The little bit of lore that appeared from the summarized post paints a really interesting picture. If you plan on leading an insurgency you DO NOT WANT The Argo Brigade to be sent in.

>>52867590
Anti-armor is a pretty weird equipment set for counter-insurgency but there's no kill like an overkill, I guess.

Or in case while scouting they come across enemy armor and need a good punch before they slip away, raiding in the night only to crucify you sideways and upside down.

>>52867686
This could be an anti-Tau regiment. Got to have something to wreck those battlesuits.
>>
This regiment seems to be effective at counter insurgency purely by turning the tables on the insurgents; breaking the enemy spirit through terror and public spectacle. It really hearkens back to a bygone era with a more simple social order. A time when a discontent among the peasantry was met with entire villages being wiped off the map and gruesome public executions to lets others know their place. Kitchener would be proud that in the far future humanity has overcome its ridiculous taboo against scorched earth policies aimed toward civilian populations backed up with overwhelming force (as used in the Boer war).

This seems to be a regiment that breaks the shit out of the upbeat Tau spirit by giving them what the Imperium has boatloads of: grimdark horror.

I propose that instead of anti-insurgency they ARE the insurgency, landing behind enemy lines on Gue'vesa and Tau populated worlds, smashing battlesuits that respond to their attacks with anti-armor weapons, using brave Ecclesiarchy priests to stir up the populace against the alien and capturing as many Tau as they can fit on crosses, leaving the roads to Tau cities shaded by a forest of moaning, bleeding Tau impaled on the wood. Any Tau or human that disagree violently with this strategy are disposed of more quickly with chem-sprayers that leave them a mangled wreck of bubbling blood add smoking bone in seconds.

Then by sunrise they're in the next city, stirring up more rebellion while the Tau struggle to pacify the first city. The job isn't pretty or glorious, and involves working with Gue'vesa instead of killing them for treason, but the Argo Brigade fills the vital niche of seizing the Tau's attention away from expansion. It is the fervent hope of their commanders that Argo can delay the admission of human border worlds to the Tau Empire long enough for the Imperium to send another crusade fleet.

While resupplying on an Imperial world, the planet and Brigade came under attack by an Eldar raiding party of Craftworld Alaitoc for purposes arcane. During the attack, Corpsman Indus, who always had a bit of a mad scientist streak, flooded the corridors of the base with various compounds that he suspected were paralyzing to Eldar. Many defenders choked and died on his toxic substances, but his fifth compound changed the course of battle.

Just as the raiders prepared to extract the mon'keigh target as they had foretold, one of Indus' compounds hit upon the Eldar pain receptors, causing their bodies to be racked with seizures from the unending pain. The defenders were able to take quite a few living Eldar prisoners, paralyzed by the pain, for the Ordo Xenos.

Indus' Fifth Compound, as it is now called, is being studied on Eldar prisoners to determine just what makes it so effective.

I think that should be revised since this story is essentially field testing an invention. It has ingenuity but not heroism, which makes it a nobel prize not a military honour.
To add heroism the equation it would be better for a lone guardsman to improvise a way of killing many xenos or a priority target. Perhaps he flooded some enclosed area with gas (from canisters or by sabotage) to stop the Eldar from performing a ritual and when it didn't work sacrificed himself to break open the helmet of the one leading the ritual; their dying leader wracked with pain inadvertently ruined the ritual causing those involved to die in a spectacularly painful manner.

Or maybe in a similar manner he stole their mcguffin and lured a bunch of them inside an industrial building or ship only to turn the whole thing into a weapon by either: turning some industrial chem vats into aerosol, rupturing chemical weapons refinery systems or stock piles, causing a catastrophic failure of a waste processing facility.

Though it might be something simple as running a kamikaze mission with one of the ships they use for dispersing chemical weapons across planets.

Also the pain could be his own which he overcame as in each scenario it could be that maybe his chem warfare gear was damaged or he didn't have it, or he was mortally wounded so he knew he was dead from the start but wanted one last act of defiance through sheer force of will.

