/tg/ - Traditional Games

Welcome to the Radon and Raiders thread!
Setting/DH adaptation-building thread for a post-apocalypse British Isles where things went to shit in the 1950s. The land is littered with Zones of strange, reality-warping energy, and society has reverted to near-medieval levels as people fight off radioactive mutants and strange creatures.

Last thread: >>67709083
Archive: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html

Thread prompt: people seem to be saying more NPCs are needed, so how about we come up with some?
>>
>>67858598
Current map of the Isles.
Purple is nasty land, yellow through red are the larger more active Zones. I’m going to update the unfinished northern parts later

>>
>>67858095 There was also Edward in Yorkshire, and on that note the last map update for that
>>67853901 I’d say it does vary between the clans, the initial invasion would have been bloody though, even where there isn’t currently conflict there would be a lot of ill-will
>>
>>67858598
This guy has the strange ability to survive within the most dangerous Zones armed with nothing but a blunderbus.
>>
>>67858598
There’s the Green Knight with his unkillable nature.

re: planes continuant
Craftsmanship to construct certain types of mid-century aircraft is not difficult in a technical sense, others would be almost impossible, so for those that can make them they're probably not going to make the high-end stuff.
HOWEVER.
Refurbishing and/or repairing scavenged stuff is an other matter, it's a lot simpler to repair & maintain than it is to construct, so if your state has retained the technical capability to build things more complex than a spinning wheel, the door opens to a lot more possibilities.
For example, one of the things I've done quietly in the background is put Warwick in a position to have at least one RED BEARD, which is not a weapon requiring a hugely potent delivery system.
We often either over or under estimate the sophistication of pre-transistor engineering, but anything that's been invented can be reinvented.
>>
>>67859115
The Green Knight is green because people were wearing drab green at the Somme.
>>
>>67859270
So who would be the main persons the players would meet when it comes to repairing or building engines?
It would be useful to know who to learn from or hire when they are building a small biplane or helping the USKS build the three cruisers.
>>
>>67858598
do VANGUARD and Radioactive Skeleton Spitfire count as npcs?
Anyway.

> Tom o'the Sloe is the headman of the Woodfolk associated with the Goblin Market at Dunchurch, no one remembers a time when the long-armed, long-fingered and spindle-shanked Woodman was not present at the Market, ensconced at its centre, bare feet under his table with a pipe in one hand and a mug in the other.
> "Supervising is thirsty work." he'll say, eyes twinkling green under shaggy white brows, a cheerful grin rarely leaving his face as he soaks in the prosperous hubbub of Man and 'Folk.
> Of course, Tom is also responsible for adjudicating disagreements in the Market, officially enrolled as a Justice of the Peace, his authority also owes much to charisma, a long history and a sharp eye for seeing a good solution to bad problems.
> Sometimes however, more is called for and Tom takes care of that too, roused from his table it is not the cheerful oldster who rises up and up to his feet, no, it's someone else entirely who pulls a blackthorn club as long as a man from under his table, strides long and fast and strikes like dark-faced thunder.
> But Tom prefers not to take on that aspect of himself, and as generally people, whether 'Folk, or just plain folk, would prefer not to be bludgeoned into a pulp by a great big stick the Market is usually kept peaceable enough that he does not need to.
>>
>>67858775
There's also general Cafferty, current head of the Dun Union, along with his predecessor general McInlay, but they've only been mentioned once and they aren't really everyday NPCs
>>
>>67859701
I personally consider an NPC to be a character one can interact with outside of combat. So at the very least, the Spitfires would simply be things that happen on occasion.
>>
We should probably work out a tad more about the sheriff running Lancashire
>>
>>67860694
They’re part of a line who has been in power for the eight generations since the war. He does deserve more characterization.
>>
>>67860828
Yeah, after everything Lancashire has still had the least stuff on it, barely any detail overall
>>
>>67859115
>>67859305

> I wonder how my home town of Leicester is doing?
> sovereign territory with good old filbert flag
> happy mercia vibes
>>
>>67863779
We haven’t got much stuff worked out regarding Leicester yet, any ideas from somebody from there?
>>
>>67863779
If I remember right from like a gazillion threads ago, "Leicestershire" was actually founded in territories which didn't possess Leicester, and only recently actually recovered it, for legitimacy purposes.
>>
>>67864616
I thought that was York that was recently liberated
Leicester was said to have some plans for trying to produce tea and such in the isles
>>
>>67864726
>>67864616
Said liberation was vital to giving the Yorkists valuable resources, and Edward the love of the people
Along with this allowing for the gaping holes in the army to be plugged with mercenaries, the liberation tourney is ongoing, and seems like a good opportunity for lots of stuff for a party
>>
>>67865511
The Tourney is celebrating an anniversary of the liberation. Good place for a mercenary band of players to find good rewards for skill. Possibly even a second chance if they’re refugees from Northumbria and the shattered fiefdoms.
>>
>>67858598
Who are the important people to meet in the USKS?
>>
>>67862751
Not sure Tolkien would be a knight. If he's in this setting at all then perhaps some reclusive old wizard/healer (pic related)?
>>
>>67867215
A changed one based on him wouldn’t hurt, many of them do go off to live in seclusion
>>
>>67867215
It was never confirmed to be Tolkien. It answers to the name of Tommy Atkins.
>>
>>67869496
I feel like if we wanted him to be an npc he'd have to be. Otherwise he'd have been dead for decades or even centuries before the game started.

I'm sure I've seen this pic before.

>This seems like a hilarious misunderstanding waiting to happen. >>67512976
>Yeah, that could be pretty awkward.
There's a megalomaniac ex-Nimuë NPC running amok with spectacular lack of success.
>Do everything, up to arranging Unfortunate Accidents for rivals to become Nessie's Bride... ...and discover that Nessie was the one in control and get exiled after unwittingly revealing your plans mid-rant.
>Seduce Arthur of Caerleon, claim the sacred authority of Nessie to bless him as the Rightful King so he can take over the isle, arrange an Unfortunate Accident and reign yourself as his widow......what do you mean, "you're not the current Nimuë, therefore you don't have the authority?

It doesn't follow that a child of the king gets to be the next king of Caerleon, it helps because the father will have trained them for the job as a father should and most first-born sons end up doing the same job as their father for that reason. Kinging is a job.

But to become king it takes more than a good chair and a heavy hat. It requires the consent, or at least the absence or real opposition, from the population and the support of the nobility whose families make up a significant chunk of the military.

Morgause might not have known this at the time or might have been planning to arrange matters to get that support. Her long terms goal being get the bastard maned Heir Apparent, Arthur has an accident whilst the kid is still young ad reign as Queen-Regent until the kid turns 18 and then rule in all but name for behind the throne.

