There's nothing I love more than random tables that inspire creativity. Mutation tables, random encounters, city generation, it's all really fun!

What I want to build is a solo world generation game/toy for DMs, or people who just enjoy playing with tables like this. Mechanics for filling in a hex map, determining the geography, history, cosmology, a few notable historical figures, the races, ect. I was hoping /tg/ would like to work on it together. :)

I think our first step would be

1.Roll D100 on the following table
1-60 Simple Round world
61-86 Simple Flat world
87-89 Great Ice Ball World
90-92 Hollow world
93 - 94 Infinite plane
95-96 Multiple Planes connected by portals
97-98 Multiple Round worlds in close proximity
99-100 Invent something exotic!

Tables don't inspire creativity. They impede creativity, by offloading actual creative work to just going with whatever random crap comes up from the tables. If you want to make a world, MAKE A WORLD.

IceBall, the Planet!

What is cool about Iceball?

1- 25 Icerigger ships on skates as a major form of transportation

Gold Hole has Ice Spidergod and Cragwell has Triplet Lizardmen with mental timeshare. This is pretty fun.

>The Fun City has: volcanic vent heating, hottubs and Ice golem soldiers.

>Fun City is ruled by a creepy Ice Maiden Ghost who freezes people to use as statues, her name is Yuri/Malgorath.

>Gold Hole and Cragwell are neighboring cities to Fun City.

>Gold Hole is ruled by an Ice Spidergod

>Cragwell is ruled by Lizardmen Triplets w/ a shared mind.

>The major item of wealth is Laen, a true glass which only melts in extreme cold. Complex forges in extreme locations are needed to make it. It is made into powerful weapons and armor.

I want this to live, so here're my meager offerings. Somewhere near Fun City there's a fantastical natural feature which the kinder people will warn strangers of if they're headed in that direction. It's:

1-30 a spire of some cracked black substance which afflicts those particularly attuned to magic nearby with a powerful urge to chip away and get at its center, supplanting any desire for food or warmth. Nobody's managed to get even close to its core.

31-50 a plane of hypertransparent ice host to an enormous flock of razor-feathered gulls that will ravage travelers if they happen to step over any of the thousands of dots on the plane that they've covered in snow. Attentive investigators (or clumsy fools) will notice that the small piles of snow hide areas where the birds carved small holes to bury their dead.

51-70 Yuri's mausoleum. Wait, that's a natural feature? What's known as "Yuri's Mausoleum" is actually a great mountain whose surroundings are completely forbidden; any onlookers who get too close are quickly escorted away or worse. Nobody can tell you the origin of the name or even when the security detail showed up.

71-91 A big fucking hand, stretching out as if to grasp at the air, but caught at the wrist by impenetrable glassy ice. If you look down in the general vicinity, you'll see the haunted eyes of a primordial being through the ground, and it will beg you to let it free. If you don't leave, you'll start to sink in the ice, and it really is impenetrable.

91-100 whatever you can come up with.
>>
>>72297356
shit, I meant 71-90
>>
Reptoids need to eat meat/fish. Which is fine, seeing as there's not really an alternative due to all the ice making vegetables pretty rare. However:

1-15 a cult of ascetics have sworn off hunting/fishing and worship a god that feeds them? Somehow? They won't tell anyone how, and so they don't get too many new members, but their group grows... as it does, the annoying town crier is getting fatter and fatter. And the high command is straight-up obese.

16-30 the game in recent weeks has sharply deteriorated in quality (local phenomenon, regional, global, your pick). This morning, the inn apologized profusely for not being able to serve breakfast. As it turns out, their stores are nothing but ash, even the haul from just last night. Anything that dies instantly crumbles, and nobody knows why... except: (take this wherever you want, or nix it, or whatever)

31-45 the people of Iceball have a long-standing tradition of encasing meat in ice. Like, literally encasing it, melting to water and then refreezing it around the thing. They claim it improves the flavor? But visitors have to take their word for it, as "local" ice seems to work only for local folk. Until one day, an alchemist perfects Flavor-Ize (or whatever dumbfuck name you want), which makes any ice local. Traditionalist reptoids are not happy.

46-60 the meat&fish around here sucks, and nobody wants to eat it. The people of Iceball are miserable and only eat when necessary. Beasts, on the other hand, can't get enough of it. For some reason, Fun City's sentient population wakes up one day and loves the taste of what they hated yesterday, and even though nobody's complaining, nobody knows why.

61-75 horrible "food droughts" happen every so often, where game and fish up and disappear. It's more or less predictable, though, and everybody's made sure to store enough to last through this most recent drought... until it doesn't end when it's supposed to.

76+ nothing's wrong autist, food's fine/whatever you want
>>
I just like writing tables and I feel weird rolling on my own stuff in this context, so hopefully I'm not getting too annoying by posting another one. I can't keep this thread alive by myself, faggots, join in.

Even though Yuri has a scary reputation, someone worse is still in recent memory. Who are they? How'd they die?

They were...
1-10 a fallen member of royalty obsessed with cracking the planet in two.
11-20 a Megawalrus with tusks lined in Laen, who communicated through an interpreter.
21-30 a shifting mass of snow with a human face. She never spoke, just drifted through wherever she wanted, no matter who was in her way.
31-40 Vorladune, an amorphous mist with yellow eyes and forked tongue whose true body remained carefully hidden until it wasn't.
41-50 Illivarius, a firey lich who promised his followers warmth as long as they carried out his destructive bidding.
51-60 Jordanas, the cruel captain of a magical icebreaker, who executed raids on the most fortified cities with his fleet of horror.
61-70 Danistrand, a foul regent of a particularly unsuitable part of the wasteland, with a propensity for raising the dead as skeletons. And adding to his collection by setting the horde on more civilized lands.
71-80 Bitterwing, the Submerged Dragon, who made a habit of bursting through from underneath the ice to capture her prey.
81-90 Koldoroth, a big snowman who shouted his name as loud as he could whenever he could. Eardrum-shattering.

And met their end by...
1-20 an extensive war which drained the resources of whichever city helmed the affair.
21-40 a lucky shot from a single man.
41-60 accident.
61-80 their own undoing.
81-90 nobody. They just disappeared.

Obviously you can change names however you like, and anything else, really.

Have some mad lib style worldbuilding y'all. I'd like this to keep going so Ice Spidergod is gonna be an evil bastard towards___ because of an incident involving ___ where his ___ was ____.

He had a fit of anger and rage over it that nearly ruined his reputation. He convinced everyone that he got over it. He didn't and periodically takes some form of spiteful revenge on the (first blank space), but he makes sure that his revenge cannot be traced to him. Through an ancient technology the means of which have been long forgotten the most vital parts of the city's infrastructure, particularly its defense, are connected by an intricate portal matrix that ensures that anyone with the right clearance can move to every strategically important point around Fun City in a matter of seconds. Unfortunately the overuse of these portals, having been destabilized over centuries of wanton unmaintained use, causes one to "blur" and find themselves occasionally passing through things.

Any overuser will find their three-dimensional integrity fading the more they use it, and a seriously reckless user of the portals will find themselves spectating the world around them, waiting days until they can finally interact with objects. And when this wears off they will be so deprived of tactile sense that the mere feel of one's own clothes will be overwhelming to them.

This, however does not apply to the subtle interdimensionally unstable zones held in vast, guarded chambers beneath the citadel, lined with layers upon layers of inpenetrable metal. Trade conducted by the highest and most secretive members of society goes on here, and the goods gleaned are never shown to the public.