This is sounding like the the Iraq war's premise, which is interesting considering that war did devolve into a COIN op. Maybe during the heresy their home world (and system) was the site of a virulent insurgency which caused the regiment to adopt their harsh ways. Sort of an inverse of the Tallarn Desert Raiders. This scenario could also speak to their aesthetic which could be evocative of the middle east or foreign forces in the middle east.

In general care would have to be taken to not have them turn out as just Tallarn Desert Raiders with a twist.

>>52874265
The gas could be more of a tool used because of an identity (ruthless COIN force) rather than an identity piece in of itself (the gas guard).

Well personally this focus on crucifixion immediately makes me think of the Romans and heresy punishments in medieval Europe. While the later could be used to cozy them up to the inquisition, the former when combined with the concept of counter insurgency and modern forces makes me remember the 2011 modern adaptation of Coriolanus:

So during the Heresy, the planet Argos was split by Loyalist and Traitor forces like many. Perhaps the Traitor sympathizers were the ruling Republic, and a guerilla imperialist movement supported the Emperor. After the Heresy, the imperialists took power and quickly suppressed republican thought using the same brutal tactics they had as guerillas. Lets us play with the Roman Republic vs Roman Empire themes too, and makes the Argian rebels more sympathetic since they're trying to establish a democracy.

The various Argus Brigades export their counter-insurgency skills to the Imperium when they're not suppressing widespread democratic movements at home, it being the favored system of the downtrodden commoner and all. To catch a las shot to the brain and die instantly is the best possible outcome when fighting the Brigades, for your fates range from being painfully dissolved with a chem-sprayer if they're in a hurry to being captured and crucified upside down for their amusement if they want to put forth the effort of capturing you.
>>
I have to ask...how DOES one crucify someone/thing both upsidedown AND sideways?
Are they at an angle that's down and to the left/right?
Are they sideways, but attached so that they're facing the material they're nailed to? That but head facing down?
Are they just sort of nailed parallel to the ground, facing the ground?
Are some crucified upside down, and others sideways, such that of a given group of victims the entire group is roughly equally split between the two?
Or is there something else to it?
>>
>>52877190
>>52877190
>I have to ask...how DOES one crucify someone/thing both upsidedown AND sideways?
Simple, anti gravity crucifixion.

No, but in all seriousness when one things of a crucifixion they usually think of a cross like a t with the person facing them. So an upside down crucifixion would result in a upside down cross like a ʇ, but to have it sideways would look like a l.

>But why sideways?
Having the victims not shoulder to shoulder saves space when lining a main road with crucifixions. Sure it doesn't put individuals on display as much but when you have planetary suppression numbers of people to crucify things can get a little crowded.

>Ok, but why upside down?
Its all about efficiency really. By being upside down you don't need a spear to pierce a side, just a bayonet. Also when upside down they tend to both bleed out quicker since most of the body is above the heart, and they stay conscious longer as the brain is below the heart.

So the reason you crucify upside down and sideways is to raise the efficiency levels of the process of crucifixion.

Also just consider the effects of lining a road with thousands of bleeding crucified people. The to travel the roads one would be walking through a stream of blood and by two seemingly unending rows of corpses. So yeah psychological impact would be high from just the horror of it and the awe of a force able to organize something so unimaginable.
>>
>>52877650
Also it takes less effort to raise an upside down cross, the cross is more stable, casting your gaze down will make you look at the blood and or terrified faces of victims.

I just realized, all of those corpses and all of that blood just out in the open must release an awful smell and when things start to rot it must cause some kind of public health crisis. Maybe this is intentional. Maybe the smell is another psychological weapon as even if you somehow avoid seeing it you will smell it, also the bio terrorism aspect would surely leave the loyalist (as in collaborators not just passive citizens) as the only ones with medicine and clean water. This could really ratchet up the pressure on the civilian populous to fall in line and even lead their desperation down the path of mob violence to round up suspected traitors.

