Making History edition

Warmasters Triumvirate is an attempt at creating yet another 40k AU. The Primarchs have changed, and instead of appointing a single Warmaster upon returning to Terra, the Emperor is critically wounded on Ullanor. In order to make sure the Great Crusade continues, the Warmasters' Triumvirate is put in place. Tensions start running high and this eventually culminates in a civil war between Loyalists, Chaos Traitors and Separatists...

Obadiah Roussis, Chapter Master of the 17th chapter; the Deep Hands.

Obadiah Roussis, Dagon-born, is one the Leviathan Host's strongest warriors: few can claim to match his enormous strength. While not the most intelligent or skilled leader, Obadiah makes up for it with sheer guts and charisma. The Ist legion's method of warfare is already highly aggressive, but the 17th chapter takes this aggression to the extreme. Obadiah and his chapter feel at home in the bloodiest theater of war.

During the Brotherwar, when the Leviathan Host fell to the corruption of the Chaos Gods, the 17th chapter specifically fell to Khorne, with Obadiah becoming a Champion of the Blood God.

Obadiah goes to war equipped with the 'Qataya', a master-crafted Power Fist, forged by Taarush Amin, Chapter Master of the XVIIth legion's second chapter, in the forges of the Moonbreaker, the XVIIth legion's Primarch's flagship. The Power Fist was forged as a gift during one of the first joint campaigns between the Titan Marchers and the Leviathan Host after the latter's reunification with their Primarch. The Qataya is a custom made weapon, with modifications similar to Taarush's own Thunder hammer. The fist is heavier than a regular Power Fist, but the disruption field is more powerful than usual, allowing Obadiah to punch through the strongest of ceramite. It is also a beautiful design, engraved with Leviathan Host iconography.

>Wangdue Kossor
A Stovokor-born Techmarine of the Dusk Phantom's 7th chapter, Wangdue Kossor is well know throughout his chapter, but not simply for his skill with machines. Wangdue's distaste for staying at the side-lines whilst others charge into the fray has lead to him taking to the field in a Proteus pattern Land Raider, using the venerable vehicle and his skill at commanding it, to provide more for his brothers than simple repair work. Prior to the Brotherwar he often joked that he should have been born on Babylon V and become a member of the Loxodontii.

When the Brotherwar began Wangdue's recklessness reaped great rewards. It was not unusual to see his Land Raider crashing through enemy lines, crushing the foe beneath its treads and blowing up anything and everything it could.

Wangdue managed (somehow) to survive both the Brotherwar and Mot's Eastern Crusade, though he had to replace his Land Raider a few times. This act often led to him implementing the same "improvements" he'd made to the previous model. Most of these were innocent enough, merely making it easier to pilot the Land Raider with fewer people, but some (especially those he implemented after the start of the Brotherwar) would certainly have been considered tech heresy by some of the AdMech's more conservative member, had they ever found out.

On the table I reckon he'd be an upgrade for Proteus Land Raiders, increasing their stats and giving them the ability to self repair, but you can obviously only give one Proteus that upgrade if you have multiple.

"The Pale Hounds - Captain Kalan Har, the Iron Scar"

Captain Kalan Har of the tenth company of the eighth chapter of the Pale Hounds legion is a renown warrior that has survived since the days before the rediscovery of their primarch and whose deeds ring far into the Great Brotherwar. Starting his career as a simple line-soldier, he quickly distinguished himself from his battle brothers by being both a remarkable bike rider and accurate shooter, making him a favourite pick for operations behind enemy lines. This was much to his own chagrin though, as he much preferred to join the legion’s trademark lightning attacks that they organised to finish off an enemy. He did not ignore the call of duty, though, and continued to serve with devotion and skill both as covert ops and frontline soldier.

He earned himself the nickname “Iron Scar” as he led a furious mechanised battle against an Orkish warband, the two forces slashing and shooting from bikes and transports at eachother. In one such instance, a crude choppa slashed right across Kalan’s face down to his collarbone, the blade splintering as it scraped over the ceramite helmet and getting stuck in his power armour. Nervetheless the scrappy weapon cut his skin and bones. He continued to fight, his sight blurry from his own blood and his vitals dropping, and wouldn’t allow an Apothecary to mend him until he had slaughtered but the last Greenskin in sight. As there were no suitable prosthetics nearby, the Apothecary picked up the choppa, picked it apart and used the least soiled bits to bolt Kalan’s face together while treating the rest of the wound. Kalan himself would not allow the appalling medical aid to be replaced by a more fitting metallic strip, instead keeping the gnarly reminder how life and death are but a walk across the razor’s edge. It was at this battle that he was promoted to captain, as well, making his facial cover as much a scar as well as a badge of status.”

Poisoning the brotherhood
Ashur waited, his fingers impatiently fidgeting over the back of his other hand clenched to a fist. His conscience still battled against his convictions, especially now that the Imperium faced such turmoil. Although quite some years had passed since the fateful injury of their beloved Emperor, the Astartes still hadn’t come to resolve their discord, and barely a year ago the Sigillite resigned from his position as the Emperor’s steward, leaving the politics in the hands of mortals which only led to even more dissenting voices.
And amidst all these events, Ashur’s beloved brother Pacha still employed the tools of the warp that the Emperor had forbidden them all from utilising. It had longsince been an issue for the Lord of Bronze and Bone, however because of his love for the primarch of the famed Golden Mountains, Ashur tried to be tolerant. However to see them act in spite of their comatose father was the straw that broke the camel’s back for the primarch of the Loxodontii. Something had to be done! And so, he had called upon his esteemed brother Marduk, primarch of the Leviathan Host and accomplished Warmaster of the Triumvirate, to discuss exactly the steps of what actions to take.
Finally, the doors to his study opened. Knowing already who would enter, Ashur only gestured the arrival to enter. “Thank you a thousand-thousand times for answering my call, Marduk!”, he exclaimed, turning around and looking the Warmaster straight into the eyes. He, in turn, looked at Ashur with a mixture of brotherly love and worry when he replied: “How could I not? Your call sounded so urgent, and luckily, our fleets were already on converging paths. Now, about your appeal...”
[cont.]
>>
>>54289361
“Yes, yes, you are right”, interrupted Ashur, nervously scratching the back of his neck, “we should find a conclusion to Pacha’s impudence.”
“He only uses the resources at his disposal, brother”, did Marduk retort, “and you know my personal stance on this. Why would I order to punish a precious ally for employing but the tools at his disposal as he does his outmost to help preserve our father’s great making?”
The reprimand stung Ashur, for it was exactly how he felt. Pacha was fighting and struggling to preserve the Imperium, which in turn saved countless civilians. And yet, Ashur was convinced that Pacha must be strong enough without witchery at his side, that the Earthquake surely must be capable enough to be as a mountain in the storm without forbidden arts.
“It is exactly now that I believe we must be truer to our father’s ideals than ever before, Warmaster. The Imperium is on the brink of anarchy – Of chaos! Now where all the good we created seems to fall apart, we must see to it that His decree is not besmirched. Now that He’s… That He...”
The words failed Ashur, and much to both their surprises did tears roll down his face into his beard. Marduk stood there, puzzled, but finally an understanding smile curled his lips. “It is alright, Ashur. We all feel the same”, he paused, weighing his words, then continued, “and yet I am not fully convinced. What exactly do you mean I should do? I cannot send troops to subdue the Mountains, we are stretched thin as we already are.”
“No! Not fighting! Just… An emissary, maybe? I don’t know… Send somebody to whom he will listen! Who knows how to show they’re serious but stay their hand, and if it comes to the worst who will know how to make it be done quickly and with as little losses as possible. I don’t want to hurt Pacha but he needs to be reminded where his duty lies!”
>>
>>54289383
Marduk listened to Ashur’s words, quietly processing them. He knew just the man for the job. “I will send Isehko. I know for a fact that Pacha highly regards him, and we both know the Smoke Stalkers are very sensitive to their environment. I’m sure they can handle it and apply just about enough pressure that the Mountains will see reason.”
“Thank you! Oh, thank you a thousand, THOUSAND times, Warmaster!”, replied Ashur in joy, which only made Marduk smile all the brighter. “We are sworn to uphold the Imperial Truth, aren’t we?”, he chuckled, full well knowing that Ashur and his own legion were not particularly well off on that front, “I will send an astropathical message to the Stalkers right away. You better prepare for your next campaign, brother.”
“You are right… Thank you again, Marduk. I knew I could count on you”, Ashur sighed. With a courteous salute of the Imperial Eagle did the brothers say their farewells, and Marduk left the study. Invisible to the primarch of the Loxodontii was the devilish expression on the Warmaster’s face. He couldn’t have wished for a better chance to weaken their enemies than this! Unbeknownst to many of the other legions was Marduk heavily invested in delivering the killing blow to the Imperium of Man and the False Emperor. He was not yet ready, the time was not yet perfect, but soon it would be, and to cripple a loyalist legion like the Golden Mountains would be another turn of the clockwork’s gears towards the final hour.
Marduk eventually reached the astropath. “Relay a message for me as best you can, my good servant”, did he charmingly order, “I have a punishment to delegate.”

A: Cool logo.

B: ffffffffffuuuuuuuckimlazyanditstimetowritetheoneirolledalreadygoddamnit.

C: He's from your Legion.

D: Tulum Capal, the first Coresinger.

Tulum, like many of his brethren, displayed psyker abilities even before he joined the Second Legion. He learned the culinary arts, and how to call plant life from barren ground. None could prepare such spicy cuisine as this young Marine, and his blisteringly caustic sauces livened the palates of all who campaigned with him. Wherever his Company traveled, there Tulum was, laying waste to his foes with a Power Sword so large as to more closely resemble a meat cleaver rather than an Astartes' typical instrument of death.

And yet, for all this, for all the camaraderie and respect Tulum earned within his Legion, for all his skill... Something was missing. His dreams were wild and untamed, and Tulum's slumbering mind conjured apparitions of fire and terror. His mind whirled with ceaseless grinding and churning of a vast -thing- beyond his comprehension. The Navigators aboard his Battle-Barge feared the worst, for Tulum's description of his dreams rang all too familiar to the warp-seers.

Eventually, the burning phantasms manifested even before Tulum's waking eyes. His plant-song left him, and everything he coaxed from the ground turned to ash and dust. The fire-things began to attack the Legion, rather than wander aimlessly. Fearing for his comrades lives, Tulum struck back like a madman, driving his demons back into the darkness and shattering his sword. He exiled himself upon a nameless world. It seemed right.

Tulum spent days, weeks, months in silent meditation. The creatures came and went. In his dreams, a fire grew larger and larger, swelling to the size of worlds. It beckoned him. Ceaselessly. At last, Tulum could take no more. If the fire heralded his death then so be it. Better to have peace than this torment. What was dream? What was real? All Tulum knew, all he saw, was fire now.

>cont
>>
>>54290329
>>54292069
In time, the Company returned to that world. Their consciences would not let them rest until they knew Tulum's fate, until they bore his armor back to the Legion to do him honors in the way of their kind. When they arrived, they found a charred forest surrounding a volcanic crater, and all despaired.

As the Marines pushed into the blasted land, the remnant trunks around them began to glisten and shimmer, burned hard and glossy black like obsidian stone. They grew afraid.

