>What is fight club?
Actual games on /tg/. Post character images, stat them and then have them fight other characters in an arena. The goal is just to show off games you think are cool with waifus and/or husbandos.

>What can I do?
You got a game you think is cool? Stop arguing on the internet about it and come show us how it works. You got a character you want to see in action? Give us a sheet in the thread. You got a waifu you want statted? Post her! Provide a bit of context if there is any to be had.

This reminds me of the early internet craze for fightfic, with multiple-authored massive fighting game and anime crossovers.
We had the Dream Tournament, Ultimate Video Rumble, Ultrarage, Neofighters, the Fiction Fighters Clash... in many ways spiritual literary predecessors to Smash Brothers and Saltybet.

http://www.mtcffultra.com/
https://www.fanfiction.net/u/6510350/TeamUVR

A lot of it is lost media now, but you can get the idea from what's been saved. Some of it was decided by reader votes.

I think the ideas used here might work for /tg/ fight club, like the power divisions, belts, and some of the rings and battlegrounds.

Ladies and gentleman of the Fight Club! It is my pleasure to reveal to you the fruit of our bookie's efforts: betting odds for the champion of the upcoming tournament! Without further ado -

>Championship Odds
>Usagi 6.6
>Anna or Morry 10.2
>Cameron, Annabel Proudchest, Grishnak, Tsuki, or Beulah 13.8
>Marcia, Nito, Rusalka, Jones, Mizuki, or February 17.4
>Steve or Hyacinth 21

We cordially invite all of you to place your bets! Bets on the Championship will be accepted until the beginning of the first fight. Don't let this opportunity pass you by!

We will be back to announce the opening date of the tournament as soon as preparations are complete. Stay tuned!

https://gitlab.com/WhiteZhark/fight-club/-/wikis/Betting
>>
>>82529400
This brings up a question I've had for a while now.
Anons, if I make a Hunger Games inspired website that "plays itself" with tabletop-like rules, and users interact with it by making and statting out contenders who may be picked as tributes, then by placing bets to try and get more money, and using money they have to hedge their bets by sending gifts like the "sponsors"...would I be able to make threads about it without getting banned?
Or would I get sent to shitty /v/ because it's a game on a computer, and even though it's tabletop-like it's off-site and plays itself?
>>
>>82529442
No way of knowing man
>>
>>82528983
Usagi is a nice meme character and would be a complete joke in a normal campaign, but in the context of the arena Berserk is bordering on being an advantage.
>>
>>82528754
This is sort of an ongoing thing with GURPS, yeah. The numbers, if you run them, are constructed around never going above strength 12. In a fantasy campaign, nobody is retard enough to buy less than strength 12 unless they have some really autistic, specific concept in mind. So Marcia winds up being actually insanely competent in a 'historical humans only,' sort of way, and comically underpowered in a fantasy environment.

She just needs a point or two in sword-aspected striking strength or something. It's a little cheese, but something I'd generally allow as part of a martial style if your strength is low and staying there.
>>
So I'm just supposed to post an image, and some autistic will stat them in whatever system they're currently running this in?
>>
>>82530007
May. We've sort of reached a tipping point where there are enough fighters the people left running it are focusing on actually doing the fights.
Though I think we're also picking up enough people learning GURPS for this specific purpose there are several people just making characters as well, so who knows.
>>
>>82530007
You could stat and run a game, rather than just wait for others
>>
>>82530032
But that's work, if I wanted to put forth effort and time I'd run a campaign.
>>
>>82529188
>because the last time I tried contributing I got told to fuck off

I never told you to "fuck off", you had just spammed the thread with 6 images in a row. So all I said was "Bro, you need to chill" as in don't spam the Fight Club thread with art when people are trying to have discussions and run Matches.

>>82536883
It started off with "Anon sees waifu art thread, snaps that there's no fucking games on /tg/, and decides to make it into a half-assed character creation thread, then has the character fight raptors on audience suggestion out of boredom."

It sort of evolved from there because people liked it, then started submitting their own characters, and now there's a whole roster of them. The idea having sort of evolved to a 'show off combat in any game' sharethread coupled with a fighting tournament run in GURPS with the most popular stuff that's happened so far.
>>
One notification and one question for our dear audience.
>Notification
I am going to be focusing most of my attention on the tournament in the coming days, so while we will still be accepting submissions, reviews and approvals might become temporarily sparse. New submissions will still be added to the Pending section of the Queue when time permits.
>Question
I was the Arena Master for Elizabeth vs John:
https://archive.4plebs.org/tg/thread/82481861/#q82520446
I would like feedback about the level of detail. I did my best to cover all the mechanical nuances of their actions in the spoiler text. Did the audience find that interesting and helpful, or unnecessary? I actually enjoy this level of documentation but if the audience doesn't care I may cut it down a bit to save time.
>>
>>82537358
The mechanical documentation is nice added detail, and let's people figure out what's being used when especially if the character has some added moves that mere narrative doesn't quite elaborate on. You can keep going with it if you want, or just cut it out if you think it might bog things down. Up to you, but I like it.

Shield Knight anon, I just got around to looking over the sheet. Couple things to note:
>Signature Gear
This should technically be forbidden as it's a way to exceed the $5000 cap, but since you still stayed under there's no problem. I have added a note about Signature Gear to the rules.
>Power Grappling
This doesn't do anything under the A New Take on Grappling (Pyramid 34) rules. Both ST and DX are used for all grapples.
>Powerslams and Suplexes
I haven't read the above grappling rules myself thoroughly enough to know if this is useful under them, but you might want to check just in case.
>Pacifism
You can only have one version of Pacifism. You might consider Charitable as a replacement.
>Timed Defense
The specialization is by combat skill, in this case simply Shield.
>Dual Weapon Defense
This also needs to be specialized by combat skill (Shield, Buckler, or Broadsword in this case). It also appears that if you want to have no penalties for either weapon then you need two copies of this technique, one for each weapon in use.
>technique costs
I see that you are using a custom advantage to adjust for the halved technique costs which is good but I think you're still overcharging yourself. Here's how I would do it:
>set skill points in each technique to zero
>set custom advantage to give the total skill point bonus you want to each
>set custom advantage to cost half as much as total skill points granted
>half points round up
I'll probably add that as a mini-guide to the Rules as well.
>Lifting ST
Unless it's supernatural (in which case it should have a power modifier) this requires the Special Exercises perk.

>>82542963
>Unless it's supernatural (in which case it should have a power modifier) this requires the Special Exercises perk
You have an actual robot with a laser gun in the arena.
You have a fighter using Special Exercises instead of the proper full Advantage to justify some pretty serious deviation from normal human parameters.
And finally, you have a fighter who has Lifting ST already.
>>
>>82545516
>You have an actual robot with a laser gun in the arena.
It's mana powered which is reflected by a modifier.
>You have a fighter using Special Exercises instead of the proper full Advantage to justify some pretty serious deviation from normal human parameters.
Original AM took pity and used her as she was but she's still officially pending as a Challenger until that's revised.
>And finally, you have a fighter who has Lifting ST already.
Ocylae has only one level of Lifting ST and I approved her with that before we had settled on a rule. She's grandfathered in at this point (just like Morry's 17 Spear skill with Weapon Bond) but future submissions will need Special Exercises.
>>
>>82545591
Actually fair and fine, OK (except the robot, unless you plan to have no-mana arenas).
>>
>>82542963
Using the standard wealth rules; for tl4 you start with 2k and thus need 3x signature gear to get max.
Or do we start with the max from the start ?
>>
>>82546497
No-Mana arenas would be a pretty harsh screw-you to magic users so probably not, but individual Challengers can surely take antimagic/antimana abilities which would definitely apply. If they couldn't the mana modifier would basically be pointless.

