This is a crowd sourced endeavor to fill out a political compass, started in the last political compass thread around the idea of odd compass axis, in this case:>FISHAligned to the vast world sea>STONEAligned with the vast interior continent.>PAINUnasked for, Transformative, New.>FAITHPreserving, Primordial, Sought. What was produced is pic related, the setting of LEVIATHAN the name is a work in progress, the World of Sacred Oil and Broken Stone. The purpose of this thread is to organize to finish filling out the political compass, and possibly expand the compass if we end up running out of room too quickly. If you wish to claim a spot please ask and it will be marked. Please also state what you plan on putting in the square. The format to ask is [X,Y] axis, measured in distance from the top right corner. If you wish to redraw an existing square please state so, draw, and the thread will decide if it should replace the square (but we prefer you add new squares.
The 'story' of the setting is emergent. So far what is apparent is:> Lapsarians have a deal with the Ocean Gods for oil, and perhaps for more.> Part of the bargain involves suppressing other groups, such as the cult of the Monolith, for which the Slab Breakers created the Slab Knights> Lapsarians Colonize Durites, and a civil war begins between Durite Rebels (and Other separatists) and Lapsarians. This ends up driving more and more Durites into extremism, and into worshiping and making their own bargains with the Fisher King> Back at Lapsaria, a group of Lapsarian rebels leaded by the Last Captain lose a decisive battle at sea, and were turned into monsters themselves.> The internal political situation of Lapsaria is also fragile, as the Oil Tycoon makes his plays for power, against the interest of the Hooks (and the State Powers who secretly are in cahoots with The Hooks)>The combination of old Stone magic & new Oil Alchemy has caused a rapid industrialization.>The Monolith is far away in the interior of the continent, away from Lapsarians>The continent is known as The Vast, the world exists as a Pangea with it being the only landmass. Long-term sea voyages outside of the sight of land never became common until recently.Old Thread: >>82061803

Re-posting for the new thread:Not trying to rock the boat here, but still not vibing to hard on the Leviathan name. It isn't bad by any means, but I feel like the world has expanded beyond it.What about something relating to the worlds resources?>"A Song of Dust and Oil">"The Tale of Oil and Dust"or just simply,>"Of Dust and Oil" (ODAO) just some thoughts. How's everyone feeling about the setting name?
>>82076742I think"A Tale of Fish and Stone" is validBut "Of Dust and Oil" is neatwhy the rocks are bleeding?
>>82076775>why the rocks are bleeding? They just do that, it's normal in this setting.
>>82076742I like Leviathan, because it can have the mythological meaning and reference King Fisher, a meaning of being large, referecing the Monolith, the continent being a pangea, the entire sea, but it can also have the phylosophical meaning since the conflict started when tge Tsarina started to reform and centralize.
>>82076785Don't ask questionsThe rocks are not aliveThe fish cannot talk
>>82076775yeah "Of Dust and Oil" might be my favorite so far. Or maybe even "The Vast: Kingdoms of Sacred Oil & Broken Stone">why are the rocks bleedingthat is exactly what you should be wondering...people are turning into sentient stone slabs and subsequently being crushed for their dust to be used in the industrial process for gunpowder, armor, walls, etc.
Random idea:>Airship Pirate Cults>scourge of land and sea>perpetually high off of dread aether that compounds their suffering>sacrifice captives to the Whispered Ziz, the Duke of WindFor reference:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZizAlso, their airships aren't that good. One last concept to try to round out Lapsarian society:>Synanceian Royal University Professor>slowly growing out of old monastic roots, but not entirely secular>key to maintaining rapid pace of technological advancement>obsessed with the idea of extinction and civilizational collapse, pays smuggler and salvage diver under the table for artifacts and fossils>"Will their ruin be our ruin?">Prays that some of the misshapen fossils she is brought are elaborate forgeriesIt's maybe a little TOO stereotypically Cthulhu Mythos, so let's go with something Mary Anning inspired. >>82076742Why do you want to be GRRMThat’s not a thing you want to emulate
>>82077372Combat in LEVIATHAN is already kind of a nightmare with people turning into rocks, getting so high on oil and coral you need to tell them you've killed them before they die and scaly terrors that have human eyes crawling out of every water-source. Which ironically could make it a really good wargame as the division between sharp and hard damage produces a very interesting but simple dichotomy of damage types. Gotta say I really like the setting.
>>82077312>>82077285>>82077250So do we combine these? Some kind of HRE monstrosity that is doing what Russia did IRL and stagnating with a crippling case of alcoholism, serfs, and internal disunity? Is Yothestein an electorate in this state? A Free-County?
So since the best way to travel to and from the Vast is by river, what are some of the major rivers in Lapsaria?I know this seems pedantic, but this is probably the first step we want to take before making a map of the place. Plus rivers themselves can have quite the personality. Here's an idea: One river for each of the three minor Fish "gods". Their home base is in the bay of each river, or at least near it.The Capri River is a fourth river and should be closed off to most traffic. Maybe the river has always flooded often, and while it used to be verdent farmland that was well irrigated through dams, it's now overrun with swamps and things best not named lurk in the flooded ruins of hamlets along its bank. You can smuggle shit from the Vast down it if you REALLY want to, but you'll have to make it through Capri Bay and good luck with that.
Working on the three lesser gods.
>>82077506> The Venit River, the Red River. What should be the central most river and replacer of the Capri circuit after that fiasco> It is if you can afford to bribe the Venits> If you can't most would rather slit their wrists than get on a boat on the Venit, who are known to sacrifice to Auntie Angler, their cruel matron> Gentle Timajor, the Winding river which is now choked to all fuck with every bit of traffic > Just filled with regular river bandits, some of whom tend to resemble soldiers> Favored by the Eel Sire, who is said to sleep cross its full length> Distant Nemijski, the Distant River that reaches the furthest into the interior of the Vast > Solemn and pale, while it is an easy river to sail, the war has been absolutely ruthless for traffic> Father Oyster is said to sing Pearls of Stone at the mouth of the river, which are symbols of privilege and decadence.Just my thoughts for the three lesser Fisher Gods, to correspond with their positions. Auntie is more giving to Pain, the Sire is vast and solemn and Father Oyster is actually known to work with Stone, in his own Fishy way.
>>82077646I'm sorry, I just can't hear the name "Auntie Angler" and not kek. It kinda takes me out of it because it sounds somewhat silly
>>82077721What would you suggest instead? I kinda agree, but can't think of anything.
>>82077721I feel like combining it with the Veniti and the position on the Pain access makes it work when there's material. Yea it sounds silly. But of all the gods, this Gulper Eel abomination is probably the most cruel. Think a gulper eel. Now imagine a gulper eel that eats can swallow ships and enjoys human sacrifices. Now recognize they call that abomination 'Auntie.'
>>82077730Depends. How intent are we on keeping the alliteration and/or the gender?>>82077776Maybe with the visual design this juxtaposition becomes more clear and impactfull, but just reading it, it seems unecesarilly childish
>>82077795I think the idea that it is an "Angler" and the female aspect should be maintained. "Angler" as part of the name is not necessary, I suppose.
>>82077795>Maybe with the visual design this juxtaposition becomes more clear and impactful, but just reading it, it seems unnecessarily childishThink this. This is their auntie.
>>82077795>>82077730>>82077776>>82077795I named it Auntie Angler originally because I find the idea of something eldritch taking on familial or parental roles intrinsically horrifying. I also apologize, the art style for the lesser gods is not my forte, I tried my best.
>>82077906Those look good CCA.
>>82077906Think you could reduce the glow effect on the lines? Just to see how it looks, because right now it looks a bit weird in a couple of spots
>>82077952It is probably easier to fix the spots that look weird. What are the weird bits?
>>82077906What if this is all just a long con by the Angler?Idea:>the Angler lured the person the Stone Admiral once was to the Sea, starting the Age of Sailing>the Bargain was of her design, but she always plots from afar>she waits, patient as the stars, until it is her turn to ascend using the blood of all those lured into her trapJust a bit of conflict to add to the left-bottom corner. Father Oyster bears the True Gift, Angler is the False Gift. But she's winning.
>>82077646Pearls are formed as a response to an irritant, covering it with layers of nacre until smooth. Maybe Father Oyster should be associated with distractions from Pain more than purifying of it, burying it down beneath beauty but never actually fixing it. Thus the "symbols of privilege and decadence", he offers a way to distance yourself from the world that doesn't really help anything.
>>82077967A handful of texts look a bit weird, but nothing that damages readability (Like The Dredging Pit Owner and The Dust of progress). My biggest issue is how it looks weird for some of the non-standard entries, like all lower-left god or The Brackish Ones. It feels like the different background colour doesnt stretch all the way to the borders and cheapens a bit of the effect, for example
>>82078012I mean, he is helping, but more for his own benifit. The process of pearling is actually kind of similar to the existing process of Quartz polyps, except as an external transformation instead of an internal one. If used on a person, it would take a while but the pain would fade. Although what's formed is arguably neither of fish nor stone.Kinda like coral maybe.>>82077970Angler also is the only one with her own people. And the Venit are if we're still working on what's been said; Fucking terrifying. They just use boats instead of horses.
>>82078013I had used it to cover up some things and make alignment easier. It'll take a fair bit of adjusting to fix. I'll get started on a no glow version.
The Statue Ascendant might be more Pain & Stone aligned than it currently sits. Perhaps it and The Famous Archeologist could switch? Also I am thinking [6,3] could be a Lapsarian Union Leader.
>>82078143Could Slab Breakers also move right one? There's talk of putting >>82077155 or some equivalent in the spot the Stone Breakers currently occupies.