Then her cover got blown and there's a bastard whose mother suffers delusions of grandeur. The Mordred equivalent might not even be that bad of a kid, he's just stuck in a very bad place at the moment.
>>
>>67871383
>>67871755
She's a crazed megalomaniac who REALLY WANTS to be the setting's BBEG but is totally incompetent.
>Become Nimuë. Discover Nessie holds all the actual power in said relationship. Unintentionally reveal her actual plan mid-rant.
>Attempt to seduce Arthur of Caerleon, use her supposed authority as Nimuë to get him proclaimed the Actual King Arthur, then Unfortunate Accident him and reign as Queen-Regent as you suggested. Result, nobody listens to her proclamation since she isn't the current Nimuë and her attempted political assassination fails.

>USE
Probably the President-Generals, who I'm imagiing all abandon their old last names upon taking office and take on the name of a famous American general. It's partially about maintaning their connection to their old homeland, and partially to protect their families from assasination attempts.

>Commonwealth of Sussex
The current King, Frederick the 3rd, named after the first duke of Sussex, Augustus Frederick, but also major parlimentarians. The heads of specific factions within the parliment, infuential voices, that sort of thing.

>New France
Though there are many french generals to call upon, Louis The Red is probaby the most likely to be willing to chat with mercenaries. Having risen through the ranks rom his early days as a simple lieutenant, he's in favour of using adventurish types as it doesn't use up valuable french soldiers.

>European Confederation
Probaby King Leopold, though any of the major lords, such as lord Lang, would probaby be better shouts. More likely to actuay talk to you about stuff/give you an job.

The current representative who gets sent from the USE is general Arthur Ulysses. He's a little haughty, but has a decent mind for diplomacy rather than just shooting stuff, which is most of the reason he gets sent to these meetings. He recently got in a bit of trouble over the disappearance of his eldest son. He might've been a wulver, but that's, according to him, naught but an unsubstantiated rumour sown by his political/military rivals to undercut his authority.

Large tracts of forest and slate hills, small villages connected by a canal network, maybe floating villages built onto the old flooded aggregate pits.

Trade with surrounding areas in textiles and low. Level I dustrial production to utilise the large factory complexes that might still exist (albeit with flooded lower levels)

Military would be composed of local militia that range the woodland and fields between villages, with hilltop waystations at Old John, beacon Hill and mowacre.
>>
>>67876455
Also depending on whether they could organise it in time, Leicestershire would have a higher percentage of citizens from the former imperial colonies, so you might have veterans of the war in Africa, Middle East ect, and as such the area might ttract other foreign displaced or be a hotbed for former imperial subjects turned mercenary.

The peak of quality in old fashioned weapons and armour comes from the small number of craftsmen capable of smithing some of the tainted metals recovered from deep in zones, often having been part of some abomination, which is most common in the industrial zones
No specific named ones exist so far, but the Isle of Man is pretty much on the map because of their craftsmen there, though that was mainly for their high quality firearms

How could something like that be fitted in?
At a glance it could be something like taking in dreadful amounts of radiation in place of others, but not sure how that would work
>>
>>67884174
Maybe they're an order of semi-civilized rad-wizard or willful martyrs that transfuse their cleaned blood from the tainted.
>>
>>67883696
I don’t think that would work too well in this setting. Most of the paranormal happenings are fueled through either radiation or the warping of the Zone. You’re more likely to have your body and mind tainted rather than your soul.

Of great interest to find, at least in the earlier days of this woeful age, would be the unmarked and unmapped hidden weapons stockpiles that buried during WW2 in case of invasion and occupation.
>>
>>67887921
The one in Caerleon is very much a singular leader while listening to the round table of advisors, while the one in Kernow considers themselves as equal rank as the other nobles around their table.
>>
>>67873010
King Leopold is pretty young, having been made king at the age of fifteen after the death of his father. Many more infuential lords are unhappy with his rule, mostly because he's far less easily manipuated than they expected. On another note, should the confederation's lords be divided by nationality? Like, Lord Lang's people are of german descent, some other's are descended from the swiss, Czechs or scandinavians? probably not enough room to do that for every european nation, but maybe the Lord's and their people all come from specific, yet different areas.
>>
>>67890234
It may very well have started out as each refugee group having a spokesman that eventually became a nominal leader of a given group which over time has become the lords as they are now. Of course the groups were so small individually that they couldn't maintain the divisions between them and they intermingled. The lords 200 years later can trace their origins and the origins of their titles back to those people and some even to a few generations before The Last War if someone from back then wrote things down. But they now are lords of a people rather than lords of peoples. The language that they speak could be described as Esperanto with a hint of eastern European.
>>
>>67890713
That makes sense. Perhaps there were some kind of minor civil war situation between these groups until they oined together into the confederation.

>>
>>
>>67889549
Arthur of Caerleon is basically Sigmar Heldenhammer while Arthur of Kernow is King Verence II of Lancre and has Merlin as his ultimate weapon.
>>
>>67900831
Merlin at least follows his Arthur willingly.
>>
>>67900831
Good way to put it
Caerleon’s Arthur seems to be far more reliant on old fashioned equipment, with the main standout to that being a recovered stockpile of artillery now used to support their troops
>>
>>67900831
Both of them know deep down that they're wearing the name Arthur for political reasons. Both of them are genuinely doing it for the betterment of The Isles. Both of them know that they'll have to go to what at some point, neither of them are happy about this.
>>
>>67904281
Caerleon’s Arthur uses boring but practical tactics of having a well-equipped and numerous fighting force. Kernow‘s Arthur is significantly outnumbered and outgunned, but gets all the Arthurian mystical bullshit.
>>
>>67904751
One of them could be the real deal, but either way there is another person claiming to be Arthur
>>
>>67904935
I'm imagining Caerleon’s Arthur as runnin a kingdom much like a military junta or a stratocracy. They have lordly titles and such but they are all in a strict military hierarchy. His round table is a meeting of military advisers and leaders but he is very much the king and everyone knows it. Caerleon Arthur knows that in times of emergency you need a single leader to follow to make decisive decisions promptly and you need people to follow and as such he has to become that leader to see his people safe and restore The Isles for the benefit of it's people. He can't be removed from power legally, only by either stepping down voluntarily (which he has no intention of doing) or by dying.

Kernow‘s Arthur rules by the authority invested in him by the will of the people and the support of those on his round table. He can be removed from office by the demands of the people and a majority vote from the members of the round table (which they have no intention of doing). He governs relatively loosely and has modelled his administration after his idealized version of the feudal structure and incorporates military ranks into it. He believes that in times of need it is wisdom and carful consideration of action that is needed more than hasty action.

Caerleon Arthur has a larger standing army and has more guns.

