your party brought peace to the apocalyptic wastes. what now?
It's now a civilization builder game.
Everyone gets a gun
>>73604240Go check Cascadia Railroad by Nick Bennett. It's pretty much about it. Comfy as fuck.
>>73604240We live peacefully and prosperously in our comfy as fuck valley until some dickass empire forms somewhere out there in the wastes and comes in and stages a coup.
>>73604240Put up a sign outside the village that says "Partytown".
>>73604240Now begins the harder task of keeping the peace and rebuilding.
>>73604240Now you must keep the peace while a growing population tries to rebuild with far,far less than their predecessors did.
It is not enough to merely win the war. We must win the peace, as well. Wounds must be healed, and that which is damaged made whole once more.Infrastructure must be built, trade encouraged, and the people assured that this isn't a momentary calm before a renewed conflict.
>>73604240Create a vast farming colony powered by domesticated irradiated animals and zombies on giant hamster wheels. Possibly figure out a zombie-based mail/delivery system. Also we'll get drunk every night.
>idiots treating this situation like some sort of end of war scenarioAnd it was such a promissing thread>>73604244>>73604272Those guys get it
civil war time!
>>73604950> your party brought peace to the apocalyptic wastes> brought peace> idiots treating this situation like some sort of end of war scenarioEh.What about your contributions?
>>73605039Read the OP once more, cunt. Then tell me how your "end of war" applies and how I need to contribute to call you stupid piece of shit
>>73605135Why don't you try to explain it to us uneducated peasants? Clean your mouth first though, you got shit all over it.
We fuck like men.
>>73605230If you are too dense to not get OP, there is nothing to explain, because your reading comprehension is non-existing.Stay mad, stay wrong, but on different board
>>73604240We bring war
>>73604240I roll to rape the peace
>>73605263Imagine getting this assmad because nobody can understand your barely coherent attempts at a sentence
>>73606300>>73606232>>73605259>>73605263i remember when this board could actually have decent discussion.
>>73606260I think what the autist is saying is that being peace to an apocalyptic setting isn't like ending a war and going home to a status quo, but actually pacifying a bunch of gangs and essentially conquering the wastes. The raiders were the status quo, and now the party must make something new.
>>73606318That never happened
Long ago the seas rose and cities were engulfed in nuclear fire.A few survivors picked over the ruins for scraps, gangs fought for cans of gas, tins of soup and bicycle wheels. Some settled down and started to till the land. Their camps became villages. They began cobbling together scrap into new items. When their old guns wore out new ones were made from old pipes and springs. New buildings were made, first from scraps of older ones and latter from new bricks and timber. Some villages failed, others fell to attack, others grew into towns. As generations pass, items made in town workshops get less ramshackle, neater and of higher quality.Merchants wander from town to town selling wares.Towns and villages form alliances. Leadership has gone from the The Gang's leader who fights to the top to local dynasties, town councils and then to courts with kings, elected assemblies their bureaucracies.Regular patrols drive back bandits. Some towns prosper and become cities.Workshops grow into cottage industry, then into factories.People experiment with things in old textbooks.Generators are made and provide power.Steam cars, boats and trains roll along a growing network of restored roads and railways.Eventually someone makes a solar panel in a lab. Not long after they are made in factories.Prosperity rises. The Apocalypse is Over.
>>73606362I'm inclined to agree, bringing peace to a place with no solid leadership or distinct boarders to return to only creates a power vacuum that you've likely filled yourself
>>73606829Except there's no mineral resources left where they can be accessed by a resurgent technological base. The apocalypse happens, we're stumbling back to the stone age.
>>73609384Well except all the scrapyards, parking garages, wiring, rebar in concrete, defunct mines that may still be eventuslly accessible. Its there, its just in a shittier state.
>>73609913Yes but it's nigh-impossible to bootstrap a space age society and will inevitably run out. Either we get into space in the next couple of decades or we never do. Personally, I'm not optimistic.