>>82078214Let's try to fill this one out completely. Or at least 90%.
>>82078214Yea patience. We gotta fill out the plate first.
>>82078169I have done a round of rearranging.
Ok friends, I'll be taking a break. It seems like we don't have many folks today considering the super low poster count. If people post claims I'll try and get them marked and keep the thread ready by adding a few before tomorrow. I'll still be around, simply slower and a bit preoccupied. After the 8x8 is done I will start drawing a map. I draw maps a fair bit and can try and do an Atlus style map.
>>82078306You do God's work. I'd put out more ideas, but I don't want to do more than the three I've already suggested.
>>82078321That's fine man, I'm digging everything here. We can let tommorow get on.
In an Pangea continent the interior of the continent would be a vast desert and essentially be impassable. At best you'd have nomads on the deserts edge and real cultures lining the coasts, and a vast uninhabited central area. Depending on how the Pangea formed tectonically they also might be a massive super mountain range at its center where multiple continental plates are pressed together. This could be the real location of the monolith.
>>82078392>In an Pangea continent the interior of the continent would be a vast desert and essentially be impassable. Not necessarily. You could have vast glaciers in the far north feed rivers that create fertile river valleys in the extreme interior.
>>82078392How big is the Monolith? Maybe there's no mountain range, maybe there's just it. All the pressure that should have gone into making a mountain, whether volcanic or fold or whatever, instead just pushed this enormous pillar of Stone out of the earth.
>>82078237Asylum Inmate should have yellow eyes if he's been exposed to oil

>>82079052>>82079061>>82079085Proposal: The men they tempt and draw in they fuse to their bodies, symbiotically grafting their flesh together in an eternal embrace. This actually happens with some species of real anglerfish, the males are much smaller than the females and melt their flesh together with digestive enzymes so that the healing process combines them together into a single organism. That way the female always has a ready supply of sperm cells instead of having to hunt down a mate. Female anglers with as many as eight males fused to them have been found.
>>82079085>>82079052One last mermaid pic.
>>82079120While I'm not dismissing the idea, I prefer the Angler and her minions to be more long term plotters. So it isn't the typical "enthrall with song and then fuck/kill", it's "make them financially dependent on their gifts/goods, then corrupt them mentally, spiritually, and physically".So sure, body horror, but please let's have them be more than just a monster but a faction with a finger on the scales of the world.
Added the Professor, he's a little cramped.
>>82079178He is cramped, but maybe because you put "pays smugglers and salvage divers under the table..." twice.
>>82079141Yeah, I feel like I don't have as strong an idea of what the Angler is supposed to be about as you do. But I think the ideas aren't incompatible. Just make the fusion be the end-state of a long process, for those most physically degenerated victims. They've become so dependent on the Angler and her minions that they can't even maintain homeostasis on their own, just like the male anglerfish. The "embrace" would be not a sudden "whoops, I talked to the fish lady, now I'm one of her organs", but almost like a perverse reward for long service and allegiance to the Angler. You have done well, and suffered much in order to please them, and now you may rest within their bosom, forever.
>>82079212Exactly what I had in mind.
>>82079178I just realized, "smugglers and salvage divers" in the Professor's description should be Capitalzied and changed to singular, since they're actual characters and not general roles in this case