Kernow Arthur has a more elite army with more weird shit.
>>
>>67905839
That is a good way to sum up the differences.
>>
>>67906625
To expand on the military differences Caerleon Arthur has more guns, both heirloom and now, due to his contacts with the USE as well as his own workshops even if many of them are one-shot devices. His army is extensively supplemented by citizen's militias and emergency conscription further bulking out the already larger standing army. Further added to this is that if/when he ever did go to war there is a substantial number of people from Oxfordshire, Warwick and Leicestershire who would volunteer and rally around what they consider the banner of the man who will be king. But the volunteers will have to bring their own gear and it will be a strain on the provision stocks.

Kernow Arthur on the other hand has extremely well trained warrior nobility mostly armed with more primitive weapons bar the occasional heirloom but decked out in brigandine. He also has Merlin and more giants in his army than any other petty kingdom in The Isles. The Giants make up the Heavy Elites under the command of Knight-Commander Kai who is an absolute fucking unit. If/when war between the Arthurs happens Kernow Arthur will be able to expect at least some help from the Welsh nations even if he has to keep them separated. He's accept non-nobility citizens coming forth to serve in the army but he'd be less happy about it because they shouldn't have to.
>>
>>67901959
Merlin is a lot smarter and more coherent than most rad-wizards, he knows a good deal when he sees one.
>>
>>67900342
New France's leaders are all kind of... let's just say depressed. Unlike the USE, the people of New France KNOW that the homeland of their forefathers is an uninhabitable hellscape. The folks of the USE don't know that for sure, they only suspect. But they still have room for hope. As a result, the Generals of New France are far more practical than the Americans. They don't dither about with symbols, nor do they work to disguise their intentions/plans. They just do things and know that they must be done. They're pragmatists through and through.

>>
Kernow would probably have more guns overall due to their wealth
Caerleon was previously said to not be very advanced in tech, but had a lot of knights and knew how to use them to terrifying effect

>>67900342
New France is in a state of decline, they're permanently stand-offish and maudlin about their loss of territory and culture. If King Frederick and Sussex are the USKS's embodiment of stiff upper lip and Colonialism-era drive, France is the epitome of Laissez Faire. The Motherland is lost. Trying to gain it back will only accelerate our deaths. Why should we care?
>>67904751
I like the idea that if they met they would likely be friends, or at least allies, but their polictics/the situation they are in means that one has to die fr the other to bring his vision to fruition.
Cliche, but some sort of noble "may the best Arthur win" moment in combat would be cool, though probably a long way into the future.
>>67905839
I guess his prudence could stem from having sent so many gleaners into the European Zone. The nature of their work, being so cut off from the traditional military leadership and the necessity of initiative, could be symbolic of the pluralism of Arthur's reign. Also, their expeditions are one of the reasons Kernow's troops are so elite.
>>67907812
I like the sound of this. Kernow's more relaxed approach to the Zones, with their Giant troops and old-world/zone metal weaponry, opposed to Carleon's crusades, would likely draw the support of the Turingists, while Carleon will likely be favoured by the more orthodox Manx.

Pic could be a knight of Kernow defeating Kai, who swears service to Arthur and quickly rises through the ranks (no pun intended).

A lot of them, because of the rampant lycanthropy in their military, are also old enough to have been born in France.

>"Your forces here are all dead," he said to the ghostly image. "It was a wasted effort and a senseless loss of life."

>"I'm still goin' to stop you," the old woman grinned. The king could still see the burning corpses behind her tranlucent image.

>He sighed in resignation. "With all due respect, Ma'am, I don't think you have the slightest idea what I'm trying to accomplish."

>There was a pause. Then the old woman said, very matter-of-factly, "Yer trying to turn yerself into a god. And then use that power to take all the wrong things in the whole wide world and make 'em right."

>He blinked in surprise. "I apologize. You _do_ understand."

>"How could I not?" she sighed. Sadness colored her features and she looked away. "It's like lookin' in a mirror."

>He stared at her with new understanding. "We should be allies, then," he offered, but his tone was that of a man who already knows the reply, but feels that propriety requires the offer.

>"It seems t'me," she replied, sadly, "that you and I ain't likely to _agree_ on exactly what the wrong things are."

>His gaze fell. "No," he said.

>"And there's not really room for two supreme bein's, is there? You'll need every scrap o' belief, the devotion of ev'ry man, woman an' tyke if you're goin' to march up that mountain as a god instead of a man. You'll have to roll over ev'ry foe, ev'ry challenge until ev'ryone in the whole world believes in you more'n they believe in their gods. That's why you need that army and that's why you can't abide any equals."

>Their eyes met.

>"And that's why," she continued, "when I kill you, ev'ryone will believe in _me_."

>He squared his shoulders. "You'll lose in the end."

>"Fate and Luck, Chance an' Destiny. That's us. Luck'll get you a long ways, but even she can't escape Fate."

>"So which of us is Fate and which is Luck?" he asked, expecting the obvious answer.

>"I ain't sure yet," she said, startling him. She grinned. "That's why I've set _both_ of 'em against you."

Sir Kai isn't all that fall for a Giant, standing at a mere 8 and a half foot. It's just that he's built like an ox.

The best use, Arthur of Kernow has found, for Giant soldiers is to give them an extra size long bow. The range is fucking scary.

The USE was actually in a similar state of depression not too long ago.

They can function after a fashion. The human part of them has leaned to deal with the shit they have seen, the ones that couldn't find some sort of peace have died off in one sad way of another. The ones that are left are functional most of the time. Then full moon happens and the part of them that is beast can't deal with what they have seen and now it's in the drivers seat and it's frightened and in pain and it can't deal with it lashes out at everything and anyone close.

At those times the untainted comrades in arms had the poor hazard a bottle of whisky , chain him to a wall or lock them in a cell with a very sturdy door and wait for the screaming to stop.

22 days out of 28 they can hold down a job and are safe to be around. Not fun to be around, they are still damaged men but they unlikely to attack for no reason.

Due to the logistics of travel the were-wolves aren't going on any expeditions, they're staying home where people don't make sudden movements near them and always have a nice quiet cell for them to sleep it off in.

And it anyone tries to invade Little France they will realise the terrible, terrible depths of their miscalculation.

What made Stirling start the current Raids? What are these Raids like?
>>
>>67916415
Working for the Yorkists, the Men of Stirling’s proficiency in navigating zones efficiently and safely is being utilised to burst out of the industrial zones to the south of the Two Roses, doing whatever damage they can, normally aiming for important strategic targets, and then retreating back into the zones, where few would dare follow
The Lancastrians have begun to hire Changed Ones in hopes of using them to combat the Stirling Raids, thus giving us SAS fighting wizards in radioactive hellscapes

Any particular Turned mercenary the players could meet on the Lancashire side?
>>
>>67915252
There are those rare mercenary groups that will try to smuggle one into hostile territory, and then come back to get their comrade out again once the damage is done
>>
>>67918114
Changed Ones aren’t exactly common, let alone with mercs, but the bunch being sent to fight in the zones were recruited from Bath, where many seemed to congregate
In terms of other vaguely human Turned, Lancashire has militarily relied on its own army mostly so far compared to Yorkshire’s varied mercs, but stitchers could make for terrifying spies with the right support, possibly even capable of wearing the actual skin of a target to pass off as them and infiltrate, though this has not been seen before, and would require some top-notch surgery that can hardly be done anywhere
>>
>>67918187
Several Stitchers, Giants, Rad-Wizards, and even a Fomorian refugee can be on the Lancashire side.