Maybe the chemical warfare gear the regiment carries comes in handy when the afternoon sun beats down on their freshly lined roads.

The propaganda war is the biggest part launching or combating an insurgency or terrorist organization. While there is overlap between an insurgency and terrorist organization, terrorist actions tend to be more symbolic than strategic in most cases. Something like 87% of terrorism related deaths result from suicide terrorism (as opposed to demonstrative: hostages, or destructive: bombing a symbol/strategic target=IRA) even though it only accounts for about 5% of all terrorism. The reason I bring up terrorism is that like an insurgency, demonstrative and destructive terrorism is more about breaking the enemy's will by spreading the framing (to both populations) that the enemy are bloodthirsty tyrants. So its about pulling people toward the movement and push the enemy's people away from their aggression (Vietcong). However suicide terrorism forgoes public sympathy to attempt to inflict as much harm on the enemy as possible, even if that means losing public support. (IS wanting to be seen as evil)

So its all about attacking the framing which makes one's own force the enemy and your enemy the sympathetic party. The idea is to shift public perception of one's force from blood thirsty oppressors to noble liberators or a least a neutral force for order, and to shift the public perception of the resistance from freedom fighters to criminal opportunists who are making life difficult. Its a tug of war between two forces trying to make each other look like murderous criminals and themselves like the answer to the current trouble.

In this regard working with local leadership is important in fostering a sense of legitimacy and integration. While force is obviously required its all about how it is used as friendly losses are usually highly visible and give hope to the enemy, where as enemy losses need to be broadcast for the message to get out that they are weak.

Pic = Kurds exploiting ISIS's reputation while advertising it losses in order to win hearts and minds.
>>
>>52883640
So as bloodthirsty as Argus is, they'll always be looking for examples real or fabricated of the pro-republoc rebels atrocities? Seems like it's counter to the Imperium's usual response of censoring anything that goes wrong. Though I could see a sense of attempting to foster camaraderie with the people, the 'you are important enough to know about these threats in detail and what they do to those who join them' sort of thing.

Furthermore if one were to remove local leadership it could lead to those leaders lending their legitimacy to the resistance movement. This is a big reason why Iraq went to hell, the state was gutted as over night the military and all civil servant were out of work thanks to de-Ba'ath-ification.

So it might seem like rule by terror won't beat an insurgency or terrorist organization.

Yet this is only true if one doesn't want to commit mass murder and crimes against humanity. Speaking of Iraq Saddam used terror against his foes and benevolence to his supporters in order to create stability. Why did this work? Because he wasn't afraid of simply wiping out civilians, even innocent ones if his goal could be reached.

Now relating this back to our guard regiment: In societies with little to no human rights, authoritarian governments, and relative isolation / freedom from neighbors who might protest their behaviour, such as say a per-modern feudal theocratic society (especially a space faring one gripped in a bitter war for survival of their species), it counter insurgency is a very different endeavor. There is nothing to stop this guard regiment from being cruel. If they have to kill off 90% of a planet's population to stop a heresy, well its better than 100% in an exterminatus. And who will protest them? There are no exterior forces that care of human death, and within the empire the sentiment might be that they deserved it for threatening to weaken their species in the face of xenos.

The propaganda element still exists but its now about showing off just how brutal one's force can be, to the point where those on the side lines become against any resistance movement for fear of annihilation by an uncaring all powerful force that would rather kill them all and send new settlers than negotiate.

In a way it is similar to how ISIS moves into areas and commits atrocities to make the local population police themselves.

To some extent yes there would be a modicum of persuasion to make the enemy seem villainous and the imperium committing necessary evil to save its people, but they wouldn't have to rely on it like modern forces do as the imperium is very pre-modern in its thinking (society and public opinion). Its the classic "carrot and the stick" scenario but now the carrot is having life be how it was before, and the stick is actually very many sticks planted on either side of the city's main roads.
>>
well we definitely need a Lieutenant Titus so he can get the crosses for the Commander

I think we've got an excellent grasp on the Argus Brigade and its crucifying counter-insurgency skills, as well as the tumultuous homeworld that forces it to be so brutal.

