Wingvermin, incredibly idiotic beasts that spread disease as they fly through the sky with their insect-like wings, pig bodies and tails, and rat heads and front legs. They often destroy towns with pure disease, and are a threat not only due to their disease, but due to the fact that they repopulate quicker than most can wipe out a nest.

The Clamprey. While much more agile in the water, it is capable of clambering onto land for short periods of time. It ambushes prey and latches down on them with its claws, then uses its powerful jaws and a turning motion to rend the prey open.

>>65451856
The Venomous Scalefish. It basks in shallows most of the day, conserving energy. It blends in well with sand and algae. It will suddenly attack when approached by something it would consider a meal, dragging it back into the water and letting its paralyzing venom weaken its prey. Once properly dead, it will use its claws to soften the flesh and pry it from the bones.

Alomark:
A living amphibious siege engine. It Alomark are the divinely gifted mounts of Kua-Toa chieftains that have proven their savagery to their goddess Blibdoolpoolp by slaying 100 sea elves, the children of her sworn divine rival.

The Alomark is a truly terror to behold. Over 30 feet long, it propels itself on land and in the water with 8 short flipped reptilian legs. The scaly legs seem almost grafted onto it's long sleek body, the scaly legs transitioning into smooth shark skin, though it is still a dark molt green color. The tail is long and thick like a nature alligator's but is forked at the tip. The head is a nightmarish blend of alligator and shark. With alligator jaws below, and the jaws of a great shark stacked directly above. At all times, thick pale green slime drips from both mouths, a single touch of this corrosive zone is enough melt armor.

Be sure to slay the Alomark first before killing it's rider, because once the mental link is broken, the Alomark flies into an unending rage, increasing in speed and even growing in size over time.

CR: 15
special: 2 bite attacks, +1d12 acid damage, acid damage applies to any target, even if bites miss.
Dread Rage - if an alomark loses it's Kua-Toa rider, its speed increases +30 feet, it's Dex is + 4, +1 extra bit attack per round, and over the course of 1 minute, increase it's size from large to huge, and 1 hour after that huge to colossal. Including the stat increases for the size increase.

The Sand Spinner. A bizarre chimera of a creature found in arid climates. When threatened, it will tuck into its shelled carapace and attempt to roll or spin away with surprising speed. If cornered, it will resort to a stinger that injects corrosive venom. When not hiding or spinning, it seems to have poor balance and must use wing-like appendages to maintain balance. It apparently has a seasonal migration site where they flock in great numbers.

>>65452390

The Burrowing Greathorn is an industrious animal. They can tunnel great lengths of earth in a relatively short timespan. They spend much of their lives underground, hunting large grubs and insects for food. Largely docile, they make excellent pack animals, though some would hunt them for their valuable bones, their spinning horns in particular.
>>
>>65452243
Venestia.
Biology: Medium-sized monster with a wing-span of 2 meters long, its snow-colored flesh is decorated by mossy and oak colored feathers. Around its torso lay a thick, yet surprisingly light shell. Behind it is a dark-maroon scorpion tail with a venom that increases hallucinations when injected into prey or predators.
Behavior: Highly aggressive, it lives near any body of fresh water and refuses to not allow anybody near it without a fight. Shrieking at its enemy, it tries to attack with its venom which when injected can make it appear more like a god of death than a simply beast to its enemies.
Weakness: Time. The creature grows more afraid of anything that is able to withstand its blows. Otherwise, while the shell is well-protected, a smart man would simply hack at the creatures exposed features while its trying to attack.
Misc.: The shell can be used to make decent armor or shields while the poison is extremely useful for any assassin or illusionist. The meat is a fine to eat, if properly detoxified and cooked.

The mountain breaker.