I see stone has become basically fish but on the right side of the compass while I was asleep. I guess a collaborative game will always tend to despise power imbalances as people pick a faction. >>82079727>>82079638>>82079898>>82080142I would be willing to cede the top right, and have the Rubblemaker instead be top center on the Stone Side. Indicating he'd become obsessed with his pain, which would be shown by the fact that some of the blood in his design is his own, pouring from his helmet.
>>82080188You do you, I'm not so much into the "eldritch gods in every corner, chose the kind of wizard you wanna be" style of compass, which is why I gave the Slab Captain mundane motives. Change that as you guys feel fits best with your vision.
>>82080236Yeah, I kinda think only King and Monolith should be Gods. Stuff like Ziz is just a big dumb bird.
>>82080339I'd say the monolith needn't even be considered a god. More of a barely understood and incomprehensible motive force, operating under a set of criteria which the human mind can barely even begin to comprehend.
>>82080354A god offers something in return for worship. The Monolith gives freely to any who seek it, and asks for nothing in return. Whatever befalls those who seek it out is purely upon them, the Monolith does not care nor is truly responsible. THEY sought it out, after all.
>>82080201>>82080188fookin winds>>82080236I respectfully disagree but I think that's what makes this type of project cool, very unique blend of concepts.Your lore for the Captain knight didn't seem to encompass pain in particular so maybe some other things can get moved around? I don't think the top Right corner needs to be full eldritch god status, but having it be something less mundane seems to fit for the time being at least.
Are we going to attempt to built a system for it after the chart is finished ?
>>82080472I believe previous anons suggested using preexisting systems to run this setting. Blades in the Dark was mentioned before if memory serves.Creating a brand new system from scratch might be a whole other can of worms
>>82080487I would advise to use other system, but copy a few elements from BITD for fun. Savage Worlds and Shadows of the Demon Lord come to mind As for character creationSome classless system with point but attributes and skills Morale/sanity would also be an interesting mechanic.
>>82076577I'm claiming 5,1.Heres my idea:>Slightly land oriented>Weird philosophy/religion movement that was invented a hundred years ago or so.>Objective is freeing humanity from the joke of everything terrible.>Wants to kill the fisher king, probably doomed to fail.>Wants to destroy the monolith>All the nine yards.>Highly laborist, Georgist, etc. Labor movements and the like. Also a little of a republican bent.>Hunted like pests by the government and several undercover orgs of many affiliations.>They refuse to die.>They even overthrew a small coastal city-state in the continent.>They seem to only be alive because they and their ideas refuse to die. >Their ideas are memetic as fuck, maybe a little too memetic...>A lot of ideological variety, from hardcore terrorists to people who want to make a support base and then see what to do from there.>Probably doomed to fail, unless...Do tell me what you think and what parts you think we could keep and what not. If the idea is in any way salvageable at all, of course.
>>82080667Fuck, will continue to dump ideas for this theoretical faction.>Rejects the sea>Rejects the land>Strives for something more>Man they say, but is it really man?>No one really knows who founded their ideas, their founding book doesn't have an author or the mark of any printing company in fact. >>82080667>>82080766But please, do say what do you think about this thing so I can refine it if you think it's good at all.
>>82080667>>82080766Sounds pretty gay and not really related to the setting
>>82077906The familial roles aspect does work, but I also agree that 'Auntie Angler' doesn't sound quite right. I think it's the alliteration, makes her sound a little too friendly (which probably isn't the right vibe).Maybe 'Mother Angler' or 'Sister Angler' would work better.
>>82080782don't be a fag and shoot an anon down, at least give some feedback
>>82080782Well, yeah, I guess. But please elaborate. I'd rather you give me a reason. If it's good enough I'll renounce my claim and try to think up something better.
>>82080809The description ended up less nice than the name sounded initiallyMaybe just make it Aunt angler
>>82080809Maybe it's fake friendly, it's an angler, after all.
>>82080844Or ironic. Not the first time people assign overly friendly names to things that could rip your arm off.
>>82080667>>82080766basically this makes assumptions about the king and the monolith that line up with a left libertarian emancipation movement and then makes a left libertarian emancipation movement. I guess you can do it, the compass is open for everyone.
>>82080844>>82080853Fair point. I'd argue that 'Mother Angler' also has that false/ironic friendliness (and ties in nicely to 'Father Oyster'), but if people do like the name 'Aunt Angler' then it works for me.
>>82080929I tried to imply that they were being used by a newcomer god trying to become a player on the board, maybe I made them up to be more successful than I intended they're not a major force or anything, hmm. Yeah. Doesn't seem that good of an idea. but I'll wait for some other people to give their 2 cents.
>>82080952Other Idea I came up with is very simple, a miner.
>>82080819I did. It doesn't relate to or frankly fit in to what's already been established. >>82080834There's no focused idea as well - you basically made an Mary Sue faction (and yes, that it's a faction instead of a character is another problem) that the basis is - we're against everything else because we're special and based and they try to beat us but can't because >They refuse to diewhich is 1-shite, 2- has nothing substantial behind it, and 3- just uninterestingAnd the idea of ideological variety is stupid when you're trying to say they have memetic effects on their "ideas". One contradicts the other
>>82081013AH fair, that's very fair. Thank you.I unclaim 5,1.It was a stupid Idea. Now before I claim anything my other idea is a miner, which I think fits more with the theme of the setting.Maybe we can draw of miners superstitions, for this theoretical idea of mine.
>>82081032Hmm, but is it a useless role.Hmmm.Might be already filled by the slab breaker. No no no, I don't think so.This could be more crystal-oriented.Purposefully or not. This man might be an enemy of the earth, or maybe not, just sacred of it, extracting whatever the company wants him to extract. The dim light of a lantern and a pickaxe his only defences against whatever is below. He hears singing. He doesn't know where it comes from.Offers sacrifices to whatever spirit will protect him, down there.
>>82081090Maybe not crystal oriented, but it's different from the slab breaker and similar because it's underground.Hmm, if I were to put a claim in. These could be the guy's descriptions:>He thinks he has seen at least one rock bleed while digging.>He hears singing. He doesn't know where it comes from.>Offers sacrifices to whatever thing will protect him, down there.Maybe one more but maybe not.
>>82081109By the way, do give your opinions on this also.
>>82081090>>82081109I recommend just reserving a spot and drawing a thing
>>820788567,5 I suck at drawing so this is the best I got (I could improve it a little though, add clothes etc)The miner.>He doesn't know what he is mining anymore>He hears singing from the earth.>He pays honor to anything that he thinks might protect him.>He hates this, but it's his job. It's honestly quite a shitty drawing even by my standards but it's what I can get, if someone has a problem with it they can redraw it.
>>82081452I hate the tiny arm but can't be bothered to redraw the lantern again.
>>82081447Hmm, maybe we can make him from massovi, he mines coal and iron to try and fuel the small and dysfunctional industry of that clusterfuck. In a last-ditch attempt to compete with lapsaria. He hates it down there and sees shit, shit that probably plans nothing good for him. Even if a couple have beneficial intentions in mind (Whatever the delvers mean by "come home" per example)
>>82081512By the way, someone needs to make a riverman, I won't because I'd feel kinda bad if I just made 2 characters immediately, (badly made characters at that)