>>73606829This is very beautiful. Both pic and text. Thank you.
>>73606362We will never know. He's been consumed by a whirpool of assmadness without being able to explain himself.Yours is a nice interpretation though.
>>73609947Compared to the Cold War epoch our era is rather peaceful, I don`t think that we are going to nuke us in the next couple of decades. Even at its worst, China and the US has a better relationship than they had with the UDSSR. And Russia isn`t planning to unleash nuclear apocalypse.
>>73612126The threat of collapse isn't war, but running out of resources before we get asteroid mining.
>>73609947True, it seems unlikely. Though who knows that's half the fun.
>>73604240Turns out they brought peace to a bunch of child raping cannibals and they realize there was a reason the apocalyptic wastes were apocalyptic wastes. Thus begins the purge.
Free ice cream for everyone
>>73604240We must rebuild. But who will lead us in the rebuilding process? Not me & KG, we don't have the cognitive capacity to lead.
>>73604240We conclude the campaign and agree to start a new one in a few weeks. The new campaign is set in a world reborn from a post apocalypse.
>>73606829As prosperity rises, factories begin belching pollution into the air. Some grow wealthy and others exist in deep poverty. Kingdoms go to war over resources, ideology, and power. Weapons become more sophisticated. At some point everything reaches a point of no return. The wheel turns.
>>73604240Start a new apocalypse so that we can rule the post-post apocalypse
Create an agrarian society, and at the same time totally destroy all old technology when we find it. Natural resources will already be out of reach. Society must never rebuild to industrial times. That was folly. We must remain hunters, gatherers, farmers, ranchers, and artisans until the end of time. We will also create "museums" of the destruction and devastation of war. Both the thermonuclear war and of recent local warlord violence. Teach the people to be disgusted by violence. Try to build libraries and schools, teach people to read and write. Teach children an understanding and appreciation of the world around them, but not for technological purposes. Create a religion based around peace and unity, and proliferate it.We finally have a second chance to get it right this time. Let's do our best, with both humility and conviction.
>>73618194>Goes back to stone-age>Asteroid blows up planet>Goes back to stone-age>Alien race enslaves human race and then blows up planet>Goes back to stone-age>People forget why we went back to stone-age and create technology again.>Goes back to stone-age>The pressure to compete for status and wealth causes some human groups to initiate an arms race that inevitably causes technology to develop again>Goes back to stone-age>The only way technology can be stopped is by a powerful group that understands what technology is and is capable of over-powering all other groups thus leading inevitably to technology once again.>Goes back to stone-age>The problem wasn't technology but us all alongThree options:1. technology isn't really the issue2. It is, but the struggle against it is hopeless and humanity is doomed to cycles of pro and anti-technology.3. Technology in general isn't the issue, but rather a certain scale of technology (large-scale industrial tech), but this scale is relative to the development of human culture. Culture lags behind technology and occasionally technology collapses allowing culture to catch up once again. Technology is toxic to humanity when it has not yet been personalized to the human being and "tamed" via collective mythology. When it exists in the untamed state, it is like a Moloch and has "demonic" powers. it acts of its own accord and has an antagonistic relationship to the human species as a whole.the anti-tech fags have no practical argument. non-tech is always crushed by tech. tech must be used to alleviate the effects of bad tech. tech must be perfected to eliminate bad tech as much as possible, and keep it from falling into the wrong hands. what else can be done realistically?
>>73604240Retire. We won. That's it, man. Game over, man, game over.
>>73618194>at the same time totally destroy all old technology when we find it.Good luck fighting the Pnemato tribals, their flamethrowers and dart launchers will make glittering mockery of your greatest beastriders and strongmen.Good luck pushing back the Gear-grinders once their population advantage sets in; they'll plow, harvest, grind and irrigate more in a day than you can in a month.>Teach the people to be disgusted by violence. You are fated to run up against human nature. Ever Anti-war story inevitably encapsulates it's own pro-war message. "Wow, look how cool it is, such power, such excitement. I want it."The children of this tribe will curse their elders for not teaching them what machine secrets they knew.