This large, intelligent beast has been known to punch with enough force to shatter mountains. It also uses its strong forelimbs to propel itself through the air and into trees. While intimidating and powerful, they are dutiful pack animals, live relatively peaceful lives, and rumor has it that they see humans the same way humans see puppies. They think humans are adorable.
>>
>>65452509
The Bellmen. Small, cat-sized, creatures that roam the loamy hills of swamps. Their orb eyes scan the horizon for any fresh kills, the sound of a small storm can be heard as a pack of them fly toward it. Any lone predator that does not flee will be injected by their venom. At first nothing will happen, but a few days later, it will begin to limp and then die. All the while, the Bellmen were watching its movements from the shadows, cackling. They watch as another predator arrives, soon it will fall for their trap and they will take back their rotten spoils to the nest and feed on it.

Lake Hydra, or the Groseion.
Often mistake for a large dark rock, the lake hydra is actually a fearsome magical beast power wizard will sometimes creature to live in the moats of their castles. This long lived creatures sometimes outlive even their own masters, and are forgotten about as they can sometimes lay motionless for years slumbering at the bottoms of the moats.

The lake hydra possesses between 1-10 heads, each one either that of a snapping turtle or a goose, these heads are mixed together at random, and slowly die of individually and are replaced by another random head. The turtle head can deliver a crushing bite, while to goose heads can produce a gaze effect that terrifies all who see it. Multiple goose heads together amplify the effect. The heads connect to a large dome shelled body, which is supported by 8 thick scorpion legs, it can't swim per-say, but has not trouble walking across the bottoms of lakes or ponds and through thick bank mud. A wicked scorpions tale appears out the rear of the shell, it's poison has the unique property of those stung by the lake hydra to forget about it. In this way, lake hydra's can sometimes turn up in very unexpected places because no one was able to remember it was there.

Owed to it's conjured nature, the lake hydra is reasonably docile, and will only attack is harassed, and even then it prefers to sting it's attacks and sink back into the lake it calls home. With one exception, lake hydra's will doggedly attack and presume anyone who attempts to take any possession of it's master, even if that master is dead, across the body of water it lives in. It immediately knows if anyone has such an item, and while slow, it will never give up the chase if the item is not returned.

CR: 10
Special: 1d10 heads, randomly chosen between turtle and goose.
Crushing bite: for each successful bite attack on the same target, add an extra +1d6 damage.
Startling gaze: dc15 to frighten, +1 for each head over 1.

The Noble Raptor. As tall as a mature oak tree, these birds walk with the elegance of a dancer and wear thick, white plumage with colored ends in red, blue, and other colors. From afar, one might mistake them for kings and queens in silk, standing on the horizon as they strut looking for prey. Should they find one, they prefer using their developed talons to kick the beast ripping its side open. If this does not work, a fire glows in their eyes as their feather fly up increasing its size two-fold they then jump and tear at the creature while trying to peck with tough beaks. When finished, they dig up fresh dirt on their meal, while it might be they need some nutrients from the soil for their diet, its more likely their own way of saying that the being they killed was as low as the dirt in their eyes.

>The Splendid Tyrant
This cunning beast spends the majority of it's time lying within muddy water with its feathers lowered to present the illusion of a large rock. When a hapless victim comes near, it uses its springlike back legs to lunge out of the water with incredible speed and snaps the target's neck; if the prey is of comparable size, it will first flare and throw around its feathers to make a disorienting whirl of colors, giving it the opportunity to hold down the target with hook-like front legs and body weight before snapping its neck.

The Quigle:

Taylor made as a magical wizards familiar. The Quigle is the envy of any wizard not in possession of one.

The Quigle is a small cat sized creature, covered it thick gray scales, which are interlaced with thin sharp spines. It has a dopy anteater like head, with a long prehensile nose that it's in a delicate 3 pincer grabber. The special quality of the Quigle is it's quills, it is able to pluck one of it's quills and take dictation from it's wizard master perfectly. On top of that, the letter it writes is imbued with a subtle but potent magic, so that only the intended recipient may read the letter. It appears as non-sense to any other reader.

Obviously, Quigles are most prized by court wizards, or wizards who have high advisory positions as they can exchange secret messages without fear of interception. The letters are extremely difficult to break with counter magic, and it mostly just erases the message if tampered with, but very power spells can still bypass it.