I got thinking about how they would actually capture that many people as given their reputation the enemy would probably kill themselves than be caught. Door to door inspections might lead to some captures, but maybe they make use of less than lethal weapons such as an incapacitating gas when they can afford to.

>But what about the transport of all of those enemies to the roads for crucifixion?
Maybe they stuff them into cages on the backs of many trucks and then have a horrifying parade / reverse garbage day. Efficiency could be increased by having the cage partitioned into a prisoner side and a cross side, having an auger attached to an arm on the truck (though maybe a hand auger would be more simple as any truck could be used then), and by having long convoys of such trucks snaking down the streets. Each truck's crucifixion team could be 1 driver, 2 restrainers, 1-2 nailers / cross pullers, and 1-4 support personnel (guards, doorman, auger). The trucks would stagger their cross planting in order to speed up the convoy: i.e. they don't park, they keep moving and holes in the line are filled by subsequent trucks. When the lead truck runs out it will speed up, pull off the main road, go back for another cage, and then rejoin the convoy. The convoy could be followed by a bunch of troops who have the job of starting the flood (maybe they ride in two open back troop transports and swap drive by stabbing turns as to not make the bayoneters tired) once the trucks are clear / the sides of the road are saturated so the river can flow enough to paint the entire road.

Maybe they draft the local arbites to help with identification, apprehension, and crucifixion of heretics as to not over extend their own forces.

It sure would suck waking up in one of those trucks, and it might even suck more being at the back of the cage seeing it all happen before its your turn.

When did it change from the Argo Bridade to the Argus Brigade?
>>
>>52885598
That's my bad, I used the wrong name a few times. It should be Argo Brigade, homeworld Argus, of the Argian people.
>>
>>52885531
This is both distilled brilliance and madness. When the 1d4chan page goes up this will sure as shit get a section. I picture local Arbites working with the Brigade heavily on these. Fair Arbites try to keep the innocent out of the cages, while the corrupt will preferentially cage those who can't afford the protection money.
>>
>>52885531
They could use those non-lethal gases as a first assault on an insurgent compound/camp. Fire some gas grenades in to maximize people effected by it. The rest of the insurgents that wasnt paralyzed by the gas are plainly shot down or burnt to the crisp.

Also like efficiency plan of the crusifixion.
>>
>>52885531
Efficiency could be further increased by making the holes for the crosses before the crucifixion day, perhaps on the first day of planet fall.

When the word gets out that the Argo Bridade is coming people might go through something like the five stages of grief. People could think maybe all that crucifixion stuff is just an embellishment or urban legend... and then they see the holes being drilled. It might convince people to be on their best behavior or even try to prove their loyalty lest they fill one of those holes.

However it turns out it only takes a few drops of back splash from the flesh melting chemicals.

One faitful laundry day after an intense chemical purge, the grunt on laundry dute opened the industrial washers to find he had died all the uniforms.

He was Crucified...but low on new uniforms they decided to roll with it

I think a few drops of chemical sprayer back splash is the best idea so far, and the sands being a distant second.

I have 3 reasons I disagree with the blood idea

The first is blood dries a rusty brown kind of color,

The second is with the trucks using mech arms to plant crosses and grab prisoners and etc I think the Argos would have this down to a science and would get very little blood on them

the third is in general I think if the world of 40k in general knows anything, it's how to get blood out of things

I get that since the fluff got pretty good that it's moving in a more serious direction but just imagine this:

Imagine being a tau on a recently annexed jungle planet. You're on a routine patrol when out of nowhere pink and green guardsmen rush out from the jungles with anti tank weapons which melt your mech suit support squad, leaving the fire troopers to counter act on foot. As you chase the insurgents through the jungle, horrific Reeeeees ring around the trees as pink penises whiz around your head, dropping every other tau soldier. Exhausted you hit the clearing and see a small outpost raided, charred to a crisp with the entire outpost crucified upside down with blown out anuses. As the fear overwhelms you, the ethereal shows up and proclaims that traps are gay. A chorus of thousands of guardsmen scream, seemingly out of nowhere as they unload a massive payload from pink basilisks that are shaped like dicks. A bane blade with WW2 style aircraft art on the side depicting coldsteel the hedge hog comes into view and directs its cannon directly at your ethereal. Over the radio the driver can be heard "psssh....nothing personnel kid". He fires. You finally find peace in the next life.