Please extrapolate upon the relationship of the Fish/Pain Durite Rebel with the Stone/Faith Durite Insurgent. Are these ostensibly the same group but have been corrupted/infused by the opposing powers? How did this come to be?
>>82083017They have the same goal, which is to fight the Lapsarian occupation of Durite land, something which seems very difficult or even impossible in the face of the economic and technological disparity between the two. Durite rebels are those who will go to all lengths to fight the occupiers and have gone so far as to take on fish mutations to more effectively wage guerilla war. This makes them much more effective, but also makes them into outcasts and pariahs among their own people. They fight for a life they may never return to.The insurgents also fight the lapsarian occupation but they haven't abandoned their ways. Instead they have been granted some kind of power from the monolith, much like the Singer in Stone, and so they didn't have to give up their culture to fight the occupiers, so they can hide in villages and stuff.
>>82083017The feeling I have is that the power of the Monolith is not something actively sought ought out, as it is unpredictable, and only select few end up actually gaining any sort of benefits, instead of just calcifying and turning into slabs straight away. It's also not easy to get on purpose, as the Monolith doesn't answer to prayers, and it's a matter of finding the right polyp to spread to youThe Gift of the Sea, on thne otehr hand, is muchn more active and something that can be sought after with much more consistency. So maybe the ones who turned to the sea were more rash individuals sick of waiting, whod decided to act upon their troubles, making deals in exchange for power in opposition to waiting for power to come to a few lucky individuals.
>>82083017Insurgents are based, rebels are cringe. Even if they drive the invaders out, the rebels will have lost something that even death and subjugation couldn't take from them. Insurgents don't do that.
>>82083017I'd imagine it's a case where the Insurgent keeps to the old ways, still having the support of his people. The Rebel has rejected the old ways, his actions being seen as too extreme or taboo even by his fellow Durites. The two probably fight each other as much as they fight Lapsarians. There's plenty of real world examples of differing rebel groups being massively at odds with each other, even when they have a common enemy.
>>82083017I think both are different types of extremists of the durite guerrila. My idea for why there would even be some durites that would take the bargain with fish if they could stay aligned with stone is because the monolith-touched are rarer, or take a long time to develop. They are probably singers in stone that took up arms, so every time a monolith-touched dies, you can't exactly replace them, meanwhile all you need to get more superpowered rebels is to make a deal with the hooks and trade your humanity and faith for it.Most of the normal durite tribals should look like the pilgrim.
>>82079178On the professor "disapeared" > "disappeared"
So the setting is something like a mix between sunless sea and dishonored?
>>82083236Kinda? Those are definitely some influences a lot of people designing gravitated towards, but the Stone part of the setting is pretty distinct from those influences
>>82083266Yeah I see what you mean, the stone stuff does feel pretty unique
>>82083146I like the idea of the insurgant being a singer in stone that took up arms, and that there are of course many insurgents with no quartz improvements, but they're not represented on the compass. I prefer that over just saying "the rebels just don't care about their culture or about being happy so they made a dumb choice'
>>82077118Gonna expand on the Kossoki a bit.>Nomadic group within the Tsardom>Skilled horsemen, spend most of their lives in a saddle.>have an affinity for plains and steppes, tend to not get that close to large bodies of water.>Don’t worship the King because he’s just some fish, don’t worship the monolith, as a stationary permanent stone is the opposite of their way of life.>staunchly religious, following the state religion of Lapsaria>easily swayed by religious leaders>due to their skills as cavalry and their loyalty to the church, they are often hired on to quell the Durites, and hunt down pilgrims.>occasionally have conflict with the Tsardom as it’s strict borders interfere with their way of life.>the only reason they haven’t had a rebellion of their own to control the borderlands is they’re too dedicated to raiding the Durites, and the religious leaders are in Lapsaria.>their source of food is mostly from the herds of animals they keep and what they can forage>the only new technology they’re really accepting of is weapons, they like getting new guns, but find the factories that make them abominable.>lacking specific leaders, they travel where the herds wish to go, during wartime leaders are chosen by whoever can take control of the group, and they have no authority off of the battlefield.>when decisions need to be made the oldest members of the band make a vote.>>82079178Slightly more faith than pain, more stone than fishThe Kossoki horseman>love me church>’ate the borders >would revolt but having too much fun killing Durites>just wanna drink fermented mares milk and ride freelyI’ll work on the art later

>>82083994So the Durites and Lapsarians have a deal with the same god (Fisher King) or the Lapsarians deal with a different entity?
I tried combining the Lord & the Captain. Tried to imply in my square that they are the same person. Didn't have too much room for text for the captain political leanings.
>>82084161King Fisher not really a god, he's just the King Fisher, he loves his children equally, he gives gifts to those who ask. The Lapsarians have the great bargain with him, so secretly all of Lapsaria runs on king fisher oil. With the Durites, only a minority of them have chosen to ask the sea for boons, and even those that have resent him for it.At the time where that was done, the king fisher was still the only way of getting an edge for them.
>>82084161Some Durites rebels, from what I can tell, ran to make deals with the fish. Could be King Fisher, or maybe one of the lesser gods. King Fisher and the Council plays both sides.
>>82076577This is the #1 contest winner for VaatiVidya's Dark Souls 2 concept art contest

>>82084189I really like it!Implying that the seemingly banal Captain is actually becoming/being influenced by an emergent forceStill needs to be chiseled out a bit more but it’s fine for now
>>82076577Anyone else feel minor apprehension when they see a substantial cohesive-ish thread they're likely to enjoy? I've been putting off catching up on the lore before contributing for a while now.
>>82084201>ALL SHALL BE EMBRACED BENEATH THE WAVES
>>82084189>>82084331From what I can tell the Lapsarians not only have control of fish powers, but have managed to grind up the stone and turn it into power as well. How do Durites even compete?
>>82084346Looks about right.
>>82084189>Lord & the Captaintop left and top right?
>>82084355they don't, they are literally colonized lol. The only way they could 'win' is if they drew in a foreign power
>>82084396Or. Just slaughter enough Lapsarians until the common man refuses to go inland.>Tie me to a catapult and launch me at the capital.
>>82084377I think he means putting both entries for Top Right in the same place and making the two parts of the same entity
>>82084355I see the setting as the Lapsarians have been overlords of the Durites for a while, whereas the bargin is a relatively recent development that they've used to increase that grip. The durites are continuing to fight back, while other nations are happy to fund them from afar but basically see what the hell happens and how it all plays out, at least short term.
>>82080444So what is the word on the sky pirates? Very high pain, neutral fish/stone? I have an idea of how to include them:>Zeppelins were a means by the Lapsarians to travel and deliver cargo to the continentalinterior >The Capri Bay Rebellion happens>The military splits>Some of the Air Marines leave and become piratesSky pirates are a new and dangerous faction made up of former Lapsarian military loyalists.
>>82084442Yeah that makes sense, the colonization is long term, the bargain is recent and has intensified things immensely.