CR: 1/4
Special:
Covert dictation, any letter written by a Quigle can only be read by it's intended receiver.

Calypso Caravans. Should a traveler ever come upon a large group wandering the lands, they should be wary as it may be a Calypso. A large, tunneling cephalopod, they are masters of illusion and are able to extend their ten arms above the tunnels they make into the air. Using illusion magic, they disguise them as peasants who try to stay with any travelers until they set up camp for the night. They then wait below as the ten line up in a circle around the unsuspecting prey and leap from below, grabbing them with its beaked mouths. It thrashes them to and fro until they are nothing but a bloody mess that enter its maw below. Finished it leaves an empty campsite and looks for the next group to swallow.

The Slytemon is a small, canine creature that tends to be found in marshlands or other areas near lakes. They are typically grey, but can also be seen in pale blue or red hues. They have two small, beady eyes that can practically be missed when you look at their heads. Despite their canine body shape, Slytemons are rather soft and malleable. Their bodies are somewhat sticky to the touch, which while not making them sticky enough to allow them to grapple you, gives them the ability to climb up steep hills or even some short walls with relative ease. This allows the Slytemon to fit in and get through practically any crevice or indent, making their prey practically unable to hope for an escape. Slyemons are pack creatures, living in large groups to hunt down big game. They are known for their ability to take practically any beating and have tenacity to boot - once it has its eyes on its prey it will only stop once it's eaten or once it's dead.

River Foxes
Roughly smaller than a dog, this brightly colored amphibian creature can be found in boreal rivers. Their body resembles a skinny dog with a head like a worm, and they are covered in vibrant colored tendrils resembling scales or fur that emit a poison not toxic enough to be deadly but immediately painful to any would be predators. They often live in large schools to protect from predators, and will migrate when winter arrives to avoid being frozen underwater, and will cross many miles on land to find a warmer lake or river which will become its breeding grounds.

Dread Kraken

Normal krakens, if they could be called normal, are malevolent terrors of the deep. Insidiously intelligent, powerful, and all too eager to ravage shipping lanes for decades or centuries. As a matter of course, krakens despise the gods, loathe to consider anything superior to itself. But sometimes, when a mortally wounded kraken manages to escape it's attackers and retreat back into the black abyss, an even more ancient evil whispers in their minds. Dagon, who created the original krakens in a time before elfs walked the land, has never forgotten his favorite lost children. When a kraken is near wounded and near death, he will reach out and offer the kraken a bargain. Restore its vitality, and transform it into a much more fearsome creature.

A dread kraken is horror manifest. It's form swollen too colossal size, each of it's long tentacles now ends in a vicious snapping beaked maw. Ships of any size are but mere play things to a dread kraken, who now sets it's sights on coastal strongholds and cities, approaching a squall of it's own magical making, it sieges these coastal hubs, wiping them from the land. During these sieges, it unleashes it's most vile ability. Out of each beaked tentacle, it is able to spawn brutish octopod like beastial creatures, a mix of man and octopus, that spread out into the city slaying all they find, bringing them back for the dread kraken to feast on. The dread kraken doesn't stop with just destruction though, it's true goal is perverse. It captures 8 victims, one for each tentacle, and brings them alive to it's alter of Dagon. There it preforms a ritual that transforms these people into devoted mutates who only live to serve dagon. The people transformed are gone, their bodies repurposed as vessels for a new dagon cult. Once transformed, the dread kraken will return them to the coastal area near the destroyed city so that they can establish a small fishing village, to further spread dagon's will.

I think there is potential here if you make an ape with that T-shaped head of the hammerhead, but where a hammerhead has each eye is a spike/blade. With its powerful ape muscles, it can swing its head to attack with the spikes/blades. It should probably have its eyes somewhere near the weapon base or high on top for visibility to be able to attack with such a feature. Or just more eyes.
Should this be standard chimp size? Should it have different proportions to make this head attack work?
The front of the hammerhead, should it be a slicing blade? Would that require curving the T? If so, range on the side spikes is lost, and they could hit the creature's own body.