>>82546578
The Rules aren't clear, so I apologize. It is indeed the case that each Challenger has been starting with $5,000 but that they are also not allowed to exceed that amount by any means. I will rewrite the rule to leave no error.

This is an improvement. New notes:
>Sheet Settings
Go to sheet settings and turn on Use Multiplicative Modifiers. It's part of the rules we're using and will save you some points.
>Super modifier
This isn't a particularly meaningful modifier because it's so generic and this isn't a supers setting. If you want Shield Knight's special abilities to be from an internal font of power, I recommend changing it to Biological, Chi, or Psionic. If it's external, you could consider Moral - it fits with his Charitable disadvantage already. Be sure to look at what those modifiers entail in Powers.
>Heroic Feats of Health
I overlooked it the first time but this should have a power modifier applied to it as well since it's clearly not a normal ability.
>extra points
You might consider giving him Shoves and Tackles if he plans to Shield Rush (and I can't imagine that he won't).

Otherwise it looks good. Looking forward to the next revision.

Steve is rocking the two-handed pistol stance, and begins aiming (+2 from his pistol Acc, and another +1 for being braced), taking a step forward.

>Round 9
Marcia continues slowly advancing.
Steve continues to aim (Another +1, +4 total)

Steve steps and aims once more (back at the max +5) although the fence is providing some obstruction. He holds off for now

>Round 19
Marcia moves right up to the column, effectively having full cover
Steve steps and Waits for Marcia to pop up

>Round 20
Having gotten safely within striking distance, Marcia gets up from her crouch and goes for a shield rush. Steve tries to shoot her in the face as she does. Marcia expected this and moves nimbly outside the line of fire as she charges. She critically succeeds the attack roll (13 - treat any penetrating damage as a major wound). The wind is knocked out of his lungs but Steve stays upright.

Steve attempts to unload into her face and ALSO CRITICALLY SUCCEEDS (6 - maximum normal damage). Only two shots hit due to the MoS being fairly small. One hits Marcia's face plate but the other finds bare flesh. Both hits still count as major wounds to the face though. Marcia fails the first and collapses. Since she is well into the negatives, she also makes 2 HT checks to avoid death. She passes both, but collapses to the ground stunned.

>Round 21
Marcia fails her HT check and passes out. Confronted with success for the first time in his life, Steve fails his Self-Control Roll for Post-Combat Shakes (Failed by one, final total 13) and gains a new quirk: Chauvinistic. "Y-Yeah, take that bitch, th-this is a man's competition" he stammers as they drag her unconscious body away

Depends. The average damage of .40 S&W is 9. IIRC, Marcia's helmet is DR 6, so her total skull DR is 8. She takes 4 injury and tests knockdown.
At the maximum damage of 14, 6 penetrates and she takes 24 damage and goes straight to death check 1.
But you're right, on any roll below the average, her helmet actually will bounce steve's gun.
That said, he hit her in the face, not the skull, so scratch two DR off but reduce the multiplier from 4x to 'only' 1.5x. The average damage of the shot that missed her cheek plates is still doing 13 injury, enough to send her straight to collapse. The max does 21 and has similar effect to the headshot through her helmet anyway.

Arena-goers both foul and fair! It is my privilege to announce that in less than 24 hours we will be holding the second match of our ongoing tournament, this time from the red side of the bracket!

On one side we have the Landsknecht Anna, crowd favorite and our very first Challenger! Anna has proven herself to be a skillful swordswoman and sports one of the better track records in the Arena. Foppish hat tilted jauntily to the side, she leans nonchalantly on the hilt of her greatsword. Anna whistles to herself cheerfully as her eyes wander the stands, worry nowhere to be found.

On the other side we have Grishnak Arm-Taker, the towering orcish wrestler! He has certainly lived up to his name, having taken the arms of both Jones and Marcia. Even now he cracks his knuckles and glares out across the Arena from behind the gate, promising that he'll "rip that sows's arms off" in repayment for the humiliating defeat he previously suffered at her hands.

The odds for this match are as follows:
>Anna 1.2
>Grishnak 1.5
>Draw 2.7

Bets will be accepted until the fight begins. Don't miss your chance to win a profit or recoup your losses! If you're not sure how to place a bet, please see this page:
https://gitlab.com/WhiteZhark/fight-club/-/wikis/Betting

As a final note, despite taking two bullets to the face at point-blank range, Marcia is in stable condition and will make a full recovery thanks to the tireless efforts of our Arena Medic. Look forward to seeing her again in the losers' pool!

And with that, this announcement is concluded. Thank you for your attention. See you tomorrow!

To anyone confused at the reference to taking Marcia's arm, please see this fight:

Later commentators simply failed to mention the presence of her new prosthetic arm.

Barring any dice abnormalities or interesting choice of tactics by the organizers, the match should proceed as follows:
>orc closes in, gets hit by a Wait
>orc gets hit by normal attack
>orc tries to grab, gets hit by Parry
>orc dies
>>
>>82554683
That's how the last one went, yeah.

is there any sort of armor a grappler can wear to avoid taking parry damage?

>>
>>82554761
Yes, any kind of normal armor.
Specifically, the limbs that might get hit on a parry are the limbs you use to attack, so you can specifically armor those.
>>
>>82555114
>>82554761
Anna probably does too much raw dmg for that to work
>>
>>82555129
Anna does 2d+4 on her highest damage roll.
That's an average of 11 damage, while you can potentially get DR 12 on your hands from base Low Tech.
The organizers use the significantly more defensive BFA fan rule, which allows you to have Dwarven Gauntlets for 13 DR or even higher if he doesn't mind a DX penalty or spends a lot on super-fancy ultra-thin under-layers gloves to wear under the gauntlets.

Alright guys, I'm going to make up a monster-hunter challenger complete with a variety of anachronistic technology. Other than making a dragon slaying recoiless rifle, what kind of trick weapons or gadgets should I try to fit in points (in GURPS)?

The glaive doesn't seem to cover the breadth I wanted to do with monster-hunting gadgets, but the Kinsect is an excellent addition; so I made up a custom spin on it mixed with scoutflies. The dracomite as I'm calling it is a bit on the weak side so far as actual health goes, but it has natural armor and traits that make it a hardy distraction.
Highlights:
Hilariously low damage, but a high feint skill.
A flying speed of 24.
Enough damage resistance to completely resist a (really mean) dragon's fire breath once half of the time and survive it over 80% of the time.

Issues:
Probably will explode if you shoot it with a handgun; or step on it too hard.
Point Value math is a mess when you have to do things like "Decreased Intelligence 6".

Correct. My group house-ruled it that the intelligence of pets or summons just 'doesn't matter,' unless it's exceptionally smart. The incentive gradient breaks otherwise, since the disad limit just means "There is no reason not to take a talking dog, ever."

Mechanical terms are capitalized. Total value goes in []. Modifiers go in {}. Collections of modifiers go in (). Rolls go in <>. Multiple actions are appended with +. | indicates opposition. = indicates outcome. * appended to a term indicates that it's actually something else being rolled, unknown to the character.

>Round 1
Anna and Grishnak burst out of their respective gates like race horses, both running full tilt to the West as if driven by Fate itself toward a bloody reunion. Their booted footsteps are drowned out by the din of the cheering audience.

Anna Speed [6] | Grishnak Speed [5.75] = Anna goes first. Anna would like to go in the same direction as Grishnak to take advantage of her greater Move ([7] to Grishnak's [5]) and gain the high ground, but she isn't confident she will be able to Hear his direction and thus chooses randomly <1> = West, Moving [7] hexes.
Grishnak is focused on vengeance and Overconfident, caring little for where precisely he meets with Anna as long as he gets to tear her arms off. He also chooses randomly <1> West, Moving [5] hexes. Lucky Anna.
Both decide to accelerate to High-Speed at the ends of their turns.

