What is Gloria-Etalia? It is a setting which sprung up into existence when OP gave /tg/ an Empty map and people doodled things onto it. The world of Gloria-Etalia is one in the phase of the post-post-apocalypse where remnants of the once great civilizations remain like wandering cities of mimics or missile silos considered to be pyramids, but most of the ancient technology has decayed beyond recognition and barbarians control the world. Still the world is far from a dead ruin. It is a world full of nations interacting with each other, and the people interacting in turn.

Which two nations hate each other the most?
What is one sentence of new lore for a nation?
Does Westerasi have the olympics? Are other nations invited to play? Who is excluded?
You are about to enter a gygaxian dungeon by yourself with basic equipment. You can pick one person from any nation to go with you. Who do you pick and why?

> MEGA with Files
https://mega.nz/folder/7lYHkCCT#6JSP9fyLw_zPwRyFdpCmDA.

> Picture Standardisation
Pick whatever image you want for your nation, use your image editing software of your preference to make it 500x500 (it's much easier to work with squares, trust me)
Then go to lunapic.com, upload the 500x500 image, go to the tab 'art', select the effect 'fairy' and post the result on the thread.

The map with nice tonal colors. Well, compared to the normal map.

>Does Westerasi have the olympics? Are other nations invited to play? Who is excluded?
I made reference to an "Annual Westrasi Sea Grand Tourney" in one of the Vashian Republic Recent Events. I imagine it works a bit like the Olympics.
>>
>>74494072
>Which two nations hate each other the most?
Probably Belara and Morloux

>What is one sentence of new lore for a nation?
I got nothing for this one

>Does Westerasi have the olympics? Are other nations invited to play? Who is excluded?
Sure, why not? It's more medieval activities than the modern Olympics, including things like jousting and a melee pit. But it also has foot runners, the javelin event, things like that. Everyone can come, except for the tribal states.

>You are about to enter a gygaxian dungeon by yourself with basic equipment. You can pick one person from any nation to go with you. Who do you pick and why?
I bring a lichlord from the necroswampers, because he can do dope magic.

I suport this if it's Westrasi -Sea Tourney- instead of Westrasi Sea -Tourney-. Mock ship battles between Westrasi nations, roman style
>>
>Which two nations hate each other the most?
Saramese and Bertranox maybe.
>What is one sentence of new lore for a nation?
Araxian man have a reputation for having huge testicles. It's a running joke across the Westrasi sea. Reality is sadly that they are boringly average to Westrasi ethinicity
Does Westerasi have the olympics? Are other nations invited to play? Who is excluded?
If Bertranox shows up, Saramese don't participate. They refuse to recognize them as country

Which of these nation's is most like Brazil?
>>
>>74495512
Reposting so it doesn't get lost becuase that comment wasn't archived. Looks great anon! I'm currently writing up the Araxian Kingdom properly, and this is a great addition.

>Araxian Touring Bull
A yearly festival where each province/locality of Araxia sends a highly decorated Running Bull and rider, to ride as a procession and visit every province in Araxia. Each year a different border province gets chosen to be the starting point of the procession, and the destination is always the capital, where the bulls are presented to the royal family. The Touring Bull festival is a chance for a province to promote business with other provinces, and maybe even other nations, for delegates and diplomats are traditionally invited to watch the procession.
The festival used to be common among Araxia's neighbors as well, but over time one by one dropped it for their own reasons.

>>74495649
None of them I don't think. DESU, I don't know much about the country except the monkeys are bastards and there is a lot of people living there.
>>
>>74495720
Plenty of impoverished people living next to highly endemic species. Crowded infrastructure, plenty of people per meters squared compared to most countries. Lots and lots of corrugated metal for roofs and a lot of old machinery is jury rigged to work. A lot like most third world's.
>>
>>74494072
>Does Westerasi have the olympics? Are other nations invited to play? Who is excluded?
The Olympics requires a lot of international cooperation which probably doesn't exist at this point. Even in the Westrasi Sea region, half of the games would end up cancelled due to the participant nations warring with each other.
>>
I've been working on the Araxian Kingdom and giving them a proper nation, and it has been going wonderfully. The lore just keeps spilling out. I'm not done yet and it's late but I want to bump the thread, so here is a snippit that I put in the Leixi-Airoxian Commonwealth's dip section.

"They have a tentative trading relationship with the Araxian Kingdom. Offers for a military alliance has been presented by the Araxians, but have been declined as it would be exploited to fuel the Araxian's barbaric love for violence and conquest."

>>74495793
Hmm, IDK. It's the middle ages so there is a very low population density. The last part about the machinery could be the Tecnobarbarians. I think that the most crowded part of the world is the Free City of Bretanox, so maybe them?
>>
>>74494072

>What is one sentence of new lore for a nation?
Beastmen make for poor housepets.
>Does Westerasi have the olympics? Are other nations invited to play? Who is excluded?
They do, many western nations participate, non-humans do not participate.

In belara etiquette demands nobles to have atleast one glow at all times, so to be always ready to challenge other noble to honor duel, in case of disrespect. Challenge is given by hitting rival in the face with glove(one they had on hand).
>Does Westerasi have the olympics? Are other nations invited to play? Who is excluded?
I think its less of olimpics and more of local turnaments that are mostly kingdom wide, not international.
>You are about to enter a gygaxian dungeon by yourself with basic equipment. You can pick one person from any nation to go with you. Who do you pick and why?
One Grave Saint from Radmir. Sentient undead that has centuries of training, superhuman strength and endurance, and weapons so devastating that they are to heavy to use by most mortals, all clad in plate armor so bulky its almost power armor... Yeah that would do, if not him id go with one of liches.

