone will spawn in that room, there's just no space. Probably somewhere nearby where the For of War currently is.
>>
>>50071563
Alright so I guess nobody read the whole deal that when you >Rest you're dismissed from the map. Maybe people missed the visual cue on resting characters that they are faded-out quite a bit. Perhaps they just skimmed over threads or don't go into the IRC to confirm or refute their assumptions.

In any of those cases, there is no means that there isn't enough room for people in there until Monday/Questi/Pumpkin declares it otherwise. There are mechanics in place which so far have shown that we can fit multiple people in the same space as well. Maybe two at max, but that's still more than enough room for everyone in our 40 or so party population to be in the safe room.

>>
>>50071539

Midian regeneration may be different than the one given by spirit pulse. I mean if livia wants to take that risk, don't let me stop you, but don't you dare cast it on me without knowing if it harms midians or not.

>>
>>50070480
>get one-shooted

Yes. But only because most do.
>>
>>50067419
Got a list of questions, but I'll sit with two easy yes/no ones for now.

What are the effects of Spirit pulse on a Midian/lux fatal character? As in; does a Spirit pulse regen effect act as a poison or life-drain effect on a midian?

If a character has the four default skills of a base class but didn't go adept, can a master of that base class teach them the adept skills then? If this was already answered in the earlier question regarding cross-class skill learning then just ignore this question.
>>
I've got a question.

I've seen the alquemist use a 5 word Engrave action, but according to the adept sheet >>50035055
the TEK says 3 words, not 5. The base one has 2.

Did Coffe accidentally combine his base class alq box with this advanced class alq box and triple their total stats together?
>>
>>50076016
The TEK says "+3 words". An important distinction since what gives the base alquemist their 2 words, their 2 chambers, is an off hand item, not armor. This is very very important, because it means the TEK can improve even the most basic book in the same manner.
>>
Rabbitspaw has questions, Misterly Scholarly. Is it okay if he asks a few? Will try to be concise-precise.

Also Rabbit can pay a little bit if it is required-neccessary as due compensation.

Would like to know if!

Lux Pact needs Lux. Lux is from sunlight, and light, and nice things. Not much in prison, so is small supply. Can Lux Pact people like Rabbit gather Lux with their Actions?

Rabbit promises he is not trying to start a cult-sect but maybe other Wyrdies would like to know about beneficial scheme of great dragon. Can Lux Pact people help others form a Lux Pact?

Rabbitspaw once detonated-destroyed 33 evil mobolins. Helpful Grenouille did special magic in a big desert. Sigismund fought many people with a sword. All used Lux Breaths to aid-help. This is Magic! Is not a mage.

Maybe Rabbits can ask how much Lux Breath can help with?

M-maye Rabbit can even ask how much it helps to have Conviction to channel Lux Breath to do a Specific Thing?

(please also tell Rabbit how to cook riceballs please please please please)
>>
>>50076349
Every adept item says +stat. If they all go on top of your starting armor to improve their stats, everyoe should take advantage of it.
The TEK is its own seperate item and not the lvl 2 Tinker's Kit that an alquemist start with. So how is it and the starting it somehow combining their stats?
Also can an alquemist use their adept tek to give a book +3 words? Ball ball ball ball ball ball RING with alquemist Mag would be fantastic.