>Round 2~4
The audience leans forward in their seats as Anna and Grishnak tear across the Arena toward the stairs on the West side, eager to see who will arrive first. Anna's lighter frame proves to be superior in a contest of overland speed and she attains the stairs before Grishnak. After ascending several steps she spots the top of his hulking form over the stone crenellations, still not having quite arrived at the base of the staircase. Anna smiles to herself, pleased to have first pick of the terrain.

Both Anna and Grishnak are Moving Forward (defined as any of the three hexes on a character's front side) for multiple turns, allowing them to Sprint for {+20%} Move. Due to rounding this is only {+1} Move for both, resulting in Anna Move [8] and Grishnak Move [6]. Sprinting costs Fatigue Points if maintained for fifteen seconds or longer, but Anna and Grishnak will meet long before that point. Anna and Grishnak Sprint for several turns each. Grishnak briefly considers climbing directly up the wall instead of going for the stairs, but decides it would be too slow ([1 foot/2 seconds] for the equivalent of scaling an "ordinary mountain" in combat).

>Round 5
Anna takes the last few steps and dashes halfway across the raised platform, sliding one hand up the hilt of her greatsword and aligning it with her foe. Even as she does so Grishnak lumbers heavily up half the staircase on his side. Eyes narrowing as he focuses on Anna, he shouts, "I'll rip your arms off you stuck-up bitch!" Anna grunts in annoyance, seeing that she won't be able to head off Grishnak's ascent as handily as she thought.

Anna Sprints one last time before Decelerating, returning to her normal Move [7]. She uses Grip Mastery to change to a Defensive Grip on her Thrusting Greatsword, gaining Parry {+1} against attacks from the Front, Parry {-1} to attacks from the side, and {-2} Swing damage.
Grishnak Sprints up half the staircase, greatly hampered by the double movement cost for climbing stairs. Anna was as well, of course, but her greater Move helped a lot. Grishnak chooses to Decelerate as well so that he will not be obligated to Move again next turn.

>Round 6
Both fighters slow down as they approach, their speed dropping in proportion to their proximity like two magnets of the same pole. Catching their breaths, Anna and Grishnak size each other up with a needle-like acuity. Even Grishnak leaves off his usual comments and maintains a silence almost violent in its intensity. Even the crowd is submerged in the tension of the moment, quieting until the breathing of the combatants seems almost to echo across the Arena.

Anna Evaluates Grishnak for {+1} on attacks against him, giving up on cutting him off at the staircase and instead using her terrain advantage for other purposes. She considers using her Step to move backwards and maintain distance for further Evalutes, but Overconfidence [9] <11> triggers and dictates that she Step toward Grishnak instead.
Grishnak is in a slighlty awkward position. He wants to close the gap, but All-Out Defense (Dodge) would only allow him to climb one more step and Moving his full Move [5] would place him at the perfect distance for Anna's Thrusting Greatsword. Thankfully Anna decided to Step forward, so Grishnak is able to likewise Step one hex up the staircase and get in range for his own Evaluate without making himself an easy target.

>Round 7
Anna advances toward Grishnak carefully, but the orcish giant suddenly explodes into motion once more. He rushes up the stairs and bears down on Anna, getting uncomfortably close but keeping his up arms in a defensive posture. At this distance Anna must tilt her head back to see anything other than his enormous pectorals. The crowd is still held by the spell of the previous moment and waits with bated breath for exchange to bear fruit.

At this distance Anna considers going for a Committed Attack (Long), but decides losing her Parry would be suicidal. Instead she Steps forward and Evaluates once more, now at {+2} on attacks against Grishnak.
Grishnak continues to be in a difficult position. He first attempts to Discern (houserule, see Review later) whether Anna used Wait or Evaluate: Grishnak Per-based Brawling [14] <18> | Anna Greatsword [16] <15> = Grishnak can't tell, so that helps him little. Anna isn't reachable by anything but a Move and Attack, which is unlikely to land since its effective skill is capped at [9], {+1} for Evaluate (houserule), and forbids Retreating. All-Out Defense (Dodge) still only advances him one more stairstep due to the movement cost penalty. If he moves forward only one hex, Anna can Attack and Step back. If he stays where he is, Anna can Step forward and Attack. Grishnak must either commit to a dangerous and unlikely attack or give up on his Evaluate bonus and either Move or All-Out Defend (Dodge). Since Anna did not use a Wait against him at range in their first match, he chooses to simply Move [5] into Close Combat with her in order to close the gap. He doesn't have enough Move or the right position to take her Side, so he enters from one of her Front faces.

>Round 8
Anna hops back from Grishnak as she sweeps her greatsword upward in a rising diagonal arc. Grishnak slaps the blade aside and slides to Anna's right all in one fluid motion. The added momentum from his deflection throws off Anna's balance and she struggles to stabilize herself, unable to recover her stance. Grishnak sees his and opening presses in on her again, throwing his right fist in a barehanded punch and reaching out with his left toward her weapon arm. Somehow Anna is able to fling the flat of her blade into Grishnak's arm while stumbling backwards, avoiding both lines of attack. Grishnak roars in frustration: "That arm belongs to ME!"

Anna first Steps back to get out of Close Combat, positioning her right side hex toward a crenellation to protect it. She then attacks: Anna Greatsword Swing (Evaluate {+2}, Deceptive {-4}) [14] <10> | Grishnak Brawling Parry (Sideslip, Deceptive {-2}, Parrying Weapon Unarmed {-3}) [7] <4> = Grishnak Sideslips one hex and Critically Succeeds his Parry. This causes Anna to Critically Miss <7> = she can do nothing until her next turn and has {-2} Active Defenses until then.
Grishnak Steps into Close Combat again and Dual Weapon Attacks: Grishnak Brawling Punch (Deceptive {-2}) [13] <7> + Grishnak Wrestling Grab (Target: Arm {-1}, Deceptive {-2}) [11] <11> | Anna Greatsword Parry (Off-Balance {-2}, Defensive Grip {+1}, Deceptive {-1}, Retreat {+1}) [11] <6> + Anna Dodge (Off-Balance {-2}, Deceptive {-1}, Retreat {+3}) [10] <9> = Anna Parries Grishnak's Punch and Dodges his Grab, Retreating one hex backward. Normally she would get to make a free Attack against Grishnak's Arm due to successfully Parrying an Unarmed Attack, but because she is Off-Balance she can't take even free actions.
>>
>Round 9
Anna recovers her balance and nimbly takes another step away, keeping Grishnak at greatsword point. As she does so she curves her greatsword around in another sweeping arc, this time exploiting the small gap opened in Grishnak's defenses by his previous assault. The opportunity is too small for Grishnak himself to notice, let alone the audience, but Anna can see it clearly. Grishnak tries to slip forward and under the blade, but he misreads the attack and catches her greatsword full in his side. Seemingly oblivious to the pain, Grishnak continues forward doggedly. Once more he throws both meaty arms at Anna, but while he avoids getting his right sliced by Anna's parrying greatsword he finds no purchase with his grasping left and nothing to show for the massive gash in his side.