>Balthazar the Enlightened
This lichlord even during his life was one of most briliant Alchemists in Republic of Morloux, and maybe even on whole planet. He was first to recreate (albeit in inperfect state) material making up armor of stone giants, and that alone made him famous. But as he grew older he wanted to focus on ways to extend his life, but because of militarization of Alchemists in Republic, he was forced to search knowlege abroad.
He crossed ocean searching for knowlege, and traveled everywhere from Qu-Fi throught Radmir to Ecilev, and it was there when he learned of Dead Alchemy Society. This illlegal organization was made up of greatest minds in all of Midlans, Eastasia, Rams Head, and was recruiting as far as celestial empire. He joined it, at first disqusted at thought of working with undead, but due to his death coming closer, he accepted their company, and quickly rose throught alchemist side of organization. When he was offered seat in the councill as Royal Alchemist he declined, deciding to instead focus on learning dark arts. After centuries of training he was offered seat on the council, but not only as representative of one of two organizations within, but as head of council. He agreed, understanding that accepting this would allow him to become lich, and stop worring about immortality.
Since then he menaged to bring stability to society, at the cost of his own personal achievements. Politicking bores him more and more, but he knows he can't just return to times before he became head of organization.

I already posted this on wiki, also, on wiki there was Sandro picture with wrong name, i fixed and put it back near him

>Dead Alchemy Society
Secret organization uniting powerfull dark mages and alchemists. Its separated into two sides: Kings Alchemists, and Queens Mages, best of both parties form council of 13 members, counting Lich Lord thats role is to unite them in goals. Symbol of Dead Alchemy Society is two stright lines going vertically throught circle, and it represents alchemic reaction needed to create simplest poisons

So we can't have people flinging fireballs because that would be making magic too banal but we have a whole nation of megaliches and another with superhuman undead?

Good point. I saw a place called Windhell Valley, which I am going to presume is very windy. I'd like it if the snakes could compress their bodies down a little to make themselves better able to ride on wind currents. I once saw a Youtube video of a snake slithering around on an air current low key gliding like this and it was fucking terrifying. I also think it would be neat if they used their ability of speech to lure in victims. You hear someone faintly calling for help over the wind and it just turns out to be a fucking snake.

I don't want to shoehorn in on someone else's critter. Especially if they've already hit most of the points I was going to. Might just go back to the original premise and spin them off in a different region.

Since the flying asshole snake thing is already covered, maybe make them almost obnoxiously friendly and curious. Just slither up on some poor guy working a field or trying to read a book under a tree and start peppering them with questions. Don't make them too smart, maybe the intelligence of an eight year old or something so they're still animalistic. Is there a region where something with these characteristics would fit in?

The Treant Empire, Sisilian Citystates and some others have a lot of nature/fey type magic, should probably be included as a different color with a source in the Treant Empire, particularly if we are treating the different colors as different types of magic.

A lot of weird stuff happens in Tautoburg, probably should be one or more leylines from the wyrd passing through there.

Note there used to be an eastern Mollusc reef in the Eatralia-Northedge gulf before it was killed off by human overfishing and population growth.

Looks good.

Any chance you could nudge that one red line a bit east so it passes through the Sisilian Citystates and Tautoburg?

In terms of types of magic, I am thinking red/purple is wild/nature/fey themed, black is dark, yellow is wild/shamanistic, and blue is fey/weird/metaphysics bending, though in actual fact, magic also varies a lot based on different schools of practice and cultural traditions regardless of where it is taken from.

Maybe each time lines converge new kinds of magic are born, while orginal "theme" gets more and more urecognizable. Places where more than two lines converge should be prized by mages worldwide (if ofcourse they find them, becasue some places of such power are hidden like yugr).
It would allow for greater frexibility when adopting this world to different systems of casting/magic.
Also i fixed one of bluelines to go throught sitans and tautoburg, changing red ones would need too much work, and probably demand redoing the map.

GIGANTIC OGRE LORE DROP

General
Ogres are one of the many races that inhabit the Marshes of Drache. Ogres stand between 8' to 10' feet tall. They span from many shades of green, with the occasional ashen black and gray. Ogres live to 120, the oldest one living up to 140. They have large underbites with large canines that stick out of the mouth, pointed ears and a boar's snout. All ogres have a strongman's physique, bar their large pot belly.
From their appearance many would think that Ogres are related to goblins, hob goblins or trolls. However the smartest and wisest of ogres would detest that notion, believing that the origin of ogres came from The World Scar.
In combat Ogres use their strength, bites and clubs to overpower an enemy. They have thick skin that reduces the penetrative force of blades and arrows, paired with a minor regenerative ability, although nowhere near as strong as trolls. On top of all that, ogres have an affinity for magic.
Ogres can absorb the magical essence of the things they eat, and their nose can smell out and breathe in magic, leading them to places wherever the magic is thickest. Ogres store magic in their bellies, their bellies harden more as they continue to absorb magic. Their magic comes out in a variety of manners, depending on the type of magic they have absorbed.

I'd go with something a little more vague than that, otherwise we'd need to introduce cases of each specific school of magic across each sort of line. Maybe...

>Black
Permanence. This sort of magic revolves around preservation no matter the cost, maintaining the 'cohesion' of its subject until the end of time. Typically this means necromancy, but there are other possibilities. Consider the eternal storm of the Windhell Valley, which is right over one of these lines.
>Purple
Growth. This magic is a force of creation and multiplication. It can create something from nothing, and it can create many from one. In the case of the druidism of the treants, it's used for proliferating flora, though this sort of magic could also be used to conjure objects or entities.
>Yellow
Destruction. Though the World Scar is an example of how destruction can end in oblivion, this isn't always the case. Consider the mountains that the lines of destruction run across, which could have their roots in the same cataclysm that caused the World Scar. Destruction can be another word for transformation, albeit a violent kind.
>Blue
Change. The Wyrdlands are an example of this, as even time itself isn't stable in that region. This type of magic is not about the transformation of something from one state to another, but rather a lack of stability. Under the influence of change, mind and matter alike become fluid and chaotic.
>Red
Structure. This magic builds on top of the foundation that already exists. The tireless labor of the mollusks transformed the world's devastated environment into something clean, that could allow life to flourish. The foul weather of the Storm Islands were woven into a powerful barrier. The magic of structure takes something that already exists and not only controls it, but improves it.

It's a little bit nebulous but considering we're aiming for system-neutrality, that might be for the best.