In the center of the forest, there stood Tulum. There stood his armor, glowing red-hot. There stood the volcano's hardened black blood. All were one and the same. Tulum smiled at his brothers, so long apart. He said nothing, but gifted them his Power Sword, restored large as ever it had been but reforged with adamantium and stone, twisted and blended together so smoothly than one could hardly tell where the threads of metal and rock began and ended. It crackled with psychic power, and with the slightest motion a hot wind fanned the crater as if to stir the mountain once more.

It smelled of spices.

He gifted the Legion his sword, sung from the planet's very heart and imbued with the power of Tulum's own. And when the sword left his coal-dark hands, Tulum vanished in a puff of smoke and embers. Though their best Librarians, Navigators and Astropaths sought in vain for Tulum's whereabouts, to know if he crumbled into dust or merely continued his journey, the truth forever eluded them.

But the Core-Sung Blade lived on, heir to that mysterious fire. Only a truly mighty warrior of the Second Legion could wield such a hefty device. And only those who saw flames dancing behind their eyes at night could touch it and not be rendered unto ash, though ash they would always become in time unless an enemy claimed their life's blood firs.

So it would always be, through all the ages of the Imperium, when the Blade called forth a new warrior to rekindle its fire.

Did I?

I don't think so, but I did cut and paste the second half when it ran past the character limit. If I dropped some lines, they're gone now, lol.

It's meant to be ambiguous what exactly happens in the time gap between Tulum going into exile and the Company returning. I didn't want to pin down anything too exactly, so you'd have the most freedom to fit it into your main story if you so chose.

++++ Primarch of the XI Legion's Address at Nikaea ++++

>Kinnévail is garbed in heavy robes of thick and rough hides contrary to his previously vain nature. A thick, fur lined hood conceals his face, billowing sleeves covering his hands and arms. He stands from his seat at the conclave, his motions seemingly stiffer, more measured. He seems smaller than his brethren in power armour, but his loping movements still bear no small measure of the same deadly grace he had before the fateful Xenocide. He stops at the head of the council, regarding his family and comrades underneath his hood. He offers a salute to his father, a balled fist set to his chest, revealing a nearly skeletal hand wrapped in bandages scrawled with gilded scripture. He folds up his sleeves, gingerly, and lifts his hood. His unkempt mane of fair hair is shockingly absent, replaced by further inscribed passages binding his skin, evidently mottled and warped if the skin left bare about his stormy eyes is any indication. Encasing his mouth and jaw is an Astartes Rebreather, fashioned into a snarling maw, clearly possessing speaker modifications to amplify his potent voice and act as an independant sonic weapon. When he speaks, his voice seems overly smooth, his bombastic and hearty tones replaced with nearly robotic melody set to his ussual rhythmic cadence and brogue.

"Sorcery. That is what brings us to this assembly. Sorcery and the "sin" of our brother's and sons' births, to be born with powers beyond comprehension. Some of you regard these as criminal, crimes of which even I have been accused. However, I care not for rumour and suspicion of foul deeds, for you are my blood and I refuse to sow discontent without substance. Though the truth is a song I can sing. I can tell thee of what I know, of what I have seen, and suffered. I have been baptised twice, once by the water of melted mountain snow, once by roaring, impossible flame."

(CONT)
>>
>>54293418
"Flame that robbed my of my closest comrades, brothers born of blonds closer than that of blood. A flame that robbed me of my very flesh. An eldritch and harrowing conflagration wherein I witnessed things not of this or any world, a maddening scape of violent impossibility, clawing away the prison of logic and sanity. I have faced things of this nature in my home, shrouded in mysticism. These creatures from beyond would seek out the weak willed and tempt them with false bargains and dark pacts. To them in their multitudes in the flames flowering from the flames of the XV's Librarium in its entirety filled with me with such horror and inexplicable awe that I cannot escape that fateful moment in my moments of solitude. It is impossible to describe to you that eternity in flame, however..."

>Kincaid shrugs off his robes, revealing his body wreathed in the same illustrated wrapping. With a deft motion he tears the bandages off, casting them into the air for a brief, shocking moment. He loosens his mask, letting fall to the dias before him with a resounding ring. "...my wretched form will suffice for illustration." His voice is withered and cracked, rasping and deeper than before. It is unimaginable that he ever was able to sing songs to touch the heart of the Emperor. He stands before the assembly, his brothers, father, and comrades, in his bareness. His form is hideous, his skin mottled and contorted in horrific in ways, the burns displaying a shocking array of color and sickly shade, as if a rainbow where trapped underneath his twisted skin and poisoned him from within. Some parts of his body were riddled with swelling pox and boils, or splits in his skin and exposed musculature that bled freely incessantly. Some parts of his skin twisted and knotted in grotesque ways, seemingly having grown toothy protrusions or thin, intricate lattices of vein and skin, appearing as nonsensical panes of stained glass.

(CONT)
>>
>>54293634
>Other patches of skin where completely translucent and quivered to an unknowable beat, writhing with a will of their own. His face was nearly barren of skin, his cheeks burned away, exposing his charred teeth in a horrid mortis grin. His nose was similarly malformed, the tip torn away, exposing his nostrils. He was as a rotting corpse of a mutant of legendary proportions. Worse still, where his tattoos, once a mark of pride and recognition. Tales, of his own making and those he had collected from across the galaxy, musical composition, portraits of those dear to him, many lost to the Dusk Phantom's Librarium, murals of accomplishments and the climaxes of legends, where all either burned away or otherwise deformed into mockeries of their once beautiful state. It was as if his very history, every inch of his being to his very core, had been corrupted by those psychic flames, twisted into a hideous shadow of themselves, nearly past the point of recognition. He spread his arms,

"This, I show you, for there is no song nor verse nor string of words that describe this atrocity, of what transipired in that astral hell of the Halo Stars. Hundreds of men consumed by their own flaming souls, their power unshackled from their limited physical forms and hungry to burn the very cosmos. Weave your accusations and indignance and politicking amongst this court, but I have shown you the truth of this magic left unchecked. I will not condemn the Librarium of the Phantoms as criminals and mutants, but this is a power that cannot continue to exist unchecked. For the sake of the Legions, for the sake of the Imperium, we cannot simply forgive the threat of Psykers."

++++ Partial Transcript of the Vth Legion's Address at Nikea. Inquisitorial Eyes Only. Potential for Heretical Inspiration: Extremis. ++++

The Fifth Legion's Primarch speech was anticipated with great trepidation among the gathered onlookers. Of all the Legions none were so deeply involved with the Immaterium, and whatever the Emperor's decision might be it would likely bear down upon the Steel Souls most heavily of all. Yet the council was surprised to see Emil approach them garbed in simple robes of shimmering blue, trimmed in bronze and purple in emulation of his Legion's heraldry. He came not as a warrior, not with fire in his eyes and fury in his belly. His voice did not ring unto the rafters with bellowing psychic shockwaves.

Instead Emil spoke as a storyteller, as he might to a fireside gathering, rather than to the most powerful people in the Imperium sitting in conclave that might change the course of Galactic history. His tall, lanky frame did not stand bolt upright with military precision to dominate the room, but rather leaned inward as if to invite the audience to share a private remark with a trusted friend. Passion flowed from Emil's every pore, tempered with a certain precise manner of speech rarely heard from the Primarch in previous public events.

It was hard to tell where manipulation and honesty intertwined. Or if it was either one at all.

“On every world with oceans, on every planet where men find food and life upon the waves, there are stories. Tales of what might lie beneath the churning seas, and what terror emerges to consume the unwary. Beasts and monsters. It is a constant among human lands. Even where there are no waters, there are legends of that which dwells where men cannot see. Lessons for children and elders alike, told to reinforce the importance of caution and vigilance against the unknown.”

>cont.
>>
>>54293981

“I hear the arguments put forth by this council which preach that we must cease all dealings with the Warp. I understand the fear, the reflexive desire to pull our hands away like a child who places his hand on a hot stove. Who better than I and my Legion to know it? To feel it? To hear that distant crash of unnatural storm and illogical tide in the far reaches of the world beyond? Recklessly using the Warp for whatever ends we please is as treacherous as thinking to control an ocean with your hands alone. I freely tell you this. It can only end in disaster and death, as surely as I stand before you today. Therefore I stand in full agreement with those who seek a ban on sorcery. Let no man mistake my position!”

“Yet you cannot run from the sea. Walk far enough and you inevitably come to a shore. How much more true is this for the vacuum of space which encompasses all worlds? Without water we all die of thirst, powerless and in unspeakable agony. Unless some improbable relic, some eldritch artifact, some device crafted by alien mind lets us master the lightspeed barrier without resorting to Warp travel... we cannot shun those endless waters of the Immaterium. Without the Warp, the Imperium will wither and die just as surely as that man lost in a desert.”

“So we must not run from the challenge. And even more importantly we must not fear it. Ancient man learned to build rafts to carry him across still ponds, knowing if he tipped over he would surely drown. He built boats of wood to cross large lakes and inland seas. Vessels of iron and steel took those explorers across the harshest storm belts and wildest currents. Treacherous yes. And untold thousands have died through their own failings or simple whims of chance. Yet we achieved naval mastery through the power of the human will in its purest form. And we must do so again for the black sea which surrounds us all.”

“I say to you all, let myself and my Legion be your lighthouses. Your guides, your mentors, your lifeguards, your port in a storm. We stand with one foot in that ocean, yet we do not go forth unprotected. The Steel Souls have merged flesh and metal, tempered our minds and learned how to ride the currents. Let us teach you and your Librarians all that we have learned through trial and error, pain and experimentation, so that you need not repeat our blunders but draw power from our successes.”

“It is dark water beyond the veil. But we can light it if only we dare. And in truth, noble lords, honored assembly. In truth, Father, Emperor who sees as I see and knows what I know. In truth, the Steel Souls cannot abide by any doctrine that denies all use of psyker potential. It would be easier for us to learn to live without our hearts or our lungs than to sever that piece of what makes us who we are. It would be easier for us to die.”

"Judge us as you will, but do so honestly and without cowardice. That is all I ask of this august body."

++++ Inquisitorial Addendum: Records beyond this point deleted by Imperial order, origin unknown. Speculation: It is likely that individual members of the council cross-examined Primarch Emil's testimony at length, based on inferences from other records. What was said cannot be accurately determined at this time. Further inquiry into the matter will be grounds for immediate execution. ++++

"The Machine Cult of Mars does not let the arcane machinations of the Dark Age to simply roam free, and they abhor atrocities of technology too dangerous to let exist. They safeguard the cosmos from power left unchecked. Why would we simply excuse the dangers of Psykers, then, when they pose a threat to humanity? A threat possibly greater than that of the machines that the Mechanicus secrets away? Brothers, Father, I do not say these words with ease, and not simply due to the ravages of my body, but we must constrict the freedoms of these Psykers. They tempt powers we do not understand, and may never fully grasp, for they are the Beyond. I would not bet any of your lives on the will of your Librarians after what occurred with the Rangdan, and for you to allow such a gamble is an affront to each of us. It pains me to propose a sentence of slavery by any other word, but what occurred during the Xenocides musnt again. To this end I propose the most disciplined amongst your warriors, most faithful and steadfast to this cause to which we were born to see fulfilled, be instated as Wardens to guard the Psykers amongst your sons and forbid the Librarians from the using their witchery, dissolving the Librarium."