Would we find many Iceland vikings in the south (most of them could be just under their king in Stornoway, and don t move if he doesn t say so. It probably depends on how much time has pass since the creation of inner iceland) ?

For example some of the norse men might have become merchants, indipendent raiding parties, mercenaries or just bands of men looking for ancient artifacts, lands, wealth and glory to take.

Some might just live in the sea with their families, in small fleets fishing and a few times raiding the coasts, uncaring of the dangers of both sea and land.

Perhaps the greatest raiders would have made names for themselfs, that the realms of the north know and fear.

Maybe some of them have abandoned complety any connection and loyalty they had to the king of Stornoway and the rest of their kin, and become generals, elite warriors or bodyguards of the rulers in the south.

The king of Inner Iceland fleet and the ones of the greatest raiders, might have access to old modifed fishing boats (with prows more adapted to ramming, "ballistas" taken from ancient whalers, functioning engines ecc ...) bring there by their forefathers.

The poorest raiders and merchants might have access only to boats with sails, without engines. (that are difficult to mantain for the iceland vikings, that s why some of them are willing to raid the advance realms capturing any learned men they find, hoping to learn to better mantain their engines or even make new ones. They could be searching for new sources of fuel as well)
I imagine them wearing old fishing equipment and maybe on top of it some "plates" made of scrap metal and trophies/equipment taken from foes be it human or beast (some of their raiders, might have recover diving suits, and use them both in battle and for recover lost artifacts in the sea), not like in pic .
>>
>>67925297
About thirteen years since the Icelanders showed up I think. I figure they're a more northern thing. You'll get a couple attacking the coast of wales and place like that, but I feel like longer journeys over the sea could just end up being too dangerous. Also, I don't think the Icelanders have a king as such. They're a bunch of assorted clans united under the Icelandic Government in Exile, so I think it's more likely that they have a president or something similar.
>>
>>67925784
>>67925297
Seems like we still had them as a bunch of unified clans, under one leader overall
They’re still overall a hostile presence in the far north, raiding those below them, but there’s nothing to stop some from finding success further down south, Scots wouldn’t likely tolerate them after the invasion
>>
>>67925879
They can't be too shit to the Scotts because they rely on the sea for pretty much everything. Nessie can go out to sea. Nessie has attacked ships before when they have crossed a line. Nessie doesn't much give a shit about politics and couldn't care less who rules Scotland, just so long as they don't hurt too badly her people.
>>
>>67927281
Pretty sure Nessie's only really protective of Loch Ness/the Scots clans near Lich Ness. If she was that big an issue for the Icelanders they'd either never raid anyone or they'd have already tried to kill her, and seeing as they have some practice killing giant sea monsters it's entirely possible they could succeed.
>>
>>67927281
>>67928409
Nessie tends to keep to the Caledonian Canal. She can kill just about any sea beast that enters the waters, but her leaving would cause several beasts in the area to attack her as they would see her as invading their territory. While she can easily drive them all off (outside of those parasite things), the constant fighting would be exhausting.
>>
>>67924301
The smallest are the German Ghouls, ranging from 2.5 to 3 meters. The biggest are the Jotunn, who are generally about 5 meters but can reach (in rare cases) 12 meters. Weight/bulk wise, the Trolls-basically the catch-all term for giant humanoid creature- of which Kai is a member, are the largest, the biggest reaching 11 tonnes. They're the tradition DnD Hill Giant/ Ogre type chap.
>>
>>67925784
>>67925879

so they still need to remain the north and made their settlements in this new land.

With maybe a raid or two against the scots.

(also i read in the doc that they where a government with a tribal despot. So i thought it was a tribal king adding the low tech too)

also just found a nice pic for them.

Might be too much, but it s nice.
also fine with some of their ships being modified old fishing boats for raiding and war ?

and their general look (mix of old fishing equipment, plates of scrap metal and trophies/equipment taken from defeated foes) ?
>>
>>67929752
*to remain in the north
>>
>>67929752
Sounds good overall
The initial invasion has taken all their current land, any a new wave of it could still occur
Their fleets are rather ramshackle in places, due to them being whatever could be used to flee Iceland when it fell, but the ships that survived the treacherous run to Scotland can be improved, and new ships can be made
>>67929457
I’d keep trolls to the old plan of somewhat humanoid but definitely not on cooperative terms
Humanoid giants of the more friendly and not gigantic variety are still a rarity, but could work best for any working with humans, since they’ve been shown before to work with mercenaries rarely
>>
>>67929752
Most of the stuff in the doc is pretty out of date, so I'd take the stuff there with a grain of salt.
>>
>>67931514
The doc may not have had new stuff added recently, but the stuff it does have should be pretty close to the truth
The Icelandic Raiders had been set out as unified clans under a single leader for quite a while
>>
>>67928409
>they'd have already tried to kill her
Then they would die. Badly.
>>
>>67930699
Fair enough, I just liked the idea of Trolls being used as a term for "abnormally sized human" all the way up to "massive goblin king type retards", so you could get classic dungeon bosses and the BFG all in one broad sweep.
>>67931935
Yeah, I think "making it to the doc" basically solidifies shit as canonical. Doesn't mean that shit that ISN'T in the doc isn't true, of course. Just that it needs updating.

The Radical Turingists are the guys making their own new technozombies.

Statwise, German Ghouls are much less powerful and durable than Radical Turingist Knights Of The Faith, but they're a lot more intelligent, free willed and potential PC material. Radical Turingist Knights are just mindless tools of their creators.
>>
>>67935461
It is interesting. Things like Rad-wizards, Fomorian refugees, Stitchers, and German Ghouls would most easily blend in with your common protective suit and mask, due to how prolific those pieces of clothing are.
So I have to wonder; how accepting are the average people of the Isles when they meet someone who would rather not remove their mask?
>>
>>67935461
I’d probably flip that, German ghouls were meant to be grotesque killing machines that endlessly stalked what was once Germany, by now ancient and further twisted by the zones there
Radical turingists were a splinter group of an already not huge faction, and compared to the pre-fall world that German ghouls came from they’re working with a fraction of a fraction of the resources and knowledge.
Knights of the Faith that have been turned into zone-tainted abominations would be mean motherfuckers, but by no means dumb, having very recently been skilled, intelligent people trusted to handle the Turingists’ supply of old-age weapons
I don’t think either really constitutes party member material, especially for normal people
>>
>>67935817
Way we had it seemed to be that Changed Ones were shunned in many places, so many lived their lives away from major settlements generally, and/or covered themselves up to help hide the disfigurements and any harmful effects of their condition
With Fomorians, even the best of them are mutated lizard people who still go feral after some time, but some have found a period of living with the most isolated Turingist monasteries
Stitchers should be able to get by fine in most places, as it’s not too hard for them to pass themselves off as normal people, as long as they’ve stuck to human parts and not done anything crazy
I’m not really sure why people are treating German ghouls like more humanoid and thinking beings now, since long as I can remember they have been metal-flesh monsters fighting endlessly in Germany with not much else in mind than killing their Russian counterparts
People posted stuff like this when talking about them, plus some much nastier looking stuff that I can’t find right now
>>
>>67936105
Ok, found one
Hopefully better than that robot for ants
>>
>>67936124
Yeah. I was thinking most of them would be somewhere along the lines of the “Frankenstein’s Army” Look.