>>74508674
Subraces
Ogres that absorb an abundance of one type of magic permanently change their form and mental wiring, as well as increasing their affinity towards that type of magic.
Necrotic Ogres
Necrotic ogres are ogres that have absorbed a great deal of dark magic, reminiscent of the Necroswampers. These ogres become pitch black and grow a crown of horns around their head. The touch of these ogres are feared as they can flay skin and flesh away from bone. Necrotic ogres are the most populous subrace of ogres in the Marshes of Drache.
The clubs of these ogres are all made from bone. It need not be a large bone, as necrotic ogres are capable of using their magic to make bones grow, skrink and take new shapes. Each club is a personalized work of art to the ogre, as they reform these clubs to suit their needs.
Arcane Ogres
Arcane ogres are ogres that have absorbed the magic that pours out of The World Scar. They are commonly found closer to the mountains that surround the Marshes of Drache, some make pilgrimage to The World Scar. These Ogres are the smartest and wisest of all ogres, as the magic they absorbed came with knowledge. Arcane ogres have stony gray skin and have eyes that glow a variety of different colors. They can shoot beams of raw magic that can tear holes through flesh and bone. Their clubs grow to the length of staves and can cast simple spells through them.

>>74508692
Fey Ogres
Fey ogres are the rarest kinds of ogres. They live closest to the Vassal Kingdoms of Treants, but stay within the Marshes of Drache. The skin of these ogres vary from vibrant greens to yellows and reds, reflecting the colors of leaves in and out of season. Fey Ogres also have what can be described as bark growing on their skin, and occasionally have living vines or orchids live on them. Their fey magic allows them to impose their will on the nature surrounding them. Grass knots and roots somehow find their way to the feet of their enemies, and any non sapient animal comes to their aid.
Baseline Ogres
Magic of baseline ogres are manifested on places where they strike. Dark magic can cause metals to rust, wood to decay and flesh to rot. Arcane magic either causes pure magic blasts or their strikes are augmented by a random element (most of the time it's fire). Fey magic releases spores or poison that can cause an array of debilitating health problems.
(3/4)
>>
>>74508709
Society
Ogres tend to be solitary, aside when mating where they use calls to locate each other. Arcane ogres are the exception, seeking out each other to pursue intellectual discoveries, philosophical debates and magical experimentation. Arcane ogres are also the only ones who try to record their accumulated knowledge and history to relay it to any who is willing to listen. Still none of them build homes, many taking refuge in caves or any place that can shelter them. All ogres still hunt and harvest fruits wherever they can.

History
The recorded history of the Ogres is heavily biased and lacks any real evidence to support their claims.
>be ogre
>born from world scar
>magically gifted as all ogres are
>travel east to midland
>create empire
>empire brought all the races together
>empire is always led by ogre
>other empires jealous, their empire worse than ours
>ogre empire best empire so jealousy is expected
>other empires create unrest using other races in midland
>ogres don't catch this as ogres too busy being great
>ourhubrisisourfolly.manuscript
>empire collapses
>ogres scattered throughout midland
>ogres lose their magic powers
>have to resort to absorbing magic
>mfw pic related
>this leads to modern ogres

Religion
Arcane ogres have popularised a religion of praying to their ancestors for greater magical aptitude. The mythos ties to their history as pre-fall ogres are considered to be incredibly magically gifted, and ritualistic prayers allow them to attain a small portion of power. Again as this religion has ties to the heavily biased recorded history of ogres so who knows if their prayers are actually reaching to an ancestor or another deity.

Nation
The Kingdom of Araxia is a feudal monarchy. The population ethnicity mix is 89% Araxian Westrasi, 7% Yoroi Westrai, 3% Sarcian Westrasi, .5% Dryad, and .5% Goblin.

The kingdom is broken down into four duchies, which is broken down again into counties. The four duchies are the Crownland, Burksland, Geffenshire, and Dunsland. The Crownland is controlled by the King personally, and covers most of the shoreline and the river Tarkos. The capitol is located on the river, and is called Bullsworth. Burksland is controlled by the king’s cousin Ikarna Ribbsworth, a belligerent and brash woman who was gifted the province after the previous Duke, Yerki Hert, was found embezzling the king’s taxes for his own personal gain. Burksland covers the rest of the river and most of the region bordering the Sarcian Mountain Tribes. Geffenshire is controlled by the House of Jaspire, and covers the southern border of the kingdom. Burksland is controlled by the House of Burken, and covers the northern border against the Leixi-Airoxian Commonwealth.

The current king is Alfred III Ribbsworth, who ascended the throne in the year 4982 after his uncle stepped down from regency when he turned 16. He is currently 38 years old, has a wife and three children. While Alfred is a kind man, he is very prideful and a poor diplomat. He has a slight speech impediment, but anyone who comments on it within earshot of the king often gets decked. He is short at 5’4’’ and stocky, with short brown hair, green eyes and a tough complexion. His queen, Elika Ribbsworth is 30 years old and is a Euraxian Princess, who married the king to cement a lucrative trade deal to potentially curb the Farisian’s near monopoly on the eastern side of the Weatrasi Sea. While not particularly prideful or brave, she is a clever diplomat and often handles the sensitive political situations that the nation faces. She is tall at 5’11’’ for a westrasian, with braided blonde hair, blue eyes, and a warming complexion. Their first born son is Herb III Ribbsworth, 15, and is seen as a disappointment to the royal crown. Instead of enjoying the finer things in life like bull riding, fighting, or even strategizing, he instead prefers to dress up in the most pompous clothes and travel around with the various theatre troupes that plague the countryside. While this behavior was attempted to be beaten out of him at a young age, the royal family has all but given up trying to make him into a proper man. While technically the crown prince, he has abdicated from rule in all but name, and that the crown will go to his younger brother on Alfred’s death. He has an average height at 5’6’’, with long blond hair, blue eyes, and a fair complexion. The younger children are the twins Giri VI and Pual Ribbsworth, and are 13. They are both prideful and headstrong, and constantly fight with each other and others for fun.
>>
>>74509045
While they are not the best bull riders just yet, the royal family is eager to get them in the saddle and learning. Giri is tall at 5’9’’, has short brown hair, and green eyes. Paul is shorter than Giri at 5’7’’, and has short brown hair with blue eyes. The king’s uncle Robert Ribbsworth is a statesman and a politician, who currently manages the funds from the crownlands. He believes that only with vast wealth will the Araxians be able to defeat their rivals the Farisians, and has spent most of his life working towards this goal. He even was the one to propose the marriage of the king and queen for an economic alliance instead of a military one. He is of an average height at 5’5’’, with black hair and green eyes, and a weathered face.

