So just tossing this out for an idea. Since the Chapter Master was another chapter, and the sentinel founding was based around other chapters falling to chaos or just getting decimated. What if the Chapter Master's chapter fell to chaos and what few loyalist brothers he had remaining did a repentant crusade. Skewering their enemies until there wasn't a single trace of traitorous scum was left. Since he cleared his honor, that's why he was used for the Chapter's geneseed.
>>
>>82526593
also, they refer to their chapter master as Voivode.

The dragon is cool for a banner but in shoulder pad it will be very hard top paint.

Perharps making something like the moussillon herald in whb but instead of the skull put a blood drop.

Or making a Albanian like symbol but with dragon instead of a bird.
>>
>>82533399
So we got a name for the warband?
>>

Let's develop them a bit more.

We also need to know the look they have as a blessing

So the chapter warcry is what? "DONT DISTURB OUR SLUMBER!" or what? and they got assmad at other marines and imperials after someone interrupted their dreaming.

Wait just thought of a better sleep themed battle cry,

For attacking cry, could something like "Dragon, AWAKE!" With dragon in this case reffering to big E work or would it be too heretical to admit that the emperor is sleeping on terra? Being "open" about that would explain their diplomatic situation with other imperials.

If the chapter master is a psyker (or takes advice from his chief librarian) he could decide on where to send the chapter based on visions/dreams he has in his sleep.

Can even be dreams of stuff that hasnt happened yet.
"I dreamt Orks will attack planet X on [I honestly really dont know how dates work in 40k beyond the Myear + that civil war over calenders], lets go there and prepare a welcome."

Dream visions is the best source of advice and can never ever lead to bad stuff.

I think we can combine the two Idea.
BA psyker or even other chapter have that kind of dream. SW or WS going to Hunt for exemple.

But since they are BA they Can go in to the black rage. So when they go to sleep it's more long than regular marine and are exausted after long day of battle. They will have to go into deep sleep to recover even if they're Astartes. They can dream ans have nightmare. Instead of regular nightmare, they can live the combat on the vengeful spirit putting themself in them black rage when they sleep.

When they woke up they can tell the reality from the dream. They are merely impossible to calme down without being shot down.

To prevent that they since have to respect a strict sleep shedule to avoid being overly exhausted. They also have to sleep in dreadnought sarcophagus so if they transend when they sleep they can't escaped the pod and are unleshed only in combat on deathcompagny dreadnought.

The chapter deploy more dreadnought than usual chapter but they are mostly deathcompagny one. Their is a vault in chapter Fortress with every brother that wait to be awaken since the chapter have more sarcophagus than chasy dreadnought to take them into battle.

Pic is the librarian that i kitbash

that's a very interesting idea, one thing that really stroke me when I was thinking about them is that because of their many premonitions we can have a subtle nod to a possible nightlord strain in their Gene-seed (I think nightlords also have a foresight mutation, but I might be wrong) , because of that, it would be nice if their death company had a dark blue tone.

also I think I should create a new thread for them since this one already hit 8 pages. I want to flesh out their world, the friendly PDF and other stuff

That is most likely what other chapters call them behind there backs because of how weird they are. And you know the whole sleeping in space coffins during the day. And when they wake up they drink the blood of there enemy's to steal there souls.
>>
>>82534198
We can always go with "BLOOD FOR THE ANGEL" what with who there father is.

But now that i think about it do you think Buffy will be mad that her boyfriend sired even more vampires?
>>
So i am not sure if them being divergent blood angels will let them get away with this but here goes. The reason there brother Chapters want nothing to do with these guys is that they see the red thirst and the black rage not as curses that will doom them in the end. But as the last gifts Sanguinius gave his sons before he died.

They see nothing wrong with giving in to the red thirst and using it to drink the blood of there enemy's. And the black rage is not only a holy gift given to the sons of Sanguinius to take revenge on his foes. But a chance to be given his power as well. For the sons of the dragon have a dark ritual that they say brings them closer to there progenitor than anything else. They say that if a Chapter of the blood of Sanguinius were to drink all of the blood of there death company brothers then they will gain all of Sanguinius memory's from before he died. As they think that the blood of the death company is they same as the blood of Sanguinius himself.

No that is the thing tho. The Flesh Tearers and all of the other sons of Sanguinius see the black rage as a curse that is killing them and shaming the name of there father.

The sons of the dragon do not see it that way. They think that it is just the last blessing of Sanguinius given form. And that the more of there brothers that embrace the red thirst and the black rage the closer they all get to there primarch.

But in the end they may be nothing more than a bunch of deluded monsters that are trying to find a justification for all of the blood they have spilled. And all of the sins they have committed that they do not feel bad about at all. Because of how evil and depraved they all are.