I am going to explain some brief stuff about my homebrew system 6PIP:>a d6 Dicepool System>all characters are defined by 6 statistics, each number ranging from 1 to 6>the statistics are Brawn, Coordination, Reflex, Nerve, Memory, and Presence >each attribute then governs 6 skills, also ranging from 1 to 6>the number on a skill is the number you succeed on >the number of an attribute is how many dice you roll>you also have an effort pool, an extra big pool of dice that you can throw at things, but exhausts on use>>82084515>>82080142What parts do you think aren't turning out well. Since I'm coordinating I want to take feedback and see if I can make it appeal to most folks. I understand the issue with Stone also giving powers.
>>82084349No matter which side he Blesses, the King Fisher plans move forward, whatever it may be
To help tighten things up I plan on having a thread/period of time to tighten things up. Basically we will be able to have people scrutinize certain squares they do/don't like and people edit or change them to help ensure the setting is relatively tight with its themes and expectations.
>>82084561The way I see it, it started with: This is a preindustrial setting and there is unholy portent in the water. That was supplemented with an interesting political situation and a religion involved that had some weirdness to it. But because it's a compass, there being soemthing changing people on one side of the axis, there has to be one on the other side, so people must be able to decide whether they want fish powers or stone powers, and if there are things on the faith part that maek you more powerful, you gotta have em onthe pain part too. There's not really a coherent narrative anymore, it's a great jumble of eldritch influences overlapping and making each other mundane. Except for the almighty rubblemaster, I think everything can be reconciled well enogh, as long as people just cool down a little bit, take the foot off the gas and play in the sandbox already established instead of constantly upping the ante with another mutating power and another source of magic.
>>82084679That's why I plan on having a scrutiny period after we finish. It's also why I wanted to imply the Rubble Master and the Knight-Captain were the same person. The Rubble Master isn't eldritch, just a man out of control.I think a scrutiny period will help things immensely. Thank you for your input, when we get to the editing/slimming down bit we need to have cool heads who will keep the whole things reigned in.
someone's gotta do the salt merchant, I just can't get his essence right. I can't get the 'Works with the enemy but is still of Durite culture' feel right
>>82083615The laughing, joking numbnuts who write books don't care about making good settings, they just want to be rewarded for cutting corners.Any single person who contributed to this did magnitudes better than entire teams of chucklefucks, so be proud.
>>82084755I was going to ask if someone was doing the merchant.Maybe the best way to show is to have him dressed as Lapsarian but with the hair, or dressed as Durite, but without the braid.
>>82084719>>82084679I get what you mean. I am doing some editing:>the statue ascendantMaking it into literally just a statue that murders people, not someone turned into a statue>the insurgent/the singerthe Polyps don't have to impart any actual power, maybe clarify that in a Stone Polyp square in [7,8]>The Rubblemasterclarify that it's a man losing his mind, not superpowers
>>82084755I swear someone laid him out in the last thread...Yea here.>The Durit Salt Merchant >Despised for his steep prices and deals with the Lapsarians>His goods are too vital for even the Durits to kill him>He owns the water forsaken by fish
>>82084793I still like the idea that the insurgent is a singer in stone taking up arms, and he is just representing the common durites resisting the invasion.Because what better way to show a people rebelling than a pacifist religious man going to war?
>>82084830I like that idea. Will add a:>Put away the song, took up the bow.
>>82084793>>82084830>>82084843like, I also think that if polyps are things that you have to be a singer to have, then it's totally reasonable for them to give you some small stuff - like heightened perception, faster reactions or whatever. It should be subtle and mysterious
>>82083456>>82084346>>82084189Yeah that's pretty goodI have an alternative as well
>>82084896they resonate with the singers voice, singing back any power that comes from it is just "the stone song"

>>82084916He seems pain aligned and stone aligned, and there aren't any spots left there. I like that horse.
>>82084896Hardened skin, improved perception, but not much else. Also it takes years, if not decades for it to cover a big part of the body, so it's nore of a way to show devotion and seniority than super powers.
>>82084958>>82084916Faith & fish aligned has a spot near the middle. Could work for him if we make him slightly damp.
>>82084974>Also it takes years, if not decades for it to cover a big part of the body, so it's nore of a way to show devotion and seniority than super powers. That also ties in in why Durites are seeking the ocean for powers. they do have something from the Stone, but it's long term and not very powerful. >>82085107The Kossoki sounds interesting, but we're lacking a Lapsarian commoner priest type.
>>82085093The Kossoki are probably gonna be stone aligned, so unless the grid expands we might have trouble fitting them in