Because of a tragic training accident, the royal navy is by far the worst one on the Westerasi sea. It is made up of unretired, decrepit ships and repurposed merchant vessels.

Culture
Through the constant raids and skirmishes along the borders of the Yoroi Tribelands and the Sarcian Mountain Tribes, much of the Arixian political and social culture is centered around violence and militaristic thinking. Araxians are very prideful, and insults will often be met with rageful violence. Among the peasantry brawls are common and standing down from a challenge, no matter how small, is seen as very disgraceful.

Much of the culture of Araxia is based off of the Araxian Running Cow(citation needed). The most common use for these animals is for riding, as the bulls can run as nearly as fast as a horse. They have long, thick curved horns that go over and in front of their faces, which the bulls use to ram into their opponents after charging them. Owning a bull is seen as an important step for being a successful Araxian citizen. The majority of the population owns bulls, with the exception of city dwellers. They are groomed and well kept, but only the rich spend effort decorating their bulls.

Like horses, these bulls are also used for war. Riders are trained to charge enemy lines at fast speeds, using the bulls as mobile battering rams. Sometimes, these bulls are also used to break down keep doors, but only if the opportunity is right. They also have a love for heavy weapons and heavy armor. Once the lines are broken by the bull riders, Araxians charge in full plate and bash their way through the enemy. If there is one thing Araxians love more than the full force and stopping power of a charging bull, it is the full force and stopping power of a warhammer.

The most popular event in Araxia is the Bull Run, where two riders start a mile away and charge towards each other. They charge for a mile so that the bulls have sufficient time to pick up speed. They bulls then crash into each other in a fight for dominance, and the bareback riders have to try to not get thrown off. If they do get thrown off, they lose. If a bull falls, the rider of that bull loses. Bulls rarely crumple after the initial hit, and they will juke around each other, trying to charge the fleshy and easily breakable midsection and rear. The rider can also try to steer the bull to get a strategic position against the other rider for the bull to charge, but this might leave him and his bull exposed. Bulls often break bones clashing this way, and sometimes a riders leg might be struck too. The end of a Bull Run usually leaves a bull or their rider permanently damaged. These events bring in large crowds, and because of this riders make a lot of money. Even if permanently injured for life, and a smart rider can easily support themselves even after a short career.

The Araxian Bull Tour is a yearly festival where each province/locality of Araxia sends a highly decorated Running Bull and a rider, to ride as a procession and visit every province in Araxia. The festival used to be common among Araxia's neighbors as well, but over time was dropped for one reason or another.

There are a few unique sayings to the Araxian kingdom. The main one is “bull watch over you” which is used by old money nobles and aristocrats. It roughly translates to god watch over you, but also has the connotation that bulls will be there to help you in your journeys. A similar one to this is “great bull”. This has different meanings depending on what social class you are speaking with. For lower classes, it is akin to saying Jesus Christ as a swear. For the higher classes, it is invoking god as represented through the power of the bull. This is akin to lord have mercy. Boisterous is used as a term of endearment for a person, by relating their characteristics to that of the bull.

There is a postal service of the Araxian kingdom, referred to as the “charge”. The name comes from the speedy delivery of mail and a propaganda campaign from the crown stating that the royal word now "travels as fast as our bulls can charge!" The system is made up of bull riders delivering mail throughout the kingdom. This is mostly reserved for the upper classes, but charge houses can be found in most towns for those that can pay.

Araxian men have a reputation for having huge testicles. It's a running joke across the Westrasi sea. Reality is sadly that they are boringly average to Westrasi ethnicity.

Religion
Araixa worships Gloria-Etalia and the Church of Divine Duality. While their worship of the boar was thoroughly stomped out of them by the Verani Empire, boar imagery is often included in Gloria-Etalia worship.

Origin
The Araxian kingdom is one of the earliest Westrasi human kingdoms. Since antiquity barbarian tribes have lived along the river Tarkos. They hunted, raided, and worshiped the local cattle(citation needed) subspecies as sacred animals for their prowess in battle. It was not until the Verani Empire conquered the region and set to civilising the natives did the first trappings of the Araxian Kingdom formed. For two hundred years the Verani civilised the native barbarian population. They built towns and cities, and domesticated the Araxian Running Cow(citation needed) as a farm animal to the dismay of the Araxians. They taught the local barbarians how to be civilised, and they also taught them the glory of Gloria-Etalia, and The Church of Divine Duality was quickly established in the region. While the Araxians were not happy with being second class citizens under the boot of a distant empire, they adapted to their masters wishes and grew into a proper civilised state. When the empire first started to fall in 3800 the Araxians were one of the first to declare independence and quickly carved out their own territory with the re-establishment of the Araxian Running Cow as a war machine. This was done by the first sovegrn king of Araxia, Bunden Ribbsworth. Through his rule and conquests he established the Araxian Bull as the symbol of the nation and while worship of the beast was never revived, the bull became an international symbol for Araxia, with other nations referring to Araxians as “The Bulls”.
>>
>>74509117
Diplomacy
Araxians have a long history of conflict with the Sarcian Mountain Tribes in the east and the Yoroi Tribelands in the west.

They hold a respectful relationship with the Leixi-Airoxian Commonwealth after realising their military power, and have trade agreements with them. They seek an military alliance with the commonwealth, but the commonwealth is hesitant to join in as they realise that Araxians would exploit this alliance to take our conquer their enemies.

Araxia has a strong rivalry with the Farisian Republic. Border skirmishes are common, and proxy conflicts are fought through the Farisian’s employment of Yoroi mercenaries.

They hold a series of economic trade deals with the Euraxian Kingdom, which they leverage to decrease the soft power of their rivals the Farisians.

Because of the Vashian Republic’s help with the invasion of the Sarcian Mountain Tribes, several economic concessions have been made to them.

Araxians maintain friendly relationships to almost all of the other nations they are in contact with. While they still are prideful and want their way when negotiating, they see a lot less strategic value in fighting with nations that aren't their direct neighbors.

Geography
Most of Araxia is made up of flat plains. The river Tarkos runs through the kingdom to the sea, and it has been theorized that a ley line(citation needed) runs under the kingdom. Because of recent conquests in the Sarcian Mountain Tribes, to the west the land starts to get hilly and mountainous. There are also dense forests in the north-western part of the kingdom, which is currently inhabited by a small Dryad community.

