/tg/ - Traditional Games

Just as the title says, we shall make a 40k sector. We can start easy by making one planet in it for now using the planet generator found on 1d4chan
>https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Planet_generator

Let's hope this gets enough attention to go somewhere fun!

First roll: Planet Class (1d100)

One thing we can discuss in between rolls is where in the galaxy this sector should be located in

Rolled 28 (1d100)

Ohh good start

Going to use this roll >>63599527 to see what it was before it became forbidden
>Agri-World

Forbidden Agri-World, now that sounds intresting

Ok time for tech level, give me 3d10
>>
>>63599556
sorry, it's suppose to be 6d10, I only looked at the agri world, not at the forbidden world

Now this begs the question, is the system itself forbidden or is it just the agri world?

Time to roll for the size of the star (1d100)

I'm monitoring this thread. If it's suitably spoopy, desolate and haunted I'm using it for a one-shot of RT.

Huge

So their star is pretty huge, now I am no expert on stars, but aren't blue stars among the larger ones, thinking the planet could orbit one of those

Now, which branches of the Imperium are present?

Reminder that the extreme axial tilt is an extremly big deal for an agriworld.
At the equator, the weather would still remain constantly warm, but with more pronounced seasonal variations: warmer spring/fall and cooler summer/winter.

The tropics would now extend to 35 degrees latitude on both sides of the equator. At the edge of the tropics, summers would still be very hot but in winter the sun would be only at 20 degrees from horizon at noon, similar to the conditions in Northern Europe. So winters would be pretty cold.

Just 20 degrees away from the edge of the tropics, at 55 degrees latitude, we would still see abundant sunshine in the summer, but in winter the Sun would be completely gone (a polar night). So expect extremely cold winters and still hot summers.

Further north, in polar regions, summers would get substantially warmer, reaching probably 20 C or so. Winters probably would be close to current Earth conditions.

As a result of these changes, agriculture would be significantly disrupted pretty much everywhere, other than equatorial regions. People would find it hard to grow crops in such extreme weather. Millions would become hungry and die.
>>
>>63600520
>>63600587
Perhaps Bengal or maybe have it covered in green houses, or maybe even the crop requires extreme conditions

>I think Percipre in Dark Heresy was like that in that it was inhospitable but covered in greenhouses so was an admech agri world
>>
>>63600536
>Swamp
>Cliffs
>Active Volcanoes

Population time! It's time to see how many souls dwell on this planet
>1d100
>>
>>63600663
Well you could save it if you fluffed it as having relatively high levels of geothermal heat (to survive the polar nights) and being very damp (to survive the polar days).
>>
Rolled 75 (1d100)

>>63600681
>>
>>63600587
Actually that sounds like the Azolla event, the North Pole used to be quite warm when Green house gas were more plentiful and it found itself isolated into a sea encircled by land, eventually it led to huge blooms of a type of aquatic fern (Azolla) which grew like crazy due to perpetual sunlight and lots of water then suffered huge die offs in the winter and which sank drawing greenhouse gases out of the atmosphere and plunging the world into an ice age
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azolla_event

Maybe both the poles are covered in plants during there respective summers so the work force migrates based on the time of year to grow the crops
>>

Religious (Local): In a Religious State, either the society was built around, or because of, a religious body, or events in its history have brought religious authority to the fore of all politics. Either way, a religious body is the area’s government and law, and everyone must follow, or at least never act in defiance of, the rulesof the religion. The religion in question can either be a local religion, or Ministorum of the Imperium or the Machine God of the Adeptus Mechanicus.

What should we do about this?
>FORBIDDEN WORLD: GM’s Discretion
>>
>>63600759
So how it would look is huge algae blooms in the poles during the summer then big die-offs in the winter as the workforce is transported to the opposite pole. Leaving quasi abandoned facilities guarded by small crews for the glacial winter.
The only permanent settlements would be near the equator where relatively stable temperatures would allow a basically full planet ring megacity.
Due to the extreme weather and geothermal activity (>>63600681) we wouldn't see any big spires except maybe for some vanity projects. Most housing and facilities would be near or underground to take advantage of the heating.
Another thing we could imagine is huge harvesting boats in the polar regions that cruise the seas during the summer before being tucked into some hangar for the winter/sailed to the southern seas.

>>63601280
Large Forbidden ][ Agriworld with extreme weather patterns and seasonal variation.

Gravity is about 1.5 times Terran, with 382 26 hour days each year. The planet is swept with vast storms, with winds tainted by aerosolized fertilizers as the surface suffers explosive Algal blooms in the summer, no doubt caused by the fertilizers.

It has no satellites to speak of
>>
>>63601742
disregard this roll
>>63601716
>07-10 Medium Size
Average, now roll 2d10 for quality.
>>
>>63601763
It is colonial, with an average of 1,312,933 miles per inhabitant. This suggests few, if not one, permanent settlements at or near the star port at the equator.
>>
Rolled 8, 3 = 11 (2d10)

>>63601764
>>
What should we name the planet/star system? And should we add more habitable planets to the star system?
>>
>>63601763
I'm sorry to be a nerd here but you misunderstood the conversation slightly. An aerosol doesn't have to be a fertilizer. An aerosol is simply a liquid that travels through the air like tiny droplets. For example when you're near the sea and you can taste the salt in the air, that's because the sea is foaming with waves and small droplets of water are taken by the wind and spread around.
Now something that also happens IRL is that when heavy algal blooms pop up, the aerosolized sea water carries said algae and more importantly their toxins, creating unpleasant winds that can cause all sorts of problems
>cf Airborne toxins (i.e., toxins that are aerosolized) have caused respiratory problems and eye and skin irritation to people along beaches where harmful algal blooms were present.
http://www.waterencyclopedia.com/A-Bi/Algal-Blooms-Harmful.html
Now this being 40k and a planet with extreme weather, we can extrapolate that the aerosolized toxins do more than give you rashes, but being seriously harmful, explaining the tainted atmosphere. Secondly with uber-strong winds due to the freaky tilt, said "death" winds could be carried far-inland, effectively tainting the entire planet.
>>
>>63601886
>10-15 Medium quality
So the police force exists and is average in more ways than one.
Now instead of a militia or standing army a ]|[ world's main armed forces are probably going to be inquisitorial troops, drafted offworld and stationed here to prevent anyone from leaving or arriving.
roll 3d10 and another 3d10.
>>
>>63601902
i don't think the Inquisition would allow a populous world to exist near a forbidden world. Though maybe some AdMech research stations, small mining moons around gas giants or stuff like that could exist I guess.

Now to roll for the qualities of the planet and orbital missiles.
>>

So the world has some defences, bu they're in bad shape, probably partially due to the fact there are basically no techpriests on the planet to maintain them.

I don't think Forbidden Worlds have guard levies for obvious reasons, so I guess this planet is basically finished.
I propose that the first person to get dubs names it.
>>