>>73604240Shatter along ideological lines. Bring apocalypse to the peaceful wastes. This will be the war to end all wars. Ignore the one we just finished with that same slogan.
>>73619129Peace has been restored, guy. Not some tenuous ceasefire. The people are looking to you for leadership. The gasoline for the flamethrowers are poured in the hole and set aflame. The gears are dropped in the ocean. Everyone is tired of fighting.
>>73618607This anon made the arguments. Not enough tech to extract the remaining resources.>>73609947>>73609384Your third option is the most likely. But it will take tens of thousands of years, maybe more if the culture stands strong enough. It would help to make mineral resources scarcer. Light the coal mines and oil wells on fire to burn eternally, and ward off future generations. Find and harvest all the tin we can and drop it in the sea. Make the religion that all tin should be treated as such, that should buy us a few centuries to clear it out at the least. Steel and steam are going to be harder to make.Maybe eventually everything can truly start from scratch. Maybe not. Everything ends but we can make peace last a long long time.

Why the fuck do you think I struggled to live through the Old War, why the fuck do you think I fought and fought and fought? Because I wanted me and my descendants to play in the mud for the rest of time?NO! Because I was the best at fucking people up, I was so good at war I fucked up all the other fuckers who were damn good at it too! I spent my childhood dreaming of the stars and instead watched everything and everyone I love burn in nuclear fire. I did not spend the best years of my life conquering cargo-cult tribals just so you could break the few treasures left and spend the rest of time picking berries, eating roots and playing at some kind of Pagan Unquisition every time a fella tries to invent the fucking water-wheel to grind your fucking corn a little easier just so his children have better than a coinflip at seeing their tenth birthday!Go to hell you ungrateful pack of witch-doctors, go ahead and demonize the technology, it was never the machines that destroyed, it was men who wanted to do it, it was all of you! I invite you to try and educate that evil out of men, I'm sure they'll be all ears once winter sets in and half of you can't chop enough wood to heat your hovels. I'm out, Bugger your plan.Maybe I'll even come back some day, and we can compare work. Maybe.
>>73620222Ok good luck out there! The wastes are pretty big (almost seems like they go on forever) and all the tribes, or I guess communities now, are on board with this. What with peace having been categorically and unambiguously restored. But when you get hungry you can come back and lend a hand on the farm for some food.

>>73622994he isn't quite anprim level neanderthal just yet, just an extreme ludditealso 98 percent is way too low, that still leaves 140,000,000 people on earth as hunter gatherers, far too many to be sustainable
>>73623053Point is, since the world going anprim would starve most of humanity, statistically including you, this makes anprims a demonstrable threat to your life, therefore shooting them on sight is self-defense.

>>73622390>peace has been restoredEither through surrender or defeat. Hostile factions no longer exist.
>>73622774The modern way killed far more people in the great war and apocalypse to follow than dysentery ever could. And yes we kill people who kill others. Self defense is perfectly fine.
>>73623065No anprim. Agriculture, animal husbandry, ships and carts and grist mills and logging are fine. This way of life is FAR safer and more sustainable than the roving gangs and warlords of the wasteland. Those people were literally hunter scavengers. You guys act like I'm trying to reduce civilization to this agrarian society. In OP's scenario, civilization has already ended. I'd be shocked if even 7 million have survived violent, desperate irradiated wastelands for this long, not to mention the preceding catastrophe.
>>73627538You are preventing it from rebuilding. Same problem.
>>73628716I am actively rebuilding. There are no farms or ranges, mills or towns, fisheries or quarries. And being regarded as a killer by not saving enough people than you think we maybe could millenia from now? History is not on your side.
>>73631257>>73631480You seem to think I'm against society. I'd call my system Luddite Jeffersonianism.
>>73632046Also I'm not even starving anyone. Population would simply not grow as much as it had. Do you think creating a situation where people could have been born but aren't is murder?