Economy
Most of the nation's wealth comes from taxes and trade. Goods are traded with the Euraxians, and the Farisians primarily, but other nations are traded with as well.

Local officials were dispatched, and after some negotiations the land was announced to be their home, and logging was declared forbidden in the region. They were declared citizens, and they paid yearly taxes to the kingdom. No one but the crown knows where they came from or why they are there. The region is mostly avoided by humans.

5000 Herb III Ribbsworth gets kidnapped by bandits and is shipped out of the kingdom! The king is mad with grief, and he is debating whether to hunt the bandits down or not. Attacking someone holding your son hostage could end badly, but paying the ransom would be costly and would be a blow to his pride. The only lead is that the ships were reported to go north.

I suppose the Mai-xi population of ogres would be all baseline ogres with little to no magic as there aren't any ley lines close by. Maybe the occasional necrotic ogre.

I'll work on reworking the magical ogres based on the ley line descriptions. I'll definitely rework the magical blasts from destructive and remove the additional elemental feature from baseline ogres. I'll also tone down the magical capabilities of ogres in general.

Alright, done with the sharp map with features. I have a couple of questions for the thread:

>1
I've made the lines on rivers and mountains a bit thinner and I've made them more detailed, particularly the mouths of some of the rivers. Are you okay with this or should I maintain the look of the original map? I'm well aware I'm no artist.

>2
Other anons have already made more detailed maps of certain regions >>74500686 >>74502378 >>74466327 as well as all the additional lore and I'm not sure if I should start including all that and to what level detail. If so, what should I do with areas that haven't been detailed? Should I just add my own stuff so the level of detail is consistent or should I leave it as is? In this map, I've included the rivers in Radmir and the volcano on Cloud Island but I wanted to ask here first before I started adding more stuff.

As always, tell me if you spot something wrong with the map. Alternatively, you could make changes yourself, that's the whole reason I even made this.

Best shot for something like this would be ck3 since from what i heard they will go step further with map modding than imperator, so it can be a good one. But for now lets keep it on board and away from normies

This fighting style focused on really close combat, grapples and chokes, and dodging. Often called "Flexible style", it prioritize getting as close to your adversary as you can, barely leaving it any space to move and react at all, while you can strike without harm. Masters of this style can be mere millimiters from their targets and attack with a swift flurry of blows. It also has an emphasis to adapt your movements and positioning to the opponent.
It was created basing of fire style by traveling band of Belarian mercenaries and headhunters. They were disbanded long ago, but schools of this style can still be found around the westrasi.

Also i someone has fun idea for martial style just write it down, where it was founded, and if it its succesor style to one of previous ones, and il put on map.

The Sacred Heavenly Gardens of Celestia; This terraces are four tiers of large verdant areas surrounding the Imperial Spring Palace. A advanced system of water pumps and aqueducts means water flows from the higher tiers into the lower ones. Cherry trees, green leaf palms and over two thousand masterful sculptures spread across it. Legend says that during the Mythic reign of gold, the gardens rivers flowed with spiced ricewine rather than water.

The Castle of Balar, the original seat of power for the Belaran Empire was a massive complex the size of a small city, built directly into the side of the southern mountains. It’s size was awesome in of it self but it’s beautiful white marble exterior and it’s interior furnished with lavish gold and vibrant colours in extravegant designs, has influenced architecture in all of west Westrasi and modern Belarans still try to emulate it.
Most of it however is gone now. Much of it was destroyed in a massive siege during the civil war and as the capital of Morloux was moved, the castle was left abandoned. It was further demolished in the Morloux revolution.

Q: what delicious dish exemplifies the cousine of each Westrasi nation? What’re it’s ingridients and cooking method?
>>
>>74510791
Araxian eat Ox tail soup. It's rich and for foreigners tastes atrocious, but Araxians love it.

Celestial are about all things rice, but perhaps the dish that better exemplifies the empire cuisine is the Roasted Eel. Eels are grown in artificial ponds and farmed, so even the poor can afford to eat them sometimes. Flesh from it's side is cut into long strips and roasted over a very hot fire only briefly. The exterior gets roasted and crispy, but the interior is raw. This is served with a side of rice, river algae salad and sometimes, a duck egg that marinated in ricewine.

I'd suspect that it'd lead to a duel with no quarter. Someone will die, and occasionally both will. This is unlike in an ordinary duel, where after an appropriate level of crossing swords and maybe some minor wounding, it is considered acceptable for one side to yield with all demands of honor satisfied.
Virtually all duelists are usually scrupulously careful to make sure that it is known that they went into the duel willingly. This prevents any busybody from claiming that it was murder and getting laws and stuff like that involved.

>Ecinev and Treants
While they really hate each other, at the time of the setting the two sides are not actively warring. That's because there was a huge yet inconclusive war about 25-30 years ago which was pretty horrific on both sides. The treants lost a number of elders to fire teams, including their war leader, Oakroot Gladehollow (as well as many younger saplings and dryads, who are much less important) whereas Ecinev lost nearly 5% of its citizen population in the battles, often due to impaling roots erupting from the ground within fortifications.
The consequences of this are that currently the Treants are focusing their expansion efforts to the north and west and have adopted a very slow incremental approach, and the current generation of Ecinev leadership are loth to bring battle to anyone using their own families (just too many widows close to home). This is the weakness that Morloux are exploiting with their adventures in Nulamore and up the Gulf of the Forest.
They hate each other, but currently fear each other a bit, and each feels happier with other adventures.

Reminds me of this time I tried to get my group's build a setting together and one guy tried to add something like five subspecies of gnomes. They should have an increased odds of birthing "intelligent" ogres with a latent magical aptitude if they're living near enough to leylines. Make ogre makes rare but the combination of magic, intellect and physical strength makes any one of them a real threat. They can have a natural inclination towards the type of magic the feeling is attuned to. Ogres could be yet another attempt at the ubermensch that has gone awry.