I feel this is the kind of shit we should expect from the brigade.

Ok in reality an upside down cross is the Cross of Saint Peter and carve into the pope's throne. The reason being that saint peter was crucified upside down because he didn't want to steal the spot light from jesus's bit.

So what if the regiment crucifies people upsidedown partly because it sort of started as a form of symbolic retribution? Like some important historical figure was crucified by rebels and they regiment promised their revenge would be a million fold and the streets would run with blood. Then someone got the idea of crucifying them in some sort of ironic gesture but they didn't want to make the rebels look like their martyr so they decided it should be upsidedown. Then after having a good laugh about it the regiment liked it some much they made it a tradition.

The Argo Brigade
Nick name: Blue Helmets

I like to think that the mass crucifixion of dissidents would stem from its psychological impact on the remaining populace. Would the crucifixion trucks complexity mean they are allied with the Adeptus Mechanus? They already sound like the inquisition would love them.
>>
>>52904901
>Would the crucifixion trucks complexity mean they are allied with the Adeptus Mechanus?

That only assumes they have specially made trucks for the purpose, which in my opinion doesn't seem to like them. I mean they figured out a way to stream line an ancient tortuous execution technique enough so that it can be used for genocide levels of mass execution, so maybe they just use any old truck, be it commandeered civilian freight trucks or their own military logistics trucks, and plop a removable cage on the back of it so refilling trucks is just about swapping cages. This would mean they don't have to waste money on a bunch of specially made crucifixion trucks, or waste room and weight limits transporting them in their ships.

It would make sense to have the cages a pre-built item to save time and since they can be used for other things like transporting ammo boxes. Yet I can't decide if it would be better to make the crosses at the target planet as to save room and weight or to bring them to the planet in case timber isn't really something that can be obtained.

Also the making holes on day one seems good >>52886128

Hmm, its possible, I guess I also saw in my head a giant arm slamming posts into the ground as the Blue Helmets pulled a victim from the cage to be sideways upside down crucified.

>>
>>52909010

>>
Late to the party here, but if they're a COIN unit, the anti-armor and flesh-melting weapons are probably both used mostly for the psychological impact. It's one thing if your buddy gets shot while trying to blow up a local military outpost; he goes down as a martyr and his heroic sacrifice is used to recruit more insurgents. It's another thing entirely if your buddy's torso is redistributed over the rest of the squad after being hit by an anti-tank round; that probably doesn't get talked about in the same light.
>>
>>52886128
>>52905266
How about making the holes before even landing?
They'd use modified orbital weaponry to shoot big rows of holes along strategic lines and essentially trace their own roads, which they can pave later with the crushed bones of the fully decomposed corpses.
>>
>>52909010
>>52909202
Yes it has been stated that Tau and other bad humies are our main enemy.
>>
So I've decided to stop dreaming and start making the killteam Ive been talking on this thread. Will order all the mecesary stuff tonight or tomorrow. Here's the idea:

-Get Cadian Infantry for bodies and shit
- Replace heads with Anvil Industries
- these for commanders/higher ranking soldiers http://anvilindustry.co.uk/Regiments/Infantry-Heads-Helmets/beret-gasmask-veteran-heads
- these for basic grunts http://anvilindustry.co.uk/Regiments/Infantry-Heads-Helmets/PASGT-gasmask-heads
- add ton of different equipment to make them look more tacticool

Would this be solid plan? Throw in ideas if you want to.
>>
>>52909785
The krieg infantry heads from forge world would also be great for basic grunts. To pull of the UN helmet feel will need a smoother top though

The insignia should just be the two crosses. That's it. Simple, effective and intimidating
>>
>>52911163
Meltas, phosphex, and flamers are standard infantry weapons, along with M16 Lasrifles, grenade launchers are a common attachement, usually loaded with tear gas, white phosphex, and incendiary grenades.