Since Anna successfully Defended last turn, she can now unleash her Counterattack: Anna Greatsword Swing (Counterattack, Deceptive {-4}) [12] <7> | Grishnak Dodge (Slip {+1}, Acrobatic Dodge {Acrobatics [13] <11> = +2}, Deceptive {-2}, Counterattack {-1}) [9] <11> = Anna hits Grishnak's torso for cut (Defenisve Grip {-2}) [2d+2] <10> | DR [2] = [8] damage * Wounding Modifier {1.5} = [12] injury. That's greater than Grishnak HP [19] / 2, so it's a Major Wound. Grishnak HT Knockdown (High Pain Threshold {+3}) [15] <13> = Grishnak resists Knockdown due to his High Pain Threshold. He's down to HP [7] but ignores Shock penalties due again to High Pain Threshold.
Grishnak really needs to land a grab or he's going to get kited out forever, so he Steps into Close Combat again and unleashes another Dual Weapon Attack, except this time the first one is a Feint: Grishnak Brawling Feint [15] <16> + Grishnak Wrestling Grab (Deceptive {-2}, Targeted: Arm {-1}) [11] <11> | Anna Parry* (Greatsword Counterfeint) [16] <12> + Anna Dodge (Retreat {+3}, Deceptive {-1}) [12] <6> = Grishnak's Feint fails and Anna Dodges the Grab once more, Retreating one hex.

>Round 10
Anna's found her rhythm now. She continues to back away from Grishnak as she stifles his advance with a flurry of steel. Once more she takes advantage of Grishnak's imperfect guard, greatsword flying in to carve another great crevasse in Grishnak's side. Though he tried to avoid it, from the audience angle it appears as if he simply did not care. Grishnak pushes forward and invests all his momentum into the next onslaught, abandoning any semblance of defensive posture. One fist swoops through empty air but this time his left reaches its target, securing Anna's arm in an iron grip. Anna's eyes widen in surprise as Grishnak roars in delight: "I'LL RIP YOUR ARM OFF!"

At this point Anna could turn around, run away, and wait to see if Grishnak will bleed out on his own. He's not low enough to fall unconscious yet, but theoretically a couple bad bleed rolls could bring him down after a minute of running around. It's a long shot, though, and that's not how Anna rolls anyway. She stays the course with a repeat of last turn and Grishnak has little choice but to do the same: Anna Greatsword Swing (Counterattack, Deceptive {-4}) [12] <8> | Grishnak Dodge (Slip {+1}, Acrobatic Dodge {Acrobatics [13] <13> = +2}, Deceptive {-2}, Counterattack {-1}) [9] <13> = another Torso hit for Anna, so cut (Defenisve Grip {-2}) [2d+2] <9> | DR [2] = [7] damage * Wounding Modifier {1.5} = [10] injury. Another Major Wound: Grishnak HT (High Pain Threshold {+3}) [15] <9> = Grishnak resists Knockdown. He is now at [-3] HP and once more ignores Shock penalties. Continued next post.
>>
Grishnak must now begin every turn by rolling for consciousness: Grishnak HT [12] <6> = Grishnak stays conscious for the turn. Now it's just a matter of time until he passes out, though, so he must consider sacrificing defense to try and end this fight before it's too late. He Steps forward into Close Combat once more, but this time he has no choice but to go All-Out: Grishnak Brawling Punch (All-Out: Determined {+4}, Deceptive {-6}) [13] <14> + Grishnak Wrestling Grab (All-Out: Determined {+4}, Deceptive {-4}, Targeted: Arm {-1}) [13] <13> | Anna Greatsword Parry (Retreat {+1}, Defensive Grip {+1}, Deceptive {-3}) [12] <12> + Anna Dodge (Retreat {+3}, Deceptive {-2}) [10] <15> = Grishnak misses his Punch but finally Grabs Anna's (weapon) arm! Since Anna is Grabbed, her Retreat doesn't actually allow her to leave the current hex, so she remains in Close Combat with Grishnak.

>Round 11
Anna's no coward, but she's seen what happened to the other Challengers Grishnak has gotten his cyclopean hands on. She senses that she has but the briefest window to escape while Grishnak is still getting into position. Mustering all her strength, Anna hurls herself backward while simultaneously slamming the blunt base of her blade against the orc's wrist. It's enough to shake his tenuous grip, his sausage-like fingers sliding from her arm as Grishnak snarls angrily. Anna falls back into a hasty combat stance a few feet away, clearly having not quite recovered from her struggle. As Grishnak begins to lunge after her, his movements suddenly become sluggish; he stumbles and crashes into the ground face-first at her feet, spilling blood onto the stone platform.

Anna needs to get out of this grapple NOW or she's going to get arm-taken, assuming Grishnak doesn't pass out this turn. This is by far her best opportunity to escape since Grishnak just used All-Out Attack, lowering his Grapple score, so she does an All-Out of her own. Anna Armed Grapple Escape (Base {Greatsword [16] + ST [12] + 3 * SM [0]}, All-Out: Determined {+4}, Free Body Part 1 {-3}) [29] <8> | Grishnak Wrestling Control Body Part (Base {Wrestling [14] + ST [16] + 3 * SM [1]}, All-Out Penalty {-4}, One Hand {-3}) [26] <9> = Anna is able to free her right arm from Grishnak. She then Steps one hex back from him (houserule, see Review later).
Grishnak checks for consciousness again: Grishnak HT [12] <15> = Grishnak passes out. Grishnak Direciton <3> = He falls over to the East, into Anna's hex.

>Aftermath
The judge stands up and pronounces Anna the victor; the gong sounds once more, signalling the end of the fight. The crowd bursts into a cacophany of cheering and applause. Anna stands still amid the outcry for a few moments, staring at Grishnak's fallen form and breathing raggedly. She begins to shake visibly, teeth chattering, swaying in place. After another moment she collapses to the side, unconscious. Medics rush into the Arena to attend to them both.

Anna Post-Combat Shakes [9] <14> = Fright Check (Post-Combat Shakes Failure {+5}) <20> = Faint [4d minutes] <18> + FP Loss [1d] <2> = Anna passes out from the combat for 18 minutes and loses 2 FP. Anna Direction <4> = Anna falls to the Southeast. Anna HT Faint Recovery [12] <6> = she wakes up as soon as 18 minutes have passed. The outcome of Grishnak's injuries will be accounted for later.
Grishnak receives 3 points. Anna receives 2 points. Bets will be settled later.

Holy fuck that was a good fight

>Review
I have been told many times about the weaknesses of unarmed combat in GURPS many times, but now I have seen it with my own eyes. The biggest issue is that while Anna could Retreat backwards for the full bonus, Grishnak could not afford to do so without sacrificing the ability to safely attack on his next turn. His only choices were to either Slip forward to stay next to Anna or to alternate turns between All-Out Defense: Dodging forward and Attacking. A Grishnak that has caught his opponent is a terrifying beast in most circumstances. A Grishnak in the process of trying to catch his opponent is somewhat pathetic.

Of course, there were other factors at play. Grishnak's skills are subpar compared to Anna's and he wore no armor. Even though he could attack twice with Dual-Weapon Attack, Anna's defenses are decent enough to get away most of the time and an armed Parry could potentially cripple an arm, though it didn't actually occur in this fight. It also seemed like she was also rolling better in general. Perhaps Grishnak should have opened with an All-Out Grab. Anna was able to get away from the one grab, but had she not gone All-Out she wouldn't have, and the next turn could have been trouble. He could probably have afforded to tank a hit in the process given his high HP and High Pain Threshold.

Before this match Anna learned and maxxed out the Counterattack technique. This provided her a substantial advantage in the exchanges. Since she was likely to successfully Parry and Counterattack imposes no penalty once maxxed, it was basically another free layer of penalties to Grishnak's defenses. Between Counterattack, Deceptive, and Grishnak's need to Slip in order to approach her, Anna had no trouble hitting Grishnak at all even without Feint. Since she hits like a truck and Grishnak only has Tough Skin for DR, that was bad news for the orcish wrestler.
>>
>Review continued

This time I encountered many more rules issues than I did in my last two fights, and each potentially held a large impact on the outcome. The rest of this review will be dedicated to covering these instances and how I ruled on them for future reference.