>Kincaid's guard approaches their liege, and begins to dutifully redress his bandages, an apothecary tending to his raw wounds

"There can be no other way if we are to succeed in our divine task, and I will not stand idly and risk the future on such dangerous weapons. For left unchecked, the future will be filled with naught but impossible flame."

You bastard. I love it. I love what he's ignoring and what he's not seeing. I'm thinking Gyahdred isn't there and sends a few representatives, but after the disaster, he shuts it down and does intensive research into control. Gyahdred already did a personal Nikea and has some new data. Anyways, excellent.

The Loxodontii are the Arch-Traitors, but they completely circumvent their primarch Ashur in the process. The Stargazer called Barabash is our Erebus and instead of pulling his own primarch into his schemes is exploiting the fact that Ashur leaves most of his legion to themselves, thus making him more or less oblivious to their going-ons. I have added the moment when Barabasch and Marduk come into contact into the Loxodontii lore doc under the chapter "Whispers to Screams".

>>
Linares walked into the room. His towering figure advancing slowly, directly to his seat. Accompanied by his equery and chief librarian. The group waited patiently for the Primarchs and the Emperor himself to enter the domed room where the reunion was to be held. Some representatives were already there, speaking and greeting each other. Linares asked one of his servants to bring something to drink, obviously beer, and relaxed his posture. Just when the servant returned, the Primarchs entered the room. Beer in hand, the Silver Slayer sheathed, carried only for ceremonial purposes, and Power Armor properly polished and brightened, the Lord of Ale greeted each one of his brothers. After some wait, the Emperor of Mankind appeared directly in front of his throne, absolutely unseen. After the initial greetings, the argument started. Linares waited patiently for his brothers to speak, with a look of mixed concern and hope in his face. When they were done, asked for permission to speak. It was given, and so did he spoke:

«Fellow Brothers. Father, it has been a long time. Envoys, it's a shame I don't have the pleasure to see your Masters, and Brothers of mine. First of all, let me put away this holy drink»

And left the beer bottle in his seat, guarded by his equery, who didn't doubt to take a sip or two of it.

«Alright. As everybody here, I'm here to listen, and to be listened. I have left important issues behind, to attend this reunion, so I hope this speech helps, although I doubt it. I could be easily in the last position of the row when talking about psychic powers and their uses, and about psykers themselves. Mine is a well-known weakness. I can hardly stand up when Lambach, for example, sends me a psychic message. Or even when a librarian casts a spell nearby. I'm weak against those. That could make my opinion the last one, but, maybe, it could make it the first one, too.»
>>
>>54298527
«Kincaid's story has raised concern in me. Emil's metaphors were accurate. I have my own opinion, tho. I have seen librarians casting spells that brought down entire ork gargants. I have seen how a librarian saved the life of one of my soldiers, healing him while the Apothecary was still on the way. The very message that told me to come was sent by a powerful psyker, the message itself crossed nearly the whole galaxy in a mere instant. I don't want to lie, but for me, it's terrifying. With only a thought, gigantic constructs that would have only fallen to a massive concentration of firepower have been utterly destroyed. I could be dead now because of a psychic attack, and still, I see them necessary. I won't reiterate what Emil said. Psykers are like a plasma gun. If you know how to use it, is deadly. But if you use it without experience, or you have bad luck, it will destroy you. Psykers are like that. Deadly or useful, or both, when properly trained, and dangerous to themselves and their comrades if untrained. We have to look for psykers, find them, and train them. Put them at our side. If we let them wander aimlessly, they will become dangerous. My librarius is already doing it. And we are succeeding. We find the psykers and train them. We do our job. Because it's what has to be done. Just killing or imprisonning them is not an option. This is not a tyranny.»

And took a breath

«I am no poet, but I know how to say what has to be said. I am no psyker, but I know the warp and it's perils. And using it in our favor is worthy enough to try. I have nothing more to say.»

And sitted down, took his bottle of beer, and found out that it was empty looked at both his equery and chief librarian, and listened to what his Father had to say.

We all know how Nikea ended.

These are the champion(s) for the Chosen of Hecate

>The Brothers Three

During the crusade, three legionnaires stood together against the odds. Serving with distinction throughout countless campaigns and operations; becoming champions of their legion in their own right. Each brother complemented the others’ weaknesses, allowing their own strengths to shine. However, this reliance on each other was to be their downfall. On the death world of Túyet-Vong, the brothers’ Company warred against the Eldar exodites, pushing forward in a flurry of victories.
Unbeknownst to them, the company was slowly lured further and further into the jungles; the xenos noose growing ever tighter as the Eldar manipulated incoming vox-orders, cut off supply-lines, and wore down the dogged legionnaires.
The company’s defeat was not a glorious last stand. It was not a defiant cry to the stars as their deaths were paid dearly in xenos blood. The delayed reinforcements found bodies scattered throughout the jungles. Their corpses mutilated and hanging from trees; and the Brothers Three were nowhere near each other. Each one was lured away only to be cut down under an alien and uncaring sky. By some twist of fate, however. The Brothers Three were found barely grasping to life. Immediately, they were interred into Contemptor dreadnoughts. Upon reawakening, the brothers requested that they always be deployed together, never apart. It was said amongst the other Chosen that the Brothers never shared what happened during the campaign on Túyet-Vong, only mentioning it as a dire warning to their legionnaire brethren. Lest they fall to pride and lose their brothers.
>>
>>54298821
>Eusebias

The eldest of the brothers three, Eusebias was amongst those to find his lost Primarch. Originating from Terra, the veteran legionnaire has followed his Primarch across the galaxy, and still serves his lord even in death. His dreadnought body is covered in medals and commendations from Lambach himself. Eusebias acts as the wise counsel for his two brothers, tempering Seraphim’s fervour and giving sage advice to Kyros. In battle, he wields a Kheres-pattern autocannon to deadly effect, with his combat arm underslung with twin heavy bolters. Cyclone missile launchers sit atop his back as ward against enemies from above. Since his internment into a dreadnought, Eusebias has provided staunch overwatch for his brothers on countless campaigns.
>>
>>54298834
>Kyros

The natural leader of the trio, Kyros is a firm and decisive leader. Always commanding from the front with his brothers at his sides. Kyros was always the mediator between Eusebias and Seraphium, guiding them through battle and leading them to glory. Kyros’ dreadnought body is undecorated, with only the helmet being painted a stark black. Questions have arisen surrounding this peculiar adornment. Many believe it is a sign of Kyros’ remorse. Others believe it a symbol of his burning vengeance against the enemies of the Imperium. Nevertheless, the sight of Kyros on the battlefield is sight to behold. Eye-visors glowing from the black helm gazing across the battlefield as the dreadnought’s Volkite Culverin and his clawed combat fist bring ruin to those who dare oppose him.
>>
>>54298857
>Seraphium

A raging titan of metal and flame. Even before his internment, Seraphium was known throughout the VIIIth legion for his brutal and vicious nature against his enemies. His headstrong nature was always tempered by the calm temperament of Eusebias and the level leadership of Kyros. This very nature was his doom upon Túyet-Vong, as with none of his brothers to guide him, he was led astray by his own determination to bring death to his enemies. He was brought low by a simple slice to the neck, left to lay there on the jungle floor to slowly die and writhe in agony as his fury overtook him.
Upon internment, Seraphium has grown ever more violent. His multi-melta is covered barrel-to-arm in kill-tallies, and his combat fist is equipped with a chainsword. The dreadnought body itself is scarred and pitted from battle. Burns streak across both arms and bullet holes rake across the chassis. Truly, Seraphium is death incarnate.
>>
>Author’s Note:
Eusebias – (meaning: Venerable)
Kyros – (meaning: Lordly)
Seraphium – (meaning: To burn)

I was looking up the goddess Hecate on Wikipedia, and I saw that she’s often portrayed as a triumvirate of the same entity. So the three brothers were loosely inspired by a portrayal of Hecate’s triple facet being the maiden, the mother and the crone by modern-day Wiccans (or something like that, anyway)

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. And I love to hear Lambach's defense of himself and others, since I haven't heard his voice yet, and I would like to write about Kinnévail's interactions with his brothers, especially ones that are/were dear to him

Also, the big take from this is address is Kinnévail's proposition of "Wardens" which will act as our AU Chaplains, until Kincaid goes full Westboro which then he will convert some Wardens into Chaplains

Wardens would have more in common with Imperial Army/Guard Disciplinarians/Commisars than traditional Chaplains.

>>54300628
I think that makes Kincaid's immolation that much more important, since he may not be super popular amongst ALL his brothers, but he brought people together, even if it was having them find that they dislike him equally. When he was burned he began to regress, and those bonds of fellowship between his friends and critics began to unwind

From the wiki:
The Pharos is a pre-Imperial piece of Xenos bio-technology that is able to harness empathy to aid in Warp travel. Used to navigate the Warp much like the Astronomican, except while the former acted as a "lighthouse" in the Warp the latter was a "lantern". The Pharos allowed the user to find or even teleport to a location they either consciously or subconsciously desired.

Pharos was discovered on Sotha by Dantioch during the Horus Heresy and used by Roboute Guilliman as a beacon to attract scattered loyalist forces to his new empire, Imperium Secundus. The Pharos became the subject of battle when the Night Lords under Krukesh discovered the nature of the device and became determined to claim it in order to find the Nightfall and Konrad Curze. In the ensuing Battle of Sotha, Dantioch overloaded the Device to defeat the traitors and its engines fell silent for the first time. Unknown to all involved, this act served to alert the Tyranids to our Galaxy.

After the Heresy, Guilliman ordered the Pharos destroyed - removing thousands of tonnes of xenos machinery from the mountain and filling its tunnels with millions of tonnes of ferrocrete. The primarch appointed Oberdeii as Warden of the Pharos and Captain of the Aegida Company, sworn to protect Sotha from whatever secrets had been buried in the Pharos. This duty passed to the Scythes of the Emperor after the Third Founding.
>>
>>54299043
It's not as if the Astronomicon stops existing all of a sudden. Sun's shining, anyone can use it to navigate. Loyalists and Seps alike.

>Ensi Kiddu Namraru
Ensi Kiddu Namraru is one of the Stargazers. Drawn from one of the Amrar-Hatti bands of Babylon V, Namraru found a natural place in the Outriders, though his talent for divination drew him into the orbit of the Stargazers. Trained under Dingir-Gal Nabbu, one of the greatest diviners of the legion, Namraru became a capable leader as well as a ferocious fighter. At battles such as the Siege of Hamaath and the burning of Hiram II his skill in predition allowed his outrider forces to strike weak points even as they formed. Not merely a support figure, however, Namraru's charisma also made him an able commander, inspiring incredible displays of tenacity at battles such as those in the Yam Zafon belt. Namraru himself took the head of Sharru Humira and looted the Solar Barge Il-Shaddu from its orbital fanes, which would serve him well as a command ship into the dark years of the heresy.
(Heehee, see what I did there? :3 )

I'm thinking of him as the charismatic, though blunt sort. Talented in a great many things and using his divination for great effect, honest. If he goes traitor, the time of secrecy doesn't sit well with him and he spends that time cutting a red path across the stars in what is notionally pursuit of the crusade. He's just not the sort to go in for intruige and plotting. Being where one is needed is one thing and he can kind of get behind creating warp storms as a weapon, but he prefers to keep the gods at arms length. They're fickle and childish. You please the spirits, use their aid, but never become dependent upon them. Perhaps he does something that pisses off the changer of ways, who curses him with perfect foresight for failures or something. Something that makes him into a cursed seer who basically gets kept in a cage and pulled out whenever someone wants a prediction, a warrior no more.
He doesn't like Marduk's men.