>>82085107>Durite ShamanesseI vote for this, both because we need a bit more Regular Durites and because we are desperately needing more women in this thing.
Hmmm, we should make a pirate/explorer character, a dying remnant of the age of sail now being displaced by iron and steamers.Or maybe, hmmm, what about a traveling merchant selling relics and strange wares from afar, real or not. I'm just brainstorming ideas because wn.
>>82085052I think this project is cool and I love it regardless. Just had an idea and wanted to throw it out there. It belongs to the thread now.
>>82085093I have complained a lot, but can I just say that the Carver Monk and the Mnhir are exactly the kind of eery, subdued weird that I am here for. They're great
>>82085179I figured, so take your time man, you're going gods work.>>82085180I meant the early early one where someone compiled all the cultures.Speaking of which have any thoughts about regalia for the Kossoki? Veniti are the Angler folk and Masovii has its motifs but I don't think we have anything for the Kossoki yet.
Need to take a bit of a break lads, please try and coordinate for how the last few spots will be filled. Check the chart before making something.
>>82085107My suggestion to fish faith would be some sort of explorer or another leftover from the age of sail, the type who discovered the sunset isles and Goguryeo long ago. Now dying and outdated.
>>82085202I want to make Tsarina's maid or nun for Deacon to show how ordinary lapsarian slowly descends down the rabbit hole of conspiracy (with probably lethal end)
>>82085107Durite shamaness makes sense.
>>82085279Huh, that'd be interesting. I like it!. You'd put that in [4,7]?
Alright, that leaves us with 6 remaining. 3 [Pain / Fish] and 3 [Fish / Faith]At least one of those [P/F]s belongs to the Veniti and maybe the matching bandits while the Kossoki might inherent the more neutral [F/F], but that is up in the air. Probably dependent on the art itself. Now are the Kossoki and the Veniti similar in being mixed people, or do we make the Veniti their own thing?
>>82085279Both are great. I slightly prefer the maid, but both should be done by the end
>>82085093Hmmm, is it weird that I find the Delvers a bit out of place? Their design seems kinda generic alien/lizardperson. Would you mind if I tried making them a bit more related to the whole Polyp/Slab situation in design?
>>82085348>>82085093If that were to happen, you could move the delvers to [7,8], push The Singer in Stone to [7,7] and use [6,7] for >>82085107's Durite Shamanesse
>>82085348Go for it, I noticed it too.
>>82085260well Durites have a slight Mongol vibe about them so I'm thinking more Caucasian Steppe people for the Kossoki. Likely an ethnic offshoot of the Durites that intermixed with Lapsarians and adopted their faith, perhaps centuries old outcasts due to the differences. They likely have a language that's a creole of both, with some new words here and there. being almost strictly nomadic, most of their clothing is handmade on the move, so nothing too fancy, though they likely adorn themselves with familial tamgas either on their clothing or on jewelry, and in war time families would likely follow their relative with the banner that bears their tamga.
>>82085319The Kossoki are definitely a mixed people, but I think the Veniti would be fairly homogeneous
Well, as hard as I tried I couldn't get the Venit on the gondola, so this is what i have. The Venetii Ferryman>Only way to travel thorough the Venit river>Ask for an absurd price>Might drown you anyway> Never takes off his mask
>>82085440It might make for an interesting division if all of their Tamga and jewelry are fish based rather than the Durite stone styles. Same style but completely different alignment.>>82085529Nice. Maybe make his eyes (or the whole of the eyeholes) black. Auntie Angler has her gifts.
>>82085348Go ahead, let me give you their art.
>>82085348It was suggested before, but colouring the Delvers as just an outline was an idea, that only their eyes would have any colour. Incomprehensibility could be of use because their origins aren't clear. But take your swing either way.
>>82085557well they would vary from clan to clan, there'd definitely be a few that use older Durite styles, but they were likely outcast for a reason
>>82085529The colors are much darker on 4chan than when I was working with it.>>82085557Should they have a bit of yellow eyes as well because of oil?
>>82085575Thanks! Was about to as for this>>82085608I'll try both a crystal-based style and something in this vein. Though I suck at drawing, so can't gurantee anything good.
>>82085619The only people who are chronic oil addicts are the Hassym, but they got that eelsmuth look going probably.
>>82085862Fuck, forgot the black eyes.
>>82085877Oh yea that looks great.
>>82085257I made both, I'm happy someone liked them.Although the monk was inspired by another anon that suggested a atone sculptor, so I just toned it down and replaced mad with blind.
did a shamanesse. Don't ahve text for her but she's supposed to be a traditional Durite priest. I think of them as a kind of shinto monolith's buddhism, so a syncretic religion that kind of attaches itself to the larger one. The religion itself is outlawed, but I think they're permitted to be medicine women and stuff and maybe still practice.>>82086038So the Carver monks are outlawed in Lapsaria, that means the one you drew is maybe from Yothestein? He has a Germanic air to him.
>>82085093interestingly, not that many people ahve oil-yellow eyes. I count between 4 and 6
>>82086059Not sure where to place her, only Stone/Faith is cramped and [7,8] is going to A Massive Polyp.
>>82086106eh, jsut keep her in reserve for the 9x9, no need to cram her in. I just got a lot of requests for her.
We are at 60/642 Pain/Fish and 1 Faith/Fish remain. 1 Stone/Faith is left, but I believe it is being drawn already (haven't marked it as claimed yet).
>>82086090That means we need a Hassym. We also need to cover an Aemii, Yechod and Goguryeo. Also the salt merchant.
>>82086106I think some stuff is reshufling, and The Stone Singer's spot wil become open.Speaking of>>82086151Any opinion on doing >>82085374?
So what is up with the Delvers exactly? Are they just stone version of fishmen, or are they something else?
>>82086180The Brackish ones are servants of the King, the Monolith doesn't give a shit about the Delvers.
>>82086202So what are they then? Is the lore open for speculation?
>>82086160That makes a good deal of sense. A redrawn delvers can move to [7,8]
>>82086180they're like ants under stones, only the stone is magic and so are they
>>82086180The delvers are WIP. They might just be worshipers of the monolith, they might be something more. But whatever they may be, we know they are getting a redesing
>>82086209Open for speculation but I feel like what they were doesn't matter so much as what they are.
>>82086059I used for reference a image of a franciscan monk, but he is suposed to be from anywhere from the deep vast where stone is the state religion But I guess if we are going if Macavii/Yothestein being an iberian/italian/HRE clusterfuck, he is can be from there.
>>82086151tring to work on something that might occupy one of those fish spaces. Basically the spirit of a boatman trying to guide his fellows to safety before what happened to him happens to them, what do you think about it and where do you think it should be? Given that anon is working on a aide to the tsarina I'd say in the pain area.
>>82086223>>82086215>>82086225Well I had an idea that they might be protohumans. Thus the "come home" stuff. So rather than evolving from apes, humans evolved from Delvers - or a common ancestor.
>>82086249troglodytes are always a good staple
>>82086180They are a mystery.I think they are from a ancient, non-human, stone worshipper people, that sonehow de-evolved.Or they are ayys.
>>82086232I was going to draw 'The Lapsarian Sea Crawler Crew'. Basically Lapsarian proto-tanks that are amphibious. Put it up in high pain/fish along with the other military Lapsari.
>>82086151"Asks for an absurd price" is duplicated.
so is anyone doing the Tsarina's maid?
>>82086284And is suposed to be Venitii, not Benetii.Although that one is one me, I mispelled the name.
What is Our Lady in Grey?
>>82086307>VenitiiIt's already Venitii.
>>82086311Big old haunted ironclad.
>>82086311The Last Captain's sunken ship.
>>82086325But I swear it's written Venetii on the compass.Am I going insane?
>>82076577Any of this inspired by Keith Thompson's Holy Piscine empire? it seems to match a lot of the flavor. Here's an example of one of his pieces from his site with accompanying text. >OFFERING>A land bound grand priest of the Holy Piscine Empire commits a babe to the unfathomable depths. A Harbinger receives the sacrifice, winching the basket up to the tower which arises from the deep annually, the top of which is merely the peak of an immeasurable spire stretching up from a great underwater trench.
>>82086292Hopefully? Since she's somewhat deep in the fish spectrum maybe she's affected/addicted to fish oil and starting to develop some fisgy caracteristics. Maybe she's been hooke in (heh) by the Hooks
>>82086151>coughing up scalesnice>>82086385I'm asking whether I should do it. If you have text for me I could use it as inspo
>>82086367Oh, no I am just blind. Thank you friend.
>>82086385It'd be cute if she had gills poking out from underneath her maid uniform's collar.
>>82086151Don't have art but claiming 3-7 for the Anglers handmaidens from the last thread, since it got a few people hype
>>82086444Do you plan on drawing it? Or do you mean to reserve to another.
>>82086232Is it even a good idea?
>>82086416>I'm asking whether I should do itI guess so[3,7] The Tsarina's Maid> Her family has served the Tsars for generations> Addicted to the Fish Oil> Owes an unpayable debt to The Hooks> Torn between her loyalty and her faith
>>82086479>>82086444Perhaps combine the Angler's Handmaidens and The Tsarina's Maid.
>>82086282There are two spots, we can make both. Or not, your call.
>>82086495I think those are completely different concepts that just happen to share a word

>>82086479>>82086495> Her family has served the Tsars for generations> Owes an unpayable debt to The Hooks> Torn between her loyalty and her faith> Chosen to be elevated to handmaiden for Auntie Angler