You could have a thinking person that looks like a German Ghoul, but they would be much newer than those in Germany. The the result of a purposeful surgery. Most likely done through a combination of Stitcher medication and Turing science, possibly originating from Cambridge or Oxford. Not a true German Ghoul, but close enough stat-wise to not matter.
>>
>>67935829
Radical Turingist history:
>They modify their monastery's computer with Zone-corrupted parts.
>It starts spitting out variably useful information, including a how-to guide for fleshcrafting.
>They believe God is speaking to them through it and start using said information.

The original Radicals were monks who'd been born human and attempted to augment themselves. Once they started having trouble recruiting, they began making new recruits from scratch.
>>
>>67937411
Mostly just dead from their graveyard or victims of the Paranoia. They have had no need to procure new flesh personally.
Occasionally there might be a traveler who might join into their cause, but travel is quite rare.

Who is the head priest of the Radicals?
>>
>>67937411
>The original Radicals were monks who'd been born human and attempted to augment themselves
Minimal modifications from default human anatomy. Sort of a Mark Of The Beast thing going on, where you'll only figure out they aren't entirely human if you find the occasional patch of circuit-patterned scarification or tiny metal plugs and sockets poking through the skin, typically somewhere where it could be hidden by default clothing.
>>
>>67937411
>Once they started having trouble recruiting, they began making new recruits from scratch.
These guys are either:
>What look like knights in full armor, only absolutely enormous and with the joints sealed like diving suits.
>All body horror, all the time.
>>
>>67937462
>Who is the head priest of the Radicals?
Well, on paper, that would be the Oracle Engine. In actuality, the Engine's outputted infromation is only variably useful, so the interpreter is the guy actually running the show.
>>
>>67937462
>>67937524
What's the High Interpreter's motivation? Are they in it for power in the Oracle Engine's name? Immortality via Zone-corruption fueled biotechnology? Leaving this corrupted planet aboard a flying nuclear disaster? A true believer?
>>
>>67938805
Possibly waiting for it to tell them how to unZone an area of make a Zone proof human. Then he launches a crusade to take the planet back.
>>
I’d keep Knight’s of the faith to the original ones of that monastery, because they make such tough opponents
They were big guys with some of the best heavy weaponry that ever existed before they were jammed full of zone-stuff and put in a big heavy suit
>>67938805
That’s mostly been left out in the open so a gm could use them as needed
>>
>>67937524
They do still follow the machine religiously, so whilst the interpreter calls the shots it’s not really corrupt, they seem to follow the information they receive as best as they can
>>
>>67938805
>>67940319
The interpreter’s job is relatively easy. Many people could have the job before the party meets one, so their motivation can change.
>>
>>67941751
I wouldn’t be surprised if their room was completely covered in the raw data outputs from their Oracle machine.

trying to make their ruler, i will write it more like rumors of him. Might a bit too generic barbarian leader :

Hadrason "The Storm of the North" is the king of the norsemen that arrived from the mystical land of Iceland, a mysterious and far away land of never ending winters and dangerous creatures.

Here in the north many fear him : be the sturdy clansmen of the Great Glen, the zealots of the great city of Edinburgh or the secluded men of the Dun Union.

Is raids are fast and ferocious, he orders to take and capture anything, and before proper forces are assemble he is already back in the sea. What is left behind is ash and death.

But thinking that this man, is a coward would be an error that many have done out of pride or inexperience.

He has shown many times to armies that pursued is warband or clan leaders that challenge him in a duel, is strength.

Like a storm he passes, destroying any armies, champions and settlements that are in is path. To pursue or challenge him is to be against a force of nature, unpredictable and devastating.

Until now no one was able to defeat him, and much of is figure remains a mystery for the people of the north realms.

In Edinburgh recently small groups of scared peasants have associate him to a figure of evil, a prophet of an incoming apocalyptic eternal winter that will forever take the whole world.

I think we might have different definitions of the German Ghouls. The German Ghouls are a type of slight (for a giant), and relatively intelligent Giant, a la this image:

The German war-creatures depicted here: >>67936124 are different things, though I can see why both names would work for them.
>>67937507
Knights of the Faith varying depending on their temperament in life, and the role they've been built for, would be pretty interesting.

Given their small number, that would be cool for KOTF
Each was once a great knight of the order, and likely specialised in some way, their current states could reflect that
>>
>>67884242
Given that taking in large amounts of radiation or exerting themselves pushes Changed Ones far closer to succumbing to the curse, it could make “sin eating” one hell of a sacrificial thing to do
One with the understanding/capability could possibly save irradiated comrades at the cost of their own sanity and not being on fire
>>

>>
>>67949855

Whilst smart and retaining some form of personality, they’ll still be following the orders of the radicalists above them
>>
>>67947980
I think ironically that image was also used for the old murdermachine sorts, with that figure next to them contributing to the stuff in this >>67948965
I’m fine with the general idea, but do they have to be German? We already had it worked out that less-gigantic and just about cooperative giants existed, the German part makes it sound like they’ve been living in the inhospitable war zone of Germany and somehow moved in, and would probably cause more confusion with the old sort
>>
>>67936124
>>67947980
Sounds to me like the German Ghouls are naked like the Horned Men. A similar name for different creatures.
So the emphasis on the words is where the distinction would lay. If the German is emphasized, it’s likely the intelligent Giants. If the Ghoul is emphasized, then it would be the Frankenstein monsters.