>The Vorpal Chain
Said to be forged in the heart of a dying star in the Calixis Sector, the teeth of this massive warglaive are, in addition to their improbable durability, only a single molecule wide throughout. The spin of its motor is said to be imperceptible even to the superhuman ear of a space marine. These already formidable qualities are enhanced by a subtle power field emitted by its hilt, designed to complement the chain instead of acting solely as the blade.

I need to think of a character and a legion quo utilizes this but I'm glad I have it written up. Maybe a loyalist from a traitor legion.

I like these threads and participated actively in the last two. I'm reading the past thread to catch up. My idea is basically Nazi Stormtroopers. In war they primarily focus on mechanized infantry teams, but they are most infamous for their Imperial reeducation programs and their ability to completely destroy the culture of conquered worlds, transforming them into textbook examples of Terran monoculture. Their primarch is a sorcerer. Not sure if loyalist/traitor.

Rough idea:

Legion Numeral: V
Legion Designation: Fasces Imperii
Legion Colloquial: Imperial Axes
Primogenitor: Karl Krimmler
Homeworld: Schwabia, a Warworld in perpetual conflict with native Orks
Discovery: ??th
Preferred Tactics: Mechanized Infantry, Tanks, Blitzkrieg tactics. Even mixture of melee and firepower.
Theme: Einsatzgruppen, the Legion
Colours: Red, Black, and Steel

Some ideas for Kincaid's holy shenanigans

>>The Martian Inquisition
>Kincaid, in his exploration of religion and his formation of the Ecclesiarchy, goes to Mars to see if he can integrate the Mechanical Cult into the larger Imperial Cult. His investigation of Mars exposes a lot of factional conflict, and the Mars loyalists begin to exert greater pressure on the other factions, causing them to galvanize (heh). With the acceptance of The Emperor as the physical embodiment of the Omnisiah after is integration with the Divine Machine, the Golden Throne, centrists, led by a radical Magos known as Belisarius Cawl begin to drift away from the greater Mechanicus (they end up allying with the Separatists). The adepts that eventually fall to Chaos, led by Kelbor-Hal begin to shift their powerbase to Forge Lord space

As for the Vorpal Chain, if lent to Rabindrath O'Hurin, The First Champion, I would simply change it to a blade of considerable length, longer than an Exicerator for maximum SMITE AND CLEAVE. The silent blades would be perfect for this reason >>54304371 in that he can still sing over the sound of the weapon.

I imagine it would generate a mist about the blade due to it being so sharp and quick it cuts the very air around it.

Lambach Kropor, Lord of the VIII Legion, was the first to speak at the council of Nikea, as always he brimmed with confidence, certain as he was that the Emperor, his Father, shared his view on the matter and that this council was merely to put at ease the hearts of his more narrow minded amongst his brothers, those that saw the Librarium programme that Emil, Pacha and himself had established amongst the Legions. Lambach gave a casual wave rising from his seat to his friend Linares as the giant of a man entered the room. The Lord of Ale overjoyed to again be in the company of one of his closest brothers rushed over, lifting Kropor from his feet in a bear hug of an embrace.
"Little brother too long we have been separated, does this council worry you?"
Lambach chuckled as freed himself from his enthusiastic brother "Not at all Lin, Father himself has spoken with me at length on the subject, this is merely a gathering to let off some steam, nothing will change. How can it?"
"You heard of what happened to Kincaid while working with Gyhadread's Legion?"
Lambachs face grew uncharacteristically serious "I did, a terrible shame, something that I wish dearly to speak with both brothers about however this is all the more reason for us to continue our study into those that are powered by the warp. We must learn to control such powers"
"I agree with you, as always brother but I think you should consider this council more seriously than you think, for now we must take our seats, I will speak in favor of your Librarium programme be assured" with that the Lord of Ale moved to take his own seat.
>>
>>54309334
Kropor stood his ground well, looking to his Father and to each of his brothers that were present, as well as each emissary sent by those that were not, careful not to make the Legionnaires filling in for their Gene sires feel unimportant.
"Brothers, Nephews, Father. I stand before you now in defense of a programme that should need no defending. The Librarium programme was designed as a means of not only weaponising those of us that are gifted but also as a way of ensuring we have control over those gifts. Emil, Pacha and myself saw the dangers inherent with the Psykicly gifted and also the merits to making use of those gifts. More and more common is the man who is born with Psykic talents. Many see it as an abhorrent mutation to be feared, however, I can tell you that this is not so. Clearly these gifts are the next logical step in mankind's evolutionary chain. We fight foul Xenos on a day to day basis who wreak havoc with their own Psykic energies, mankind must and indeed IS evolving, as it has always done to stand up and fight these threats" Lambach paused to read the room, He noticed several that clearly did not agree with his argument but for the most part the room seemed won over.
>>
>>54309359
Lambach gestured to his own son Gaius Mendel. "Many of you know my son Gaius" the head Librarian of the Chosen of Hecate made acknowledgements as a room full of some of the most powerful people in the universe turned their attentions to him "he makes a habit of visiting each Legion that will have him and assisting with the Librarian programme, as an Alpha level Psyker Gaius is by far the most powerfully gifted man I have ever met, present company being the exception" Lambach bowed to his father and gestured to his brother Emil, earning a rare smile from the Emperor.
"My point is, Mendel is on our side, he is monitored and well trained in how to harness his powers. He is an asset not only to my Legion but to the very cause humanity fights for. Why disarm him of such talents? Fear? That's understandable. Mankind has always feared what it does not understand, what it does not know, but now is not a time for fear! We are better equipped now than ever to disable that fear, to make certain there are no more unknowns. There is no need to fear and shun something just because you do not possess it. Imagine if you will that my brother Isehko called a council of this magnitude to call a ban on the use of our eyes, simply because he cannot use his own" there was a mumer of laughter from those gathered "It would be madness and this council threatens the same thing. To remove our sight..."
With that Lambach bowed to his father once again and took his seat.

And while I'm at it

>>The Vorpal Chains
>Forged in secret by the last drop of Loyalist blood in the Forge Lord's fiery viens, a set of five auspicious chainblades of incomparable quality and ferocious potential were gifted to the finest swordsmen of the Legions Astartes. Crafted with tender affection and exacting skill that borders on the preternatural, to wield the blades of fate known as Vorpal Chains is to grasp a primal force of nature entrenched within a fortress of righteous fury. Pieced together by hand, with components unique to each blade, by an anonymous master artificer known only as The Last Terran. To the greater Imperium, his identity is known only through his works, each a piece of awe inspiring beauty and raw power. It is rumoured the Forge Lords know of the Last Terran's true identity, as well as his fate. To the wielders of the Fateful Five, The Last Terran is one of the great heroes of the Imperium, and the greatest smith of man to ever live.

>Each Vorpal Chain is unique, no one blade the same, forged to exacting specifications to their destined wielders. How the Last Terran knew how the bladesmen needed their blades is a mystery that lingers to the present day, but it almost seems that when the blade is passed down it fits the grip of the newest worthy warrior with eerie comfort, to be swung with the utmost ease. The blades themselves are monomolecular constructs of unknown design, so sharp that the very air around the spinning blades mists around the weapon, cut by the slightest motion. To swing a Vorpal Chain is to invoke the fog of war, and to push through the thickest armor as a hawk dives through the air.

(CONT)
>>
>>54309597
>The most noteworthy feature of the Vorpal Chains is the sound. The motor is nearly entirely silent, barely louder than a soft, pleased purr. But when the blade is swung the air swells with a soft sweeping sound, that ushers forth a thunderous, sonorous crack like a whip or bolt of lightning when striking its prey. The silence, and the sound, of a Vorpal Chain, is unforgettable and impossible to mistake. Snicker snack

>At the outbreak of the Brotherwar and the advent of Chaos, the wielders of these mythic blades trapped within the traitor legions escaped their treasonous brothers and formed a pact of honor, love, and duty to the Imperium, Her Emperor, and Her People. These noble slayers formed the brotherhood known to history as the Emperor's Champions. Alongside their Primarchs and the Adeptus Custodes, these legendary swordsmen would go forth and turn the tides of the greatest wars in the Heresy.

Eh, Eh?

Toram Ellamon, Forge Lord.

Tall. Proud. Imperial. Mercurial. Dangerous. Many words were used to describe Toram, and none of them accurate. Exactly as he wished it.

A full recounting of Toram and his exploits would take every scrap of parchment that ever bore the Administratum's seal. But in essence, he was spite and arrogance made flesh. When the other Legionnaires forged metal, Toram spent three months learning to sculpt wood in such a fashion as to play otherworldly music when struck with his hammer. If they trained with firearms, Toram practiced his fencing skills.

He learned the Apothecaries' arts on a bet that clumsy Marine hands couldn't stitch a Grox torn in a thousand pieces back together. He tweaked his Legion's nose by acting as the gremlin in their midst. Toram was a master orator and writer only so that he could deliver scathing barbs to any Forge Lord who displeased him. He tattooed his skin in wild markings from every culture, adorned his armor with knicknacks and gewgaws that defied description. A joker, a prankster, the funniest Marine alive until one realized they were the target of a joke whose setup began a hundred ribald comments earlier.

Every time the Legion thought they understood Toram, he changed himself top to bottom simply to amuse himself. Not even his Primarch could solve the riddle of Toram, for all his ingenuity and learning.

Still, they tolerated Toram because when push came to shove he was always ready. He treated the Forge Lords with all but naked contempt, but if Toram might stand out from the crowd by solving some implacable difficulty, it was as good as crushed under his boots. And despite his many enemies, none disputed the breadth of Toram's knowledge.

Toram died sometime during the Heresy. Or simply deserted when he grew bored of the Forge Lords. Or let himself be possessed by a daemon simply for novelty's sake.

Whatever the case, if you think you know, you are certainly wrong.

The Paladin

The most notable swordfighters of a recruitment batch are sent to the Ground Assault branch.
The best of those, is taken to test his skills.
If he succeeds, he becomes one of the aspirants for the Escogidos
If Linares take him, he will become one.
And the best of them is given the honor of wielding the Black Sorrow and become the Paladin of the Legion.

>The Black Sorrow is a gigantic claymore, blessed a hundred times and bathed in blood a thousand. Its sheer presence is enough to cause terror in the evil men, and it's said that it's able to banish daemons back to the warp with a mere touch. The sword is covered with an archane field, between material power and ethereal one. This allows it to cut thought the thickest of the armors with ease, and deal killing blows with no problem.
>>
>>54314122
The claymore is given to the chosen one, now called the Paladin of the Legion. His only duty is to fight against the most legendary of the foes, be it in the battlefield or in the void. With the Legion, detached to another one, or alone. Both his armor and the claymore shall pass to the next Paladin, so their recovery is vital for the whole Legion.

The Paladin may form his own retinue, chosing it from within the ranks of the whole Astartes army. He has granted unlimited access to the Imperium of Mankind worlds, with the only exception of holy Terra itself. He cannot enter the Imperial Palace in such a manner. He needs permission.

Of the many foes that have fallen to the Paladin, some are the Warboss Krimson Scar, known through the whole Agripinaa Sector for his pillages and ravagings, and the Daemon Sra'th'agt, one of Khorne's most favored Greater Daemons.