Firstly, I was informed that Overconfidence isn't really something that should trigger in combat for sound but cautious tactics, but rather when acting with near-detrimental levels of cowardice. The disadvantage that would properly drive one to suicidally aggressive tactics (not counting Berserk) is On the Edge.

A couple of issues also arose regarding the obviousness of Wait and Evaluate maneuvers (and by extension Aim, though obviously that wasn't a concern in this fight). For one, it's unclear how one could really tell if an opponent is Waiting or Evaluating. Both entail a focused examination of the opponent and only allow a Step. Perhaps Waiting might have subtle tells in the form of muscle flexation and posture, but in practice it should be difficult to differentiate the two. The mechanical issue is that if one can tell the difference, there's no reason to ever approach within trigger range of a Waiting opponent who has been stacking Evaluates. By RAW, you can simply stay out of his range and he will lose his Evaluate bonuses fruitlessly. Even if he Waits again next turn, he will have lost a significant advantage.

To solve this, I'm using a new houserule. If a character uses a (combat-related) Wait, Evaluate, or Aim, discerning it is an instantaneous quick contest. The discerner makes a Per-based combat skill roll and the one who took the action makes a normal combat skill roll. Victory for the discerner reveals the maneuver; any other outcome and it remains hidden. Either way the details of a Wait are not revealed.
>>
Say I wanted to stat up a character using Pathfinder. I looked around and can't find how hit dice and ability scores are supposed to be done.
Is it just roll for HD for each level or is it use the average or whatever you want?
Same with abilities, there are about 10 different ways to get ability scores in Pathfinder, do you just pick one or is there a standard?
Sorry if these are answered somewhere and I was just too retarded to find them.
>>
>Review 3
A second related houserule was also suggested to me. It seems a bit strange that Waiting to attack, which again requires an intense study of your opponent, causes you to lose your Aim or Evaluate bonuses if it goes untriggered. The houserule would be to allow one to retain accrued Aim and Evaluate bonuses against an opponent if a Wait to Attack against them goes untriggered. I'm still considering this rule, but it seems reasonable. It's hard to imagine that, say, a sniper, would lose out on his Aim bonuses if he was Waiting for a specific circumstance to pull the trigger on his target.

The question of random hit locations also came up. Basic Set states that any attack may have its hit location left up to chance, but in practice that seems strictly better than defaulting to torso in the majority of situations. It means that you have a solid chance of striking a hit location with devastating rider effects at no additional penalty compared to targeting the torso. Worst case scenario you simply hit a more armored limb. I am considering restricting random hit locations (at least for my own games) to special situations, such as explosives and wild swings.

Another matter of import was the effect of Critical Miss Result 7 on Retreats. It says that it prevents all actions, even free actions, but implicitly does not prevent Active Defenses since it penalizes them. The question then becomes: is Retreating an "action" or not? I asked everywhere I could and got as many different answers as there are interpretations. My conclusion is that, at least by RAW, it does not forbid Retreats because, according to B377, Retreating is an "option" that you can add to an Active Defense; therefore, if Active Defenses are not forbidden, then neither is Retreat unless stated otherwise. Stun is an example of a condition that both penalizes Active Defenses and explicitly forbids Retreats, setting the precedent for specificity. I will be adding this as a clarification to the Rules.
>>
>Review Final
The last issue to arise was the strange combination of All-Out Attack and Escape in ANTOG. Under ANTOG, Escaping a Grapple counts as an "attack", and therefore you can gain a +4 on it with All-Out Attack. A probably unintended side effect of this is that, by RAW, you cannot Step away from your opponent if you All-Out Escape because All-Out Attack only permits movement toward your opponent. It is certainly strange to imagine straining against an opponent's grasp with all your might and bursting free, only to somehow have all your momentum directed at him rather than away. I therefore ruled that if the escapee succeeds at their attempt, they are still permitted a Step even if they used All-Out to do it.

Alright, that's it for this fight! Medical outcomes, bets, scores, and roster entries will be updated at some point in the near future. Thanks for watching, dear audience! Until next time!

Alright this is a hell of a cheat; but I got the little bugger TECHNICALLY under half of a character's point value, while TECHNICALLY only using half of the point value again as disadvantage granted points

Why the technicals? It required ignoring point costs for attribute changes entirely. I traded STR for DEX at point-for-point (losing 2 pts in the process) and arbitrarily dropped the intelligence to animal levels for no points. Additional correct disadvantages were applied for no points back (no fine manipulators, cold blooded).

QED: This is our 12pt cost buddy for our WIP monster hunter. Say hello and/or critique as desired.
>>
>>82566132
You get +1 to an ability score every 4 levels.
How HD work is entirely up to the GM really. "Maximum roll at level 1, roll the rest," is pretty common.
>>
>>82566132
We don't seem to have a standard for Pathfinder yet.
To keep things fair it would probably be best to do point-buy for ability scores (maybe 20) and use the average for HP per HD.
>>
>>82566540
I would second going fixed numbers wherever possible (possibly even a standard array for abilities) not just for balance but because it also makes it a lot easier to churn out characters. But ultimately it's up to whoever runs the first fight to set the precedent
>>
>>82566540
alright that sounds good, I'll do 20 points and average HD, thanks man
>>
>>82566296
Sorry, I didn't read his question thoroughly enough. I thought it was more about how to do point buy and not how many points etc.

>>82566540

Yeah, we don't have a standard yet since there's only been one Pathfinder AM so far. I can add 20 points and average HP to the rules for now.

>The incentive gradient breaks otherwise, since the disad limit just means "There is no reason not to take a talking dog, ever."
There are problems with pets as Allies, but this is not one of them.
It the game itself, racial adjustments do not count against the disadvantage limits. They might in the arena for "balance" reasons, but in normal GURPS nothing is stopping your dog from being stupid.
>>
>>82566958
I made my point really poorly, apologies. If IQ3 is worth -140pts, either the limit matters, so why would I do that, or it's part of a racial template, and now I have enough points to make Krypto the Wonder Dog, and why wouldn't I? I understand the answer is "Because that's not what you're trying to do," but the incentive systems of the game itself should not be tilting me towards justifying giving dogs laser vision or opting for a giant tiger instead.

Good gear. Based Anna pulls out another win
>>
>>82567079
I am very glad to hear that. Between all the rules hangups and my unfamiliarity with certain subsystems like Sprinting and Grappling it took basically all day. I did enjoy it though, and digging up these rules issues is actually a good thing since it will lead to a better system once rectified. As for the mechanical details, I'll take any feedback people wish to offer. I came up with a notation that I think works reasonably well, but it does get a little cluttered. I will probably make some adjustments to it and I might start putting it on a newline by itself for clarity in the future.

>>82567016
A systematic way to handle the IQ/point problem of animals would be good, but I don't know if it's possible. The first idea that comes to mind is a statline where, say, 4 IQ is the base instead of 10 that's used for animals.

>>82566879
Some of them are already on the Rules page but others I have in a private document. I haven't merged the two because some of my changes I haven't confirmed with any other Arena Master, but at the very least I can add my txt to the Resources folder. You would have to look at both that and the Rules to see them all.

>>82566119
Glad you liked it anon. Even running it got tense when Grishnak finally landed the grab while on the verge of passing out.

>>82567146

>I have been told many times about the weaknesses of unarmed combat in GURPS many times, but now I have seen it with my own eyes
While I consider this a welcomed feature rather than a problem, do also keep in mind that 1 fight is not a valid sample size, especially as you said the fighters were built for fluff, not for a purpose.
Also, your orc didn't use any advanced tactics and I'm not sure how valid some of the rules calls were (I'm not familiar with the Pyramid article you're using, but for example Armed Grapple cannot be used to escape and AoA does not affect the quick contest against Escaping).