Knights of the faith retain skills and fragmentary memories from life, but are brainwashed/entirely loyal to the Radical Turingists. Consequentially, the Radicals prefer to use the corpses of skilled soldiers rather than just random victims of the paranoia fog as raw materials. Even if they have to make said corpses themselves.
>>
>>67953305
Of course, if someone was in the Paranoia long enough to reach the Radical’s monastery, they would likely have to be put down anyway before they gouge out everybody’s eyes to stop the feeling of being watched. Might as well get some use from their body afterwards.
>>
>>67953789
It's the difference between reanimating them as a Knight Of The Faith, vs just adding their corpse to their equivalent of a spare parts bin, only to use bits of it in dozens of other projects. Bits of nervous system patched into the computer, musculature added to a Knight to bulk them up, an eye installed in a flying drone, etc.
>>
>>67953789
Is the monastery subject to the paranoia effect?
>>
>>67953915
Is stick with at least the original KOTF undertaking the process themselves, whilst alive
It’s a little more messed up if they happily volunteered to be turned into an abomination
>>67955404
They’re all already batshit in there, but if we are following Turing managing to work out which spots in Ireland would be least affected by the zones, then they’re in a rather untouched spot, albeit very isolated and close to a zone

///

A series of mysterious events happen, and essentially most of the world states, where taken over by this "Zones". Continents and Oceans are filled to the brim with it. Britain and the near coasts are almost a safe "heaven.
Some threads ago someone detailed Berlin, Paris, Rome, Washington and Moscow in a very mythological and obscure way. This cities are beyond dangerous there is like a .... divine/eldritich line, you surpass when you enter them. There some other anons that fleshed out a bit the Usa, there is still somethingn (maybe) that gives hope to the state of the United States in Exile here in England. Other anons in the first threads have try to give something even to the other places of the world. But the world outside the islands of britain is dead, mysterious and extremely dangerous.

(maybe some lucky places but that s about it. I think it has been kept like this even for keep the sense of mystery, and let the people that will play this run wild with theories. And also because the setting is in the Isles, so we need to flesh it out.

But creating some theories or ideas for the rest of the world wouldn t be bad, maybe they can be dangerous quests based on rumors sayed by old mad adventures/sailors.)

France is not safe to visit for long times. The whole of Europe is Zoned to one extent or another with only little islands of no-Zone. Mostly you have to just walk around the deeper Zone areas and hope that the low level exposure won't damage you too much. There are some people still just about managing to survive there as nomadic hunters and scavengers but it's barely surviving rather than living. Paris is the City of Lights but it is a Silent City. Nobody that goes there comes back (except one man, and he was driven bonkers).

Russia is fucking gone. There's some activity in the Ural Mountains but these revenants and remnants of the old regime caught there to haunt old fallout bases eternally. The Red Army of clockwork and flesh zombies marches west, legion in number and unstoppable but caught in a time/space loop. If the loop ever breaks they will be a big problem.

Novgorod survives with real living people in it as a fortified enclave. The Mayor is a holy man called Rasputin and he does know a lot about history and paranormal lore. Most assume he isn't that Rasputin despite the mad eyes and beard because lots of people have ben called Rasputin and that would make him pushing 300 years old. The other name he answers to is Koschei. They have some dealing with wanderers that come and go, nomads and hunters and such. They are a fearful breed of people, fearful but hardy.

Of the far east all that is known is that an expedition into Far Europe once encountered an oriental looking fellow. Due to the language barrier little was learned before he and the expedition parted ways, it seems he came down the silk road so there must be something somewhere. Possibly. Maybe.

Middle East is an unknown.

>>67973637
The giant German Ghouls simply originate in Germany, and were seen many times with the Frankenstein-like German Ghouls, so they both got the same name.

I think that the appearance problem can be easily solved due to gas masks and coverings being required to explore the dangerous Zones. Someone so covered that you can’t see their body or face shouldn’t be a surprise.

So do the Isles-native sorts of smaller giant still exist? Are they not too fond of their foreign cousins?
>>
>>67980277
Isles Native giants are just big humans. They cap out at ~12' and are made of flesh and blood with flesh and blood parents. They are born regular human sized but don't stop growing at puberty until they are FUCKIN' HUEJ. They are born at random and are thus spread out across The Isles pretty evenly but do tend to clump together with others of their own kind due to the common belief that they Zone Beasts. Technically they probably are Zone Beasts, they sure as shit weren't around before the 1960s. They aren't just humans with Gigantism, they don't have the same deformaties or health concerns. They sometimes get called Ogres.

Jötunn are a different thing altogether. For one thing they can be a shit load bigger and seem to often not be made of flesh and bone. They also eat humans. They seem to only be native to Iceland, thank fuck, although it's not outside the realms of possibility that they could launch an expedition across the winter ice and get to other lands across the extreme North.

The Brenin Arthur of Kernow has more Giants because he and his people don't discriminate against them and even has one as a Knight Commander. This has caused many of them flock to his banner.

Jötunn on the other hand just seem to follow who is biggest so they they don't get beaten up or killed and and eaten. How smart Jötunn are is debatable.
>>
>>67980909
>Icelandic Raiders flee their destroyed homeland across the sea

Sounds good
Isle Giants probably aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed themselves, but can clearly work with people in the right circumstances
There were also apparently some big nasty giants in the ruins of Dublin, could be a whole different breed but thankfully they don’t seem to roam out of their home, but neither does anybody mad enough to go in

>>67981143

>Icelandic Raiders flee their destroyed homeland across the sea
>Some Jötunn keep chasing them

If they arrive some time later on, it would be better. They are almost impossible to kill from past descriptions, and if they are already in the home of the icelanders vikings ... you can just cancel Inner Iceland has a faction, maybe put it as a foot note and just center everything on a Jotunn invasion.

Why ?

they have just suffer an exodus, their fleets are in bad conditions, they are still establishing themselfs here (and if the Jotunn arrive immediatly after, why they would establish their new home so near Iceland ? they would have go more south) and they can do barely some raids. They are almost on the verge of death and all the south is hostile too them.
>>
>>67981365
I was thinking more of that as a joke, or at most a small number showing up a while later, since they would need to make themselves a bloody big boat to do it, a thread but by no means apocalyptic, two or three showing up at most
>>
>>67981573

yeah but they have probaly kill and hunt icelanders for sport back in Iceland.

It s like a pack of great deadly creatures of a zone, decide to go outside.