Testimonies
Ashur sat, quietly, and listened to his brothers speak. One by one, they all brought forth good arguments, both in favour of and against the Librarium program. Lambach’s speech made him shiver in his seat, the radiance of his psychik potential causing Ashur a migrane. Once the Primarch of the Chosen of Hecate had retaken his seat, the Lord of Bronze and Bone motioned to take the stand.
Like Kinnévail, he did not wear his power armour today. He was clad in light robes of the colour of onyx and a belt fashioned from polished copper seated around his waist, with many charms hanging from it as well as from a coppery necklace, which all tingled with each of his heavy steps. He observed the room, saw curious glances as well as condescending expressions. The savage from a backwater world dared to speak on such a fateful and sophisticated topic. Ashur chuckled lightly at the irony, that the savage could probably speak the best about this matter.
“On my homeworld”, he began, “there lived a man. He was an outcast. He used to be a medicine man who had learned otherworldly craft to heal, and to divine good fortune. Instead, he betrayed his kin. He broke his vows and dived deep into dark arts, and he exploited his knowledge to search and identify the evil within the hearts of men to nurture it, so that he could manipulate and abuse them. He had become a foul wytch.”
He paused and surveilled the room as he let those last words hang in the air, then continued: “Mind you, he didn’t just come by these skills. He was chosen at an early age by an experienced and wise shaman. He had been guided for long years of his life, had been educated in the dangers of his craft, had been under close watch for signs of corruption or failings of character. Nobody expected him to fail the test – And yet, he did.”

[Cont.]
>>
>>54317001
“He failed, and many others paid the price. He murdered his teacher and his chieftain, and enslaved his tribe through fear and sorcery. He tyrannised his neighbours until they retaliated in brutal hatred. He escaped to the steppes, but his tribe had been annihilated. He roamed alone, offered his despicable craft to anybody, and sometimes threatened people with curses for food and shelter. Sometimes, he called down plagues over the great cities.”
“One day, he came to my tribe, when I still lived in the plains. I could tell from far away that a darkness radiated from him, that his soul was befouled in ways I cannot fathom to this day. I remember him approaching, speaking in a voice that made my ears ache and my heart skip a beat”, he turned towards Lambach for a second, a worried expression on his face, “and children crying. He threatened us, that if we didn’t let him stay for the night he would kill our firstborn on the spot. He declined – And he held true to his word.”
“He called out to the darkest corners of the Otherworld and struck down three of my tribesmen where they stood, their bodies crumbling to ash. He spoke more cursed words and a pulsating darkness began to thrash my camp. I remember being… Unsettled, and I remember how my entire body stirred in defiance of his evil. I deeply regret every second I did not react then, but the horror I had beheld had overwhelmed me so that every feeling had seeped from my body. I struggled to regain my senses, and when I did...” Ashur paused, his eyes surveilling the room and, whether intentional or not, stopped again at Lambach. “...I killed him.”

[Cont.]
>>
>>54317019
The Lord of Bronze and Bone let the words hang in the air, his eyes cast to the floor, choosing his next words. “I understand the reasoning of my brothers who speak in favour of this program, and I do see the potential value. Yet, the age-old traditions of my homeworld could not prevent this one man to abuse his skills. In fact, he was not a single instance: The history of Babylon V is riddled with good men falling victim to corruption. And now, barely a few decades of research are supposed to establish a program that presumably should be able to prevent another individual to be a torture upon his neighbours?” He shook his head in disbelief, then continued: ”I caution my own Stargazers daily to be diligent in their task to find those among their ranks unsuitable for the burden of just divining through their traditional means, to not ever go beyond the boundaries. This program demands we not only go beyond, no, we should tear the boundaries down and trample the ruins!”
He motioned to retake his seat, but then paused in his step and turn towards his psychikally inclined brothers. “I have no doubt you have best intentions. I have no doubt that you believe in your willpower. I very much doubt your sons to match up to you, and I very much doubt you are aware of the consequences should one of yours fall.” With that last sentence, Ashur calmly left the middle accompanied by the tingling of his charms, and retook his seat. Visible for all was his worried, almost mournful, expression. He did not like to speak about this memory, for it made him appear weak in the face of his stalwart brothers, and he knew it made him appear hostile toward his ‘gifted’ brothers although he wanted nothing more than to embrace them. Yet it was his hope to show that, if a Primarch could be so utterly shaken by a mere man falling to corruption, then it was truly a terrible enough thing to not risk an Astartes to do the same.

Lesser daemons of Hashut are called Acrid Terrors and greater daemons are called Barons of Avarice (I just made these up). What do they look like?
>>
>>54325988
I imagine Acrid Terros as pseudo-mechanical creatures, powered by an unnatural fire. They're likely a conglormerate of different plate, rather than being made of a more homogenous set of armour. I like the idea they devour and canabilize shit very jealously, using their enemies armour to repair their own.
They're incarnations of greed and avarice, they're aggressive not because they are angery like Khorne, but because they can see what things you have (even things like positive traits) and covet them, willingly killing you for those things
>>
>>54326689
I also like the idea they wear lockboxes or chests on their armour, and they basically collect the things they desire from their victims.
>>
>>54325988
Acrid Terrors look like men who have been badly burned. Were it not for the haze of smoke surrounding them, it would be easy to discern the taint of the daemonic upon them, but their features are shrouded until it's too late. They sometimes prey on the sympathies of others by pretending to be victims of some horrible industrial accident to lure their targets closer.

Barons of Avarice have no true shape, for greed has no limits. They are boiling masses of metal flowing and moving from place to place like a white-hot tide. They are not like Obliterators, they wield no weapons and use no ammunition, for wielding something means not consuming it, and spending ammo means not possessing it. Instead they simply crush, burn and leak through any and all armor, dissolving whatever they touch and making it part of themselves. A truly powerful Baron might be the size of a Knight or larger, and can engulf even such mighty Imperial foes accordingly, rendering them down and adding to its own eternally growing mass.
>>
>>54326689
>they can see what things you have (even things like positive traits) and covet them
Naturally the thing they covet the most is the soul. This leads them to be very efficient at collecting them.

>>54300548
Oh, just that Gyahdred and co. are as horrified as anyone when the disaster occurs, but owing to the legion style, they go and take samples of everything. Kincaid doubtlessly thinks that they're taking them for study, and he's right, but the stasis caskets and the like are for understanding what went wrong. Gyahdred shuts down his Librarius and sends them all to do research on control and safety and consults the experts for decades before starting up limited trials again shortly before Nikea.
Perhaps a more normal legion would have respectfully burned the bodies and called it a day, but that's not in the XVth legion psyche and they treat this the way Aeronautic Saftey Administrations the world over treat plane crashes. Recover the black box, recover the parts, catalogue everything. It looks ghoulish as hell, and the Dusk Phantoms do indeed have dozens of research facilities out there, but contrary to rumor, they're studying control of basic powers, not ways of recreating the massive explosion at a lower cost.
They're not great at it beyond the basics, so really focus on looking at other traditions.

>>54333539
Right. If we looks at the timeline, the first thing we should do is figure out what we do with the OU events that are on there. Which do we keep in some way, which do we throw out? We could also add more legion specific events.

I think we should decide on the exact moment and way the Chaos forces reveal themselves and throw out the Ruinstorm though.

No worries there, assuming Sarco goes with my ideas for his daemons, the Avarice dude is vastly different from Shaggoths.

>>54333284
We can always fill in more Great Crusade events if and when we need them, I think. A large part of what brought the Hektor guys down was an inability to get beyond the Heresy though. I think it's critical to at least decide what the 100 years or so post-Heresy look like.

And when you know where you end up, it's a lot easier to then describe how you get there since you're not wandering aimlessly as a writer.
>>
>>54334295
I agree with you on that we shouldn't let ourselves get tied down to the Heresy. I wanna get beyond it, so that we won't be discussing the same thing for months.

On the other hand, there are still a couple of events (The Chaos Declaration, Martian Civil War, Hashut's Apotheosis) that need to be figured out before we can comfortably move on.
>>
>>54326780
My only gripe is that the Barons don't seem overly characterful. All of the other greater daemons show traits that one can associate with their patron god. The issue with Hashut is if you do this, then it might be hard to differentiate between the Hashut greater daemon and a Bloodthirster.

In WHFB, a lot of the chaos dwarfs use bulls and bull centaurs as an army. Perhaps we can draw from this when making greater daemons of Hashut.
>>
>>54334899
Well, we might could leave the Martian Civil War mostly alone, since it does happen somewhat in the shadows.

I think Sarco figured out how he wanted Hashut to work, blending Mot with Hashut to form an entity more powerful than a Greater Daemon, but much less than a full Chaos God. That probably just needs to be a story he writes himself since it doesn't depend on other people (I think).

Chaos Declaration definitely needs those relevant anons to start chiming in big-time though. Nothing's going to get done if no one will write.

>>54336383
>gigantic blob of burning metal that eats everything in sight with insatiable hunger
>giant horned, winged, blood-red goat-man-daemon that hates literally everything on a personal basis

It's your Daemon you're fluffing, but I don't think anyone's going to confuse the two, lol.

Hell, a Bloodthirster looks a lot more bull-like than a leaking steel mill does. Horns and all, you know?

And again, Hashut is nowhere near so potent and so "emotionally defined" as the Big Four. His daemons almost certainly won't have such concrete appearances and traits as theirs do, being less "fundamental".

I think sarco meant "If we make the barons have an appearance similar to Hashut, people might mistake them for Bloodthirsters" not "shoggoth Barons could be mistaken for bloodthirsters"

>>54336383
If you want something different then perhaps something more bestial to embody that lack of emotional definition? Something like Vordt (pic related) from DS3 but perhaps more ape-like? with big bull horns and golden jewel encrusted armour. That said, I think Deamonic Shoggoths is a cool idea. If they aren't the Barons then perhaps they can be something akin to a beast of Nurgle.
>>
>>54336440
>Martian Civil War
We shouldn't change it around too much, but it's still a major event that needs to be added to our timeline. Not to mention that there will surely be some differences, now the Mechanicum might be splitting three ways as well...

>Hashut's Ascension
I don't think it's actually gonna go down that way. That really doesn't make much sense to me. Plus, it's proper Mot to a status where he'd pretty much be unstoppable. I'd rather just have Hashut and Mot be two separate entities, Lesser Chaos God and Daemon Primarch.

>Chaos Declaration
Which is why we should bring it up and push it to the center of attention; so people can chime in.

>>54336647
If anything, I do think Hashut's Greater Daemons should have that bull motif.
>>
There was a prompt about what your Primarch would fall in love with. This is copy pasted from the Discord

A fucking Blank

To give some context, on his homeworld after he passively conquers the world, with most nations deferring to his judgement before their own leadership, Kincaid hears tales of a new Warlord that is decimating the North, the very first place he ever tamed.

Once he gets there he finds the Yvarine tribes in a desperate defensive, a new conglomerate of tribes burning their lands. Kincaid and his band of warriors take to the far north to confront this evil. Tied up with the warlords host, Kincaid ascends the warlords mountain fortress alone. Fighting his way up to the top he find the Warlord Alone. It's a woman of a dark and terrible aura, and with beauty just as striking. Kincaid had never seen a woman so beautiful, and the Warlord had never seen a man so handsome. Beyond that, Kincaid was valourous and noble, and the Warlord was a woman who was able to forge a new empire alone. So instead of tearing into each other, they talk it out, each one intrigued by the other.