Yeah Anna's not made the same way. Anna you could actually play a campaign with but Usagi having 16 Strength (when Anna's was the max for a girl at the time) and Berserk which has upsides and downsides in a real game but just makes you an unkillable retard in the arena changes things. The characters were just created at different times and Anna is the OG. Still basically cut Usagi's head off in the first match
>>
>>82567016
>why wouldn't I?
And why not?
If you want a dog that's just a dog, pay the absolute minimum for it. If you want a dog that's valued as high as a human, there should be a reason for that - e.g. undying and unflinching loyalty, better-than-average specimen, even super powers.
It seems like you're complaining that Allies has consistent pricing.
Finally, Allies and everything else NPC related is handled by the GM (with player input), not by the player so nothing is stopping the GM from applying their own judgement on top of everything else. A massive, plate-armor-wearing, unflinchingly-loyal mastiff can be just as useful as a cowardly but cunning squire, even if one is valued at 12CP and the other at 37CP and they are both Ally(Always, 25%). After all, what matters for the CP cost of a player advantage or disadvantage is what value it would have in actual play.

True, it's only one fight and Grishnak isn't totally optimized. At the same time the reach problem is pretty harsh and I don't see a good way around it with mundane abilities.
>advanced tactics
If you have any suggestions I'm all ears. I am not as familiar with GURPS as some and it's quite possible I missed something. I would hate to throw a fight due to ignorance.
>grappling stuff
The rules for that are from A New Take on Grappling from Pyramid 34. It specifically allows for using All-Out Attack for bonuses in grappling quick contests, even to Escape. As for the Armed Grapple, it looks like I may have made a (fortunately non-impactful) mistake. I had misread the entry in ANTOG for Armed Grappling / Armed Grab and interpreted it as meaning you could use weapon skill with the Armed Grab technique for grappling quick contests, but on reread I see that it says that the grappling skill is "limited" to weapon skill, implying that you still need a normal grappling skill even when armed grappling. That will be good to know going forward since it means Anna is actually a really awful grappler since she has no grappling skills despite knowing Armed Grab. The more you know!

>>82567223
Very true, though I don't think Usagi was intentionally optimized. It's still very much anyone's game. Even Steve won his first match!

How much ammo does Steve have left? I know he was on his second clip and then a few shots before his last fight. I just feel like he doesn't really get penalised at all so its basically just someone with a glock mag dumping people using medieval technology more often than not
>>
>>82567233
Anna has Judo at 14, though.
>>
>>82567265
That's a good question, though please bear in mind that Steve has barely over 33 points in an Arena filled with 100+ point characters. I will put investigating Steve's armory on my to do list.

>>
>>82567233
>specifically allows for using All-Out Attack for bonuses
The point was it doesn't penalize your own rolls to resist the escape of someone you have grabbed, since those are not a defense.
>Anna is actually a really awful grappler since she has no grappling skills
She has Judo 14, which she can use for "instead of your DX for any DX roll made in close combat except to draw a weapon or drop a shield".

All in all, Anna is a broadly capable mercenary without being too much of a meme, and also has some fun details that contribute to RP.
Her post-combat shakes are just free points however, unless Fright gives lasting penalties (and since losing body parts does not, I don't see why Fright should).

Let's meet the fighters and open the bets for our next Blue Bracket bout!
Cameron Ingerlund, wielder of the Unbinned Blade, has been copping relentless bantz from the lads after losing to a fookin monkey, and is desperate for his first win.
The mysterious woman known only by the moniker "Nito-Ryu fangirl" (and by some hecklers as "Bunny's Bitch" due to her 0-2 record against crowd favourite Usagi) is also eager to prove herself.
>Nito 1.50
>Cameron 2.30
>Draw 3.0
SPECIAL BETS (win with full HP)
>Nito Flawless victory 2.80
>Cameron Flawless victory 3.50
>>
>>82567449
At this point I thought it was canon that her name actually is just Nito Ryu.

>>82567352
ANTOG specifically states that Escape is an "attack", meaning grappling attempts to resist it are a "defense". Not only that, but any grappling maneuver made in response to somebody's attempted action is considered a "defense" in ANTOG:
>Performing a technique with a Grappling Contest is considered an attack; resisting a grappling technique is a defense.
Escape is a a grappling technique that is resisted by an opposed grappling roll; ergo, resisting Escape attempts suffer the penalties for AoA specified in ANTOG.
>>
>>82567413
Berserk is a disadvantage, because it almost guarantees you will die after the first fight.
Although as >>82567232 points out, CP value should reflect value in actual play and a character who is immune to the negative effects of a disadvantage should get less CP out of it, I think it's fine to have these character quirks in the arena, especially since Berserk still limits you to only bad tactics - all Usagi's opponents need to do after she goes Berserk is to survive 1-2 turns since she'll be limited to AoA, MaA and Slam. Some examples:
>characters with high defenses (e.g. Ocylae) can try to outlast by making Telegaphic Defensive attacks and bleeding FP heavily into Feverish Defense; a single crit might prove fatal, but dice willing, they are almost statistically guaranteed to win
>characters with high reach and decent bulk can elect to use Comitted attacks and Retreat judiciously to force Usagi to keep using Slam or MaA because they will always be taking 3 steps per turn effectively
>>
>>82567506
After all the praise ANTOG gets, I did not expect it to have such a glaring and obvious bug front and center.
>>
>>82567518
If you're referring to the All-Out Escape can only let you move forward problem, I agree. If you mean that the penalties from AoA apply to resisting escape attempts, then I wonder what you consider a feature. It's clearly intentional from the way it not only broadly defines the active side in a grappling contest as an "attack" but also explicitly states that Escape is an "attack".

>>82567511
Ah yes, Extra Effort, that's something I don't think anybody has used yet.
>>
>>82567539
> If you mean that the penalties from AoA apply to resisting escape attempts, then I wonder what you consider a feature
>It's clearly intentional
Under normal circumstances, using an AoA grapple is a gamble, because your grapple is stronger, but you open yourself up to attacks.
Under ANTOG (or your interpretation of ANTOG at leaste), using AoA grapple is comedic, because not only do you open yourself up, you also make your grapple weaker and easier to escape from.
You are so focused on your grappling, that your grappling is shit.

I skipped over Moral because that was cheaper but that does fit the best. Also figured out using a talent, which frees up a couple of points and gives slightly more options.

I automatically read can't exceed (...) as can't exceed prerequisite skill. Every technique from MA can be improved, normally or through Technique mastery, so that's weird.
The author shouldn't have represented them as techniques or wrote in big text that you can't actually buy them

You actually said the opposite about DWD before but I guess you confused it with DWA
Low Fighting affects both attack and defense linearly so I just added a note for clarity

Okay, still work in progress, but I figure I'd share how I was looking at doing all this; see if I can head off any dumb misunderstandings on my part or omissions.

Dragonizer is a bastardized gunlance and built as an opener or finisher. Lots of alternate attacks makes it flexible but very limited. The slow reload means the odds of getting a reload is minimal except when firing from distance or in special rules; that's where the shield and sword come in.

Speaking of the shield; dirty tricks seem like the order of the day. Flash is another one-of, but expands the repertoire of toys nicely. Reduced duration both for cost and because several minutes of blindness in this kind of contest seems unsporting.

Already introduced the Dracomite; Probably primarily a meat-seeking missile to mess with ranged combatants; otherwise, a flanker and a distraction.