Anti-Armor capabilities are delivered through indirect fire, through mortar teams and Griffons as well as infantry missle teams armed with RPGs and HK Missiles.

The main doctrinal emphasis in the Brigade is maximum impact.
>>
>>52885531
Truck idea is silly and dumb. The crucified victims are left in a trail of devastation, as much a deterent for future conflicts as it is a psychological weapon for current ones
>>
What if they planted a specific type of flower at the crucifixion sites so that they could be watered by the blood of the xeno and heretic? Apart from being nice symbolism it could be a nice unit insignia and a mark of shame for a city that has fields of these beautiful flowers bloom at their city gates every year.

>>52911990

the flowers are gene modded to bloom bright red when watered with blood, then whiter and whiter on each subsequent generation. a city with white flowers outside the city gates has paid its debt in full, while a city with red flowers has just been judged

>using heavy weapons on infantry
>probably use launchers, flamers, and nerve gas in hostage situations
We russia now

But this regiment probably does follow an instant retaliation doctrine like the Russian famously used in the cold war by going after the family of hostage takers and mailing then mailing the body parts back to them.

argosian poppies, the most terrifying flowers in the imperium
>>
>Sure, any flower could have been gene modded to change colour from red to white, but its not about just about the colour. Argosian poppies serve a utilitarian purpose as they can be harvested to isolate a powerful analgesic. So in death, traitors may be of better service to the Imperium than they were in life.

The regiment might intern civilians who prove their loyalty, or at least the elderly and juvenile, because someone has to plant the seeds and carve the crosses. Also by interning children the regiment can make sure those children learn (are brainwashed) to be good emperor revering imperial citizens (ImperatorJugend), and they have the family members they need for an instant retaliation doctrine to be more personal to their targets.

Basically this
>crucified sideways and upside down with soft Penises; thereby rejuvenating cockmongers to harvest children for the gods, Nigger of Memekind
becomes: planting poppies on the crosses to harvest later for medicine, and seizing the planet's children for indoctrination of service to the emperor.
>>
The flowers thing is fucking stupid. Maybe something native to Argo, but having them waste logistical support to have seeds brought to the front lines? The stench of death brought upon by rows upon rows of crucified bodies and skewered corpses is enough to send a message, ruining the motif with flowers muddies the message.

I'm US Army PsyOps, and one of the biggest things young soldiers don't understand is that when attacking the mind of the enemy you must be clear and concise. When using a speaker truck you don't muddy the transmission with a thousand other sounds, you use a few clear sounds to fool the enemy. Helicopter rotors and missiles, tank treads and canon fire. Simplicity is the key.

In a COIN environment where your main weapon is horrific psychological warfare you need to send as clear a statement as possible.

In the Argo Brigade that message is thus: We will kill you, your friends, your family, and your allies painfully and enmase, and then we will force the survivors to impale the dead upon great pikes before crucifing them alongside their fallen.

Nothing less, but for the love of god nothing more. Less is more guys
>>
>>52914467
This is some extremely solid lore, my man. Argosian Poppies are 100% canon.

Anyone else think "Upside Down and Sideways" shouldn't be doctrine but more like a unit in-joke?

>Hey Corporal, get some of your soldiers and move these crates, Supply just sent over some more planks (unit slang for the crucifixes)

>*Salutes* UDS, sir. (Upside Down and Sideways)

Its like 82nd guys responding with "Airborne" or "All the Way"
>>
>>52914717
I only saw them being used on Argos, I agree offworld they're not worth the supply chain.