Sky Crawlers. Up above the clouds they live standing at 1.5 times the size of normal man, they wear transparent skin and have two sets of eyes on their head. Due to a seeming lack of environmental weaknesses, they live happily in the clouds eating anything that passes by and when nothing comes, they descend to the ground in search of prey. They stalk and wait setting traps thanks to their second pair of hands and when their prey is helpless, they snatch them and devour them with their mandibles and canines. Finished, they float up back to their homes.
Despite their vicious nature, they are quite intelligent and some in exchange for food will teach wizards and others, strange magic and machine plans they have come up with while they were absorbing the energy of the world and cosmos in their home.

Levandrakes
Beasts of nobility and honour, these semi-sentient beasts live within a desert mountain range, they are relics of an ancient long dead civilization, the only keepers of its lost history.

They appear as slender crocodilians with large barrel chests with feathery mains and feathered hawk like wings, their back limbs are birdlike in their postering and very muscular in build, while their wings fold back like the wings of a bird of prey while not in flight, tucked under their wings lie long, skinny arms with opposable thumbs, to weak to be effective combat weapons but just good enough for the act of writing and gesturing.

They are often seen with ancient bronze armour as helmets of breastplates, though it is assumed that they are incapable of forging such armor themselves.

Only the bravest of adventurers can ever hope to seek their caves where they live, as they have the ability to roar with such volume that any near them will at best go deaf but usually die from such great noise instead.

Spoken of only in hushed tones, the striped horrors known as Gnawers blot out the skies with their numbers. These carnivores move in immense swarms, constantly seeking out meat and spaces to lay their eggs, and are a grave threat both to biodiversity and human settlements.
The black-and-orange feathers cover a muscular, four-legged body, with the only naked parts being the head and ovopositor/cloaca. Four wings rest on its back, and give it a wingspan of 1.5m when open. Two evil cat-like eyes are placed in the front of the feline-like skull, which serve to guide the creature's fearsome toothed mouthparts into its prey. The mouthparts' original purpose of chewing leaves has long since been abandoned: these flying plagues have very little in common with their ancestors, and they exist only to spread death and misery. Some say that they were conceived as weapons, and all agree in saying that they only deserve extermination.

An axotl with the size and build of an hippo. It's face it mostly axotl-like, albeit longer, with wide, expressive owl eyes, but inside it's mouth it has the tusks of the hippo.

It can turn it's head 180º to look at the water surface from the bottom of the rivers or lakes it lives in - an excelent ambush predator, if not for the floating regurgitated pellets that tip off the most inteligent prey of it's presence. It prefers to hunt in low-light conditions.

It's regeneration capabilities and it's thick hide help it sustain much punishment from the struggling prey which often includes large predators. While resting and regrowing, this pale thing can look very corpse-like.

These things live under heavy gravity rain forrests.

The mist can get almost as dense as liquid water. For this, most of the jungle's grounded inhabitants that do not crawl distribute their weight over 4 to 8 sturdy legs. As for the pistol-spider-ape, it has evolved pincers that, rather than pinch, release extreme air pressure which travels through the mist to stun prey that hardly can see through.

The prey is usually kept alive until the time of consumption. These webspinners will usually bind their prey to the ground with silk threads which makes the already grueling task of getting off the ground under the heavy gravity nearly impossible.

>The plague-sow is a particularly horrifying beast of an undead nature whose manifestation is a sign of great evil being afoot amongst those who are the very salt of the earth, the farm folk. Said to be the product of gluttony in times of hardship, but certain learned sorcerers say that acts of blasphemous folk magic are what causes these foul undead swine to erupt upon the land.
>Appearance: the Plague Sow initially manifests as a female swine who unexpectedly begins eating more and more, and demonstrating an unusual spurt of growth. The poor ignorant(or in certain cases, evil and practicing black magic) farmer may even initially take pride in their prize pig's massive size gain. However, the true nature of the thing eventually reveals itself in a rampage of flesh eating and disease. In it's fullest "ripening" stage, the massive pig thing lumbers around bigger than an Ox, it's form straining and bursting with a vile payload of vermin.
>The creature rots from the inside, yet it continues to eat, and eat, and eat, and the rot of it's vile guts are the sweetest and most corruptive nectar to vermin like flies and rodents, who are drawn from up to a mile around. These vermin also grow bloated and aggressive like their host. Soon a cloud of flies act as a screen around the vile undead beast, and the rats sally forth like the guards of a putrescent meaty castle, viciously swarming attackers and pouring forth from the sow's carcass in seemingly impossible numbers. The vermin spread plague for miles around as they sally forth , seeking to sicken and kill fresh victims for their broodmother and host, the plaguesow.