No one knows what happened in the four days and four nights that followed, but by the time Kinnévail's comrades breached into the Warlords sanctum, she and Kincaid where drinking and feasting merrily, having forgotten about the conflict bellow. The warlord ordered her warriors to lay down their arms, and she joined Kincaid's retinue, eager to see the rest of the world

It was an impossible romance, the dour, untouchable, implacable tyrant and the merry, boisterous, learn'd bard.

But they made it work, bringing out the best (and sometimes worst) in each other. Once the Emperor came, she was inducted into the Sisters of Silence
>>
>>54336860

Kincaid spent no small effort to keep their romance alive in secret, and by the time she achieved a commanding rank, she appointed herself as part of the Chamber Valdor Command, few knew the real reasoning, most assuming that it was honoring the Emperor's own retinue of Sisters. It was her death in the conflagration of the Librarium that sent Kinnévail spiraling.

>Hashut's Ascension
I like some sort of link between Hashut and Mot, but maybe one that's more limited than possession, but something more than mere princehood?
Maybe he IS possessed, but he can only exist in realspace in the deepest parts of the Maelstrom. I could see a band of Forge Lords attempting (and most likely failing) to summon him into the Eye of Terror so he can enact his vast plans of industry and assist the various black crusades more.

>>
>>54338233
That still makes him incredibly powerful. And not just that, but it places him at a level of power that we cannot compare to anything in the OU. It's too much I think. What's wrong with just having him become a Daemon Primarch for a Lesser Chaos God? He'd be Hashut's foremost champion, just not the same being.

>>54338838
>>54339094
I'm gonna go with Kincaid on this one. I don't think there's anything wrong with a Blank from his backstory that becomes a Sister of Silence. I would insist on implying that the relationship is romantic, but not necessarily sexual. A Primarch still wouldn't care for such a thing.
>>
Well, I may develop a relationship between Linares and someone else. Aside from swords and beer barrels, I mean.

Meanwhile, some Silver Blades Tech-Heresies:

>The Shooty Rhino
This is their main mod, used nearly in all their Rhinos. Often, it's a pair of modified rotor cannons or anything else, like Heavy Bolters and even Plasma Cannons, fitted in Predator's sponsons, and then put in the side doors of the Rhino. This deletes the side access points, but still allows the full carrying capacity to be maintained, as their ammunition is stored outside the vehicle, and the gunners are either the passengers themselves or the crew of the vehicle, through remote stations. Having the ammo outside increases the vehicle survivability, as a direct hit on it makes them explode outside the vehicle. That also increases the chance of an F-kill, but the Rhino itself would remain usable. Another way to add firepower is to place a Tarantula Weapons Platform on top of the tank. As it's automated, there's no need for gunners.
>>
>>54339617
Only problem with this type of Rhino is the added lateral dimensions, that make difficult to fit one in specific cargo bays, thus limiting its strategical mobility. Good thing they are removable. Sometimes.

>The IFV Rhino
This is what in the 41st Millenium would have been called Razorback. Not much to explain here. They see little use, most of the crews choosing the Shooty mod.

>The Ork's Shame
This mod have been found on many Dreadnoughts and Support Centurions of the Legion, consisting mainly on twin and even triple linked rotor cannons with ammunition stores enough for at least 10 minutes of gunfight. Its name comes from the ork expression "Dakka", and one of the first deployments of this mod was during the fights against the Kadirian Orks, when one of them shouted "Dat iz close to enuff dakka lads! Gotta get 'un!" Of course, the ork got sawn with bullets.

>The MedEvac Transport
This comes in several flavors, either Rhino, Land Raider, Mastodont... But all of these share the same characteristics: They have stretchers fitted in the walls and floor, alongside advanced medical equipment, first-aid kits and life support systems. They are usually painted in the Apothecarion's colors, and they carry no weapons, usually. Their crew includes between 2 and 10 Apothecaries, and their use has increased greatly the effectiveness and range of the Legion's Apothecarii.

>The Rollin' Barril
At least one of those exists in the Legion. A Rhino fitted with a shamelessly stolen promethium tank from a Hellhound. The tank has been cleaned perfectly, and then filled with the holy liquid: beer. The tank was used to provide a quick drink to the front-line fighters between enemy waves during the Gratg Campaign, where the xenos enemy fought an attrition war on their own turf, trying to exhaust the Legion's soldiers and supplies. With this one in the front-lines, the Blades fought for days without stopping, and now, its sheer presence inspires the troops.

THEM FUCKING QUADS
>>
The First and Only

It was during a parade at Kadir's Capital City. The whole 3rd Tercio was marching through the main avenue, most of the Legionnaires singing Kadirian traditional songs and some war marches learnt during their campaigns. They were commemorating their return from a long and exhausting campaign alongside the Emperor of Mankind himself. Linares marched at the front. The parade cloak flying behind him, and numerous medals and seals hanging from his armor. He didn't liked to have them fitted on it, but a parade was still a parade. The populace shouted and cheered the Astartes, while throwing flowers at them.

Between the crowd, Linares saw an slender and petite figure. It was a woman, maybe the same physical age as him, with long and wavy hair, small, but greyish blue eyes. Those eyes, tho. And her smile...completely natural and spontaneous. They made eye-contact, and got engraved in each other's minds for the rest of their lives.

The little woman went to the Alcázar the next day, and was received by the Primarch. Both chatted for hours, and shared food and drink. As the night came, she left and returned the next day.

Those meetings were held for a month. Then, the opening stages of the Brotherwar happened. The woman was recruited as a Legion's servant, pretty close to Linared himself. But Malcador was assassinated, and the shit hitted the fan. The conflict escalated, and soon, Linares was fighting again, this time for the Imperium's survival.

He had no time to go back to Kadir, and she was held inside the Alcázar. As Linares went into the Warp, she lost all hope. And Linares, when he found out how much time had passed, he wished that Kane would have fired just a single shot more.

Lambach and Linares are his two closest brothers. Raj and Ashur get along well enough too. Kinnévail wouldn't be anywhere near his favorite, but Raj would not turn down a chance to hang out with his brothers.

Raj isn't one to drink or feast. He prefers a good and conversation, as well as stories and song. I'm sure he'd find plenty of that in Kinnévail! Plus, it's best for them to be atleast on friendly terms by the time the Brotherwar comes around.

Which Legions should take place in the Molech scheme? I was thinking the Silver Blades would be a first draft pick to go, and at the time the Chosen are still regathering their strength with them. OU Emps took 5 Legions so 3 more volunteers from the Primarchs that have been found by this point?
>>
>>54342518

>>54342518
Raj doesn't meet Lambach until after he has finished campaigning alongside Linares, so he's out.

Frederick? Einchurt? Piter?

I've decided to give this thing another go. Raj, Lambach, Linares, and Ashur being hosted by Kincaid after a battle. Its meant to show Kincaids various social facets before he gets fried.

I don't know an occasion where the five would be in the same place, but don't think about it too hard
>>
>>54342537
In the OU this the planet that Emps got super buffed on. Then when he had the crusade started he came back with a few Legions, secured the planet, made a powerful seal over a portal to some other dimension. Then he mindwiped the Legions and Primarchs that assisted in this so that none would remember what had happened.

>>
>>54342952

>>
>>54342952
We have been pretty good at sticking with canon Heresy stuff. Molech doesn't matter much this time around anyway; the only reason it mattered during the Horus Heresy was because Horus remembers it. Marduk wasn't even discovered yet, so he cannot know about Molech.

The book itself, Vengeful Spirit, is pretty good actually. I don't mind Molech all that much.
>>
>>54342781
They could be I suppose, I'm not certain, at least Elements of them. In the OU I think it is just the Ravenguard that do it I'm not 100% certain though.

>>54342952
OU Emps traveled to Molech with a 1 way ship a long time before he built the Primarchs, he gained true power from travelling through the warp rift there and doing some shit that is never described.
Later he goes and seals the Gate with Horus, Fulgrim, Khan, Dorn and Mortarion. Then he erases their memories of the exact specifics of the battle. Horus later figures out something is up and goes there himself, finds the gate and does the same thing that Emps did which is what gives him the power needed to actually fight the Emperor.

>>54344071

I owe you a character

>>Gefreiter Kurtz Vallutzstrom
>The young, handsome recruit known as Gefreiter Shturmlkaw was one of hundreds of the Company assigned to free the Forge World of Ganar VII. The Forge World had been overrun by the greenskin xenos menace, the dreaded Orks. The Legion had planned to use biological weaponry on the Xenos scum, but Kommando partisans had emplaced charged explosives upon the warship launch bays, forcing an infantry offensive. The Death's Heads marines were launched into the planet, the first drop pod offensive that the Company had conducted in years. The campaign was a disaster. The Orks were armed with the finest looted armor and weaponry, the marines unaccustomed to such an aggressive enemy. The company faced extreme losses while the injuries inflicted on the enemy were minimal, and only encouraged the Orks to greater acts of violence.

>Onto this corpse-grinding battlefield was thrust the fresh marine Kurtz Vallutzstrom. After a grievous and bloody campaign, the Company sent its best squads to reclaim a Mechanicus vault, filled with enough ordinance to keep the Orks stocked for decades. The marines were able to claim the ordinance cache, but nearly the entirety of the recon force was wiped out by waves upon waves of Ork assault and ambush. Before long, Kurtz was the lone survivor of the Ork onslaught

>Taking cover within a bell tower with nothing more than a standard bolter, the magazines of his fallen comrades, and an army's worth of grenades. Kurtz survived for a month in that bell tower, rigging the grenades to be fired from the barrel of his bolter, striking at groups of enemies and enemy armor from miles away with eerie accuracy. Kurtz became a proficient a fear sniper, calling his shots for the Orks to hear before executing his enemies. Before long the lone gunman in the tower was able to teach his enemies the foreign concept of fear.

(Cont)
>>
>>54345492

>By the time the company the arrived to reclaim their stranded brother, the Orks had wasted half their horde trying to claim that tower from Kurtz. Singlehandedly the young marine was able to wither the enemy force, as well as reclaim precious ordinance. In the Doomsinger propaganda film "Triumph of the Crusade" Vallutzstrom features prominently, his brave tower defense a acclaimed and famous tale in the Crusade era Imperium, a certain scene where his spent brass forms an Imperial Aquilla being especially memorable.

>Kurtz himself cares little for his newfound celebrity, but the legion rewarded him greatly for his efficiency and heroism, awarding him the rank of Oberfeldwebel. Kurtz has since lead some of the most heroic and deadly offensives in Death's Head history, a deadly sniper as well as master of ordinance placement, presiding over artillery strikes as well as sweeping tank offensives.
>>
>>54342518
I'm fine with it
>>
>>54345593

>Kurtz has since become a shell of his former self, a robotic slayer of the enemies of mankind, a surgeon of a sniper and murderous automata when it comes to Bolter mounted personal ordinance

The Emperor was already an Alpha level psyker by the time he got to Molech, the warp rift just made his as powerful as he is now. It's really not that bad, it's just something that's new, so your reaction to it is going to be more negative.