>>
>>52914762
Too Roman, not enough UN.
>>
>>52914823
Not the point

Key points of the Argo Brigade (We need a more concrete designation, or a lore reason why they're the only one) should be thus.

>Crucifixion
>Chemical Weapons+Anti Armour
>Gritty UN Peacekeeper+ Haggard Generation Kill Marine+Bloodthirsty Vietnam Soldier

Adding Crucifixion trucks and poppies and a bunch of other shit just muddies the waters and makes them less interesting. Less is more, more is less.

However, while the Crucifixion truck is dumb, using dump trucks, front loaders and bulldoozers to move the living prisoners and the dead to be hung up sounds perfect and I could see an Engineer Battalion doing that very thing
>>
>>52914928
You don't like the awesome auto crucifixion truck but you think pushing live prisoners around with bulldozers and dump trucks.... Wow
>>
>>52915108
Well it's mostly because it's less retarded.

And it's more "Grimdark". Why have a sooper kewl speshuul edgetruck 3000 when you can just have soldiers do that shit by hand. Or even better make the prisoners do it before executing them for their efforts. Shoving about bodies with heavy military industrial equipment as if they were loose earth or cattle is pretty fucking dark.

Besides the army literally already has vehicles like this, but they're mainly used for minesweeping and clearing IEDS, which an anti insurgency unit would most definitely have.

Why have a silly truck when they can just repurpose EOD vehicles to perform the same function. I mean look how 40k this thing is
>>
>>52915214
>>52915108
Besides if you make the process automated then we lose impetuous for the upside down crucifixion, since making them upside down makes raising the cross easier for men, so why do it that way if the machine can do it for you?
>>
>>52915108
>>52915214
>>52915333
There was talk of the trucks just being regular trucks with cages loaded on their backs even in the first post about it
>>52885531

How about (going with the civil war/traitors angle) after Several Regiments joined the Rebellious Forces on Argo, the Imperium decreed that only One Brigade was allowed to be raised at one time, the Governor thought this was stupid and just created a Regiment and called it a brigade.

Alternatively There are several Argo Regiments, but the One on Active/The 1st Regiment (Or the Best) are called the Argo Brigade?

>>
>>52915522
No no no, I like the first idea.

>The metropolitan desert world of Argo VII, the beating mercantile heart of the the Illius X System was a world rife with political subterfuge and underhanded maneuvering. So great were the sheer amount of political assassinations and proxy wars that the Administratum accidentally labeled the world as a Death World based on sheer regional death counts alone. Eventually, in an effort to appease the overly decadent upper class, the System Governor, Dantonius Validici LX, rallied the planetary governors under his banner and called to succeed from the Imperium and to sell their AgriWorlds and Forge World to the highest bidder to purchase protection
>Before the mighty hammer of Imperial Wrath could be brought upon the system, the Steadfast arbiters of the Adeptus Arbites called into action the sole dissenting PDF, that of Argo VII itself. They did not need to appeal to any notion but their Emperor bound duty, and the Argoan PDF rallied to bring the planet to heel and the System Governor to his death.
>The PDF and the Arbites fought off nearly the entire planet and supplementart forces from across the system and even Dark Eldar and other Xenos mercenaries from across the subsector.
>The Argoan PDF fought valiantly, but their losses were too great. Reduced to a single Brigade, the fighters were pressed into hiding were they formed a covert insurgency.
>Chemical Weapons and improvised explosives harried the planet for months to come, but their most potent weapon was their gruesome propaganda; the crucified bodies of opposition leaders and other fallen. Nailed to single boarded crucifixes upside down, suspended by their feet, their hands bound below their heads or nailed at the base of the boards, these eerie monuments bathed the cities with carmine Argoan Gorepoppies, the red flower in stark contrast to the distended corpses of the fallen.
>>
>>52916327
>Eventually the will to fight the lone Brigade was broken, and the sparse civilian resistance left flocked to the Brigade, following the trail of crosses and tombstone-like displays. Bolstered by loyal servants of the Imperium the Brigade felt no mercy, offered no respite, and left no survivors. Those that did not fight with them fought against them, and those that didn't fight did not fight for the Brigade. None were spared in the purging of the Hives, few were left alive in the great Phosphex Flood of the Western Provinces, and all who surrendered in the Siege of the Validici Presidio were forced to crucify those that did not, the leaders and nobility stretched along the ferrocrete slabs torn from the System Governor's Palace and nailed to them, their bellies slashed and left to disgorge their contents. The endless waves of traitor guard were simply impaled in their formation ranks through their sides with great charnel pikes, then heaved into the air like victorious banners.