A Yoroslovan historian named Pinor Dunsal wrote a book called the voice of the nation, which is a compiled list of interviews from peasants to a short section from the king himself. The book is conterversal, as in it are accounts of government corruption, church decadence, and a scandel revealing the king is a illegitmate bastard to the royal crown, if it is true. He published this, and was tried and hanged by the crown for slander agnast the king and civil unrest. While most of the book is benign and boring, his trial and death was enough to elevate the hisotical account among the literaly nobility to greatness. While it is banned in most Westrasi nations, an underground ring of the middle class and nobility share the few copies out there among themselves, and more are being printed.

Question: What is one fact (or lie) about the Yoroslovian Kingdom?

Honestly I don't remember seeing lore for the beastmen or ogres till now. They were placed on the ethnic map, and people said "well, we have beastmen and ogres now", and now 8-9 threads later we actually gave them lore. Personally while I think magic is dope, it will always be used as an "easy flavor" tool, because magic has no limits and so worldbuilding with it is easy. Therin lies the problem of making magical creatures.

If you feel the beastmen are largely redundant I'd like to question if there's any other race that serves a niche like the tiny beastmen minisculis. I don't think we have any tiny races in this setting yet. I'd be willing to largely just delete the other two and make the tiny ones the de facto beastmen.

In Leixi, chicken throats are a delicacy. They end up becoming something like a burrito, with different food items being stuffed into the windpipe of the chicken depending on what you like. Some people put different meat in the windpipe, some put spices, some put vegetables, some people like combinations. The throat itself it lightly cooked after being removed from the chicken, then it is cut open to allow different foodstuffs to be added, at which point the throat is sewn back together and more thoroughly cooked. Some people remove the thread after the cooking is finished, some pick the thread out as they eat, and some people just eat the thread.
>>
>>74512430
>They still do bring up a good point about redundancy.
Not really. Personally I find the focus on making this setting interesting combat wise has been pretty weak. Most areas have only 2-3 identifiable types of opponents, so you are going to have to move around a lot if you want to have a mid to long length campaign without repetition.

Amongst the giants of the southern alliance there is a traditional food stuff of a rather acquired taste. Made originally as a travel ration for the giants calorie needy bodies it consists of an outer layer of fat cured pig or boar skin wrapped around layers of pemmican and fatty meats with the whole thing glazed with a thick layer of honey.
>>
>>74512067
I think that the smol beastmen are definitely niche enough to stand on their own. Beastment of other "flavors" just need a bit more to them. A little secret of nym or redwall kind of thing.
>>
>>74514346
>Most areas have only 2-3 identifiable types of opponents
Most areas have your typical goblin, troll, ogre, hobgoblin or undead. Then there's all that could be in the post apocolyps techno savage lands. The west is heavily inhabited so you're not going to see plenty of monstrous races. Thats where you'd see more druid terrorists, goblins in the sewers, political intrigue, cosmic horror, twighlight zone in the wyrd lands, etc. The north east and south east are high fantasy trolls, undead, dragons, treants, elves, etc and everything in the middle is post, post apocolypse; cyborgs, robots, technobarbarians, mutants, abberations, ect. We need more monsters sure but we also need to temper them when we put those ideas forward. Trolls for instance are only a threat in great numbers, ambushes or if they're ancient. A little fire and preperation and the threat they represent is greatly diminished. Goblins are a threat in large numbers but they're physically weaker and smaller than most races. The issue with ogres as they were first suggested made them sound like large brutish creatures with access to all the magic. Oni are monstrous looking highly magical creatures, trolls are monstrous, large brutes with a very crude, primitive understanding of magic. Ogres and oni are often used interchangeably in fantasy. Oni mages and ogre mages being the best example. For ogres to stand out they'd have to be something other than A)Highly magical and B)Large brutes. Combining the two simply makes the redundancy stand out that much more.
>>
>>74511831
I like the idea that ogres are and/or were initially cannibals. Ogres are traditionally portrayed as monsters that eat humans after all. If they were part of the cannibal cults that were driven out and experienced some kind of change like the glutton, maybe by eating dryads, undead, oni, etc. It would go a long way to explaining their magical affinity. That in combination with living near leylines could alter them further. That said I agree with this >>74512430 choice they're more interesting if you don't know for sure which among them might be capable of throwing magic at you.

>>74512067
>facetous
Hardly, beast men just need a little something to make them stand out rather than just being anthropomorphic animals. I really do like the smol ones.
>more the merier
Thats kitchen sink thinking, like a good meal, too many ingredients can ruin it. What we need right now is flora, fauna and monstrous creatures. That said you could just as easily leave out monstrous creatures as most rpg systems have some kind of bestiary.

Orangutan-men and sentient small animals. All the descendants of lab animals. Set free by fey before the cataclysm (one of them). The orangutans could be the yoda-species of the setting. Good-natured, mysterious, rare and powerful, yet with a hands-off mentality towards world politics.

>>

We all have our favourite lore, mine is the Glutton currently.

For the Ogres (knowing they ain't Goblinoid), I'd make them not!supermutants. Basically a result of super soldier projects from high-tech times.

They could reproduce asexually giving birth to new Oni only if they "absorbed" enough magic. Making them look for let lines and kidnap magically inclined people.

Other races you them as "magic sniffing dogs". If trained properly they can track down a mage who cast a spell in an area hours ago.

An Oni mage us 1 in 1000 000, and a great source of joy for the whole race. More common maybe 1 in 1000 Oni are spitters. A type of Oni mage which can swallow a spell as it's flung at it and then spit it back out (weaker) back at the attacker.

Ehhh....maybe not this one. What do you think of ogres exploding if they "eat" too much magic? Also maybe they can "eat" spells a certain number of times per day.
>Other races you them as "magic sniffing dogs". If trained properly they can track down a mage who cast a spell in an area hours ago.
Or truffle pigs for magic items and or artifacts.

I think its ogre mage. Oni are supposed to all be magic just really really low birthrates and non twins are basically a few steps away from hobgoblins.

Not necessarily, they can still hunger after magic. It just lessens their hunger temporarily. Its like a drug to them. Or catnip. One that eats enough can give birth to/sire an ogre mage. Its the rarity that makes them special.

