>>51194361California is basically a Nazi work/death camp. it's ruled by greed, lust, and envy. the closer you get to the city the more despicable and diabolic the demons and devils get. while the cities are prosperous by hells standards, they are also extremely dangerous. if you don't agree with the ruling class of the cities in public, you can expect some of the worst kinds of torture. surprisingly, none of the hellions outside of the cities privately agree with these opinions.all the rest of hell desires to see California fall into the flaming abyss, as it has to support the very existence of it somehow, while it gives nothing in return.

>>51194361New Jersey already has the highest population density.Let's jack it up higher and higher and higher. Every single square inch will be the Hudson County area except a thousand times more people. Public transportation is even shittier, with every single timeslot cramped with too many loud, mean, selfish, smelly commuters - and that's if they even come in time at all. None of the conductors follow the same set of rules, and if one of them finds you've violated some byzantine code they just made up, you get fined into an afterlife of debt. The pollution memes become real, with every day leaving you sick to your stomach and buried in trash.Every single house is shitty, cramped, overpriced "economic" apartments. Everyone is a mean asshole in thousands of dollars of debt waging away hour after hour after hour in office cubicles, convinced that they've made good decisions in life. Just about every single person in any seat of power is as corrupt as they could possibly be. So basically it's Paranoia.

(God, there is NOTHING west of Lincoln in Nebraska. And even driving across Wyoming on I-80, the most populous corridor in the state, it's like a wasteland.)Our politicians are neither uniquely corrupt nor uniquely stupid. Most of the state isn't particularly violent or crime-ridden.I guess I would have to go with our terrible weather that can be terrible in any number of ways, and with quick turnaround from one terrible side to another. We don't get as severe of blizzards as frequently as many parts of the country, but I've seen like a foot and a half of snow in a single day (multiple times). High temperatures above 100 for weeks on end (usually accompanied by oppressive humidity). Temperatures that stay below zero - even at their highs - for days in a row, with howling north winds. Thunderstorms capable of producing unpredictable tornadoes (a classmate lost her house in first grade when a storm said "fuck this house in particular" -- just totally gone). Now we're getting earthquakes (none terribly destructive yet, thankfully). Oh, and this weekend my part of the state is projected to get as much as 1 inch of ice accumulation from freezing rain -- nine years ago a similar storm left huge swaths of the state without power for days. Amp all of that up to 11 and you have a fairly awful hellscape.

HellsechusettsAll of the state is bracketed by highly mutable weather. Snow to rain to scorching heat to blasting winds and back in a day or less. Not the most intense, but impossible to adapt to or prepare for.The cities are places of deep and wildly esoteric lore. Knowledge is the only way to advance, but it is also almost impossible to acquire. Those who know too much, too little, or simply the wrong things can expect to be taken, their voices adding to the wailing chorus issuing from the unspeakable laboratories of the learned elite. The countryside is no better, though. Knowledge is proof of taint and sin, and the clannish locals persecute any who seem "off."Wherever you go, the consuming water is a constant danger. No matter how far inland, you are never far from a river or pond full of terrible beasts. Or the flocks of hellish gulls, their razor beaks calling out dark secrets in a cacophony of dead languages.