We should not just decide which bits of lore we keep and which ones we toss. We have no reason to rewrite the origins of the Emperor's power, just because we think we can do 'better'. Even then, it doesn't even matter this time around.
>>
>>54347435
Yeah none of our Primarchs have to return to Molech.
I think we could literally just use it as a way of having a bunch of legions fight together. With no real after effect on our story.
>>
>>54336440
>>54336797
>Martian Civil War
I think we do need to touch on it, given that there's a three way split going down.
I think Kincaid had a neat idea in >>54304372
Basically, Kincaid goes to Mars to try to bring them into his cult. This polarizes the cult mechanicum, since it's reducing Mechanicum independence from Terra and increasing the religiosity. A young Cawl, Pluvial Maximus, Koriel Zeth go the way of Stovokor, while I can definitely see a lot of dudes saying fuck it, I just want to wreck shit and going Chaos.

Actually might be neat to have the three Martian Legios split. Legio Ignis, Mortis, and Suturvora?

>>54347572
I think it's cooler to leave the Emperor a mystery and to have a legionary clusterfuck on a world like Tallarn or Calth.
>>
>>54347926
That is to say that Kinkaid's meddling really pushes the question of what can be understood and how much ritual you need to the fore.
So you've got the AVE IMPERATOR crowd, the FOR SCIENCE crowd, and the I JUST WANNA WRECK SHIT crowd.
>>
>>54347926
We can have a clusterfuck of legions on whatever planet we want, we just shouldn't arbitrarily decide to ignore the source of the Emperor's power. It doesn't really matter what we think of it, but the Emperor got his god-like powers on Molech. There is no justifiable reason to ignore it. The only arguments against it either come down to not liking it because it's new or straw-manning it to a point where it becomes completely rediculous.

Molech happens. The Emperor went there during the Dark Age, then came back during the Crusade to check up on it, then he removed the memories of the Primarchs he brought along. That's the last time Molech comes up because nobody remembers it during the Brotherwar.
>>
Rolled 2 (1d21)

>>54348403
If that's what we do, then that works, otherwise, I see no reason to keep it. What doesn't add to the story, we need not keep. Same reason I'm perfectly comfortable making the Tyranids a minor factor or removing the Tau entirely. If they're not doing anything for the story, then why keep them? (At the same time I do see the argument for changing as little as possible for the sake of ease in working with many people.)
(But I also just think the idea is dumb. I mean really, who leaves a door into the warp open? Why not just close it when you're done with it? Though Alexios and I have talked this over in the past and I think it comes down to what we want the Emperor to be. I think it was better left open ended. Sort of like making the Nids be because of Sotha. It makes the universe smaller, which is also why Callaxis is so neat, precisely because of everything we don't know.)

And because why not, going to do another character. Or at least get the number to gen ideas to write later.
>>
>>54348403
Yeah, I gotta say I agree with this. After he mindwipes the Primarchs they just never remember it, or if they did it would be after the war and they just go nuke the Planet or something.
>>
>>54348708
Whatever our thoughts on it might be, we cannot just arbitrarily decide which points of fluff we keep and which ones we ditch. I'm not interested in doing anything with it, the Emperor is a much different character this time around anyway, much less involved.

Molech is where the Emperor got his powers. We can choose to not really go into it and not have it matter much, but we cannot just rewrite the Emperor's backstory.
>>
Why not ignoring Molech completely? Don't say anything about it, leave it implied. We don't change it, why should we talk about it, then? Pretty much like everything else in the OU that remains unchanged.

I don't see why you want to change it. Is one of those details that don't add anything to the narrative, we can easily skip it
>>
>>54349085
I agree 100%. Just leave it and don't mention it.

The only thing we can do with it is say who the Emperor went there with, but nobody's gonna remember, and their visit isn't that interesting anyway.

Kincaid raises his banner of faith high.

After not learning from Mars, after he plants a seed of civil war, Kincaid injects religion in every aspect of Imperial life. The Imperium of 30k being much closer to 40k in AU.

Why? Because Kincaid my not have a strategic mind, but he is a student of history. The reigns of leadership have been passed from greater sires to lesser sons. The Imperium won't last long as it is, so there needs to be a few levels of control to ensure that the Imperium can run itself forever without any clear leadership

Religion is the easiest way to achieve this

Original Idea by Elephantfag:

The general love for beer in the IVth Legion is seen in multiple company badges, and in some customary rituals made before and after the battle. The after battle ritual, is usually called "The Heroes Toast"

Linares meets with his most distinguished warriors, and they share a good ol' pint of ale from one of Linares' steins, taken right from his private collection. The stein is richly decorated and engraved with the shields and seals of the virtues that a true Silver Blade embodies. The ale chosen is not necessarily the same from battle to battle, as the ritual itself is to honor the warriors drinking from that particular stein.

The honored warriors gain the right to wear a badge known as the "Ermeregilda", a white metallic cross with the Legion's badge in its center, and worn with a red and white ribbon, and are highly respected among the Legion

Beneath a rusted world stalked by terrors of will and steel lie the servants of the kingdom of death.
When the Great Eagle descends upon the world, they will arise to claim what they have been denied.
The Eagle will be swept aside by their return, and the children of Eldanesh will face their old enemy once again and despair.

I think we need to detail the Battle of Terra.

Like, right now.

Which legions are there? Which primarchs are there? Does the Emperor play any part at all? What circumstances lead up to Marduk's death? How do the traitor legions feel about their failure? How do the loyalist legions feel about THEIR failure, which was letting the traitors get to Terra? What happens in the aftermath, is there some sort of scouring-like scenario? At the beginning of the Age of the Imperium, how many primarchs are still alive?

I've been working 3 extra hours a day and will be until the end of the month so I haven't had much time recently to get any real writing done, and I think I was heading up the Timeline project so that might fall behind a bit. Sorry.

I think we do need an official ruling on non-Daemon Primarchs.

Obviously Daemons can live forever, just as in canon.

Loyalists/Seps could be sidelined a la Guilliman in some fluffed fashion or other.

Problem is, the question is always "If someone as powerful as a Primarch is alive, with all the authority to un-fuck things that such a being possesses, what of the GrimDarks?"

And also "Wow, gene-seed is so much easier to come by since we still have our bio-source". That's a *huge* deal. Massively alters the dwindling resources dynamic of 40k. Need to keep that in mind.

I think our choices are:

A: Keep it like canon. No living Loyalists or Seps. EZPZ, simple, no one has grounds to undermine that decision.

B: Reduce the grimdark. Seps can live however long they want, Loyals can live however long they want. Accept whatever the horrible consequences are for our wild-ass snowflake narrative like men and admit our setting completely shits on accepted 40k themes and tropes. Live bold and free, lol.

C: Some sort of convoluted bullshit to explain why living Primarchs still can't fix or do shit, for the sake of maintaining grimdark appropriately. Theoretically the best of both worlds, but also the worst of both worlds with one foot in each. Probably a terrible plan.

The simplest choice is A. It means we don't have to jump through any hoops or risk any unjustified plotholes/decisions. It also is a lot less circlejerky, because it proves we're okay with "our guys" being dead/missing instead of protecting our snowflakes from melting.

B lets us have fun with our guys more. But it feels like there's a huge amount of pitfalls down that road. Just, so many cringeworthy things.

C..... idk. It could theoretically be done. But I think it'd be hot garbage.

A is the best and only real option, we shouldn't go too far from the OU Cannon. All the Loyal and Sep Primarchs should be at very least sidelined by something. Most of the OU ones simply walk off and are never seen or heard from again. We can probably be a bit more creative than that but should still go down that path. I think we have it figured out for most of them.

>Yavus Los
Terran-born. Proud. Utterly unrelenting in his prosecution of the Emperor's vision for the galaxy.
Yavus Los was a champion of the XX Legion's 45th expedition fleet, and by far the greatest warrior of XII Company. Among his slain foes included four Ork warbosses, an Autarch, and a myriad of lesser xenos, not least among them a terrifying multi-limbed beast with a tail that could pierce ferrocrete. Yavus thanked the Emperor for his combat prowess and the will to carry out his duty to the Imperium. When his father chose to turn his back on the Master of Mankind, Yavus turned his back on his father, leaving with what remained of the XII company after an encounter with bizarre extradimensional entities that feasted on the armors of his compatriots. Bound to Terra, it took Yavus years to sail through the warp, befuddled as it was by the tides of the ruinous powers. When Yavus finally reached his destination, nearly two decades had passed and the Battle for Terra was long over.

Official records state that Yavus was given the Emperor's Peace after a lengthy interrogation by Kincaid himself, but this date coincides with a founding of new astartes chapters during a time when gene-seed supply was dangerously low.

It checks out

So I'm posting songs that go to Legions in my legion page, at the bottom

I have a few up already, let me know what you think
>>
>>54353517
By the time of the Brotherwar, he'd likely be a Leutnant, but as you said refusing promotion. I'm thinking he's part of the XIth Grand Battallion, which goes Traitor, although he and a small element from the XIth stay loyal and kick Traitor ass.
Or some such.
>>
>>54360368
Linares just disappears to come back in M41 for the End of Times.

>>54359057
Terra would be like this:
>Firstly, as in OU
>The Traitors break the defenses and reach the Palace's wall lead by the Gunslingers
>The Titan Marchers are defending, Raj in his Titan. Kane blows the fucking titan somehow. Silver Blades and Chosen of Hecate on their way
>Reinforcements reach the zone, Linares and Lambach find out that Raj has been killed by Kane and go rampage
>They vanish the DP
>manlytears.winrar
>Lambach keeps Raj's body
>Linares starts fighting the Leviathan Host in the Palace itself
>Marduk rushes fucking B to kill the Emprah, is stopped by Pacha and Linares
>The End

This is what I know so far. Gotta add something more for the other Legions
>>
>>54358867
I remember those guys, good shit. So those 'Crons mainly fight Eldar?

>>54358942
The Discord is plenty busy. I just cannot understand why you refuse to use it.

>>54359057
>Which legions?
Most of it has been covered by >>54359135. Pretty sure Einchurt isn't there, leaving the Loyalists with Raj, Linares, Je'She and Kinnévail. Solomon and Pacha I can't say for sure. The traitors bring everyone except for Mot.

>>54359361
The Titan Marchers have most of their legion on Terra; they take heavy casualties. Raj essentially fills the role that Dorn does in the OU, he fortifies the Imperial Palace.

>>54359596
Raj dies. Lambach takes his corpse and tries to resurrect him properly for 10M.
Linares leaves shortly after the Brotherwar, heading for the Eye of Terror.
Pacha sticks around, but eventually becomes a planet.
Solomon survives the Heresy, but gets (seemingly) killed and becomes the Carmine Knight.
Kinnévail sets up the Ecclesiarchy and eventually disappears into the Warp.
Je'She and Einchurt's fate's are unknown.

Marduk dies.
Mot, Isekho, Lambach, Deshain, Elsu and Ashur become Daemon Primarchs.

Separatists I don't know anything about.

When you say Steel Souls are present, I take it you mean Loyalist Steel Souls? I never imagined the Seps and Loyalists losing a lot of marines to one another.

>>54360368
I say A. Phase out the Primarchs across the millenia, though we should allow their fates vague enough to a point where we could bring them back. The only one that straight up survives up to M41 is Piter, Perpetual and all.

>>54361073
>>54361129
Considering what they would likely do, being of Forge Lords stock, they could be given the cover of being a Titan Marchers successor? I think we discussed Titan Marchers meeting Loyalist Forge Lords once.