>>82086586Probably somewhere on fish/pain.Maybe it would be better to save it for when the compass gets bigger.
>>82083994We're gonna need to start chronicling the lore details, I'm gonna be busy for the next few hours, but if one of you fa/tg/guys wants to be our lorekeeper that would be a great help
>>82086614After the 8x8 is done I will work on it.
>>82086377I don't think there's any direct inspiration, but there really is nothing new under the sun, is there.
>>82086593full disclaimer, I'm just gonna draw an innocent handmaiden addict whose gotten in over her head into a cult. You guys do with that what you must
>>82086646Fair enough. Though >>82086441 would be pretty good if it's not much to ask
So either:> Her family has served the Tsars for generations> Owes an unpayable debt to The Hooks> Torn between her loyalty and her faith> "Why am I growing gills?!"OR>Used to tend to the Hatchlings, now serve the Tsarina>trades secrets for songs in the Royal Court>SHE WILL STRANGLE YOU WITH HER GIFTS>The Salvage Diver recognizes her face
>>82086687I prefer the first.
Ok, 3 more spots. I still am trying to do [3,3].
>>82086687The latter imo
As before, I will wait until we hit page 9 then make a new thread. After the 8x8 is done we will transition to slower work, being:>Lore>Map>RulesI expect a lot of anons to drop off once we hit that point, which is super understandable. In addition we'll do refinement and edits to the 8x8.
>>82086744I'm thinking of using the blank 8x8 for location brainstorming. We can have art; but drawing rivers, buildings, and forests may be a bit boring.
where were you when a bunch of retards posting Wojaks made a better setting than most actual companies?>>82086755I draw maps and was planning on providing a blank one to fill in. We'll see how things go.
>>82086708Ok, can I do 1,3?Here is what I have, for now, I am thinking of adding details to show the guy was brutally attacked.By the way, how good is the drawing,
>>82086793>where were you when a bunch of retards posting Wojaks made a better setting than most actual companies?Corporate worldbuilding is focus grouped to death.
>>82086793I was on the toilet.>>82086799Give him a hat, hats are cool.
>>82086799Reserving 1,3. I'm going to eat soon so I might go on hiatus for a while.Still working on the ferryman for the time being, and if you plan on disregarding it because it's a bad idea or something please tell me so I don't waste more effort on the drawing.
>>82086799I like it. Add a hat to the lad. and add blood stains.
>>82086831What ferryman? Because I might have accidentaly cucked you.
>>82086799>>82086831The Capri Ferryman, far more dangerous than the Veniiti Ferryman.
>>82086799>>82086831[3,3] and [1,3] are both open. I think 3 ferrymen for one chart may be a bit too much.
>>82086857But who would win in a race?
>>82086857>He made a deal with the Ghosts>sometimes, he returns to port alone
>>82086866Maybe one of the ferryman can be a fisherman instead.
Haven't caught up yet but was browsing the previous thread when I came across "fuzziness" as a strength of the format in terms of generating engagement. I wondered if that could bee seen as one interpretation of the Pain-Faith axis in terms of hewing the blank face of possibility into concrete history through the painful process of invention and experience. In this sense the Monolith and Fisher both represent an inhuman blankness which is either complete and unmarred without human interference (monolith) or actively seeks to was away the suffering (king). The Captain was a rebel and the Knights are (thus far unsuccessful) god-killers, both are struggling to change forces far larger than themselves rather than be swallowed by history.
Tsarina's Palace Maid>her previous employer ended in the asylum>Swears that she have seen fish-like monster in the basement once>Why does the deacon always stink of fish?>Found halfburned documents about Capri bay while cleaning the fireplace>Curiosity will probably kill the cat
>>82086857How so, I pictured him as more of a gentle figure who aided the people who lost in bodies of water mainly rivers, before something terrible, like what happened to him, happened to them, but if you have a different picture please share it.>>82086851I intended it to be more of a spirit, but let's see how it goes.>>82086848I'm going to try with the hat but I don't know if I'll be able to make it look presentable, I can manage blood stains, even a couple of wounds.
>>82086924Ah shid, turns out I'd repeating established lore >>82070780. Guess it's a good thing if the themes are strong enough that different anons independently arrive at similar takes.
>>82086969Cute, but doesn't really fit [3,7]. She's supposed to be fishier and faithier than the Tsarina, not a curious neutral.
>>82086793Not to be That Guy, but this is heavily inspired by Sunless Sea.Still, it's a very cool community project and it's unique in its own way.Easily one of the best threads on /tg/ in a while.
>>82086969nice, I did a more classical handmaiden
>>82086969I agree with >>82087026, she’s one stepped removed in fish from the actual sea gods and one step removed in faith from the fish men. She needs to be a bit fisher. I like the art though.
>>82086969fucked up with time, sorry, english is my second language.>Swears that she saw fish-like monster in the basement once
>>82087094>>82086969It honeslty sucks that Seawall is taking up a slot (although I don't support removing that), because that's where you'd put the "Curiosity Killed the Cat" Maid.
>>82086886Oh, that seems interesting. Very interesting.Maybe a deal to save himself.
>>82086906different rivers, different ferrymen. They may be very disapproving of each other's methods
>>82087086It's kind of hard to see the eyes in this one, but the gills are a nice touch.

>>82087084I can see Sunless Sea, Lovecraft, and some other things. It's an amalgamation.
>>82087000Capri as good Samaritan (in that it was surprising because Samaritans were dicks) appeals to me. The ferrymen were corpse scavengers who ended up saving many in the process of harvesting their valuables before they sank. They play up their new repute so hard that even they're not sure if the kind robbery is an act anymore.
>>82087150As a normalpeoplefag who did the smuggler, marine and HARPOONER, I full support this. You need the mundane to make the weirdness seem weird
>>82087094>>82087026Good point. Maybe it's possible to put ferryman to 3 7 and her to 3 6? Though if someone has better alternative I won't be against.
>>82087167Please, my computer can barely survive the 8x8.
>>82087167I think OP said he'll consdier it, but he'd like to slow down a bit to organize lore/maps and stuff before growing the board even more. Also, his PC is dying due to the File size, and increasing to 10x10 will surely make it worse
>>82087000He probably fits [3,3] better then.
>>82087203>>82087167I feel to some degree expanding out infinitely kinda loses what makes the format work, which is the slight fuzziness and the focus on the 4 axis, but thats just me
>>82087165>SpoilerI feel the Tsarina is the one who gets to wear that in the royal house hold anon.>>82087203Feels as if the best option is doing 4 5x5s for each one. But that is just my 2cents.

>>82087222Shilling >>82087182 again and seconding >>82087150 (kinda). If there is/was a spirit there should be exploitative fucks donning its likeness and incidentally doing good. Turns out the real magic was the friends we made along the way (fishing up bodies).
>>82087150>>82087198I fully agree, but we're low on space and the only places we have now are near the fringes, where it'd be hard to have normal people
Could we do a 5x5 once the 8x8 is full up that is EXCLUSIVELY for normal people and PC archetypes?
>>82087198Agreed, I prefer subdued weirdness and normal people dealinf with the eldritch.Although the only normal person I did was the mercenary, the ferryman and the monk had supernatural, and I don't know what's up with the Menhir.
>>82087295And by this I mean everybody would end up in the neutral section of the 8x8. Purely for non-aligns or barely aligned.
>>82087267what was your suggestion?

I kind of want something Whale-related at 3,1. They're such an important part of the setting but other than the Harpooner they don't have a lot of impact. They're just out there, being hunted.
>>82087454I wish I didn't. Personally I'd advise moving around the Venitii as followers of Auntie are more pain aligned. But that's just my thought.