>>51194421>>51194513>>51195974The people and politics and stuff here is pretty boring, unless you really hate weed/gays/etc. And all of that stuff is way worse in CA, NY, New England, Portland, etc. But I think we could do some fun stuff with nature in WA. The entirety of Washington is constantly blanketed in an inch of volcanic ash daily from five different erupting volcanoes. The eternally gray sky fades into the featureless gray mass of the land, only to terminate at the battered waves of the cold gray Pacific. West of the Cascade mountains is a constant never-ending light rain and monthly earthquakes, causing any slight slope to become a massive mudslide. Tsunamis wash away anything within miles of the coast, and killer whales eat anyone foolish enough to enter the water. East of the Cascades, the Missoula floods have returned (thanks to the miles-thick constantly-shifting ice hellscape blanketing all of Canada). Every few years, an ice dam bursts and the entire landscape is blanketed in 300 feet of water going 100 mph and carrying boulders that would be called "mountains" on the East Coast. When the water is finally gone, the landscape reverts to a dry rocky badlands, populated only by rattlesnakes hiding in short-lived thickets of sagebrush. In the Cascade and Olympic Mountains, spared the wrath of the floods and waves, a few hardy flora survive in the dark, muddy forests. The underbrush is choked by Himalayan Blackberry, their ancient vines grown almost as thick as the towering Cedars and Douglas Fir, and their thorns grown steel-hard and splinter-sharp with age. Between these massive brambles hide the near-invisible stinging nettles, their invisible poison hairs grown not to kill, but to torture. The pain of their sting lasts weeks, growing only more intense over time. Some victims of the sting hack off their limbs to escape the pain, others throw themselves on the blackberry spikes to end it quickly.
New York dweller here. People upstate would say the rubble of Buffalo is the worst, or maybe the parts of Niagara Falls where they don't want the tourists to go. Downstaters would say whichever borough they don't like that day.In truth, no part of the state really sucks enough to be hell. Not since the eighties.
>>51197067Of the demons, there are three greater fiends who dwell in this state of hell: the Black, the Grizzled, and the Cougar. All three make their homes in the mountains, although they may also be found roaming the lowlands in search of prey. The Black demon is the most common and the least deadly. A fur-covered fiend, the size of a man, but stronger and with bigger teeth than any man. She is a curiously shy beast, as likely to flee from you as to hunt you. But she is also a trickster, charging, feinting, and retreating, over and over, just to smell the fear in the hearts of mortals. The Grizzled appears similar to the Black, but is more deadly in every aspect. His brown bulk towers many feet above even the largest of men, and he is far stockier and stronger than his darker counterpart. His true name, Horribilis, refers not to his appearance, but to his terrifying character. He is an unstoppable force of rage, an insatiable glutton, a fearless killer. The only mercy is his rarity. The Cougar, deadliest of the three major demons, is also the most secretive. It is rarely seen, appearing only the moment before it strikes. It feels neither anger nor fear, it is a cold beast focused only on the business of killing. It moves faster than you can see, instantly piercing your neck with teeth long enough to piece straight through and out the other side. Of those who travel and dwell in its territory, very few may claim to have seen the Cougar, not merely because of its elusiveness, but because those who see it rarely survive.A fourth greater fiend is rumored to exist: the Sasquatch. Even the very sight of this creature will drive men mad. They become obsessed, and desperately seek out the demon whose image haunts their thoughts and their eyes. It is dangerous to speak of this creature, lest you attract its cult.

>>51197117Of the mortal tribes, there is one known as the Lumberjacks, who dwell in the deepest forests. They are a brutish, dangerous folk, their bodies honed strong by ceaseless labor. They carry terrible instruments of death: great cleaving axes, razor-sharp saws, and bladed spinning chains that let loose a great roar as they tear into flesh. When they are not being used to slaughter the unwary strangers, they take their steel weapons and turn them upon the land, tearing into forests and leaving great bare patches in their wake. They take the corpses of the trees and move them vast distances through a steep labyrinth of muddy paths that snake through the mountains. Sometimes they create great dams of logs, filling with water until the burst forth, sending massive logs barreling across the land in an imitation of the great floods to the East. Other times they hold twisted carnivals: the strongest among them demonstrate feats of murder upon the wood they harvest, while others carve strange idols using their savage weapons. None can say whether these acts belie some inscrutable purpose, or if they are simply madmen driven to wreak chaos upon the land that tortures them.

Hope you like your car, because entire generations of families have been born, raised, and died in their car waiting in traffic in Los Demonios. There's an HOV lane but only demons get to use it. There's no public transportation at all. The weather's nice but there's never been any rain ever so the plants are perpetually dying and brown. Connecticut would be constantly wandering a dark, cold forest with wolves in it. The trees are so close together you can't see more than 10 feet in any direction.
In Western Oregon it's literally permanently raining, the whole half sans Portland is a dense, mountainous evergreen forest infested with bears, cougars, and eldritch cryptid lifeforms. Portland itself is jam-fucking-packed with holier-than-thou hipsters with terrible taste in music. Organized law doesn't exist there, because this is hell, but also because if anyone says or does anything even mildly offensive all the natives instantly know what was said, and who said it, and they slowly ostracize them out into the wilderness.Eastern Oregon, over the Rockies, has milder weather, but the dirt is a bone dry desert, even when it rains. The land is so geologically active sometimes patches of earth and rock just stand up and migrate somewhere else, destroying anything in their way with limbs tipped with glinting sunstones that have been sharpened to needle points. Solitary lost souls form the population, and they don't take kindly to strangers. They subsist on livestock farming primarily. All their animals are malnourished and disgusting.