>The surviving enemy were gathered into a long queue, stretching from the bloodied throne of Dantonius Validici LX and his chemically charred form (still alive to be saved for very last), to the pearlescent gates of the fabulous Presidio.

>There they were received by the grim detainees that made the wise choice to surrender to the merciless Brigade. The Lord Commissar would then issue one of two commands, dictating the prisoner's grim fate;

>"UPSIDE DOWN!"

>"SIDEWAYS!"

>The screams of the impalings and the wailing of those forced to commit them filled the air for three days, the Brigade working in shifts to oversee the workers who slaved tirelessly, the Lord Commissar himself only pausing his dirge of judgement for water and ration but never sleep.
>>
>>52916327

My only problem is where did we get all this volkite? We must be the only fucking planet in the imperium that still has the volkite STC. When the AdMech finds out they will shit bricks

>>52865307
Executioners
>>
>>52916745
>On the dawning of the fourth day System Govenor Dantonius, dehydrated and dying but to his benefit still living, was drug from his melting throne and brought before the remaining Lord Judge and was labeled Traitoris and sentenced to death. He was taken to the great balcony of his palace, and so all could see, nailed to the very walls of his monument to excess.

>The other planets of Illius X were quelled, surrendering in their shock and horror in seeing what the Imperial force was willing to do to their own people, and perhaps lesser men would have excepted the victory. But the Argo Brigade are not lesser men. They took to the stars, and each Planetary Governor, every Hive lord, and every ranking Noble on the worlds that did not fight for their Emperor was set upon the slab, crucified before their people. Those that stood against them died in droves, their cities burned and their monuments destroyed.

>Illius X was awash with blood and the choking fog of Argoan war. The victory of the lone brigade from the throne world Argo was complete and total. When the Inquisition responded a short few years later to the threats of confederacy they found the system marred by conquest. They questioned the loyal servants of the Imperium as to the status of the system, threats of Astartes response silently hung in the air.

>To their shock, the fighters answered simply, "All is well. The Argo brigade endures. For the Emperor."

>Now the system is rife with grim labour and merciless justice. Many Regiments have been formed to meet Imperial Tithe in recompense for their crimes, but none can match the tactical acumen and psychological might of that of the storied of Argo's fighters, simply Known as the Argo Brigade. Small and efficient, the Bridage still dons dusty blue helms of the original Argo PDF, their rank and unit crest a furious red in honor of the dunes of Argo, still red with the solem Gorepoppy fields.

The regiment is entirely dark skinned, and their planet makes heavy cultural use of Rejuvanat drugs.

They are imperial fanatics, viewing service as "sacrifice", as once a citizen becomes a soldier as a child they are mourned as dead and will never return.

They have a preference for Plasma weaponry and make use of attack dogs.

>>52918541
>highly volatile incendiary gel derived in part from refined hydrocarbons which immediately ignites on contact with oxygen and is used in Imperial Flamer Weapons to provide a lethal stream of fire. This form of promethium reaches super-hot temperatures. Similar to napalm, this gel sticks to an individual, continuing to burn on its own accord, even underwater and in the vacuum of space (igniting the substance it is sticking to). If properly blessed, it can be used as the fuel for Incinerators, and thus is often used by the Imperial Inquisition's Ordo Malleus and Ordo Hereticus to purge their enemies, particularly daemonhosts and rogue psykers.