Now we need to think how the subraces will fit into this.
>>
>>74517767
Ogres that eat an inordinate amount of undead grow bone like protrusions and hunger for sentient life as much as magic. They also develop a sort of allergic reaction to sunlight.
>>
>>74517767
>>74517795
Rather than subraces I was thinking more along the lines of a transformation after consuming enough of X, Y or Z. Really old ogres almost always become an ogre of a specific diet. Their favorite food becomes a part of them. You are what you eat.

I kek'd anon well done. I do like the idea of an ogre thats eaten enough dragon-spawn or wyverns to develop a sort of fire-belch, some scales and stubby horns. Or an ogre thats eaten enough dryads to have a single sapling growing out of the side of his head. Makes each of the elders a unique encounter.
>>
>>74517887
Doesn't that basically make them canibal cults 2.0?

I'd keep them to absorbing magic trough eating and if you want an effect like this it can be an Ogre which is also a Cannibal Cultist.
>>
>>74517938
Fair enough. Its just that I don't think subraces needs to be a thing though either. I think focusing on a single race gives that race more character than splitting it into two or more. There's a loss of focus that doesn't provide the same quality. My only counterpoint to cannibals 2.0 is that I don't think the cannibals actually change all that much. The glutton was some kind of fluke. I'd need to read up on the cannibals though.
>>
I just read the Beastmen lore, it really seems OK and I don't see the complaints about it. The races have also a solid niche being only 1-2 feet tall.

> OG Canibal Cults lore
Because the process of gaining Eiph's blessed power sally involves killing good and holy mortals of his faith, there has been development keeping the soul whole when consumed. By eating the body whole while it is alive, the two bodies merge into one. The soul however stays intact, and the two people now have the power of someone that has eaten two whole soul fragments. This process is difficult, as the person must be eaten whole and alive until they are fully broken down and consumed by the eater, which can take several days. Magic to transform the bodies help, but if something goes wrong it can prove to be fatal to both the consumer and the consume. This process is called god eating among the cultists. If the god eating goes well, then two whole minds inhabit one body with the power of two full soul fragments. This does also cause mental and physical issues. The most common side effect is that extra limbs develop and the person starts to talk and interact with themselves, but other things can happen as well. This process can be repeated with more bodies, but the side effects of god eating start to become bigger and bigger until you are left with a blob of limbs and heads, with many voices calling out with no rhyme or reason. This is being worked on and fine tuned.

I forgot about this part, it's whack. I like how some people claim to have read this and then say "I think cannibal cults are supposed to be just a superstition not true".
>>

I tried already rewriting the Ogre article on the Wiki with accordance to said changes. The Subraces were a thing the OG creator proposed, so I am not sure of it's OK for us to just retcon them. After all it's a group project. I think it'd be better to rework/reconstextualize them.
>>
>>74518893
Rename 'subrace' to 'specialization' or 'growth' perhaps? I do like the idea that an Ogre will transform if it eats enough of a type of magic. Also the magic types earlier, I like that too.
>>
>>74518893
Only "argument" i can think of was the one about coomers, and that was difused preety qucikly irc.

When it comes to changing already written lore we should always have in mind that this is precisely group project. Each of us that adds something to this thread creates lore that needs to be more or less tied to rest of the setting, but also satisfing to other anons that work on it.
OG anon already said he gives up reigns over ogres, and that prowes only that he isn't attached to them, like some more possesive anons are about what they write. He was good sport about whole thing, so i doubt he would have something against just cutting the most controversial part out.
Also no one says that in future we wont expand on ogres or other races, but now we have to be focused on what we do. And that means trying to avoid stirring controversy in this thread.
>>
>>74518893
>We need to ignore the "overly critical" kind of people
I think we need to be less defensive. Its 4chan not reddit and >>74517647 anon lost all credibility when he fell for bait.

I agree with >>74518833 anon. This has most of what people have suggested as being the better option >>74517675. OG creator has already said they give up the reins so the "retcon" as you put it is a non issue. Wouldn't mind seeing the OG creator weigh in on those changes though.
>>
I kind of prefer the new ogre stuff as apposed to the first suggestion. That said I also like pretty much all the beastman stuff thats been suggested.
>>74517293
I god damned love this picture.
>>
>>74519032
Oh, no. The Glutton when it started had the same type of reaction for some reason.

>>74519040
Being defensive or not, we need to aknowlage that the "creativity bad" crowd is starting to come to troll the threads and we need to tell them to fuck off.

The way we should handle bad lore is how we did with the Glutton. Writing more lore to make it good. If you complain about lore someone wrote you should always offer a rewrite otherwise you should be ridiculed, bullied and told to fuck off an kys. The "creativity bad" types is what ruined /tg/. Gatekeeping is not a bad thing.

> I am gonna ask the controverssial question now though.
There have been a lot of meta-discussions popping out in the thread lately. Should we make a Discord to keep them there?
>>
>>74519126
>meta-discussions
Like the role play stuff and dice tables?
>Glutton reaction
I think that was due to the power scaling that would occur with the first depiction of that entity. Regardless of intention it came off pretty crazy, like it would eventually become a god and devour the world or something. I vaguely recall something about eating a bunch of giants or some such.
>>
>>74519126
Glutton reaction was't as bad; it didn't stir up so much shit as reaction to this.

>There have been a lot of meta-discussions popping out in the thread lately. Should we make a Discord to keep them there?
No. If we go of the thread with any kind of discussion we will go against whole idea of any anon being able to enter, and write some lore out of blue. So id sugest we keep discusion in threads only. Im not against using discord to play a game in the setting as proposed by Gurps anon (doing great work btw), but anything else is too much.
>>
>>74519126
>"creativity bad"
Most anons had specific issues if most anons don't like a thing we should exclude the thing. If most anons are good with a little tweaking then thats fine to. A group project doesn't mean the first suggestion or idea is gospel. It means the group decides.
>>
>>74519176
The second we do a discord is the second this becomes a click and many people will abandon ship. Those remaining will kill the setting with incestuous ideias that don't have enough new blood. I'm firmly against
>>
>>74519364
Yeah, creating discord is worst possible idea
>>
Shut uo about the fucking glutton the whole issue people had with him was not having a "can't lose" joker-style antagonist that was unnecessarily edgy. Some anon took issue and who him getting defeated and that adjusted the tone a lot but if you keep jerking off the nurgle look-a-like it's gonna get back to the point where it's just a grimderp villain jerking off on the setting
>>
>>74519404
> no you are not allowed to like this thing about the setting
Go back to jerking off to snow elves
>>
>>74519126
>Should we make a Discord
No thanks, even with partial anonymity some anons are ruining it. On discord it would become a clique and those who stick around would get hit over the head with "I contributed such and such so my vote means more" I gag every time I see that kind of talk.
>>
>>74519420
Anon, just accept that some people think your idea was bad. Not everyone is going to like everything you make. I agree with >>74519404
to some extent. The glutton was pretty shit.
>>
>>74519420
Bitter bitch much?
>>
>>74517675
I'm good with this, let OG weigh in on it. Even though he "gave up the reins" on it awhile ago. I agree with Skrug, take all the beastman stuff and mix it together.
>>
>>74519443
> No you are not allowed to like this thing
I didn't write it. Not everyone with the name Anonymous is the same person newfag.