>>51195264Genuinely surprised more of these haven't been posted.Abyssal 'Bama would range the gamut from demons bargaining contracts for infernal weapons with the Princes of Hell in Huntsville, an endless Blood War in the center of the state between two bickering Dukes as the Bear and the Tiger fight for dominance though fight has recent shifted more strongly as the Crimson Tide spreads, to the cesspit of savages and monsters that is Mobile (and most of the Ham). Near the center of the state, the empty halls of a deposed Prince of Hell lies vacant but for the shadows of the past. None dare trespass in those haunted halls, though nearly all of the inhabitants of the state wait for their fallen Prince to rise up again and lead them in unity against a foe long since gone.Across the entire state, the weather's only constant is it flux. From blistering firestorms one moment to a driving hail of sleet the next, then terrible storms that appear as though from nowhere in rain obscures the thrashing tendrils of tornadoes, always cycling from one to the other. Californian here. Lived all over this fucking state, everywhere from Eureka down to fucking Calexico. The single most hellish aspect of this state is The 5. That's Interstate Highway 5, for the rest of you. Nearly 800 miles of road, from Mexico all the way up to Oregon. For some reason a lot of you fuckers forget not only just how LARGE this state is, but how many different geographical landscapes it contains. And if you want to get fucking anywhere here more than 20 miles north or south of where you are, you have to take The 5. You get to see this entire diverse hellscape panorama from the safety of a sedan nestled between two mac trucks hauling crate trailers full of onions and tomatoes, that are somehow pushing 75mph while half-korean latino punks zip past you on their kawasaki riceburners, weaving between lanes with reckless abandon.

California would be a hell of temptation that ensares you when you get to far in, and then the torment would be getting back into it's delights by earning the right through suffering.Basically you can one day free in Disneyland, but to earn another ticket prepare to suck dick behind a dumpster.
>>51199612Funny story. My parents used to live in Davis CA, but they moved back east to be near family when my mom got pregnant with me. Had to drive all their stuff from coast to coast themselves since they were dirt-ass poor at the time.As they were coming up on the state line Hotel California started playing on the radio. They were just at the edge of the station's range, so it came in a touch scratchy. Just as they crossed out of the state they heard that classic line; "You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave." They let the ending guitar solo play as the signal faded to static.Rationally I know that the whole "psychic radio" phenomenon is just coincidence, and that story is the king coincidence. Imagine if you will a deep dark cavern, in this cavern there is a single opening where light shine down. Everyone likes to sit and bask in these warm rays, but overtime you begin to realize that the rays are shrinking. Not rapidly, but slowly you look around and see that soon all of your friends on the edge of the light will be swallowed by the cold unyielding dark beyond that pleasant warm ray of sunlight. As you look around you see other people have noticed this as well and so you start to move further to the center ignoring anyone who may still be laying down in the hopes that you will be the one to remain in that light for just a little while longer than everyone else. You barter, fight, and claw your way for that spot. While some people are content to fade into the darkness others become violent people and fight tooth and nail to throw you into the darkness so they could remain in the light. And in the end there just one person basking in a pin prick and then everything goes dark....until one day in the distance another hole opens up and light once more shines down and the cycle begins anew.

They travel in visible swarms hundreds of feet wide and can easily drain one of the condemned dry, but instead they are left on the brink of death and covered in thousands of itching sores.Perhaps worst of all for those lucky enough to have dragged themselves to one of the major cities are the demon tourists. A condemned soul will be bombarded with inanities like, "Who is the current king of Alaska?" or "Don't you all live in igloos?" They will act shocked if you insist that Alaska is indeed one of the component states of the US of Hell. Many city dwellers are soon driven back out onto the frozen tundra by sheer annoyance. This is a mistake, however, as undoubtedly one will eventually find themselves between a mother and child of the teleporting demon-moose. However unintentionally this situation may have arisen, the demon-moose mother will swiftly crush the condemned soul beneath its gargantuan hooves.

>>51204915Your experience of the upstate region is quite different from mine. The smallest towns are like that, but the university cities aren't anywhere near as decayed as you make it sound.