Another idea: what if their drop pods double as coffins/prisons for their brothers who are “embraced” by the black rage?
Like, the Sons of the Dragon have found a way to leverage their additional geneseed defect of torpor, into a salve for the black rage: they lure their transformed brothers into a sensory deprived sarcophagus (drop pod) for indeterminate periods of time, then dump them on enemies, no towers needed.
Their chaplains or (apothecaries or librarians or) captains might know a sort of pied piper song or command to “younger” thralls/marines to get them crammed back in when the battles over. This method may be learned & enforced by the chapters delvings into the nature of their progenitors gene-seed flaws, it could be a part of their “scout” training/indoctrination as well, making them susceptible to their superiors commands even in the black rage, or at least the compulsion to return to their “tombs”.
>>
>>82579855
You can even extend this to all their other transports, along with the red thirst, as well.
Effectively making them really sleepy, dream walking, image training, spirit journeying vampires.
>all battle brothers spend most of their time in torpor, housed in specially sealed vehicles, closed off from the outside world (probably ritually lined with the gore of their black companies)
>in this restless yet still slumber, they ponder & master the red thirst, while battling with their inevitable embrace by the black rage
>perhaps this long rest is as much for study as to stave off the black rage, so that they may prepare themselves better for its embrace, in this the “realm of rage”, their dreams, conversing with the blood of sanguinius within, & maybe even further visions from sanguinius himself, as well as another darker figure: the Black Angel they know as the Dragon, through which said blood they commune in spell bound pondering, only to be woken by war.
>this could side step the black rage in other ways too: by not pondering battles on their eve, instead being awoken in the midst of battle, they may actually increase or decrease the chance of the black rage embracing them (could go either way, irrelevant of what the Sons of the Dragon actually believe).
>also, by constantly dreaming of approaching battles &/or their dead Primarch, they may be “the hulk” chapter of the blood angels: always raging, & so have “better” mastery of their more intimately familiar/embraced flaws.
You can say the scouts & chaplains (+ mortal thralls) are the only ones liable to be awake at any given time, tending to their brothers “tombs”.
>>
>>82579886
If you go with this, maybe dreadnaughts are thought as tombs for failures, those embraced too early by the black rage, or fallen before they could be embraced at all. They may be the only ones actually awake, along with the neophyte scouts, when not actively in battle. Tending to their chapters crypt-ships with the neophytes mortal thralls, & servitors
Dying after the enlightenment brought from the blood of sanguinius, the black rage, may be their ultimate goal they seek as a chapter, even as their members wholly seek to each fully earn its blessings before their time comes (maybe only veterans or above are considered truly “worthy” to consider such blessings at all, anything less getting shoved in redemptor dreads).
The black rage could be seen as sanguinius & the dragon trying to converse with them beyond the violent end of reality, crumbling their minds & possessing their bodies with its revelations.
Mephiston is probably held EXTREMELY high regard by these guys, as they too wish to master the black rage & fully understand their blessings from beyond.
To bad he’s not talking, but maybe that just makes the Sons of the Dragon even more zealous in their astral projecting dream journeys through the blood of the primarch & his rage calling them from beyond infinity.

>The Exsanguinator is both a sophisticated medical device and close quarters weapon, used by Sanguinary Priests to harvest the gene-seed of fallen comrades.
>When a Battle-Brother falls in combat, it is the duty of the Sanguinary Priests to either restore him or safeguard his genetic heritage for future Battle-Brothers, storing it away in the Exsanguinator.
Maybe black company &/or dreads in this chapter are considered chalice bearers/alter boys/medical assistants to the sanguinary priests.
They get the some of the duds, and the responsibility of making more Sanguinius blood (by drinking more blood themselves).
>>82580733
Besides losing his wings, do they describe how sanguinius was killed?
>>
>>82580795
They ... probably have a veey depressing version of his death.
But uttermost, they have in their tales that they failed horribly.

Also anyone have ideas for helms, pauldrons, a geberal look of their armors ?