This project has really gone to shit. No more comfy worldbuilding with a good atmosphere. All just salty trolls telling you what you get to like it not without contributing.
>>
>>74519505
Has the project gone to shit or are you just mad and in need of taking some time to walk away and cool your head?
>>
Alright as the first anon that sat down and wrote lore about the ogres the last thing I'll say is that I only bothered creating transformations on the already existing ley lines. Places where multiple ley lines cross are considered multiple types of magic and would only lead to ogre mages. Over the course of their growth period an ogre needs to consume 99% of one type of magic to transform, in order to transform, on top of the requirement that it's an abundant amount of magic.
>>
>>74519530
It has gone to shit.
>>
>>74519530

I'm not the one declaring project to be shit or intend to leave. So ofc I won't be missed. I'm here. Anon who thinks this has turned to shit should go and do better things witb his time though. Maybe jerk off to fat porn
>>
>>74519505
>All just salty trolls telling you what you get to like it not without contributing
You sound like a real cunt. How could you possibly know what anons have or have not contributed up until now? Maybe they just don't like a specific thing or the entirety of a post, they're free to shit all over whatever they like just as much as you're allowed to like whatever it is you're so desperately trying to defend.

I also don't care for the initial ogre suggestion (because thats what it was) and I like the new stuff >>74517675

And just so you can't be a cunt about not contributing. I vote the bug people and their teriad ancestors should get struck by lightning if they walk above ground during storms since they're covered in metal.

What's the atitude towards relationships, nudity, the body and sex in the different cultures and religions? Is any like medieval christianity? Or any like roman debauchery?

Pretty much free love in Skrug's land actually. Not much in the way of restrictive religions. The existing ones are all about having a good time.

Big yikes. How can someone write this and somehow think everyone else is wrong?
>>
>>74519675

So you just want anons whose ideas you like? Man that kind of hypocritical thinking must weigh you down IRL real bad.
>>
>>74519642
I didn't mind the OG, Ogre stuff. The new piece of lore I dislike most is the Araxians Rewrite.

They went from bull themed knights to. Bull knights in bullarmor, riding bulls, worshipping bulls and even their postal service being bulls. They're the Space Wolves of this setting.

Honestly might work on rewriting this soon.

The bull theme went from being peanut butter gently put on a sandwich. To dumping a piece of bread in peanutbutter and and pulling out a huge chunk of peanutbutter with the bread possibly being somewhere still there.
>>
>>74519864
You say that, but this entire thread gave birth to a total of: 2 pieces of lore

Neither of which are liked.
>>
>>74519843
I think he has a point. Bull knights are interesting but there's a point where the motif is overplayed. Your key elements should be the focal points of what makes the group special. If that theme is plastered onto everything then it blends into the background. It's like how one or two pieces of bright clothing can make an outfit stand out but if everything is the same colour you have no real definition.

This. Maybe we could make it so bulls become aggressive near each other so only 1-5 can ever be in one army to prevent that.

With being the one to ride the bull being a great honour.

The bull theme stays, but it's not a whole at riding them while all their neighbours and the whole world uses horses.

>>
>>74519998

>>
>>74519657
Celestial is very conservative, they see homosexuality as sin against the heavenly order and want sex to happen within the bonds of matrimony. That said, powerful individuals, 99% of time men, can have multiple wives.

However the reality of it is that, aside from a few zealots, almost nobody openly persecute gays and people fucking outside of wedlock, mostly villages ignore it if you don't flaunt it and as long as you make babies, whatever else you do is fine. Again, provided you are low key. Religious towns set around temples are a different story, priests can get meddly and the villagers themselves often grow to be more of a sticker for religious morals.

Celestial want people to marry and have kids within their caste to keep the fields and the army manned, and so that's reflected on their religious outlook, with the powerful getting away with trangressing the code, but also oportunistic rivals can use this transgressions to attack them when convenient. So you can do whatever you want if you are smart enough not to get caught.

That said, while they are annoying about who gets to fuck who and when, they give zero shits about the 'how'. Celestials have a in setting equivalent to Kama Sutra discussing sexual pleasure, conceive as something to be given to the groom and bride at their wedding night. They also aren't shy about nudity and public baths are a thing.
>>
>>74520011
Nah, it's been a long thread.
>>
>>74520024
That could work. We need to also see what disadvantage an Araxian Bull would have compared to a horse.

Like how Dwarven Wargoats suck in open terrain and are used mainly as mounts in mountainous terrain.
>>
>>74519657
Urakese have zero concerns about nutidy and the body as they are 90% sylbari and sylbari have the same bits under their clothes. They also into wrestling and other full contact sport so they aren't shy about touching. They also don't get 'married'. Urakese clans are big families so all adults are expected to care about all children. Reproduction is a mystery but it's definitely not done by pairing, so marriage isn't a necessary concept on their society. Partnerships can form and they are based on affection more than sex and raising kids, and there's a less strict definition of who you are 'dating'. You like to spend time with X, so you do. That's that.

Well, as a lesson for other threads, if you ignore this people they will try to samefag argue with themselves and them leave. Perhaps Araxian Running Bulls are harder to break/tame than horses, even farm-born hand-fed ones have an ornery streak. Also their diet needs to be specific to keep it in top performance, which makes them kinda expensive to maintain.
If we're to compare them to cars, normal horses are Honda Civics while the Araxian Running Bull is a Lamborghini Countach.