The bottom portion, with all that luxurious fur, lacks for all agression. It is directed by the top portion, where the mouth and the natural defenses of the critter are, which baits the bottom portion with light signals.

The cutie-cutter is a sad critter. It's lower brain would much rather play with the bunnies and birdies if feeds on and seems mostly unaware of the higher brain's predatorial intents. Nonetheless, the ugly toothed menace is what feeds the whole organism and the cutie could not survive without it.

The Web-Toed Chimera, long thought to be a hoax by enterprising embalmers attempting to get a quick buck out of the credulous, was recently revealed to be a real (if extremely rare) creature. It quickly gained infamy as, despite its diminutive size and clumsiness on land, its sexual appetite leads it to assault creatures much larger than itself in what appears to be a misguided attempt at copulating, especially in water. Adventurers of all races are strongly advised to stay out of bodies of water near Chimera families, as they will invariably attempt to assault intruders of both sexes unless actively kept at bay with weapons.

Furred Cottin. These small, highly gregarious and omnivorous mammals have proven to be extremely popular with children all over the kingdoms, as their highly affectionate nature and extremely broad diet makes them low-maintenance and excellent companions. However, parents beware: their short lifespans are sure to result in heartache, and they have a tendency to wreak havoc on any unattended gardens, with a single cottin being able to devour many times its weight in greenery over a few days. Furthermore, their rapid breeding and aggressive persecution of small fauna has led to concerns that they may have a disastrous long-term effect on the natural environment of any location they're introduced to.

The Black Ambuscader. This furred creature is known to hide in the shallows of swamps and ponds, lying in wait for days at a time in wait of suitable prey. While they rarely attack sapient beings, it is highly advisable for children and small races to avoid going near such bodies of water unattended in Ambuscader territory. Despite their fearsome reputation, closer study of these creatures has shown a strong familial bond, as they mate for life and care for their cubs for years. Their fur is coarse and rough and their meat greasy, making them a poor target for poachers.

The Aerolisk
This nocturnal predator hunts young sky-whales. Though small in comparison to the flying behemoths, these creatures are usually the size of a bus, covered chromatic scales that change from pitch black to various shades of blue to greyish white depending on the color of the sky. Other notable features are is it's lack of visible aerial propulsion, seemingly maintaining itself aloft in the same way it's prey does, and it's abnormally large throat, useful both for feeding and communication. They usually remain far above the surface in frigid altitudes where most flying creatures do not go, in packs of up to 30, diving to hunt at dusk. The only exception is mating season, where two Aerolisks will pick a sizeable cloud and make it their hatchery, harboring up to 5 Aerolisk eggs at once. Agile, intelligent and gifted with excellent night vision, the Aerolisk attacks when the sky-whales are sleeping, quickly enveloping a young calf to suffocate it and force it to land, where it then swallows the calf whole and burrows itself for around 2 months to digest.

Blackmites. These migratory pests are well known to monster hunters and exterminators, as their depredations have even ravaged small kingdoms. Serpentine in shape and adorned with multiple small legs and buzzing wings, they gather in swarms that quickly grow in size until they are numerous enough to blot out the sky, causing the phenomenon known as Midday Dusk. Extremely voracious, they are known to ravage crops and forests, although they have a preference for warm-blooded prey, which they fly at in droves, wrap around and slowly drain them of blood until they stop struggling. Any sightings of a nest must be reported to the Exterminator's guild immediately, as a swarm of blackmites left to grow is an enormous danger to all populated areas in the vicinity. Only expert Exterminators, dragons and wizards should engage a swarm in full rampage.