>> specially constructed golden sarcophagi of the Blood Angels. These life-giving marvels of arcane technology were master-crafted pieces of machinery, so advanced that even a Techmarine could not fully fathom the intricacies of its workings. These sarcophagi were used in the IX Legion's ritual of transforming an Aspirant from a stunted, radioactive Baal tribesman into a Blood Angel Astartes; their restructured bodies and features taking on a beauty in the course of their metamorphosis that echoed that of their angelic forebear.
So there’s presidence for them take after, maybe this chapters coffins are “given to them at birth” so speak, when they are made into prospect marines.
Also, just another idea: what if on top of their effective immortality as marines, they also have an inherited immortality in their gene seed that they tap into during their dreams?
IE, they channel whatever their predecessors could glean on the subject from their connection through a shared geneseed, like a focus in divination, the tank/coffin they rest in being the crystal ball, & their blood/tank fluids being the pooling substance that gives the ephemeral blotting visions form/meaning/a presence in their dreaming minds.
They look more and more like the composite conscious/being of their geneseed ancestors and ultimately sanguinius the longer they live, but due to the chapters “obsessionquirks/predilections”, they typically become twisted by the twin curses they bare before they can fulfill their progenitors facade/being.
Sort of a chasing sang in dreams(or spirit) but are going about it a funky if prophetic apt &/or parallel way to the main bloodangels by embracing the rages broken up by ceaseless meditation on said subjects & subsequent divinations & studies.

>feudal world ruled by distant sleepy vampire marines
>but it’s also a pleasure planet
>and the PDF are a righteous, if undisciplined, (mechanized) combat army
They really are vampire thralls in space lol. Practically ghouls from vtm.
Another suggestion for their name: besides the Spawn, I suggest their name be the Spawn of Ichor, or the Lords of Ichor, since it seems like they are the provisional rulers/stewards while the true masters (our requiem loving & reclusive vampire marines) are away (which is effectively always, even when they’re actually there).

Isn’t the PDF for a pleasure world and ot for Transylvania

Ok, I had no absolute idea how to make these guys, but since they are closer to the character of Dracula than the Blood Angels, I did these 3 heads for now.

As for helmets and armor, anyone have suggestioms besides the Bram Stoker's Dracula one ?
And do they uses the pelts and other stuff of their animal companions? Do3s élite units wear peculiar helms shaped like dragon heads? Or wear something like the skull of some dragon-like creature ?

It’s kind of a cool twist for such violent inhuman space monsters.
Their planet is a paradise resort they want no part in! There’s some kind of symbolism there I’m sure…

>>82581250
Never rolled for their pets, so who know what their pelts are like.
Either batlike and/or space armadillos from what I read.

I'll propose a few points that still have not been discussed

what's the Sons of the Dragon view on Primaris marines? Since they are so skechty and isolated I think they would not get a huge amount of greyshields if they get any to begin with.

Where is their system located? What's it's name, how many planets are there besides Blitz and "Transylvania" (I hope this one is a placeholder name) etc.

Did they partake in the Indomitus crusade?
>>

>what's the Sons of the Dragon view on Primaris marines?
>Did they partake in the Indomitus crusade?
I’m guessing they didn’t hear about either until very recently in *current* lore.
If they did hear of them, they probably didn’t care too much, especially when it was believed Primaris couldn’t be embraced by the black rage: they probably saw them as dead ends in the bloodline.
Maybe they were “at Baal”, in the same capacity the Knights of Blood were before they became a big feature in the BL books: just skirting the edges of their cousins gathering & sitting balls deep in tyranid flooded voids of space.
> Where is their system located?
Idk, probably nihilus given how grim and dreary they seem to be.
> What's it's name?
Should probably reflect the cold nature of their world, maybe have to do with or evocative of cryosleep or frostbite.
They are sleepy leeches after all.

>Never rolled for their pets, so who know what their pelts are like.
Since vampires normally control vermin writ large, perhaps their war beasts share in their vampiric and morphological nature: that is they consume the blood the marines & so change, along with perhaps age
>new born war beast: armadillo/rat tier, live on animal/mortal blood
>adolescent warbeast: armadillo rat, but wolf sized, consumes the blood of neophyte scout marines/their handlers
>adult: winged armadillo bats the size of people, consume drops of blood siphoned from the entombed battle brothers themselves, the vapors of their dreams, the soma of the red rage
>ancient war beasts: lived for so long, and on a diet supplemented by the corpses (sans gene seed) of dead battle brothers, that they swell to enormous size& are twisted by the chapters twin blood born curses (basically becomi terrorgheists)
>>
>>82584543
>>82584946
Also, when they first were given Primaris, assuming they were (& that they didn’t turn them away), they might have actually been the first to find out they are susceptible to the twin rages of the legion.
>tfw they conduct terrible tortures & “Russian Sleep Experiment” tier tests & trails on their early Primaris, literally trying to drive them into manic rages & warp vision haunted narcolepsy that can only be cured the siren call of bloodshed & war
Only reason no one else found out Primaris are susceptible to the Blood Angel gene-flaws when they did is because, well they don’t talk much >>82526256 and are a chapter of reclusive shut in Nosferatu.

Possible names based of frostbite for their home world (via google translate :p):

Pruina-Mordere seems the best
