What are some creatures one might see in an exotic pet store in a fantasy setting? Stuff like pseudodragons, winged cats, shock lizards, etc.

Anyone got that picture of those mini monster girls in plastic containers? Like the kind you get from coin operated vending machines.

It wasn't from a pet store but I did have a merchant specializing in exotic and illicit goods selling this in a game of Rogue Trader.

The players never bought it
>what was in it?
I forget if I ever decided, and I know this sounds like a cop out but I think the mystery in this case is more exciting than the answer. Some sort of reptile though probably, the trick would have been coming up with a good aesthetic for it that wasn't too fantasy for the space game.

Magic familiar macaw. It's like a regular macaw parrot, only much smarter, has a limited capacity for actual speech and conversation, slightly augments your magical capabilities and very loyal to its mage. Benevolent creature, but likes the occasional chaos and enjoys playing fucked up pranks on people it likes. What do.

I personally like to grab the chart of animal companions, familiars and improved familiars from Pathfinder to help fill in space in places like pet stores. then toss in a few unique things often based on images i find here on /tg/ like the corgidiles above, owl griffins, or landshark puppies

>Mister Trashbags
In a little suburb, a Jimmy has an imaginary friend. Adults find that adorable, but other kids knows that it is dangerous to cross Jimmy. His imaginary friend is a tiny Shoggoth, undeveloped in his toychest, that Jimmy's explorer father brought back frozen from Antartica. It is weak in will and power, but still strong enough. The PC plays kids trying to save their teacher, a friend, or maybe the whole neighborhood if the shoggoth escapes.

It's akin to the real life stories of many "exotic" animals.
Some lucky ones get rescued and are either reinstated into the wild or live the rest of their lives being taken care of, but most just dfe due to the abuse . .
Shit sucks..

I'm conflicted.
I love the fluff dragon, but I'm not sure if I'd want it to be a pet, since that implies animal level intelligence.
As for the thread, flying noodles are cool.

>Illusory Hamster

>have to sign papers at the pet shop that you won't sue them for it being not a real hamster
>>
Animal spirits trapped in automata would be interesting. On one hand you get a pet with none of the hassle of feeding, excretion and aging. On the other you have to wonder who is doing this and why, as well as if it's actually humane

>customer walks into shop with empty cage
C: I wish to complain about this hamster what I purchased not half an hour ago from this very boutique.

O: Oh yes, the, uh, the Waterdeep Illusory...What's,uh...What's wrong with it?

C: I'll tell you what's wrong with it, my lad. 'E's not dere, that's what's wrong with it!

O: No, no, 'e's uh,...he's invisible.

Look, matey, I know a non existant hamster when I see one, and I'm looking at one right now.

O: No no he's not nonexistant, he's, he's invisible! Remarkable rodent, the Waterdeep Illusory, idn'it, ay? Beautiful fur!

C: The fur don't enter into it. It ain't there!

O: Nononono, no, no! 'E's invisible!

C: All right then, if he's invisible, I'll make him appear! (shouting at the cage) 'Ello, Mister Hamtaro! I've got a lovely fresh seeds for you if you show...(owner casts minor illusion to make a squeaking noise)

O: There, he squeaked!

C: No, he didn't, that was you casting spells!

O: I never!!

C: Yes, you did!

O: I never, never did anything...

What if it’s the opposite? A regular hamster but you can’t touch or grab it because it’s illusory. It does normal hamster things but evolved to not be preyed upon by being basically a hologram?