>>82087624Tsarina et. al. fag here, I'm gonna go to bed soon, but if you're gonna go through a "improve on these squares" thing, I think I'm probably going to be able to do some of it tomorrow. So if you want to set some of them aside for me, I'm down.
>>82087662What exactly differs from the Drurite rebel and insurgent? Is it just a matter of how corrupted they've been by the fight so far + fundamentalism vs victory at all costs?
>>82087695>>82087662I also did King Fisher if you want one of the Great Fish touched up.
>>82087720Durite rebel were not touched by the Monolith and were forced to make deals with the Fish to fight back. Insurgents are probably rare, or only found in Durite stronghold regions where the Lapsarian's control is in-name-only.
>>82087720One side made a deal with one of the Big Fish, the other one embraces stone.Probably Auntie Angler, she's down for anything.
>>82087689Nevermind, got it!
>>82087758>>82087720tbf, rebels also embrace stone, they just sacrifice their relationship to stone in order to protect it.
>>82087689Fuck. I'll try will take some time.
>>82087771I got it, no worries friend.
>>82087770We've already agreed that the stone and the fish aren't necessarily in opposition, unlike the human elements. Also probably the Brackish ones. They seem like absolute shit disturbers.
>>82086638i'll post some more of his connected works for some inspiration. his site has some great fiction included, but i won't ruin the whole thread by copying that too. look it up if you like.
Oh shit, stuff moved fast. i was gonna go make one for the Mirror Walker as here >>82079601 but I don't think there's room for it now.
>>82087790Ferryman has been completely unmisted, it might fuck a little with the color scheme but I removed most mist from his body too so it didn't dull the original colors too much after the new mist was applied. It was as easy as using the paint bucket.
>>82087805I don't disagree, but it's also established that rebels who get mutations aren't allowed to return to the tribe.
>>82087835Of course, of course.
When we do the map, we definitely want to define four seperate political "zones":1. Where Lapsarian control is most pronounced. Things are the most peaceful here and the most "normal" on the surface. The Oil's influence is at maximum, but it's all hidden in the shadows or under a veneer of elitism.2. The "Colonial Holdings", where Durites have been subjugated for a long period of time and have lost the old ways in part. Durite Rebels are a major threat, as are darker things that prey on those caught up in the confusion of the civil war.3. The "Frontier", where Durite influence is at maximum. Durite Insurgents are found here, as are most of the Stone/Faith aligned characters. Delvers are a problem, although to the Lapsarians they're just a myth. The Monolith is close.4. Capri Bay/River. No Man's Land. Lawless and wild to the extreme. Was once the heartland of Lapsaria. The Fish and Ghosts fight for dominion here.
>>82087869also, it's gotta be messy. I mean, it's clearly a messy situation, and it's the colonial period. Borders aren't gonna be clear, those zones will overlap. Shit's wack.
And finally the 8x8 is done. I am not going to immediately enlarge it to 9x9. If I do so it will be a bit different. I will nail down the existing squares and smash it down to one layer instead of hundreds for all the text and images. That will let me computer handle it. If we expand again it will need to be done under the pretext that things will be harder for me to edit from here on out to allow for better performance.
>>82087952nicegood job everyone
>>82087952IT IS COMPLEATE HURRAY!
>>82087869It should be noted that Lapsaria is a really big place and that the Vast is even larger, to the point where that Interior is not really controllable outside of the other nomad groups. There are also the other people inside Lapsaria like the Aemiii way up in the north and the Hasyym who aren't placed.Additionally the Masovii Commonwealth of Opal and Oak-Stone is present, the Sunset Islands need to be acknowledged, Gilded Jasentorf the House of a Thousand Princes is right beside Lapsaria and is huge but also a decentralized feudal shithole. The Kossoki people are nomadic but will probably have some map presence, as will the Yechodic people. But Goguryeo is so far away it won't be much of a thing.
>>82087662God this is looking so great CCAI had some amendments to the top right corner, to clarify and condense since there's some overlap.Feel free to add it if you get around to it.For clarity's sake, the name should be amended to:>Rubblemaster Patryk this implies that Rubblemaster is a titlethen, just take out the "Knight Captain Patryk" subtitle add an extra line that reads>truest captain the knights ever known or something along those lines to your discretionI think in general the overall lore/story needs a write up to tie up loose ends etc. Was gonna do a big post for it when the next thread kicks off and then we can all tear it apart and figure out what goes where.Really starting to come together, good work everyone!
>>82087541>>82087491>>82087470>>82087454I suck at drawing but I'll try to make a sperm whale breaching out of the water, with red eyes, scars and large teeth.Suggestions welcome.Don't care if it won't get used.
>>82087952I hope you'll at least keep three layers of wojaks, background and writing.
>>82087952Sorry for being autistic, but you've got one black pixel slightly to above and to the right of The Rubblemaster and it bugs me
>>82087952If you keep the images as one layer, and the grid as another you'll reduce the difficulty of it and still be able to make minor edits. Though they will be noticeably harder.

>>82088008>this implies that Rubblemaster is a title>then, just take out the "Knight Captain Patryk" subtitle add an extra line that readsThis is a great idea>I think in general the overall lore/story needs a write up to tie up loose ends etc. Was gonna do a big post for it when the next thread kicks off and then we can all tear it apart and figure out what goes where.Really starting to come together, good work everyone!Very apprehensive about this though
>>82088025>>82088020>>82088040>>82087952I'm going to reduce it to a:>text layer>image layer>background laterWith that we should be able to do enough edits. With everyone requesting more normal people I think opening it to an 11x11 would be best. Technically I work full time and so have been doing this on the clock. I'll need to slow down and do my actual job for a while. I'll make the new thread then slow down for a few hours until I clock out.
Hmm is there other ways to expand the setting except the compass ? (it's pure art but we can't and probably should not expand it endlessly)
>>82088177I don't know if having crystals grow in your body makes your humanity intact.
>>82088126It's not that daunting, having things picked apart isn't super complex. Beating details out of the rough stone is kind of part of the story. Also if this is going to be 9x9 does that mean there's going to be a center square?

>>82088247Yeah, the seawall being dead center would make perfect sense. It separates everything.
>>82088247I 100% meant to write "transcends" and now I feel stupidfucking dot
>>82087952Based.But could we go back to the 5x5 under the pretext of expanding out the Neutral Middle squares? People want more normal characters, so let's do more normal.
>>82088386doing normal characters in isolation defeats the point. Their juxtaposition to the weirdness is what makes them useful.
>>82088386Or we could add the 3 new lines/columns in the middle. It's still at least 9 new spots in the dead center, + 12 near the center, + all the restLoooking over, 11x11 will probably be way too much, since i'll grow from 64 -> 121 squares (almost double what we have now). 9x9 or 10x10 would probably be best, and if these new lines were in teh center would still ggive us plenty of space for new stuff
>>82088386>>82088420I think giving middle lanes will give enough for the middle to satisfy people.
Y'know, adding MORE stuff doesn't necessarily make things better. There's gotta be some stuff left for the imagine.
>>82088386I say we wait for the 11x11, which feels like it should be the final one. For Lapsaria anyways. Jasentorf sounds like it's about to explode.
>>82088448let's keep it to 9x9 for now, bigger than that is probably far too much.
Sadly it's not very good, but this project of autism has inspired me and so I gave it a try.In case anybody is wondering, it's supposed to be a little Durite sailor lost at sea in a boat.
>>82088514I agreePersonally I think 9x9 should be the absolute limitstill plenty of ideas and that way we get the sweetass middle seawall
>>82088574Decent, but... Whales have flippers
>>820885149x9 will give us 17 new spaces to play with, 9 of which will be center-ish. >>82088766This is exactly how I imagined it should becasting my vote for these placements
>>82085158I missed this the first time, but it's worth noting that the Kossoki are not crown loyalists, they're loyal to the Lapsarian Church, but hold no particular loyalties to the crown or the Lapsarian people.for instance if for whatever reason the Deacon decided to overthrow the Tsarina, they'd side with the deacon precluding a reason not to, such as irrefutable proof of him conspiring with fish people to the detriment of the Kossoki people.
>>82088766I think this is pretty good, if we're going with a 9x9.Maybe I'd push the Seawween farmer up one, but that'd be a nitpick>>82088805>Somewhere, we gotta put a fully mutated gifted humanThat's what I envisioned the hatchlings were. >>82088766My movement suggestions:>Coral Peddler and Tsarina Maid both right one square>Salvage Diver down one square>Lapsarian Infantryman down one
>>82088846>Salvage Diver down one square>Lapsarian Infantryman down oneI think both of these have enough paranioa/suffering in their description to justify being slightly/somewhat pain aligned, respectively.though maybe the Professor could go down 2, considering right now he's as dep in pain as the schizo maid and a literal statue demon