Real gimmick fighting hours; I tried to round them out with some martial arts; though still sorting it out. Shield and spear screamed Hopolomachia, but for backup adapting in Wing Chun gives a lot of flexibility to the shortsword. Haven't fixed the costs yet; but that's as far as I've gotten.

Disadvantages chosen for maximum FUN.

AoA let him land the grab to begin with, so it did improve his grapple in that sense. If he had later used it to, say, guarantee a transition to a double arm grab or flip Anna around so he had her back, the AoA penalty to resisting her escape would have been made up for by the bonuses for having an extra arm on her or having the better relative position.

>Medical Status
Grishnak got cut up pretty badly and suffered some bleeding, but he's stable now. He'll be in fine shape for his next fight. Anna's syncope was diagnosed as psychological, so other than a bit of fatigue she's fine as well.

Grishnak must roll Bleeding once before the medic can finish administering First Aid.
Grishnak Bleeding (HT 12, Lost HP -4) [8] <12> => Grishnak loses 1 HP, dropping to -4 HP.
Medic First Aid (First Aid 16, Large Tookit +1, Bleeding Penalties -4) [13] <14> => Fails to staunch bleeding.
Grishnak Bleeding (HT 12, Lost HP -4) [8] <12> => Grishnak loses 1 HP, dropping to -5 HP.
Medic First Aid (First Aid 16, Large Tookit +1, Bleeding Penalties -4) [13] <8> => Medic staunches bleeding, Grishnak HP +1.
Grishnak is now subject only to HP loss which will be recovered before his next fight.

I believe the author of ANTOG represented them as techniques even though you can't buy a lot of them up just to make it easier to classify the various functions. I made a couple minor adjustments to the technique skill point values on Shield Knight's sheet to prevent him from going over maximums and put one more into Low-Fighting to cap it out and get him to 100 even. He's up now.

>>82573712
Great attempt for someone that I assume is new. I'm going to record her as Corsair Lilith in my files.
>based on that portrait she should have at least Attractive for Appearance if not higher
>needs weight, use table from Basic with ST/Height rules
>some skills have 3 or 11 points, neither of which is a breakpoint; breakpoints are 1 2 4 8 12 n+4
>counterattack can have 6 skill points at most, caps out at weapon skill
Looks fine otherwise. I hope she gets to fight John at some point so she can tempt him with her Whiskey.

>>82568396
Hunter-san, it's going to take me a little longer to look through your gadgets, but as for the little things that you are no doubt still working on:
>those are some really low skill levels (16 is max)
>apparently High TL advantage does not automatically calculate, so TL needs to be manually adjusted to 5
>missing combat reflexes
>lacking -6 in disads
It's going to be difficult to be competent with that many weapons at 100 points. There is no skill minimum, of course, but I just wanted to let you know. Gunlancers in actual Monster Hunter use their lance all the time even when not shellling, so there's no reason you couldn't skip the shortsword entirely. Likewise I don't think a gunlance really calls for Guns skill despite the name. It's just a lance with an exploding tip.
>>
>>82577832
I'll keep working at it, but I took the gun skill because it didn't make sense in my mind to use the spear skill for a ranged attack, in spite of being launched from a spear. You might have the right idea of scaling back the backup weapon skills though.

That was actually a great idea, and while I ended up not liking the feel of >>82577902, the idea of using Weapon Adaptation was a great one.

Our resulting hunter ironically starts weaving back towards insect glaive, but here's the highlights:
- Spear skill as staff skill consolidates into Wing Chun nicely and grants (legally) the Power Blow I wanted. Points could be shuffled some (it occurs to me at the time of writing I'm missing a Technique adapatation for dual weapon; and with the number a style adaptation may be more suitable. I'll take a second pass at it.)
- Since Spear is consolidated into staff, when/if the dragonizer is broken; we do better than defaulting to the resulting staff. Should damage be of a more catastrophic nature, the short-sword comes into play.
- Solved our bug friend's utility problem with some Teamwork. Now they can form up to feint for us, provided they don't catch a thwacking first. (Current bug stats based on "no more than 50% of starting points" taken to mean half of all of Point Limit, Disadvantage Limit and Perk/Quirk Limit (50, 25 and 2.5 (rounded to 2) respectively)"
- Swapped to a Buckler to make dropping into 2h or freeing the hand to throw easier. Shield bopping is still a good option and plays nice with the Ambidexterity and dual attacks.

Equipment is still in the works, but other than buying suitable armor and some shit to throw around; this is shaping up. Combat reflexes is regrettably hard to fit in the budget with a significant part of the budget paid into Gadgeteer to justify, well, the gadgets.

Let me know what everybody thinks; I think we're getting there. I enabled verbose point value modifications so it'll be easier to check the math.

>Turns 3-7
More moves. Nito has reached the base of the stairs and slows down for the ascent.
Cameron can't be doin with stairs and decides to go around

>Turns 8-9
Nito reaches the top of the stairs as Cameron is about halfway around. Both are yet to lay eyes on the other

>Turn 10
Nito moves onto the landing, searching for her foe. She can't see him, but she can smell him
Cameron continues around
As Cameron has Bad Smell, Nito gets a Sense roll with a +1 bonus for being directly downwind. She gets it on the nose

>Turn 11
Nito turns around and positions herself at the top of the stairs. As Cameron saunters into view, something about the swagger in his step catches her attention "Lass uns danach noch ein Bier trinken gehen" she calls out playfully
"ARGH FOOKIN KRAUTS! LEAVE MEANS LEAVE!" is her only response

Despite rolling against a 17 (Including a +2 for Cameron's bad smell) Nito crit fails her Lecherousness control roll. Hearing German triggers Cameron's Bad Temper, and he even made his IQ roll to deduce it was German

Nito doesn't understand the response, but she gets the message. She takes a step forward with All-Out Defense (Parry) just in case
Cameron charges up the stairs as quickly as he is able (move)

>Turn 13
Nito sizes up her foe (Evaluate)
Cameron closes in, his knife raised high. He brings it down but misjudges the height, falling short of Nito's falchion
Cameron move and attack + Telegraphed attack (net +0 but skill caps at 9. Fails the roll even though Nito makes her Parry)

>Turn 13 cont
Cameron tries to stab back up, but his knoife is met with Nito's other blade
The AM totally didn't forget about Cameron's extra attack. This one is non-telegraphed and succeeds, but Nito parries with her main weapon

>Turn 14
Nito takes a step back, continuing to Evaluate
Cameron steps up and goes for a low swing, then a couple of quick high ones

Cameron's first attack is a feint, which he wins by a hefty 6. His second attack is a Combination of two Knife swings to the face, but both miss by 2

>Turn 15
Nito takes another step back before a probing lunge with her longsword. The point finds home, but the mighty Norf FC jersey is unblemished
Cameron moves in, grabbing her sword arm and attempting to cut her face again. She fends off one blow but is too slow to duck the other as a crimson line appears on her cheek

Nito succeeds on a deceptive attack, but rolls 2 damage and fails to penetrate DR. Cameron with a Committed attack to take two steps and move into Close range (which will give -2 on Nito's parries as her weapons are reach 1) as well as +2 on all attacks this turn, at the cost of not being able to parry or retreat. He succeeds the grab on Nito's arm as well as both knife swings in the combo this time. He only does 1 damage to the face and Nito passes her HT check to avoid Knockdown/Stunning
>>
>>82581366
Buddy, where's turn 12?

>>82581364

>Turn 16
Nito fails to wrench her arm free from Cameron's sausage fingers
Cameron makes a few more slashes at her face, but fails to land a blow
With their respective bonuses to ST from Wrestling, Nito is rolling against a 13 and Cameron a 14 in the Quick Contest to reak free. Cameron wins.
Cameron Combos again, as this is the third time, Nito now gets a +1 on this and all future defense attempts. One fails and she dodges the other. He tries a regular attack to the torso, which she also dodges.