Skittering Death. Despite being no larger than a housecat, these insectile menaces are counted among the deadliest in the natural world, and have been known to depopulate jungles and plains on their own. They are among the very few creatures that actively seek out and kill prey not for sustenance, but for the apparent joy of the kill, often leaving bodies to rot after slaughtering them. Despite their small size, their chitinous hides can turn away blades, as well as being highly resistant to crushing, and their talons and stingers have been known to piercr plate. Most infamous, however, is their speed -- they have been known to outrun galloping horses in huge bounding leaps and dart around the most skilled swordsman's blade. Only fire is known to deter them, and in their death throes they have been known to slaughter all around them before finally succumbing. Extreme caution is advised when dealing with them, and preferably do not engage unless absolutely necessary.

This amphibian ape spends the first seven years of it's life underwater.

It's mother will drop mashed foodstuffs for her hatchlings from the canopy above.

It emerges during fruiting season as a winged adolescent to fatten itself, buzz and breed in time for the flooding season at which point they will retreat to the treetops and watch over their babies from above.

Armored Snagrump. Despite their fearsome appearance, these fuzzy creatures are highly social and curious. Their sturdy builds and armored shells make them ideal partners for perilous situations like battlefields or dungeon exploration, and they are fiercely loyal to their masters. Care must be taken to keep their eye stalks from getting damaged -- while they grow back over a week or two, even the most valiant snagrump is meek and fearful when blinded, often refusing to come out of their shells at all and needing to be coaxed with food and gentle words. They are omnivorous and will eat almost anything, but favor small warm-blooded animals.

Ikeas, or Woodsmiths, are furry, six-legged critters that has both a mandible and a beak. They can cut down trees using their steel-hard mandibles, and bore into them using their inner beak for both grubs and aesthetics. Usually the Ikea live in marshy or seasonally flooded woodlands, and make their dens out of the wood they harvest. For some reason, their dens look like fully-furnitured cabins - the only indication that it might be an Ikea den is that everything is made of wood, and wood derivatives. Furniture made by an Ikea is also prized because of their complexity - many craftsmen have tried to reverse-engineer an Ikea furniture, only to be unable to re-assemble it properly.

Ventdrakes are highly territorial predators that frequent volcanos, thermal springs and other noxious environments, hence the name. While they do not actively pursue most intruders, prologed stay in an area marked as their territory quickly incites aggression in them, and so it's highly recommended to avoid any uncharted volcanic areas until it can be ascertained no ventdrakes reside there. Their senses are extremely acute and have been shown to be able to navigate in total darkness, even when magically blinded -- indeed, it is speculated that they may even be able to sense magic itself. While usually lethargic, they are known to be capable of extreme bursts of speed, closing dozens of meters in an instant and striking with their heavily armed forearms with enough force to crack boulders and crush armor.

What's most notorious about ventdrakes, however, is their incredible resilience. Beig able to survive the extreme temperatures and noxious gases of their natural habitat is a given, but there are reports of them even swimming in lava with no apparent displeasure. The infamous wizard naturalist Harbiyen the Foolhardy brought the ventdrake into notoriety after successfully capturing one and using experimental translocation spells to teleport it into extreme environments such as the bottom of the ocean, the top of the Mountain That Reaches The Heavens and even the surface of Luna. The specimen survived all of these ordeals unharmed, although it soon expressed its displeasure by bludgeoning Harbiyen to death. To date, there are no known methods for killing a ventdrake and adventurers are strongly advised to leave them alone.

Sky Hook:
The sky hook is an odd creature, with a neck that can extend to half a mile long and a massive body which is always in flight this creature continues to baffle biomancers with its desecrate lack of care for the rules of biology that even dragons with their immense size and relatively small wings do not tend to break such rules.

It flies on bat like wings, it’s wingspan spanning lengths of up to 12 metres, it’s maw is toothy, and it had a single hook like horn on its lower jaw, which it uses to snatch up prey.