They reduce the surroundings in a bloodbath.
>>
>>67981655
That’s why Iceland itself was fled en-masse, many more likely set off than arrived on the Scottish shores
Nobody has dared return to Iceland since it fell, but it is likely all giants domain now
There could be some few Icelanders scraping by there out of sight, but if so they remain unseen until somebody returns to the homeland
>>
>>67981318
They’re still not a common sight in most of the isles, many seem to live out in the wilderness, which likely doesn’t do them any favours in terms of being compared to zone beasts that stalk uncivilised land
>>
>>67977126
>>67976781
So what’s Austria like? Some overlap of the German situation?
Problem is the further inland we get the harder it would be to reasonably reach a place without everybody dying horribly
Even a truly suicidal expedition to Switzerland would likely need to try and find an underground passage as soon as possible
>>
>>67983922
The biggest problem of going inland is that radiation is a constant problem in the Zones, and the poultice’s able to reduce the damage caused are hard to make in the field.
>>
>>67984815
That too, I would build up and be hard to remove again
>>
>>67985374

>>67986818
I’m not sure someone is very lucky in surviving a fatal dose only to end up as something like a troll in the middle of nowhere

>>
>>67976355
They could for a time but the Zones have radiation both conventional and magical that will ruin your life eventually. Switzerland due to it's geography and a bit of luck is low-level to clean in terms of fallout and contamination for the most part compared to the lands surrounding it. Not as good as The Isles, obviously, but you could probably live there rather than just survive. Except from the tunnelling assholes from Below.
>>
>>67980909
>>67911008
I really like the idea of giving the Giants long bows. Shit would be fucking scary to deal with.. It's not quite a siege weapon but it's not quite a hand weapon.
>>
>>67927281
Also a fair number of the more isolated homes are were-wolf families. They absolutely are not worth the effort.
>>
>>67990058
They could make for a staple in giant-weaponry, like waking ballistas that can also tear you in half with their bare hands
>>
>>67991455
Their power would explain why bows are back in use even though guns exist.
>>
>>67992581
Well, guns aren’t everywhere, especially not the fancy automatic sorts if just before the world ended
Plus they would be a bit small for a giant to operate
>>
>>67992581
Bow is back in use because the industrial infrastructure to make anything not a shit one-shot weapon is limited to a few masters in a few workshops making things by hand. Bows aren't as good but they can be made faster by more people.
>>
Following from earlier posts, some Icelanders could try to make an expedition back home to see what state it’s in, if anybody somehow survived or to try and recover anything left behind
>>
>>67996051
Oh, the first generation did that a lot. It’s where the second Generation learned raiding tactics.
Those in the first invasion didn’t all intend for their kids to turn raider, but it just turned out that raiding was more profitable than settling down to farm in their new kingdom.
>>
>>67997316
The Icelandic raiders haven’t been about in the isles for too long yet, and we did have it that nobody had gone back after the fleeing of Iceland was said to be an absolute shitshow
Tactics for raiding Scottish territories along the coasts also probably wouldnt mix with having to survive traversing the North Sea for quite a distance to a Jotünn-infested Iceland where if they don’t keep a low profile they could be torn apart
A beginning of trying to find what has become of Iceland and any chance of salvage or survivors could make for interesting stuff for parties, and the invasion still bring rather fresh as it was would help for the Scottish-Icelandic problems
>>
>>67997421
In that case, it can be the reverse of what >>67997316 said. Some of The second generation is planning on using the raiding tactics they’ve learned to recover and hit parts of Iceland before the Jotunn can react.
>>
>>67998060
They should probably scout it out first with the expeditions to get an idea of what is there, then if there is more worth coming back for they could scale up the expedition-raids to recover survivors/valuable treasure
>>
If Isle-Giants can make terrifying use of a longbow, what of the Jotünn?
Whereas Isle-giants might be able to awkwardly use human melee weapons, something that but would probably do significant harm with just an uprooted tree being swung around, especially if they lack craftsmanship to make weapons
>>
>>67998765
When you’re large enough to hurl rocks like artillery, one doesn’t need much craft to cause massive amounts of damage.
>>
>>67998765
The Giants in Iceland don’t have too many proper weapons. Their strength makes up for that.
>>
>>67998765
Jotünn might not be bright enough to make weapons better than a club. Their cleverness is questionable, they were never human.
>>
>>67991087
Of those wulvers do roam out and do harm to nearby populaces, then people may need to be sent out to deal with them
>>
>>68003718
I imagine that the Wulvers do police their own to some extent. Not out of any sense of common good but because if one of them goes full asshole they all get shit on. A pack of humans with weapons is a genuine threat to them and most of them have human wives/husbands and children who really are at risk.

It sometimes doesn't work, they are all isolationist. Mobs happen.
>>
>>68003906
So they keep to themselves for the most part. Interesting.
>>
>>68004914
It's a symptom of the condition. The French were infected whilst part of a military structure to which they were dedicated and their new pack and territorial instincts merged with the military hierarchy.

The civilian Wulver didn't have this as they were volunteers experimented on using illegally obtained blood samples in experiments of the old British government and the vast majority are accidental infections since then.

Their animal instincts had nothing to latch onto and so they developed a "stay off my territory" mindset not unlike the most rabid "Sovereign Citizen" nutjob.

It's manageable except for the few days either side of the full moon when they're just grumpy sods. You walk on the marked path to their house if you want to visit and you fuck off if they don't want visitors or they will hurt you. They don't fight for anyone, they don't get along with anyone. They get along with each other even worse than normal people.

At full moon they will straight up murder trespassers. No warning. They won't go after you if you leave their land but that's all the politeness that they will afford you. They can differentiate between stranger and kin and they won't attack kin unless they feel challenged by them but that's as far as higher thought seems to go.

They know what they are, that's why they isolate themselves.
>>
>>68005122
They can still get the pack mentality due to their family- specifically the kids- being Wulver as well. It’s a much healthier mentality, as they don’t have the constant need to be the one to protect their territory.
>>
Maybe smart giants are the threat that drove out the Horned Men? We're dealing with the giant equivalent of feral children, they were attacked by an actual civilization.
>>
>>68006241
We already have that sort of situation with the Icelandic Raiders, could keep the Horned Men as just blatantly attacking from somewhere else in skandinavia, makes them more of an organised threat to both the Icelanders and Scots that could force them to cooperate if things get bad enough
>>
>>68005122
I’d say they got into the Isles with the second Dunkirk evacuation
Some can still roam out of their homes, which can lead to all sorts of problems and deaths, thus the keeping to isolation mostly outside of any in New France having to take other precautions
>>
>>68003063
>>68000255
>>67998765
They may not need to be intelligent, but they're most likely ARE the most intelligent of all the species of Giants. They're effectively the Norse Jotun of legend reborn, so they've have a certain degree of craft and have formed a feudal society in Iceland, lording it over the humans and horned men who remain there.
>>
>>68008736
There is also the Great Fire Wurm sleeping down the middle of Iceland.
>>
>>68008736
I do t think there were any horned men in Iceland, they were said to be an unknown and a very new arrival, coming from the general direction of Denmark or Sweden
The exact state of the overrun Iceland could be left down to GMs, though that does sound like a cool option for it
>>
Leaving Iceland an unknown for the gm to build on could work
Could slow Iceland to be in whatever state suits what a party does
Icelandic-Islander communication could also be a bit awkward for those trying to make a life in the isles away from the invaded land, both in language and then sticking out like a sore thumb
>>
>>68011944
Well, the thing about Iceland is that before the Jotunn appeared it was the area to be least effected by the Zones and Nukes in the area. It was one of the destinations during the evacuations, but since the Zones and Nukes had yet to reach Britain and Iceland being Iceland, more people went to the Isles instead. Though a “normal” land would still be quite unusual. The Jotunn would simply be an outside-context problem there.