>Turn 17
Nito's falchion whirls around in her hand and she slashes at Cameron's neck. The unbinned Blade gets in the way. A lesser blade would break
Cameron stabs her in the guts twice. Nito is not looking good

Nito uses Grip Mastery, allowing her to attack at C range, and a Committed attack to mitigate the penalty for going at the neck. Cameron parries. Although it is a heavier weapon than the knife, the knife is orichalcum and cannot break. Cameron's attacks both land on her unprotected torso, but neither counts as a Major Wound (she would have only made 1 dodge if she hadn't committed

>>82581471
Whoops my bad. She still made her first parry and would have taken -4 for a second anyway so dodging was still the better option

>>
>>82581521
>Turn 19
Desperate to escape, Nito goes for a wild stab. Cameron deflects it, but she catches his face on the backswing. Cameron reels back and hits the deck. He is momentarily stunned
Nito goes for an All-Out Double Feint/Attack. Her feint fails, but it does use up Cameron's parry. Her second attack hits the face despite the location and shock penalties. Cameron fails his HT check for knock-down and falls prone, releasing her arm and dropping his knife. He makes his end of turn HT check though and can act next turn

>Turn 20
Both arms now free, Nito launches an attack with both swords at once. Cameron rolls away from the first but cops the second. Blood pours down his face as he passes out. The gong sounds and Nito is declared the victor
Nito goes for a Committed Dual Weapon Attack, both to the face. Cameron retreats to offset the -3 from lying down on the first one, but the second hits. She rolls max damage, and Cameron critically fails his Major Wound HT check, mainly due to the -5 from copping it in the face, falling unconscious

Cameron didn't make it to the negatives, so he should be right after a couple of pints

>>82579573
Sorry I missed this. Last couple of things:
>Shortsword skill
Lillith's Shortsword value is 10, which is not a breakpoint. You probably just overlooked it, but just to be sure I'll go over skill point values more clearly. There's no fancy math involved. The total point value for any skill (aside from techniques) should almost always be one of:
>1
>2
>4
>8
>12
>16
And so on, increasing by 4 each time after that. Anything that isn't one of those values is not a breakpoint (unless there's some defaulting going on). The techniques look good though, so well done.

>Height and Weight
Lillith has ST 12, so according to Basic Set:
>Height 5’8”-6’6”
>Average Weight 140-220 lbs.
ST in GURPS represents real physical muscle mass unless it has some supernatural source, so height and weight must reflect it.

That's it, though. Anything else is just optimization, which is up to you. I'm going to bed now but I can up the finished version when I receive it.

Fright checks can fuck you up hard, and in a lot of adventure-oriented games danger does not obligingly come in bite-sized packages at least 30 minutes between. Even D&D4 entertained the possibility for "combat, but then another combat and more combat" as an entire dungeon gradually empties in waves of goblins trying to overwhelm you without any respect for your desire to rest or tend to your wounded.

But mostly, Fright checks can fuck you up hard.

I'm here to announce Unarmed Fight Club Championship (UFCC), a hand-to-hand combat tournament using the Song of Swords ruleset.

There is only one rule: no weapons of any kind. Anything else goes, including eye gouging, groin strikes, biting, stomping, choking...

Reply to this post with images of martial arts waifus. I will pick out 8 of them to assemble a roster representing as many combat disciplines and fighting styles as possible (based entirely on the image).

Characters will be created with 16 PCP, distributed among only Attributes, Schools, and Boons (since they won't need to buy any gear or use any skills).

Fights will probably happen this friday. Maybe even all of them.

>>
>>82583216
Correct. Probably low on the power scale but he's an accomplished horseman, marksman, and womanizer, is a polyglot, can adapt to any number of tasks or professions, has a compromised moral compass, an innate sense of self preservation, he's been a spy, a slave driver, supercargo on a slave ship, an abolitionist agent, a professional soldier, an indian scalp hunter, he possesses great strength and martial acumen, and he's got a big ol' fat cock. Also there's the calvary whiskers.
>>
>>82580577

Styles aren't strictly enforced so you could learn techniques without having a style for them, could also make a Wing Chun talent that affects all wing chun skills and costs 2+(nr of skills) per level.

Power Blow isn't a technique, it's a skill (which is why it's only 11 despite you dropping 8 points into it) and by RAW requires 32 seconds of uninterrupted concentration to use without a penalty to the roll, so you need to spec into it really hard or homebrew some rules/techniques around it to make it viable.
You could try building your own similar power with Striking ST and extra time/cost fp/x times only; though if it isn't that important to you just look up and get Furious Focus instead

Not sure if gadgeteer is even required but you should at least be able to slap a limitation on it, like (Monster Hunting Related only) -20% or (Weapons only) -40, even (One time only) -80% if you don't want her to come up with more gadgets down the line.

>>
>>82583270
Ah, clearly I needed to read Power Blow more closely then; thanks for the input; I'll give Furious Focus a look.

Regarding Gadgeteer, I felt it would be disingenuous of me to make up a character with powers salad with gadget limitations if they couldn't conceivably make or get them in normal play. You are right though I can probably reasonably apply a limitation or two to scrape back up some points.

>>82583283
Sure thing, but I meant that I want to capture that particular image, not just the character.

>>
>>82583346
You don't need gadgeteer to build things.
>>
>>82583346
Patron (Hunter's Workshop) or Unusual Background (Inherited Weapons) could also work

Also while I think it's fine as it is for 6 points, your blinding power is a bit shit in that it'll generally do nothing (roll against 10 is 50/50, though most arena characters have upped HT). Modern flashbangs are HT-5 to resist and recover from for reference.
When it does, it should generally mean at least two uncontested attacks to your location of choice, which should end the fight 99% of the time, maybe not against Usagi. Regular stunning or attribute penalty (DX) might be fairer.

>>82582078
Taking her place on the North side of the Arena we have Occultist Beulah, the horned demonic damsel! Unabashed practitioner of witchcraft and all manner of dark arts, she fights in the Arena with blade and spell in pursuit of universal damnation at the behest of her vile master! Brushing back her hair with one hand she lifts her gaze to the nearby audience and licks her lips coquettishly. Despite her outward charms the crowd is disgusted that a malodorous Tiefling should show such impudence and begins booing and jeering. Her overtures rejected Beulah responds in kind, making many rude gestures and describing the exact sort of fate her master has in store for "pathetic humans".

Notation has been amended. Mechanical terms are capitalized. Base value goes in {}. Modifiers go in (). Total value goes in []. Roll goes in <>. | indicates opposition. + indicates extra actions. = indicates outcome. * appended to a term means the action is something other than what it appears (such as an attempted Defense versus a Feint).
Beulah Sex Appeal {12} (Social Stigma: Minority Group -2, Social Stigma: Second-Class Citizen -1, Bad Smell -2) [7] <10> = Beulah elicits a Bad [8] reaction from the male memebers of the nearby crowd.
Beulah Bad Temper {12} <15> = Beulah becomes enraged with the crowd.

On the other side we have Swordmaid Tsuki, the red-haired beauty and maid-cum-swordswoman! How a housekeeper came to be a fighter in the Arena is a mystery, but Tsuki has already proved that she's no pushover! Standing languidly, broadsword and shield held loosely at her sides, Tsuki seems totally unperturbed by the sudden commotion. Her eyes drift aimlessly, focused only on the middle distance, her demeanor so detached that one begins to wonder whether she even realizes the dangers of the upcoming fight.

Tsuki Absent-Mindedness Per {10} (Absent-Mindedness -5) [5] <14> = Tsuki doesn't notice the disturbance.