>>54363219
Is Pacha at the Siege of Terra? Probably best to bring a third Primarch into the fight, maybe Kinnévail? Other than that, it seems about right, yes.
>>
>>54364515
>Pacha at Terra
Thought we discussed this already. Anyway, if most of the Chaos Legions are there, with just 4 Legions the loyalists are seriously outnumbered. The GM should be there too.

>A third 'un
Marduk is more being chased than fought. His objective is to kill Father, no matter what. I imagine the scene like this: Marduk runs through the Palace, followed by his retinue, Linares and Pacha or whoever and some Legionnaires. From time to time, the Retinue stops and tries to stop the Loyalists, while Marduk still runs. Eventually, the Primarchs would reach him, at the very feet of the Emperor, and they brawl. Maybe Pacha crushes his head with a hammer or something. The core is, this is not a fight, this is a chase
>>
>>54364695
It should still come down to a sweet fight though. Marduk might be getting chased for most of it, but he wouldn't just let himself be attacked without putting up a fight. Marduk might not be a Daemon Primarch, but he still has blessings from the four main Chaos Gods (maybe Hashut too?).

There should be a final boss fight, basically.
>>
>>54360421
Much yes! Like Lorgar's pilgrimage, except AWESOME.

In the mean time I'm thinking about a Moutain Warlock who comes to teach after the Conflagration and about the Conflagration itself.
We can move it shortly after the 3rd Xenocide, if we need to, make up a horrific species that we can have all the facts on. Do something about the phases of the campaign and then stick the Conflagration at the peak.
The Xenos species is definitely psychic in nature, and perhaps the tactics employed leading up to the conflagration were successful during the Xenocide. Anyways, the Sisters would be used as per standard XVth legion deployment strategies, but given how secretive they both are, Kincaid might not know this, and if Kincaid's buddy gets killed in the campaign, he may well blame Gyahdred. Gyahdred wouldn't understand because he doesn't get how Kincaid feels much less believe that Primarchs could feel that way.
>>
>>54364788
Sorry, lemme clarify.

The Conflagration of the Librarius was set to occur during the end of the 3rd Rangdan Xenocide. To give Kincaid a bit more time, and because this is a more important event for multiple groups, I think it might be better to move it after that mysterious period.

When fighting against xenos with lots of witchcraft, the XVth is accustomed to fight alongside the Sisters of Silence. I really need to do up that campaign in full detail to give people a model... perhaps on an upcoming plane flight. Anyways, the legion mixes them in with line legionaries to provide shielding against attack, like how the Space Wolves do on Prospero (and probably before that on classified campaigns)
So something goes wrong during that campaign and like 90% of the librarius spontaneously combusts, with Kincaid caught in the middle. (It may be that Kincaid threw off their groove...)

There's also a simultaenous Elver outbreak that Gyahdred keeps under wraps.
In the wake of this, Gyahdred sends out feelers to all the psyker legions and gets various types of help from each. At the moment I am thinking about a Mountain Warlock who's sent to help out and what happens there, but I need to run.
>>
Ok, so, I feel like writing up a character. Who should I go for?

>Onkar Sull, Nuqasaan Captain of the One Hundred Sixty Sixth Company of the Titan Marchers Legion
I would be able to use this story to truly bring the Nuqasaan to the forefront. Gotta admit I do not have much of an idea what to actually do with him, but I'll figure something out.

>Artus Ganon, Chapter Master of the Eleventh Chapter of the Emperor's Dragoons Legion
This guy would be one of the Dragoons that's fully convinced of the Astartes' superiority over the common man. He might be one of the guys that pushes Frederick over the pro-Separatist edge.

>Bhagat Jaggi, Captain of the Three Hundred Seventeenth Company of the Titan Marchers
Bhagat is a captain of the seventh company of the thirty-first chapter. They were attached to a Soaring Host fleets alongside their partner Titan Legio, the Legio Hyacinthum. Due to their relationship with the Host, the corruption of Chaos corrupted them as well. They're sent along with Mot to fight the Easter Crusade during the Brotherwar. Bhagat eventually kills his Chapter Master and takes over the Chapter/Warband.

>Knoton Mockta, Captain of the One Hundred and First Company of the Soaring Host Legion
Knoton is the greatest sniper in the Soaring Host Legion. Equipped with a Stalker Bolter and Camo Cloak, he observes the battlefield like a hawk. Not sure yet whether or not he should stay with his legion, or run to the Loyalists. He will be part of the fleet Bhagat Jaggi is attached to as well.

Maybe you guys have another suggestion? Feel free to give them to me.
>>
>>54365800
Maybe Artus Ganon. Juat because we have literally 0 to go on as far as the Dragoons are concerned and they need more character to them.
On the other hand fixing up that legion isn't really your job.
>>
>>54365800
>Doomsingers

;_;
>>
>>54366207
I gotta admit that I don't really have any ideas for a Doomsingers character. Right now I'd like to add characters to either my own legion, or to a legion that's lacking characters.
>>
>>54366346
Gotcha. Maybe you'll get more ideas as I fluff out the legion a little more.

I like the sniper. I'm really trying to support Loyalist traitors so I can build up my "Emperor's Champions"

The five heads of the brotherhood are the wielders of the Vorpal Chains, but I can see more marines bulking them out into some proto-Inquisition before handing the reigns to mortals

>"Who better to watch the watchmen than the watched, for as one gazes into the Abyss so does the Abyss gaze unto you. So shall it be in the safeguarding of humanity."

With Psykers building up the Grey Knights with Malcador's black box
>>
>>54366399
Right. So Kincaid essentially takes up the role of founding the Knights-Errant/Grey Knights then.

Knoton it is then. Let's see if I can get into contact with Elsu.
>>
PROMPT:
What are your legion's (and later chapter's) rites and ceremonies before and after battle? What do they do in their free time?

Forge Lords spend their time drilling and perfecting whatever craft they deem themselves worthy to partake in, from weaponsmithy to the forging of armors, to programming servitors and other, more nefarious machines.
>>
>>54367271
The Titan Marchers ready themselves for war by putting on their turbans. The turbans are a large part of Manaanan culture, and the legion took it into itself. The legion forges badges that represent specific campaigns. These badges are worn on the turbans, which leads to veterans wearing larger and more decorated headwear.

The also Marchers spend time maintaining their arms and armor, or crafting new masterpieces.

Chapters develop their own cultures, often spending a lot of time with the Titanicus allies. Any practices they have, the chapter will likely pick up as well.
>>
>>54366427
I wouldn't say Kincaid is involved with that directly, although a Doomsingers is a Chainbearer. We'll see who all falls into the Emperor's Champions and the most responsible one will have that honor
>>
>>54367271
>Before battle
The Blades usually have a nice meal before entering battle, if they plan to do so. Usually, it involves a squad-level toast in the honor of the squad itself, for some of them may not see the next dawn. They ready their wargear and themselves for the incoming battle in a ceremonial fashion, and get ready to fight.

>After
See >>54356970

>Free time
The Blades have a fixed day per week of free time (usually Sunday or Saturday) and a possible second, depending on who must keep watch those days, along an hour or less of free time everyday. They usually gather in the Company's cantina to have a drink and chat with their comrades until it closes. They may play cards and some other games, or troll the cantina's bartender, or just go outside and walk. For the Blades, free time is free time, and as they do pretty much everything else (training, lessons, maintenance) during their on-duty time, they can relax. At least in the Alcázar. Campaigning is a very different scenario.
>>
>>54367271
Prior to a battle do the Loxodontii apply warpaint to their faces and add symbols of warding and good fortune on their armour. The Stargazers add symbols of psychik warding and divinations on their faces. Their vehicles receive a particular blessing combined by Stargazers and Techmarines.

After a victorious battle do the Loxodontii retreat and do a ceremonial transition into non-battle mode. The various warrior lodges practice a ritual cannibalism inspired by the legion's homeworld, though they do so in secrecy.
>>
As posted in the Discord, it is also posted here in the thread:
The section "The Scholar and the Savage" is a short story of how Ashur of Banipal and Lambach Kropor met for the first time, and how their relationship has been shaped by a simple display of psychik warfare.

Before battle, the Dusk Phantoms will assemble to perform their dances, honoring the machine spirits and the like. Looks something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOTzvtLvSrE
But 90% more atonal and the outfits contain actual bones.
There's also a lot of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BI851yJUQQw to it, too. The haka goes on during battle as well.

In their spare time, there's a lot of making stuff and meditation and enlightenment poetry about making stuff and meditation. And chanting. They tend to copy sutras or make mandalas of the designs, and then meditate on them, disseminating technology as they go. They're rather typical in that they're warrior-monks. Except they're Tibetan Mechanicum monks.
And instead of going around getting donations, they're 8ft tall post humans handing out datasutras... I had something for that... dang. Oh well. But I think they even wear the saffron robes when off duty.
Also, I think the tattoos are a thing. When they're mostly machine, then they inscribe their stuff with mantras.

>>54367271
Prior to battle, Death's Heads spend most of their time maintaining their gear, drilling, and reviewing mission parameters and tacticae applicable to their upcoming situation. Their is also a decent bit of drinking, and even the occasional lho stick smoked.
Post-battle, when there is time to rest, is mostly spent drinking, smoking, sharing stories, and silence to remember the fallen.
During their free time, the Death's Heads are mainly found practicing and drilling, with tales of their endeavours passed around over steins of heavy alcohol. Outside of this, many Legionairres maintain journals in which they detail the history of their own experiences. These are considered invaluable, as when a soldier of the Vith dies, his journal is kept and catalouged to be used by the historian-serfs of the Legion, in order for their documentation of the VIth's campaigns to be as accurate as possible.

How much does the Librarius do before it goes boom? Is it particularly instrumental in any victories?

>>54360368
As I've said before, A works best for the Loyalists, but the Seps kinda need a primarch around to stop the Union flying apart. Gyahdred is perfect for this cause he be both a computer and a good counterpart for the Emperor (makes a "deal with the devil" to aid humanity and becomes something "more" than human. Also don't do much moving), though he has a more active role in his faction than the Emperor do, at first glance at least. Piter wouldn't exactly be supreme leader material seeing as he's kinda crazy by M41.

Alright, Everyone got a song except the Smoke Stalkers because I'll be buggered if I can find Amazonian music that isn't just pan pipes for six hours.

That might get worked into the fluff, actually,

Anyway's here you go, https://docs.google.com/document/d/1CwmnE6oegP8dZ3NgiGeof5uT0DBzVoigniNiC3wrG38/edit#

The Anthems are at the bottom. If you don't like yours or think something will fit better, let me know and I'll update it
>>
>>54369549
I don't like mine at all, but it fits your Legion style, so do what you consider the best.

Two songs about drinking and such, meanwhile

I actually don't like yours either, meant to change it to a crusader hymn

As you want. A song that I lile is March of the Cambreadth. Could it fit?

Dunno, rly. I just like the song
>>
I'm brainstorming for those rustcrons, which I've named the Atropekh Dynasty.
>>
>>54372526
What do you have?

>>54372698
They're pissed that the imperials made their crownworld into a giant junkyard and I wrote this for their Phaeron

The War In Heaven was much more personal for Yj'akhyn the Morose than it was for many other necron lords. His betrothed was taken from him in an assault by the hated eldar on the night before they were to be wed. He pledged his whole being to scouring them from the stars, and this hatred stayed with him through the biotransferrence.