>>68009213
That would turn out to be the name of the line of volcanoes along the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
>>
>>68012257
Iceland did seem to do well for itself following the fall, seeing as people lived there for quite a while until it was overrun
Assuredly they had been effectively stuck there due to the hazards of sea-travel until it was that or being snapped in half like a twig by a giant
>>
>>
If I remember right the Horned Men attacks had only just begun, with the Shetlands taking the first hit
The Horned Men had swept over the unprepared settlers and were now constructing some sort of fortress in the ruins of the old capital there
>>
>>67966698
Some hope to one day carry out an expedition to try and reach these Swiss survivors, to see other survivors of the fall and in search of the treasures hidden down in the tunnels
>>
>>68016689
That’s actually relatively easy. You just need to pay a few Goeaners enough to make the track through Europe. Despite the beasts and radiation, the land is actually easier to travel since people have been probing the continent since the War.
>>
Bump
>>
>>68017707
It’s still meant to be dangerous as all hel there from the sheer concentration of zones and nasty things from them
An old post mentioned needing to find a way underground as fast as possible for those trying to reach it due to the hazards
>>
>>68017707
People have been running expeditions since The War. It's not any safer, people just have more experience of dealing with the hazards.
>>
>>68020608

>>
Didn't we have Horned Men starting as humans in costumes, then metamorphosing into skinwalker-style monstrosities.
>>
>>68022041
i think the issue was Horned Men was used by several people to describe half a dozen concepts, I think it's settled on being the icelandic raiders now, but there might be bleed from other concepts.
>>
>>68022604
Not quite Icelandic but still raiders if they’ve started hitting both Icelanders and Scots
>>
>>68022604
I think there is still a clear separation between the Icelandic Raiders and the Horned Men. The Icelanders just want to settle, though many turned to raiding, while the Horned Men are proper Zone Beasts. However, the idea that they sort of transmogrified from feral humans to full-on monsters, like >>68022041
said, is a cool theme. Fits with the whole Fianna idea as well.
>>
>>68023132
I'd say keep them separate but the Scots don't know that they are unrelated. Both started making life hard for them at more or less the same time and they haven't fully realized that the Horned Assholes are making life hard for the Icelanders as well.
>>
>>67947980
A good way to tell the difference between the two types of German Ghouls is their appearance. The giants are big, while the others are more like this.
>>
>>68024219
That would fit with how it was suggested there were more than one group being called “Horned Men”. Like with the German Ghouls, it’s a similar name given to a different beast by different people.
>>
>>68024219
That sounds good, though the Icelanders have been around a tad longer if the Horned Men have just turned up
>>
>>68026289
The Icelanders have been around longer but have only started their invasion recently.
>>
>>68026548
Their invasion was the settling of Inner Iceland, which happened about a generation before the present. It’s the raiding culture that’s new, and many people who are recording the history are simply calling another part of the Icelandic Invasion.
>>
>>68026611
Others have said it was more recent, only a couple of years since the first arrivals, though the Icelanders have slowed down and pretty much stopped in their current positions for the time being
>>
Anything else relevant to the industrial zones? They were said to have living-metal abominations that made for a source of zone-metal if they can be killed, and stuff like living barbed wire-weed that would need cutting up on occasion to prevent it from spreading out into the countryside, which also made for a source of metal in a way, or free barbed wire as long as it rerooting itself doesn’t happen
>>
>>68024300
Yeah, the Frankenstein's Army ones are created, the Giant ones are born/Turned or whatever.
>>68024444
That fits nicely. Also checked.
>>68029337
We definitely need to develop the Industrial Zones, but what you said is pretty much all we've got so far
>>
>>68029337
I remember a post about some kind of centipede-wyrm-scavenger beast roaming the Industrial Zones. I would guess that they are the ones who feed of the Wire Weed.
>>
>>68030793
>>68031761
Sounds good
The industrial zones do have the largest quantities of useable zone metal, given the stuff is rare and valued by those who can smith it
>>
Wire-weed could be useful for a source of metal and/or barbed wire, but unless melted down it is likely to take root again and begin once again to grow, causing all sorts of damage
>>
>>68034130
That happened to a few settlements on the edge of the Zone in the early years after the War.
A man thought they would make a good defense against the new beasts appearing, so they planted some around their town. It worked for a while, slowly growing and guided until they were essentially walls of metallic bramble. But one day some branches fell over the two gates and they were too thick to cut. A trader found the small settlement with everyone having either died of thirst, starvation, or tangled dead in the wire.
>>
>>68034576
Great stuff!
>>
There also hasn’t been much on the zones north of Yorkshire and Lancashire, aside from them aggressively expanding and driving Northumbria back to the coast for the most part
>>
>>68037434
Thanks. Could make for a good encounter.
>>
>>68030793
>Giant ones are born/Turned
They start as humans, they just don't stop growing.
>>
>>68034576
I think it works better if instead of the brambles blockading the villagers in, they just vanish. Nobody's sure what happened.
>>
>>68041350
Well, other dodgy stuff like that could happen if you’re a little close to a zone for comfort
Wire-weed getting out of hand is more of a simple but concerning “there is barbed wire everywhere, it is coming through the walls” sort of problem
>>
>>68040505
That’s the case for some, they are also born rarely in existing groups of them
>>
>>68006137

>>
>>68046725
We could still do some things with the new environment of the Industrial Zones, as it’s the most alien of the Zones. Like what metalic plants grow, what feeds upon them, what factories are/are not intact, what can be found within mines, what-have-you.
>>
>>68046891
That sounds good
It sounds like a potential treasure trove, and is very different from most of the other major zones
As well as hopefully get some more map work done I’ll take a look at getting the rules stuff we have together
>>
>>68046891
>what metallic plants grow
There are rumors of trees with golden fruit. Various people would pay highly for a seed, if anyone could find one.
>>
>>68048334
Along with the odd stuff sprouting up in there, there are bound to be old-age supplies and weapons in there that would fetch a pretty penny

>>
>>68046891

It’s only of the metal parts, they have to be solid pieces, and it can only do two perfect replicas before the quality degrades drastically. It takes a couple days to form, and you have to wait a week for it to reset.

Heres an NPC idea.
>Over the areas of perceived invaders and foreigners can often be sited a Lancaster bomber piloted by an unknown man or crew occasionally dropping crude gasoline bombs but always missing its target.
>Children often say its of an old pilot from the war, gone mad with doomsday, taking up in his plane to kill every Kraut or Yankee in sight

Sounds good!
The number of ghost planes haunting the horizons grows
They probably scare the hell out of most people

Imagine your just wandering about scavenging for food with your family and every two days you go near deaf when a massive bomber plane or a fleet of fights goes over your head. You dont know what those people are doing or what they want.

Seems like the industrial zones and some more on gleaner/mercenary work in zones works for a prompt