It is a beast of the plains, for in the mountains it may be hunted by dragons and in forests it would be to much of a risk to catch prey.

Never has one of these beasts landed, only crashed.

The Ur-Shark. A rarely spoken-of legend of the northern waters, the Ur-Shark is said to represent the very essence of sharkdom. What this entails exactly varies depending on the area, but common traits include enormous size, swimming at extreme speeds and being able to detect blood in the water and chase the victims down over hundreds of leagues. According to the legends, there must always be one (and only one) Ur-Shark, and anyone who manages to kill it shall be cursed to become the next Ur-Shark. The wisdom of the fishermen says that when the tides turn red, all God-fearing men should do well to cancel trade and travel, for the Ur-Shark prowls the seas and no earthly vessel or artifice can stay its wrath.

This creature has incredible illusion magic which it uses to draw in prey to it's twisting psychic tendrils.

But because it has a very small body and brain it mostly settles with baiting snakes, lizards and toads by impersonating small rodents.

If many of them congregate in one spot, however, they can mindmeld to create the illusion of solid ground which can cause people and draft animals to fall, get zapped and drown. Because they are fast breeders they can often overrun a small watering hole, deplete the local animal population, then starve.

While foraging for sea silk is always a difficult task, never it is more dangerous when the source of sea silk is the crack-a-smile. And ambush predator and filter feeder, it can lie immobile for weeks, jumping up to snare unsuspecting prey.

Though it has very sharp teeth, it has no means to chew or swallow large foods. It uses it's silk to tie down corpses near it's resting spot and sucks in debris and tiny decomposers from the rotting bodies.

Tundra Stalker. A ghastly sight on long, gangly limbs, these apex predators make the frigid northern plains their home, where their exceptional height (owing in no small part to their extremely long necks) allows them to survey the plains for miles around. Once they spot suitable prey, they chase it down with a shuffling gait that has been described as the most unnerving thing about the creature. Males are solitary, but females rear their young for several years and so often bring their hunts back to their warrens to feed the cubs. If one stumbles across a stalker's cubs, it's advised to run immediately as far away as possible, for the mothers are fiercely protective of their young and will not hesitate to tear any perceived threat to their safety to shreds.

A massive, trodding beast native to the plains and forests, Manuretas are known for a couple of reasons. Firsty their omnivorousness; they mainly subsist on plants and grasses they find in their homes, but they will not hesitate to trample and then eat smaller creatures they can catch up to. Their thick, armored skin: taking one down without magic or some sort of very powerful weaponry is near impossible; a few charging Manureta can send an entire small army running. But most famously, is their love for dung. Any dung will do, but they prize their own the most, using surprisingly dexterous limbs for such a plodding beast to mark their territory, and even build small caves for themselves. Using a specialized spit they produce, they hold it all together, seemingly ignoring the scent that would be prevelant anywhere else. Manuretas are usually solitary, but are highly protective of their young; many an adventurer has been sent to the grave by an angry mother Manureta.

Swamp Gronkle. A large amphibian found in temperate to warm swamps, gronkles are easily recognized by their protruding tusks, lustrous sheen and signature yellow color. Despite what the bright coloration usually entails in amphibians, gronkles are neither venomous nor poisonous, but use their colors (which range from lime green to burnt orange) as a mating display, since a bright, shiny color to the skin is a surefire sign of a healthy adult -- juveniles are a more pale and muted color and ill gronkles tend to brown.

While rather taciturn in temperament, they are not by nature aggressive, their tusks being used in non-lethal competition among males and sometimes to dig up fungus and roots, both on land and on the river bottom. They can be domesticated, but make rather unfulfilling pets since their capacity for displays of affection are limited. However, among certain nobles a large, healthy male gronkle is considered a must-have adornment for a decorative pond, as their distinctive coloration complements the natural greens and browns of a pond nicely. Some have even gone as far as to include them in floral arrangement color theory, with gronkles being bred in captivity for specific colors in order to complement pond lilies and lotus flowers in wealthy estates.
